welp. i apparently played a trick on myself or something. got asked to recommend a specific kind of older electronic music by a friend. remembered one album i had on fucking loop as a kid, and refound one of my favorite songs from it. like, whenever i was on a computer, i'd pull a specific danny phantom amv up with that song just to listen to and nothing else for a month straight (note: this is like pre 2007 youtube so i manually had to loop).
anyways relistening to the song ONCE! ONCE!!! has it now be on loop on my head again for the first time in likely 15 years.

This is such a silly and stupid idea but I am desperate for a Yandere x Reader where the Yandere is this extremely paranoid/depressed fuck who thinks the world is diseased and the only way for it to get clean is to get rid of all human life on it, they are willing to kill for a "better cause" and have absolutely no mercy...and then there is Reader (the only person they don't hate entirely), who is into Eurodance, is extremely positive and is a complete fashion disaster who believes it is good in everything and everyone.
This is very much based on my recent obsession with Planet of the Bass but let's not talk about it lol.
I just want these two completely opposite bitches to try and teach each other their points of view while one slowly falls in love with the other
[Here's a blurbo I had in limbo with a similar plot. Yan is indeed depressed/hates the world and Reader's moreso into rave because I dunno anything about Eurodance. Tw: themes of suicide]
This is it. Their final night alive.
They'd done all they needed. Returned a book collecting dust on their desk. Disposed of the tools used on corpses in some other lake to keep their name from more attention. It's crazy how in their last moments all that mattered was the thoughts and options of those who lead them to this fate. How disgusting. They did their victims a favor by leaving them nameless. The murky waters below reflect a dread known long before the plunge. There is nothing waiting for them. Not here. Not on the other side.
Their final night alive. Or so it would have been.
Right as they climbed on the bridge's ledge, back facing the sky, small beads of light rose from the hill adjacent. The tiny orbs merge into separate distinct figures on the horizon. Wheeling onto the scene, the group ride with vehicles unusual for the terrain. Rollerskates, skateboards, electric scooters. They wear some matter of bright clothing with glowsticks and lights dangling from their person in flashy jewelry and attached to headphones they wore. They all seemed to be equipped with some type of earwear and dancing to their own beat while still moving as one.
The group stop at the other side of the road, all oblivious to the shadow lurking across the way. They glared - climbing down from the ledge and sitting upon it, seething. The group may not notice them now, but they'd surely catch on at most inconvenient time. It would seem their presence wasn't completely ignored as one head turns their way. One of the figures wearing skates waves, pointing to one of the many necklaces around their neck. The shadow avoids their smile, praying they get the message.
They don't.
Sparkling wheels crunch over gravel. "Hey."
Silence.
They remove their headphones. "Hey!"
Nothing. Persisting, the person wheels over to the railing, leaning against it as they breath in the salty air. "Long drop down. Won't be quick."
As if that would deter them.
"I won't get on your case. We've all been there at some point. Life sucks, and then you did. Feels like your taking control by going out on your own terms, but you won't and may never will. That's why it's important to enjoy the little things. It's why I hang out with those guys. We get together every once and a while. Party on wheels as some of us call it. Lots of fun."
The party-goer takes off their headphones and places their music player on the railing. "This is what I listen to when I'm down. Maybe it can help you. Maybe not - but I'd like you to return it some day. My name is Y/n, by the way. Just so you know when we meet again."
You take off your necklace and offer it to them. They take it - just to get you to leave them alone. You solemnly wave again, returning to your group and taking over the mantle of carrying the portable speaker another brought with them. You take their arm, balancing skillfully on your wheels as you dance the fleeting night away with no care of the coming dawn.
Your type were the worse of all. Giving them more tasks to complete before they departed from this miserable world. They hated carrying the duties given by others on their shoulders so much they couldn't pass on, but looking at your smiling face, sorting through the music that got you through the toughest - they couldn't see themselves from fulfilling their end of the deal you set anywhere in the near future.
For once in their life living in someone's else's shadow didn't seem so bad.

