Kremy was actually a bit terrified of telling Gideon he's gay. He didn't have, like, the best experience with coming out to people. Especially back when he was still in school, teenagers can be mean. So for the first year or so of their friendship, he just remained in the closet.

But then Gideon was worried that Kremy was sad about not getting any attention from women so he tried to wingman him. A lot. Every town. Instead of just picking up women for himself he was sending them Kremy's way.

Kremy wanted to die in a hole, the amount of embarrassing conversations with women like "oh it's not you, I'm just not looking for that right now" "ohh that's so nice of you but I had some other plans" "ohhhhh...noo...thank yooou.." was driving him fucking crazy. It was driving Gideon crazy. I mean Kremy must have a really specific type.

Finally Kremy just had enough, and evidently a lot to drink so he would hopefully not remember anything hurtful, and he sat Gideon down and told him that he very much was not into women.

Gideon, also an appreciator of men, then offered to find Kremy a nice man to sleep with instead.

A very stressed, flustered, and firm "NO." Led to the end of that whole situation.

Gideon: Oh, to be a bored Prince who keeps rejecting marriage proposals due to being secretly in love with the cute gardener.

Kremy: Oh, to be a cute gardener who secretly places roses in the prince’s room because he is in love with him.

Twig: Oh, to be the palace guard who discreetly helps to boost the cute gardener up the wall for his secret deliveries in the middle of the night.

Frost: Oh, to be the prince’s best friend witnessing the two fools dance around each other while knowing damn well that the two like each other.

Gricko: Oh, to be the noble suitor from another royal family who comes to know of their love instantly and plans an entire plan to get them their happy ending.

Torbek: Oh, to be a medieval peasant who knows nothing about the prince’s personal life and who dies of dysentery at age 23.

It actually went from unruly god-like human venturing the underground, a ghost boy that cause a scene unintentionally in his hometown, and dnd of a bunch of fruity men who keep making unnecessary shitty deals (poor bastards don’t got a single brain cell)

Now that I think about it, these two kids would be the ones to save his ass. How embarrassing that he has literal children bailing him and his husband Kremy out of danger

Okay, I’ve slept, and I wanna share how I imagine some of the LOA characters (specifically from EOM, Icebound, and OUAW) Smell like, bc I’m obsessed with that for some reason. Not including Twig or Daisy bc those are NPCs

Long post below. Beware.

Minor spoilers for EOM, but nothing too bad

[Edge of Midnight]

Marius: Marius is the only one whose scent changes slightly between his metamorphosis. Pre-Metamorphosis, he smells slightly metallic due to his armor, has a fairly strong musky outdoors smell, and an underlying scent of roses. Post-Metamorphosis, his musk has changed ever so slightly to be more “sultry” (the way colognes and men’s soaps market the musky smell), the scent of roses is more prominent now, and he has an underlying scent of iron (from blood, not armor)

Lethica: Lethica, for some reason, I associate with the smell of petrichor (rain) and licorice. I’m not sure why, possibly because of her color palette, but I do. Although, I do imagine she also has an underlying scent of roses, because of her feelings for Marius, and how The Duchess has clearly taken note of them

Jericho: Jericho is interesting. Jericho, being a scarecrow, smells roughly how you’d imagine a scarecrow would smell like. He smells like dirt, wheat, old cloth, yes, but he also smells metallic, woodsy, and there’s a trace of sulfur and brimstone (ik those are the same thing, but my mind pictures them to be two different smells for some reason)

Briggsy and Farryn: for the sake of brevity, I’m combining these two together, since they smell fairly similar. They both smell of rot and decay, however Briggsy moreso smells like a mixture of a rotting crocodile and a rotting fish, whereas Farryn smells more like moss and rotting plant life.

Yorgrim: Yorgrim smells like dirt—specifically freshly dug dirt. He also smells faintly of limestone, due to the gravestone on his back. I’d also argue that he smells like The Mists, but idk how to describe that smell.

[Icebound]

Barnabos, Jornir, and Skrimm: again, combining them for the sake of brevity. They all smell strongly of their natural musks, but Barnabos also smells like fish and low tide; Jornir smells like wet fur and wood; and Skrimm smells like alcohol (tho less-so now) and dirt

Taishen: Taishen smells of cinnamon, clove, sage, nutmeg, cardamom, etc. He smells essentially like chai. However he also smells faintly of fire. Idk how else to say this, he smells like a hot cup of tea on a winter morning. I just. Idk what else you want from me.

Queenie: Queenie, I picture, smells like flowers (daisies, daffodils, etc), and honey. Though she also has a fairly strong smell of wet fur and the outdoors.

