WRITEBLR INTRO xx
hey, all! i’m n.k. :-)
i'm not new to tumblr (have had a few diff accounts since 2011/2012), but i'm new to interacting with writeblr proper.
ABOUT ME
late 20s
black & queer & disabled
lifelong writer/musician/creative (in both professional and hobbyist capacities)
finally finishing my degree in creative writing & english!
ARTISTIC/THEMATIC INTERESTS
literary fiction, horror, camp, kitsch, diversity, introspection, family/friend bonds (especially nontraditional ones), romance, art rock, nostalgia, technology, diy ethos
GOALS
connect with the tumblr writing community at large! for a while i was unable to get excited about my non-work, non-fanfic related writing projects. over the past year or so, my passion’s been renewed, and i just wanna chatter with like-minded folks about my longform WIPs, my short stories, etc – and geek over other people’s work here too <3
WIPS
Dagmar
there’s always something going down in dagmar, an insular coastal community straddling the delaware bay. pragmatic tech geek zeke omezie-fumudoh, 18, prefers to keep her head in her books and projects – deaths and disappearances were common in her parents’ home country, too, after all. when her best friend dodie dies, however, zeke has no choice but to start trying to connect the dots & face the potential supernatural forces at play.
[this is finna be dark fantasy/horror, romance, mystery, and queer as hell! i got a lot of worldbuilding to do, but a few months ago the twist popped into my head 1st and i’ve been working backwards. i'm sooo excited abt figuring out the narrative path(s) i gotta take]
Dave & The Family Davenport
20-year-old twin musicians dorian & daria davenport are a little s club 7, a little sly stone, & a whole lotta spitfire. as the very first act signed to holliday records, 30-something producer & label founder dave levine considers it his duty to take the family davenport under his wing. they become his pet project – and eventually something more to him.
[i’m taking this one in a literary/drama direction! thinking found family and music industry commentary vibes. idea came from revisiting big time rush and thinking ‘what would happen if you mix btr + the carpenters + prince + mtv’s making the band??’ (for the record, dave is 100% NOT meant to be a p. d*ddy analogue re: making the band, i'm mainly thinking of the aesthetics of the young artists of color featured on the show)]
Several fun essays about my personal fandom/shipping history (one is about all the diff sites i've used over 17+ years of reading/writing fanfic, another is an old-school livejournal-style ship manifesto that i plan to make into a video! etc etc)
SHORT FICTION
blank [literary/drama, 300 wds]
fortune teller [literary/drama, 300 wds]
hothouse [horror, 500 wds]
a certain standard of care [horror-comedy/surreal/gross-out, 1k wds]
good bones (or, an exercise in letting go) [literary/dramedy, 1.3k wds]
[writing tag: scorpio the scribe]
hmu if you think we'd get along <3 i need more ppl to follow!
[ETA: i prefer to follow/be mutuals w/ ppl 18+ only, ty!]

°MY BIO!!!° (Updated as of January 23rd, 2025 :)
Bio under cut! :]
(Asks for c.ai bots, hcs, doddles, and fics are open! More on that under!)
Hello! Welcome to the place where my ramblings go! Here's a bunch of stuff about me!
Pronouns: He/Him/His (Okay with They/Them or Xe/Xir I just prefer He/Him)
Names I like to be called: Ashspinz/Ash/Spinz. (Or whatever is funniest in the moment, but pls nothing fem, inappropriate, or slurs!!!)
Other identity stuff: I'm a proud transgender male and Pansexual. I am a black American with an Irish and Native-American background. My birthday is March 11th, and I am a Pisces, I am disabled, I am a MINOR!!!!
Hobbies and things: Watching movies, reading, writing, drawing, making YouTube videos, talking to my friends and partner, baking and cooking, attempting to act and sing, spam posting on Tumblr, etc...
My Fandoms, an ever growing running list of things I like, will VERY likely change
Marvel Cinematic Universe/Marvel/Marvel Actors (Not the biggest fan of the actual company!!)
DSMP (taking a step back from it though)
Heartstopper
Hamilton
In the Heights
Sanders Sides
Epic the Musical
Percy Jackson (GO ARES CABIN 🗣🔥)
Harry Potter and the Marauders (I do NOT support JK R0wling)
Doctor Who
Gilmore Girls
Grey's Anatomy
Dear Evan Hansen
Mystreet/Minecraft diaries
My Hero Academia
Arcane
Sonic the Hedgehog
My Little Pony
One direction
Dead poets society
My DNI list: Big0ts, transph0bes, abeli$ts, P0rn accounts, Wilbur S00t supporters, MAPS, Ped0s, DDLG, ABDL, or ANY variants, people that don't stand with Palestine, People against age regression, people who hate on people due to their interests, or people that are here for negative intent, aren't open to civil conversation, and being civil and respectful. Again, please be noted, that THIS BLOG IS RUN BY A MINOR.
Wicked
Call of Duty
Supernatural
Brooklyn 99
Fair warning: I may make innuendos, and I often do swear! Anyone is allowed to interact and ask questions, but please be appropriate and respectful and no NSFW. I love answering questions and try my best to get back! But I do have school, and it takes precedent!
Also, please do not ask for donations. I am a high schooler with no money to give, and there no way to know if the person asking for donations is legit. I completely understand and sympathize with anyone in need of help, but please do not ask for donos. I can not help.
I may sometimes bring up topics of age regression and tickling both completely and STRICTLY sfw for me. Please DNI if you find age regression to be a k1nk or feti$h and/or don't believe someone can enjoy sfw tickles. These are both very personal to me and ways I cope. Please don't bring any yucky stuff here.
Other things: I have a C.ai account @/Undeniably_Ash and I am taking requests for bots right now in my Ask Box! Please note that I only make platonic bots, mostly mother and father ones, and all bots must be sfw, and I usually only make bots apart of my fandoms or my own ocs!
Headcanons, doddles (little sketchy drawings), and short fic requests are also open. Same rules apply! (For these, you are allowed to request romantic pairings between two consenting adults)
I'll try to get all of them done, but I may not be able too, it's not personal at all if I can't get to your ask!
That is all I have for today. Enjoy your time here! :)

𓆰♥︎𓆪 Fatality’s Fic Bakery Rules + Drabble Menu | Updated 8•24•23 𓆰♡︎𓆪
↳ ❦ Fatalitysficbakery requests guidelines menu ❦.
↳ ❦ Fatalitysficbakery navigation menu ❦.
↳ My name is Heaven. My pronouns are She/He/They. And I am 19. I’m a neurodivergent lesbian with Sickle Cell Anemia Type SS and OCD + anxiety/ptsd + more I won’t get into yet. So, please. Be patient with me. Sometimes I’m sick physically or mentally and need a little moment to myself without writing.
↳ This is a multifandom blog, mostly Law and Order SVU and Criminal Minds but houses several fandoms listed in the masterlists above.
↳ This blog is mostly catered to black women fans, if that bothers you. This blog is not the one for you, as it serves to give my black women a fanfic account catered to them rather than those never lacking representation.
↳ This is an LGBTQ+, non-religious, disability, POC, pro-choice safespace. If you are religious, you are welcome as long as your religion isn’t forced upon me or my readers. I will write for religion, but I am not religious, myself. This is also a disability safespace, as I disabled myself. pro-life people need not interact, along with racists, bigots, homophobes, transphobes, etc.
↳ I mainly do x Reader but i’ve opened home to ships and will make an entirely different masterlist when i start writing for them.
↳ Requests ARE Open!! Requests Guidelines will be linked soon.

𓆰♥︎𓆪 Fatale’s Rule Menu 𓆰♥︎𓆪
••[❦]•••[❦❦]••[❦]•••[❦❦]••[❦]•••[❦❦]••[❦]•••[❦❦]••
↳ I don’t do names. One of my biggest rules to keep the story immersive for each and every reader is to never use a requesters name/nickname and to only call the character Y/n or nicknames I give them in story. But I feel it wouldn’t be fair to other readers if I gave the character whose supposed to be “them” a name.
↳ I do discuss hard topics in a lot of my stories such as, NonCon, Dubcon, etc. I won’t, however, go in depth into discussions about pedophilia and such in my stories if it’s outside the bedroom without explicit consent. If there’s noncon in my stories, it’s either a consensual scene between characters with safe words and the like, or a telling of a crime.
↳ For some SVU characters like Amaro and Kat, I refuse to do submissiveness for. I believe certain cast members to be strictly dom, some verse, and some just strictly sub. Right now my strictly dom characters of SVU are; Benson, Amaro, Kat, Hasim, and Rollins. There are characters who I’ll rarely write as subs like; Pippa, Alex, Casey, and Carisi. Everyone else is fair game.
↳ I dont write for certain characters of certain shows including; David Rossi from criminal minds, Nate Jacobs from Euphoria, Garland from SVU (still iffy about writing for Stabler, no smut for Odafin, and I’d only write wholesome elderly dad stuff for Cragen.)
↳ Rarely ever will I do non detective/agent au’s for SVU and Criminal Minds unless I feel it or it’s requested.
↳ Minors Do Not Interact ROMANTICALLY. my page is definitely not safe for minors, if you are a minor and you want to request something from my blog, you can NOT request anything with smut involved— neither smutty or full out. Feel free to request any other genres tho!
↳ I cannot stress this enough. I do not write smut for underage characters and that will never change. If you want anything with a minor character, it better be SFW or it’ll be rejected immediately.
↳ I do tend to dramatize my stories so my non requested works will almost always be either one, two, or a combined effort of the two— Angst and Fluff. Mostly Angsty/Fluff and also a lottt of Smut.
↳ I’m fine with making friends as long as I’m not sexualized or hit on. I am single, and even if I wasn’t it’d make me highly uncomfortable— I don’t disagree with joking banter, though. Like asking me to “marry you” is fine but actually being creepy and sexual issa no.
↳ No harassing, bullying, or hatred towards me or my readers will be tolerated. The second I see a hint of negativity, I’ll block you.
↳ Tell me what your character should be. I ONLY write black and poc people. Only. Example; Black FTM Firefighter!Reader or Latina NB!Reader.
↳ Be patient, Have fun! I do have a disability outside of writing and although I would love to push out post after post sometimes I’m sick and not able to or just need to rest. I will try my best to get your requests out in a timely manner. Thank you!

