Loz fandom stop being angsty and give the daydreaming kids on big fun adventures with a cool glowing sword some actual whimsy and joy challenge
#It's like the happy media equals angsty fandom and vice versa but like. Video game series about the dreams and adventures of childhood with#A fandom full of angst and abandonment and depression and smut#It's why I don't really stay in the loz fandom long each time I circle back around#There's so much potential for good things and comfort and snuggly warmth and lightheartedness.#Like yeah messed up things happen in front of and to link but kids are resilient beasts and most importantly they fix it#He's literally wearing the Peter pan hat to invoke that sort of eternal wonder that's the DESIGN of the hat that's why it's so identifiable#Fanart captures it a lot. The gorgeous landscapes and quiet moments and dappled sunlight#But fics???? Oh lu fics are just full of miscommunication and resentment and sour interactions and pain and simmering anger#I prefer to read trusted authors because it's so wearing but the problem is you have to go out and find them lol#It's a very controversial belief of mine that every link enjoyed their adventure even if it was scary or sad and would not be averse to#Another. Oh the circumstances they might hate. But link has never been one to refuse the call#That's the POINT they stepped up when the adults couldn't it's their COURAGE that they'd be fastest to volunteer.#Unrelated but post game botk is adhd central you can do literally whatever you want and whatever pace and you just drift around getting#Distracted and teleporting all over and setting challenges and poking around every nook and cranny#Like botw I had over 300 koroks and 98% map completion. I maxed out hero's path twice over. Totk I've just been wandering around#Speed farming lynels like 17 different goals drifting from one to the other as I wish. Still missing the last 2 sage orbs NO idea where#There's like a million hinoxs now tf#loz#legend of zelda#lu#linked universe#ao3

With the shows 14th birthday passing on the 14th of this month. I hope ppl know that even though Disney def knows what a pirate is and the distinction between pirate and sailor yet they still chose to call the show “Jake and the neverland pirates” is probably because it sounds a lot more marketable and cooler than “Jake and the neverland sailors” even though technically they are more sailor than pirate.
Also ppl would probably get upset if they titled the show Jake and the neverland lost boys or Jake and the lost boys and none of the og lost boys were there. Could they just have had the og lost boys there to begin with as the main cast? Yeah but what are the lost boys going to teach your kids about good morals?? (But I do think they still should’ve been there just to give the kids more kids to interact with AND THEY COULD HAVE INTRODUCED THEM AS DIFFERENT TYPE OF MORALITY. Which would be neutral or morally gray)
#ALSO THIS JUST ME RAMBLING AND GUESSING#midnight rambling#anyways this show means so much to me and I’m so happy it exists and will love it to eternity unfortunately#can it be improved absolutely but I still love it as is❤️#jake and the neverland pirates#jatnp#disney junior#the lost boys#pixie quips about jatnp#disney#neverland#peter pan disney

