When my partner comes home I am usually in the same spot in bed. Right where he left me.
The thought makes me want to cry. But it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter that I can't really leave the house alone. It doesn't matter that I spend the majority of my life in bed.
I am working on my projects today while he is doing something he enjoys. I planted cantaloupe seeds in my garden. I am rearranging our kitchen. I am going to work on a story that I am really excited about.
He is going to put my new shower chair together later. We will make dinner together and listen to our current audiobook. Life is good.
It's fine.
#chronic pain#disability#thoughts#he will take me anywhere I want to go but it isn't about that#it is about my limited ability and how difficult it is for me to do anythingggg#especially independently#and that hurts sometimes#but life goes on

okay but literally what if buck and tommy end up together? like what if we get to see them moving in together or saying i love you for the first time or getting engaged or getting married? what if we get to see buck having a husband? literally what then...
#can i be honest the likleihood of bucktommy lasting to me is hard to figure out for me. i think some people saying bucktommy bonessssss#or whatever are saying it for the wrong reasons but there is truth to the idea that there is a very strong possibility that it doesnt last#longer than a season#not cause of buddie. just cause bad writing. this isnt a show where characters can really move forward a lot so#with bucks love interests especially they dont stick around and i am afraid we're gonna keep buck in that revolving door of love interests#with no end point. which is why i feel like some of those ppl should stfu about “god i hope they break up 😡” cause like.#are you sure? do you want that? no no not for you ship i mean like for this character completely independent of that ship. do you want that?#does that better his character in any way? does that further any development INDEPENDENTLY of the ship you want to happen?#okay rant over but like !!!!! what if it happens?? what if we get to see buck be happy and flourish in a relationship???#what then#bucktommy#firefly tag

Why we don’t like it when children hit us back
To all the children who have ever been told to “respect” someone that hated them.
March 21, 2023
Even those of us that are disturbed by the thought of how widespread corporal punishment still is in all ranks of society are uncomfortable at the idea of a child defending themself using violence against their oppressors and abusers. A child who hits back proves that the adults “were right all along,” that their violence was justified. Even as they would cheer an adult victim for defending themself fiercely.
Even those “child rights advocates” imagine the right child victim as one who takes it without ever stopping to love “its” owners. Tear-stained and afraid, the child is too innocent to be hit in a guilt-free manner. No one likes to imagine the Brat as Victim—the child who does, according to adultist logic, deserve being hit, because they follow their desires, because they walk the world with their head high, because they talk back, because they are loud, because they are unapologetically here, and resistant to being cast in the role of guest of a world that is just not made for them.
If we are against corporal punishment, the brat is our gotcha, the proof that it is actually not that much of an injustice. The brat unsettles us, so much that the “bad seed” is a stock character in horror, a genre that is much permeated by the adult gaze (defined as “the way children are viewed, represented and portrayed by adults; and finally society’s conception of children and the way this is perpetuated within institutions, and inherent in all interactions with children”), where the adult fear for the subversion of the structures that keep children under control is very much represented.
It might be very well true that the Brat has something unnatural and sinister about them in this world, as they are at constant war with everything that has ever been created, since everything that has been created has been built with the purpose of subjugating them. This is why it feels unnatural to watch a child hitting back instead of cowering. We feel like it’s not right. We feel like history is staring back at us, and all the horror we felt at any rebel and wayward child who has ever lived, we are feeling right now for that reject of the construct of “childhood innocence.” The child who hits back is at such clash with our construction of childhood because we defined violence in all of its forms as the province of the adult, especially the adult in authority.