rules: code of conduct.
BEGIN.
Before we start, I would like you to have certain things in mind when approaching me ooc. I am very shy and quite awkward, which results in me not being much of a talker; however, I will always try my best to be friendly to whoever wants to approach. I dislike pet names so please do not use them with me unless we are very close. There will be times when I'm just exhausted, so my wording could sound rude/aggressive, to which I apologize in advance -I never mean to hurt people’s feelings. I also reserve the right to interact with WHOEVER I want, and pestering me about it will only get you blocked.
Updates will be made as required.
I. BASIC.
A. This blog is: Selective / Independent / Canon Divergent / NSFW / Mutuals only / Singleship / Mostly iconless / Multiverse / AU, Crossover, OC, and Multimuse friendly / Vaguely affiliated with the OP RP fandom.
B. I am a very slow rper for many reasons —school, family, my ever-fluctuating mood —and I would appreciate it if you refrained from pestering me for replies. In return I offer as much patience as necessary. Think of this blog as low activity please.
C. English is not my mother language so I apologize in advance for any mistakes made.
D. I track the tag #iinfortunii, although mentioning me works just as fine.
E. Constructive criticism is always welcome but anon hate will be immediately deleted. I have no problems if you disagree with my portrayal, but it doesn't give you the right to harass me.
F. Mun and muse are both over 18, so there are chances that heavy content will be present; however I won't be writing smut. I can roleplay anything before or after the act if requested, but the moment things get far too explicit, I'll do a fade-to-black. I ask of you to not lie about your age or else you’ll be blocked indefinitely.
G. This is a heavily headcanon-based blog, and changes are likely to be made as more information is revealed about him, though I reserve the right to adjust the new information according to my interpretation of Deuce or simply ignore it, which is why I’m canon divergent.
H. If you'd like to turn an ask into a thread, you can turn it into a new post, or reblog from me, as I won't be using the Tumblr asks anymore due to the problems that come with formatting and such.
I. Ask box is open for everyone ic or ooc, but you aren't allowed to turn it into a thread and nor I will reply to it if we’re not mutuals. Please don't push me, because I won't hesitate to block.
J. No godmoding —only a minor is allowed if it moves a thread forward —or metagaming, please. Don't kill Deuce either, unless plotted beforehand, and most importantly, don't hold your muse back.
K. Discord is available for mutuals upon request.
L. Just because I write something it does not mean I condone it. Please have this in mind and again, do not pester me about it. Any and all nsfw matters will be tagged accordingly. There will be triggering topics present, and you can know more about this on the section below.
M. DO NOT involve me in drama or call-out posts. I’m heavily against both things. On this note, you’ll never see me rebloging a call-out post. This culture is so damaging and toxic, and I firmly believe no one should play the role of the judge for the good of the community just because you had issues with someone or don’t agree with the things they roleplay. Talk things privately, be mature about it, hard-block the person and move on. I am also very aware that a lot of people have done things that can’t be excused, but I like to believe that people can change for the better. If you try to drag me into it, I'll hard block any and all people involved indefinitely.
II. TRIGGERS.
A. They will be tagged as trigger tw, trigger / and trigger cw.
B. I do my best to stay up to date with my mutuals triggers. Your comfort is way more important to me than you might think, so never be hesitant to approach me via IM, (anonymous) ask or stop following me.
C. Triggers that are likely to appear, although some more than others: violence || blood || death || drugs || abuse || knives || body image || medical equipment || suggestive content || etc
D. I have no triggers, so you are free to go wild with your content. I only ask you remember to tag your nsfw (both written and visual), please.
III. INTERACTIONS.
A. Deuce won't like everyone. He might/will make wrong assumptions about your character. He will insult and bite back. He won't always be nice to those he likes. He does many things that serve his interests. You, as the mun, have no reason to take it personal, because I'm won't follow someone I don't like; if you DO take it personal however, and decide to rouse drama, then I'll be hard-blocking you. Goes for me as well —I have no reason to get angry for any of the things noted above.
B. My bonds page displays the relationships that have been built over time, not necessarily through interaction alone but over plotting as well. Refer to it for more information.
C. Interactions with OCs related to canon characters will only take place as long as said OCs have a detailed about page. Personally, I'm not interested in the idea of an OC being blood-related to my portrayal, so I apologize in advance.
D. Formatting isn’t a big thing across my blogs, save for the small text. Please don’t mix either sup/sub with small text when writing with me, as I have eyesight problems. Don’t use colored text either.
E. Non-romantic pre-established relationships are allowed! Just make sure to talk it out with me first, yeah?
01. Spade / Whitebeard pirates (canon and original characters alike that i am MUTUALS with) will have a pre-established relationship as long as the other mun is comfortable with such idea, though that relationship will be limited to merely crewmates, unless discussed otherwise.
F. You don’t need to match my writing length as long as I’m given enough to work with. If something about my reply bothers or doesn’t work with you, let me know and I’ll re-work it.
G. I really enjoy plotting scenarios or talking out about the relationships my muse could have with other muses, so hit me up if you’ve got any ideas! I’ll try to do the same!
H. Mun does not equal muse, so don’t go assuming I’m a jerk simply because Deuce is an asshole from time to time. I’m set on the idea that I’ll give people the same treatment they give me —which is always nice and kind. Kudos to everyone for this ♡
I. I don’t use a threadtracker because I rely on my memory (terrible mistake, I know), but I try to draft people’s replies as soon as I see them. If by any reason it seems like I lost it, then please let me know / send me a link with it and I’ll be deeply grateful.
J. I don’t do nor reply to greetings starters for matters of my own comfort, so I ask of you to never expect a starter or a reply from them.
IV. SHIPPING.
A. Singleship, with the spot taken by daadzi, which means Deuce is no longer open for romantic relationships.
01. Under no circumstances, I will accept more romantic relationships once the spot is taken. That being said, I won’t discourage your muse from falling for / hitting on him, although I ask you to understand he will never respond with the same interest or will never react gently if he’s pushed too far.
02. If my shipping partner is comfortable enough, I'll interact with duplicates with the condition that the relationship is strictly platonic.
B. Constant interaction, mutual interest, and chemistry are a must for the sake of better communication (both ic and ooc, preferably).
C. Please do not approach me if you wish our characters to have either a: one night stand or friends with benefits type of relationships. It won’t work out due to the nature of Deuce’s personality, and for that I apologize.
E. My ship has its own tag so you're free to block it if you don't want to see it on your dashboard. In addition, I'll also tag those posts with only the ship name for this very purpose.
F. Please do not force ships on me.
V. CELEBRATIONS.
A. First off, I am absolutely terrible at keeping up with dates, and to be frank, I am not the biggest fan of celebrating, which is why I think it’s necessary to say I won’t be partaking in any holidays, not even Deuce’s birthday (not that he has one, to begin with). Obviously I will still reply to any gifts received, and will send out things in return —you know, common courtesy.
B. I won't be sending out birthday gifts every year, and I might write drabbles for people once in a blue moon; it doesn’t mean they will be done for the specific date though, so please be patient.
VI. REASONS TO NOT FOLLOW BACK / UNFOLLOW.
A. Too much drama / call-outs / vague posts / sexual content.
B. Content makes me uncomfortable.
C. You are a personal blog without a visible rp sideblog. Please make sure it's easy to find.
D. You do not have a proper tag system.
E. Your blog doesn’t have a rules and about pages.
F. You lack the manners to deal with people respectfully.
G. I have no interest / lost interest.
H. I'm constantly / only used as a meme archive.
I. Other reasons may apply. I will soft block so we can both cease following each other and avoid any potential awkward situations. I won’t make a fuss if you decide to unfollow so I expect the same courtesy.
VII. ABOUT BEATRICE.
She is not a real person. Her concept as Deuce’s (toxic) pseudolover is my creation and was somewhat inspired from the real life Beatrice Portinari. Do have in mind that Deuce doesn’t talk about her so your muse can’t simply approach him and ask about her unless they can go through his memories / read his mind / any capability alike or he speaks about her, though it won't take a genius to figure out that she's a product of his imagination.
You can read about her by clicking here -link to be added.
She serves as a lie to shield himself from the internalized homophobia he deals with up until meeting Ace.
NOTE: As stated previously, Mun =/= muse, but I too have been dealing with compulsory heterosexuality for far too long, so I'd like to apologize in advance for projecting a bit of that into my portrayal. I'll work so that this part makes sense with what we've been given from Ace's novel.
VIII. MISCELLANEOUS.
A. I will never force people to follow me, so if by any reason you have to unfollow/block me, please go ahead. Your comfort matters and have every right to do what you must to ensure your wellbeing. With that said, I will not tolerate and will immediately hard block if you try to police my content.
B. I do not follow back immediately, and it can take me from a few hours to several days to follow back. Do not take it personally if I choose not to.
C. If I follow it’s because I am interested in interacting. I only ask you to be patient because it might take me a while to gather the courage to send something to your inbox or talk to you.
D. I have. ZERO knowledge about medicine. Don’t expect me to go full force and try to be 100% accurate, because I won’t.
E. I practice reblog karma (send a meme to someone if I’m rebloging it from them). If you see something you’d like to reblog but have no intention in sending something yourself, then please reblog from the source.
IX. FINISH.
Thank you for taking the time to read this! As you might have noticed, there’s no password to send. Make sure to check the psa tag for any updates, or don’t hesitate to send an ask if there’s anything unclear! I do my best so as not to post too much OOC posts, but sometimes it just happens. If it's nothing important, then I'll erase it whenever I have the chance/remember.

omg I'm so late but for the fic asks 28 + 26 + 31 <3333
omg it’s okay!!! i don’t mind at all!! ☹️ thank u xetou <33
28. How do you deal with writing pressure (ie: pressure to update, negative comments, deadlines, etc)?
okay so i don’t get like negative comments or anything and i’m not like in a group where there’s deadlines so thankfully i don’t have to worry about that. i sometimes worry that i talk too much instead of posting content but i see everyone else doing whatever they wanna do so that pushed me to do the same,,,, i remind myself that this is a hobby and that my writing spark comes and goes, and that there r really grateful ppl that don’t mind if a writer posts once in a blue moon so... :) i just try to stay positive about it all ig
26. What’s your biggest distraction when writing?
my phone 😐 i write pretty much everything in my tumblr drafts (ghetto i know) and even though i keep my phone on dnd i always go “omg what’s happening on ig” or “ooo let’s see what twitter is talking about” or “online shopping time!!!!” i think the longest i can go strictly writing and not stopping is probably like 45 mins until my brain gets bored 💀💀
31. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?
eren yeager is definitely my top fav, i started this blog to write for him,,, oddly enough he is one of, if not the, biggest comfort character i have 🥺☹️ i think majority of my followers are here for eren/aot and those posts do better than my yuuji ones so that kinda factors into who i assign all my ideas to, but eren is still my favorite/the easiest person to write for :)