Ok so why does Mr. Smee look the same in EVERY SINGLE SPIN-OFF OF PETER PAN?
lemme explain hchrrcerfurcrfn 💀
Alrighty so you know there's a sequel AND a prequel to Peter Pan? The sequal is Peter Pan: Return To Neverland, and the supposed "prequel" is Tinker Bell and The Pirate Fairy (he appears in the end credits scene btw!). HE LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME IN BOTH OF THOSE MOVIES!
what especially baffles me is that Captain Hook is supposed to be younger in Tinker Bell and The Pirate Fairy, but Smee looks the same 💀
DOES HE NOT AGE OR SUM?? yes, I'm not a dummy, I know the the movies take place in Neverland, where nobody ever grows up, BUT STILL!! Why does Captain Hook age and Smee doesn't??? Did he just randomly spawn into Neverland from the sky out of nowhere and was like: "ah yes now I EXIST! 🤓" (BAHAHAHA) but that theory would be debunked however since in Jake and The Neverland Pirates he mentions his life as a kid many times throughout the show, and he has a tattoo on his chest that reads: "mother" (also he looks younger in the show??? Probably cuz of the art style 💀)
So he was a kid at some point then 💀
BUT WHY DID HE RANDOMLY JUST STOP AGING?? SHOULD WE BE SCARED??? SHOULD I BE SCARED?? IS HE THIS IMMORTAL BEING PLANNING DOOM FOR US ALL???
Ok nah bro THAT WAS A JOKE 💀 But still, I genuinely wonder why Hook aged and he didn't 💀💀💀
This makes my brain hurt T_T
MAYBE IM JUST STUPID AND MISSING SOME IMPORTANT BUT OBVIOUS DETAIL BUT IF ANYBODY KNOWS ANYTHING PLS TELL ME CUZ I'M FREAKED OUT BY THIS 💀
#DISNEY WHAT IS WRONG WITH U LOL#ETERNALLY SCREAMS#Peter Pan#Peter Pan: Return To Neverland#Tinker Bell and The Pirate Fairy#Jake and The Neverland Pirates#Mr. Smee#Smee#Captain Hook#Theory (?)#This is kinda scary bro 💀#U NEED TO CREATE BETTER LORE DISNEY!!! YOU DID MY BOI DIRTY

you don't need to write a dark deconstruction of Peter Pan where he's willing to kill people and his state of eternal childhood makes him morally ambiguous, JM Barrie already wrote one and it's called Peter Pan

Impatient for the world to have a hangover recovery Sunday morning where we all go: we thought American culture was the coolest shit ever for... almost a century? What the fuck was that? LOL
#i'm ashamed i took so long to outgrow it#it has a tiresome and childish self-obsession to it#the peter pan complex country. an eternally unhappy marriage with personal identity#that is 90% because of how you prioritise having a singular personal identity in the first place

