A/N - I decided to base this on an au where Ethan is in his last year of high school & M/N is in his second year of high school.

M/N stood in the hallway of his high school, trying not to be seen. He had been relentlessly bullied for the past year for being trans. M/N hated it, always being called names.

M/N's older brother, Ethan was however always by his side. Though Ethan wasn't fully aware of everything, he didn't know his brother was bullied for being trans specifically.

Then one of M/N's classmates, a guy named Derek walked up to M/N along with Derek's minions. "Look! It's the faggot!" Derek laughed as he pushed M/N into the locker.

"Leave me alone, Derek," M/N muttered as he was pushed into the locker. He hated high school, all because of the bullying. Derek didn't stop, of course, he didn't. Derek just continued pushing M/N into the lockers, taunting him.

"C'mon, fag! Fight me! Fucking coward!" Derek laughed and M/N tried to push him off but it wasn't so easy. Then he saw a figure dash towards them, it was Ethan. He had gone to get something he'd forgotten in his classroom when he saw his younger brother being bullied by Derek & his group.

"Leave him alone, you piece of shit!" Ethan yelled as he pushed Derek to the ground. Derek stood up and glared at Ethan. "Why are you defending this homo freak!" Derek said in an angered tone. Ethan spaced out and just swung at Derek, hitting him in the face.

"That homo freak is my brother! So you keep his name out of your fucking mouth!" Ethan yelled as he kept punching Derek until he got enough of it, his fist being bloody and Derek's face being bloody. Derek ran off with his friends, yelling names.

Ethan looked at M/N and laughed. "Sorry, got a little carried away," Ethan said in an embarrassed tone and M/N just laughed along. "Thanks for protecting me, Ethan," M/N thanked his brother and Ethan just ruffled his hair.

"You're my brother, I couldn't let those punks treat you like that, I'm the only one allowed to tease you," Ethan said proudly as he heard teachers. "Oh fuck, gotta run! Catch you back home, bro!" Ethan said as he ran away, M/N just chuckled and nodded.

"Yeah, see you back home, brother."

#11 - ‘I almost lost you’ kiss

It was another sunny day in LA, and the gentle breeze made it the perfect day for you to go out on a bike ride around town, especially since it was one of your first full days off in a long time. Not that you didn’t love your job, of course it was amazing to be able to work with your best friends every day, but a break from being constantly on the go is always welcome in your books. You had managed to find a fairly quiet route through town, going past a dog park without coming across too many people, which only added to your feelings of contentment as you rode smoothly along on your bike with your helmet on that your mother had drilled into your head that you always have to wear “just in case”. Turns out mother really does know best.

You came to a section of the road where the bike lane disappears for a few hundred metres, forcing you to have to merge onto the main road with the cars. Normally that would be fine, and you did all the right checks before moving across. However, the woman pulling out of the side road didn’t do the right checks, assuming that the road would be clear as she was in a bit of a rush. This meant that the front of her car went right into your bike’s back wheel as you almost passed her, sending you spinning off your bike and onto the ground, skidding slightly on the rough surface of the road.

“Oh my god! Holy shit! Oh fuck!” You heard a voice yell, followed by the sound of doors slamming, which only made your head hurts even more than it did from the sudden impact.

“I’m so so sorry! Are you okay? Please tell me you’re okay!” The voice said frantically, and you looked up to meet the woman’s eyes. She was very obviously distressed and freaking out even more than you were, even though you were the one who almost got hit by a car for Christ’s sake. You forced a smile and pushed yourself up into a sitting position, wincing slightly from the grazes on your elbows.

“I think I’m alright. You didn’t get me, just the back of my bike, and I had my helmet on so...” you trailed off, glancing at your body and realising that you had actually got very lucky with your injuries, as your grazed arms and legs seemed to be the extent of the damage, since neither the car nor the bike had been moving that fast.

“Are you sure? Oh my god I’m so sorry, I just didn’t see you and then it was too late!” The woman was still panicking, her phone in hand, make you aware for the first time that she had called an ambulance to come and help you.

“Hey, it’s okay, it was an accident, and I’m honestly fine, I promise.” You reassured her, attempting to calm her down, before hearing the wail of sirens getting closer and closer until the ambulance pulled up a short distance from you. The paramedics made their way over to you and brought you back to the ambulance, leaving the woman to continue her small crisis and taking you away to the nearest hospital.