Music artists that always make me fell happy and alive
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Empire of the sun ☀️
Empire of the Sun's music has a unique ability to evoke feelings of genuine happiness and carefreeness through its dreamy, uplifting soundscapes and vibrant energy. Their use of bright synths, catchy melodies, and rhythmic beats creates a sense of escapism that transports you to a world of positivity and joy. The lyrics often carry a message of optimism and wonder, while their fusion of electronic and pop elements adds a playful, lighthearted vibe. Together, these elements form an immersive experience that feels effortless and liberating, making their music a go-to for boosting your mood.
Charly XCX ☀️
Charli XCX's music channels that 2014 Tumblr "bad bitch" energy straight into your veins with her unapologetic attitude, bold lyrics, and futuristic production. Her sound is a mix of hyper-pop, edgy beats, and rebellious vibes that make you feel empowered and unstoppable. Songs like Von Dutch and Roll With Me blend sass, confidence, and a carefree spirit that taps into that iconic Tumblr aesthetic — where neon lights, internet culture, and self-expression ruled. It's a blend of nostalgia and raw power, giving you that fearless, no-holds-barred energy.
Pitbull ☀️
Pitbull’s music is all about bringing that larger-than-life party energy, making you feel like you’re unstoppable and ready to take over the world. With his infectious beats, high-energy rhythms, and signature catchphrases, Pitbull’s tracks instantly make you want to hit the dance floor and live in the moment. His blend of Latin influence, rap, and pop creates an atmosphere of celebration and confidence, like you're in the middle of an endless summer night. Mr. Worldwide makes you feel like you own every room you walk into, exuding charisma and that "let’s get it" attitude. Dale!!
Gigi D’Agostino ☀️
Gigi D'Ag and Eurodance hold a special place in the hearts of Europeans because they capture the essence of an era defined by freedom, unity, and unfiltered emotional. Tracks like L’Amour Toujours and Bla Bla Bla are timeless anthems that blend catchy, melodic beats with euphoric rhythms, creating a sense of shared nostalgia. Eurodance, with its high-energy beats and uplifting vocals, became the soundtrack of youth for many across Europe, reflecting a time when borders blurred through music and collective joy was found in clubs and festivals. Gigi D'Agostino, in particular, infused emotional depth into the genre, adding that signature Italian flair, making his tracks feel both intimate and universally epic. It's more than just music—it's a cultural phenomenon that speaks to unity, joy, and a love for life.
AVICII ☀️
yeah and now I'm crying
The music of the early 2010s by artists like David Guetta, Avicii, Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, and WALK THE MOON captured a sense of carefree joy and happiness that defined the era. These songs were upbeat, infectious, and full of energy, making you want to dance, celebrate, and live in the moment.
Whether it was the euphoric beats of Guetta’s and Harris' EDM anthems or the heartfelt, sing-along lyrics of WALK THE MOON’s Shut Up and Dance, the music had a way of lifting your spirits and making everything feel light and fun. Avicii’s tracks blended folk melodies with electronic drops, giving a sense of freedom and adventure, while Ellie Goulding’s dreamy voice added a sense of wonder and optimism to every song she touched.
In essence, these artists created a soundtrack for good times — nights out with friends, summer festivals, and spontaneous road trips. Their music evoked a carefree, almost timeless joy, transporting listeners to a place where worries faded away and the focus was on pure, unfiltered fun.

Crosses fan?:3 (duh but still.) if u have any other fave songs by them, feel free to share them!
I am! I have all the EPs and albums on limited vinyl. Some classic faves of mine are The Epilogue, Telepathy, Bitches Brew, Frontiers, Option, Blk Stallion. Prurient and This is a Trick I can only take in doses haha
Off the newer album I'm liking Invisible Hand (although I may have overplayed it lol), Found, the intro, synths, sampling and transitions on Light as a Feather, Big Youth, Ghost Ride, Eraser, Natural Selection, Girls Float † Boys Cry (our emo father and savior Robert Smith), and Good Night, God Bless, I Love U, Delete.
I also like how the first EPs/Album is dark, occultist, dance club, eurodance inspired and the latest album is very Joy Division, The Cure, 80s synth inspired with bassy elements with a dash of hip hop haha.
I will definitely share music on here and my full vinyl collection of Crosses when I open these damn things.