The adult has an explicit sanction by the state to do violence to the child, while the child has both a social and legal prohibition to even think of defending themself with their fists. Legislation such as “parent-child tort immunity” makes this clear. The adult’s designed place is as the one who hits, and has a right and even an encouragement to do so, the one who acts, as the person. The child’s designed place is as the one who gets hit, and has an obligation to accept that, as the one who suffers acts, as the object. When a child forcibly breaks out of their place, they are reversing the supposed “natural order” in a radical way.
This is why, for the youth liberationist, there should be nothing more beautiful to witness that the child who snaps. We have an unique horror for parricide, and a terrible indifference at the 450 children murdered every year by their parents in just the USA, without even mentioning all the indirect suicides caused by parental abuse. As a Psychology Today article about so-called “parricide” puts it:
Unlike adults who kill their parents, teenagers become parricide offenders when conditions in the home are intolerable but their alternatives are limited. Unlike adults, kids cannot simply leave. The law has made it a crime for young people to run away. Juveniles who commit parricide usually do consider running away, but many do not know any place where they can seek refuge. Those who do run are generally picked up and returned home, or go back on their own: Surviving on the streets is hardly a realistic alternative for youths with meager financial resources, limited education, and few skills.
By far, the severely abused child is the most frequently encountered type of offender. According to Paul Mones, a Los Angeles attorney who specializes in defending adolescent parricide offenders, more than 90 percent have been abused by their parents. In-depth portraits of such youths have frequently shown that they killed because they could no longer tolerate conditions at home. These children were psychologically abused by one or both parents and often suffered physical, sexual, and verbal abuse as well—and witnessed it given to others in the household. They did not typically have histories of severe mental illness or of serious and extensive delinquent behavior. They were not criminally sophisticated. For them, the killings represented an act of desperation—the only way out of a family situation they could no longer endure.
- Heide, Why Kids Kill Parents, 1992.
Despite these being the most frequent conditions of “parricide,” it still brings unique disgust to think about it for most people. The sympathy extended to murdering parents is never extended even to the most desperate child, who chose to kill to not be killed. They chose to stop enduring silently, and that was their greatest crime; that is the crime of the child who hits back. Hell, children aren’t even supposed to talk back. They are not supposed to be anything but grateful for the miserable pieces of space that adults carve out in a world hostile to children for them to live following adult rules. It isn’t rare for children to notice the adult monopoly on violence and force when they interact with figures like teachers, and the way they use words like “respect.” In fact, this social dynamic has been noticed quite often:
Sometimes people use “respect” to mean “treating someone like a person” and sometimes they use “respect” to mean “treating someone like an authority” and sometimes people who are used to being treated like an authority say “if you won’t respect me I won’t respect you” and they mean “if you won’t treat me like an authority I won’t treat you like a person” and they think they’re being fair but they aren’t, and it’s not okay.
But it has received almost no condemnation in the public eye. No voices have raised to contrast the adult monopoly on violence towards child bodies and child minds. No voices have raised to praise the child who hits back. Because they do deserve praise. Because the child who sets their foot down and says this belongs to me, even when it’s something like their own body that they are claiming, is committing one of the most serious crimes against adult society, who wants them dispossessed.

