defense - jegulus - background wolfstar, platonic bartylus, rosekiller, platonic prongsfoot - @into-the-jeggyverse - word count: 332
“When you go in there, you just have to give them your name, explain why you’re there, and show them this,” Barty said calmly, handing Regulus a laminated paper rectangle with his picture on it.
He took it with a grimace. “How many times have you done this?” he mumbled.
The other man grinned. “Honestly, usually it’s Rosie coming for me. Or Pandora coming for both of us. But one tiny little memory charm and you’ll be out in a tick, no Aurors the wiser. Simple as.”
Regulus rolled his eyes. “I should have never allowed all of you to get me that Muggle mobile. Then I wouldn’t have been able to answer the phone and-”
“Too late for ‘should haves,’ Reggie dearest. Go get your man,” Barty said bracingly, shoving Regulus out of the car.
So Regulus walked into the dreary-looking building and up to the desk, grumbling curses under his breath, and presented the rectangle. “Hi, I’m Regulus Potter. Here to get my idiots.”
The bored-looking person in uniform behind the desk made eye contact, eyes lighting up. “Oh, thank God. Please take them.”
He only had to spend about five minutes standing in pure confusion before James and Sirius came bounding in the room, yelling behind themselves, “....bye, Alan! See you for that party next Thursday! Good luck with the kids, Herb! Loving that purple hair, Belinda, I really need to try something like that!”
Regulus could only gape as the two men turned happily to him before stopping cold, their joyful expressions turning from relaxed and upbeat to absolutely terrified.
“...erm. Hi, baby,” James said first, stepping forward and reaching out, only to shrink back when Regulus raised an eyebrow. “I…I thought Remus was coming?”
“He had a class. Why are you two in a fucking jail?” he replied flatly, staring between his husband and his brother.
“Well.....in our defense…you left us unsupervised?” Sirius replied with a nervous grin.
The sad truth was, Sirius had a point.

(2/2) Edgeworth meets Wright for the first time
Part 1!
For the prompt of Narumitsu Week Day 5: Another Universe, here's part 2 of this comic for my Story Contest AU.
[Transcript]
The descriptions how the characters look are in the Intro post linked in the word "Story Contest AU" in the previous caption.
The comic is mostly monochrome in black and white, with slight color variation due to a filter.
Page 1:
Wright leans in to Edgeworth. "So," he starts, "See anything you like?" Edgeworth simply stares at him. Trucy, still holding the big painting, turns to Phoenix, "Daddy, can I have my burger?"
Edgeworth's empty stare of shock.
Edgeworth's empty stare of shock evolves into a hand over his face, rubbing his eyes. The hand rises his glasses as he does so. "Of course," his train if thought begins.
"Um, sir...?" Wright questions him, "Uh." "Here you go sweetie," he hands his daughter a burger. She thanks him and adds, "I think you broke him." Meanwhile Edgeworth turned away from from them, his face in his hands, emanating a depressing aura while he is thinking, "Of course, it's the artist's daughter. Just what am I thinking? Embarrassing. I am so tired."
"Erm," Edgeworth turns back around to face Wright, his hand going through his hair, "My sincere apologies, but unfortunately I cannot afford original artworks at this time..." "Ah! Say no more!" Wright exclaims, his hand raising.
Page 2:
Wright is picking up a stack of papers from the table.
He hands Edgeworth the stack, grinning, while Trucy stares at Edgeworth from behind, munching on a burger. "Prints! Seven bucks. Go wild!" Wright tells Edgeworth.
Edgeworth starts going through the stack, his fingers dipping among the papers while thinking, "Ahh... Now I am expected to purchase something... I would feel incredibly bad if I left them hanging like this..."
His fingers stop, as he sees a glimpse of a Steel Samurai illustration.
"The Steel Samurai!!!" he yells in his mind as he stares wide eyed, sweating and blushing at his discovery.
"Do you sell more... Of this type?" Edgeworth asks, pulling the Steel Samurai illustration out of the pile. Trucy has her eyes on Wright now. "Ahh, no unfortunately..." he replies.
Edgeworth: "That's a shame." Wright: "To be clear, I did sell them at one con I was at... That one here is leftovers, haha." Edgeworth: "So you attend comic cons?" Wright: "Yeah, but mostly with a friend..." They continue going on and on while Trucy is eating her burger and her eyes swipe between them.
Page 3:
A panel of their hands, Edgeworth handing Wright the money bills. "Here you go," he says. "Thank you so much!" Wright replies. There are sparkles around them.
As Edgeworth is putting the print in his bag, Wright wishes him a nice day and he nods.
Edgeworth looks down and starts brooding. Wright looks at him questioningly.
"Here goes nothing," he thinks, pulling out a scrunched piece of paper from his pocket.
He hands Wright the paper. "A contest." Sweat drops roll down his face. Wright is surprised, and Trucy in her curious nature lifts herself up so she can try and peek the content of the paper.
Page 4:
Edgeworth is holding out the paper, blushing furiously and sweating. The focus is on him. He is surrounded by sparkles and cozy, dull lighting. "This is a flyer for an illustrated story contest. All the information is on it, if you wish to take a look... The contestants join in teams of two..." he begins to say.
Wright simply stares at him, eyes wide and eyebrows raised, also blushing. The focus is now on him, and he is the one surrounded by sparkles and cozy, dull lighting. Edgeworth continues, "I am a writer, Miles Edgeworth. Your artworks have piqued my interest... If you're interested..."
Wright nervously smiles at him, rubbing the back of his neck. "Nghh... There it is..." Edgeworth realizes to himself, "That look of pity..."
Trucy practically jumps in front of Wright. He jerks at her appearance. "That's so great!" she exclaims, smiling widely, "Perfect!"
Page 5:
"Daddy hasn't drawn in weeks!" she continues giddily, accentuating the 'weeks', those words sharply stabbing Wright's head. He freezes in shock. Edgeworth's hand twitches as Trucy quickly swipes the flyer away from him.
"It'll be so good for him!" Trucy says. Edgeworth stares dumbfounded at his now empty hand, and fixes up his bag on his shoulder.
Wright, exasperated, looks at his daughter, shoulders slouched, blushing from embarrassment. In return she turns on sparkly eyes and looks at him back.
Her gaze gets more intense and way sparklier, and Wright closes his eyes.
"Okay!" Wright declares, straightening up, one hand on his forehead, and another digging through his hoodie pocket. He repeats himself more quietly, "Okay." Trucy raises her arms in victory and grins.
"Listen, um, Mr. Edgeworth," Wright begins, smiling nervously, pulling out his old Nokia phone from his pocket, "I can't promise anything, but you did buy from me. You can give me your number and I can let you know by tomorrow. How does that sound?"
Page 6:
Edgeworth, with the back of his hand over his mouth, surprised, stares at him. "... That is amenable, yes." The answer he gives him is calm, but inside his mind, he is crying in excitement and relief, yelling "There is hope!" in all caps. The panel is filled with flashes and flickers.
Edgeworth is typing in his number in Wright's phone. "...Erm, forgive me, I didn't catch your name?" he asks.
"Oh! Phoenix Wright. Nice to meet ya," replies Wright.
"Likewise." As he says this, Edgeworth thinks, "What year is this phone from...?"

nothing makes you cry faster.
the equations, the formulas, the unnecessary mixing of letters with numbers. because seriously, who the fuck's idea was this? your memory span of a goldfish didn't make it any better.
so, why did you major in chemistry? good question.
... no answer.
your knee bounced as you hunched over at your bedroom desk, having a staring contest with the paper below you. one you were losing terribly.
time for bed.
you peeled the moisturizing sheet mask off of your face, sighing as you tossed it in the mini trash to your left. somehow, standing up felt like sipping an overly carbonated sprite —sharp and chaotic, you nearly fell over feeling the sleep in your legs, a sting in your butt from sitting so long.
but, at least you were home. and even better, home alone for the entire week. your parents were away for their anniversary.
dorming was never a thought going into college. and frankly, you'd eat a jean jacket before doing so. you loved your room. the peace and quiet, your own space and privacy. all the little things in it that reflected your mind.
plus, you can't exactly flick the bean with a roommate always around.
unless you're both, like... really horny lesbians.
ask anyone. chem homework will put you to sleep faster than melatonin, you knew to pamper up before your study session. showered and shaved, dressed in silk sleepwear, your hair pulled back by a plush spa headband. you were all set for a long awaited good night's rest.
you began tidying up on your desk, neatly stacking textbooks, stuffing your papers back in their folders, squeezing highlighters and pens back into their pouch. but few items remained, and they made your busy hands become still.
a half-eaten bar of korean chocolate, van cleef bracelets still in their boxes, a glass vase of pink and white lego flowers next to your new macbook.
heeseung's valentine's day gifts.
there were more that'd been camping in your room for a while, untouched and neglected, still wrapped in their pink ribbons. the pressure of upcoming finals was swallowing you whole, and somewhere in the blur of all-nighters and deadlines, you completely forgot you had a boyfriend 5,000 miles away.
you wondered what heeseung was up to. maybe asleep, whatever time it was in korea. and if not, on his 4th pack of nongshim.
you couldn't help but smile, picking up the vase and admiring the toy bouquet, all of its complex miniature pieces. cherry blossoms and lotuses—your favorite flowers. your boyfriend was so thoughtful.
so sweet.
you thought back to the sweetness of his cherry chapstick. the warmth of his skilled tongue, the way it swirled in your mouth and all the other places that 14th of february.
heeseung was the best kisser, god did it make you so wet. it was so easy to get lost in him, to kiss and kiss until your head spun—until you were dazed and dizzy, drunk off the taste of his lips.
he liked to take his time with you. to tease, to savor the heat of the moment until you whimpered and begged for more.
you didn't realize how much you missed it until now.
he was yours in real life, not some parasocial fairytale that his fans dwelled in. it ate you alive— not being able to show and tell, and it was bittersweet how little you got to see him. heeseung always found small ways to show that he cared, to show how much he missed you, and you clung to them tight. but the space between visits still stung.
you tried not to think about it as much. it was almost like a trauma response—purposely keeping yourself busy so you didn't drown in the heartache. deep down inside, you really missed him.
you set the vase down, turning your head to all the gift bags and boxes by your bedroom door. a wave of guilt crept into your stomach.
you didn't have to open them to know that heeseung put his unwavering love for you into each and every one. he'd probably been waiting to hear what you thought, to hear a thank you. you were curious as to why he hasn't asked, how the two of you had been talking without a mention of them.
it almost felt like there was a reason for his silence. like there was something you had to do first, something you were supposed to uncover on your own.
you tip-toed over quietly, picking up the topmost box. it was noticeably smaller than the others—about the size of a shoebox, but heavier than it looked. you chuckled at the rushed cursive of your name in the corner of the matte white paper.
with a gentle plop onto your bed, you pulled the box into your lap. it was cutely tied with a perfect bow, just like all the others. so heeseung—his little attempts to make all things girly just the way you liked them.
you untied it, and slowly tore apart its wrapping. the top lifted off easily, revealing layers of crinkled pink tissue paper.
you removed them.
and when you did, your breath had never caught so hard in your throat at what lay beneath. like air had been yanked clean out of your lungs.
whatever you'd expected, it wasn't this.
clear and glossy, the most bright neon pink.
a fake penis.
a dildo.
this had to be some fucking joke.
you'd never used a sex toy before, nor had heeseung ever brought up the idea. it wasn't like you were completely closed off to the thought, it just seemed unnecessary. with the stress of work and school, there wasn't a horny bone in your body by the end of the night. not a spare second for you to crave anything other than sleep.
you picked up the dildo, eyebrows furrowed as you tried to make sense of it.
a chronic masturbater would've loved it. gummy-like to the feel, textured with scarily realistic veins. even the balls looked real.
it was so... big. and heavy.
you had to admit, it was a nice looking dick. but what made your stomach whirl the most —it was oddly similar to heeseung's length and girth, almost like he'd gotten it made custom to replicate himself. your two hands barely fit around it as you analyzed it in your grip.
you looked around your room—as if someone could've been watching—and quickly tucked it back safe, covering it with tissue. but when you did a double take into the box, there was more.
there it was. delicate, deceiving in its soft appearance.
another toy. a rose toy.
you'd heard about this one before, just never felt the urge to try it out yourself.
well... until now.
maybe it was just the curiosity, but excitement began to flicker within you. you picked it up, studying its petal-like designs. it was portable, and pretty. girls seemed to adore this rose—how it made them see stars, left their legs shaking like never before, how it sucked so much better than a man.
but it seemed impossible. no way could it beat your man.
not with the mouth he has.
you were still trying to make sense of heeseung's intentions. because... why? it wasn't like you'd asked for these, or ever complained about the lack of sex. if anything, waiting for him only made it better, more intense, more worth it.
what on gods green earth was he thinking?
and just when you thought the surprise was over, you spotted it. tucked beneath a final layer of tissue at the very bottom of the box was a single folded piece of paper. two words screamed at you on the front: read me.
your fingers hesitated, almost shy. your heart raced with anticipation as you opened it. your eyes skimmed over what was obviously heeseung's handwriting, except this time it was small and neat—more thoughtful in pink ink.

Duke comes home one day from school looking down in the dumps and a bunch of paper work.
"Hey Duke, what's all that paper work for?" Dick asks from the couch as Duke sets the foot tall pile of papers on the coffee table.
"Oh you know, just, bullies making me do their work." The whole room freezes.
Bullies?
"Duke, you're being bullied?" Duke seems to realize his mistake of words. Instead of the excuse he made up to tell them about how he missed a lot of work because of Signal work, he said the truth which was the fact that he had bullies.
"Erm-"
"Duke, why didn't you tell us?" Dick nearly whines out, hurt his foster-brother didn't tell him about having bullies.
"No- guys, it's okay. Seriously. You don't have to do anything about it. Seriously." He eyes Bruce from where the man was about to type in *probably* the school's number to complain.
"Why not? We can deal with those punks for you. Are they being racist or some'n?" Jason crosses his arms, standing in front of Duke with a raised brow.
"A little. But seriously, it's nothing I can't handle."
Bruce rubs his temple.
"Are you sure? Are you sure you can handle this?"
"Yes."
"Thomas, just know, we can step in whenever." Duke turns a smile towards Damian, and places his hand on Cass's when she hugs him from behind.
"Hey- it's the weekend. Let me handle those papers since I've got nothing to do and I'm ban from case work." Tim says, holding his hand out.
"Uh- okay?" Duke hands him the stack, thinking nothing of it, because it's Tim.
Tim takes a look through the papers, scrunching his face a bit before shrugging, a smirk appearing on his face.
"Uh- should I be worried?" Tim looks at him and waves him off. "Nah, don't worry 'bout it. I got this handled."
Uh. Okay?
------------
The following Monday, Duke shows up and puts his stuff in his locker.
Or at least he was until it was slammed shut.
"Hey Thomas. Got our work?" Turning around, Duke faced his three bullies; seniors Clint Rodriguez (the "big dog" as he called himself) and his lackies, Arion Centry and Pete Swinez.
"N-No.."
"No? Where is it, bitch? I told you to have it done by Monday." Rodriguez held him up to the locker. "Oh you mean these papers?"
Turning around, there stood Timothy Drake-Wayne; two three time nepo-baby and the biggest reputation in the school. The real life Regina George and Heather Chandler. He was with his two best friends, also big popular kids and his two Gretchen Wieners, Karen Smith, and Heathers.
"Drake." The mere face of him made the trio seethe. "Hah! You should see your face right now. Anyways, I did your college essays for you, hope you enjoy them. Would be a shame if you had to repurchase the papers for them."
Tim tosses them in the air, and everyone watches as they all fall to the ground.
"What the hell did you do."
"Oh, ya know, the basics of what you should put. Also, this your girl?" A girl, a cheerleader, goes and slides herself under Tim's arm.
"Babe!?"