So... Let's talk about Hetalia. Controversies, Specifically.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tagging @apply-force-too-begin since they’re the one who was interested.
Hetalia was one of my first big fandoms outside of 'The Big Three' anime (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece) and outside of video games (mostly whatever wee babby weeaboo me could get on the Gamecube).
And, you know what? It's a dumb, silly anime about stereotypes, poking fun at the absurdities of History, and one's relationships with clashing cultures. It's dumb... But, remember, we all need our daily thirty minutes of dumb. And some of the characters are cute.
And, you know what? Most of the most engaging aspects of the fandom were those who used the initial shallow splash of history that the anime gave them to actually research and make engaging, well-written, culturally-sensitive content.
Of course, I'm not going to ignore how... Over-the-top some members of the fandom have been. We've seen how, whenever recent political conflict or natural disaster have occurred, we have to remind younger members of the Hetalia fandom to not cutsiefy it with the Hetalia characters. Examples that come to mind are: when the conflict between Russia and Ukraine was surging up, kids kept trying to draw art of 'Russia just wants his big sister back~!', and the last major earthquake that hit Japan that had people making fanart of the Japan character which, while some was tasteful and was meant to bring awareness and donations for Disaster Relief, not... all of it was...
Hell, that’s not even bringing into account the last time I went to Anime Expo (way back during Hetalia’s hayday), I was walking around and saw a bunch of Russia and Baltic State cosplayers being interviewed by the news and the one dressed up in a USSR uniform was holding up a Communist flag and shouting ‘Whoo! SOVIET TAKEOVER!!’
However, one thing that I have noticed, while researching for this write-up, was this:
Most of the controversies and pieces of fandom-wank that have surrounded Hetalia and its fandom... Aside from one instance... Are the results of the Western-fandom and Western-localization of the anime  via Funimation.
Aside from one... Most of the issues surrounding Hetalia are due to the West and not even the source media in of itself.
So, with that in mind, let's talk about the main controversies of both Hetalia and its fanbase.
Controversy 1 – The South Korea Controversy/Protests
As I recently answered a question about this, so I'll just pull that answer for this segment:
'To summarize it: there’s a Hetalia character meant to represent South Korea. As every Hetalia character has a gag related to them (America gorges himself on fast food and constantly proclaims himself to be the Hero, Italy is cowardly, Germany is constantly angry, China constantly builds Chinatowns wherever he goes and sells bootleg merchandise, etc), so did S. Korea.
His gag was calling all the other Asian countries ‘big brother’ as well as groping the chests of male characters (China and Japan mostly), proclaiming ‘these mountains belong to South Korea, da ze!’
Of course, people would draw pictures of S. Korea doing his thing but one day during a meeting between a bunch of South Korean politicians and representatives, someone brought out a piece of fanart that depicted S. Korea groping Japan’s chest with the latter looking embarrassed and what not.
They interpreted the character as being an offensive, lecherous stereotype that was somehow belittling S. Korea’s worth as a country.
There were a bunch of small protests until, finally, Himaruya Hidekazu (the creator of Hetalia) just decided to say “you know what? Fine! I’m not getting rid of the character but he’ll never appear in the anime adaptation, okay?!’
So… Yeah! Fun times…'
Magnitude of Controversy – MAJOR
Like... In what universe is 'this meme hurt my feewings, we need to take VALUABLE TIME DURING GOVERNMENT FORUMS to talk about it RATHER THAN OTHER PRESSING ISSUES' a good response? And the fact that people took to the streets to protest? Come on, guys! There's so much more to worry about in this world...
Controversy 2 – Emperor Heliogabalus and Himaruya's 'Transgender Erasure'
There was a section of time where Himaruya Hidekazu, rather than focusing on the nation characters of the series, made chapters and updates about certain historical figures. They were all done for laughs while interspersing various bits of trivia and facts about them.
One of these updates centered around the Roman emperor Heliogabalus (or 'Elagabalus'). And this is where certain portions of this hellsite got soooooo upset...
You see, Himaruya titled the update centered on Heliogabalus as 'The Emperor Who Tried to Live as a Woman... Even Though He Was Really a Guy'.
Almost immediately people were typing up callout posts about how 'transphobic' Himaruya was for the title and 'how dare he misgender my precious trans baby~!' or 'this just goes to show how ignorant Japanese people are to Western history' and so many more, all because Himaruya didn't use out-and-out female pronouns for Heliogabalus.
Now. Mm, two things!
One! This was during the time when Himaruya had an open blog where, not only did he post pictures and updates about where in the world he was traveling and what he was researching, but it also had an inbox that was open for people to send insight to him.
So, if people were really incensed by this, you would think that they would use such a means to let a creator know 'hey, this is kind of problematic; can you edit it to show this information', right?
Right?
Tumblr media
NO ONE tried to inform Himaruya of their upset; they literally didn't want an answer, they just wanted to be upset!
But, here's the kicker: the guy that all of these people were stanning for? Emperor Heliogabalus?
WASN'T FUCKING TRANS!!
The real Heliogabalus was a sadistic little shit who was connivingly put on the throne by his mother via a bunch of espionage and assassinations... Who, as thanks, had his own mother murdered once he was emperor. Other wonderful exploits of this 'icon' that tumblr kids decided to stan was:
Getting politicians and countrymen drunk and then, while they were passed out, brought in lions to kill and eat them
Deciding 'fuck Jupiter, Helios is my husbando – We're all going to worship him now!'
Completely wrecking Rome's monetary system
Promising favors to his lovers (whom he called his 'husbands' despite not making anything official) that strictly contradicted favors to his other lovers
And just generally being a hot mess
So... why were tumblr children so insistent on him being a transgender woman?
You ready for this?
Okay.
Because he occaisionally dressed in women's clothing and called his male lovers his 'husbands'.
Yeah.
One of the earliest case of tumblr children trying to ruin someone's life because they didn't follow their headcanons.
Magnitude of Controversy – Honestly, this was just fandom-wank. But it was one of the earlier instances of fandom brats using serious terms (transphobia) to justify being upset at a creator not following their headcanons.
Controversy 3 – The Passover Photoshoot
I'm sorry, just...
Everytime I remember or have to go over this one, I have to stop and reflect; maybe grab a drink.
Okay.
So, pretty early into the Western reaches of the Hetalia fandom, a group of friends and Hetalia fans decided to meet up together at a mall for a cosplay photoshoot.
Okay. Cool. Fine.
They were all dressed up as their favorite characters from the series! Germany, Austria, Hungary, P-Prussia, Holy... Roman Empire...
Ahem. Okay. Cool. Fine.
So, they get to the mall and start taking pictures. But then someone in the group gets the amazing idea for everyone to do certain poses.
I... You know, why did I start this, I could have just not done thi--
Nazi salutes. You had a bunch of dumb kids dressed up as Germanic nations. Performing Nazi salutes and shouting 'Heil Hitler'.
Now, as bad as this was... you could have just drawn it out as shitty edgelord humor; we still have plenty of that going on today.
H-however. There were two factors that made this photoshoot 50 Shades of Tasteless.
Number one. This photoshoot took place during Passover.
And number two. The mall that this photoshoot took place at...
WAS JUST A HOP, SKIP, AND A JUMP FROM THE UNITED STATES HOLOCAUST MUSEUM!!!
This is the one, THE ONE, instance where, anytime someone talks about 'lol, young Hetalia fans are so cringey', this is what pops into my head.
Those of us older members of the fandom can never fucking forget this. Yeah, the perpetrators were called out; yeah, they learned their lessons, yeah it opened up a conversation about appropriate behavior in fandom. But this one event will always remain as the big 'Ooh, baby, nooooo! What are you doing?!' moment in the fandom.
Even moreso than what the current batch of hatedum is about.
Magnitude of Controversy – Huge. The South Korea controversy was discussed on a governmental scale, but the Passover Photoshoot is what remains as the biggest mark on the fandom.
Controversy 4 - FUCKING FUNIMATION!!
Okay, I...
Tumblr media
This one is so infuriating because it’s the result of Funimation just not giving a DAMN.
So, Hetalia got popular enough to be localized! Yay... And it was going to be handled by Funimation. Yay... They do quality work... Sometimes.
*kicks the Black Butler dub into the sun*
So, they dubbed Hetalia. And, you know what? So many questionable decisions went into this fucking dub.
You have Vic Mignogna! You! *clap* Have! *clap* Vic! *clap* Mignogna! You could have easily put him as one of the Axis characters or the Allied characters and you...
Don’t use him...
Until three seasons down the line...
And then you have him as Greece.
A character who barely says anything.
... And this was WAY before the clusterfuck of KickVic, so they really had no excuse.
Oh, also! For China, who is a main character, maybe we should have an actual voice-actor?
Pssh! Fuck that shit, let’s just have some random chick from accounting voice him.
... They literally had some random-chick from accounting do an overly stereotypical Chinese accent and said ‘yeah, that’s fine; print!’
And she gave us such... wonderful line-reads as: during the Hetalia movie Paint It, White! --
“SUCK BALLS! I knew za fortune cookie today was bad ruck~!”
But as bad as the dub got sometimes (Oh God, I’m having war flashbacks of Russia...), the exchange from the dub that people constantly point to as ‘see! This show was antisemitic all along!’ were these:
Exchange 1 -
S. Italy/Romano - ‘Hey asshole, I have a surprise for you~!’
Germany - ‘What is it? Another Jew?’
And, you know what? As asinine and idiotic as that brief exchange was...
IT WASN’T IN THE ORIGINAL MATERIAL!
Funimation, in their infinite wisdom, wrote that in and thought ‘yeah, that’s fine; print!’
So, there goes another issue of ‘problem that only existed because of the idiocy of a Western presence’.
Magnitude of Controversy - Well, people are still talking about it, despite it literally being because of Funimation’s laziness, so...
'Controversy' 5 – The Civil War fanart
So, this segment will be short because it doesn't even need to exist. But, you may have noticed an upsurge in people hating on the series again; even going so far as to raid Discord servers for fans of the series with gore.
Hell, I even scrolled past one person doing a 'call to arms' for people to spam any server that has to do with Hetalia as a big 'gotcha'.
And you wanna know where this fandom-wank started?
Someone on tumblr re-posted an old piece of... questionable chibi fanart of Confederate!America and Union!America. Union!America is hiding a slave woman behind him while shouting at Confederate!America to 'Pick your own damn cotton!'
(deep breath... okay)
And, while the art in of itself is... not great, the fact that it is an old piece of fanart and that someone posted it onto tumblr for the 'lol, look at this cringe' lolz, is what rallied some people to start shitting on fans of the show and raiding servers.
There also may have been some drama over on picrew by some teenage LGBT user lashing out at the whole 'stop spamming Picrew with gay shit' sentiment and then some edgelord over on this hellsite screencapping their game and talking about 'lol, of course it would be a cringey Hetalian to post some dumb shit like this; get off the site, queer' but, honestly, this last one, while being the reason why people are acting dumber than usual, is the most inconsequential.
Magnitude of the Controversy – It would be minimal at best, especially compared to the other ones in this write-up, but like I said, it does have some trickling into the current hatedumb.
So, yeah, here was my little write-up/mini-dive into the madness. You guys can let me know if you want more insight or if you have any questions, and I love you and buh-bye!

Note
I'm glad you addressed your old negativity. Few years ago, that was my biggest gripe with this blog. Good intention, but harsh treatment sometimes. This might be a disagreeable point, but the narrow-minded interpretation of some nontrad suffixes, in my opinion, really hindered creativity. Plus, the rejection of synonyms leads to that lampshaded hallowed list of suffixes. Made trad usage look like a stick in the mud. I think you should make it clearer it's ok for writers to supply meaning (1/2)
(2/2) for some words. The system became more “this is law” than a guide usage and actually give clear point and structure to names. Re-looking at the nontrad list, reflecting over it, a lot just comes off “well, why not?” which isn’t helped by some of the attitude it’s written in. I’d really love to see newer, fresher takes with possible new revaluations, and at least some more personal creativity encouragement.
I understand what you’re saying and thank you for the feedback, but you have a different goal for this blog than I do, I think? My goal here is to run a fun, pleasant, helpful traditional naming + advice blog. I’m sure to many people that seems boring or isn’t their thing, but I don’t mind looking like “a stick in the mud” for doing things the way I do, because I’m having a massive amount of fun and also I’m not actually stopping anyone from doing anything else: I frequently tell people that their creative decisions are their own, and that this blog exists as a springboard for their own ideas, not as a finished product.
If you follow it as a rule, instead of as the guidelines I frequently describe it as (including in the section literally labelled “the guidelines,” where I have the traditional checklist available to read), then that’s your choice and it’s not one that I recommended. That’s not the intended use of Ailuronymy! I’ve said it many times over the years that everyone should do what makes them happy when it comes to making your own Warriors works, etc. and I don’t know what more I can do there; I have said often that people are welcome to pick-and-mix whatever they want from this blog and leave behind whatever doesn’t work for them. I feel that’s the best I can do.
I also disagree on the front of creativity, but I do recognise that the traditional style of naming doesn’t appeal to everyone. I prefer not to imply any style is less or more creative than any other, because it’s frankly not true! I also personally disagree with the not-open-mindedness you’re suggesting, because it sort of positions non-traditional styles as “open-minded” (presumably because of the absence of “rules”?) and traditional style as “close-minded” (I assume because of the presence of “rules”?), when they’re actually just two different styles resulting from two different tastes in world-building. Close-minded, I feel, implies that I shut out possibilities before giving them a fair thought–but the truth is, I put a lot of thought into what I like, what I don’t, what I feel works, and what I feel doesn’t.
Since I’ve repeatedly changed my position on certain things when people have pointed out my errors in thinking (for example, the suffix -flower) and/or updated my stance when people sent me new information, and I’ve highlighted alternative interpretations/ways of doing things that aren’t strictly traditional but would still be fun, I feel that claiming what I do is narrow-minded is maybe a little bit inaccurate and actually somewhat harsh on me. I strive to be open-minded in what I do here: I just also have my own preferred style, and I don’t feel those two things are at all exclusive or incompatible!
As for new takes on old material, I’m afraid you’re out of luck! I already do encourage creative expression and individual thought in my responses and I’m content with the effort I’m giving there. But I’m the only person writing this blog and I write about, as I said before, the traditional system. I’m fundamentally not interested in non-traditional naming etc., and that won’t change. I like this system; I like talking about it and I find it overall the most interesting path to take when it comes to names and world-building. I won’t be branching off into other styles.
I absolutely agree with you about the delivery of my thoughts on the prefixes and suffixes in the past, like I said in the other post, but other than that, I feel in recent years I am acting exactly as I am happy to do so here. I get the feeling from this feedback what you’d really like is for this blog to be a different blog, and that’s not what I’m about. If the current way I’m running Ailuronymy doesn’t work for you, then I’m afraid it’s probably not the right blog for you.
tl;dr: I’m very willing to admit to my mistakes, but running this blog according to the naming style I like best isn’t a mistake. Sorry about that and I hope some aspects of the blog will still be useful to you, Ruddles, even if it’s not everything you would like it to be.