Hiiii. My apartment will accept my application but they want two months of a deposit upfront by Wednesday, and because I've had to do repairs on my car that's stretching my money tight. So I am again bumping my Kofi (ko-fi.com/rosebijoumme) and making mention that I am willing to short fanfic writing commissions of properties I am familiar with (say, 500 words for $15). If you appreciate the funny words I say, drawings, or my research posts about Egypt, helping me out with this is a nice way to express that. I do hate to rattle my tincan but they want around $90 dollars more than I have on hand, and I do need gas back and forth until my next check on December (which is often around 150-200$, it's been on the lower side lately and having to pay so much is why I'm moving).
#cipher talk#Cars are an economic drain. Ultimately it's good for my independence that I was talked into this but jfc#I had a lot of savings before this damn thing that have gone poof especially with my mom begging me for money so often#I can probably come up with the total but like I said. Money is tight#Ideally next month will be better bc I won't have to pay 500+ on a car repair or give out money to my mom because I'll just tell her no#And cite those whole problem as to why

I'm usually the first one to point out the big corporations and i'm even taking part of the Hybe boycott so I can't believe I'm writing this but... I really don't think there's anything Hybe can do right now for Yoongi that won't make it worse, especially if they don't have Yoongi's approval and judging by his latest letter that broke my heart, I think he would refuse any aggressive help from Hybe. And if they can't be aggressive, anything less would be used as munition against him, the big star protected by the big corporation when the whole point is that he's just human and shouldn't be facing further consequences for being famous.
This is why, even though I usually boycott Hybe, I was all onboard for the charting of Yoongi's songs, unlike other times when armys were charting songs to show Hybe they were mad (which makes no sense half the time).
I think charting Yoongi's songs right now is the most efficient way to achieve the only goal that should matter: reassure Yoongi that his fans are still there, still see him as a part of BTS that can never be taken away, and forgave him the moment he asked for forgiveness in that first post because they know it does not warrant any further punishment.
To sing back his lyrics to him because they reflect what is happening right now, because he needs to hear it and believe it.
Right now, the most important thing is to make sure Yoongi forgives himself for what he thinks he did (damage the members and BTS's name, which is not true), and if that means Hybe gets some money from that because we are streaming, so be it.
#yoongi#min yoongi#suga#agust d#bangtan#bts#this is a tough opinion that i have seen nobody express#because armys are usually either strict boycott or strict anti boycott#and have been fighting on this issue#when i think this particular circumstance does warrant a lot more nuance#hybe#bh#big hit#i say hybe but we gotta remember hybe does not work like sm or jyp#big hit especially is very independant to hybe#and yoongi especially has a lot of power in BH i think he has the most shares in that company#he's not just an artist#what he thinks and what he wants out of BH will be reflected and i think in this case he'll let his tendency to care for it by himself#overshadow the help he could receive

I'm sure you get loads of these but heck I said I'd give it a shot anyway!
Your artwork is so inspiring and beautiful. I recently graduated from art school with a degree in Animation Production but I've decided I'd love to be an illustrator some day. Your work really motivates me and gets my brain juice buzzin. Keep it up!!!
.
#oh thank you! I'm glad you did!#first off as a general rule I think it's always okay to message any individual independent artist/creator#and tell them that you like their work#you may think they probably get lots of positive feedback and such and another one doesn't matter#but I would bet money that the actual amount is almost always smaller than you'd think#so every kind comment has the potential to cheer them up and inspire them#and motivate them to continue creating and posting their work online for people to see#messages like that can linger at the back of your mind for ages#I regularly think back to the nice things people have said about my art over the years#especially when I'm struggling with art block and feel like what I make isn't worth anything and that I'm bad and my stuff is bad#this got a little long winded and I'm probably preaching to the choir#but what I wanted to say is don't be afraid to let creatives know if you like their work it's always appreciated#I'm flattered to hear my dog doodles motivate and inspire you!#animation and illustration are both good choices imo#I wish you all the best on whatever you end up doing#answered#starfruitwyne

Theta is an incredibly old Hag having been able to survive for a millennium, her true age unknown as she herself stopped counting. Thus amongst Hags, not only does she rank as a Grandmother but a very powerful one at that, her only misfortune having been the last of her coven, the group having cannibalized itself in a struggle for power.
Such old Hags exist but are a rarity, and in some isolated pockets of rural areas they are worshipped as deities of the natural cycle of decomposition and as the group for life. Though this practice is few and far between and generally discouraged in favour of the standard pantheon and generally labeled as a false or old god. Their domains consist of ancient forests older than civilizations, not unlike Silvanus, though where they differ is that the Fae have a propensity to grant wishes and desires, for a price of course, rather than keeping a distance for the sake of balance (Often times this involves body parts [ a la what Auntie Ethel does in BG3, where they would be granted sight or hearing through your body] or living beings).
Theta's reasoning for pursuing Blythe is nothing special - she was simply seeking out Elven women with a potential, ones that have not awakened or honed their magical skills as to be molded and influenced (She sees it as teaching a chick to fly).
Like other Hags, Theta believes in the obscenity of love; patron of obsession and possession. She encourages Elven mages to cannibalize their lovers - and is staunch in the belief that consuming another grants their power. Whether or not that belief is fact or fiction is dubious.
#Theta#cannibalism as a metaphor for love taken LITERALLY!!#I WANT to add the introdude the remote worship into the story because...i love me some rituals and ye Old Gods worship#most primal forms of worship and denial of the accepted pantheon#i like to think of all the different fae as being almost independent of each other - kind of like humanoids in faerun#yes theyre all fae but theyre so divorced whatever the other is doing#i love old folk beliefs and rituals as a medium for storytelling especially with how its portrayed in Funger and Witcher#PRIMAL POWERFUL BEINGS....NOT EVIL NOR GOOD...JUST FORCES....

