The voices in my Wish Rewrite
I haven’t talked much about it, but in my Wish rewrite some characters would be recasted. I wanted to make this post just to show which actors I’d replace… And it’s pretty much everyone except Magnifico, cause ya know, Chris Pine is Magnifico, and Magnifico is Chris Pine, it’s just how it is.
So let’s get this started!
Asha- Denée Benton
Tumblr media
Im absolutely OBSESSED with this woman’s voice, she sounds like an angel and carries so much personality in her performance, she sounds pure, youthful, hopeful but also strong, everything I imagine Asha as. THIS is what I imagine the 100th anniversary Disney princess sounding like. Not that I didn’t like Ariana DeBose’s singing tho, but I just love Denee Benton more, and hey, it’s my rewrite, so I get to imagine Asha’s voice how I please. Also I can totally see Asha and Aster singing this song.
Aster- Jordan Fisher
Tumblr media
Oooooh this man, I love him so much. His voice has the perfect energy for Aster, sounding youthful and melodic like a prince, it had to be a literally other worldly voice, and I think Jordan’s voice is PRETTY DANG other worldly, like, this example I found on Spotify doesn’t even do him justice, go listen to his other singing chops on YouTube.
If you look up Jordan Fisher you’ll see the guy is DEEPLY connected with Disney in his career, from singing the song “Happily Ever After” 6 years ago, which is the theme song for the Magic Kingdom, to now being the main singer of 4-town in the movie Turning Red. And of course this one time he made a cover of “You’re Welcome”, the guy just lives and breaths Disney so WHY NOT have him as a wishing star? It just makes sense. But besides working with Disney he also has experience in a musicals such as Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Sweeney Todd and more recently he became the new Orpheus in Hadestown… And by god I need a good quality audio of him singing “Wait For Me” more than I need air because that song fits Aster’s character SO WELL.
Magnifico- Chris Pine
Tumblr media
Yeah no surprises here, you can’t have Magnifico without Chris Pine… But HIS SINGING VOICE IN THIS SONG THOUGH??? ITS SO GOOD!!! I listened to “Any Moment” ONCE and now I constantly go back to listen to it over and over and imagine young Magnus and Amaya meeting in the woods. I still haven’t posted about Amaya’s backstory BECAUSE IM TOO LAZY TO FINISH THE DRAFT I HAVE EXPLAINING IT- But let me just say her hesitating to start a relationship with him is VERY accurate to her character. And Magnus being like “May I kiss you” out of nowhere because he: 1- Sees himself as irresistible so he thinks she’d fall for him with just that and 2- he had 0 social skills before he met Amaya.
And then there’s the line “Life is often so unpleasant, you must know that as a peasant” ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! This is LITERALLY something my Magnifico would say, I’m so freakin lucky!
My point is, my rewrite’s Magnifico sounds like THIS when he sings, with a deep, smooth and honeyed voice that makes you want to trust him… Take that high pitched voice Chris Pine did in “This Is The Thanks I Get” and throw it out the window. Disney wasted the man’s talent. I’m so mad.
Amaya- Emily Blunt
Tumblr media
Do you guys see my vision? Do I even have to say anything? Like really, go watch a scene of the Mary Poppins remake, any scene with her at all, that woman has a voice that DEMANDS respect, while also being motherly, it’s practically perfect in every way. I’m using “Open Up Your Eyes” here as an example though because… Well, it fits her backstory… Ya know, the backstory I’m stalling to talk about 👉👈… But it also just simply fits her personality in general!
And no disrespect for her voice in the movie, Angelique Cabral… BUT ITS EMILY BLUNT AS AN EVIL QUEEN!!! Come ooooon! It’s just meant to be!!!
Also side note, since we’re talking about Queen Amable, THIS design that came from an deleted scene is how I’ve imagined her the whole time:
Tumblr media
Like, I could not STAND her hairstyle in the movie, it simply didn’t fit my vision for her character, see, Amaya is sophisticated but she’s also… Practical and likes to feel comfortable, hence why in my rewrite her dress has no sleeves, she values her own comfort more than conforming to the social norms… AND THAT HAIR LOOKING LIKE HEADPHONES WITH THAT CROWN THAT MADE HER FOREHEAD LOOK LIKE A SQUARE DROVE ME NUTS!
So yeah, this is our Queen Amable, voiced by Emily Blunt, with a British accent, in all her glory, we’re moving on.
Valentino- Gregory Mann
Tumblr media
This is just a bonus mention, since Valentino doesn’t even sing in my rewrite, he just speaks in like 3 scenes… And you guys have only seen one of them so far. But either way, let it be known he sounds like Gregory Mann, because Gregory Mann sounds adorable. That is all.
Thank You For Reading!

Of course!!
Also, this is the NEW and FUCKING IMPROVED LIST, I alphabetized it so it’s even better than before >:3

Baby It's Cold Outside — VoicePlay music video
youtube
This song has become an annual topic of discussion in recent years. But regardless of how you feel about the lyrics or the societal context in which they were written, it's hard to deny that it's a catchy tune. It's also pretty difficult to resist being charmed by the cautious flirtation between Broadway star Shoshana Bean and our self-deprecating bass man. Even if there's about as much of a chance for snow in southern California where they filmed the video as there is in their home state of Florida.