The 24-year-old V God's open life: from the talented teen who developed games to the founder of Ethereum having a net really worth of hundreds of billions
To understand electronic foreign currency and blockchain, in addition to Bitcoin, we have to mention Ethereum, which is the second largest in marketplace value. 10 years back, the emergence of Bitcoin allowed people to acknowledge the everyday living of blockchain technologies, and began to yearn for and discover the decentralized planet; 5 years ago, the emergence of Ethereum permitted people to witness the huge possible and infinite behind the blockchain may. From some data, we can see the huge effect of Ethereum within the currency circle in those days: In 2017, the price of ETH increased almost 90 situations from the reduced stage; the ICO initiated by Ethereum became the most popular approach to fundraising. The global amount elevated through ICOs exceeded 4 billion U.S. bucks; the total marketplace value of global digital currencies furthermore soared from 18 billion U.S. dollars at the beginning of the entire year to 560 billion U.S. dollars in 2017. If Satoshi Nakamoto is the creator of Bitcoin and blockchain, after that Vitalik born within the 90s has created a new era of smart contracts and brought great prosperity to the global cryptocurrency marketplace. He had been 19 years old when he founded Ethereum, and he was named "V God" within the circle. Nowadays, let's become familiar with the 24-year-old V The almighty again, and pay attention to his life story, how he went from a talented teenager with super intelligence to the creator of Ethereum having a net worth of a huge selection of billions. Regarded as a kid prodigy since he had been a child, he developed little games at age 10 V God was born in Russia in 1994 and immigrated to Canada with his father when he was 5 yrs . old. He is a Russian Canadian. He has already been "extraordinarily gifted" since he was a child and has extraordinary abilities. In the 3rd grade of primary school, The almighty V showed amazing talent. When most people hadn't memorized the multiplication table of nine to nine, Our god V could already perform three-digit mental arithmetic at twice the quickness of his peers, so he Naturally, I inserted the school's "Genius Youth Class" specially create for talented college students.
Tumblr media
By the 5th and sixth marks, everyone thought he has been a math genius. He also realized he was better than ordinary individuals, and was even a tiny bit distressed, "Why can't I carry out at an average of 75 factors like everyone else." There's also rumors that when he has been 7 yrs . old, V God created a name called " The complex document of "Bunny Encyclopedia" is a small world made up of rabbits, that is filled with mathematics, graphs and calculations. https://cvplab.org/central-bank-of-canada-the-potential-impact-of-central-bank-digital-money-on-bank-deposits/ in the world strictly stick to the formula. Lord V recalled he first encountered a computer when he had been 10 years aged. 10 years aged is the age group when children are addicted to online games. God V is no exception, and he is furthermore an "Web addicted teen." Most kids are using toys or chasing and using their close friends, but V God chooses to utilize computer programming to create small games. The initial program he wrote was a game where the golf ball bounced to shoot. V God later laughed and known as this sport "Vitalik's version of Area Invaders." Furthermore, he also produced some strategy games based on medieval legends as a child. V God cute photos while i was young At the age of 13, V Our god became dependent on playing "Wow", often near the computer all day, playing Warcraft each day. Until afterwards, in a new version update, a casino game company terminated a must-kill ability for his dearest game character "Warlock". This video game character V Lord has reached degree 80. V Our god is distraught and contains repeatedly published I emailed and approached the engineers of the game company in the state forum and questioned them to revive this skill, but the response had been "The business did this away from consideration for online game balance and cannot be restored." Afterwards, V God chose to give up playing Warcraft. This might also pave just how for V God's later thinking: In the world of Internet games, players are usually fragile as individuals, and game designers are the manage center of the overall game. One of the biggest drawbacks of the centralized service is that everything is The developer gets the final say, gamers can only choose to passively acknowledge or quit the overall game. In no way dismissive of Bitcoin To state when The almighty V begun to become connected with Bitcoin, it's important to talk about his dad Dmitry Buterin, who was enlightened by his dad to know Bitcoin. In those days, V God has been 17 years old. His father experienced his own corporation, Wild Apricot, as soon as introduced the concept of Bitcoin to V Lord. In those days, Bitcoin was born less than 2 years ago. V Our god first heard about Bitcoin & most of that time period. People have exactly the same reaction, dismissive, thinking that Bitcoin has no real value and can not need long-term growth. Selfie picture of V Our god and father Afterwards, V God's father sold his firm and became the co-founder of BlockGeeks, a blockchain incubator. V God once again learned about the idea of Bitcoin from his dad and learned that it was based on a decentralization This time he was fascinated by the cryptocurrency of blockchain technologies. He made a decision to study Bitcoin. This analysis was unable to extricate himself. In March 2011, Lord V begun to write some articles about Bitcoin by himself. He fulfilled a pal who wished to take up a Bitcoin blog for the Bitcoin chat community forum. God V contributed articles to the web site and obtained 5 Bitcoins for every article. (It had been worth $3.5 at that time) until the website went bankrupt. At exactly the same time, he wrote for a magazine called "Bitcoin Weekly". At that time, V God should have saved a lot of Bitcoin. More importantly, during the time of writing, Lord V has accumulated a lot of knowledge and first-hand information about Bitcoin, and has also made several friends that are also thinking about Bitcoin. And blockchain technology also has a deeper knowing. In Sept 2011, a pal called Mihai Alisie approached V God and invited him to become the chief writer of the newly founded "Bitcoin Mag" (Bitcoin Mag). V The almighty also grew to become the co-founder, in 2014 Continue steadily to write and give food to before the center of the year. (The magazine was obtained in 2015 and changed to the web version, that is the extranet we frequently browse at this point.) Actual physical publication of Bitcoin Magazine Later, when V Lord was 18 or 9 years old, he was admitted to the University of Waterloo in Canada (ranked 18th in the world for computer science) to review computer science. But he lowered out of college 8 months after entering college. Because he found that he was filled with bitcoins, he couldn't perform both research, writing, and studies in bitcoin at school. After dropping from school, V Our god visited Amsterdam, SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, Israel along with other cities to review, visited the Bitcoin developer community, and approached some cryptocurrency tasks. Along the way, he gradually discovered the restrictions of Bitcoin, so he wanted to discover Bitcoin in Program opportunities beyond cryptocurrency. While in Israel, God V discovered that many residents were doing Bitcoin propaganda work, but the Bitcoin concept they popularized has been very complicated. God V was considering whether there is any way to easily simplify these complex methods and how exactly to highlight the features of the blockchain. We know that for security reasons, Satoshi Nakamoto just used a complex scripting language to create the Bitcoin process. However, this language intentionally limited the difficulty of transactions and triggered Bitcoin never to incubate. More programs. Vshen believes that when we can develop a platform that everyone may use, so that developers can freely construct their very own blockchain applications on it, it might be great. Started Ethereum and had been called V God At the end of 2013, V Shenyou returned to Toronto after learning, and immediately wrote down his ideas and wrote a white paper. In the white-colored paper, he launched the "Ethereum" project for the first time. He suggested to develop a new platform using a more prevalent scripting language. To carry the development of applications, such as for example social networking, trading, game applications, etc., this is actually the later "Ethereum Wise Contract". At that time, V God sent the white paper to 15 close friends, and these 15 individuals sent it with their close friends one after another. The white-colored paper spread rapidly in the Bitcoin local community and obtained unanimous praise from everyone. Confident V Lord convened several partners to start out the deployment of Ethereum at the beginning of 2014. He committed to the $100,000 scholarship or grant he received at that time (Paypal founder and Facebook's very first external investor Peter Thiel for Scholarships granted to encourage young people under the age of 20 to start out a business) to the project. In addition, V God also designed a fresh cryptocurrency foreign currency for Ethereum-Ether (ETH), and made a decision to raise money through ICO like additional cryptocurrencies. In July 2014, the crowdfunding of ETH has been officially released, and customers can pre-purchase ETH with Bitcoin. The trade ratio is 1 Bitcoin to 2000 Ether. Based on the cost of 600 USD per Bitcoin at that time, the initial worth of 1 Ether is approximately 0.3 USD. To everyone's surprise, the crowdfunding was a huge achievement from the beginning. A lot more than 3,500 bitcoins were elevated within 12 hours. After 42 times of crowdfunding, a complete of 31,529 bitcoins were raised, that was worth 18.4 million at that time. Dollar. As one of the bright spots and trump cards of Ethereum, clever contracts are favored by developers because of their versatility and flexibility. Soon, Ethereum had been recognized by a lot of people and became synonymous with the second generation of blockchain technologies. The Ether released by it quickly became the world's 2nd largest digital foreign currency after Bitcoin. At the same time, V-God brought the team to establish a nonprofit organization, the Ethereum Basis, in Switzerland, and Vtalik has since been called "V-God". Experiencing storms and crises Smart contracts have got significant advantages in terms of versatility and versatility, but there's also some security risks. In May 2016, The DAO (Discentralized Autonomous Business), the decentralized firm of Ethereum, finished a $150 million crowdfunding and prepared to invest in some start-up tasks in Ethereum through wise contracts. Who would have thought that this large sum of funds attracted hackers. In June 2016, hackers used the program code loopholes in The DAO smart contract to strike and stole 50 million U.S. dollars really worth of ether. This is the well-known " The DAO occurrence" is also the biggest digital currency theft. In those days, following the DAO has been hacked, everyone questioned the protection of smart agreements, and many investors fell into panic. Ether fell from US$20 to US$10, as well as the global market worth evaporated by US$500 million over night. After discussing with the group, the 22-year-old God V made a bold decision-to retrieve all of the lost ether through a hard fork, and the stolen funds will be rolled back again to the smart contract to recover User loss. This process is actually contrary to the decentralized and immutable nature from the blockchain, but V God considered more traders' losses at that time. So this decision led to a hard fork of Ethereum. One faction has been Etherum Classic, and they chose to continue steadily to maintain the unique Ethereum; another faction has been Ethereum led by The almighty V, plus they updated the Ethereum A lot of security vulnerabilities continue to operate on the new chain. In the past two years, the technologies of Ethereum provides matured and developed, and the position of Ethereum has been recognized by the marketplace. From March to June 2017, the price tag on ETH begun to skyrocket, and the marketplace value of Ethereum once reached more than 80% of Bitcoin. However, bitcoin price flattened, and something wave started once again. In June 2017, another rumor that "the founder of Ethereum died in a car accident" broke out on the Internet, and it was distribute wildly by domestic and foreign media, causing the cost of Ether to plummet by 30% and the marketplace value of vast sums of bucks evaporated. Later, Our god V submitted a hash worth of the 3930000th prevent on his Twitter to prove he was still alive, angering the absurd rumor having a connotative photo. Gengzhi Boy wants to change the world through Ethereum V God's personality has always been fairly straightforward. CVPLab - BLOCKCHAIN x CONSTRUCTION as mentioned that "Ao Ben Satoshi" is really a "madman", he as soon as caused EOS founder BM, and Sunlight Justin stated that "TRON is definitely rubbish." As a strong rival of Ethereum in those days, EOS used the DPoS system. V Our god bombarded the development of the blockchain platform with this mechanism. The two have repeatedly fought on Tweets over the problem of "POS or POW that is more decentralized". But in the eyes of BM, he and Lord V are in fact "disharmonious in technique but the same way". Although each took its own path, the best goal would be to try to reduce social problem and maximize social freedom. V God, who has been a genius since childhood, also believes that he has a objective that is different from ordinary people, especially after getting into the blockchain field, he really wants to do something that may really change the planet through Ethereum. V God often expresses his thoughts on Twitter, not wanting Ethereum to become a bubble of speculation and prosperity, but really can bring some true impact to the planet. For instance, in 2017, Ethereum is at a stable and rapid growth stage, and the price of ETH also skilled various rounds of skyrocketing. V God warned all Ethereum users on Twitter to treat Ethereum maturely, otherwise they will withdraw from Ethereum. God V does not want Ethereum to become bubble beneath the carnival, but to permeate all sectors and decentralize the world's economic climate, society, and lifestyle. Before year or two, V God provides been to several countries to take part in conferences and lectures, to market the technology of Ethereum and other related knowledge, and help people form the correct knowledge of Ethereum. Today, ETH ranks second within the global digital foreign currency ranking with market worth of 150 billion RMB. A lot more than 90% of the top 100 digital cryptocurrencies are designed on the Ethereum platform; a lot more than 70% from the blockchain applications may also be built for the Ethereum Over the Fang platform. Although Ethereum may have been quite successful inside our eyes, it could still be quite a distance from what he wants to achieve in the heart of Our god V.