PETER PAN HONGJOONG!!! I am SO here for this concept! 😩 this imagine was in my likes on my personal account and I totally forgot about it! Rereading this was the best experience! I fell in love all over again!!
“Let go of me asshole!” You seethed. Your hands were currently being held behind your back by an enemy pirate, twisted at awkward angles that made you grunt in discomfort.
The pirate scowled and tugged harder, releasing a gasp from you.
“Keep in mind who has the advantage here sweetheart.” He huffed, his breath settled over your face in a waft of fish guts and smoke. You gagged inwardly, do they ever wash?
A few paces in front of you stood a captain, decked out in long red robes and jewellery, no doubtedly stolen from a cruising royal vessel. He looked smug as you struggled against your captors hold, eyes glinting with pride.
“I wouldn’t seem so confident little one, judging by the situation you’re in.” He gloated, his crew around him guffawed, seemingly in tears at their captain’s remark. You rolled your eyes as he continued.
“It really is quite simple,” he mused, “You hand over your ship to me and I let you go,” he clasped his hands together in mock excitement, “do we have a deal?”
“No Hook, we do not have a deal. Now tell your crony to let go of me before I land a kick somewhere he’ll remember for the rest of his life.”
It really wasn’t an empty threat, the pirate had grabbed your elbow, leaving your other arm trapped between your bodies, but loose none the less. Rookie move, you thought triumphantly. However, attempting to escape now was futile, as escaping from one meant running into another, more skilled fighter.
You had to wait for someone or something to come along. Unfortunately, it occurred to you that that someone was the annoying, strawberry-haired boy that flew threw the trees, above Neverland, and sometimes through your sails, purposely allowing gusts of winds to tip off your hat and throw it onto the decks below.
Hook threw his head back and roared with laughter.
“Oh nonsense, don’t make me laugh,” He wheezed, hands coming up to grab his hat. As he continued to talk, but movement behind him had caught your eye.
One by one, his men were gagged, grabbed and stolen from view, there one second, gone the next.
A flash of red. Another pirate gone. A muffled pound.
A smirk played on your lips.
And so it begins.
After a mere minute, most of Hooks men were bound and either knocked out, or struggling against barrels and nets. Suddenly you noticed your captor tense, he’d also noticed the sudden disappearance of his crew.
“Captain-!”
BAM! You slammed your head back on his nosed, twirled around and elbowed him in the gut. He cried out and clutched his nose in pain, then his torso and dropped to the ground.
For good measure, you kicked him somewhere he would remember for the rest of his life too.
Hook looked on aghast before he came to his senses.
“HEY- MEN!” Hook span to look behind him and jumped pathetically.
He was staring into the eyes of Kim Hongjoong.
“YOU!” He exclaimed.
Hongjoong giggled, “Me?”
Hook snarled and lunged for the lean boy, but he was too slow, and suddenly Hongjoong was hovering a few feet above the sprawling captain.
“Get down here!” Hook bellowed, face beet red and voice shrill and embarrassed.
Still the floating boy, now mimicking Hook’s childish voice and swinging like he was perched on hammock, smirked.
“Hmm, no I don’t think I will,” Hongjoong rolled onto his stomach, legs lazily swaying behind him, “In fact, I’ll just grab the damsel in distress and skidaddle.”
You glared at him, and he winked at you. But his expression dropped momentarily as his head dipped in the direction of a body. A body with a sword hanging off its owners belt.
You lunged in that direction and grabbed the hilt, pulling it out of its scabbard and pointing it at Hook. The man blanched.
“It really is quite simple, you get off my ship, and I’ll let you go, unharmed,” You declared, “Do we have a deal?’
Hongjoongs eyes sparkled as he watched you mimick the captain. He’d never admit it, but the way your hair swished as you slashed at victims or the way your eyes set in stone when you needed or wanted something made his heart go mad.
Hook wasn’t too much of a problem, especially when he knew he wouldn’t be victorious, but the red-haired boy stayed vigilant as Hook stumbled to his feet.
“Fine fine!” Hook gasped, “I’ll step down.”
But then the pirate swivelled and grabbed a dagger, “Or maybe I WON’T!” and frantically stabbed in your direction.
Your eyes widened as your feet flew from beneath you and you were pulled back into a strong chest, an arm around your waist.
“No.” Hongjoong growled, his arm tightening impossibly, “You will.”
The air had been knocked from your lungs- not from Hooks sudden attack- but from the breath against your ear and neck, the warmth of Hongjoongs body, from the way it felt like he wouldn’t, couldn’t let you go.
Hook scowled. Hongjoong scowled back. You rolled your eyes (inwardly hoping no one would notice your flaming cheeks).
“Now I’m gonna take her and when I’m back your crew better be off this ship-because now I’m mad,” Hongjoong swung his sword threateningly, “And you know what happens when I’m mad.”
And then you were rising, higher and higher and Hooks face grew smaller and smaller.
Neverland flew past beneath you as you soared above the trees, occasionally shrieking as Hongjoong dipped and looped. He chuckled at the way you clutched onto his shoulders, face warming.
Soon the montage of greens disappeared as you slowed to a hover over a small lagoon. You shakily turned in the boys grasp until your chests were pressed tightly together and you were gazing into each other’s eyes.
“I um,” you licked your lower lip, the action not going unnoticed by Hongjoong, “Thank you for saving me.”
He nodded but didn’t let you go.
“C-can we come down now?”
He didn’t answer.
“Hongjoong..?”
He was staring at your parted lips, enticed by the way they formed his name.
“Say my name again.”
“What?”
“Say it. ”
“Hongjoong,” you whispered, stomach twisting at his infatuated expression; you spoke again, this time more confident. “Kim Hongjoong.”
He shook his head, biting back a grin. “I like the way you say my name.”
“Yes I noticed.” You mused.
“Now I have another request.” The boy gently rubbed his nose against yours, igniting a warm fire in your stomach.
“Kiss me.”
•••••••••••••••

Sometimes a mermaid has to serenade her gf so they can have a wonderful day together ❤️ (Mermaid!Hanamusa commission, designs inspired by the mermaids in Peter Pan)
UPDATE: I’m no longer taking commissions because I’m very burnout. If you could still donate to this family to help them meet their goal, I would be eternally grateful!
If you’d like to commission some artwork from me then all you have to do is donate $10 or more to the Palestinian family I’m fundraising for and I will draw your requests. All you need to do is donate, and send the receipt to [email protected] and I’ll draw your request (as long as it’s not inappropriate). And if you just wanna donate with no drawing request, then that’s good too ❤️ Every little bit helps even if it’s only a small amount.