"Sorry, Clint, but I have a reputation, people can't know we dated. Also, Tim's better looking and a better kisser." Morgan Letto, another popular nepo-baby in Gotham High, turns and kisses Tim right in the hallway, before stalking off.
Tim's trio laughs at their faces.
"Hey! You should probably pick these up, ya know, since they have your names on them. Wouldn't want to get sent to the principles for littering the school. Bad reputation means you can't go to Princeton." Bernard says.
"Or Oxford, or Harvard. See ya losers!" Ives laughs along with Bernard and Tim as they walk through the halls.
As if a bomb dropped, the three seniors scramble to pick up hundreds of papers worth of applications.
" "I'm racist towards black people because they're below white people like me" " Someone reads off of one paper down the hall.
" "I use grades that aren't mine that I bully people into doing for me." " Another person reads nearby.
"Give me those!"
Duke is left standing there, struck by the scene that just unfolded before his eyes.
He didn't know what to say, do, or act.
Should he laugh? Play it off? Call Bruce? Or Tim? Or anyone? Get picked up?
It's fine. It's just one day. Right?
------------
Lunch time rolls around.
Duke is sitting at his table with his friends eating. They were prime targets for Clint and his group.
As if on cue, the three stride up.
"Hey Thomas, got Tim Drake to do your work for you, huh? Well guess what?"
He was spun around and picked up by the collar, his two friends being held back by Arion and Pete.
"You ain't getting away with it here." Clint grits out. Of course he chose the cafeteria, the pretty much only place teachers don't monitor 24/7 and is void of any supervision, even with every grade in there for lunch.
Clint set Duke down and lined his fist up ready to punch him. Duke flinched as the fist came swinging.
"Hey loser!"
Cheers and shocked 'Oooh!'s were heard from around. He squinted one eye open and saw food fall from Clint's red face and a tray in Tim's right hand.
"Woops! Sorry! Guess my hand slipped!" That got a laugh from the crowd. Tim set the tray down and pat Duke's should before stalking towards Clint.
Duke saw behind them at the far wall where everyone could see Ives and Bernard setting three trays of food down (The senior trio's trays).
"You'll pay for that, Drake!" Clint took a swing, which Tim dodged easily and side sweeped him onto his knees.
Ives and Bernard did the same to Arion and Pete.
The three took the seniors by the hair and dragged them to the trays the two laid out previously.
Cameras went up and Duke watched in muted awe and terror at what Tim was doing. Was Tim really like this when he still went to high school? He was a junior now and he dropped out sophomore year? Was he like this as a freshman?
The three pushed the seniors faces into the trays.
"Since you're the big dog maybe you should eat like a real dog then, bitch. Here's some kibble. Dogs enjoy this one!" Tim poured dog kibble onto Clint's tray, seeing as his face turns redder and shows more humiliation than he's ever seen on anyone.
"Eat it, bitch! Like the dog you are! Or start barking and begging for forgiveness!" Tim says it through his teeth in such a grueling tone it sends shivers down Duke's spine.
"Hey Arion! If you actually did your work, you'd know that your name is a horse in Greek Myth. So maybe you should neigh like one too! Neigh, neigh. Get to eating horsey! You should start prancing for the rodeo. Giddey'yup!" Ives mocks him pushing his head into the tray over and over.
"Swinez? More like Swine-ez! Oink-oink! You stink like a pig. And you're eating like one too! Ewwww! Disgusting. Hahahahhaha!" Bernard's name change made the whole cafeteria roar in laughter.
What made the laughter stronger was when the three brought out collars with leashes and attached them to it.
"Come boys! Start walking like the animals you are!" Tim called, pulling on Clint's leash, dragging him mostly until Clint got up and started crawling in front of him.
Everytime they tried to get up, the three juniors were behind them to push them down to the ground again.
Almost everyone was recording.
"Look everyone! Look at our new pets!" Ives called out.
"If you know any better, you three better keep your collars on. You should better than to make your owners mad!" Bernard barked out a laugh.
"I think, you guys should start speaking in woofs, neighs, and oinks from now on. Especially, when we make you ask forgiveness to those you bullied." Tim said, grabbing the collar and forcing Clint to look at Duke.
The bell rang, lucky for those three.
"Woops! Looks like the fun's over! You better clean up for mess! Wouldn't want to make the janitors work more." Tim walked off. "Or look like complete idiots with all that gunk on your face." Bernard said as he and Ives followed Tim.
------------
Later, when Duke got home, he was silent. Bruce was silent too, despite him being the one Duke expected to ask about the bullies since he slipped up and told them.
"Hey Duke, how was school? Did they mess with you again?" Dick asked.
He looked at him, then at the rest of his siblings, noting Tim wasn't there, swallowed and shook his head.
"N-Not really."
"Not really?" Jason looked confused, as did the rest of them.
Before Duke could explain more, Tim came in laughing, tossing his bag on a couch before hopping on Bruce's arm rest.
"Bruce! You won't believe what I did today." Bruce looked at him and smirked. Smirked.
Tim relayed the entire story of what he, Bernard, and Ives did to Clint, Arion, and Pete. Bruce looked proud and the rest looked shocked.
"My reputation still stands even after I've been gone a year!" Tim seemed very proud of that.
"Atta boy!" Bruce ruffled his hair. "Yes, here's the tray of cookies you were promised all to yourself, master Tim." Alfred handed him a whole plate of cookies. "Thank you!"
"What!?"
"Hold on! He gets a whole plate of cookies for that? Why isn't he in trouble!? When did you enroll back?" Jason was beyond furious.
"Tim had a reputation in school for being like that towards bullies. Which is why no one bullied anyone with him around. Guess they all came back when he was gone. Duke didn't want us doing anything, and he didn't expect Tim to do anything because you all think he's a goody two shoes, so I sent my calvary in." Bruce explained.
Tim laughed at their faces.
"Oh please! I'm just getting started with them! Just wait till the end of the week. Then! I'll be done with them and they won't ever come back to the school."

erm… predatory/prey play with roman in the workplace……
everyone is gone, like the building is CLOSED closed. he tries to corner his assistant (because duh) and be like hey… what if you let me fuck you? and she just slips her heels off and just. books it.
it’s all in good fun, until it’s not. hopefully no one sees the security footage of him dragging her back into his office by her ankles.
and then he [redacted] her [redacted] until they [redacted]. goodbye 2024.
“I’m bored.”
“Try… I don’t know. Doing some of the paperwork we have to get through. We only have to be here until everything is looked over, signed, filed…” You sigh a long, frustrated sigh, leaning on the desk with your head in your hands. “Roman. You have to throw me a fuckin’ bone, here.” The hour runs so late that everyone else is gone on this floor, only the two of you left. You’re not tired, necessarily, just so utterly over all this paperwork.
Roman smirks at his place behind his desk, flicking his gaze to you from his computer screen. He lifts an eyebrow. “I could throw you a bone.”
A glare has him giggling to himself, that infuriatingly high little inward laugh he does when he’s feeling smug, or clever. It’s actually kind of attractive in an odd way… but so many things about Roman are. It pisses you off. He shouldn’t be allowed to be so smarmy and careless and just… look like that all the time. Roman’s eyes are on yours again and it becomes humiliatingly clear that you’ve just been staring at him, tracing the planes and lines of his handsome features. He turns a little, giving you his full attention now. Tracing his fingertip along some of the papers on his desk. Knowing you’ll watch.
“Oh… are you thinkin’ about it?” Roman licks the edge of his teeth, grinning. “You’re thinking about it, aren’t you. I mean… nobody’s here, right?”
“Fuck off,” you say softly. A flush rises up your throat and you roll your eyes, ripping another sheet off the top of the stack to parse through it. “You wish.”
“No… no, I think you wish. I do.” Roman rises up from his chair and you’re forced to look up at him, hands freezing as you move to sign a report. “I think you give me those fuck-me eyes all the time. As if I don’t notice. Oh - don’t make that face. I notice, sweetheart. I know when I’m stuck inside somebody’s mind… stuck tight.”
You feel a strange sort of… something. Something that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, just the way Roman’s standing up right now. Looming over his desk. Moving to walk around the edge. Out of pure instinct, you stand as well, palms on the surface as you rise up. Roman’s eyes are glittering, pupils wide and only getting wider.
“Roman…-”
“We should,” he says. “Fuck, I mean. You should let me bend you over this desk. Or… I mean, you could get down on your knees. I could get down on mine, whatever - equal opportunity fucking, right? I’m told I give some serious lip.”
He advances slowly, smoothly, like an animal as you edge toward the door. He’s smiling, but it’s not actually a smile at all. A wolf licking its chops. Your pulse quickens, a surge of adrenaline making your fingers tremble a little. Roman refuses to back down, his voice drawing lower, quieter, trying to hypnotize you like a cat with his words.
“Bad move, sweetheart. I can run. Probably had no idea, but all I did in fucking military school was get screamed at and run. I will catch you.”
Your breath catches in your throat and it’s then that the slice of fear starts mingling with something else, stomach doing flips. A spreading warmth seems to fill the basin of your hips, all that smoldering heat matching the fever-spots of flush in your cheeks. You slip off your heels, grateful for the carpeting - wearing thin tights might not fare so well on a hard, slippery floor while being chased. And that’s what this is, isn’t it? He’s going to chase you. A tiny shiver zips up your spine.
“I’m gunna give you a head start, just to level the -”
Before he can finish, you’re taking off. His laughter trails behind you, and after turning a corner in the endless rows of cubicles, you drop to your hands and knees and crawl, moving another couple rows over like that, holding your breath. There’s a manic thrill bouncing around inside your body, making you shake as you scuttle underneath a desk, both hands pressed over your own mouth. Somewhere nearby, there are soft, light scuffing sounds as he walks. Barely there, hard to discern. If he’s taken his shoes off, you’re fucked.
After a few agonizing minutes of trying to figure out his location by sound, he walks by. The sight of his legs walking away from you almost makes you gasp - almost. God, you can feel your pulse behind your fucking eyeballs. You inch forward little by little on your hands and knees on the carpet. Roman’s still slowly walking the other way. You rise up to a stand for only a fleeting moment before you stumble over your own goddamn feet, making a little sound as you land roughly on your hands and knees again. There’s a moment frozen in time in which you turn your head sharply to face Roman, and he looks behind his shoulder and sees you. There’s a flash of surprise on his face before he’s smirking, turning fully around, and you only make it a couple of steps before his fingers are digging into the collar of your shirt, yanking you back so that you fall down again, this time on your ass.
Limbs are pinwheeling for purchase - you twist in his grasp and he’s on top of you, laughing, practically panting with excitement. In a moment of blind panic, you slap him in the face and he reels a little. In that moment you scramble up and start running again, and he’s on your fucking heels. His laughter titters just behind you and it makes you giggle in return, giddy with the chase, with the weird combination of fear and arousal and anxiety making you throb. You throb everywhere - your pulse finds a loud, pounding home in the tip of your nose, your chest… your cunt.
Wheeling around a corner too fast, you trip again. Roman’s absolutely beside himself, laughing at you as he leans down and grabs your ankles.
“Hey, you really gave it your all,” he commends, voice dripping with derision. He flashes you a grin, all teeth as he starts dragging you backwards. You try to kick and wiggle, but Roman’s stronger than he looks - he has you in a solid grip, clucking his tongue at you. “No, none of that - you had your chances. I win, and I’m going to cum in your little cunt about it. Okay? That was the deal.”
Your skirt rides up and so does your blouse, everything coming untucked and rucking up. The carpet burns as he drags you across it, and you hiss as you squirm to escape it. Roman watches with a hint of amusement, uninterested in your struggle or your discomfort. He drags you all the way across the floor back to his office, and when you try to clutch at the door frame, Roman is swift to toss your legs to the side and take a step closer to kick it away. He finishes hauling you fully into the office and shuts the door, turning to you with his eyes all hooded and dark, cheeks red with excitement. The both of you tremble, the both of you utterly consumed by a manic sort of adrenaline high.
“Well, it’s not being bent over a desk, but - but I kinda like this better. More intimate, yeah? I get to watch you cum all over my cock. Lucky me - and lucky you,” he purrs, pushing your thighs open. When you lift yourself up on your elbows, he yanks your arms down by the wrists. “Dont. Give it up, honey - the struggle is really nice, don’t get me wrong. Cuuute, just fuckin’ cute as shit. But I’m getting impatient.”
He releases you to reach between your thighs, where he pulls at the fabric of your tights with both hands and rips them open down the center.
“Gotta invest in something that doesn’t get sold from a fuckin’ Walmart, babydoll. That was so easy it was barely fun.”
“Fuck you,” you mumble.
“Oh, you will.” Roman takes a moment to pull your underwear to the side. He runs his fingers along your slit, tracing the edges and folds of your pussy as he spreads it open, looking at it, barely teasing your clit. “You know how wet you are? Dripping. How fucking sad is that? Are you - oh, am I pissing you off? Making you all upset? You look like you wanna hit me. You wanna hit me again?”
You glare at him, opening your lips to say something about it when he laughs, shoving his fingers inside of you without warning, curling them, pumping them with a precision that has your glare dissolving. Moans take away all the words you had. Roman looks positively triumphant - he fucks them a little harder, a little faster, relishing the way you make those stupid, breathy sounds, the look on your face indistinguishable from pain. It excites him to think of that, too - hurting you a little.
“God, if you’re this fuckin’ whiny for my fingers, you’re really gunna love what comes next,” he murmurs.
Then you do slap him - but it can barely be called a slap at all. The impulse comes, you run with it in the heat of the moment, and a second too late you pull the slap a little and it barely registers. He blinks a little in surprise, fingers paused in their rhythm. He fucks them into you even harder as his eyes bore into yours, that delicate, angry vein showing on his forehead. His free hands rests on your inner thigh, gripping the flesh there. Keeping you spread.
“Not great,” he deadpans. “Try it again. This time, do it like you give a fuck about doing something right for once.”
You can do that. You can do that very well, and the crack of your open palm against the same cheek stings your hand. The flush to his face is immediate, and his eyes look black as he yanks his fingers out of your body again and he slaps you back with the same hand. He smiles as he watches you wipe your own cum off your cheek, tears welling up in your lashes. He tilts his head and pouts a little, undoing his slacks and pushing them down his hips. His cock bounces free, and the sight of it catches you completely off guard. It’s not that you’d ever had an expectation, or a particularly specific thought as to his size, but he is surprisingly thick. Long. His smooth, rippled cockflesh laced with veins. He grins, stroking it once or twice, and fuck, it looks gorgeous in his fingers like that as he teases himself.
“Yeah, I mean… at least I didn’t slap you with this, right? You wouldn’t even be conscious for what I’m about to do to you. But, you know… maybe another time.”
“Roman, seriously - you’re gunna have to… you know, take it - take it easy, okay?”
Roman’s eyes get absolutely dreamy, shining in the dimmed light and hooded by his lovely, low eyelids, wet lips parted as he crawls up over you. He leans in and lowers down until he can brush his lips just barely against yours, more a tease than anything else. He tilts his head and licks a wet stripe from the edge of your jaw up to your cheekbone, planting a wet, sloppy kiss there.
“Don’t you worry about that.” He reaches between your bodies and runs the fat, leaking head of his cock along your slit, slowly, up and down, back again. Every couple passes, he pushes the tip deliciously against your hole, rocking there but only barely. There’s a crease between his focused brows when he lifts to watch your expression, moving to keep your gaze even when you get embarrassed. “Look at you, all fuckin’ wriggly and full of shame. You getting desperate, sweetheart? Yeah? Wanna ask me for it?”
“Roman…”
“Mhmm?” Roman nuzzles playfully into your neck and nips at your throat, once, twice, a third time - this time hard enough to make you whine in that adorable way, your hips twitching. He chooses this moment to work more of himself in - only maybe an inch, just a little further, where he rocks infuriatingly slow again as he sucks a deep, dark bruise into your skin. He can’t wait to see what you do with that tomorrow - how you’re going to cover it up. But he’ll know. He’ll know it’s there. “Hey - go ahead. Ask for what you want.”