Details:
title: Baby It's Cold Outside (feat. Shoshana Bean)
original performers: Frank Loesser & Lynn Garland at private parties; first recorded for public release by Esther Williams, Ricardo Montalbán, Betty Garrett, & Red Skelton in Neptune's Daughter (1949)
written by: Frank Loesser
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci & Hannah Juliano
release date: 15 December 2017
My favorite bits:
the simplicity of starting with just the two leads
the glances between the peanut gallery behind them just before they start harmonizing
Shoshana's michievous grin as she sings ♫ "At least I'm gonna say that I tried" ♫
the jazzy ♫ "Baby, it's co-o-oold" ♫ as she gets up
Layne sneaking into frame right on time to drop some incredible wind sound effects and brush snares
Geoff's completely unconvincing argument about a snowstorm in Los Angeles while pointing away from the enormous windows
everyone turning to look at Earl when his wingmanning gets a little too enthusiastic
Eli's sock puppet miming during ♫ "bound to be talk tomorrow" ♫
Shoshana's ad libbed riffs during the fade-out
busting into joyful impromptu Hanukkah songs in the outro
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trivia:
This video was part of a whirlwind trip to Los Angeles during which they recorded three videos with three different collaborators in two days. On the day they filmed this one, they also recorded a cover of "Waving Through A Window" from Dear Evan Hansen with Kurt Hugo Schneider.
The following summer, Shoshana starred alongside founding 4:2:Five member Mykal Kilgore in a limited concert run of Songs for a New World as part of New York City Center's "Encores! Off-Center" series.
Makeup artist Kimber Parrish first met some of the VoicePlay guys when she got her professional start prepping monsters for the "Beetlejuice Revue" show at Universal Studios Orlando. She had since relocated to the Los Angeles park, which turned out to be convenient for this project. She specializes in prosthetics and special effects, so doing a little glamor makeup was a much simpler task.
While they were getting ready to film, some of the guys used a running joke of imitating Michael McDonald sneezing (which originated on Family Guy) to keep their voices warmed up.
The YouTube description contains an entire script turning the lyrics on their head: * I really can't stay… * That's cool I have to get up early in the morning * I've got to go away… * Yeah, i get it, it's totally fine. * This evening has been * Why are you still sitting here I thought you had to leave? * So very nice * Thanks for saying so, maybe we should find your purse * My mother will start to worry, * I mean, maybe, call her? * My father will be pacing the floor * Here's your phone - definitely call them * So really I'd better scurry * Yeah, it sounds like we better hurry, your folks sound nuts. * Well maybe just a half a drink more * NO! I mean, you better get going it's late. I've had a really nice time too. Text me when you're home safe; your Uber is here. BYEEEEEEEE!!!!!

꒰      ˚      ( jordan fisher, cis man, he/him ) — 🎬 just announced, nico sharpe has been cast as chad danforth in the upcoming high school musical reboot. the twenty four year old is trending as people are debating if the observant glances, hidden behind a sunshine smile, being friends with everyone, ghost stories told around the campfire, the choice between contentment and endless ambition and long confident strides forward ; no matter the adversities that they are known for is enough to make them as good as original. a quick google search shows that their fans call them felicific, but internet trolls think they’re more heedless. i guess their newest interview for variety where they talk about how he once walked up 10 flights of stairs because there was a lizard in the elevator will let people to know them better.

𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐓𝐖𝐎   :   𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘.
our  story  begins  on  a  windy  morning  in  los  angeles,  california.  after  hours  in  the  waiting  room,  the  crying  sounds  of  a  baby  are  heard  in  the  hallway;  two  parents  are  welcoming  their  second  son  into  the  world:  nicholas.  everyone  in  the  sharpe  family  was  awaiting  that  moment.  only  a  couple  hours  born  and  the  sound  of  endless  laughter  fills  the  room,  turning  into  a  permanent  echo  in  nico’s  head.  his  parents  were  both  enthused,  even  though  nico  wasn’t  their  first  child  his  arrival  was  a  gift  for  both  of  them  and  their  little  growing  family.  it  took  the  couple  about  six  years  to  have  another  child  after  their  firstborn  due  to  a  never  ending  share  of  complications.  both  sides  of  the  families  were  concerned  that  they  weren’t  going  to  look  for  more  kids  —  something  that,  for  whatever  reason,  was  a  horrifying  thought  —  since  the  couple  never  publicly  shared  their  relationship  struggles.  luckily  for  them,  and  the  couple,  things  turned  around  for  the  better.
now,  the  first  few  years  of  nico’s  life,  he  never  truly  understood  what  he  had  managed  to  find  himself  in.  having  no  concept  of  fame  or  stardom,  being  kept  away  from  the  flashes  of  cameras  for  as  long  as  he  can  remember.  it  wasn’t  until  he  entered  kindergarten  that  he  started  to  slowly  grasp  a  bit  more  of  that  world.  despite  this,  nico’s  early  childhood  remains  pretty  close  to  his  heart.  his  parents  were  wonderful,  even  though  they  always  seemed  to  be  busy  with  their  careers  yet  none  of  their  children  ever  truly  felt  like  they  were  totally absent  in  their  lives. sure, sometimes they would miss a school play or two, but they were pros at distributing the absences between the two of them equally ( if his mom wasn't there, his dad would be and viceversa ).
jumping  ahead  to  when  he  was  in  college,  he  had  already  been  eyeing  the  world  of  acting  and  performing,  a  very  vivid  memory  of  his  mom  taking  him  on  a  ‘ bring  your  son  to  work ’  kind  of  day  and  seeing  her  in  her  element  first-hand,  plays  in  his  mind  again  and  again.  seeing  the  way  she  took  over  the  character  and  made  it  her  own,  basically  transforming  in  front  of  his  very  eyes.  that  was  the  time  where  he  felt  enamored  by  theater.  after  that,  he  just  wanted  to  be  on  the  screen  and  performing.