In the weird hot takes in stale fandoms category, I still think Jack should have died at the end of AWE.
#i've thought this since 2007#let will and lizzie be the inheritors of the sea#and the last heirs of the old way (norrington & jack) dies away#barbossa survives bc he is like a sea creature oracle now#and then we wouldn't be trapped with a peter pan syndrom gd jack sparrow for 2 movies#hottest take they could have left him dead that would work too#but if the old way of the sea is saved wHAt is the point of the best awe scene#aka the kraken on the beach#there is less and less sea for a pirate like jack#but will is touched by destiny for the eternal role on the sea#and lizzie is the new pirate king blessed by the eldest of the ways (teague)#just#it would have been BEttEr#that's all#if they had any plans to continue with the dmtnt kids as leads they may have brought it back arround#but let's face it they never did#why am I still like this

Hey so like many of you, I saw that article about how people are going into college having read no classic books. And believe it or not, I've been pissed about this for years. Like the article revealed, a good chunk of American Schools don't require students to actually read books, rather they just give them an excerpt and tell them how to feel about it. Which is bullshit.
So like. As a positivity post, let's use this time to recommend actually good classic books that you've actually enjoyed reading! I know that Dracula Daily and Epic the Musical have wonderfully tricked y'all into reading Dracula and The Odyssey, and I've seen a resurgence of Picture of Dorian Gray readership out of spite for N-tflix, so let's keep the ball rolling!
My absolute favorite books of all time are The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. Classic psychological horror books about unhinged women.
I adore The Bad Seed by William March. It's widely considered to be the first "creepy child" book in American literature, so reading it now you're like "wow that's kinda cliche- oh my god this is what started it. This was ground zero."
I remember the feelings of validation I got when people realized Dracula wasn't actually a love story. For further feelings of validation, please read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. There's a lot the more popular adaptations missed out on.
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier is an absolute gem of a book. It's a slow-build psychological study so it may not be for everyone, but damn do the plot twists hit. It's a really good book to go into blind, but I will say that its handling of abuse victims is actually insanely good for the time period it was written in.
Moving on from horror, you know people who say "I loved this book so much I couldn't put it down"? That was me as a kid reading A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Picked it up while bored at the library and was glued to it until I finished it.
Peter Pan and Wendy by JM Barrie was also a childhood favorite of mine. Next time someone bitches about Woke Casting, tell them that the original 1911 Peter Pan novel had canon nonbinary fairies.
Watership Down by Richard Adams is my sister Cori's favorite book period. If you were a Warrior Cats, Guardians of Ga'Hoole or Wings of Fire kid, you owe a metric fuckton to Watership Down and its "little animals on a big adventure" setup.
A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry was a play and not a book first, but damn if it isn't a good fucking read. It was also named after a Langston Hughes poem, who's also an absolutely incredible author.
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is a book I absolutely adore and will defend until the day I die. It's so friggin good, y'all, I love it more than anything. You like people breaking out of fascist brainwashing? You like reading and value knowledge? You wanna see a guy basically predict the future of television back in 1953? Read Fahrenheit.
Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee are considered required reading for a reason: they're both really good books about young white children unlearning the racial biases of their time. Huck Finn specifically has the main character being told that he will go to hell if he frees a slave, and deciding eternal damnation would be worth it.
As a sidenote, another Mark Twain book I was obsessed with as a kid was A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. Exactly what it says on the tin, incredibly insane read.
If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin is a heartbreaking but powerful book and a look at the racism of the time while still centering the love the two black protagonists feel for each other. Giovanni's Room by the same author is one that focuses on a MLM man struggling with his sexuality, and it's really important to see from the perspective of a queer man living in the 50s– as well as Baldwin's autobiographical novel, Go Tell it on the Mountain.
Agatha Christie mysteries are all still absolutely iconic, but Murder on the Orient Express is such a good read whether or not you know the end twist.
Maybe-controversial-maybe-not take: Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov is a good book if you have reading comprehension. No, you're not supposed to like the main character. He pretty much spells that out for you at the end ffs.
Animal Farm by George Orwell was another favorite of mine; it was written as an obvious metaphor for the rise of fascism in Russia at the time and boy does it hit even now.
And finally, please read Shakespeare plays. As soon as you get used to their way of talking, they're not as hard to understand as people will lead you to believe. My absolute favorite is Twelfth Night- crossdressing, bisexual love triangles, yellow stockings... it's all a joy.
and those are just the ones i thought of off the top of my head! What're your guys' favorite classic books? Let's make everyone a reading list!