“I have to say, (Y/N), you are very lucky indeed that the car didn’t hit you head on, otherwise we may be in a very different situation.” The doctor said as both of you stood up, heading for the door so you could go home. All their checks had come back with no serious injuries, leaving you with the advice to just be extra careful for the next few days.

“Thank you very much Doctor, I really appreciate it.” You smiled.

“Not at all, you take care of yourself now!” And with that, you were left to sign a few forms before heading outside the hospital. It was only at that moment that you realised that none of your friends had any idea what had happened to you, and that your boyfriend Ethan would probably be getting worried that you hadn’t replied to his messages. You quickly pulled out your phone and dialled the familiar number.

“(Y/N)? Are you okay? Where are you?” Came a rushed response as soon as Ethan had answered his phone, which was only after two rings.

“Babe, it’s okay, I’m fine. Now, don’t freak out, but I’m at the hospital.”

“WHAT?? Holy shit what happened? Are you alright? Are you hurt? Oh my god are you dying?! What’s going on??”

“Hey, I told you not to freak out!” You joked, hoping to distract from the current situation, but failing miserably.

“Well it’s too late for that now! I’m getting in my car right now, I’ll be there as soon as I can.” You sighed gently but smiled to yourself, taking some comfort from the fact that Ethan was on his way. About 10 minutes after the call, you saw a familiar car pull up on the other side of the car park and a very familiar face popped out, eyes darting around trying to find you.

“Ethan!” You called out, waving one arm to get his attention. As soon as he saw you he was running towards you, crossing the distance in an impressively short time. Instantly he started checking over you body for any obvious injuries, babbling on about how he got here as soon as he could and how he should’ve been with you to stop you from getting hurt. At that you gently grabbed his hands with yours, putting a stop to the frantic motion and making him look you in the eyes for the first time since arriving.

“Ethan. I’m fine. Really. And it’s not your fault, it was an accident, it could’ve happened to anyone.” It was then that you noticed the build up of tears in his eyes, tears at the thought that he could’ve lost you that day if everything had happened just a moment earlier or later. You quickly pulled him in for a hug, him clinging to you like you would disappear if he let go and you taking comfort in his presence. After a little while he pulled back, looking you in the eyes again.

“Don’t ever scare me like that again. Please.”

“I won’t. I promise.” At that he gently cupped your face with one hand, the other positioned behind your neck to pull your face up towards his as he leaned down. The two of you met in the middle in a soft but emotion-filled kiss. You arms slowly went up around his neck as he kept your body pressed against his, not caring that you were in public. His only concern was that you were safe and okay and that you weren’t going to disappear in a second. Eventually the two of you separated, but only a short distance, with Ethan pressing your foreheads together gently, the tears still visible in his eyes at such a close range.

“God, I love you so much.” The boy’s words brought a smile to your face in spite of the events of the last day. “Please don’t leave me, if something happens to you again I don’t know what I’ll do.” A few of the tears made their way silently down his face as his eyes roamed your face, taking in every detail. You pulled your boyfriend into another hug, this one less desperate than the last, but the emotion was still there.

“I love you too. And I promise, I’m not going anywhere.”

“ready?” ethan asked you, after he got himself situated in his chair. it was slightly more the left than usual, as you were occupying the space to the right.

“more than ever,” you smiled up at your boyfriend, ready to do your first livestream with him. it had been something you and ethan had been debating for awhile. your relationship wasn’t private, per say. but it wasn’t necessarily incredibly public, either. you two had also been back and forth (in an non-argumentative way) about what the stream should be. you really did not want to embarrass yourself by playing video games, so that was 100% out of the question. it took awhile for ethan to agree to doing a ukulele stream, but he caved eventually. 

“hi guys!” ethan waved to the camera, and you gave a shy little wave, “i’m here with y/n, my girlfriend!” you smiled at his use of the ‘g’ word.

“hey!’ you smiled sheepishly and moved slightly closer to the camera (and, consequently, ethan).

“she was too scared to play pubg with me—”“hey!” you interrupted, rolling your eyes.“—so, we’re going to sing some songs!”

“sing is a heavy word, maybe try to use speak, or attempt to sing instead.” ethan laughed at your sarcasm, and continued to interact with the chat a bit more. he began to ask what songs he should play.

“someone said sweet caroline!” you called, getting excited at the suggestion. 