after  years  of  taking  many,  many  classes  and  being  casted  for  short  commercials;  at  the  age  of  18,  nico  with  the  help  of  his  parents  signed  into  an  agency.  pretty  shortly,  he  was  getting  all  kinds  of  auditions  for  all  different  types  of  shows  and  commercials.  after  a  few  rejections,  he  started  getting  call  backs  saying  he  got  the  part.  they  were  all  very  small  at  the  start,  given  his  lack  of  experience  yet,  he  constantly  received  praises  for  how  much  of  a  natural  he  was  in  front  of  the  cameras.  jumping  ahead  to  2016,  he  got  casted  for  the  role  of  chidi  in  nbc’s  show,  the  good  place;  his  big  break.  this  was  the  first  step  into  trying  to  create  his  own  name  and  identity  away  from  his  parents.  he was proud of being a sharpe, but, the expectations of the last name were, at one point, very suffocating.
aside  from  acting,  nico  devoted  most  of  his  teenage  years  into  dancing  and  singing.  showing  his  incline  for  music  and  art  in  various  forms  since  he  was  a  kid.  he  remembers  the  first  time  he  went  to  a  broadway  show  with  his  mom,  they  went  to  watch  aladdin.  now,  the  kid  loved  aladdin  as  well,  but  something  about  the  energy,  the  performance,  the  visuals  happened  to  take  over  everything  for  him.  suddenly,  life  felt  very  much  like  a  that's  so  raven  vision,  he  could  envision  himself  in  a  stage  like  that  in  the  future  and  the  idea  of  that  was  magical.  he  never  knew  you  could  get  so  much  euphoria  from  a  dream. so,  he  started  looking  into  doing  musicals.  with  this,  he  started  sending  resumes  whenever  auditions  for  a  new  musical  would  be  announced.  this  lead  to  him  getting  casted  in  a  few  musicals  such  as  grease  where  he  was  casted  as  doody,  and  rent  where  he  was  casted  as  mark  cohen.  after  the  good  place  ended,  he  continued  doing  a  lot  of  musicals  such  as  hamilton  where  he  got  casted  as  aaron  burr  and  hadestown  as  orpheus.
in the midst of all his musicals and movies, he also began to start up his singing career outside of musicals. he started uploading videos of song covers to youtube, as well as working on his own singles as an artist. aside from this, he also worked on various soundtracks of different movies. eventually, he ended up releasing his first EP to the public. we’re  now  in  the  present  and  things  continue  to  look  up  to  nico.  having  recently  getting  offered  the  role  of  chad  danforth  in  the  netflix’s  high  school  musical  reboot.
𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐄   :   𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘.
if  you  look  up  the  definition  of  extrovert  in  the  dictionary,  nico's  face  would  show  up.  he  is  an  incredibly  social  person,  someone  who  is  desperate  to  know  what  you’re  thinking  or  what  are  the  things  that  make you  move.  incredibly  expressive,  he  kind  of  wears  his  emotions  on  his  sleeve, he doesn't hide  what  he  is  feeling.  he  always  tries  to  be  the  person  in  the  room  to  make  the  dumbest  joke  if  he  senses  that  the  air  gets  the  tiniest  bit  tense  so  as  to  lighten  up  the  vibe.  he  is  a  perfectionist  and  super  self-critical,  he’s  probably  his  #1  hater  in  the  sense  that  he  always  thinks  he  needs  to  try  harder,  like  he’s  not  doing  enough.  he  could  be  doing  a  summersault  on  stage  and  it  could  come  out  being  incredible  but  he  would  still  say  ‘  i  need  to  try  harder,  let  me  do  it  again  ‘,  it’s  somehow  never  good  enough  for  him,  he’s  really  critical  of  his  work  and  performance.  whereas  with  other  artists  he  thinks  anything  they  do  is  out  of  this  world.  holds  himself  at  an  unrealistic  high  standard  that  he  thinks  he  never  reaches. he  is  a  very  people  driven  person,  very  empathetic,  can  sort  of  be  an  emotional  barometer  for  everyone  around  him.  loves  making  connections  with  people,  has  a  very  deep  desire  to  be  liked  therefore  is  incredibly  sensitive  to  feedback  whether  it  is  positive  or  negative,  obviously  negative  feedback  affects  him  way  more  than  the  positive  still  not  knowing  how  to  not  let  it  get  to  him  as  bad  as  it  does.  he's  very  emotionally  in  tune  when  it  comes  to  other  people  and  being  open  with  others  about  their  emotions,  he loves connecting emotionally with others. he doesn't try nor hides how he feels, being very upfront with his emotions. if he's angry or sad, he'll let you know and you'll definitely see it. he  is  a  very  calm  person,  he  doesn't  let  anyone  or  anything  disturb  his  peace.  he prefers to not give other people that much power over him. in  a  emergency  situation  you  can  always  count  on  him  to  keep  his  cool  at  all  times.  never  one  to  emotionally  explode,  not  because  he's  ashamed  to  show  that  or  is  unable  to  express  that  but  because  he  thinks  that  not  everything  is  worth  or  deserves  a  reaction.  so,  if  he's  gonna  exhaust  himself  emotionally,  it  has to  be  for  a  good  and  deserving  reason. he  is  constantly  challenging  himself,  whether  that  is  going  out  of  his  comfort  zone  both  profesionally  and  personally  or  experimenting  with  new  things,  he  hates  feeling  like  he  is  stuck  or  trapped,  so  anything  that  gives  him  the  sensation  of  adventure,  release  or  change  is  incredibly  important  to  him.  he  likes  to  pretend  like  he  doesn’t  catch  feelings  but  he  actually  does  so  ridiculously  fast,  this  clip  defines  him.  when  it  comes  to  relationships,  he  doesn’t  really  care  about  privacy  unless  we’re  talking  about  really  meaningful,  intense  relationships;  those  he  actually  protects  from  everybody  with  a  lock  &  key.  but  anything  that  he  might  consider  foolish  and  meaningless,  he  doesn't really invest that much time or deep care for.

