guy with a stab wound: he's right she did deserve better
chimney: sir please don't talk i'm trying to save your life right now

guy with a stab wound: please don't it's distracting me from the pain
buck: okay, oh my god and IZZIE?! i hated her! god what is her deal she spends ages angry with alex, gets with denny then cuts his LVAD wire, then marries alex and runs off, then years later gets in contact and ruins alex's relationship with jo?! what a bitch!

“when i was a kid, i would get these headaches, and i went to the doctor, and they said that i needed glasses. i didn’t understand that, it didn’t make sense to me, because i could see fine. and then i get the glasses, and i put them on, and i’m in the car on the way home, and suddenly i yell—because the big green blobs that i had been staring at my whole life, they weren’t big green blobs. they were leaves on trees. i could see the leaves. and i didn’t even know i was missing the leaves. i didn’t even know leaves existed, and then… leaves!” —dr erica hahn on realising you’re gay, grey’s anatomy

The whole scene between Buck and Tommy was so beautifully written I don't even know how anyone can hate on them right now.
It wasn't just the kiss, it was Tommy going to Buck's place to clear things up between them, it was him apologizing when he didn't even have to, it was Buck admitting he was the one to blame and not them, it was Buck admitting he was being jealous, it was Buck telling Tommy how amazing he is, telling him that he asked for a tour because he wanted to get to know him and it was Tommy's reaction to hearing that.
When Buck told Tommy he had been trying to get his attention, Tommy realized that Buck was actually interested in him at the same the audience did. The way Tommy said "my attention?" and we all realized it had been about Tommy all along and not about Eddie? Chef's kiss.
The scene only lasted about 4 minutes but it was an emotional rollercoaster. The whole dialogue was so well written and the actors have so much chemistry.
Oliver Stark's acting was phenomenal, especially after that kiss. There was so much said without words, so many emotions, it's like we saw everything clicking into place in Buck's head in real time. Such a beautiful TV scene.
His reaction has been on my mind a lot and I finally figured why, it made me think about one of my favorite scenes in Grey's Anatomy, when one of the characters, Levi, has a "coming of age" storyline and gives a nice speech to the first guy he ever kissed.
I knew I had feelings for boys, but I didn't understand it. Not until you kissed me. You kissed me, and I felt the opposite of shame. I felt like I existed and everything fell into place.
I feel like Buck said the same thing with just his eyes after Tommy kissed him, and it was beautiful to watch.
I loved their scene and I hope the writers explore their relationship.

I'm just putting this out into the universe (aka: @ Tim Minear). Other than the beautiful found family, one of the reasons I watch and love 911 is because all of my beloveds can be brought within an inch of their lives (or brought back after 3 minutes and 17 seconds) and still live to tell the horrifying tale at the 118 family lunches. I don't care if everything that happens is completely ludicrous. I want...No, I need them alive at the end (this now includes Tommy btw). The absurd survival rate is the exact reason why this is my comfort show. Please, I beg of you. Do not take this away from me.

Yes! Buck's sexuality is so much more than a means to an end, and I'm so genuinely excited to see where they take it from here, Buddie or no Buddie. Especially when Tim, Oliver and ABC all seem genuinely excited to tell this story in a refreshing way and giving us new, positive representation.
No im not “grieving” Buddie, do you know how amazing it is to have queer/bisexual men representation in today’s media? Do you know how important it is for all of the community and the younger people watching this? This is a huge milestone and Buck’s sexuality is valid outside of any type of ship. Today we celebrate.

