I (20x) am friends w/ this person (17x) and they mentioned wanting to rp with me- I dont mind rp by itself cause we're always all just dicking around, but they said the topic could end up getting uh. Erotic.

They're going to be 18 in 2 months, I turned 20 a month ago. That makes the age gap 2 years and 3 months, so its not outrageous or anything. THEY know how old I am and they know I know how old they are and they said they don't care. but i'm a little paranoid- is it really okay to rp a scenario with someone who's only ALMOST 18? I'm not sure- if they were 18 and/or I were still 19 i'd probably go ahead. I'm thinking of calling it off to err on the side of caution, especially because i'm not entirely comfortable with it nevermind whether theyd really be or not- but if i didn't call it off, would I be the asshole?

As a side note, if you don’t follow at least one of my RP blogs, I sort of tend to assume that you don’t want to interact with that one. Same anon for that Boba ask here - I'll tell you right now that I can fall asleep to pretty much anything if I try, and at any time, so once I got comfortable even the louder, ominous bubbling groans would lull me to sleep. I imagine actually using your tummy as a pillow at the time would've been unpleasant for me, if not you too - a rock-solid BOULDER doesn't sound like much of a pillow. I'd probably just cuddle against you, in whatever position made you more comfortable (less uncomfortable?).

"Send anons" was the first phrasing to come up when I actually meant "send asks". In my head it's 'cuz I know people that would rather their usernames not be tied to kink. I'm one such person (with my main account, as this one is a side-blog) and because of that I understand why someone would rather send kink-stuff as anon. I respect that and thus I encourage anonymous asks. If you don't care whether or not your username is "outed" for liking this kink, I'm fine with it, but if not specified in the username itself (something tummy related) or in the ask it self then I'd err on the side of caution before posting. "Send anons" is more so that people that don't want their usernames "outed" are free to check off the anonymous box and/or specify that they don't want their usernames "outed" if I post their ask. I don't want to accidentally "out" someone's kinks 'cuz I know I'd feel terrible if it happened to me.

I’m not exactly sure what sort of interaction I’m comfortable with online. Like, how RP actually works (got a few asks about that). I’m trying to decide if I want to engage via the messaging/IM thing they have set up here. Like, at worst I guess I’d just ignore it when I don’t want to talk to someone or I’m not in a kinky mood? I do know that when I get in a kinky mood I definitely want more people to talk to about this sort of stuff. Opening up asks and asking for asks and whatnot was my way of saying “hey, feel free to talk to me about kink ‘cuz I’m in that sort of mood”. Not sure how exactly to RP but I always imagined that the Send Anons was similar, where people could send me responses to my posts. What they’d wanna do to me etc.

In response to your follow-up. Maybe you would be able to fall asleep with the ruckus in my guts after the boba incident, but I doubt it would have been comfortable for either of us and certainly not comfortable enough for you to sleep LOL. If you tried to sleep with your head on my tummy it wouldn't just be the noises you had to contend with, your neck would have been at an odd angle from how inflated my tummy was. There was very little give to it so it'd probably would have felt like sleeping on a rock (certainly felt like I was lying on one when I tried to sleep on my front). Also, I was moving around a lot, trying to find some position that lessened the stretched-ache of my guts (in vain that first night) so that alone probably would have made it so that you wouldn't be able to sleep.  

Ultimately, if you wanted to sleep on my tummy you'd definitely have to "break it in" first and help me soften it up by relieving some of the indigestion that was swirling around in it. If you just wanted to play around with my tum as you fell asleep I would have been down for that (totally fictional scenario, of course) 'cuz sadistic tummy stuff is sort of my jam.

5 players and 1 DM who have never played D&D before. As the DM - please help me haha

Oh man, you’re in for some fun!

First off, I highly recommend you sit with each player while they make their characters. That way you get familiar with everything that character can do, and what the players want from their characters. 

Do they want an epic quest, or to play the hack and slash backup for other people’s epic quests? 

What kind of things from their backstory can you exploit later in the campaign to make them more invested? 

Any special quests you’d like to do just for their benefit? 

Second, consider what kind of campaign you want to do. There’s pros and cons of any type. Pre made campaigns require less prep work, but they’re harder to customize to the way your players want to play. Making your own campaign is a lot more work, but can end up more satisfying and memorable for your players.

Since none of you have played before, I’d probably go with a pre made. Pick one as a group that everyone has interest in, and go for it! I personally enjoy horde of the dragon queen, but there’s a ton more out there. That one’s an official release from wizards and there are also a ton of home brews to find online. 

Some tips for pre-made campaigns:

Note that I said *less* prep, not *no* prep. There will always be prep work. 

You should definitely read through the entire adventure thoroughly, so you know where you’re going, and you should read the part that you’ll play next several times over. 