Voice claim time! Disclaimer, some of these are from what I think are slightly more niche shows/movies, but whatever. Also there are a few “smaller” characters I just have exact voices for so I’ll be including them.
Oh, and apologies in advance for the rambling. I’m trying to be as clear as possible but some of these voices are so hard to pin down.
Nick: a mix of all the male country artists/bands I listen to-Jordan Davis, Blake Shelton, Old Dominion, etc. He’s kind of just generic “guy with a relatively subtle Southern accent.” Also there’s a bit of Tom Holland for some reason.
Sel: Several different voices at different points, and kind of a combination. 1. JD from Heathers-specifically the World Premiere Cast, and even more specifically his voice during Seventeen. 2. Jordan Davis 3. My Chorus Dad Thayer (I have no way to explain his voice-it’s a very very subtle southern accent, very low, and very Sel.)
Bree: I don’t actually know how to describe this bc Bree’s voice isn’t something I’ve ever heard. It’s the voice I hear when Tara speaks-Tara is a character I do text RP as-but there’s no good comparison to that. I can’t mimic it. It’s just slightly different than my voice-enough to be obviously different, but subtle enough that trying to recreate what I hear comes out awful. Closest I’ve heard is probably either Taylor Swift or Tenile Arts, but those are both too far off from mine.
Alice: Erin from the Lore OlymPOD podcast. Yes, I read Lore Olympus, come at me. She’s kind of the default “best friend” voice, actually.
Mariah: You know that trope of the Black woman at the post office who calls you “sweetheart” and is incredibly Southern? That’s Mariah. I know it’s probably closer to Patricia and that Mariah’s 20-something, but hush. Probably the closest I know of is Millie’s first voice in Helluva Boss.
Valec: Asmodeus from Helluva Boss. And for some reason he turns into Angel Dust when he’s mocking/taunting/fighting with Sel. I cannot possibly explain this, don’t ask.
Lord Davis: Striker from Helluva Boss mixed w/Blake Shelton
Issac: The Wolf from Into The Woods, specifically when he’s trying to lure Little Red and being very obviously evil.
Tor: Stella from Helluva Boss.
Evan: Connor from Dear Evan Hansen.
Felicity: Octavia from Helluva Boss but not depressed. Well, not until Bloodmarked.
Anyone else have really specific voice claims that conflict with canon voices? Like… Sel’s definitely a base/baritone, but 2/3 of my voice hcs are tenor voices. And Tor definitely isn’t British, Stella just has the right Bitch Factor.

Viv’s Top Musicals (Theatre)
1. Hadestown - 2019
Tumblr media
This musical is gorgeous. A perfect blend of mythology and realism, it brings a completely new interpretation on this myth in the depression-era New Orleans. The diversity of voices and utter heart-wrenching chemistry all the characters show is great. I have this playlist constantly on repeat.
2. Six - 2019
Tumblr media
If you like history and banging beats, here ya go. This musical really shows how the six wives of king Henry VIII feel about their legacies using modern language and sick costumes. All the rage of this musical on Tik Tok is well deserved, it’s great.
Edit: lol I also just found out I’m distantly related from Katherine Parr, her brother William is my great grandfather x14 or something.
3. Waitress - 2016
Tumblr media
If you like rom-coms with a heart-wrenching and empowering plot, this is the play for you. With a score done by Sara Bareilles (“Love Song”), this musical will make you laugh and cry.
4. Beetlejuice - 2019
Tumblr media
This musical is great, with the hilarity of the original 80s movie but with a theatrical twist. You’ll want to know about The Whole Being Dead Thing.
5. The Book of Mormon - 2011
Tumblr media
I would not recommend this play for the faint of heart. It’s a satire on religious groups in the US (specifically Mormonism), but it is hilarious. It will make you question yourself morally but cry laughing while you do it. It gets at the root of the problematic cultish behaviour of religion.
6. Wicked - 2003
Tumblr media
Iconic! I mean what else is there to say, you need to see this play at least once in your life. It’s catchy and the notes those girls hit are insane. It’s a great take on the villain of a story and makes you rethink the who is really good and evil.
7. In the Heights - 2008
Tumblr media
If you like Hamilton and can sit through Lin Manuel-Miranda’s voice, here ya go. It’s a nice little story about immigrants (who get the job done). Plus, the movie is coming out this summer and I’m so excited, Anthony Ramos is gonna play the lead.
8. Anastasia - 2017
Tumblr media
A beautiful rendition of the animated classic, the cast has the voices of angels and the characters really shine through. I like how this play is along the backdrop of the beginning of Bolshevism and Soviet Russia.
9. Dear Evan Hansen - 2016
Tumblr media
The plot of this play is a little dry, the whole teen angst bit and everything. But the songs, mwah, beautiful. Ben Platt can sing at my funeral, the comedic timing is on point and the incorporation of modern social media in high school life was really interesting to investigate.
10. First Date - 2013
Tumblr media
This is quite a short little play, staring Zachery Levi but it perfectly captures the awkwardness and adventures of the dating life for both those who are nerdy and cool. So funny!

Conner Murphy's reaction that shy quiet Evan Hansen can sing like an angel:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Evan has an amazing singing voice, problem is he has anxiety and can't sing in front of a crowd.
Tumblr media
So he sings by himself in the school auditorium theater. And Conner Murphy sees him. And it's the start of something.