Hey! It's the first time Buck Begins anon from before!! First of all do not feel bad for rambling - that is exactly what that ask was for! I loved hearing your thoughts!
And to answer your question about how I started watching -- 911 was a show always a show on my 'to watch' radar but I didn't give it much thought? I did watch s1 of lone star tho. until then I saw bi Buck on my dash for the first time after Tommy kisses him and i just went oh??!??! 👀👀 I binge watched season 1 and 2, and then I gave up and ended up watching s7 part 2 live while also watching s3 for the first time 🤣 there were some gaps I had to fill using fanon knowledge but I think it worked? And now I'm furiously trying to watch s4 around my busy work schedule before s8 airs 😅🤣
Hasn't stopped my from reading bucktommy fic or posting gifsets tho. Tommy has bewitched me, I love him. Every time I watch a scene where Buck talks about his love life a part of me is just- don't worry, your man is coming
oh! same here! i'd known about it for years but i'd just avoided it thinking it was just a different take on the same old tired procedural cop shows, or maybe something too dramatised like grey's anatomy. i'm not sure i even realised it was about firefighters until i heard people referring to it as 'the gay firefighter show' and even then i didn't really connect the dots.. 🔥👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨🚒
one of my fave spn blogs (bc i was a destiel girlie before the gay firefighter show consumed my life) was a 911 fan so i learned about bi!buck through her blogging (shoutout to @sunglassesmish: kay, you have changed my life for the better 😚🫶). i mean, i came from spn - where bi!dean is widely considered unacknowledged canon and it's a show now several years past its finale but with a dedicated fanbase still hoping for some kind of reboot or movie or something to fix the shit they did in the finale - to a show with a canon bi character, moreover a character in his 30s who had been presumed (by some)/written as (sorta) straight for 6 whole seasons. and evan buckley.. he's so much like dean wincester: the all american heroic ladies man with a traumatic upbringing and a megawatt smile and babygirl features and a heart of gold who just wants to be loved.. honestly i could write essays about these two.. ✍️
i love that we're on the same page! i started with season 7 (i watched 7x05 and onwards live) and got through seasons 1-3 while s7 was airing week to week, and so my buck knowledge was growing as i excitedly waited for the next ep to air with the rest of fandom (there's just something about that weeklong anticipation, i've missed it so much - the theorising, the time for fanworks, etc). 📺
i was also the same, trying to learn what i could through dash osmosis of the seasons i hadn't watched yet (i knew vaguely about the lightning strike and tried not to spoil myself too much about the family secret but reading fic and meta blew those doors wide open 😅). and even in season 1 i was like: i'm so glad he'll grow to be that person in season 7 one day, that he'll get to be vulnerable and open and earnest and loved and also get kissed by a handsome guy. 🥰
OMG WE ARE BOTH ON SEASON 4!! 🥳 i mean, i knew that, but it's still so exciting to know there are folks out there in the same boat! ⛵ i don't think i've liveblogged any other ep besides Buck Begins, but i think i'll probably do a lightning strike/coma liveblog when i get to it.
omg the amount of bucktommy fics i've consumed since april.. i remember in those early days i was consuming every single fic that got posted on ao3 - about a dozen 1k fics a day - until eventually there was 60+ fics a day and i couldn't keep up, but i'm still reading about 2-5 fics (mostly short ones) a day. this fandom is hella talented. 📚
our love for tommy kinard knows no bounds. 🤝💖🤝 and YES- omg- the way he is just craving love and a partner on the same page as him, someone he can be himself with.. lightning boy will meet him flying into a hurricane and i just think that's neat. ⛈️😘

wow. we’re almost done. what a journey we’ve been on together, jon.
just finished season six and i liked it SO much more than season five. if every episode starred may it still wouldnt be enough for me but im obsessed with the thought that she didnt hesitate for a SECOND to play a moody teenage addict, not to mention the fact that she ate and left not a single crumb. i picture bobby and athena talking about the situation and may piping up from the other room like “i could pretend to be addicted to heroin and infiltrate the cult that probably killed someone” without even looking up from her book. i would die for her.
also, i dont think ive mentioned enough yet how much i adore the couples on this show? so many procedural dramas fish around for plotlines by turning couples against one another, but this show always feels like the couple as a team vs the world’s problems. it’s incredible that they actually give us dedicated scenes to healthy marriages, and like, that’s it. theres no storyline being forwarded, theres no plot point to uncover in the scene. the editor looked at the episode and said “hey, whats the point of bobby and athena going for a run with one another? or this scene of hen and karen watching love island? what does that do for the show?” and the writers said “the point is that they love each other and theyre happy? there does not need to be another reason?” i love that theyre using the space that you get from a multi-season show to really flesh out the relationships in a nuanced way. one of the reasons i really soured on greys anatomy after the early seasons is because they double dosed us with angst and drama. in 911, the writers understand that there’s enough trauma in the jobs theyre doing. they dont need to drop bombs into healthy relationships to keep our attention; the SITUATION keeps our attention, and then the characters keep our INTEREST. if every element of your show is just shock value drama and horrible things happening to beloved characters, the audience gets pretty overwhelmed pretty fast. 911 is a rare example of a long running procedural not falling into the soap-opera pipeline. okay sorry writer rant over. i just really love well written stories.
here we go into season seven. i cannot wait to catch up and i cannot wait to watch evan buckley finally kiss a man! i’ll check back in once im officially done but im so psyched to watch live on thursday with the rest of you guys.
may is a real unsung hero of season six i think. She's so much fun.
the relationships really are were this show soars above the rest. I'm glad you're enjoying that part of it too.
have fun with season seven! the cruise is sooooo well done. I can't wait for you to meet tommy again!

hello y’all! i wanted to introduce myself first and foremost. i’m goldenphoenix4 on ao3 and figured i’d make an ao3-specific tumblr account. i use he/him pronouns and i’m 24 years old.
my current hyper-fixation is the 9-1-1 fandom and particularly the one and only evan buckley. i also have unpublished fics including grey’s anatomy, supernatural, criminal minds, and prodigal son (a couple of which are crossovers).
currently:
rewatching criminal minds. i have ptsd related amnesia so that plus i haven't watched it in full in a few years so it's like the first time all over again
other socials:
- notkarev: main tumblr
- hopperowner: discord
ps. if you find this through the prodigal son tag and you happen to be a therapist, this is in fact your client :)
update: fuck it posting memes on here too

imagine this tho. big man small baby™ but the baby is sick or something so buck picks the baby up and rest her against his check, swaying slowly to calm her down and singing to her softly. BUT he does it shirtless, because it's scientifically proven that skin to skin contact is beneficial for babies and that listening to the heartbeat of the person that's holding them, they'll imitate that heartbeat.
so buck is standing there with a small baby in his big arms, no shirt so you can see his abs and his tattoos and he's singing softly with a small fond smile on his face. the baby is with her face against his chest and her eyes closed, so at peace and no longer crying.
eddie would fucking die, he would cease to exist, he would explode right there at that sight and you can't tell me he wouldn't.