“Can you.. uh,” you mumble, nerves crashing under the sheer overload of sensation, of throbbing need. God, the entire fucking thing - the fear, the chase, the force, Roman being an insatiable goddamn beast hellbent on destroying you; it’s enough to melt your brain. But if finding a few more words is all that stands between you and the rest, then… “Can you please give me… more?”
“More of my cock?” Roman starts edging more of himself inside, a smooth, slow rolling of his hips, undulating. Each little thrust brings him closer to home, and you’re gasping. He fastens his lips to a new spot on your neck, at the juncture of your shoulder. “Just trying to take it easy, right? Be patient - you’ll get it all, honey.”
Finally, he’s worked himself balls-deep. He rolls so softly, so very tenderly against your cervix, the tip of his thick cock kissing against it over and over in a maddeningly erotic tease. Is it still a tease if there’s no room left to fuck into? He pushes your thighs open and lifts himself up a little, looking down at you. His cheeks are as flushed as yours. You’ve never noticed just how many freckles he has over his cheeks and nose, how they dot him delicately like a surreal expanse of dark stars in a pink sky.
“Touch yourself. Make yourself cum, just like this.”
Zero hesitation - you push your hand down between your thighs, between your bodies, and expertly circle your clit with your fingers. The natural clench against the stretch of him feels otherworldly. The bright, electric sensation of stimulation on the soft cusp of your cervix adds an entirely new layer to it; it’s sharp, but pleasantly so. You sneak a peek between your bodies at the way he rolls his hips, down to where he only slightly moves in and out of you. He keeps you impossibly full. You let your head fall back down and catch his smug lips, the way he licks them.
“Fuck… I’m close,” you whine.
“I know… I know.” God, he almost sounds kind. If you weren’t looking directly at him, you’d believe it. “Do it for me. You’re this tight already… I wanna know what it feels like to have your perfect little pussy milk me dry. You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to empty my fucking balls into you, you know that?”
“Oh - fucking…- shit-” Your entire body seems to seize up, and all that molten, coiled tension melts in a series of devastating waves, pulsating, rushing from behind your eyes all the way down to your toes as he continues to rock into you like that through the crash of your orgasm. His breathing gets erratic and he’s leaning down to lick at your throat. After you move your hand to cling to him, he starts to really fuck into you, rearing back just to slam his cock back inside. Suddenly you’re skating on the shockwave of a brand new explosion of pleasure as he sees fit to set a punishing new pace. The curve of his cock finally tends to all those barely-touched nerves in his full, brutal strokes, balls audibly slapping against your body.
“Yeah - keep fucking cumming. It’s okay, I know - it’s a lot to take. You’re doing so good - look at you. Like you were made to take my cock, huh, baby? I’m gunna fill you up, okay? You ready?” His voice is drawn high, soothing, making your head spin as you try to fit the tone of his voice with the sly, mean smirk on his lips. He reaches a hand up and presses his fingers against your lips, sliding two of them over your tongue. “Good girl - good fucking girl.”
The feeling of your lips and tongue on his fingers, the sounds you make, the way you keep clenching around him - it’s the perfect storm. His hips falter at the same time his moans do, and his cock is pulsing inside of you. He pushes deep, fingers matching as they wander toward the back of your throat until you whine, gagging, grabbing at his wrist to stop him. Your teeth scrape his knuckles and he shudders as he moans, rutting his hips in time with each thick spurt of his cum. There’s a wonderful sort of haze where both of your bodies are coming down, muscles relaxing. The beginning of the afterglow. Roman removes his fingers as his body stills, dick softening inside of you. He sticks those fingers into his own mouth without even thinking about it, tasting you, your saliva. Finally he separates from your body and pats the inside of your thigh, giving it a strangely affectionate squeeze. It feels more intimate than everything else you’ve done, in some weird way: the way he didn’t look at you when sucking your saliva off his fingers, the tenderness of the squeeze. Those things go quietly inside of you, somewhere else to peruse later. Things Roman wouldn’t really want you to have; accidental gifts.
“That was…” you trail off, exhaling hard to convey your feelings. You laugh a little bit, a bit of tension releasing as you do. “Jesus Christ.”
“Oh, you don’t have to do all that… you can just call me Roman Roy,” he cracks, smiling wryly. He sighs and pulls himself together, running a hand through his mussed hair before it falls right back into his eyes. “I know, I know. Big ol’ fuckin’ hog, devilishly handsome, and hilarious? I’m the entire goddamn package.”
“Don’t forget filthy rich.”
Roman shakes his head and bows slightly to you, hand outstretched as if giving you the floor. “And filthy rich. If I could just fuck and marry myself, I would. Now, uh… is your back okay? Got a little… scraped up, yeah? You need some, like, Neosporin or some shit?”
“Yeah, in fact - could you also bring me some Mickey Mouse bandaids, maybe a lollipop? Some stickers? I’m fine, Roman… thanks, though.”
“Show you a fuckin’ lollipop,” Roman mutters, running his hands over his face. He snaps his fingers, fidgety, gesturing toward the door. “Come on, let’s get the fuck outta here. Fuck the papers. I’ll make somebody else finish it tomorrow. I don’t care. Romey tired.”
Roman places a chaste hand at the base of your spine, guiding you through the doors to end the evening. There’s a comfortable silence as you separate, Roman heading for his car while you go off to your own apartment in the opposite direction. Closer to arriving home, your phone dings. Roman’s name shows up and you ignore the tiny wisp of a thrill in your gut at seeing his name there inside your phone, not having reached out first.
Overtime required tomorrow. My shopper will have new tights for you - you’re welcome. Make it worth it. -R

You had never seen the man leaning against the wall behind the camera before. He wore a dark trench coat and a plaid scarf looped around his neck, and unlike everyone else bustling about the set, barking out orders and shoving each other into place, he was entirely calm. In his right hand, he held his phone, scrolling through something on it with his thumb, and in between his teeth was a lollipop — cherry flavored, which you only knew because of the wrapper lying at his feet.
“That’s not Yukimiya, right?” you whispered to the girl who was buttoning up the back of your top.
“Hm?” she said. “No, Mr. Yukimiya hasn’t checked in yet. I have no idea who that is.”
He was tall, with wide shoulders and the type of face that must have been crafted with painstaking detail by someone or another, his features keen, his eyes a brilliant shade of blue so dark they were nearly violet or black. Dark hair fell into darker eyebrows like the ink of a ballpoint pen on a paper-pale forehead, and just above his left cheekbone was a black beauty mark, which changed everything and yet nothing about him.
You supposed he must’ve sensed your gaze lingering on him, for he furrowed his brow and then lifted his chin, scanning the room before his eyes meet yours. He didn’t seem offended by the prying, his lips curling into a smile as he lifted his left hand into a jaunty wave, returning his attention to whatever he was reading on his phone before you could respond in turn or do anything to feel less like you had been caught committing some crime.
“I’m sorry I’m late!”
This must’ve been Kenyu Yukimiya, your partner for the shoot. He was handsome, too, with a harried, windswept appearance to his reddened cheeks and tousled hair; when he grinned at you apologetically, he was entirely reminiscent of a painting from antiquity.
He sat in the chair next to you as the makeup team got to work, applying the faintest touch of product so that he was not entirely washed out by the blinding lights of the cameras in your faces. You returned his smile with one of your own, polite and careful.
“Luckily, the director hasn’t arrived yet, so it’s not a problem,” you said. “Apparently, he’s strict on everyone but himself.”
Yukimiya winced as a heap of clothes was thrown at him and the finishing touches were placed on his chestnut hair. You watched him with amusement, your hands folded in your lap as he was yanked to his feet.
“Guess I got lucky this time, then,” he said, stumbling into the dressing room, the door slamming shut behind him. You stood yourself, stretching your arms and legs with a deep breath, rolling your ankles in the air, alternating as you did so, and then pacing back and forth in an attempt to accustom yourself to the monstrosities that your feet had been shoved into.
The man in the corner didn’t seem affected by the chaos Yukimiya’s appearance had thrown everyone into. You thought you saw something like a snort escape him, but otherwise he was calm — although you noticed he had tucked his phone away and shoved his hands in his pockets, opting to instead observe his surroundings with a soft curiosity.
You turned away before he could shift his attention to you once again, because your pride could not handle being caught by him a second time, and you pretended like you were entirely fascinated with putting one foot in front of the other, walking in a line so straight it was as if it had been drawn with a ruler.
Yukimiya reappeared completely ready a few seconds later, tying the laces of his dress shoes and then joining you at your side, although of course he did not need to practice walking or anything so silly. Like most men, he had been afforded the luxury of comfort; he wasn’t the showpiece of this edition, after all. You were, and so you were the one made up into a spectacle beyond natural ability or attempt.
“Everyone, in your places!” the director shouted as he entered the studio, a steaming cup of coffee in one hand and the other on his hip. He was diminutive in stature and wore a ridiculously feathered hat, but what he lacked in height, he more than made up for in position, so nobody would dare to say that to him, least of all you, who could so easily be replaced.
Still, for one final time, you allowed yourself to look at the man standing all by himself, wondering if he’d offer some reaction to the getup, some indication that you weren’t alone in your feelings. You weren’t sure why it was him who you sought out; perhaps because he, unlike everyone else, was a mystery, an enigma, and so while you could map out without knowing what all the other faces in the room looked like at that moment, you needed to see his to understand it.
He wrinkled his nose into a snicker, shaking his head like he couldn’t quite believe his eyes, and then he took his phone back out of his pocket, maybe to give himself an excuse for laughing. It wasn’t like he really needed an excuse, because no one else was even looking at him, but then again, there was never any harm in caution.
“You’re Y/N L/N, right?” Yukimiya said to you, his hand on your shoulder as you faced the camera, waiting for the director to adjust your stances. “It’s a pleasure. I’m surprised this is the first time we’re actually talking.”
“The pleasure is mine,” you said. “And yes, it’s a wonder we haven’t worked together before, given how frequently I’ve heard your name mentioned. I’m looking forward to it.”
Something about Yukimiya served to enhance everyone he was around, and so, instead of stealing the attention from you, he somehow managed to direct the spotlight so that it shone only on your placid face. You had been expecting the opposite, but you weren’t angry about it; in fact, you couldn’t have been more pleased. It was always the worst thing when your coworker was jostling you out of the way for a few extra seconds in front of the cameras, and you thought to yourself that you’d have to find some way of ensuring you were booked with him more often.
“Amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever been so quickly satisfied by a shoot!” the director said, clapping his hands together and nodding at you both. “Excellent work. I think we can wrap up for the day. I’ll see you two here at the same time tomorrow!”
“Wow,” Yukimiya said as everyone started disassembling the set. “I thought you said he was strict.”
You shrugged as you walked over to the dressing rooms. “I thought he was.”
“Well, we probably shouldn’t complain,” he said. “Between this and practice, my schedule is booked. I have no space to be ungrateful about a little extra time.”
“Very true,” you said. “It’s always nice when things like this end sooner than anticipated. Better than later, anyways.”
The first thing you took off were those excuses for shoes, kicking them under the door for good measure and shoving your feet into a pair of fluffy slippers, wiggling your toes with a sigh. Peeling off every layer you had squeezed into for the sake of the director’s creative vision, you curled up on the bench in only your underwear, sipping on water through a metal straw and staring at the wall, hugging your knees to your chest, lost in thinking about nothing.
Only when you grew cold did you stand, pulling on a sweatshirt three sizes too large and sweatpants that puddled at your shoes, shielding you from the world as you trudged out of the dressing room, wanting to rub your eyes but knowing that you would smear makeup all over the backs of your hands. You settled instead for playing with the thread you had taped to the handle of your water bottle for exactly such an occasion, twirling the loose ends of the meticulous knots in between your fingers idly.
“Ah — L/N!” Yukimiya waved at you as you made your way towards the exit. Unaccustomed to further camaraderie after the end of the workday, you had to fight to keep your expression neutral, and when you noticed the man from earlier was at Yukimiya’s side, the lollipop long gone, you had to fight even harder.
“Is something the matter?” you said.
“No, nothing at all,” he said. “I just figured we might as well walk to the parking garage together, since it’s late and all.”
“I appreciate it,” you said. The studio you were at had only one security guard in its employ, a man that inspired pity more than fear, with a few strands of hair glued into a desperate attempt at a combover and a shirt that was far too thin to be considered professional, so you hadn’t even considered asking for an escort, figuring you would take your chances. Still, the thought of walking alone wasn’t the most appealing, and while you wouldn’t have asked for it yourself, you were glad Yukimiya had offered his company nonetheless.
“Oh! Karasu, this is Y/N L/N. L/N, this is Tabito Karasu,” Yukimiya said as you reached the door and the other man — Karasu — used one black-gloved hand to open it.
“Is he your bodyguard or something? Thank you,” you said, nodding at Karasu for holding the door.
“He wishes,” Karasu said. His voice was rough and deep and sounded like he was perpetually in on some private joke, but you didn’t mind it, not in the slightest. “I’m his roommate — the one with a car, by the way. And a driver’s license. And the time to pick his sorry ass up.”
“What he means is that he offered to stop by on his way home to get me,” Yukimiya said.
“That’s very generous of you,” you said. “Especially considering you were there even before Yukimiya was.”
“Don’t you think? It’s fine, now he owes me one,” Karasu said, his eyes glimmering. “And I intend to collect, of course.”
“He never does anything out of the goodness of his heart,” Yukimiya said with a long-suffering sigh. “You better be careful around him, L/N. Whatever he gives you, he’ll expect the same in return.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” you said, though of course you had no intentions of ever being around Karasu in any way that mattered.
“We play soccer for the Japanese team, you know,” Karasu said. “You should come to one of our games, L/N. I’m sure some of our teammates would be delighted by that. Right, Yuki?”
Yukimiya sighed, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. “If you’re talking about Otoya and Aiku, then yes, but that’s not necessarily a good thing.”
“Not for her, it isn’t,” Karasu said. “For them, sure it is. But I wasn’t talking about those two, anyways.”
“Pardon?” you said.
“Ignore him,” Yukimiya said. “I don’t really know what he’s going on about.”
“It was nice meeting you,” Karasu said, picking up before Yukimiya on the fact that your steps had stuttered to a stop. “L/N, was it?”
He offered you his hand. You took it and shook, arching a brow at the firmness of his grip, which was much more in line with a businessman than a soccer player.
“Yes,” you said. “Karasu? It was nice to meet you as well.”
“Don’t worry,” Yukimiya said, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “I’ll make my other roommate pick me up tomorrow.”
“Otoya?” Karasu said. “Good luck with that. He’ll be late to his own funeral, so don’t think you’re high on his priority list. The only time he comes early is—”
“Karasu,” Yukimiya interjected. “Don’t be crass.”
“Sure, sure,” he said. “See you around, L/N. Or maybe not.”
“See you,” you said, starting your car so that it wasn’t freezing when you got in, deciding it wouldn’t be polite to tack on a definitely not to the farewell and instead opting to stay silent.
“Bye, L/N,” Yukimiya said. “Until tomorrow.”
Although your apartment wasn’t large by any means, it wasn’t small, either, sitting at a comfortable medium that was paid for half by you and half by your brother, who was hardly ever home, anyways, but needed somewhere for his mail to be delivered. He was a free spirit, always traveling: for work, for fun, for women and wine, for anything his heart desired, which left you the entire space to yourself more often than not. People were jealous of you when they found out, but when you sat on the couch alone, a blanket pulled up around your shoulders and a bowl of salad held in between your knees, the television on only to ward away the silence that permeated the room, you wondered what they had to be jealous of.
The next day, you didn’t look for Karasu when you entered the studio, but you knew as you stepped in that he wasn’t there. There was something missing, the room a little brighter without him in the corner, waiting with an unmatched patience for Yukimiya to be done. Yukimiya must’ve made good on his threat, then, to call their other roommate to pick him up, although privately you wondered why he couldn’t just drive himself.
