DIONYSUS AND MIRRORS

Dionysus is associated with mirrors throughout his myths. In one of his creation myths, he was lured away from the Gods with toys as a baby. The item that enticed him the most was the mirror, Esoptron. The titans then proceeded to rip him apart and boil him to eat, except for his heart, which was saved by Athena. Zeus gave the heart to Semele, who regrew Dionysus in her womb. After her death, the rest of the pregnancy was carried out by Zeus, making Dionysus ‘thrice born’. Humanity was born from the charred remains of the titans, containing their evil and well as the divinity of the gods, a gift from Dionysus himself.

Wine was said to be the mirror of mankind and the soul.

Hephaestus gave baby Dionysus a mirror, and when he looked into it, he created all multiplicity.

It is likely that the type of mirror or reflective surface used in the Dionysian mysteries was wine in a shallow dish.

Mirrors and reflective surfaces such as water and blood were used in antiquity for divination.

One theory is that the mirror represents the soul itself.

Dionysus being entranced by the mirror and other toys bears similarities to Kore (Persephone) being taken in by the beautiful flower before she is snatched by Hades and abducted to the underworld. Both were young and naive, taken in by the beauty they saw.

Interesting concept, execution needs a little polish

"Democracy" comes from the Greek dēmo (people) and -kratia (government).

Likewise, other real-world terms such as kleptocracy (kléptēs (thief) and -kratia (government)) and gerontocracy (gérōn (old man) and -kratia (government)) also have Greek roots.

So it follows that, in order to sound "legitimate," making an effort to follow the same pattern, instead of mashing up English/French and Greek, goes a long way towards that end.

✧* ░  I think the trend today, at least here: people should be open aka social as damn && profile themselves && network in social media. I am kinda private person… In mind I got really no interest to keep personal facebook, instagram, twitter etc. Idk it just drains me how much people push these things nowadays. Also increasing number of group work at uni. It’s never balanced && very bothersome to me. I rather study subject in silence.

Η σύγχρονη κοινωνία επιβάλει στον άνθρωπο να δημιουργεί στόχους, να τους διατηρεί, να τους καταρρίπτει ή να τους εγκαταλείπει και ξανά από την αρχή. Καταρχάς ο Manson, παιδί της οικονομικής κρίσης, influencer, blogger κλπ μας παραθέτει εννέα κεφάλαια στα οποία ουσιαστικά μας προτρέπει να αγνοούμε τη σημαντικότητα των μεγαλεπήβολων στόχων μας και να εφιστούμε την προσοχή μας σε πιο απλούς στόχους, πιο εσωτερικούς, πχ να μη σκοτίζομαι τόσο για το αν θα πάρω επιτέλους ένα σπίτι (διότι όταν το αποκτήσω δε θα έχω στόχους και θα το βαρεθώ) αλλά να κοιτάξω να γίνω πιο ειλικρινής και καλός με τον εαυτό μου και τους άλλους άνθρωπος. Οπότε... πάλι στόχος.

Καταλαβαίνω, επίσης, το πως άλλαξε ο κόσμος του, ψυχικός και μη, από το τραγικό συμβάν που συνέβη στα 19 του (no spoilers here) και γιατί θέλει να βλέπει την ασημαντότητα που περιβάλλει το κάθε τι στη ζωή μας, αφού όλοι κάποια στιγμή θα φ��γουμε από το μάταιο τούτο κόσμο, οπότε γιατί να χαλιόμαστε με τα δύσκολα και τα υλικά αφού έχουμε τον εαυτούλη μας και τους γύρω μας, αλλά αυτό που μου έβγαλε μέσα στο βιβλίο του επίσης είναι το πως ήθελε να μας δείξει ότι τη σύντροφό του την αγαπάει, τη σέβεται και τη λατρεύει, ότι είναι κακό να απατάς και να προδίδεις στη σχέση (οκ, είχε φάει μεγάλο κέρατο από την πρώτη του σχέση) και γενικά μία ατμόσφαιρα “μωράκι μου, είμαι πολύ καλός μαζί σου, δε θα κάνω τίποτα επιλήψιμο, κοίτα! το λέω σε όλο τον κόσμο!”

Χαλαρώστε... Όντως, κάποια στιγμή όλοι θα φύγουμε. Κάντε λοιπόν τις διαθήκες σας, τις παρακλήσεις σας και τις ευχές σας στους ζώντες, αλλά δείτε και πως θα ανταγωνιστείτε (με τους άλλους ή με τον εαυτό σας, δεν έχει σημασία) για να πετύχετε πράγματα, εσωτερικά και μη, διότι ο άνθρωπος, κατά βάση, δεν είναι τίποτε άλλο από ένα εξελιγμένο νοητικά ζώο. Απλά. Κυνηγοί ήμασταν, είμαστε και θα είμαστε. Ο ανταγωνισμός βρίσκεται, κυριολεκτικά, στο dna μας! Εξού και δεν πρόκειται ποτέ να έχουμε ουτοπικές κοινωνίες βασισμένες στη συνεργασία, την ειλικρίνια, την προσήλωση στην εργασία και την ίδια την κοινωνία, την κοινή χρήση αγαθών κλπ κλπ διότι το dna μας δεν είναι το ίδιο με τα μυρμήγκια, ομοιάζει περισσότερο με αυτό των λιονταριών, ένας αρχηγός που κάποιος θέλει να τον εκτοπίσει και τον ηττημένο τον τρώει η μαρμάγκα.

What made you decide to get a tumblr?:  I had a personal tumblr for years that I no longer use. Then I really wanted to write with other people so I decided to make a half life rp blog for a combine assassin. But then BB came out and I was like yooooo I want to make a kidnapper. Extollere has been a character in my own stories for years, but I thought he’d fit the Kidnapper role so I just kinda superimposed him into bloodborne’s story and here he is. 

Do you get asks on a daily basis?:  I used to when I was super active, but I really don't anymore. I hopefully will change that once Elias’ blog is done. 

Why did you choose your URL?:  I’m tired of answering this for his current url that I’m changing so I’m answering this for my new url that isn’t active yet. Filth Pig is a song by Ministry about someone who sells themselves out for money or fame and does horrible things for something of a higher power. Which is fitting for Extollere as he’s a collector for an arms dealing firm in his main verse.