Thailand: Places
Tumblr media
My next trip won’t be for another week and I’m too excited, so I’ll distract myself by writing a proper Thailand post since I’ve been feeling TH-nostalgic lately.
Also, I’ve been putting off writing about it for months so it’s probably just right to stop procrastinating and check this off my to-do list before the year ends.
The last time I wrote about the land of Cha Yen, I actually was still IN Thailand - running around for about two weeks and still had a few places left to visit. But that was more of a personal blog entry.
So... here are the places in Thailand I’d love to see again:  A more concise post.
The photos aren’t as high-res as my more recent posts as this trip was months ago, but please bear with it, thanks.
Passport Bookshop
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s a cute, dainty, silent cafe along Khao San Rd. This road is famously known as home of the backpackers since this is where you’ll find a lot of cheap hostels and bars. Amidst the loud noise of Khao San, Passport Bookshop serves as an introvert’s oasis. Here, you’ll find an assortment of coffee and tea (they have a shelf-full), books (both foreign and local), journals, and the most-artsy-yet-affordable postcards (around 5-20 baht / 7-25 php).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monkey Temple (Phra Prang Sam Yot), Lopburi
Tumblr media
Lopburi is a small town, 2-3 hours away from Bangkok. Here, is where you can find the famous and bad-ass monkeys of Phra Prang Sam Yot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The monkeys don’t just live at the temple though, they roam around the whole town so be mindful of your belongings. There’s also a museum showcasing the town’s history nearby, so check that out if you are into it.
Entrace to the temple is around 30-50 baht for tourists and around 10-15 baht for locals. I looked really Thai (hahahaha for real), and came with Thai friends and was only asked to pay the local price. So, come with your Thai friends if you could.
Ayutthaya
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you’ve ever played Ragnarok, you probably know that the places were based from real life.  Ayothaya in Ragnarok was actually based from this place.
I don’t know what it is, there’s just an air of the past in this place. The ruins, the floating market, elephants... it just feels like I’m back in time somehow. I had a really peaceful afternoon spent here shopping around through a boat ride.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know that one of the reasons why Ayutthaya is visited by tourists is because of the elephants. But, I don’t know. I couldn’t get myself to ride one. Taking a photo already made me feel extremely guilty. So... I feel like if you’d like to see elephants, visit an elephant sanctuary instead. Don’t worry, there are lots of those, mostly in Chiang Rai.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chiang Rai
Chiang Rai is an hour (or two) away from Chiang Mai and is high above the mountains. I went to this town to visit the three famous temples representing Heaven, Earth, and the Underworld (it’s probably representing something more profound than that but that’s how I understood it with my limited knowledge of Thailand’s culture and religion.)
1. Wat Rong Kun (The White Temple)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This temple used to be in such bad shape due to being underfunded, but a local visual artist, Chalermchai Kositpipat, decided to rebuild the place so the Wat Rong Kun at present is actually his vision.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s a museum as well housing Chalermchai Kositpipat’s masterpieces. That small museum is also something else! I think, to be honest, I enjoyed that as much as I enjoyed looking at the actual temple. This guy is a genius, in my opinion, and I’m bummed that I can’t show you what was displayed inside as taking photos is strictly prohibited. But I bought so many postcards because they were of his paintings!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Wat Rong Suea Ten (The Blue Temple)
Tumblr media
This one was still under renovation when I visited but it was like visiting Buddha in his underwater kingdom. This was built by a student of Mr. Chalermchai Kositpipat (the guy I was raving about earlier). I feel so bad that I don’t know his name. I will try to Google it and update this afterwards.
Tumblr media
3. Baan Dam (The Black House)
Tumblr media
It’s an art gallery of Thawan Duchanee - the visual artist who designed and opened the place to the public. I don’t think anyone really considers it as a temple. It houses odd, medieval, and viking-like artworks, furniture, and houses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They also have dance and music performances showcasing Chiang Rai’s traditions and folklore. And a souvenir shop where you can buy preserved insects and penis key chains, in case you were looking for those. Yep.
Tumblr media
4. Choui Fong Tea Plantation
Tumblr media
Matcha lovers, rejoice. If you are into all things tea, why not go to a tea house overlooking the plantation where those tea leaves were harvested?
Tumblr media
Choui Fong Tea Plantation is high above the mountains and it may be best to rent a motorbike (which will also give you a thrill going through the mountain slopes). You can buy lots of tea-related products to bring back home and chill at the tea house.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4.5 Cat ‘n a Cup Cafe
Tumblr media
I mean.. I know we have loads of cat cafes here in the PH, but since you’re already in Chiang Rai, check this place out to relax. Because, duh, kitties.
Tumblr media
Night Markets are also not to be missed. Not just in Chiang Rai but also around Bangkok. You can buy lots of artsy, kpop, hipster, instagramm-able stuff for extremely low prices.
Tumblr media
Bangkok
Tumblr media
I’m placing Bangkok last as, to be honest, I enjoyed the rural parts of Thailand more. Bangkok is definitely THE city.
It has that fast-paced, tourist-y city vibe but of course, it houses places you can only experience there. My advice is go to the Central Pier and try to visit every station along the river.
Tumblr media
If you are planning to do that, then don’t buy the tourist boat pass which will only take you to the few stations where the popular tourist spots are.
But if you only have time for the usual places, then the pass will be worth it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Visit the Wats (Wat Po, Wat Arun, etc.) and the Grand Palace.
Because it’s the city, expect that entrance fees are a bit pricier (and that the places are a bit overcrowded). For example, going inside the Grand Palace already costs 500baht (it’s expensive, I know!) so expect an entrance fee of around 100-500 baht per place.
If you are on a tight budget though, I suggest going to the Grand Palace as it already houses a lot of temples and Thai-styled buildings. But Wat Arun also is not to be missed... so aim for those two!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s a well-known scam wherein as you are heading to, say, the Grand Palace, a hustler will tell you that unfortunately, the place is closed that day and will offer you a private tour of the city instead for a fee. Politely decline these offers. If someone tells you that a place is closed, it most likely isn’t, and they are simply hoping you’d hire them as a tour guide because they seem to know so much. Always check the place out yourself or ask Google.
Tumblr media
By the way, if you’re into the unusual or just want to try something exotic, visit Siriraj Medical Museum in Bangkok. I don’t have pictures since taking photos is strictly prohibited - plus, even if it weren’t, I wouldn’t be able to get myself to stare long enough at each piece displayed, because this is where you can find preserved corpses of people who died from, well... different reasons. There’s just lots of dead bodies, guys!
Yep, it’s definitely creepy. I went with a Romanian guy and he walked out as soon as he walked in. Hahahahaha. It’s definitely something you can only experience in Bangkok though. Here, I’m grabbing this photo from Google Images with the watermark to show you what it’s like: (credits to the owner)
Tumblr media
Ughhhh, just remembering it gives me the creeps. PS: that’s a real corpse!
Dumping unrelated, happier, Bangkok photos now.
Tumblr media
Ang Thong
Tumblr media
I almost forgot! Let’s not forget to visit Ang Thong! I spent a lot of time here with an awesome family - my Thai fam. *remembers fondly*
It’s an hour or two away from Bangkok and it was my first rural experience since arriving. It’s a quiet town that feels like it’s siesta time all the time.
Tumblr media
Also, you can find LOTS of temples here and the biggest Buddhas, so if you are like me who wanted to do a Temple Run, you’ll love it here. I was extremely fortunate to spend the Sogkran Festival (Thai New Year) here with great people.
Tumblr media
Overall, if you are planning your first solo backpacking trip like I was, Thailand is definitely the place to go, simply because it’s not as expensive as other places. Hostels go for as low as 200php a night and a meal costs around 50php. It’s a way for you to experience a completely different culture and way of life without being too far away from home.
With fondness and nostalgia,
N