The shoot went even smoother the second day than it had the first, and it was a surprise the director didn’t fall to your feet and grovel at the speed with which you executed his vision. Yukimiya struck that perfect balance of workmanlike and personable, and you were content to play along with him, so all in all things moved with relative swiftness.
When you went to leave, you noticed that Yukimiya was standing by the door on his own, tapping his phone furiously. You were under no obligation to stop, but for some reason, you did, waiting awkwardly for a second before clearing your throat.
“Is everything alright?” you said. He startled, almost dropping his phone as he blinked at you.
“Yes! Yes, it’s fine, it’s just my roommate is a jerk, that’s all. Last night, he told me he was fine with picking me up, but now all of a sudden he’s busy,” he said with a scoff.
“Otoya, right?” you said. Yukimiya cocked his head.
“Yes, how’d you know?” he said.
“Karasu — your other roommate mentioned him yesterday,” you said, correcting yourself so that it didn’t seem like Karasu was someone you paid special attention to. Judging by Yukimiya’s expression, you didn’t think you had been entirely successful in the attempt, which was unlike you. You bit the tip of your tongue so that you didn’t say anything further, waiting for him to respond.
“Right,” he said.
“Why don’t you drive yourself?” you said, crossing your arms and standing beside him, facing the road as he was.
“I can’t,” he said.
“You never learned?” you said. He shook his head, adjusting his glasses self-consciously.
“It’s not recommended I do,” he said. He didn’t elaborate further, but he didn’t have to; you recognized it wasn’t your place and hummed in acknowledgement.
“If you want, I don’t mind taking you,” you said. You didn’t know where Yukimiya lived — for all you knew, it was across the city entirely — but it didn’t hurt to extend your hand like that, especially because you had a sense that he wouldn’t even accept it.
“It’s alright,” Yukimiya said. “Karasu said he’s on his way, since last he checked, Otoya’s in the shower now, for some reason.”
“Oh,” you said. “That’s kind of him.”
“Kind?” Yukimiya said, and then to your surprise, he laughed. “I wish I knew as little about him as you do.”
“Is he a bad person?” you said.
“Not at all,” Yukimiya said. “He’s great. He’s one of my best friends, in fact; it’s just that kind and Karasu rarely if ever go together in the same sentence.”
“How can someone be your best friend if you don’t even think they’re kind?” you said, intrigued by the puzzle Yukimiya had presented you with. The way he spoke of Karasu, it was as if he were some willful spirit that occasionally deigned to lend his aid to those who could bring him some benefit, but the way the two of them treated one another didn’t seem anything like that.
“I don’t know,” Yukimiya said. “If you knew him better, I wouldn’t have to explain this. He’s a hard person to understand, and just when you think you’ve finally got it, he goes and complicates things further.”
“That sounds exhausting,” you said.
“That’s the strangest thing about it all,” Yukimiya said as a car pulled up in front of you both, the hazard lights turning on. “With him, it’s entirely natural.”
Karasu stepped out of the driver’s side, shutting it behind him and joining the two of you on the curb, grinning at Yukimiya in a way that almost felt mocking.
“Told you Otoya wasn’t to be trusted,” he said. “You’re paying for dinner.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Yukimiya said, tossing his bag at Karasu, who caught it without flinching. “Put this in for me.”
“Whatever you say,” Karasu said, opening the back door of the car and throwing the bag onto the floor before slamming it shut and patting the handle for good measure. “Is that everything, your royal highness?”
“Yes,” Yukimiya said. “I’m going to kill Otoya when we get back.”
“Hm,” Karasu said. “Violent.”
“He deserves it,” Yukimiya said. “Bye, L/N. Thanks for waiting with me.”
“It’s not an issue,” you said, especially because you hadn’t done it on purpose, and even if you had, it hadn’t been for him. “I’m glad everything worked out.”
You wanted to say something more, something to Karasu in particular, but you didn’t know what or how. It wasn’t like you knew him — not a little and not at all, as Yukimiya had pointed out, and indeed you had no reason to speak to him in the first place. He wasn’t anything but your coworker’s roommate, so what did he mean to you?
Yukimiya shut his door with a hurried apology about the cold, and then it was just you and Karasu on the curb, and you couldn’t tell why, but the way he looked at you made you think he could hear every thought which was racing through your mind.
“Yukimiya’s right. It’s cold out,” he said. “You should go home now.”
“I’m just about to,” you said.
“Are you?” he said.
“Why are you questioning that?” you said, surprisingly affronted, although he hadn’t said anything insulting. “Of course I am. It’s not like I have anywhere else to go.”
“I’m not questioning anything,” he said. “Drive safely.”
“Wait,” you said. “Will you be here tomorrow?”
“Would you prefer it if I am?” he said.
“I’d prefer it if you answered my questions instead of coming up with more of your own,” you said, which you thought would be met with shock — after all, it was a rare thing that you broke character and said anything that could be perceived as cutting — but was instead received with a snicker.
“Yes,” he said. “I’ll be here tomorrow. Early, if that’s what you want.”
“It doesn’t matter to me,” you said. “Do what you’d like.”
“I think that I will,” he said, and then Yukimiya was rolling down the window, telling him to hurry up, damnit, so he left you behind without another word, the car’s engine purring as they drove away.
You must’ve looked like such a fool the next morning, the final of the shoot, your eyes immediately going to the corner where Karasu had been that first day. It was empty, and despite yourself, your shoulders slumped when you realized that he wasn’t there, which was enough for you to break out of that strange trance. Why had you even hoped in the first place? He had made no indication that he was going to come, and you were old enough to know that hoping and wishing were certain paths to disappointment.
“Do you want me to take you back tonight?” you asked Yukimiya, sitting in a chair beside him as you waited for the director to come. It was a clumsy and roundabout way of getting to what you actually wanted out of him, but the last thing you could do was tell him the truth. What would he say, if he knew why you were actually offering? What would he think of you then?
“Hm? No, it’s fine, Karasu’s already got it. He’s at the gym with Shidou — er, another teammate of ours — right now, but he’ll be done before we are, and the studio’s closer to the gym than our apartment is, so he told me it wouldn’t be any extra trouble,” he said, and you thought he must’ve added those extra details for the sole purpose of seeing what your response to them would be, but then you remembered that Yukimiya wasn’t that kind of person. He was just telling you as a way to fill the time, not to get one over you or anything like that.
“That’s good,” you said. “Convenient.”
“Yup,” Yukimiya said. “My agent told me we’d be doing individual photos today.”
“Huh?” you said. “Oh, right. Yes, I think that’s the case.”
“That’s a shame. I enjoyed working with you,” he said.
“Me, too,” you said, and unlike most times, you weren’t lying when you did. “I’m sure we’ll meet again soon, though. There’s not so many of us our age.”
“True,” he said. “It’s a given.”
“Exactly,” you said.
“Yukimiya! You’re up first!” the director shouted, entering as he always did — like a whirlwind, leaving papers scattered and assistants flustered in his wake.
“That’s my cue,” Yukimiya said with a long-suffering sigh.
“Good luck,” you said, glad that it wasn’t your turn just yet. The shoes you were meant to wear sat innocently before you, about two feet away, and although it was impossible for inanimate objects to be snide, they were quite close to it, glaring at you with their bejeweled straps and their impossible tall heels, tittering between themselves at the thought of the cuts already forming on your ankles, the bandages you’d have to remove in order for those terrors to slide on without fuss.
You set your water bottle on the armrest of your chair, taking up the thread and crossing it over itself in the patterns you had been taught in elementary school. You didn’t have anyone to tie these bracelets around, and you couldn’t wear them yourself, for they’d be cut away almost immediately, but the repetitive motions soothed your mind, distracting you from the red soaking through your white socks.
“L/N!” the director screamed, even though you were sitting right there and could hear him perfectly fine. “Put your damn shoes on and get the hell up here!”
Without Yukimiya there to soften the blow, you were the direct target of all of his anger. Swallowing back every emotion you had ever felt and would ever feel, you bent over and began to rip the nude-colored band-aids, stained rusty at the edges, off. Balling them up and throwing them in the trash, you stood on aching soles and pulled the shoes on, one after another, clenching your teeth and taking off your sweater so that you could waltz over to where the cameras were trained.
“Took you long enough,” the director groused.
“Yes, sir,” you said. “How should I stand?”
“Just put your hands there, and your one leg there,” the director said vaguely, waving his arms about before striking what must’ve been an approximation of the pose he wanted you to take. You did your best to copy it, and the cameras went off, your vision temporarily fleeing and then coming back in spots as the lights faded. “No!”
“No?” you said.
“That’s all wrong! It’s horrible, horrible — you’re not even trying to do what I asked!” he said. “Yukimiya could do it, so why can’t you? Just do this!”
He did the same thing again. You weren’t sure what else you could adjust, but you moved slightly, twisting your torso at a different angle and smiling without your teeth this time. He grunted and motioned for the cameras to go again, but after a few more photos, he groaned, dragging his face over his hands.
“This is horrendous! You look entirely stiff and posed. It’s like you're a mannequin!” he said.
“I don’t — I’m not — what should I fix?” you said, unable to stop nerves from creeping into your voice and jostling it about. As difficult as he was to work with, you knew that the director was a big name in the industry, and if he only had bad things to say about you, then your entire livelihood would be threatened.
“Ugh!” he said, stomping onto the set and grabbing your arm, wrenching it down so hard you were surprised it didn’t dislocate. You chewed on the frayed flesh of the inside of your cheek to keep from yelping, allowing yourself to be pliable as he dragged your leg forward into what he wanted from you. “It’s like you’re a completely different person today! Just disappointing.”
Whatever position he had coerced you into was nothing like the one he had wanted you to imitate, but you refrained from pointing that out, holding it in place while the photographers adjusted their lenses. It was uncomfortable and made the lace lining your collar dig into your throat even more, but at least that served as a reminder for you to be silent.
“That’s enough,” the director said, massaging his temples. “We’re not getting anything more out of you.”
“What?” you said, standing normally, tired of contorting yourself for the impossible-to-please man. “What do you mean?”
“You’re lifeless. I don’t know how you managed to fool me yesterday and the day before, but I see it now. Honestly, if it weren’t for the concerning accusations I’d face, I’d just dig up a grave and pay the families half the royalties. It’d be a cheaper and better performance than whatever you’re giving me,” he said.
“What?” you said again, shame pouring over you, cold in a way that was closer to heat, ringing in your ears and coating your tongue. You couldn’t think of another response, any other way to defend yourself. If he was saying it, then it really was the truth. You swallowed, about to bow your head and shuffle off of the set for good, but then, like a bird in your peripheral vision, you noticed someone standing in the corner.
It was Karasu, and he was muffling a laugh. When he noticed you were looking at him, he dropped his hand from in front of his mouth and jerked his head towards the director, mouthing something that looked suspiciously like get a load of this guy. Your eyes widened, and then you, too, were fighting back a giggle, because you were so tired of the entire charade and your feet hurt and you wanted to go home and sleep for a few hours but this director, this stupid fucking director, couldn’t make up his mind about what he wanted from you. And now your career was ruined and you’d go back to waiting tables and Karasu was standing there, which was ridiculous, because where had even come from? But, then again, did it matter? Because the most amazing thing of all was that he was laughing. The situation was horrible and he was laughing as if it was the most entertaining moment of his life.
“There!”
You cringed as the cameras went off in quick succession, but they were faster than you, and you knew for sure they had caught you before you had cowered away. The director stroked his chin, and then, to your surprise, clicked his tongue in approval.
“Well done,” he said. “That’s the kind of genuine appeal I was looking for. If you can bring more of that to the table, then anyone would be happy to have you.”
You frowned, his sudden switch in mood giving you whiplash. Only seconds earlier, he had been berating you, and now he was praising you? You couldn’t understand what had brought about the change, but you were at least quick enough to not question it.
“Thank you,” you said. “I appreciate the advice. And the opportunity to work with you.”
“I’ll hire you again,” he said, which sounded as much like a threat as it did a promise. “We’ll bring it out of you. Now that I know what you’re capable of, I won’t rest until I’ve perfected it in the way only I can.”
The thought of being perfected by him, molded and shaped and honed, was the most unappealing you had had in a while. You could imagine him tugging your limbs out of their sockets, rearranging them at his leisure, slicing gashes into your skin so that his clothes and accessories sat better, smoother, without unappealing wrinkles or reflections marring their surfaces.
“Thank you,” you said once more. “It’s an honor.”
“Are you alright?” Yukimiya said when you wobbled over to where your shoes and clothes were strewn about.
“I’m fine,” you said, but you weren’t looking at him. Your distracted eyes were following Karasu as he left the studio, your eyebrows knitting together as you tried to ascertain what the point of him even coming inside had been, if he was going to leave without you — without Yukimiya.
He didn’t come for you, a voice in the back of your head, sounding eerily similar to the director’s, said. He came to pick up his roommate, just like he promised he would.
“I can’t believe he chose you as his favorite. Maybe you’ll be his muse for the next few years!” Yukimiya said. The director was known for picking one model to fixate on for an extended period of time. His every project revolved around them, and they were catapulted into unprecedented stardom under his guiding hand, staying there until their retirement. It was everyone’s dream, and you should’ve been happy at the prospect of being next in that line, but when you beamed at Yukimiya, it was fake, the muscles in your mouth straining at the unnatural position you were putting them into.
“Who knows?” you said. “I don’t want to rely on it. It’s not a guarantee.”
“Smart idea,” he said, scrunching up his face. “I’m sorry. I’m used to soccer more than all of this. Everyone’s very…full of themselves.”
“You’re not full of yourself,” you said, shutting the door of your dressing room behind you and calling through it as you changed, hoping to delay him even slightly.
“You’ve never seen me on the field,” he said. “There, everyone’s different. You have to be, if you want to live. Ego’s a form of survival out there.”
“Doesn’t sound much different than modeling,” you said.
“A little different,” he said. “People here are just vain. That’s not the same.”
You hadn’t ever gotten changed so quickly, but in record time, you were swinging your bag over your shoulder and rejoining Yukimiya, who seemed as surprised as you were that you had finished so quickly. After all, you had a bit of a reputation for…sulking? Brooding? You weren’t sure what word they were using for it nowadays, but regardless, your proclivity for sitting in your dressing room in silence was well-known, as much a part of your character as it was a habit.
“You’re not wrong about that,” you said. “But vanity’s a necessary evil, I think. If you want to succeed.”
“Er, right,” he said, standing in place like he was unsure of how to react. “I suppose so.”
When you did not halt but instead kept moving towards the exit, he straightened and hurried after you. You weren’t going very fast, and his strides were so long that he caught up with you before you could even brace for the biting wind that rushed in as soon as you opened the door. The two of you went along in silence, Yukimiya obviously befuddled why you were still with him but too polite to say anything about it, and it was only when you reached the entrance to the parking garage, where a familiar car was waiting, that you allowed yourself to smile.
“Man, talk about an asshole,” Karasu said, stretching like a cat as he got out of the still-running sedan. “That director is a piece of work.”
“Karasu!” Yukimiya reprimanded, which got him nothing but a sly smile from the man in question. “He’s our boss. We can’t say stuff like that about him.”
“He’s your boss,” Karasu corrected. “So you can’t say stuff like that. I can say whatever I want.”
“You’re going to get me fired,” Yukimiya said. “It’s a good thing I have soccer to fall back on, or else I’d be in trouble.”
“Go sit in the car, then, if you want to stay blameless,” Karasu said.
“I will! And you better not bother poor L/N. I don’t want her to have a bad opinion of all of us just because of you,” Yukimiya said, jabbing his finger at Karasu, who raised his hands in the air innocently.