2 Unlimited - "Let the Beat Control Your Body" 1994 Eurohouse / Eurodance
Yeesh. Although their run of hits in the US would pretty much end by the Autumn of 1993, Belgian-Dutch dance project 2 Unlimited would continue to pump out a lot more singles over the next few years, prolonging their clenched grip on the collective European charts. And this plainly bad song of theirs that they had clearly made for mindless raving, which, noncoincidentally, sounded like the simplest and dumbest lead melody that they had crafted yet, exemplified just how enamored people all across the continent still were with them.
The US arenas had picked up two of the group's prior hits off of their No Limits album—“No Limit" and "Tribal Dance"—but this one that was a clear appeal to ravers seemed to be a bit too much for an American sports crowd to handle, and as such, failed to chart in any capacity. But starting in 1995, despite 2 Unlimited never achieving another significant American hit ever again, their notoriety would only increase, thanks to their most successful US singles being included on the first four volumes of Jock Jams, all of which were songs that they had already released between 1991 and 1993.
This video's a total trip, though. Once it opens with a close-up on an eyeball, you know you're gonna be in for some wild shit, and in that regard, it doesn't disappoint. While the song itself was made to be inserted into rave sets, the group also seems to have been fully cognizant of just how associated their music had become with sports and fitness too, as the video hard cuts between a lot of stuff, including gymnasts in silver bodysuits and rapper Ray Slijngaard doing shirtless bicep curls. Plus, there's also some darling early 90s graphics and someone in one of those dizzying gyroscope things too! 😵🤢
More fun videos here.

Sega Dreamcast - PSYVARIAR 2 The Will to Fabricate
Title: PSYVARIAR 2 The Will to Fabricate / サイヴァリア2 ザ・ウィル・トゥ・ファブリケート
Developer/Publisher: SKONEC / Success Corp.
Release date: 26 February 2004
Catalogue No.: T-9907M
Genre: Shooting
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PSYVARIAR 2 The Will to Fabricate is 2004's best offering for Dreamcast shooting fans and is certainly not to be sniffed at. Developed by the Korean company Skonec and released in the arcades by Success, this shooter has got to be one of the most original ones out there alongside Treasure's Ikaruga.
At first glance, Psyvariar 2 looks to be a blatant rip-off of Ikuraga with its flashy camera angles, fast fast-moving backgrounds with multiple layers of clouds but that's where the similarities end. Psyvariar 2 has NO power-ups nor Speed-ups to collect. The only way to power and speed up your craft (robot) is by using the BUZZ system. This is achieved by skimming your craft against the sides of the thousands of oncoming bullets. The more BUZZ chains you can achieve, the more powerful your craft will become. This system doesn't feel so good at first since your craft moves so slow with such a lousy firing rate. But after a little experimenting, I found that if you "shake" your craft from side to side a few times, it will start to roll. Enabling it to fire out bullets at a much faster rate whilst allowing you to move quicker to dodge the enemies' oncoming attacks.
Psyvariar 2 takes place over 6 (even though I can only access 5 for some odd reason) short but action-packed stages. Each stage is as beautiful as the last with each featuring a giant boss at the end that takes no mercy in throwing everything it has at you. Whilst some of the backgrounds could do with a much further draw distance. They make up for it in detail. The first-level boss is a prime example of sheer beauty by the way it fires 5 beams down to the earth resulting in one of the most beautiful (If an explosion can be called beautiful) explosions ever seen in a video game.
The Dreamcast title, Boarder Down, was criticized greatly for its music. Whilst I liked it, it could have been better. Well, being Asian I love the music in Psyvariar 2 with its Eurodance-style tracks (think Cascada's 'Everytime We Touch'). Try to imagine a Marc Snow track mixed with a bit of Euro rave with a tiny bit of Taito's Zuntata Team's music and that would probably be a pretty close comparison to what we have in Psyvariar 2. All in all, great stuff (^v^)
Earlier I wrote that there are 6 stages, but I can only access 5 of them. How the 6th stage is accessed I've yet to find out. I've finished the game with the woman character on ALL level settings including Very Hard but still, there is no 6th stage. If you look at the ranking tables, you'll notice that the top scores all have AREA 6 next to the score. Could this be some hidden level that will be revealed after playing for so long? Or must the game be complete with both characters? If so, you'll be in for a hard time since the male character's game is far more difficult than the woman's. The guy's bomb is next to useless, and his weapon seems to be far weaker than the woman's too. Maybe there's a point to this that I'm missing. All will be revealed once I've read or struggled through the instruction book.
