Why did I leave the big tasks for the week to today... it's A-level results day I'm going to be talking to heartbroken teenagers every twenty minutes
#happy a-level results day to all who celebrate hope it's gone well.#but unfortunately i am only going to be talking to the ones where it hasn't gone well

it's so funny that char fixates on amuro cause he believes the two of them to be kindred spirits and meanwhile amuro has never understood a literally single goddamn thing char ever says to him

Thinking about Shirley Jackson and Anne Perry. And thinking especially about Perry’s long, happy life and incredible literary productivity, how the real world inspiration for Mary Katherine Blackwood was able to live a life of the imagination to great acclaim.
And what I cannot stop thinking is that perhaps Shirley Jackson could have lived a longer life, written more books, been happier, if she had also been able to commit just one, single horrific murder in her life. I’m agnostic as to who, but her mother is high on the list.

These are articles from just the week after it was released, from just one paper. Didn't even include the reviews in the Arts section.
The Netflix series adolescence was kind of obviously British propaganda aimed at British parents

I suppose I feel strongly that "Narcissus falls in love with his own reflection", "Romeo and Juliet kill themselves rather than live without a partner they met five days ago", and "whatever Heathcliff and Catherine had going on" should all fall under the territory of "love" that we're trying to mark out. Whereas it seems like today's discussion would definitely exclude Narcissus, probably exclude Cathy and Heathcliff while they were both alive but definitely after Cathy dies, and I suspect exclude Romeo and Juliet as well.
it's probably because I'm the empath mutual.
#the narcissus situation is obvs the most on-topic. and the one where fewest people would agree with me#but i really am completely on board with completely and even definitionally unreciprocated love as a concept.#please nobody mention that none of these things actually happened btw#most people's idea of love comes from much less legible sources imo