“ah, the classic cook-out song. i like it.” he smiled and began to google the chords. he began to strum the beginning, and when the time came, both of you began to sing. your voice wasn’t the best, but you could carry a tune.occasionally the two of you would make eye contact, which resulted in big smiles on both of your faces. you smiled at him, and stopped singing. 

with loving eyes, you stared at him while he strum and sang.

“reaching out, touching me, touching you! sweet caroline, bop bop bop, good times never seemed so good so good! so good! so good! i’d be inclined, bop bop bop, to believe they never would but now i’m... look at the night it doesn’t seem so,” 

he laughed before turning to the computer to look at the chat, “everybody better be doing it on time, on the stream,” he spoke through laughs, “’cause it is like a 40 second delay for me, but, uh, hold on, wait, okay, second verse let’s go!” 

he turned to check up on you, who was still sitting and watching in awe. he smiled before turning back to look at the chords.

“look at the night and it don’t seem so lonely we’ll fill it up with only two when i—oops! hurting runs off my shoulder how can i hurt when i’m holding you? one, touching one, reaching out, touching me, touching you! sweet caroline, bop bop bop, good times never seemed so good so good! so good! i am inclined, bop bop bop!”

“y/n, was the chat in time?” you smiled brightly at his question, and nodded yes. “so were my dance moves.”

“sure y/n/n, sure.” you both laughed before turning back to the chat. everyone was spamming about the nickname he’d called you.

“hey, eth?”

“yeah, bub,” he spoke, forgetting he was on camera for a minute.

Happy America Day (Ethan x Reader)

I don’t know what this is going to become or what to call it, but after seeing Ethan’s outfit for today, I couldn’t resist. Enjoy, and happy Fourth of July everyone (well, to Americans, I guess; if you’re not from the U.S., comment---or whatever it is you do on Tumblr---where you’re from)

“Remind me again why we’re wearing this again?”

“Because, Y/N,” Ethan sighs, “I need to show off my patriotism to the rest of the world!”

“Fine, then: Why am I wearing this?” You look down at your American Flag-themed apparel and shake your head.

“I don’t want to look stupid by myself,” he states matter-of-factly (A/N: Is this even a real phrase? Who knows. Who cares. I’m gonna use it anyway.).

“So you’re aware of how ridiculous we look?”

“Very.”

“And we’re still wearing it?”

“Absolutely! Now, are you going to take this picture or not?” he giggles, pushing his red, white, and blue sun glasses off the top of his and onto his nose.

You’d completely forgotten about your initial mission until he mentioned it.

“Oh, yeah. Sorry.” You then proceed to take multiple pictures before handing his phone back to him.

“Well?”

“Well?” you mimic.

“You ready to go?”

“Do I have to?”

“I’m going to take take that as a yes.” Ethan grabs your hand and pulls you toward the door of the apartment.

“But I don’t like people...”

He ignores you and continues on, still dragging you behind him.

You feel a pair of arms wrap around your shoulders from behind you. “How’re you holding up, Y/N?” Ethan whispers into your ear, sounding only slightly less sober than he did a couple hours ago.

You shrug. Not much had really happened. You got to watch Ethan play with Mark (a dog, not Mark, Mark), and hear the other Mark (now Mark, Mark) and Tyler sing a drunken rendition of Firework by Katy Perry...

“That boring, huh?”

“It’s not that I'm bored, I'm just...” you trail off, unsure of how to elaborate what you were thinking.

“Tired, hungry, uncomfortable, pregnant?” He then gasps dramatically. “Y/N! How could you not tell me you’re pregnant?! Preggers?! Pregananant?! I thought I could trust you...”

You roll your eyes at him as he throws a hand over his forehead and pretends to pass out. “Get up, dork. The fireworks are about to start.”

He sighs and stands up, only to sit back down... Right on top of you. “Ethan, get off! You’re crushing me!”

“Are you calling me fat?” he chuckles.

“Yes, I am, now get off!” Your boyfriend finally obliges and moves to his own chair---not before moving it closer to yours first, of course---and leaning in for a kiss. 

When you pull away from each other, he smiles and simply says, “Those fireworks were great, weren’t they? I mean, pretty short, but definitely the best I’ve ever seen.”

For the millionth time that night, you roll your eyes at him. “Shut up...”

As the real fireworks began, just a few minutes later, you lay your head on his shoulder, wishing this moment could last forever and to you, and all of the people you loved surrounding you, it did.