Make sure you have all the monsters readily available before the start of play. Basic stats like health, marked page numbers in the monster manual, etc. 

These campaigns will have specific parts you’re supposed to read to your players. Practice them. Rewrite them if you don’t think you sound authentic when reading it, but whatever you do Practice Reading It Out Loud so you aren’t fumbling over your words in game and you can keep a steady flow. 

Consider what you’ll do if {when} they go off track. Are you prepared to alter course and let them go off before guiding them back to where they need to be, or are you going to immediately put a block on them so they have to go where the quest says to go? Either way is fine, and there’s no shame in the second option. Its railroading, which gets a bad rap, but its perfectly acceptable in some situations. 

Third: remember that this is a game and you’re supposed to be having fun. If your players aren’t enjoying themselves, ask if they’d like to try out a different type of quest or a new setting. Sometimes it take a bit for people to find their stride. 

Also, your players will do something you didn’t expect or plan for. They also might get totally off track and do something stupid for a while. Let them! Sometimes that stupid shit is the most memorable thing and they’ll be talking about it for years to come. Hell, I still tell a story that happened in a game I was in 8 years ago! That random, off the wall, sometimes stupid shit is what makes this game great. You don’t get that from a video game unless the developers put it in there, and that frankly just isn’t as much fun. 

Obviously there is a time to reign people in, like when members of the party start getting bored and frustrated with it. I err on the side of ‘let them be stupid’ but even I know that there are times I should step in and move the story along. Knowing when that moment is takes some intuition and experience, but you’ll get the hang of it!

As an aside to all this talk of players going off track, if they do something you were totally unprepared for it’s OK to ask for a game break so you can figure out what to do next. There is no shame in that, and your players should appreciate it because it means you really care about the game and you want to give them something good rather than pulling something not so great out of thin air. 

Lastly, here are some resources I have used when creating this game that I’m doing now. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve even played D&D, and even longer since I was a DM, so I made sure to be prepared. As evidenced in one of my more popular posts...

Finally, the best place to learn is just from listening to and watching more experienced DM’s. I already mentioned Critical Role, but other real play shows/podcasts are fantastic. Another option is to find a local game store and see if they have a D&D night where you can observe and possibly ask the DM questions after or before the game.

How far she has come as a person. She did a bit of soul-searching after she was exiled, and she knew she had a lot of room to grow, and needed to grow. She lapsed a lot, drank in excess and indulged in pleasures of the flesh too much. She was also prone to angry, violent outbursts…but she is growing as a person, learning to embrace her softer side.

I think my main critique is that you don't get to hang out with HK-47 until three fifths through the game. But I also wanted to say that your blog is easily my favorite thing in this blasted blue hellscape. 10/10 A+ MacLeish-tastic goodness Also, what RP games do you play? I played D&D with some folks once and had an amazing time, but I am otherwise ignorant of such things. And the last post involving, err, vampire factions and such was very foreign to me.

oh for sure the fact that you don’t get to hang out with HK for the whole game merits filing a bug report with Chris Avellone personally, to his doorstep, because how dare he.

The tabletop game I’m playing now is Vampire: the Masquerade! It’s a perennial favorite of gothy kids with too many emotions, and also has great lore and a ton of flexibility in terms of what kinds of characters it allows to function as protagonists. It really lends itself well to a sandbox style of storytelling, because listen, the world is ending no matter what you do. What matters is that you acquit yourself in a way that allows you to feel satisfied with what you’ve done at the end of the everything. Maybe that means “making this one neighborhood a little bit better.” Maybe it means transforming into a halo of flesh and eyes and passing beyond mortal understanding. Both work.

All that stuff about vampire factions would be very opaque to people who aren’t into VtM, yeah. If you ever want to nerd the fuck out for an afternoon, peruse the VtM 20th Anniversary Edition sourcebook; it’s available online for free as a PDF.  You’ll learn your Toreadors from your Brujahs and your Camarillas from your Sabbats. Or, you know, don’t do that, and die just slightly less of an irredeemable geek than you would have otherwise.

how long have you been rping?

errr on tumblr maybe like a year or so. i used to rp pretty hard in gaia online back in the day. which i should be sort of embarrassed of but i loved gaia so fucking fighting me. so maybe five or six years in total.

probably like... five or six. not gonna lie but like indie was way more my thing in the beginning, so i haven’t been in a ton of roleplay groups.

i usually create characters completely from scratch for each rp i’m in because i’m a trash person but... reyes tordai could come join the daddy issues squad. he’s the reason i have like 200 samuel larsen gifs i’ve collected over the years. though idk how’d he’d fit in well because a lot of his story line stems from a lot of angst about being a half-werewolf and being rejected by society but you know. he says fuck a lot and is a uwu loner and pretty much dex but his father was actually a great dude and he’s waaay more withdrawn.