Tumblr media
(Don't like don't read. Post hate and I'll block you)

Who Neil would play as in musicals and why :
Hamilton: Thomas Jefferson
Because he would pull it off with PERFECTION and he would put a lot of fun and dedication in that role.
Dear Evan Hansen: uh Evan Hansen
Well this one is kinda obvious because Neil could relate to him on some levels
Book of Mormon: Moronai
This just fits, I see him coming onstage with angel wings going, “I. Am. Moroni”
Newsies: Jack Kelly
I’ve mentioned this in a post before, but HE WOULD PUT ON THE THICKEST NEW YORK ACCENT
Little Shop of Horrors: Orin Scrivello
Aka the abusive dentist, I feel like the only villain that he would play would be a comedic villain.
Phantom of the Opera: Erik
He has that whimsical poetic vibe (why wouldn’t he) and I could see him serenading people in productions.
Falsettos: Mendel
They have similar singing voices, and Mendel is quite the comedian.
Avenue Q: either Princeton or Trekkie Monster
The comedy in these characters is on a different level. Neil would execute the jokes perfectly. And it would be funny to watch him maneuver a puppet.
The Producers: Franz Liebkind
Neil would take on goofy roles in a heartbeat.

The Forces of Nature || Ch.3
Pairing: Peter Parker x Superhero!Reader
Summary: “There’s this kid out there that can control the wind or something. I think she’s a great addition to the team. Let’s recruit her.”
SERIES MASTERLIST  ||  PP MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
The next three days of school were filled with Y/N constantly asking Peter when he was available to work on the presentation. Peter found it annoying as usual, but she wasn't annoying; she was determined. She was determined to get along with Peter. She was really trying hard. Peter wasn't cooperating because he kept dismissing her. Ned was disappointed.
"Why are you so disappointed, anyway?" Peter asked with a shrug as he closed his locker when the day ended.
"Because she's trying, Peter! You're not even trying. I thought you were recruiting her? What happened to that?" Ned asked, completely done with Peter's bullshit.
"Technically, I still am. If I don't end up recruiting her, Scott will recruit her and my suit would probably taken away which would make me extremely upset."
"Well, you aren't doing your job in recruiting her. Sounds to me like you WANT to have your suit taken away."
"Of course no-"
"By not doing what you're supposed to do, you're one step closer to Mr. Stark taking your suit away." Ned said sternly. He looked behind Peter and saw Y/N approaching them. "Y/N's coming over here and she'll probably ask the same question again. So please cooperate."
"Fine." Peter huffed. Ned was right, after all. He didn't want his suit to be taken away. As if on cue, Y/N approaches them with a wide smile which Ned returned. Peter just stared at her.
"Hey guys!" Y/N greeted. "MJ went home already, she said something about a protest or something and I saw you guys and I thought I would say hi."
"Well, hello." Ned said sweetly. "I really love your outfit choices. What's your style today? I love it."
Y/N smiled shyly and looked down before looking back at Ned, "It's actually inspired by Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City. I loved her outfits in that movie and I saw that I have some similar pieces in my closet. So today, my style is Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City."
Y/N was wearing a pink long sleeved polo with the sleeves folded all the way up to her elbows. On top of that was a small white vest to match her white slacks that were straight cut. For the shoes, she decided to give heels a try that's why she was slightly taller that day. She also wore a black tie that was loosely tied around her neck.
"You look great! Doesn't she look great, Peter?" Ned turned to Peter who was looking at her up and down.
"You know, you usually dress either too old for your age or too young for your age. When you wore that sailor outfit the other day, I noticed that everyone here wanted to bang you; you looked like a porn star or something."
"Peter!"
"Hey, I'm just telling the truth so I don't have to say shit behind her back." Peter defended. "But, Ned's right. You look great today. I actually dig this look." He smiled at Y/N and clapped.
"Why, thank you, Peter. That's really nice of you to say." Y/N beamed. "Anyway, I also approached both of you to tell Peter that it's okay if he doesn't want to work on the presentation. So, I started my research last night and started on the presentation already."
Ned and Peter were in shock. Ned was shocked because he was impressed. Peter was shocked because he realized he wouldn't get a grade if he didn't let down his pride to join Y/N.
"Wait, uh, I've been meaning to tell you that I was going to join you today." Peter said quickly. Y/N raised her eyebrows, "Really? No more lame excuses?"
"What do you mean 'lame excuses'?" Peter furrowed his eyebrows. Ned looked between the both of them and just watched the scene unfold.
"Oh, Peter. I'm not stupid; I wasn't born yesterday. I can let the Stark Internship slide because I know it's real. But your other excuses? Cat-sitting your neighbor's cat? Walking your dog? MJ told me you didn't have a dog. Maybe you really bought groceries after school so I'll let that slide too. But the other day you told me that you were going to be late for your shift at 7/11? Dude, later that day I saw you at Delmar's and you took your sweet time to stay there." Y/N let out an exasperated sigh.
"And I'm sorry for that, okay?" Peter frowned. "But I want to work on it now. Really, I do. Please? I don't want to fail history."
"Fine." Y/N gave in. "Only because I'm nice."
"Thanks." Peter smiled. "My place or-?"
"Mine." Y/N said. "Shall we?"
Peter nodded and they said goodbye to Ned. The train ride going to Y/N's house was quiet. Peter had his earphones on and Y/N took out her book and opened it on where her bookmark was. As she started reading, Peter couldn't help but look at her as she sat across from him.
He didn't understand why everyone liked her so much. Even the Avengers liked her despite not knowing who she was. Peter would ask himself at night why people liked her or liked to be around her. He just didn't get it. But now he's asking himself why he doesn't get it. If it was so easy for all of Midtown and the Avengers to like her, why wasn't it easy for him? Why was he struggling? Suddenly, he felt himself becoming like Evan Hansen in the song 'Waving Through A Window'.
