So I've been a horror rpg nerd for like YEARS and if you're new and want to get into it, it might be hard to know where to start (in light of my last post)

These are my general recommendations, I also recommend OFF and Ao Oni fangames as well. There's a lot of creativity in some of the fangames. This is BY FAR, not the definitive rpg horror game rec list, but I think I have most of the popular ones.

wait im so fucking smart ok hold on so getens quirk name. ice ply i was trying to figure out what all this business was with the frost in his cell in 387 so i was like okay let me look at the kanji 氷操 (hyoso) which, when translated straightforward, is "ice manipulation" which like, ok duh however. however. i am on to horikoshis little tricks so i look up the kanji separately to look for specific connotations and the -so part, Misao, really doesnt mean "manipulation/operation/control" as its main meaning. its much more heavily associated with faith/honor/chastity/etc and im like 🤔 because if hes picking a kanji that is an unusual choice for the meaning then there must be something else

so i decide to google hyoso, and, lo and behold hyoso (diff kanji) is the art of mounting wall scrolls for preservation and decorative purposes. very heavily associated with and originating in hanging up buddhist writings and sutras. and , as we know, geten means apocrypha, a religious text of unknown origin and unknown veracity, and in the context of buddhism, non-buddhist writings especially those from Confucianism.

and buddhism and confucianism, while syncretically coexisting, are at odds philosophically in a really interesting way: buddhism is about personal enlightenment (awakening, even), inner peace, internal progress, and the release of suffering through it : confucianism is about how to achieve the pinnacle of humanity through strict social hierarchy, virtues, and order.

annnnnnnnnnd if we go back to what weve seen, geten is very different from the personal, internal, self-focused enlightenment and freedom that the meta liberation army promises and the teachings of trumpet, re-destro, curious, etc-- instead, he advocates for one participating in this new, virtuous society to achieve the pinnacle for living. so, you know, h-

took another unintentional tumblr hiatus because i've been extremely busy doing irl activism for most of the past year, but especially over the past 6 months. it has been really stressful and scary at times, and i'm not really cut out for it at all, but i've been trying to do my best to learn on the job so to speak. i can't talk too much about that here though lol so my life probably won't seem that exciting just from reading this post fgkjhdh

some other life updates:

finished reading the tanka book in Japanese! i wrote several poems, including one for Hyper Misao's produce show (and yes she did in fact see my poems on twitter!)

started learning Palestinian Arabic with a few local Palestinian friends after seeing this post on twitter! i'm still continuing to study Spanish and Japanese, though i've scaled back a bit on those because i'm pretty solidly intermediate in both so i can maintain them just by reading and listening to media in the language. Arabic was always kind of vaguely the third language i wanted to learn after Spanish and Japanese (i think i listed it in every single "if you could instantly learn 5 languages, what would they be?" posts on here lol), and so i ended up going for it when the opportunity to learn it presented itself. no idea how far i'll get, but even knowing a little bit has been very rewarding

our Arabic lessons are currently on hold due to irl stuff on our end, and i worry every day that we won't be able to resume them due to the West Bank being invaded...

started playing my first VN, Umineko: When They Cry, after being a lifelong hater of the medium lol. i'm playing it in Japanese along with our book club here on the WK forum

had several extremely bad depressive episodes and strongly considered killing myself. the only thing that has really stopped me so far is knowing that Palestine needs me to be alive rn

almost quit watching pro wrestling, translating TJPW, and studying Japanese entirely. i had made up my mind to retire as a fan translator (and as a pro wrestling fan, period) after Nao Kakuta's retirement, but then a few days before that show i watched DDT Wrestle Peter Pan, and Kota Ibushi came back to DDT for the first time in like eight years, and i cried my eyes out and knew i couldn't quit yet

reached my TJPW translation account's two year debut anniversary

i'm going to try to be around a bit more going forward, and will try to go back and catch up on at least some of the stuff i missed (i still have a bunch of old posts from 2023 left to read lol)

How Tomoe continued to surpass Kaoru in popularity until 2022, causing disappointment to the author

Throughout the history of Rurouni Kenshin, Tomoe has remained one of the most polarizing characters – either adored or vehemently disliked – but predominantly adored.

Now, let's delve into some context. Rurouni Kenshin features some female characters with less-than-stellar development. This isn't a critique exclusive to Rurouni Kenshin; it has been a prevailing trend in Shounen mangas overall. By this point, readers are acquainted with Kaoru as a main character and Kenshin's primary love interest. As the Remembrance Arc concludes, Tomoe evolves into a character that remains enigmatic, not fully understood by the author, the protagonist, or the readers, with only fragments to piece together.