peter pan (2003)'s portrayal of peter pan is so unhinged like. he can never die. but he can never live either. he'll never have to grow up. he'll never get to grow up. wendy could have convinced him to leave but what would have happened to neverland, which falls into a wintry darkness if he so much as leaves for a night, if he'd left for good? he has the world in the palm of his hand. it's a very small world. it would just as soon kill him to be sure he's paying it mind. everyone gets a satisfying ending except him. everyone changes except him. he's stagnant. he's constant. he's eternal. he's not a boy—he's a story. and sometimes that's the loneliest thing to be.
#peter pan#sorry blacked out listening to the ost again#peter pan 2003#the lost boys got found and hook is dead and wendy is home and what does peter get? to carry on

I think people are warming towards it because of how adorable the situation is but. A lot of people have been skeptical over giving such a big part of the plot to Holly and the rest of these kids being taken in by the military for some kind of experimentation. What you need to understand is that these are more or less plot devices to explore trauma the party faced in Season 1, especially Will and El. And to explore the larger theme of childhood in the show.
Holly is a manifestation of Will’s younger self. Imaginative, sensitive to the supernatural, naive, helpless. She is personally sought out by Henry - just like Will was. Will wants to protect her not just because she’s an innocent child and Mike’s sister, but also as an allegory for him attempting to comfort and soothe the traumatized child within. And protect someone else from what he has been through. Giving her DND character the title of Cleric and creating a callback with ‘The Vanishing of Holly Wheeler’ deepens this connection.
The new kids by large are reminders of how young the party, now teens, were when they started the show. HNL is back ‘nabbing kids and using them for experiments. El and Hopper eventually pick a kid up in their humvee, Robin and Mike go through the tunnels to rescue some more kids from the barracks. This one is more personal to El, given she spent her entire childhood in captivity. In recusing the kids she is rescuing her young self.
Even with Henry. My current belief is that he wants to destroy, then reshape, the world into his ideal utopia (with only children). Cue the multiple Peter Pan references. A Neverland where everyone is a child eternally forever. There are deep cuts too from his life, which I’m sure we’ll explore further. Something he missed out on in childhood and wants to get back. Probably the disruption trauma can bring to a childhood, and the impossibility of giving that time 🕰️ and innocence back.
The entire show also serves as a callback to the (intended) audience’s childhood. An 80s romp that makes every reference it can to something nostalgic.
Will (in my opinion / theory) freezing Upside Down Hawkins permanently in 1983!
The end of the show coincides with the end of the nostalgic escape it brings. The message being: childhood is precious and we should hold onto it in memory, but you have to grow up eventually. You have to accept change. You can’t turn back the clock.
#stranger things#st5 speculation#will byers#henry creel#el hopper#childhood themes#this is very disjointed but uh yeah!#st5 leaks