Today, he wore a white windbreaker over a grey shirt, and because he was not wearing gloves, you could see that there were calluses on his palms, standing out pale at the seams of his fingers. You weren’t used to seeing calluses on anyone, not when the few people you met on a semi-regular basis took such diligent measures to prevent them, but now that you were faced with them sans demonization, you found their roughness was warm and friendly, not hideous.
“He was pretty bad,” you mumbled as soon as Yukimiya had shut himself away in the car.
“Yuki, or the director?” Karasu said.
“Don’t be horrible,” you said. “You know who I’m talking about.”
“I can’t believe he compared you to a dead body,” Karasu said.
“That’s not the worst I’ve gotten,” you said. “It took me by surprise because things had been going so well until then, but he was relatively tame, all things considered.”
“Really?” Karasu said.
“Yes,” you said, dropping your voice to a murmur in case anyone was around, not wanting to give yourself a reputation as a whiner. “Once, someone asked me if my mother was a fish, because there was no other explanation for how I was flopping around.”
“That’s rude,” he said.
“It was!” you said. No one had ever listened to you before, least of all with such a benign expression on their face, and you were so starved of it that you could not contain yourself any longer. “Especially because I was standing still, not flopping around or whatever. Honestly, I wanted to ask him if his mother was a fish, because you know what? There was no other explanation for how he smelled!”
“Horrid!” Karasu said, beaming at you. “You should’ve.”
“Oh, no, no, I couldn’t. I shouldn’t even have said it to you,” you said, shaking your head and pressing your hands over your mouth, unsure of any other method of stopping yourself that would be nearly as effective.
“But you did,” he said, zipping up his jacket in a swift movement. “I’ll think of something about myself to tell you in return. Give me a day or two.”
“That’s not why I did that,” you protested. “And we don’t have a day or two, anyways, so you’ll have to do it now or never again.”
“Sure we do,” he said. “We live in the same city, don’t we? I bet our paths will cross. Where do you go grocery shopping?”
“Grocery shopping?” you said.
“Karasu! You’re low on gas!” Yukimiya said, rolling down his window.
“I go to the place across from the park on South 18th Street. Every Thursday after practice,” Karasu said. “Meet all sorts of people there. Never know who I’m going to run into.”
You could picture exactly the store he was talking about; it wasn’t where you typically went, but sometimes, if you were running low on something hard to find, you’d walk the extra few blocks. It was much bigger than the one close to your apartment, after all, and suddenly you wondered if you had seen Karasu there before, if you had seen him ten or twenty times and just not noticed.
“When do you finish practice?” you said, right before he got into his car.
“Lunchtime,” he said. “I’m hungry more often than not.”
“It’s not good to shop for food when you’re hungry,” you said.
“Then I’ll have to do something about it before I do,” he said. “Well, it depends. Only if I have good company.”
You didn’t realize until you were halfway home what he meant by that, and by then it was too late for you to change your mind — not that you would’ve. Not that you needed to. He wasn’t holding you to anything, even though you knew as well as he did that you would be there; still, ultimately it was your decision. Your choice.
That was a strange characteristic of his, one that Yukimiya hadn’t mentioned. Karasu didn’t ask for things; he didn’t command them, either. He only made suggestions, nudging you along until you reached the destination that he wanted you to arrive at. You had never met a person quite so adept at it, at presenting choices and questions as disguises for inevitabilities, at guiding people’s thoughts so precisely. It would’ve been unsettling coming from anyone else, but from him, it was natural. It was how he operated. Who were you to chafe at it when that was simply who he was?
The grocery store was large, but they never changed their layout, so you knew where everything was familiarly and without checking the signs. You didn’t have anything to shop for, so you decided to wander the aisles, thinking that if something caught your eye, you’d buy it without further consideration.
You found yourself staring at a bag of oranges, a bright red 50% Off! sticker slapped right on the netted packaging. Swallowing, you reached for it, but before you could, someone snatched them away, holding them in the air teasingly.
“I thought you shouldn’t shop for food when you’re hungry,” Karasu said. “And might I add, what a coincidence it is, seeing you here!”
“I’m not hungry,” you said, taking the oranges back and holding them to your chest protectively. “And I wasn’t looking for you.”
“I didn’t say that you were,” he said. “I distinctly recall saying that it was a coincidence we even met, in fact. Anyways, maybe you’re not hungry, but I am, so I should be off. Meals to eat, shopping lists to plan…it’s a busy life I have.”
“Sounds mundane,” you said. “Sorry.”
“Don’t be,” he said. “You’re right. That reminds me! Before I go, what is it that should I tell you?”
You couldn’t deny that that was the real reason for why you had come to the grocery store — what was he going to reveal? For as much as he knew about you, you knew frighteningly little about him, and now that you were faced with a chance to learn what kind of person he really was, you didn’t want to let it leave your grasp.
“Whatever you want,” you said. He plucked the oranges from your grasp again, and before you could complain, set them at the bottom of the small basket he held in his arms.
“How about this? I knew you were going to go for the oranges,” he said.
“How?” you said.
His eyes sparkled as he leaned closer to you, and you suddenly remembered Yukimiya’s warnings. Whatever you thought you knew about Karasu, it was likely only half or maybe a quarter the truth. Really, he was shifting and cunning, a fox and a crow, far from comprehension, not a danger but not kind, either.
“I’ll answer if you tell me something else about yourself,” he said.
“Why are you acting like I’m entering some kind of contract with a devil?” you said.
“I’m not a devil,” he said. “Just Karasu. My teammates think I’m a great guy, if the recommendation sets you at ease.”
“It sounds more like you’re trying to blackmail me,” you said. He shook his head.
“Couldn’t it be said that you’re doing the same? You’re asking questions about me and expecting that I answer when you have no intentions of reciprocating,” he said.
You pouted, because when he put it like that, he wasn’t wrong, and it wasn’t that you didn’t trust him — because you did. You trusted him more than you should’ve, considering how guarded you had learned to become.
“I have an older brother,” you said. “He’s overseas right now. I don’t think he’ll be back for a while.”
“I have an older sister,” Karasu said. “Maybe they know each other.”
“Probably don’t,” you said. “Also, you didn’t answer my question.”
“I guess I didn’t,” he said, reaching around you to take two boxes of cereal off of a shelf. “Try again.”
“My parents didn’t want me to be a model,” you said. “They thought I should be a teacher. I’m good at it. Children like me.”
“I was going to go into investment banking,” he said. “Or consulting. One of those such fields. Maybe I still will, but soccer is fine for now.”
This was a game for him, you realized. Like tennis, but better, and so, instead of being irritated, you decided you might as well indulge it. It had been so long, anyways, since the last time you had spoken to someone freely, without concern for what they might spread about you, whose ears they would whisper your secrets in just to get one or two steps ahead.
“I threw a dress at a designer’s face once,” you said. “He didn’t like the shade of lipstick I was wearing, even though he was the one that picked it. The only reason my reputation wasn’t ruined was because he ended up liking the way the lipstick turned up digitally and promised not to say anything about it if I allowed them to use my photos after all.”
Karasu laughed, opening the doors to the fridge and taking out milk, stacking it neatly in the basket. You weren’t sure when the two of you had begun shopping in earnest, but it seemed he had forgotten about his plans to eat lunch.
“In high school, my teammate pissed me off, so I made sure to shove him around extra when we tried out for a nearby youth team. It made him look so inept that he didn’t make the cut,” he said, taking an abandoned cart and depositing his things in it, motioning for you to put your purse in as well.
“That’s mean!” you said, but it was hard to disguise the fact that you, too, were laughing. “You’re mean.”
“His fault. He should’ve played better, anyways,” Karasu said. “I had been helping his sorry ass out for too long. He would’ve been cut regardless. You could say I just…expedited the process.”
“I’m the only one in my family who still wishes my brother happy birthday,” you said. “He’s a disappointment in everyone else’s eyes, but he lets me live with him and pays his share of the bills, so how can I disown him?”
“Between the two of us, my sister is the perfect one, so I’m afraid I can’t relate. Vanilla or hazelnut?” he said without skipping a beat. Before you could even answer, he face-palmed. “Oh, wait, Otoya hates hazelnut. I’ll get that so he doesn’t mistake it for his own.”
“I used to be a waitress,” you said. “Before I was a model. It was a lot less glamorous of a career. I don’t think my feet ever recovered from it.”
“I’m sure those shoes that you were forced into for your last job didn’t help any,” he said. “They looked inhumane.”
“They were,” you said, your ankles panging at the reminder, still inflamed and angry as they were. “Though I think anyone would’ve suffered with them on. I doubt the designer had human anatomy in mind when making them; I haven’t bled like that in a while.”
“They made you bleed?” he said. You hummed.
“Yeah,” you said, seeing no point in lying. Who would he tell? Who would even believe him? “Fashion over function, right? It was only for a few photos. They’ll be healed so quickly I’ll forget I had them in the first place. Enough about me, though. Tell me something else about yourself.”
“I sprained my wrist playing soccer as a kid,” he said. “It was a long time ago, but even now, I can feel it when it rains.”
He still hadn’t answered your original question, and you didn’t think he would, not until you offered him something of equal or greater value. But what did you have like that? What aspect of your silly life held enough weight that it would make someone like Karasu, always so ready with his wit and his charm, willing to part with something he clearly deemed to be a secret?
“I’m lonely,” you said, turning away from him, pretending to be fascinated with comparing two different brands of yogurt, neither of which you would buy. “You’ll laugh, but I think this is the longest conversation I’ve had with someone outside of work since my brother last came home. It’s nice, surprisingly. Talking to you and all. I like it.”
Or maybe you just liked him. You couldn’t really separate the two. Either way, it remained that ever since you had met Karasu, you could not conceive of a time when you had not known him, a time when you had gone home to your empty apartment and watched your empty shows and eaten your empty salads and thought you were satisfied by it all. You doubted he knew he had this effect, and you certainly wouldn’t be the one to tell him — after all, he’d probably be frightened if he found out that you had, in such a short time, grown so attached to him and his games and his conduct.
“The oranges,” he said. “You tried to buy them the first time I saw you.”
“What?” you said. Now it was his turn to avert his eyes and yours to watch him in fascination, finding it far easier to stomach a secret than to spit it out.
“It was a long time ago, but it was definitely you,” he said. “It was a Thursday, and I was just coming back from practice; this grocery store is far from my apartment but close enough to the field that, when Otoya — he was sick, so he had skipped that day — texted me that we were out of bread, I decided I’d make the detour. I wasn’t planning on staying here long, but right when I was about to leave, I saw you. You only had a packet of instant noodles and a bag of oranges in your hands. They were on sale back then, too, but—”
“But I had to put them back,” you finished for him, remembering that day as well as he did, albeit not his role. “Because I didn’t have enough money to get them, even when they were 50% off.”
“Yes,” he said. “I left before you noticed me, but I always — I always wish I hadn’t. I kept making the trip here, doing my shopping every Thursday at the same time until it became ingrained in me like routine, and I told myself if I ever saw you again, I’d buy them for you.”
“I can buy my own oranges now,” you said.
“I know,” he said. “That wasn’t the only reason I came back each week.”
“Why else?” you said.
“Well,” he said. “I can’t just tell you everything in one go like that, can I?”
You scoffed. “You can.”
“But I won’t,” he said.
“But you won’t,” you said with a sigh. “Anyways. So you knew me even before we met?”
“I knew of you,” he corrected you. “Though not as a model. Just as an absurdly beautiful girl I saw in a supermarket once and thought about occasionally.”
“So it was a coincidence that you happened to be at that shoot?” you said, raising an eyebrow at him.
“When Yukimiya told us about the girl he’d be working with, Otoya looked you up,” he said. “And despite how long it had been since you last crossed my mind as well as how much longer it had been since the only time I saw you in the flesh, I recognized you immediately.”
“You have a good memory,” you said.
“So I’ve been told,” he said. “I didn’t go with any strange intentions, if you’re wondering. I only wanted to know what kind of person you actually were.”
He wasn’t a typical admirer, taken with your celebrity or your status. He was curious, not about Y/N L/N the model, but you, the girl he nearly met in a grocery store so long ago it was all but inconsequential. You wondered what it said about you that instead of being wary, you only felt all the more inclined to reveal yourself to him. You wondered if this was some lack of self-preservation, as your brother would declare it, or if this was an innate knowledge, an instinctual understanding that the man before you was different.
Maybe he was or maybe he wasn’t. You didn’t know, and maybe, on some level, you didn’t care. Taking his hand, you set it on the bag of oranges, placing your own atop it firmly, your thumb tracing his scratched knuckles.
“Buy them for me,” you said. “And I’ll tell you who I am, plainly and without fuss.”
“Is that what you consider a good deal?” he said. “I’d say you’re a bit more valuable than a discount bag of oranges.”
“Do you think so?” you said. “Fine, then. The oranges, and a pack of instant noodles.”
“Closer,” he said. “But I’m a fair person. I can’t accept.”
“You,” you said, all in a rush. “The oranges, the noodles, and you. That’s my final offer. I’ll give you everything if you give me that much.”
He didn’t even pretend to consider it. You thought that it must’ve been what he was waiting for all along, what he had been, in that way of his, leading you towards.
“You’re a tough bargainer,” he said.
“So you agree to it?” you said.
“Sure,” he said, and when he noticed your face falling at the noncommittal nature of his acceptance, he laughed. “Yes. Yes, yes, I agree. The oranges, the noodles, and me; you can have all three as you please.”
And it was odd, but just for a moment, the reprieve lasting only for as long as his breathy chuckle, your feet ceased to ache.

White Hot Rage
Tumblr media
Word count 1K. Rated teen for minor violence and swearing. Gen fic, no intended shipping.
Summary: The island is behind them, but sometimes it feels like they never left. Simon’s trying to relax a bit, it’s kind of hard at the hospital he and the other boys have been placed in for now. So, he decided some reading might be nice. Then he hears Jack’s voice, acting like nothing’s happened.
Also posted on AO3 (preferred layout)
It was unusually cold for spring. Which, for the first time made Simon glad for being in the hospital with all the other boys.
He clutched his sweater a bit more flush to him. They had free time now, and while the other boys had chosen to play in their small cliques, Simon needed some time alone. He’d read, he decided, grabbing a copy of Catcher in the Rye -Ralph and Peter had told him about it, he couldn’t remember exactly what it was about, only that the two older boys adored it- and sit in a quiet enough corner.
“Simon!”
The shrill voice cut him like a knife. His arms tightening unwillingly.
“Come over here,” Jack ordered with a smile. A kind of crooked smile that confused you, a kind that felt less comforting than a glare, and made you wonder what the behind it.
Despite it all, Simon felt his legs move, almost on autopilot, “Erm,” he swallowed harshly, “Yes?”
Jack stared. That same smile plastered on his face in a lame attempt at camaraderie.
“Just dropping by, couldn’t find you.”
Jack closed the gap of space, wrapping an arm around his shoulder as an old friend would. Though, they were old friends, Simon supposed.
He took a breath to try and contain composure, “Do you need anything?” Doing his best to not let his fear seep through. Keep civil.
Jack let out a lone laugh, answering playfully, like it was nothing, just small conversation, “Do I need a reason to want to see my old mate?”
Simon stood there dumbly, “Do,” The words felt caught in his jaw, “Do you need anything?”
His tongue clicked, “Well,” he let go of Simon’s arm, and pulled a crumpled piece of paper out of his pocket, “My mum gave me some old sheet last visit. The piece sounds horrific alone. Thought we could do it together, for old time’s sake, you know?”
Simon blinked, he tried his best to not meet Jacks gaze. “Sorry,” He twisted his face into an approximation of a smile, “I’m just, tired. Really, really tired. Maybe you could do it with Roger? I know you two are good friends.”
Jack frowned, “me and Roger, were both first tenors. Our voices are too similar, it defeats the purpose of even having two parts.”
“I’m a tenor too, we all are.”
“Yeah but you’re a tenor two. Your voice is a little deeper, the contrast is better.”