"On the outside, always looking in."
Like what Evan felt in that song, Peter felt like an outsider in his own situation. It was as if a glass separated him from the rest of Midtown when Y/N came along. He wasn't even sure if people still knew him or if anyone ever noticed him.
A few moments later, they arrive at Y/N's station. On instinct, Y/N immediately puts the bookmark on the page she was reading and closed the book before putting it in her bag. She glanced at Peter and motioned for him to follow her so he did. As soon as they got out of the train, Y/N just kept walking with Peter following by her side.
"So, what were you reading?" Peter asked.
"Why're you asking?" Y/N chuckled lightly.
Peter shrugged, "They say that you could tell a lot about a person based on what they're reading."
"Who the hell said that?" Y/N laughed. "It's kind of ridiculous." Peter didn't say anything as they kept walking. After a moment of silence, Y/N spoke up again.
"You really want to know?"
"Yeah."
"It's about a kid who wished that his parents never met; he wished it at exactly 11:11 and it came true. When he woke up the next day, he was on the ground and in the wrong year. His house was gone, his whole family was gone. The only person who was there was an angel literally sent from heaven who was tasked to help the kid." Y/N told him.
"That sounds really interesting." Peter genuinely said. "So, what's the catch? There has to be a catch."
Y/N giggled, "They only have one week to get his parents back together."
"You mentioned that he woke up in the wrong year... what's up with that?"
"Since their task is to get the kid's parents back together, the kid woke up in 2017; the year the kid's parents met. Another catch is that the kid's mom was engaged to someone else at that time. You should read this book. I'll lend it to you when I'm done with it."
Peter glanced at Y/N and smiled, "I'd love that. Thank you."
"Anytime, Peter."
A few turns later, Y/N and Peter arrived at her apartment building. They entered the building and went up the elevator to reach the third floor to Y/N's unit. Y/N led the way to the unit she shared with Eunice and unlocked the door before entering and inviting Peter in.
Peter closed the door behind him and looked around. It was similar to the apartment he lived in with May and it made him smile a bit. He noticed that there weren't any pictures of Y/N. Instead, there were pictures of a dark skinned woman with what seemed to be like the woman's family.
Y/N went straight to the kitchen as Peter made himself comfortable on the couch. The whole apartment was cozy and aesthetically pleasing. He looked to his left and saw an open door. He assumed it was Y/N's room judging by the way it was designed and styled. He didn't want to offend anyone but the dark skinned woman looked older than Y/N and the style of Y/N's room wouldn't fit the older woman.
"We don't have any juice. I hope water's okay." Y/N's voice cut off his train of thought as he looked towards her as she brought two glasses of water and placed it on the coffee table. "I'll just get my laptop, okay?" Y/N settles her bag down next to Peter's and rushed to her room to quickly grab her laptop. Not even a second later, Y/N came back with her laptop and sat next to Peter.
"I already started on the powerpoint. I hope you don't mind; I used Canva." Y/N said as she opened her laptop and quickly went on Canva.
"I don't mind. Did you make notes?" Peter asked. "I really have no clue about Elizabeth I."
"I don't have notes, but I do have a book." Y/N told him before she opened her backpack to grab the book she used for the presentation. She handed it to Peter who gladly took it from her. He opened the book on where the bookmark was and he began to read it.
"I thought that we could only do a few slides. I asked Mrs. Johnson this morning for the specifics and she said that we'll only present about the beginning of her life until she became queen. Her life as queen was given to someone else." Y/N explained.
"That's fine. I trust that we'll explain this really well. I don't want to sound arrogant or anything, but we're two of the smartest people in that room." Peter said.
"That's actually true." Y/N giggled. "Are you hungry?"
"Yes. I didn't eat lunch. I was at the library studying for a quiz in Spanish." Peter frowned slightly.
"I'll make us a lasagna, then. I think it's your turn to do the research since I've already done that all night last night." Y/N turned the laptop to face him as she stood up and went to the kitchen to start cooking.
Peter read the one Y/N did so far and he was impressed. He read the book first before he started typing anything. He knew that Y/N was fascinated by all of the Tudors and he wanted to know why. Almost two hours later, he found himself getting really hooked on the book.
"Are you enjoying?" Y/N asked.
Peter looked up from what he was reading and nodded, "I'm probably just as fascinated as you are right now, if I'm being honest. Anyway, I'll start typing now."
"Okay." Y/N nodded. "The food's ready, by the way." She went to the dining area as Peter started typing quickly. It didn't take long for him to join Y/N and they started eating.
"I don't see any pictures of you, Y/N. Who do you live with?" Peter asked nonchalantly.
"I live with Eunice. She's my... friend. She's my best friend, actually. She's a few years older. She's a cop; she's my hero." Y/N praised as she ate.
"How come?" Peter wondered. Y/N took a sip of her water and said, "I've lost three people I love in the span of two years. After that, I lived with my cruel aunt who treated me like a servant. Last summer, I ran away from that cruel place and found my place here."
"Then I met Eunice." Y/N remembered fondly. "She took me in without hesitation and helped me find a decent school for my senior year and that's why I'm in Midtown. I could say that she's like a sister to me despite our differences. I love her. She's my family. Families aren't always bonded by blood, you know."
"I get what you mean. Mr. Stark is like a father to me." Peter smiled. "I've lost three people too."
"Who?" Y/N asked.
"My parents and my uncle Ben." Peter answered as he reminisced on the memories he had with his parents and mostly uncle Ben.