my dad was on his best behavior tonight. i met him and his new wife. he has a white beard now and looks like every grizzled fisherman in an old sea myth. it was awkward but my siblings carried the conversation (as i was typing that sentence, my sister called to debrief and said "yeah, that was my goal, just to keep talking.") my dad's new wife repeatedly hassled both of my siblings about settling down and having kids, but left me alone, presumably because i'm Butch Dyke. my brother mentioned doing volunteer work with foreign students at college and she went, "oh, are they illegals?" which was the only really nasty reminder of Who These People Are. then when my brother said he'd been talking to a friend, she went, "oh, a giiiiirl?" and he got the meanest look on his face and flatly went, "no. they're nonbinary." truly taking one for the team in terms of being the most problematic one at the dinner table.
dad told several stories about when i was in elementary school, since that's the last time i was his daughter. he reminded me that a lot of who i am now comes directly from him in ways that aren't Always bad. he was the one who told me to beat the shit out of anyone who harassed me or my friends. he was the one who taught me how to fight. he was the one who impressed upon me that i'm ruthless before i'm ever a woman, however much he may regret that now.
i put on my best high-pitched all-american cheerleader appeasement voice for all of dinner, and his wife said, "oh, you sound just like your mother! your voice.... it's so strange" thank you ma'am. it's because my mother and i both know how to win.
#racism#just in case#i'm seeing him One more time before i go. for my sister's birthday dinner#but like i said. my sister is VERY skilled at keeping a conversation going. god fucking bless her.#this is actually a pretty positive post. i wanted him to behave and he did. i wanted his wife to behave and she did. mostly.#my siblings are both irritated about the grandkids thing -- my sister especially#because she lives independently and has a fabulous career and is killing it in life#and she'll never be good enough for them as long as she doesn't have a husband and child.#i got that lecture over a decade ago when i told dad i'm a lesbian. so it doesn't sting me anymore.

#based on the pov he takes in the episode mentioned in op's post‚ that's not what his motivations here are at all#especially considering he doesn't know that he unknowingly broke the first seal at this point‚ which is the aspect of hell#that could be considered that he was manipulated (by omission or lack therepf of information) into doing#dean's issue here is sam's own monstrosity and the implications of it re: relationship dynamic (and how ruby is representative of it)#it's echoed over and over throughout the season. the most encapsulating aspects being#in 4.21‚ “at least he dies human‚” and‚ “demon bitch is a dealbreaker. you kiss her goodbye‚ we can go right now.”#and i mean even in the exerpts above dean is explicitly trying to sway sam away from the issue at hand with aspects that are important to#sam's own motivations‚ rather than his own: 1) the fact that sam is able to save people and 2) sam's faith#there's also the aspect of sam's independence and why sam kept it from dean in the first place#(dean's reaction omce he does actually find out (detailed within 4.04) as well as the same reason sam kept what azazel did to him#from dean—“it's never been in the family like this.” 'it' being inclinations of monstrosity)#i mean dean definitely considers and acknowledges the manipulative potential of ruby upon sam#but he does so in the same way that canon itself characterises demons than in terms of any personal inclination#then immediately redirects it onto sam's beliefs and motivations#but like i get it. he's your guy so you're going to give him the benefit of the doubt lol#ludere

a pet headcanon of mine is that after they're done with the sigil removal, emira expands her horizons and starts studying the psychological side of healing, pulling in some resources from the human realm and combining it with boiling isles methods (i imagine the field of psychology in the boiling isles, while existent, was often pushed aside as just a lesser branch of the healing coven back when belos was in charge. i do imagine there's often magic like the memory tweezers involved)
and i imagine she ends up focusing in on like, art therapy and self-expression, because she knows how important that can be, after having her individuality stifled so hard when she was young
#eliot posts#toh#the owl house#emira blight#canon gave us so little on her compared to her siblings and i feel A Need to expand on her because of that lol#also i like the idea that she does still enjoy illusion magic and focuses more on the artistic/creative side of it#she also gets into non-magical art at some point#<idk if that hc came from me or f1ddlyb1ts or if we both came up w it independently but it's included in one of their fics#and then i think she explores writing some and even a bit of music and bard magic#projecting my ''cannot stick to just one creative hobby'' here#raine mentors her because if amity can get lilith and edric can get eda then emira should get raine#also all of the blight kids have formed a good relationship with darius as their probably future stepdad#but emira especially vibes with him#like ''hey dad i'm going for manicures and bubble tea with your boyfriend. i'll be back by seven''#boiling isles bubble tea has eyeballs instead of tapioca‚ naturally