A Whole Lot Stuffed In a Tiny Box
So, I just finished the new episode of 911 and as I have with most of them
I. Have. Words.
(Strap in, I busted out the computer for this one, this is going to be long)
First of all, let’s start with the new characters. I’ll try
Jonah. I like Jonah. He seems chill and overall a great guy. He’s no Chimney but then again no one is. I do think it’s hilarious to watch both Hen and Buck hold on so tightly to the idea of their partners coming back. Nonetheless, Jonah seems cool and I’m excited to see where Hen’s distaste for him goes throughout the season.
Now... Lucy. I’m gonna be honest, until they said her name I spent the entirety of the episode calling her Arielle because I forgot the name of the character. That doesn’t mean that I dislike the character or that I had an issue with her before I even saw the character. No, I was and am super excited to see where her character goes throughout the season. She caused a lot of mayhem in this episode and I’m still on the fence for most of it. Like they told us before the episode premiered, Lucy is like a female Buck 1.0. She flirts with people and with danger frequently.
Speaking of which, I will cover the events of the episode in more detail under the line so as to avoid spoilers for those who haven’t seen the episode yet.
However, as for my brief take on the episode:
Overall, I loved it. A little predictable but with a show that we’ve gotten to know through interviews, copiously watching the previous seasons, and through insights of the fandom it’s kind of hard to surprise this particular audience. Nonetheless, I loved the introductions of the new characters establishing their personalities immediately from the get go, and setting up so many new and interesting things that we have been teased with so far. Such as Buck and Lucy’s whole dynamic, Buck’s rash decision in his relationship with Taylor, Eddie going to therapy, so on and so forth.
My more in depth analysis with direct references to certain moments, lines, and references is beneath the cut.
Spoilers ahead from this point on.
Now that the non-spoiler crew is gone. Welcome to my TedTalk.
Let’s start with Hen and Jonah. Now, most of us know that Chimney and Maddie ARE coming back this season. The promos have even shown Chimney in his uniform. However, I cannot stress how satisfying it is to see how Hen’s been feeling since Chimney left. Her constant prodding and insistence that Jonah was temporary was both entertaining and made me feel bad for Jonah cause he seems like a cool dude who’s just trying to do his job with the house that apparently like EVERY firefighter wants to work with. I’m hoping to see a little more comradery between Hen and Jonah develop in the next few episodes.
Next I want to talk about the comparison of Hen and Jonah to Buck and Eddie. It wasn’t subtle in the slightest that they were drawing direct comparison’s between Hen and Buck both believing so strongly that their partner is coming back. (Also, Want to mention how much I loved seeing the interactions between Hen and Buck. Especially the one in the Uber with the callback to hen cheating on Karen in an earlier season. Getting to see her view on it now and where she stand compared to where she stood is just awesome.) There is a difference however in the two. Whereas Chimney told Hen that he would be coming back when he left, Eddie never made the same promise to Buck when he left. I think that this speaks to a big theme of Buck and Eddie’s relationship of how they don’t really needs words to communicate b/c they know each other so well: the will, on the job, Ana and the blackout, pretty much every other scene with them in it. A large portion of their relationship has been about them being able to predict the others moves because of how well they know each other.
That being said, however, (and I’m not getting into the Buddie parts of the episode that I saw just yet I’ gonna save that for its own post) Buck did know exactly what Eddie was going through without having to have Eddie tell him. He knew that Eddie was tired and hadn’t been sleeping, and he knew that Eddie missed his job and didn’t want to do anything else. What has also been big this season is Buck knowing Eddie and Eddie kind of pushing Buck away and wanting to handle it all on his own. I’ll get more into this in another post but I wanted to mention it now cause I realized all of this as I was typing this post.
Moving on to Buck and Taylor. Holy shit does this show know how to implode a relationship. We knew from the last promo that Buck and Lucy kissed, but I was hoping that it was BT breaks up and then Buck kisses Lucy not the other way around. Unfortunately, this is what we got. As I was sitting there watching it happen I just kept saying “Don’t do it. Don’t do it. Buck no. Buck. Fuckin don’t.” AAAANNNNNDDD he did it. Now, I know that Buck is a people pleaser and he just wants people to stay and he’s been untethered since Maddie and Chimney left and then Eddie left the station, but goddammit did he have to throw that particular wrench. I’m just getting attached to Taylor and my favorite good boy has just made this so complicated. I am both terrified and excited to watch this blow up in his face.
Okay I think that is it for this post I wanted to include something else b/c it’s not exactly Buddie related (as my next post will almost entirely be) but I think this post is long enough as it is.
Have a nice night and for those of you who actually managed to finish this behemoth, enjoy this dog eating a cookie.