questions tag!
thank you for tagging me @sambashua!! I wanna get to know you better too :D
1. Ultimate Bias(es)? kim namjoon - bts, jackson wang - got7, and lee taeyong - nct.
2. Who are your TOP 3 groups? hmm, probably seventeen, bts, and monsta x.
3. What are your 3 favorite songs? I’m Serious by Day6 (same Mir), 21 by Dean, and Very Nice by Seventeen :)
4. What do you like to do in your free time? if i’m not sleeping, watching anime/kdramas, or writing, i’m probably dead
5. Are there any places you would like to visit that you haven’t already visited? hawaii mainly!! as well as scotland and japan
6. Do you have a dream job? this is probably a weird dream (not for a virgo though), but I’d like to be the personal assistant of someone super powerful? like, a ceo or a fashion designer. just knowing i’m in charge of all that and I make it all run smoothly is a dream. plus the pay.... woo
7. If you could meet ANY Korean CELEBRITY (Includes Actors, Models, K-Music artists, etc.), who would it be? okay don’t laugh: first, I wanna go to a super fancy dinner with jay park. I don’t know why but I think it’d just be funny for us to be around some really stuck up people but we just came in like,,, tracksuits or something and he’s swearing up and down and just being gross while I laugh. next, I would want nam joo hyuk to give me a really big warm boyfriend hug??? like i just want to be embraced by the boy. third, I’d want to spend the night star gazing with jonghyun from shinee and just talking about life lol and fourth, i’d like to just give jackson wang a big kiss on the cheek and hug him for a while.
8. What do you love most about your bias group(s)? i’m about to get emo, ok. for seventeen... they were the first boy group I got into and the second kpop group in general that I got into (red velvet being the first). there was just this really strong familial feeling that came from them, and that kind of concept really gets me. I love how close they are with each other, how they all work together and love each other so much like a real family even though prior to training they didn’t even really know each other. I often daydream of being in the midst of all that? like it’s a group of thirteen boys so I know it can’t be as fun as I make it out to be lol but I just imagine being friends with them and hanging out and being close with them all and it makes me feel warm. seventeen as a feeling for me is warmth. they’re definitely the biggest bias group for me. they hold a very special place in my heart.
for bts, I really love the emphasis they put on their music. they take pride in the stuff they make, and I can’t even name a song I don’t like by them because they all appeal to me one way or another. I love that every member works so hard to perfect their crafts, and they don’t accept less than for their fanbase. they really love armies, and they make that known whenever they can. I really don’t think we deserve them sometimes.
for monsta x... wow. I have so much respect for this group. from the shit storm that was no mercy to the endless nights and struggles to get their first big award, they have worked so hard and tirelessly and it breaks my heart that they still get cheated out and stolen from and they don’t deserve that. they’re a group of funny, sweet, and loving guys who would do anything for their fans and I know it’s so stressful on them to perform exceedingly well, what with so many newer groups catching awards left and right. I know it can be disconcerting, but they still keep at it, and I really admire them for it.
9. Who are your ultimate bias wreckers? min yoongi swooped in like a hawk when I was just innocently loving mr. rap monstre. also... changkyun kind of just came out of nowhere and snatched me from minhyuk?? i’ll blame my groupchat i.e. @seoulscapes and @minsugadotcom for enabling this mess
10. What do you wish for the most to happen? for monsta x to win all the awards they’re nominated for, for monsta x to get nominated for all the awards, for kpop companies to stop sleeping on and mistreating their foreign idols as well as cheating out and disbanding older girl groups yet letting older boy groups make the same damn music for years, for yixing to get some respect, for kris wu to explain some of the phrases he used in juice because i’m still confused, for lim changkyun to leave me alone, for-
11. When did you get into kpop and how? the process was a few grueling months of being a 1D/5SOS blog and seeing all of my mutuals turn into exo blogs before I slowly transitioned into one as well. I think what did it (besides listening to ice cream cake by red velvet omg) was coming across a vine of vernon and just... spiraling from there
12. What made you decide to have a tumblr blog? this one in particular was made because, like i stated above, I was running a blog I’d had since my superwholock days (cringe) and I had a lot of mutuals I liked on there so I didn’t want to delete, but I also didn’t really use it that often? so, this blog was originally gonna be a strictly marvel blog, but all of the big marvel blogs never updated often enough and then I was like “what if I turned it into a kpop blog instead?” and then I posted a really bad jungkook one shot on here called “moonlight” and now here I am.
13. Favorite colour? blue mainly, but anything on the red spectrum too (though I prefer blues and purples to those)
14. Favorite animal? wolves :)
15. What are your interests? writing, reading, listening to music in the dark of my room and coming up with elaborate music video ideas, experimenting with interior design, and going for walks at dusk alone
16. Would you prefer movies or music? music. let’s be honest, movies are nothing without music anyway
17. What would you like to achieve (or experience) before the age of 60? death- jk jk. I think I’d really like to get married to someone I love a lot, have a few kids and a lot more pets and just be happy together. I’d also really like to move to hawaii or paris and live there for the rest of my life.
this was a lot of fun and I ended up talking a lot more than I thought I would?? I would like to tag my babes @seoulscapes and @hongbombs (i utilize the fact that you have two blogs, jen lolol), @lostinmonstax @ralph-mountainlodge and anyone else who wants to do it!!!

Note
Are you capable of being in a sexual relationship? Do you undergo therapy? There are strictly softcore Bdsm related erotic photography blogs, but almost none of them won't contain triggers. You'd have to make it all yourself by cherrypicking posts. It's probably better to avoid Bdsm, collaring all together if it's so problematic because Bdsm is inherently sexual.
Ah, boy. And here, folks, we have a prime example of the #1 problem with BDSM community as a whole.
Actually, no it’s not. And that’s the BIGGEST problem with most people who are in the community. They are all under the assumption it is sexual. And it’s not. For people who enjoy intercourse, it is. But not for the asexual community and not for people with serious sex-related PTSD like me and not for people with vaginas who have vaginismus. There is a WHOLE OTHER SIDE to BDSM. It’s called the lifestyle side. The lifestyle side of BDSM CAN contain sexual things, but it doesn’t HAVE to. The lifestyle side all things like…speech restriction, commands, micromanagement, certain fets that don’t involve sex like bloodplay/knifeplay, petplay, certain types of torture, suspension, ropeplay, binding, cageplay, voiceplay, leash training, some things in DD/lg are most DEFINITELY not sexual, *ahem* COLLARING, etc etc etc …tbh, I could name almost ANY fet and make it not sexual. It’s just that people who DON’T have those issues I named above don’t see a problem with it. And majority of the BDSM community is under the same impression you are: that BDSM is inherently sexual, when it most certainly is not. Getting your sub to a level of subspace doesn’t have to be sexual either; it can be purely mental stimulation. (Like everything is to me...alll pain and BDSM-related things are pure mental stimulation which is what I live for.) It’s living life in BDSM world…you live with your dom/sub/switch (s) and…I mean…are you seriously going to be doing sexual things literally 24/7? I’m honestly not sure how someone could do that, but…I mean…if you go to work or school and do sexual things, PLEASE, by all means, inform me how you accomplish that. Because I would love to know. When you go to sleep/eventually have to sleep, do you sleep with a penis inside you or a dildo inside you or something? I’m a little confused on how you sleep while having intercourse.
Even besides the extreme questions like that, how is it even a relationship when you’re living with your dom/sub/switch (s) and all you guys do is have sex or do sexual things every single second your together??? Where is the laying down and watching your favourite show together while you (or your sub) is tied up and you’re cutting them up or dripping hot candle wax on them? Where are the scenes where you put ankle cuffs/hand cuffs on your sub and paddle them/whip them/flog them/whatever? Where are the moments where your aftercare is being given a nice hot bath and massage? Or…does your dom/you not do aftercare? Damn, that’s fucked up. Coz aftercare is most definitely not sexual.
For the lifestyle and asexual side of BDSM… we very literally LIVE in the non-vanilla world. We live every second of our lives in this world and our day-to-day life consists of BDSM. Our houses have cages and floggers and restraints and other toys and fun stuff in them 24/7…sometimes there’s a sign on the door that says “Please don’t call 911 if you hear screaming: Session in progress.” Things like that.
This is our lives. Our WHOLE lives. Every second of every day and every second of every night. Even if we don’t live with our Dom(me)(s), they still control every second of every day and night by prior rules and commands and this and that and ofc there’s gonna be plenty of sessions when we actually have time to get together.
To give a specific example for those of you not getting this, my biggest/number one fet is micromanagement. My dom(me)(s) tend to give me rules I have to abide by in my day-to-day life (ie; wake up at this time, text me/kiss me at this moment when you wake up, eat a meal at this time, do this specific thing for 30 minutes, drink x bottles of water per every 24 hours, give me the standard update on your day at x:xx, take your medications at exactly x:xx, do not do x until x day/time, etc etc etc etc etc) and then there are actual restrictions/specifics (ie; eat this, this and this for x meal, say “[insert thing here]” to [name] during this thing that is happening, send me a picture with your collar on at x time today, get x amount of work done at this time, come see me for a session at x time for x amount of time, practice your knots for mistress and send me pictures, go to x place and buy x thing because you need it/i need it, if you don’t do this thing by this time you will be punished, etc etc etc) and then there is what I like to call “the board” which is where there is a dry erase board in our house or both our houses if we live separately in which she will write certain things and either send me a picture and have me write it on my board, too, or just expect me to check the board every day…and I will have to accomplish each of those tasks on top of the general rules and whatever sporadic commands she sends me throughout the day by the end of the day or a time she specifies. And she will normally just generally control everything: when I eat, what I eat, when I sleep, how long I sleep, when I wake up, when I call out of work when I’m sick, when I shower, how long I can shower, whether I take a hot or cold shower, what products I use for this and that, how I dress, what brand things I can get,…….etc etc etc….all things that make me happy that we have agreed upon before in our D/s contract….and all things that are reasonable and negotiable if a safe word is used that day…
Honestly, micromanagement is like having a life-coach that actually commands you to do this and that and doesn’t just suggest…and is there 24/7…always monitoring you…and actually controls your decisions instead of just attempts to influence them…and is a Domme…rather than a psych-professional. Therefore, your domme will generally do a much better job with micromanagement than a life coach ever could, tbh. (Speaking from experience.)
Another specific example, in case you STILL don’t get it, is speech restriction (which is probably a better/easier to understand example than micromanagement). You’re out with your domme (usually at a BDSM-related event/meet-up)…someone speaks to you…you have to look at your domme and get an eye contact command or hand command in order to get the okay to speak to them directly…or your domme will speak for you automatically. Or they will pre-dictate what you can and cannot say when given permission or without looking for permission. Stuff like that. There’s absolutely no sexual things regarding speech play. And most dommes give punishment that is pain-related…not sexual related. Or…just an adult-time-out. Lol. Those are fun, too.
But…Man, you REALLY came to the wrong brat sub to say something like I should avoid being collared…….Like, holy shit, you REALLY came to the wrong neighbourhood, friend. Haha. You obviously have absolutely NO idea who I am or my past or ANYTHING about me…like…WOW. You sound like someone who just came on my blog and sent me an ask without doing ANY research or having followed me for ANY amount of time prior to this…Just so you know…you really shouldn’t say something like this to people who are experts. Lololol. (Also, I’m sorry if you thought I would have a NSFW blog containing images of me, but uh…this kit is NOT one for posting pictures of himself…lol.)
I mean…you obviously have NO idea how many dom(me)(s) I have had…how many D/s relationships I have been in…that I have been a professional pain slut…that I have been actively involved in MAAAAAANY BDSM groups and am about to be joining a group in the place I just moved to…you seem to have NO idea how many times I have been collared (I have been collared quite a few more times than most subs have, considering how much I have moved states), how obscenely long I have been in the BDSM scene…etc etc etc.
Honey, I hate to tell you this, but I don’t need to go to the BDSM community…they come to me.
It’s just VERY hard to find a domme that can actually handle a brat sub. Coz this boy is fiesty af…and this boy happens to be the epitome of a brat sub. In general, majority of dom(me)s cannot handle brats properly. If it’s obviously you can’t handle me properly and do not want and intend to learn, I’m not gonna keep you around. I deserve a dom(me) who loves me enough to want to learn how to properly handle a brat if they do not know how already. And if they don’t know how and don’t want to learn and want me to change for them? Then that’s proof that not only are they are a horrible dom(me), but they are a shit person, too. So…why would I want to keep THAT around? Lolol. They shouldn’t change for me and I shouldn’t change for them. No one should change for anyone.
It’s not easy to handle a brat… and I will admit it’s not easy to handle someone as bratty as I am…But, if they really do desire to be my dom(me), then they will WANT to learn how to handle me and take me on. They will WANT the challenge of taming me.
Honestly, I probably won’t ever get back into the BDSM scene on tumblr or online in general, coz you’re right…most people are ignorant of this side of BDSM like you are (which just means they know nothing about it and make an ass of themselves with assumptions like this). But, hey, now you know! So…you’re no longer ignorant. And I’m happy that I could help to educate someone because more vanilla people and EVEN people in the BDSM world seem to not have a good grasp on this or really are ignorant and really do need someone to sit them down and explain it to them.
Also, I don’t really NEED to get into the online BDSM scene anywhere anymore coz I have moved to a place with a bigger BDSM scene than I have ever seen in my life in ANY of the cities I have ever lived in… Like, I AM AMAZED. And one of my roommates is in the group I am joining and has introduced me to MANY a BDSM member. Lol. So…I will most likely get collared from either someone in the group (coz…it’s a HUGE group…literally hundreds of people wowowow) or someone I just randomly meet. Like, hell, I met another brat sub who is a wolf pet in a hair salon I went to. Just…random as fuck. She was wearing a collar and I was like “Are you wearing that collar for aesthetic purposes….or are you actually collared?” And then she lit up and we had like a half hour long convo on the 50 shades of grey vanilla people who are getting into our scene and discovering what our scene really is and then being like OH MY GOD and backing out reaaaaaaaal fast….xD God, we laughed sooooo hard. I love her.
But…anyways, if you (or anyone else) has any questions or need me to clarify a little more on anything, just lemme know and I’ll try to clear the confusion up! But…if you just wanna deny all of our existence as a non-sexual BDSM community…you really need to not send me anymore asks because those are just going to take up my time for me to read and take up time for me to delete and ignore. Like…yeah, it won’t take up MUCH time, but it’ll still take up my time and that’s a slight annoyance in the moment of doing it, so please don’t do that to me. Lolol.
If anyone else in the asexual BDSM community wants to add anything, feel free to add onto this. Coz I’m half-asleep right now and have ambien in me so……tbh, none of this might make sense…I will check it in the morning (it’s about 9pm right now) to see if any of this came out coherently. Sorry, sorry.
ALSO…Idk whether you’re vanilla or not, but from just reading your last two posts, you sound like one of those really horny vanilla people. So …you may have just been ignorant from having never been in the scene. And if so, I seriously genuinely apologize for making the assumption that you knew anything about our scene already. I have never heard of a single vanilla person or a “yeah I’m kinky. pull my hair ;)” kinda vanilla person knowing about the intricacies of the different sides of BDSM culture. So… I really, really am sorry about making that assumption if you’re vanilla coz it kinda sounds like you might be. Fuck. My bad, fam.
OKAY UH
Honestly, I could go on and on but man…I’m fucking TIRED AS ALL HELL from hospital stuff last night, REALLY need to get on this homework, and I still have bronchitis. ;A; Ugh. I’m probably gonna lie down and finish up this Spock documentary on Netflix and then try to get some homework done before my ambien knocks me out. Will check back on tumblr either tomorrow or Tuesday! (Coz I have a FUCKTON of adulting to do tomorrow ahhhh!)
Bye from your friendly neighbourhood brat fox sub. ;p
EDIT: FUCK I FORGOT TO ANSWER THE FIRST TWO QUESTIONS! 1) No, I am absolutely not capable of being in any sort of sexual relationship. a) I am aseuxal, b) I have severe dysphoria when naked or sexually stimulated, c) nothing turns me on sexually, d) sexual stimulation of any kind hurts in a really bad way, e) I have seveeeeere af PTSD regarding sexual things, and f) I have really, really, REALLY bad vaginismus.2) Therapy for…..vaginismus or the PTSD? I have tried for PTSD. I have not tried for vagismus. I don’t think there actually is therapy for physical vaginismus, is there?? Also, the PTSD therapy didn’t work. At all. In fact, therapy is bullshit. None of it helps; none of it ever works. Therapy is a waste of time and money. Lol.