So, is Psyvariar 2 The Will to Fabricate worth getting? In short, YES!! It's far better looking than Border Down. It's far more original than Ikuraga in my opinion but it is quite short. Then again, completing the game with the male character will keep you busy for quite some time. I've only had Psyvariar 2 for two days now but have already played it 8 times while Puyo Puyo Fever has only been on twice. So, it's certainly got that addictiveness to it.
My copy came with this cool Psyvariar 2 dog tag courtesies of Sega Direct. (photo from a discontinued website) I don't have a dog right now but if I did, it'd be cool.

a list of the most specific gobb headcanons of mine, because this is my blog and i post what i want
Banban: every friday for morning announcements, he opens by saying "happy friday everyone! you made it!" before queuing poor-quality, choppy eurodance playing from his work laptop on youtube and into the microphone. -
Banbaleena: she plays with littlest pet shops as a coping mechanism. -
Jumbo josh: he's a capybara with a giant capybara harness that he puts on whenever him and nabnaleena go on walks together. walking means nabnaleena just sits on his head and points at where she wants him to go, and he does. -
Stinger flynn: stinger flynn and nabnab are bros. nabnab stops by from time to time to let things off his chest, and stinger flynn listens. -
Nabnab: his voice claim is MC Ride. also, his favorite death grips song is "disappointed" from year of the snitch. -
Nabnaleena: her original room before she moved in with nabnab looked like this, and she listens to the monster high fright song nightcore version.
Tumblr media
Opila Bird: she's filipino and lets jumbo josh babysit her chicks during the weekend. -
Captain Fiddles: he's great at keeping a low-profile despite knowing almost everything about other people. he's an aspiring ninja, or so he likes to call it. -
Slow Seline: she loves to read manga! she also tends to her own small garden and enjoys making terrariums. she also decorates her room quite often, hanging up new posters and growing her collection of stuffed animals. -
Bittergiggle: his singing voice matches 100 gecs strangely well. he knows all the lyrics to "i got my tooth removed" and can recite it by heart. -
Sheriff Toadster: he's a juggalo because bittergiggle got him into ICP. -
Queen Bouncelia: she enjoys providing for people as much as jumbo josh does, and hosting kingdom events is always really fun for her. she also enjoys flowers and pretty lights. -
Chamataki: ADHDtistic. he has a bad habit of backseat gaming and gets sidetracked when talking about newgrounds minecraft parodies, but is overall nice to talk to.
Tamataki: a calm turtle who watches youtube poops in his spare time. he's a technical guy and invests a lot of time in complex minecraft builds on his personal superflat world. both chamataki and tamataki have matching kandi necklaces crafted by nabnaleena herself. -
Kittysaurus: threatens and insults people using warrior cats terminology, like calling humans "twolegs" or saying "mouse-brain" to others. -
Mr. Kabob Man: his voicelines were hacked by nabnab and replaced with youtube poop samples. now whenever he's brought around, he can say "spaghetti!" upon entrance.

What disappointed you about the full planet of the bass song?
uh the new content:old content ratio was minimal, and it felt like a lot of the new content was not adding anything or like. didn't really hit why i liked the original.
so like the dj crazy times intro. the idea with the non-potb tiktoks is its just a collection of random things a eurodance dj might say, devoid of context. this is indicated by i think there's a cut between each and the music resets to the intro. It kinda doesn't work as well in one fluid thing in the video.
also some of the pieces are cut up poorly i think, like. 'bratislava / all the women of the world! / let me see your beautiful faces' doesn't work nearly as well as 'Sarajevo! let me see your beautiful faces!' and 'to all the women of the world! i love you and feel groove let's go'
the intro verse i think is a miss for me, like the Bad English vocals doesn't hit the way it does in the chorus and imo the instrumental is a lot less engaging than the chorus
the phonecall i like. appreciate it's trying to do something but it doesn't work for me at all idk

KYLE GORDON FT. DJ CRAZY TIMES AND MS. BILJANA ELECTRONICA - "PLANET OF THE BASS"
youtube
Time to find out once and for all who hates fun!
