Getting back into my Sunday #cooking routine... decided to make my favorite #Ethiopian dish, #SigaWot (#lambstew) today...put it with traditional salad with #ayib cheese, #injera (bought from Awash), and a red wine vinaigrette with #Berbere, the most delicious Ethiopian spice mix. The stew was cooked with onions, garlic, and ginger, sautéed in ghee and tomato paste, chopped tomatoes, and berbere. Got creative and made it into #tacos too... why not. 😋 Hungry? Gétatchèw Kassa - Tezeta (Slow) I've been retracing and discovering some more vintage/traditional World Music to broaden my knowledge on Eastern music, particularly Ethiopean Jazz, after being influenced and complimented by the work of Mulatu Astatke since the summer of 2015. As a developing instrumentalist and musical arranger, I allow myself to be motivated by the 'forgotten' fundamentals with music history, and also the variation of sounds that bare similarities to my personal expressions and illustrations. I'm only a few days into this new discovered compilation album entitled 'Éthiopiques Volume 10: Tezeta - Ethiopian Blues & Ballads' (the tenth installation of the Éthiopiques' series), and I am very gracious to have experience this monumental release. Near the closing segments of this album Gétatchèw Kassa is featured with a composition called 'Tezeta (Slow)' from the year 1972, (he has a 'Fast' version on here as well) a traditional composition covered a handful on times on this album. The guitar solo of this Ethio-Folk expression is very earthy and meditative, which caught my ear instantly.