[Once Upon A Witchlight]

Torbek: Torbek smells like a dumpster and wet fur. I. Idk what else you want from me. He also smells of Witchlight, but I don’t know how that would smell like other than Magic.

Gricko: Gricko smells like the outdoors, and like he spends his every waking moment with an animal, who also spends all her time outdoors.

Frost: Frost smells like ink, old parchment, old books, etc. he also smells of sage, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. Basically, imagine drinking a cup of tea in an old library, and you’ve got Frost’s scent. Tho he does smell faintly animal-like, but that’s partly because he’s a Tabaxi, and mostly because he spends all his time with Gricko and Hootsie

Gideon: Gideon smells also of the outdoors, but in a different way. He smells like burning wood, like his cigars, like ashes, like, well, fire. He smells faintly of oil and metal, as well, and there’s an underlying scent of coal. There is also an underlying scent of cigarettes and Kremy’s perfume, however.

Kremy: Kremy smells of cigarettes, perfume (which, idk exactly how his perfume would smell like, but I imagine he would wear one that makes him smell rich), of a freshly pressed and freshly tailored suit. He also smells faintly of swamp water (or water in general), and however you’d imagine an alligator to smell like, idk. There’s also an underlying scent of cigars, oil, and fire, however.

ITS COALECROUX LATE NIGHT THOUGHTS TIME

i always see scenes / mentions of kremy and gideon kissing in fanwork and i can suspend disbelief / enjoy it regardless but when it comes to what i create it kinda bugs me? i tend to have this nagging thought in the back of my head — alligators don’t really have lips (as far as i know?) and kremy’s long snout has to be at least somewhat uncomfortable to kiss as someone w/ a human head

in other words its not really something id like to include in what i make

so i raise you this: every single other way to touch

im talking holding hands (its ironic. ironic itch scratching), cuddling (IRONICALLY), standing as close as possible to one another, doing the mischievous laugh thing, elbowing, brushing dust / soot out of each other’s clothes, placing a hand on the other, literally taking every opportunity to touch even it’s just a graze, etc

please please add on to this list if you’d like i need fuel for the coalecroux machine that is my brain

(extra points if all of this is without them realizing that’s what they’re doing. theyre not the smartest men in the feywild)

I know it was the 4th episode so they didn't get that deep or introspective about it but do u think that the ouaw crew seeing their younger selves messed them up a bit. Can you imagine looking your younger self in the face...before any major life events, before the trauma. Living normal lives, what a thought. Perhaps they'd wish they could be that again, but then again, they wouldn't have met their friends if they hadn't gone through what they did. Still, it's nice to imagine maybe a world where you all were rambunctious tweens who cared a little less and felt a little better about everything. No scars, no bad deals, no separation. A group of friends against the world, in a reality where that was actually metaphorical.

Ever since his captivity, Gideon has attempted to disconnect his life before captivity to now. You could say he has his happy memories before his capture, but now chooses not to remember them. he still can should he choose to think about it, but the thought of his comfortable (if you could call a farmlife comfortable) life before everything, his home, his personal possessions that were few, his Pa... Its too painful for him to remember those now. The reality is, they're gone. They're long gone. And a part of him is long gone too.

Why else would you think Gricko mentioning his Pa makes him snappy and bitter? It's like reopening a deep wound, and it hurts. It hurts a fuck ton.

The winter season doesn't only affect Kremy it also affects Gideon. Without fail every single time the temperature drops past 30°F, he gets a fever. His body just cannot handle the cold for some reason. People assume he'd tolerate the cold better and yeah it's easier for him to tolerate cold tempatures. But for some reason his immune system freaks out when it gets too cold.

Which means more often than not in the middle of winter Kremy and Gideon are both sick. So they might as well be miserable together and give themselves company.

Also I completely made this up I don't actually know if Fire Genasi work like this, but! Fire Genasi's have higher temperatures than other humanoids. So when they have a fever, it's extremely high compared to other humanoids. In fact a high temperature fever for fire genasis can be lethal. If they reach a tempature above 290° degrees they need to be admitted into an emergency room to bring down the fever before they die from a severe heat stroke.

I bring this up because one year that actually happened to Gideon. It was gradual but when it did get that high it scared everyone and he ended up in the hospital overnight. He lived. It was definitely not the worst night of his life and not his first near death experience. But it was definitely the most annoying one he's expierenced.

I imagine that when Gideon was silently watching the snake couple argue, I can just picture him doing the awkward sit-down thing you do when you’re at someone’s house and two people suddenly start arguing, and you just have to silently sit there and watch

Like, you cannot tell me this man wasn’t sitting criss-cross applesauce, with his hands in his lap (like how teachers make little kids sit during gym class), silently watching as the Snake-Snakes argued.
