¿Harto de las huelgas? ¡Pide un referéndum de iniciativa ciudadana!

No son las protestas ni el gobierno los que deciden, ¡son los ciudadanos!

Las huelgas y las revoluciones no siempre conducen a la democracia. A veces incluso conducen a la dictadura. Esto se describe en Rebelión en la granja, de George Orwell. Otro ejemplo son las revoluciones de la Primavera Árabe. Cuidado con los grandes libertadores, el pueblo debe actuar por sí mismo.

Es mejor pedir más democracia con un referéndum de iniciativa popular que ir a la huelga, que cuesta dinero a los huelguistas y los pone en peligro ante la represión. La desobediencia cívica sólo permite aislarse del resto del pueblo y acabar en la cárcel.

Sería mejor tener ciudadanos organizados donde todos puedan expresar sus ideas y mejorar las situaciones escuchando a todos. Un nuevo tipo de sindicato permitiría crear estructuras para que los ciudadanos puedan estar informados y estar al servicio de los trabajadores y crear estructuras para recoger las opiniones y los votos de los ciudadanos.

Los boicots y las huelgas de trabajo a reglamento funcionan. Las huelgas sólo funcionan si la policía y el ejército están del lado de la democracia directa, del pueblo.

i just started reading a book (it’s actually two books combined) made by Esquirol, a french psychiatrist who, in 1838 decided to categorise the mental illnesses of an asylum in said book. and, if my literature manual is correct it comes with ILLUSTRATIONS (for example: “drawing of a monomaniac” and it’s just. a guy laying in a bed. i am not joking. it was in the literature manual)

Hewitt works to answer several questions in this book, including how the asylum influenced bourgeois gender during the 19th century, how madness influenced gender norms, and the role of gender in the origins of psychiatry, as impacted by the discipline’s founders, Philippe Pinel and Jean-Etineene Dominique Esquirol. The author's intervention in history is not a bottom-up process as she argues, despite being partially from the patient’s perspective, but it rather allows mental patients to engage in conversations about insanity as “active and necessary participants."