The simulated tests are designed after a thorough investigation, so that they must agree with the pattern and level of difficulty of that particular topic and students are given different strategies so that students can decide which is the best strategy for them. These days the ssc exams are being put online, we have launched a specially dedicated website to give them access to the online tests. Individual assessments: there are some students who need guidance and personal interaction to clear doubts and get solutions to their problems. Even the specialized career options available to them are informed. Our SSC Coaching classes in Chandigarh have separate four-hour doubt sessions every Saturday. Interaction with senior officers and successful students: to keep the spark on and resolve individual student doubts, regular interaction programs are organized inviting successful students and eminent officers. Here students have the opportunity to clarify their doubts about how to prepare and what real life is after completing the exam and what they are really looking for. Alchemy of the relationship: the biggest problem facing most students is that they barely have the opportunity to get guidance after their training period is over after 2-3 months. But normally it takes at least 6-8 months to complete the test. So, we introduced a new Teaching methodology by introducing this concept. In this way, once someone becomes our student, he will remain our student until he clears the exam and all resources are equally available to old and new students without distinction. Thin Content & SEO | How to Avoid a Google Thin Content Penalty
We live in a world of information overload. If 10 years ago it was hard to find content at all, now there’s way too much of it! Which one is good? Which one is bad? We don’t know.
While this subject is very complex, it’s clear that Google is attempting to solve these content issues in its search results. One of the biggest issues they’ve encountered in the digital marketing world is what they call thin content.
But what exactly is thin content? Should you worry about it? Can it affect your website’s SEO in a negative way? Well, thin content can get your site manually penalized but it can also sometimes send your website in Google’s omitted results. If you want to avoid these issues, keep reading!

  1. What Is Thin Content & How Does It Affect SEO?
Thin content is an OnPage SEO issue that has been defined by Google as content with no added value.
When you’re publishing content on your website and it doesn’t improve the quality of a search results page at least a little bit, you’re publishing thin content.
For a very dull example, when you search Google for a question such as “What color is the sky?” and there’s an article out there saying “The sky is blue!”, if you publish an article with the same answer you would be guilty of adding no value.
So does it mean that this article is thin content because there are other articles about thin content out there?
Well.. no. Why? Because I’m adding value to it. First, I’m adding my own opinion, which is crucial. Then, I’m trying to structure it as logically as possible, address as many important issues as I can and cover gaps which I have identified from other pieces.
Sometimes, you might not have something new to say, but you might have a better way of saying it. To go back to our example, you could say something like “The sky doesn’t really have a color but is perceived as blue by the human eye because of the way light scatters through the atmosphere.”
Of course, you would probably have to add at least another 1500 words to that to make it seem like it’s not thin. It’s true. Longer content tends to rank better in Google, with top positions averaging about 2000 words.
How your content should be to rank
Sometimes, you might add value through design or maybe even through a faster website. There are multiple ways through which you can add value. We’ll talk about them soon.
From the Google Webmaster Guidelines page we can extract 4 types of practices which are strictly related to content quality. However, they are not easy to define!
Automatically generated content: Simple. It’s content created by robots to replace regular content, written by humans. Don’t do it. But… some AI content marketing tools have become so advanced that it’s hard to distinguish between real and automatically generated content. Humans can write poorly too. Don’t expect a cheap freelancer who writes 1000 words for $1 to have good grammar and copy. A robot might be better. But theoretically, that’s against the rules.
Thin affiliate pages: If you’re publishing affiliate pages which don’t include reviews or opinions, you’re not providing any new value to the users compared to what the actual store is already providing on their sales page.
Scraped or copied content: The catch here is to have original content. If you don’t have original content, you shouldn’t be posting it to claim it’s yours. However, even when you don’t claim it’s yours, you can’t expect Google to rank it better than the original source. Maybe there can be a reason (better design, faster website) but, generally, nobody would say it’s fair. Scraping is a no no and Google really hates it.
Doorway pages: Doorway pages are pages created to target and rank for a variety of very similar queries. While this is bad in Google’s eyes, the search giant doesn’t provide an alternative to doorway pages. If you have to target 5-10 similar queries (let’s say if you’re doing local SEO for a client), you might pull something off with one page, but if you have to target thousands of similar queries, you won’t be able to do it. A national car rental service, for example, will always have pages which could be considered doorways.
If you want, you can listen to Matt Cutts’ explanation from this video.
youtube
As you can see, it all revolves around value. The content that you publish must have some value to the user. If it’s just there because you want traffic, then you’re doing it wrong.
But value can sometimes be hard to define. For some, their content might seem as the most valuable, while for others it might seem useless. For example, one might write “Plumbing services New York, $35 / hour, Phone number”. The other might write “The entire history of plumbing, How to do it yourself, Plumbing services New York, $35 / hour, Phone number.”
Which one is more relevant? Which one provides more value? It really depends on the user’s intent. If the user just wants a plumber, they don’t want to hear about all the history. They just want a phone number and a quick, good service.
However, what’s important to understand is that there is always a way to add value.
In the end, it’s the search engine that decides, but there are some guidelines you can follow to make sure Google sees your content as valuable. Keep reading and you’ll find out all about them. But first, let’s better understand why thin content is still an issue and how it actually affects search engine optimization.
1.1 Is Thin Content Still a Problem in 2019?
The thin content purge started on February 23, 2011 with the first Panda Update. At first, Google introduced the thin content penalty because many people were generating content automatically or were creating thousands of irrelevant pages.
The series of further updates were successful and many websites with low quality content got penalized or deranked. This pushed site owners to write better content.
Unfortunately, today this mostly translates to longer content. The more you write, the more value you can provide, right? We know it’s not necessarily the case, but as I’ve said, longer content does tend to rank better in Google. Be it because the content makes its way up there or because the search engine is biased towards it… it’s hard to tell.
But there’s also evidence that long form content gets more shares on social media. This can result in more backlinks, which translates to better rankings. So it’s not directly the fact that the content is long, but rather an indirect factor related to it.
It’s kind of ironic, as Google sometimes uses its answer boxes to give a very ‘thin’ answer to questions that might require more context to be well understood.
However, in 2019 it’s common SEO knowledge that content must be of high quality. The issue today shifts to the overload of content that is constantly being published. Everything is, at least to some extent, qualitative.
But it’s hard to get all the information from everywhere and you don’t always know which source to rely on or trust. That’s why content curation has been doing so well lately.
This manifests itself in other areas, especially where there’s a very tough competition, such as eCommerce.
1.2 How Does Thin Content Affect SEO?
Google wants to serve its users the best possible content it can. If Google doesn’t do that, then its users won’t return to Google and could classify it as a poor quality service. And that makes the search engine unhappy.
Google generally applies a manual action penalty to websites it considers to contain thin content. You will see it in the Google Search Console (former Google Webmaster Tools) and it looks like this:
However, your site can still be affected by thin content even if you don’t get a warning from Google in your Search Console account. That’s because you’re diluting your site’s value and burning through your crawl budget.
The problem that search engines have is that they constantly have to crawl a lot of pages. The more pages you give it to crawl, the more work it has to do.
If the pages the search engine crawls are not useful for the users, then Google will have a problem with wasting its time on your content.
1.3 Where Is Thin Content Found Most Often?
Thin content is found most of the time on bigger websites. For the sake of helping people that really need help, let’s exclude spammy affiliate websites and automated blogs from this list.
Big websites, like eCommerce stores, often have a hard time coming up with original, high quality content for all their pages, especially for thousands of product pages.
In the example above, you can see that although the Product Details section under the image is expanded, there’s no content there. This means that users don’t have any details at all about the dress. All they know is that it’s a dress, it’s black and it costs about $20.
This doesn’t look too bad when you’re looking as a human at a single page, but when you’re a search engine and take a look at thousands and thousands of pages just like this one, then you begin to see the issue.
The solution here is to add some copy. Think of what users want to know about your product. Make sure you add the details about everything they might want to know and make them easily accessible!
Sometimes, thin content makes its way into eCommerce sites unnoticed. For example, you might have a category page which hosts a single product. Compared to all your other categories or competitor websites, that can be seen as thin content.
  2. How to Identify Thin Content Pages
If we are referring merely to its size, then thin content can be easily identified using the cognitiveSEO Tool’s Site Audit.
  Did you know?
Identifying thin content is actually really easy with a tool like cognitiveSEO Site Audit. The tool has a Thin Content section where you can easily find the pages with issues.
It’s as simple as that! Once you have your list, you can export it and start adding some content to those pages. This will improve their chances to make it to the top of the search results.
However, you also want to take a look at the duplicate content section in the Site Audit tool. This can also lead to a lot of indexation & content issues.
Extremely similar pages can be “combined” using canonical tags. Sometimes it can be a good idea to remove them completely from the search engine results.
  3. How to Fix Thin Content Issues & Avoid a Google Penalty
Sometimes, you can fix thin content issues easily, especially if you get a manual penalty warning. At least if your website isn’t huge. If you have thousands of pages, it might take a while till you can fix them.
Here’ s a happy ending case from one of Doug Cunnington’s students:
youtube
However, the “penalty” can also come from the algorithm and you won’t even know it’s there because there is no warning. It’s not actually a penalty, it’s just the fact that Google won’t rank your pages because of their poor quality.
When that’s the case, it might not be as easy to get things fixed as in the video above.
In order to avoid getting these penalties, here’s a few things that you should consider when you write content.
3.1 Make sure your site looks legit
First of all, if your website looks shady, then you have a higher chance of getting a manual penalty on your website. If someone from Google reviews your website and decides it looks spammy at a first glance, they will be more likely to consider penalizing it.
To avoid this, make sure you:
Use an original template and customize it a little bit
Have a logo or some sort of original branding
Provide an about page and contact details
3.2 Add more content & avoid very similar titles
The best way to show Google that your pages are worth taking a look at is to not leave them empty. In 2019, I hope we all know that for good OnPage SEO we need to add a little bit more content.
Your pages should have at least 300 words of copy. Notice how I say copy, not words. If you’re there to sell, write copy. Even on an eCommerce product page.
If you’re not sure what to write about, you can always use the CognitiveSEO Keyword Tool & Content Assistant. It will give you ideas on what you should write on your pages to make them relevant for the query you want them to rank on.
Automatically generated titles can also quickly trigger Google’s alarms. If you review multiple products from the same brand and your titles are like this:
  Nike Air Max 520 Review
Nike Air Max 620 Review
Nike Air Max 720 Review
then you can see how it might be an issue. Do those articles provide any value or are they all the same except for one digit?
It’s important to have the keywords in your title, but you can also try to add some diversity to them. It’s not always very hard to do. A good example could be:
Nike Air Max 520 Review | Best bang for the buck
Nike Air Max 620 | A Comprehensive Review Regarding Comfort
Nike Air Max 720 | Review After 2 Weeks of Wearing Them at The Gym
But Adrian, I have an eCommerce site with over 2000 products, I can’t write original titles for all of them!
That’s why I said that content isn’t the only way you can provide value with. If you can’t change the titles and content, improve some other areas.
However, the truth is that there’s someone out there who does optimize and show love to all their titles, even if there are 2000 of them. So why shouldn’t they be rewarded for it?
Usually, very similar titles are a result of content duplication issues. If you have a product that comes in 100 different colors, you don’t necessarily need to have 100 different pages with 100 unique titles and copy. You can just make them 1 single page where users can select their color without having to go to another URL.
Combining pages can also be done via canonical tags, although it’s recommended to only keep this for duplicate content. Pages with different colors can count as duplicate content, as only one word is different, so the similarity is 99.9%.
Make sure that the pages that get canonicalized don’t provide organic search traffic. For example, if people search for “blue dress for ladies” then it’s a good idea to have a separate page that can directly rank for that query instead of canonicalizing it to the black version.
A proper faceted navigation can help you solve all these SEO issues.
  3.3 Don’t copy content
Copying content from other websites will definitely make your site look bad in Google’s eyes.
Again, this happens mostly on eCommerce websites, where editors get the descriptions directly from the producer’s official website. Many times they also duplicate pages in order to save time and just change a couple of words.
On the long run, this will definitely get you into duplicate content issues, which can become very hard to fix once they’re out of control. It will also tell Google that your site endorses competitors. By using their copy, you’re considering it valuable, right?
3.4 Web design, formatting & ads
Sometimes, you can identify gaps in web design or formatting. That’s not easy to do, as you’ll have to manually take a look at your competitor’s websites. Here are some questions you should ask yourself:
Are competitors presenting their information in an unpleasant manner? Do they have too many pop-ups, too many ads or very nasty designs?
Then that’s obviously where you can make a difference. This doesn’t give you the right not to have an original copy, but it might have a greater impact.
  Source: premiumcoding.com
3.5 Video, images, text, audio, etc.
Big, successful eCommerce businesses which have an entire community supporting them and backing them up have used this technique for a long time: video content.
This might work better in some niches, such as tech. In Romania, cel.ro has a very bad reputation with delivery and quality, yet it still has a decent amount of market share due to its strong video content marketing strategy.
If you want to improve the value of your page, make sure you add images, videos or whatever you think might better serve your user. If you’re a fashion store, images might be your priority, while if you’re an electronics store, the product specifications should be more visible instead.
  3.6 Deindex useless pages
Sometimes, when you have a lot of very similar pages that host thin content with no added value, the only viable solution is to remove those pages completely.
This can be done in a number of ways. However, the best ones are:
  Removing the content altogether
Using canonical tags to combine them
Using robots.txt & noindex
However, you’ll have to choose carefully which method you use. Remember, you don’t want to remove those pages with search demand from the search engines!
  Source: Moz.com
This can determine you to switch the focus from optimizing individual product pages to optimizing category pages.
  Conclusion
Thin content is definitely bad for your website. It’s always better to avoid an issue from the beginning than to have to fix it later on. This saves you both time and money.