Simon’s grin started to falter. He started playing with his sleeves subconsciously, the corners of his mouth twitching. He tried to think of what to do, what to say, but his mind was going a thousand miles a minute. His mouth felt too dry all of a sudden. He couldn’t breathe. He felt like he was going to vomit. His head was going to explode.
“Sorry,” He forced another polite, toothy grin, “I have to go.”
He turned as fast as he could. His blood was rushing in his ears. He wanted to run but he knew he couldn’t. If Simon ran he’d notice. He was like some kind of animal. He’d smell his fear, he’d strike once he did just because he could. Simon was some kind of mouse. He was fragile. An easy target, and as he dragged his feet down the hall, he knew that information. It was as ever present and real or true as the motion of the earth or the clouds in the sky.
“Oh come on Simon, we’re friends.”
Everything felt dizzy.
“Talk to me!”
One foot in front of the other.
“Don’t be such a girl about it.”
Ignore him.
“Oh come on. What do you think I’m gonna do?”
Simon froze in place. He wouldn’t.
Jacks steps came closer, and Simon couldn’t move. Jack’s voice was dangerously close, “What are you scared of?”
He couldn’t. A hand clapped onto Simon’s shoulder.
“Think I’ll take out the other eye?”
He didn’t know how it happened. It felt like he wasn’t even moving, like some omniscient force was puppeteering him, telling him what to do. He felt the harsh slam of his fist into Jacks face, heard the crunch of his nose, smelt the blood. But still, it felt like he wasn’t there. Not really at least. It was like autopilot. Like something greater than him, or maybe in him, taking over.
Like an animals instinct.
“What the fuck Simon?!” Merridew voice rang out as he gripped his nose, “Have you gone completely fucking mad?!”
And lord, maybe he had. But if Simon was the plague, Jack was the rat who caused it. His heart was absolutely pounding. He was going to explode. Christ his heart was going to pound so hard that it’d stop and he’d explode.
He felt himself duck and run at Jack, positioning his head to his stomach and knocking him down.
Simon knew he was making some kind of noise, screaming something, profanity and gibberish and yelling and nothing and he didn’t know what it was. He just beat. And beat. And beat and beat and beat.
There was a white hot rage inside him, burning like coal in a train and keeping his hands going and going and going.
His face was wet and hot and his throat was sore and he just. Couldn’t. Stop. He felt his hands pummel into Jacks face and stomach and neck and arms for everything he did and everything he didn’t.
For treating him like an afterthought, for not even noticing him until he needed something, for speaking over him, for calling him crazy, for that forsaken night. That night where Simon was trying his best. He was trying to save them. He was run rugged from the woods and the starvation and that stupid, stupid pigs head. For making him stay quiet with threats and all his snide comments. And perhaps most of all, for going up to him like nothing bloody happened and trying to fix the gaping wound of their friendship with a used bandaid.
He hated him. And hated, and hated and hated.
He felt the tug of adults on his arms. Holding him back and trying to restrain his small form. His eye was blurred and wild from crying, and everything was a blurry haze. He felt like he was still practically shaking from all of that rage and anger buried and bursting inside of him.
And then he saw.
For the first time in the last few minutes he could see, and lord, he saw.
Jacks bloodied nose, his bruised arms.
Simon wasn’t able to do much damage, all of it would heal soon, but he saw. He looked at Jack in bloody and in vulnerability. And he saw his fault. That feeling of uncontrollable anger gave way and in its place: horror.
For in that moment, Simon knew he’d attacked Jack, truly attacked him, like he’d attacked him. Right then, right there, being pulled away screaming and sobbing, steeped in guilt and shame, Simon knew that in some way, he was now to blame. Simon knew, that truly, he was now the beast.
“I’m sorry.”

It's been so long
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
Hello my beauties, I was looking through my inbox and saw around like 9 people asking for a Phil Wenneck fic and I rewatched all 3 hangover films and this idea came to my head, my 500 follower special is still in the world as I want it to be perfect. I've wrote this in like 4 hours and only skimmed it so if there any spelling mistakes ignore them- love you 😘
warnings- 2009!Phil wenneck x y/n Y/l/n, (he's single and has no kid either), swearing, mentions of underage drinking, pet names, p!inv!, sub/readerxdom/Phil,
words- 7.9k
Tumblr media
"Dylan are you ready?" I called waiting next to the front door, swining my car keys around my finger "Dyl come on you're gonna make us late and mom will kill me if we are late!" I yelled losing my patients
"I'm here" he spoke coming down the stairs "why don't you just don't tell them we were late" I hummed actually taking in his idea
"good idea- well anyways come on" I answered getting into the car. I started the engine and began the short drive to his school, the roads were busy and that meant that was making us later and later
"god- when's your meeting?" I spoke turning to my little brother
"erm.. 5:45pm" he said after looking at a sheet of paper that he pulled from his pocket "and its now...5:45 Y/n"
"Shit-" I spat "oh sorry Dylan" he laughed as I slapped a hand over my mouth "well lets just hope this doesn't take much longer"
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
finally after another 15 minutes we made it, hurriedly we walked into the school, Dylan had my hand pulling me through corridors until we made it to room 7L and he knocked on the wood "come in" a voice sounded and Dyl pushed the door open "ah Dylan, you're here!"
"Hello sir" my brother smiles going towards a small chair put out in front of a desk "this is my sister, Y/n" I followed behind him and placed my hand bag on the floor before turning to face the teacher
"hi, I'm so sorry that we're late the traffic was ter-"
"Y/n?" the mans voice cut me off "Y/n Y/l/n?" even in heals I wasn't as tall as him, so as my eyes met his face I knew who it was straight away
"Oh my god Phil- I can't believe it!" I laughed, I knew Phil all through school, from Pre-k to collage, and he hadn't changed a bit since we had left, chiseled jaw, sun kissed skin, his brown short hair flowing effortlessly around his face and a smile that was always imprinted on his lips "you haven't changed a bit Wenneck" I spoke as we pulled from a hug
"Neither have you Y/n- you look great- erm please take a seat" he grinned as he took a seat behind his own desk "woah- well Dylan it's great to see you for the second time, and also you Y/n, great to see you again too"
"how do you two know each other?" My brother inquired giving me a confused look
"Me and Mr Wenneck went to school together, well we basically grew up together, he was one of my best friends" I answered shooting the man a smile, Dylan nodded getting a grin across his face
"okay well- lets look at everything shall we?" Phil pulled open a folder and his finger traced down the page and then tapped "here, so Dylan by the looks of things you are doing amazing in all classes with b+'s and some A's which is great for a boy your age..which is 9 but 10 In a few weeks if I'm right?" Dylan excitedly nodded, a cheesy smile coming across his lips, my hand patted his shoulder seeing his smile grow bigger "and your behaviour... no detentions, or warnings this year little man, much better then when your sister was in school" he joked
"excuse me- you were a lot worse then me, remember what you did to Jake that day?" I asked raising my eyebrow
"he had that coming, but I wont say much more, need to professional" I shook my head laughing at him as we both remembered the day in high school-
_____ 12th grade (1992) _____
Me, Sasha, Lauren, Stu, Phil and Doug sat in the bleachers laughing about whatever random things we could think off "and what about that time Lauren fell over the curb when we went to that party?" Stu laughed getting a slap from the red head
"I was drunk okay- and like 15 so that doesn't matter" she angrily spoke trying to stop the smile from going on her lips. the six of us kept talking while we sipped on our drinks we brought from the lunch hall. Soon the break was over and we all went to head back in, I stood up, straightened my skirt around my legs and fixed my top around my shoulders, and grabbed my bag from the seat in front of me
"Nice rack Y/l/n!" I herd a voice call from the bottom of the steps, I stood straight back up covering my front with my hand and my eyes immediately locked with those of Jake Casey "its alright babe don't need to hide them from me- oh and nice panties too girls, down there had a great view- didn't it boys" he joyed blowing me a kiss as the three guys around him shared a laugh
I quickly stopped down the steps, coming face to face with the creep "what did you just say?" my voice was low as I got into his face, his friends oh'ed; clapping there hands
"I said-" Before he could even finish his sentence my hand slapped across his face "Ow! what the fuck is wrong with you!" I went to walk away until the feeling of his hand fixed on mine "don't you walk away now bitch" he seethed, his other hand wrapped around my waist pulling me onto his body
"Let go of me you perv" I yelled, desperately trying to free myself, but in an instant, Jake lay helpless on the ground, his grip on me replaced by Phil looming over him like a dark storm. Soon Phil's fists crashed into Jake's body relentlessly, each punch harder then the last, and those three friends from before were not to be seen as the dashed across the field to get away from Phil who wasn't stopping his beating
"don't- you- ever- fucking- do- that- again" he warned as he hit the boy again
"OKAY, OKAY, I'M SORRY!" A shattered voice pleaded, but the brunette remained unrelenting. "PLEASE, GET OFF!" we all watched as Stu and Doug forcibly tore Wenneck away from the now bloodied and battered man. quickly Jake pulled himself up whipping around and running off to join his group who were half way across the track. Phil backed off, dusting himself from the dirt that lay on his jeans and fixed his sun glasses to begin back on his head
"Thanks Phil," we said in unison as we approached, the two girls going to stand with Stu and Doug as they talked about what had just happened. "You okay?" I asked, brushing his arm where he had a faint red mark.
"I'm fine. How about you?" he replied, his concern evident. I nodded, showing him the small mark on my wrist. "Does it hurt?"
"No, I'm okay... Thanks for stepping in again," I said again, I got the feeling like it was just the two of us in that moment, drawing closer, Phil's hand landing softly on my waist the warmth overpowering the heat from the Los Angeles sun. "I—" I started, but Stu interrupted with his usual humour.
"Come on, you two! We'll be late if you start a love story now after all these years!" he joked, pointing at us "flirt after class is done" I couldn't help the red from painting my face as the whole group fell into a laugh
"Shut up, Price," Phil said, rolling his eyes as he put his arm around my shoulders instead of my waist, pulling me closer in a simple yet meaningful gesture.
_____ end of flashback _____
"and Dylan- how are you finding school?" Phil asked, grabbing a pen off his desk looking back to him with a warm smile
"good- I have lots of friends and a girlfriend!," Phil oh'd looking to me as a we laughed " and I like my lessons, and I'm in the soccer team!" he talked "and the homework is okay, Y/n helps me a lot because she's smart"
"stop it" I laughed scruffing the young boys fluffy hair
"well that sounds good then, I have some of your books here for you Y/n if you want to have a look through and also his end of year report" I grabbed the small pile of books from the mans hand and began looking through while listening to the two talk about soccer and things, I looked to the page with the title 'my family' and saw a family tree scribbled with crayons and our faces drawn in: Mom, Dad, me, him, Grandma, Papa, our cousins and aunties and uncles too.
"Dylie your work is really good!, especially your family tree, you've got everyone!" I cheered. After I finished looking through all the pages I set them back on the desk and Phil finished up his convocation with Dylan
"is there any questions you have Y/n?" He asked looking to me, his face warm
"I don't think so, I mean he's doing great and thats all I can really ask for, he seems to have a good teacher too" I spoke seeing Phil smirk at me shaking his head
"great, that ends this then- Dylan, Y/n thank you for coming to see me and I'll see you on Monday little guy, and don't forget the trip money" Phil stuck his hand out to my brother who's little hand shook it back and I watched as the blonde waved walking to the door
"Y/n! Sam's out there can I go say hi?" he asked excitedly looking to his friend out side the window
"sure" I replied seeing him hurriedly open the door, he shouted a quick good bye to 'Mr Wenneck' and quickly left us behind in the class room "again sorry for being late Phil- just everywhere seemed to be busy" I laughed grabbing my bag from the floor and placing it on my shoulder then getting Dylans report off the table
"its fine don't worry- you two were my last appointment anyways, and as its you I don't mind either" he smiled coming round the front of his desk and leaning against it "but honestly Dylan is a great kid, I don't even like teaching but kids like him make it worth it you know" I nodded listening to him
"I never thought you be a teacher you know, I mean you hated school" he laughed rubbing the bridge of his nose
"Yeah I know but life happened" he said looking back to me "erm well I was wondering- do you wanna go out for dinner tomorrow?" I was a little taken back, in a good way though "it's fine if not, but we could have an actual catch up you know? I mean I haven't seen you since we were 20 ish and were now old "
"thank you very much for reminding me- but yeah what time?" I agreed, I watched as a smile spread along is face
"I'll come pick you up at 8?" I nodded "cool well erm- I'll see you tomorrow Y/n" he stood up leading me to the door, before I left I pulled him into another hug
"see you tomorrow" I whispered before letting go and walking out to grab Dylan who was happily chatting to his friend and his mom "hi Carol" I waved
"hey sweetie, how'd it go?" she asked
"good, Dylans doing really good- how's sam doing?" she shook her head and her smile dropped "oh"
"I got told he beat up another kid the other day- I don't know what to do, I mean when Charlie was younger he was nothing like this, and I remember when you were little and your little friends, you guys were never in fights- well not when you were 9! but Sam always is" her voice was full of anger
"mh, It's very odd- must be something triggering him" I spoke
"maybe I'll take him to see your mom when she's back, she's a therapist so maybe she can get to the bottom of it" Carol laughed "aways we must get off- Samual come on" the two boys said their goodbye and we walked out
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
"Night Dyl" I whispered leaving his room, I walked down the stairs to the living room, falling onto the couch and flipping on the tv to a random channel, I couldn't get over that Phil was teaching my little brother, my old best friend teaching my brother... life was weird. It reminded me, I needed to get someone to Have Dylan over the weekend, I knew he would enjoy staying at our grandparents so I picked up my phone and began calling my Grandma
"hello Rosie" she answered
"hi Grandma, how're you?"
"good poppet, is everything okay?"
"yes thank you, I was just wondering if it was okay if you had Dylan tomorrow night please? I met up with an old friend, well actually do you remember Phil?"
"Oh yes Phil Wenneck, of course how could I forget Philly! he was always with Doug, Stu, you, Sasha and Lauren wasn't he" I hummed agreeing
"well I found out he's Dyls teacher! and were going out for a catch up tomorrow night"
"aw thats lovely, of course we can have Dylie, Sofia and Ryan are sleeping tomorrow so its no issue"
"thank you so much, I'll bring him at about 5:30 if thats okay"
"yep thats fine, see you tomorrow lovie"
"night, love you" I came off the phone and saw a dot on my messages, I clicked on seeing -Phil- 1 new message-
'Hey Y/n, just checking (and I hope this isn't weird) are you at your moms house, just I know you're watching Dylan for the two weeks, he was telling me x'
'Hi Phil, yeah I'm here, and bless him I had a feeling he'd be telling everyone, he was saying we were gonna throw a party and everything x' I answered
'I mean if they were anything like your parties, I'm coming x' I laughed
'yeah gonna sing bah bah black sheep with the kids? x'
'of course, it's my favourite song x' I rolled my eyes
'I bet- see you tomorrow Wenneck x'
'night x'
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
"thank you so much again for having him Grandma, papa" I crouched down pulling my brother into a hug "I'll come get you tomorrow, go have fun and I'll call after okay, before bed" he nodded hugging me back then running to play with our little cousins "see you later" I hugged my grandparents then quickly drove back home to shower and get ready for seeing Phil.