[3.50]
Crystal Leww: A fun weird thing that happened this year is that Kyle Gordon premiered "Planet of the Bass" at the party that I book called hulaHOOP, which is a trance, Eurodance, and euphoric dance music party that I started this year with two of my best friends. He was a last-minute add to our lineup, which was filled with friends and artists that we admire from around the world who are not white, not straight, and not dudes. I have nothing bad to say about Kyle Gordon, a guy who genuinely seems to love Aqua and Vengaboys, treated our team and the club staff with nothing but respect, and willingly took a ten minute slot that we gave him. But it was very weird to see "Planet of the Bass" become the center of conversation for a Eurodance and trance revival well underway that had been for a while spearheaded by mostly not white dudes. None of this stuff should be taken that seriously -- I'm on Team Dance Music Should Be Fun -- but it's kinda sad that something as goofy as the Eurodance revival still gets dominated by bros who are not even that good at the music part of it. The day before our party, Boiler Room dropped sets from La Darude, the collective from Paris that is really spearheading a lot of this stuff. Suggest you listen to those instead to embrace the goofy, euphoric whimsy from people who are really, really in it. [4]
Kat Stevens: I don't mind people taking the piss if it's banging, but this is just spiteful. [1]
Oliver Maier: If you are here reading this website you probably don't need me to explain all the ways that this isn't particularly spot-on as Eurodance pastiche. Maybe someone else will do it for me. Fortunately, "Planet of the Bass" gets the most important thing right, which is to have fun. It's pretty funny (throwaway 30 Rock joke/10) and pretty catchy (memorable, but not an earworm/10). Try though I might, I simply have no strong feelings about "Planet of the Bass"! Takes, I'm wanting more. [5]
Jonathan Bradley: Taken beyond meme length, "Planet of the Bass" seems increasingly dubious: are silly accents and ESL phrases actually hilarious, or is this tired American condescension? Forgive me for imposing some level of scrutiny on that lowest from of entertainer -- the internet comedian -- but the DJ Crazy Times project fails for its sloppiness about the details. Purportedly a parody of '90s Eurodance, it sounds more like it belongs to the 2000s than alongside "Rhythm is a Dancer," "Another Night," or "The Rhythm of the Night." It also posits its performers as central European or Balkan, while the big hits from the time it seeks to parody came from nations that hadn't just emerged from behind the Iron Curtain: Germany, Italy, the Netherlands. Maybe Slavs are supposed to be inherently more ridiculous than western Europeans? But the weakest quality of "Planet of the Bass" -- what makes it fail as a song rather than a gag -- is that it isn't interested in what the Eurodance acts of the '90s were doing with their big boshing beats and unusual syntax: adopting simple English phrases that could be understood in a club across the continent, regardless of which of the dozens of Europeans languages might be spoken there, yet still communicating a sense of dancefloor yearning that plays anywhere from Copenhagen to Cordoba. [2]
Will Adams: Like most viral memes today, "Planet of the Bass" was pummeled into oblivion in a matter of weeks. The life cycle of a joke landing to the jokester re-telling the joke (keep 'em laughing!) to the resentment of the joke to discourse about the joke to, finally, the chatter fizzling out... this isn't new. That's not the issue. The song is fine. The chorus is quite good; I trust that Kyle Gordon knows his Eurodance references -- I'm getting equal parts the goofy dude rap of Aqua and Toy-Box and the emotive female vocal of Matrix's "Can You Feel It" and Vengaboys' "Superfly Slick Dick." The issue is that the core joke belongs to the genre of "ESL? LOL!" comedy (hi Brian Jordan Alvarez!) that generally has a short shelf life. [5]
David Moore: I only recognize one TikTok meme as a legitimate 2023 banger, and it is "Sitting" by T.J. Mack, the alter ego of comedian Brian Jordan Alvarez. (The Paul F. Tompkins big band version is great, too.) [1]
Rachel Saywitz: Sometimes what goes viral on TikTok should stay viral on TikTok. [0]
Katherine St Asaph: Kyle Gordon appears to be a bit of an asshole, but an asshole with some genuine appreciation for the genre and for Y2K visual aesthetics. But regardless of how much Eurodance he's heard, he does not seem to realize that their English lyrics were almost never this bad -- and that deliberately bad English is both rarely funny and never emotionally charged like the real songs were. Should have stayed a meme reel on Croatia Roosevelt Island. [4]
