i don't know how many ways i can beg people to please please check the fucking exchange rate before making a donation---when you don't check and you make teeny tiny donations in weaker currencies, that costs the person on the other end because their campaigns get less support. do you know it takes so much longer to fundraise in weaker currencies that i have seen some palestinians prematurely close out campaigns in currencies such as SEK and try to open new ones, from scratch, in higher currencies like USD and EUR?

this is yet another stupid bureaucratic way that US hegemony and the dominance of the US dollar end up costing people their lives, and you can prevent it by simply taking 5 seconds yourself to google and figure out how much 5 or 10 USD is worth in the currency you're donating in. even campaigns that state the exchange rate in their gofundme, even Mohammed's campaign where i constantly state the exchange rate in my posts, some of you simply cannot be bothered to do basic math and instead you donate piddling little amounts that are way less than what you give to other campaigns.

i don't know what else to even say at this point except that he, and his 27-person family, need that 5 USD or 10 USD---approximately 52 krona or 125 krona, if you still cannot be bothered to look it up---he needs the same donation amounts you consider reasonable in higher currencies, his need is not any less just because he is fundraising in SEK!

Long story long:

I'm an artist, a queer activist, a writer and a LARPer. I'm employed full-time plus doing some side gigs plus trying to sell my artworks, but salaries in Ukraine just aren't that great. I'm making monthly about $1200 and half of that goes for the rent. Some medical bills for my partner and my doggo already left me with about -1750 USD on my credit card. I got another credit card approved for the surgery specifically and my partner and I are planning to move out to a cheaper place in December, but I’m planning the surgery for October, so paying off the debts will be hard for a while.

I know there're a lot of causes closer to home, whenever that home is for you. If I'm honest that's why I try to ask people from outside Ukraine bc here every donation we have to make is for the survival of our people. Something like a top surgery is frivoulos compared to that.

But if you do have a spare couple of dollars, they would make a huge difference for me. The exchange rate is 1USD=40UAH, so yeah. I would be tremendously happy for any donation you can make.

It's been a really rough few months so I was quiet for a bit, but I'm now in a better position to do art, so I'm beginning the process of advertising again.

I'm currently only accepting traditional work, not digital; my primary medium is watercolour, but I can do pencil or pen drawings too, and I'm open to mixed media. I prefer not to draw humanoid characters. If you want the physical item as well as a scan/photo of your commission, we can discuss that during consultation.

I work for £10 (gbp) an hour, with additional £1 charges for backgrounds or additional (more than 2) characters. (some current exchange rates: £10 gbp = $13.04 usd = €11.85 eur)

What is Forex Currency Pairs?

buying or selling one forex pair against another. It’s like the currencies are in a constant tug of war. This is caused by the rapid fluctuations of the exchange rate.

What is Base Currency & Quote Currency?

The first currency of a forex pair is called “Base Currency”. Base currency represents how much is needed to buy a single unit of the second currency or quote currency in a forex pair.

Similarly, the second pair is called “Quote Currency”. They are separated with a forward slash (“/”). Currency quotes is the amount of units of the quote currency you will need to exchange one unit of base currency.

For example, 1 Dollar, 1 Pound, 1 Euro, etc. The calculation is- 1 unit of Base Currency can buy X units of the quote currency.