I decided on a black dress, it wasn't to much, just around my thighs, some black heals, smokey dark make up and a dark red lip, my hair straightened down my back and some silver jewellery. I sprayed L’Interdit Rouge and grabbed my bag and threw it over my shoulder
I went into my kitchen, hurriedly pouring myself a glass of water and chugging the glass trying to suppress the anxiousness I felt rising in my stomach. The sound of the door bell rang through the hall and into the kitchen, I took one more deep breath before walking and opening up the door. I pushed the handle down and pulled the door open
"Hi Phil" I sounded as my eyes met him, he was dressed in a black suit which blended into the night perfectly, it fit his figure amazingly, hugging his muscles in all he right ways, his button up was only done up to the third one and the last two were left open showing of his toned chest, my eyes reached his face, his hair messed graciously behind his head and his sun glasses perched on his head "you look amazing" I spoke not realising I had been staring doe eyed for what felt like a life time
"I could say them same- look at you" he smiled "oh I brought you these" from behind his back he pulled out a bunch of roses, blood red- my favourites
"Phil! you didn't have too- these are beautiful!" I giggled like a child being given a lollipop
"almost as beautiful as you" I herd him chirp, my gaze snapped back to him
"careful" I laughed "come in, I'll grab a vase for these" I walked away hearing him follow behind after shutting the door
"god this place hasn't changed at all- holy shit I feel 17 again" he breathed coming into the kitchen "Its the place I first took a shot how about that" he reminisced
"yeah mom kept basically everything the same though she was going to change it all, then Dylan was born in 2000 and then she just kept it this way" he hummed leaning agains the kitchen counter
"how come your mom had Dylan- is that a weird thing to ask?...I- you don't have to answer that" he awkwardly laughed
"oh well Mom and Dad divorced erm 97' as you know, and mom got with this guy called Michel and then accidentally got pregnant, and we didn't know if he would make it because obviously mom was a lot older then most women who have children but they both made it and Dyls 10 soon" I explained
"oh wow, your moms a strong lady so I get why she made it through, I think thats why I was really shocked to see you yesterday because his name isn't Y/n/l Its Lee"
"yeah, I mean I didn't even know you were his teacher because he only ever called you Mr W or Sir" I spoke "and mom wouldn't have actually met you because this was his first parent teacher thing huh"
"yeah, anyways not that this isn't great we need to get going" he spoke checking his watch "so if you please" I walked towards the man and linked my arm with his as he led us out the house. Phil pulled open the passenger door for me and I gently settled myself into the leather seat, I watches as he went over to his side and slid in "ready?"
"Mhm" I smiled as we began our drive
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
The car stopped at a restaurant with the name 'Le Rouge', The two of us stepped out the car and immediately my arm hooked on his "wow this looks- beautiful" I breathed. The door was opened by a tall man who shot us a quick smile as we stepped through the threshold. To say I was taken back was an understatement, a soft, red glow washes over the space, enveloping it in an aura of intimacy. The dim lighting, like flickering candlelight, shone a warm hue. The décor, a careful balance of simplicity and refinement, features rich dark wood accents and sumptuous red velvet curtains that drape gracefully, adding to the sultry, moody ambiance.
"Good evening Sir, Madam- how may I help?" a sweet looking girl cooed, her hands quickly grabbing a paper that lay in front of her
"hi, I have a booking should be under the name Wenneck" the girl nodded checking down the paper until her eyes seemed to find the name
"okay- if you two would like to follow me" the blonde began trotting through the many tables full of customers until she stood next to a small dark wood table for two, one candle and flower sat as the centre piece and two menus lay in our places "Erin will be your waitress tonight, and she'll be over soon to take your orders but would you like to get started on drinks?" Phil looked over to me giving me a quick nod telling me to go first, hastily I lifted the drinks menu from the side and scanned the paper
"I'll have a....Cabernet Sauvignon please" I answered seeing her write it down quickly, I turned to look back to the man sat across from me who's eyes flickered down the same menu as me
"make that a bottle and two glasses please" soon the girl disappeared with our orders "so what do you think?" Phil asked, his gaze landing back on me
"you've out done yourself Wenneck, it's gorgeous in here- I bet this place is really expensive though so I can pay-" before I could even finish the brunette chirped rolling his blue eyes at me
"shut up- I asked you out. I pay. let me treat you, I haven't seen you in years so this is the least I can do for making up for the fact that you haven't seen my face in so long" he smirked fluttering his eyes
"oh yeah of course" I laughed pulling my chair in closer "so, how have you been since I last saw you, and I don't mean from just yesterday" I gave a warning look hearing him titter
"well, we all left school I was going to work with dad in the car place but we got into this huge argument and he said I was choosing the 'easy way out' so I proved him wrong and became a teacher, then I got a job at Dylans school in 2007, been working there since, but erm I was with this girl after we left school- her name was Shannon but erm she cheated on me and I haven't actually been with anyone in god 6 years this year" the man sadly laughed "but you know I'm doing okay, I have a home and a job so thats all that matters" without really thinking about it my hand reached across the table taking his softy, I watched as his sad smile got replaced with a warm one, his eyes growing softer "what about you, what have I missed?"
"ah well- we left school obviously and I started working for a few people as a PA, worked on a few sets during like 2004 and 5, but it wasn't really enough money so changed and stared working at this bank place 2 years ago. I can't say I love it but I bought an apartment West Hollywood but I've taken the next 2 weeks of to watch Dylan but I'm looking for a new job again, hopefully back on the PA thing because I enjoyed that" he nodded, listening to every word "I was also with a guy, Jackson for a good few years but we broke up on my birthday actually, he said he was bored and needed a 'new spark' so I guess I wasn't that interesting to him" I chuckled, I looked down to my one intwined hand, the feeling of Phil's soft padded thumb swiped on my skin
"who needs those people though, I don't doubt that one day a good guy will see you and think 'damn, she's beautiful, talented, interesting, funny, beautiful'"
"you said that twice" I spoke in almost a whisper
"Its because I mean it" I felt my face heat up a ferocious red colour, before I could say anything else a wine bucket was placed onto our table and two glasses placed with it "ah thank you" Phil spoke with a smile, our hands broke away leaving mine cold. "do you want some?" the blue eyed man spoke, his voice filling my ears bringing me back to reality, I hummed holding my glass to him, the work popped and soon the red liquid began to flow into the glass until it nearly reached the rim, he filled his own then steadily placed the bottle back on the ice "to old friendships" his hand clenched around the neck of the glass, lifting it up
"to old friendships" I cheered, I let the wine cool my throat, taking all the red blush away with it, I could still feel the pricing blue gaze watching me over the table, not in a menacing way- but a adoring one. I tuned my attention back to Phil whose eyes fixed to mine "what are you going to have?" I asked seeing him look to his menu
"stake maybe, or lamb- you?" I checked down the list, until my eyes found my favourite "let me guess- filet mignon?" I nodded, a grin spreading on my lips "still know you well then"
"well I mean its been a good few years Wenneck- you sure?" I pondered, chewing my lip "do you really know me?" my voice lowered, and I couldn't help but watch his expression falter from being confident to slowly becoming more soft
"whats changed about you- tell me love" hearing the nickname nearly knocked the breath from me, something about hearing It in his voice, from his face, on his tongue
"you'll have to find out yourself" I challenged, his stare narrow
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
the meal was one not to be forgotten, and the bill was another thing I would also never forget "Phil stop it- split it with me, you can't pay $250!" I snapped trying to pull the bill from his grasp
"Y/n I am a grown man with my own money- fuck off let me do this- I'll be paying tonight" he demanded
"next time I pay" I sassed, shoving my card back into my pocket, I watched as his eyebrow lifted, questioning my words
"a next time huh?" he responded with a smirk, I shook my head staring away from his eyes as he paid the bill "come on gorgeous lets go" He was killing me- the nicknames, the watching, the smirk.. I felt like a teenager again... the first time I fell for the stupid boy
"watch it Wenneck" I quipped, he brushed me off by taking my hand and leading me from the building, it was a warm night, the sky still a ink blue but a darker colour than before
"wanna go see something?" Phil's voice broke through the silence "it's only down there" I followed his out stretched arm that pointed to a small cleaning in some trees, in my head I kept thinking of the negatives but in my heart, as cheesy as it sounded, I knew if I was Phil I would've been okay.
"okay" I agreed and soon we began moving toward the narrow entrance, he pushed some branches out the way with his free hand, his other still softly holding mine "where are you taking me?" I asked, a soft laughter leaving after I saw him look back with his signature smirk. Soon we stopped as we came to a opening
"welcome to the most cozy place" I looked round the mans figure to see a small pond littered with lily-pads, and pond grass, lit by the moons glow, it was very romantic and every girls dream place to sit after a night like ours
"Phil how do you find these places?" I questioned taking in the view, he gleamed shrugging off his jacket and laying it on the floor next to the water "careful it'll get dirty"
"Y/n it can be cleaned- just sit down" without wasting anymore time, I perched myself next to him on his jacket, our legs bumping as we relaxed into the floor. I stared out in front of me, watching the small movements off the trees as the wind blew past, and the ripples that bounced in the water "tonight has been so amazing Phil, thank you" I said sincerely, my look changing to face him "really" in this light he looked heavenly, his outline illuminated by the light cascading from the sky, his eyes shining into mine, it felt like it was just us again in the world, only me and only him
"Y/n, can I ask you something?," I hummed, slowly nodding my head because no words could leave from my lips "can I kiss you?" every good emotion began wizzing around my heart, butterflies flitted in my stomach and my brain turned hazy, none of it felt real
"please" I breathed, feeling his gentle touch as his hand caressed my cheek, drawing me closer to him. My heart raced as I wrapped my arms around his neck, surrendering to the warmth of his embrace. Slowly, I settled onto his lap as his other arm pulled me onto him, our bodies fitting together like pieces of a puzzle. Our lips met in a tender kiss, igniting a spark that had been smoldering between us for years. A sweet hum escaped my lips, a melody of longing and relief, as the weight of unspoken words lifted from my shoulders..
Reluctantly we both pulled away, taking in each other movements, my lips curled into a smile which Phil quickly mirrored, his hands finding my hips as he sucked for a breath "god I've waited so long to kiss you Gorgeous" he muttered, the pads of his fingers drawing random shapes as he spoke "why did we wait so long?" he questioned
"Phil, kiss me again" My voice trembled slightly as our mouths met once more, a surge of desire mingling with passion, flooding my senses. In an instant, Phil shifted our positions, his form now looming above me, casting a shadow over us, swallowing us in darkness.
"Fuck, you look so pretty like this," his words pierced through the intensity of our kiss, but I couldn't bear to be apart from him for a moment longer. With urgency, my hands pulled him closer, silencing any further words with the press of our lips. His knee parted my legs as he leaned further into me, his wight laying on his arms that caged my head between them; his lips slipped from mine and began traveling down my jaw, to my neck, to my collar bone
"Umph Phil" I whined unexpectedly, my eyes fluttered open seeing the brunettes gaze shift to a darker, hungrier side, his lips began another assault on my skin, sucking and peppering me in little butterfly kisses as I tried to stop myself from making any noises that the outside world could hear.
Phil pulled away, smiling at the view of me, I copied his expression as my hand carefully tucked back a fallen piece of hair "you should let me take you out more often" he laughed softly, his hands found mine and pulled me up to meet him, my legs felt uneasy from the moment but I forced myself to stand although my head only met his chest, the hands that once lifted me began to drag up my side until the two cupped my jaw "you okay?"
"yeah... I think just still in shock, I don't think I've ever been kissed like that in my life" he hummed, a suggestive look painting his features "what?" I asked looking up to him
"I just think you look really hot right now," he spoke with a amused smile "like, really hot" Phil repeated, his head bent so our mouths were basically exchanging air "can I kiss you again- please" It sounded almost like a beg but how could I refuse?
"you don't need to ask" I replied as once again my arms tangled behind his head. Though this kiss felt different than the last ones: hungrier, more passionate, wanting, pleading for more. My one hand knotted into his hair pulling a handful of strands causing him to lift slightly from the kiss
"ugh- fuck Y/n, don't do this to me" his voice croaked in a moan "or I'll take you home right now" I felt a rush of excitement run through my veins hearing the words leave his mouth
"do it then" I commanded pulling away to stare into his blue eyes that seemed midnight black all of a sudden. In one swift movement Phil lifted his jacket off the floor and grabbed my hand leading me back out the wooded area and to his car, the lights flashed as we climbed in and in seconds the engine roared. I couldn't stop my face from heating up as I watched his knuckles whiten from their grip on the wheel as we turned out from the restaurant parking lot back to my house.
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
His hand hadn't left my thigh the entire drive home, it drew small circles on my bare skin and I couldn't help but fall into the rhythm, I watched as we turned into my street and the car came to a abrupt stop on my drive way. We exited the car and rushed to the front door, I dragged my keys from my purse and slotted them into the lock and after a few tries the door swung open
I spun around to face Phil, my heart pounding with anticipation as my arms wound around his neck, pulling him closer. Through the doorway, our bodies collided, a rush of heat and longing coursing between us. My back met the wall, but the world around us faded as our kiss deepened, the intensity building with each passing moment.
Our shared desires spilled into the air, mingling with the soft sounds of our breath and the gentle rustle of clothing. In the haze of passion, we fought for control, our bodies moving as one in a dance of longing and need. As we finally broke away, gasping for air, our faces flushed with desire, I closed the door behind us, turning my back to the man that now stood behind me, softly I felt his hands creep around my sides, his breath climbing up my neck
"I need you gorgeous" he whispered, his lips brushing the lobe of my ear, without another thought I grabbed his palm and led him up the stairs. I felt like a teenager again, messing around with my crush for the first time. We made it to my room and I knocked the door open but soon my attention was torn away and all I could think of was Phil, Phil Wenneck who's hands were holding my body as his lips pushed against mine, Phil Wenneck who was laying me on my bed and holding himself above me. Phil Wenneck.
"Take this off me," I whispered, my gaze locked with his, my voice dripping with desire. As he obeyed, his fingers trailed down the small straps of my dress, exposing my chest to his hungry gaze. I felt a shiver of anticipation race down my spine as his touch ignited a fire within me.
His hands caressed my skin, teasingly light, sending sparks of pleasure dancing across my body. I watched in rapt fascination as he cupped each breast, his touch firm yet gentle, kneading them as if they were dough in his palms
With a soft groan, his lips left mine, blazing a trail of kisses down my body, each one sending waves of pleasure coursing through me. I arched my back, offering myself to him, my breath hitching as his mouth hovered tantalizingly close to my aching nipples.
As he took one between his teeth, a sharp gasp escaped my lips, pleasure and pain intertwining in a heady mix. "F-Fuck," I hissed, unable to contain the overwhelming sensation coursing through me.
"Like that, don't you?" Phil's voice was husky as he released me, his gaze smouldering with heat. I could only nod, my body trembling with need, words failing me in the face of such intense pleasure. He repeated his actions, each touch sending me spiraling further into ecstasy. His tongue traced delicate patterns on my skin, leaving me trembling again and again, his kisses a gentle reminder of the tender passion that consumed us both.