Now, these 14 chapters form the cherished cornerstone of the entire franchise - Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal, one of the most acclaimed masterpieces in the anime world. Kazuhiro Furuhashi and Masashi Sogo skillfully translate these chapters into a heartbreakingly beautiful narrative on screen.

In contrast, Rurouni Kenshin: The Final, achieved a lower performance, spending 3 weeks in the top 10 films and attaining top 10 status in 17 countries.

In the live-action character popularity rankings, Arimura Kasumi's portrayal of Tomoe holds the impressive 4th position, reaffirming her status as the most beloved female character, once again outshining the female lead character.

Telling stories through clothes, with this character from Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin) called Misao Makimachi. A ninja girl who is in love with her guardian, Aoshi, who took care of her when she was young. In the story I imagined, after the event of the anime/manga, she went away for a supposed "dance" training and came back to her home. That's where the story would start in my mind.

Outfit 1: Returning home and reuniting with everyone at her home, but especially her love, Aoshi.

Outfit 2: Stage outfit, where she plays a girl pretending to be boy in a cross dressing outfit.

Outfit 3: The next stage outfit, where the boy transforms into her true self, a beautiful young woman who fell in love.

Outfit 4: The final stage outfit, where the woman was betrayed and became a demon.

Outfit 5: Wedding dress, where Misao married her love after he proposed to her. 

Outfit 6: Her regular clothing when she's at home after she was married, still maintaining her upbeat and almost carefree personality.

Outfit 7: This is where things start to get darker for her. Funeral outfit, after another beloved guardian of hers, Okina, passed away due to illness.

Outfit 8: Farewell, after Aoshi was assigned to a mission that will make him separate from Misao for a long time, even though she was at a time where she needed him the most.

Outfit 9: Savior. Misao follows her husband and saves him from dying after he got hurt trying to apprehend a suspect. Finally see the result of her "training".

Outfit 10: Together. Reuniting with her husband but under a bitter feeling, he apologizes and she accepts reluctantly, and they finally spent the night together as a couple after so long being married.

Outfit 11: Training, where Misao requests to spar with Aoshi in her training session and she shows off the result of her training, both through her body physique and her fighting skills.

Outfit 12: Her mission outfit, where she teams up with Aoshi to finish his mission in Tokyo. Combined with her old ninja outfit from the past.

Outfit 13: Recovery. Misao got hurt and had to spend time to recover but she managed to heal up which made Aoshi glad.

Outfit 14: Going home, back to Kyoto with her husband, Aoshi, to live the rest of their lives together in peace and happiness.

Wow. Holy crap. I had no idea Tiny Bunny branched off this much and has so many endings.

Gonna get to it. I was replaying Misao (the HD remaster) earlier and then tried to get all trading cards for Stigmatized Property (sadly didn't get all of them although I got all the achievements).

Yes. I've been gaming a lot while recovering. I feel like crap and almost puked earlier cos all food makes my tummy crazy 😭🤢.

Anyways I highly recommend Tiny Bunny. The art is gorgeous, the story is eerie and interesting especially since it can branch off into something totally different (making it a surprise) and the game is huge.

I had bought the game years ago and my dumbass kinda forgot I had it cos I went on to play games like Resident Evil Village and a bunch of Final Fantasy etc (and then there was Genshin Impact too)

But recently I went to my steam library and I was delighted at how absolutely good Tiny Bunny is.

Gonna probably play it the rest of the night, lol. See how much the story changes with my choices. 😍

I know the game ain't fully complete yet and the devs are still working on the next chapter so I wish upon them the best of muses and luck. This game is too good.

I'm curious as to how you see Zero and Hiro's relationship. Did they ever date? Did Zero have a crush on Hiro? Did Hiro have a crush on him?

Did he ever meet big brother Taka'Aki or childhood friend Yamamura Misao?

What kinds of stories about his precious partner does Zero tell Kaito?

Assuming Kaito and Hiro manage to meet would they get along?

Is a HiroRei coparenting situation possible?

Or polyamory including Kaito?

1. Zero and Hiro are best friends. They might've had crushes on each other but weren't willing to risk their friendship over it.

2. Zero canonically has met Takaki, Hiro's brother. Not sure about Yamamura... but maybe.

3. Zero does tell Kaito the happy memories he has of Hiro... especially Hiro teaching him how to play the guitar and how to cook.

4. If they manage to meet in another life, they'd probably get along fine. Hiro would feel like he's dealing with Zero all over again, but... he knows how to handle that.

5. Hiro and Rei coparenting is yes. Polyamory with Kaito... maybe. It depends on how comfortable Kaito is with them. (Personally, yes! Yes to both!)