"I lost my parents too." Y/N said as she teared up at the memory. "It was a car accident. The drunk driver hit our car so bad and it killed my parents instantly. I was with them when it happened. I was only 15."
Peter frowned as she continued her story.
"I only had scratches and I was the only one alive in the scene. I got out of the car and when I did, the car blew up. I miss my parents so much. As much as I want to dwell on losing them, I knew I had to move on. My parents would want that."
"Who was the other one you lost?" Peter asked softly.
Y/N wiped away her tears and cleared her throat, "I lost my grandmother a year after I lost my parents. She died in her sleep. She was a really good person, you know? She never made me feel guilty for being the only one alive in the accident. In fact, she loved me even more. She loved me more than she loved anything else. It was just me and her in the house that I grew up in."
"She took care of me and loved me. She always reminded me that I was her best girl. She said that to me every night. I just didn't know that those would be her last words to me because she didn't wake up the next morning."
"Y/N, I'm so sorry." Peter said. "That must really hurt. I'm sorry you had to go through that."
"I thought you hated me... why are you so nice to me?" Y/N sniffed and drank some water.
"I don't hate you. I dislike you. Those are two different things. And just because I dislike you, doesn't mean that I'm heartless. Consider me as... a frenemy." Peter said.
"Frenemy?"
"Friend and enemy."
Y/N nodded, "I like that. So what are you right now?"
Peter smiled at her and softly gripped her hand, his thumb rubbing the top of her hand, "Right now, I'm your friend. And as a friend, I can say that I know what it feels like to lose important people. I can also say that you're not alone."
'Perhaps it isn't so bad to be close to Y/N', Peter thought to himself. He didn't want to admit it, but being with Y/N felt great. He didn't feel like an outsider anymore.

Fan-Casting A Hypothetical “Next To Normal” Movie
As some of you may know, both “In The Heights” and “Dear Evan Hansen” are getting film adaptations this year. Assuming that those are successful, we could be getting more musical adaptations on the horizon. And “Next To Normal” is one of my favorite musicals, and I think it could translate to the silver screen incredibly well. If done well, it could be the one of the greatest movie musicals we’ve had in a long time.
Now, I don’t know who they would get to direct the film, but they say that 90% of directing is casting, so I thought I could help out with that part. These are some ideas I have for casting the Goodman family in a hypothetical “Next To Normal” movie
Let’s start with the ‘simple spirit’ at the heart of the story - Gabriel. I see so many productions depict him as a villainous character who acts increasingly sexual around his mother. I would like to tone these aspects down a bit - I personally see him as a teenager lashing out because he’s being ignored.
Now this choice might surprise you a bit, but I want to see Andrew Barth Feldman take on this role. He has an unbelievable singing voice and I think he could stretch his acting muscles to portray Gabe’s angrier moments, but still be sympathetic enough for “I Am The One (Reprise)” to hit home hard.
Then we have Natalie. Like with Gabe, I would rather cast an actual teenager with limited film experience than cast someone in their mid 20′s who’s more well-known. Don’t get me wrong, I understand why directors do that. I mean, it’s not like you’re likely to find someone under eighteen years of age with pitch-perfect vocal control and acting chops to match...
Meet Kendall Nicole-Yakshe. Starkid fans know her for her role as Hannah Foster in Black Friday. She is currently fifteen years old. Her vocal abilities are far beyond her years, and she is a remarkably good actress, too. This is someone who needs a big break. And the role of Natalie Goodman fits her like a glove.
Next up, Dan Goodman. And I didn’t have to think long at all to cast this role - it should be Jeremy Jordan. Jordan is 36, he has the voice of an angel, but has also shown his dramatic capabilities in roles like The Last Five Years. I think he has both the acting range and the vocal range to portray this complicated character. I don’t even know what else to say - we all know how good Jeremy Jordan is.
And now, the big one. Diana Goodman.
I could list off a dozen actresses from stage and screen alike that would kill for this role. You probably have a few in your head right now. But I want to be bold with this pick, and find someone who maybe isn’t the obvious pick, but has the ability to blow everyone away.
We know that Diana is in her late thirties or early forties. We know that she was young when she married Dan. We know that he describes her as being a wild burst of light and energy before Gabe’s death. On stage, Diana can occasionally come across as being bubbly and childlike, before switching on a dime to show us the deep pain that she’s feeling.
I propose casting an actress who is known for more lighter material, that people will know as the ‘wild young girl’ Dan fell for but can surprise the audience with her ability to reach down deep and bring out the emotion.
And in case you haven’t guessed it by now, I believe that the perfect person to play Diana Goodman is Kristen Bell.
Kristen Bell is currently 40 years old, is mostly known for comedies and for being the voice of a Disney Princess. She obviously has an amazing singing voice. But she’s also a capable dramatic actress, which many people often forget.  Of all things, it was her performance of the song “The Next Right Thing” in Frozen 2 that first made me realize how good Kristen could be in this role. Listen to her performance of that song and then imagine her singing So Anyway.
But what really sold it for me is this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYUQ_nlZgWE), in which she describes her own struggles with mental health. This is someone who can truly relate to Diana Goodman more than most actresses could. For an actress who is well-liked but mainly known as a comedienne, this role could be an Oscar-worthy vehicle for her.
So there you have it. Kristen Bell, Jeremy Jordan, Kendall Nicole-Yakshe and Andrew Barth Feldman as the Goodman family. And for those wondering, I don’t have a Henry in mind, although I would prefer to cast an actor of color in that role. And the two doctors should probably be played by different actors in the film to avoid confusion.
Well, that’s basically it. If you liked or disliked my casting ideas or you have some ideas of your own, let me know in the comments!