However, you’ll have to know about these issues early on, before you even start setting up your website and content marketing strategy. Hopefully, this article helped you have a better understanding on the topic.

This can determine you to switch the focus from optimizing individual product pages to optimizing category pages.
  Conclusion
Thin content is definitely bad for your website. It’s always better to avoid an issue from the beginning than to have to fix it later on. This saves you both time and money.
However, you’ll have to know about these issues early on, before you even start setting up your website and content marketing strategy. Hopefully, this article helped you have a better understanding on the topic.
Have you ever faced thin content issues on your websites in your digital marketing journey? How do you identify it? And how did you solve these content issues? Let us know in the comments section below!

How to Update Your PHP Version to Keep in Line with WordPress Recommendations
When a WordPress website is loaded, it runs on code. Once upon a time, that code was strictly HTML. Now, it’s a few different things, typically CSS, HTML and JavaScript.
That’s the front-of-the-house, though. The waitstaff that all visitors see. Back-of-the-house runs a bit differently; there are different cooks in the kitchen, and they influence a little bit of everything.
When it comes to WordPress, the programming language PHP is what’s really running the show. You’ll find PHP in everything from your WordPress dashboard (back end) to your website page templates (front end). PHP is also in your plugins, your theme… basically, your website doesn’t exist without it.
What is PHP?
PHP is an open source, free-to-use programming language, and because it’s so accessible, it’s one of the most-used programming languages in web development (Facebook uses it, too).
Here’s how the back-of-the-house impacts the front-of-the-house: PHP essentially takes information from your database, packages it as CSS and HTML, and then creates your gorgeous site for visitors to see.
PHP exists on the server end of things. To compare, something like JavaScript is processed on the client-side of the website, in the browser when someone visits your site. If a website problem is due to a PHP issue, you have to be the one to fix it (or your host does, at least) – even a super fast computer can’t quickly process PHP from a slow server.
The moral: PHP is pretty damn important, especially if you have a WordPress site – at least a WordPress site that you want to perform well.
PHP Requires Updates
Since PHP is central to WordPress, it’s always being tweaked and improved – there have been a lot of versions over the years. As of the writing of this article, you should have at least version 7.0, though 7.3 is the most recent version. By upgrading, you’ll access the newest PHP version, which also means the fastest, safest and just plain better version.

The biggest changes with PHP 7 are that it’s approximately twice as fast as the last version, PHP 5.6; code is easier to read and support; script problems are resolved smoothly; and its applications are more difficult to hack.
P.S. If you continue using an older PHP version, you won’t be able to access active support any longer, and security support will eventually run out, too. Translation: your website won’t be safe and you won’t be able to get any help with it should something go wrong.
Let’s Check Your WordPress PHP Version
Before you update your PHP, find out if you even need to by determining the PHP version you have right now. There are two simple ways to do this:
Check With Your Host
This is what I did. Actually, what I technically did was email DreamHost to say, “Umm, my website seems to hate me lately.” And they were like, “Yeah, it’s mad at you for having out-of-date PHP.”
If you can’t get a hold of your host’s customer service, you can probably check the version yourself. Look for something like “PHP Settings” or “PHP Version,” or “Manage Domains.”
In DreamHost, you can find out the version on the Manage Domains page.
Use a PHP Version Plugin
You can use a plugin like Display PHP Version, which is possibly the easiest thing I’ve ever done when it comes to WordPress.
You just install, activate and then see the version you’re using in the At a Glance section on the Dashboard:
Is it Time to Upgrade Your PHP Version?
You found out the worst news possible and it’s time to upgrade your PHP. I’m going to assume your host will let you upgrade – if they don’t, it’s time to break up with them.
It’s always a little risky to upgrade because it’s possible that your website contains code that the new PHP version won’t be compatible with. If that happens, some or all of your website could behave strangely post-upgrade.
Let’s go over how to prevent that from happening.
You can do this on your live website, but an even safer solution is to make a local copy of your website and go through the process on that first as a test run.
Upgrade Everything (but Backup First)
Since PHP issues usually have to do with old code, it’s best to upgrade your plugins, theme and WordPress version before you do anything else. Also, you probably know this already, but you should always backup your site before updating anything.
We’ve written a lot about backing up your WordPress site:

Double-Check Compatibility
Upgrading everything that’s out-of-date is a good first step, but it’s not foolproof. Luckily, they make a plugin for that. (There’s also the PHP Compatibility Checker from WP Engine, but it’s untested with recent WordPress versions.)
Install, activate, click the SG Optimizer link in the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, then click on Environment Optimization. Partway down the page, you’ll see the recommended PHP upgrade and a link to “Check Compatibility.”
It took under 10 minutes (for my simple website, at least), and then I get this notice, so it looks like I’m good to go:
Upgrade Your PHP
Guys, it’s time to take the plunge.
There are a few ways to upgrade your PHP. Some are pretty advanced, like using SSH commands – but if you know how to do that, then you don’t need me or this article.
Instead, we’ll do this the easy way – by using that hosting service I get billed for every month. As you know, I use DreamHost – here are the directions for upgrading your PHP through them. If you use another host, you shouldn’t have trouble finding their directions, and it’s likely not going to be too different from how I’ll upgrade mine.
I go to Manage Domains, click “Edit” near the one I need to upgrade, then find the PHP upgrade options under Web Options.
DreamHost suggests PHP 7.2, so that’s the one I choose. Then I save the changes and get a notice that the changes should take place in about 10 minutes. I go back to WordPress, clear the cache and the PHP is updated – two minutes, tops.
Make Sure Everything Looks Right and Functions Correctly
Even if you’ve done your due diligence, websites are known to be imperfect. Once your PHP is updated, head over to your site to check it all out. Click each page, test the features and plugins, etc.
Wrapping Up
Upgrading your PHP version is part of WordPress best practices, just like upgrading your plugins and theme. That said, I have had “update PHP on my calendar for a month. Maybe two months. Every Monday, I move the date. “Nah, next Monday.” Had I known how simple it would be, I wouldn’t have dreaded it so much. And isn’t that applicable to so many things, WordPress and beyond? The safety and performance of your website rely on these small tasks – keep on top of them, get them over with and get on with creating content people love.