Hannah Jocelyn: This doesn't understand what makes those songs great beyond the most obvious signifiers of broken English -- even shit like "The Fox" had a euphoric EDM outro that made at least one person in my life say "wait, is this actually good?" (No.) "Planet of the Bass" aims for that transcendence, but the production does the bare minimum, and nothing in the song is as beautifully unhinged as "I'm as serious as cancer when I say rhythm is a dancer." But "Planet of the Bass" brought me as much joy as anything else this year: a loved one and I constantly quote the spoken-word bridge, itself lifted from a deep cut that shows Kyle Gordon knows his shit. If that knowledge was translated to a stronger arrangement, we would have an all-timer parody song on our hands. But we'll always have the immortal affirmation "women are my favorite guy." [6]
Tara Hillegeist: As Gordons getting their five minutes of fame out of the way off a techno-type beat and meme-ready lyrics go, I'd genuinely much rather be listening to "Gordon Kill the Thomas". Peanuts-kun at least extends their socmed-ready pisstake with some wild, one might even say creative, decisions; "Planet of the Bass", by contrast, can't even get its feet motivated enough to reach the dancefloor. I would be lying if I said the bonehead genius of pastiche lyrics like "women are my favorite guy" inspired utterly no joy in me, of course, but as a full song, this misses the Vengabus. [3]
John S. Quinn-Puerta: Disney Channel Original Trance Song [5]
Nortey Dowuona: Half of this is BASS. The other part is a barely-there repeat of circa-'05 pop dance I'd hear in Torino. [3]
Tim de Reuse: Reviewing musical comedy is hard because you have to ask whether it's funny. And then when the answer is "the first time, I guess," you have to ask whether the music is good. And then when the answer is "it's unremarkable," you've run out of things to talk about. [3]
Joshua Minsoo Kim: No one who is actually funny will take a joke and try to milk it for all he can. That's just disrespectful to the craft. Even if this were initially amusing, the moment that Kyle Gordon dropped the full song is when he went from comedian to content creator. [0]
Will Rivitz: TSJ in 2014: collectively unable to parse that a Eurotrash genre sendup could be sublime. TSJ in 2016: collectively unable to parse that a Eurotrash genre sendup (except for at least one of us!) could be sublime. TSJ in 2023: admittedly, this song is no QT or Charli, but it rips regardless. I hope we've learned our lesson. [8]
Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: All jokes aside, that's genuinely an all-time great dance-pop hook. It's a shame about the other 2 minutes of the song, though! [5]
Aaron Bergstrom: This could have been a clever tweet (I'll admit that I chuckled at "women are my favorite guy" the first time), but instead it's a three and a half minute song that overstays its welcome by at least two. By the end he's basically just doing Borat. [3]
Taylor Alatorre: Those European people to the east of the Rhine -- they don't speak the English too good, do they? And they sure do love their bass-thumping, fist-pumping club music, right? Well, at least in the '90s they did. Now it's a different decade, and they like some different kinds of electronic music than that. But still, we could make pretend like we're back in the '90s and excavate a harmless, beloved, frozen-in-amber genre for the purpose of mocking I mean "celebrating" it, and have our YouTube TikTok comedian guy say some sex-obsessed and politically naïve phrases that probably sounded funnier as a recurring bit on Twitter than they do when spoken aloud. That's something, right? Ylvis still appears in Uber One ads, right? [3]
Brad Shoup: It rocks that he made a Eurodance track for locals and when the locals finally heard it, they had no idea what to do with it. The structure and timbre are dead on--I particularly enjoyed the electro freestyle ostinato--but the deep-fried Continental English stopped being funny real fast. There's just something really beautiful about European dance-pop: the way that shamelessness and fun can carry idiosyncratics like Hit'n'Hide or Rednex over the border. "Planet of the Bass" gets at a little of both, but it mostly feels like a joke about Slavic hustle. I guess I'll wait for the third-wave ska parody. [4]
Ian Mathers: Brevity is the soul of wit. Chorus is still pretty good, though! [5]