Bendy and the Inky Musical - Part 2/5
We continue all the way through the end of Chapter Three, with two of my favorite song ideas, a doggo for a son, and an overuse of spotlights and blackouts!
Sheep, Sheep, Sheep - Sammy
The lights come on again to reveal Henry tied up and Sammy doing his speech.
However, Henry interrupts Sammy to try and get answers out of him, to which Sammy provides more prophet garbage. (This does, however, serve a purpose, as the audience now gets to learn more about Sammy, as it’s essentially his prophet speech, but with a more conversational tone.)
Eventually, fed up with answering questions, Sammy gags Henry. There is a sound offstage, and Sammy describes it as his lord coming closer to claim his offering.
This song is super creepy. It’s just a recap of the prophet speech, but with much more unsettling description of what exactly the Ink Demon could do. This is the song to learn about the Ink Demon, and how obsessed with it Sammy is. The entire time the song is going, Sammy is also being really unnerving to Henry, getting way up in his personal space and bothering him.
The song ends with Sammy walking off to the very far side of the stage to welcome his lord into the room, only to have a strobe light effect on him as he thrashes away from an unseen Ink Demon before falling offstage.
Henry then escapes, and after getting chased by the Ink Demon, finds Boris, leading to yet another blackout.
Make You Proud - Buddy
(Think a more hopeful For Forever; Dear Evan Hansen)
Wally comes back onstage, having not been seen while Sammy was being creepy, and talks about how after Henry left, “Joey was so desperate for workers, he would hire just any kid off the street.” Enter Buddy, getting hired off the street. “Ya see what I mean?” Wally shakes his head and wanders offstage as the betrayal conversation happens between Buddy and Joey. (The one where Joey calls Buddy “Henry”.)
Buddy sits at his desk, and notices a name carved into it. Buddy tells his desk that he might not know who this “Henry Stein” is, but he seems to be important, so Buddy will do his best to make him proud.
Halfway through the song, Buddy moves away from his desk, and moves into the safe house, where Henry is reading. Buddy finishes his chorus that he will protect Henry any way that he can, before he sits down, the spotlight moves to Henry, and when the full stage lights come back, Boris is sitting across from him.
(Henry will ask Boris about Buddy’s journal, but will get distracted by getting out. The two leave the safe house, as the setting changes yet again, to the past…)
Dear Susie - Susie, Joey
(Think a much more psychotic The Wizard and I; Wicked)
…where Susie is shrieking with delight at her new role as Alice Angel. Joey is buttering her up and flirting with her, and she loves it. Susie is living her best life, and even rubs it in the face of new voice actress Allison. Time passes, and although Alice isn’t a popular character, Susie is still on Cloud Nine.
But just after Susie finishes her second chorus, Sammy informs her that Allison will be voicing Alice. When Susie demands to know why, Sammy simply answers, “Ask Joey.”
Susie is furious, and confronts Joey, who quickly turns the final chorus away from being angry, to being incredibly seductive, (doing that thing where he maneuvers her into a dance as he sings,) and asking Susie to become Alice one more time. She agrees, and Joey walks off.
A single spotlight zooms in on Susie as she again triumphantly declares that she will have all her “dreams come…”
…and Joey, just out of spotlight, slices her neck. Susie collapses, the spotlight goes out, and when it comes back, she’s coving her face. Joey leaves in disgust, and Susie now quietly finishes her song, “…true.”
Go Fetch For Me - Susie, Henry, Buddy, Norman, Wally, Ensemble
Buddy and Henry make it through the Alice Angel jump scare, and she decides that they’re going to do some errands for her. Wally appears, makes a joke about fetch quests, and the song begins.
This is a song meant to be a joke, in between the previous angst and the angst to come. Lots of jokes about how fetch quests are stupid as Susie demands more parts, and Henry and Buddy find increasingly comical ways to balance huge stacks of parts.
Norman has a very small solo as the Projectionist, where Wally attempts to give him the chance to shine, but he just screams instead. But, it gives Henry enough time to grab the last ink heart and get out.
Puppet Strings - Henry
On the way back to Susie for the last time, Henry notices the Angel and Demon paths for the first time. He convinces Buddy to go down a different one, so they can get both tapes. After listening to both, Henry is distraught over whether or not he should trust that Joey brought him here for a good purpose, or to hurt him.
Henry’s song here is about how Joey seems to be the puppet master of the studio, even after all these years, and that people are getting hurt, so there had better be a good explanation.
By the end of the song, Henry isn’t sure there is anything that could justify this.
Lonely Angel - Susie, Henry, Buddy, Wally
(Think a mix of If Only, Quartet; The Little Mermaid, and Wandering Child; Phantom of the Opera)
Susie promises to Henry and Buddy that they can ride the elevator out. As the two step into the elevator, Wally begins singing about how he wishes stories really could have happy endings.
As the elevator rises, Buddy joins in, wondering if he helped Henry enough.
Suddenly, the elevator stops, and begins to plummet. Susie demands her Boris, and Henry refuses. The two join the singing.
The four parts are overlapping as such:
Wally is now disappointed in how this story doesn’t seem to have a happy ending.
Buddy is hoping that Henry will forgive him for not doing enough to help.
Susie is complaining that she deserves nothing but perfection, and she will take it by force.
Henry is wondering why the lonely angel can’t let go of the past and just move on.
The elevator crashes. Henry wakes up to see Buddy get taken away by Susie. Wally is offstage.
Henry weakly finishes singing, and although he doesn’t change any lyrics, it’s clear that he hasn’t been singing about Susie’s inability to move on from Alice, but his own inability to move on from Joey.
Henry loses consciousness, leading to another blackout.