I began to feel the heat between my legs grow hotter as I watched him draw himself down my body, my dress slowly coming all the way off and pooling at my ankles leaving me in just my black thong "you look- just woah" he grinned, his hand petting mine
"you still have too much on" I flirted sitting myself on my knees in front of him, I let my hands trail up his front till I met the first button and I pushed it undone, then the next, then the next until his top was bare revealing his tanned torso, and tanned muscles that decorated his front. I pushed myself closer to the man, my lips pressing against his peck until I reached his collar bone, my tongue poked out from between my lips as I licked a line up his neck to his ear "I need you to take these off for me" I sighed
"do you?" he purred, standing from my bed his hands unfastened his buckle then popped the button letting the material fall to the floor leaving him In his boxers which outlined his boner leaving nothing to the imagination "gonna keep staring or come do something about it" he asked with a smirk
"not if you act like that" I answered slyly as I kneeled at the side of my bed in front of the man, his hand reached for my jaw propping my mouth open, dipping his thumb into the wet
"be a good girl and lay back for me, hm gorgeous" I pulled off his finger with a pop and lay myself down, my thighs parting to show him stood just in front of me, his palm stroked my heat, the friction sent waves through my body "so sensitive already" I hummed, trying not to grind myself against his flat hand. His fingers dipped behind the material and hooked the thong away, pulling them down my thighs then to the floor, softly his hands once again parted my legs, showing him my already went cunt "look at that" he praised
"please do something" I begged, in a matter of seconds I felt his fingers brush over my skin, a few digits pushing through my folds "agh- oh Phil" I whimpered at the touch
"god if you say my name like that again I'll cum right fucking here" I smiled looking up to the man who's finger began slipping down my wetness again "deep breath baby" he spoke. I sucked in a breath which was harder then anything I had ever done before then felt a finger push through the threshold, dipping into my cunt
"Angh" I cried as Phil began a agonisingly slow pace, the pad of his finger narrowly brushing my want "a-another- another please Phil- oh please" I pleaded
"already? such a good girl gorgeous" I nodded but soon my body was stuttering at the feeling of another digit sliding in
"Nagh- tha...nk you" I breathed, my hips moved involuntary at the pleasure- my eyes screwed shut, I hadn't got the power to force them to look at him, my voice was stuck in my throat as the knot in my stomach tightened "Phil-holy... I'm gonna-" before I could finish my own sentence I cut myself off "Ooh- fu....fuck fuck my god Phil" I called, my hands blindly reached for something to hold, trying to stable myself but I couldn't reach a thing
"you're okay- come on you're alright" he cooed, his free hand stroked my head as I slowly came down from my first high, my eyes finally opened and my first look was at Phil "there we go, hey gorgeous" he smiled
"hey" I greeted back, our lips connected again and I couldn't stop my fingers from going back to his hair, small pieces caught between each digit as I pulled him closer
"hmph- Y/n gentle with me" he joked breaking the kiss, I rolled my eyes turning my gaze away from his face to his body that sat above mine, I couldn't help but notice the tent in his boxers only looked larger. Slowly I lifted my leg letting the bulge sooth over my knee "agh.. mh you think your funny don't you?" he taunted
"no- I just really want you inside me Phil" I purred as both my hands held his face "please Phil" the man moved quicker than I have ever seen a man move before, his boxers were pulled away from his hips and down his legs revealing his length. My eyes widened- he was huge, no wonder girls in school jumped at the chance of a night with Phil, now I understand.
He knelt behind me, lightly pumping his cock before brining it up to my entrance "your safe word is Mexico okay- you say that and we stop" I murmured an 'okay' and he started to come closer, his warm tip stroked through my split "ready?" I hummed, steadily he pushed in, breaking through my entrance inch by inch before pulling out and repeating his action until he was fully sank into me "god baby you're so tight" he grumbled, I nodded not being able to speak because of feeling so full "want me to start moving now?" he spoke breaking the silence.
"mhm- slowly, you're so big" I welled watching a smirk plaster his face, Phil agonisingly pulled back until only his tip sat in me "Phil don't tease" I whined "need you to...fuck me so good" i was breathless already
"no problem gorgeous" he snarked before slamming his hips back and his full length pushing back inside me, I yelled at the force as he found a pace, our bodies hitting together in a rhythm only gods could create
"Oh Phil...Feels so good in me" I chattered, eyes fixated on him, I couldn't tare my gaze away as his shoulders tensed to keep himself up, a sheen of sweat building on his skin, his hair becoming unruly on his head as stray strands fell
"You feel so good around me- ugh fuck Y/n- such a good girl Y/n" hearing my name fall from his mouth only made me needier, it sounded so right
"fuck Phil- I feel so fucking good, shit- you fill me up so well Wenneck" I panted, my hands digging into his shoulders, nails scratching his skin
"fu-fuck you say it so well baby, I only wanna hear my name out your mouth" he moaned pressing open mouth kissed on my neck "I feel close- are..are you?" his voice trembled
"mhm- I was trying to hold off for you" I spoke, to brain numb to stop the truth, I could already feel his cock twitching inside me as he pounded my g-spot tirelessly
"cum with me- fuck baby" he hissed as I felt his thrusts get faster, our moans started to sync, I never thought I could fall for Phil, but seeing this side, hearing his voice, his moans, his venerability, I couldn't help the feeling "Y/n I need to come so bad" he begged
"shit- i...I- Oh my god" I hiccuped feeling the tie in my stomach rip apart and a swarm of warm blanketing me everywhere, then the sensation of my walls being painted with ropes of cum as the man above me faltered
"mgh- ah, holy fuck" he gulped, his head falling to my shoulder "I've never came that quick in my life" a small laugh escaped as he caught his breath while pulling out
"neither...Jesus Phil" I breathed, our eyes met again and we both had a new glow about us "you look pretty like this" I spoke brushing my fingers through his hair
"you've always been beautiful but right now," his lips tenderly met mine, the kiss was sweet and meaningful making the moment only better "Y/n can I say something?"
"yeah" I agreed, he shifted to be lay next to me, his palm sliding down to rest in the crook of my waist "what is it?"
"I really love you, I did all through school and, when we left I regretted not telling you but yesterday, seeing you and all, then today, I remembered how I felt," I blushed, hiding my face with my free hand "that was so cheesy but I don't even care anymore" he chuckled
"I really love you too Phil" our lips caught each others again, smiling into the make out, we pulled away letting our foreheads rest against each others "we waited so long"
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
My eyes fluttered open to my sun kissed room, the light stripping against my walls, I hummed letting my head nuzzle back into Phil's chest where I'd been lay since the early hours of the morning, my fingers drew up his stomach and scratching softly over his peck, I felt him stir at the touch, pulling small faces at the feeling "what are you doing" he yawned
"nothing" I hummed pressing a kiss to his skin "but it is time to wake up" he sighed rubbing his face with the hand that wasn't wrapped around my waist. Finally he opened his eyes and faced me, though I had already been watching for a while
"morning gorgeous" he sounded
"morning Phil" he pulled me close laying a kiss to the top of my head then propping his chin against my forehead "I've gotta get Dylan soon by the way" he hummed again, I could tell he was falling back to sleep, so quickly I sat myself up pulling the cover away from our bodies
"Y/n come on! five more minutes" he sneered "please baby" his voice begged as morning still lay thick on his voice
"no, come on Wenneck- I remember when we were kids you would say that then not move for another hour so up" I demanded taking his hand and pulling him from the bed. He rose up, towering above me
"you're mean" he commented as he loomed down on me
"but you told me you loved me last night" I played, my finger teasingly running down his front
"I do," he grinned leaning closer "but I also think you're mean" I rolled my eyes wondering away as he sat himself back on the bed falling back.
Quickly I got showered, washed my face and brushed my teeth and changed into jeans and a jumper in a few minutes, Phil on the other hand had just managed to brush his teeth and stick his shirt back on as he continuously groaned about being awake so early on a Sunday, though it was 11:30am
"okay well I need to go get Dyl now, he's got a soccer club to get to at 1 and I need to clean the house and things" I moaned, leaning my head against Phil, soothingly his hand ran down my back comforting me as he laughed
"why don't I stay and help? I have nothing better to do, and I can stay with you a bit longer, make dinner, be like another date" he asked, and I couldn't help but smile at his idea, having him around would make things better
"sounds perfect, now come on we've gotta go get Dyl"
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
My hand pushed the doorbell and soon enough the shuffling of slippers appeared on the other side "afternoon sunshine" my grandma beamed pulling me into a hug "and who's thi- Oh my lord, Phil Wenneck, look at you!" quickly she came out grabbing his face, inspecting all his changes "Philip aren't you so handsome!" she cooed
"thank you, you look lovely yourself, haven't changed a bit" he spoke as she stepped away laughing
"stop it you, anyways let me grab Dylan, he's been playing with the dog all morning- Dylan Y/n's here!" she called wandering back into the house
"Y/n!" a voice called as the noise of shoes tapped down the hall way and soon hands wrapped around me "you didn't call last night like you said!" he complained though still with a smile on his face
"I'm sorry, I got a bit busy last night Dyl" my gaze changed to Phil who was stood smiling at us
"Mr Wenneck?"

Serene. Quiet. In the warm grasp of your peaceful slumber. Your toasty blanket completely engulfed you whole. Your face poking out just enough to let air flow into your nose for proper breathing. Your room was cozy, well, your side of the room. A desk cluttered with trinkets and paperwork. Scribbled notes on top of books. Your soft bed adjacent to said desk. Some fairy lights strung about as to not let it ever be a full dark night. Plush animals strewn about to occupy the remaining space of your bed and floor beneath it. Ah yes, one could get used to such luxury.
The other side belonged to your little brother. A handful he was, one you kept close to your heart. His own plush animals are thrown around to mingle with his light boards and remote control cars. A small desk with crayons and construction paper. Some snippets of color here and there. A small pile of markers missing their caps. No matter, you’d find them another time. His bed laid empty, his liveliness unbeknownst to you. For now.
You awoke to a plush object falling onto your face. Your little brother’s laugh rang through the room. Feeling his weight shift onto the bed as he giggled and nudged you awake. Smiling to yourself, you sat up and let the object fall onto your lap. A yellow teddy bear with a blue gingham ribbon. How cute.
With a yawn and a stretch you greeted your sibling by ruffling his hair. “Morning, pudge.” He shook his head away and lightly smacked your hand. “Hey!”
You couldn’t help the chuckle that left your throat. “Heyyy!” Mocking him with a smirk, you ruffle his hair once more. A harsh nudge of his head sent your hand flying off. Before you could react, he sent himself shooting right into your abdomen. “Oof-!” You breathed out. Minor pain aside, he curled himself up into your lap and started babbling about a dream he had.
You glanced out your window as your hand tucked his hair behind his ear. The sun hasn’t come out yet. Blue hour. Smiling, you closed your eyes with a hum. Right on time.
This was routine for you and your little brother, Gregory. He’d wake up at around four in the morning and immediately run up to your bed. Toss his plush as high up into the air as possible and let it fall onto your unsuspecting self. Of course, Gregory only wakes you up for the important things, consisting of: a glass of water, a sweet bread, some cereal, or just to talk your ear off about the wildest dream he had. This time, he chose the latter.
Normally, you’d wait for him to talk to himself to sleep, but you were particularly tired this morning. So you scooped up your little brother, interrupting his dream talk session.
He expressed his dismay by tugging on your shirt and raising his voice. You got off the bed briefly to remove some of your plush animals. Once satisfied with the space you made, you cradled him back to bed with you. Giving him most of your pillow as he made himself comfortable. Humming a short tune as you bundled up the blankets around the two of you.
“Alright, tell me what else happened in your dream,” you said, smiling and pinching his nose. He laughed and scrunched his eyes closed.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄
The bright sun is what woke you up first. You sat up with a groan. Not quite the morning person you used to be, you sat up with eyebrows already knitted together, squinting at your window with repugnance. Begrudgingly, you made your way to shut the pesky light out with curtains. Only to get cut off by a sudden crash downstairs.
Oh come now, what time is it even? You thought to yourself. The clock read 6:32 a.m. That checks out. Gregory, still being the morning person, was usually making himself some sort of breakfast by this time. Grabbing a sweater, you made your way down the stairs. Dreading what sort of mess you’d find on your arrival.
“Don’t come down!! I dropped a glass bowl!!” he warned you. You paused and looked down at your fuzzy socks. You left your slippers upstairs. Admittedly a bad habit, but one that Gregory took into account.
“Did you get cut? Do I need to get the bandages?” you hollered back to him as you made your way back to get your slippers.
A few seconds of silence passed by. Taking that as a yes, you made swift work of retrieving the  bandages from the mirror cabinet in the upstairs bathroom, along with some antiseptic if needed. You smiled to yourself. Remembering how clumsy Gregory had been in his younger years. Often running to you in tears after scraping his knees, or getting stung by a bee he'd been chasing. It was rare to see him without a bandage somewhere. Your thumb traced over the bandaid box gently. You yourself were rather clumsy. Often bumping your nose into something or getting cut by the most random things. Just like Gregory, you'd be seen with some sort of bandage. Or even a bruise here and there.
Laughing to yourself, you made your way to the kitchen. Gregory had already swept up the glass debris. He dumped it into an old kitchen rag before tying it with a rubber band. All while wearing oven mitts. Something you'd taught him to avoid any further injury. Whether it be you or anyone else who comes across it.
"C'mere, lemme see," you offered with a hand. Embarrassed, he made taking off the oven mitts as slow as humanly possible. Mumbling something about it not being that bad. "Gregory." Warning him as if you'd already begun to count to three. He groaned out a "hmph" and let his wrist fall onto your hand.
The cut itself was wide. About a quarter size to be exact. It looked like he peeled a sliver of skin off, enough so to have little specks of blood forming. Not a deep cut, thank goodness, but a cut nonetheless. You hummed and dabbed some of the antiseptic on. Your little brother grimacing a bit at the sting.
"How did you get this from dropping a bowl?" you questioned as you slipped on a bandaid. Keeping your hold so he wouldn't find a way to weasel out.
Gregory huffed, "I didn't. I got it from cutting strawberries. I didn't wanna use the cutting board, so I cut them in my hand. But the knife slipped and...yeah…” he trailed off.
You hummed, seeming satisfied with his answer. Hand hovering just an inch above his bandaged wound. You smacked it. "Ow!! What??" he fumed.
"You couldn't be bothered to wash a cutting board? Now look. You have a quarter sized piece of skin missing," you gestured towards his wrist.
"So?" he cradled his wrist towards his chest.
"So?" you parroted back, "You know how easy these can get infected if you don't take care of it properly? Knowing your ass, I'm gonna have to remind you to regularly keep it clean."
Gregory's voice grew quiet. "Nooo."
You chuckled. "Yeaaah," you said, mocking his tone. Your brother laughed as he shoved your shoulder.
"Go back to bed, don't you have that interview at two?" he commented as he made his way back to his fruit.
"I do. Did you wanna come with?"
He thought for a moment, "Hmm..I guess so. Knowing your ass, you'd probably forget where you park." A knowing smile danced across his face.
It was your turn to laugh, "I mean I do—but it's also just a fun place, I think. I figured you can look around and play games while you wait for me."
Gregory feigned his deep thought, "Hmm…wellllll.”
You chuckled and pinched his nose, "It's either yes or I leave you here alone for three hours. I don't want an 'I guess.'" Your brother shook his face away in laughter.
"Okay, okay! I'll tag along!"
You smiled at his answer, "Alright, be ready by 1:30." You ruffled his hair before heading to the stairs. The faint sound of chopping on a cutting board could be heard once you reached your bedroom door. Your shoulders relaxed. "Good egg,” you whispered to yourself.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄
The drive there wasn't too bad. Early afternoon on a weekday. People were either working or in class. Either way, it allowed you to arrive ten minutes early. You turned your car off and rummaged around in your bag before exiting your car. You looked at the massive building before you. A silent gasp fell from your mouth as you opened Gregory's door.
"I didn't expect the pizzaplex to be that big…" you mumbled as your little brother laughed.
"Didn't you read up on the job offer before applying?" he poked at your side.
You jumped and swatted his hand away. "I did!” You exclaimed as you shut the car door. “…The important parts at least..." Your answer only gives more fuel to Gregory's laughter.
True, you had read up on the offer itself, the expectations and what not. Just not the rest of what the place had to offer as entertainment. You were there for a retail position. Specifically, a spot in the Lucky Star's Gift Shop. Expectations were: know how to manage a register, minor custodial experience, customer service, and general knowledge of the products you'd be selling. Those products being: plush toys, candies, apparel, trinkets, etc. An easy job surely.
You didn't expect the pizzaplex to be the size of a super mall and then some. Your wide eyes glued to the building as Gregory dragged you to the front doors. The parking lot was thankfully not as full. You felt comfortable in trusting your sibling to guide you to your destination.
A small chime rang once the two of you arrived. The smell of pizza and freshly cleaned carpeting wafted in the air. The ceilings were higher than the sky. Tiled floors waxed clean and carpeted floors as vibrant as the day they'd been installed. Gregory let go of your hand as he took a step ahead. Eager eyes darting around all the possible things he could do: an exciting collection of bowling, racing, arcades, and a food court, to name a few. He felt his stomach growl. His window shopping, however, got interrupted by a robot. A cute little thing. Just an inch taller than Gregory. Colored cheeks and the animation of a stiff broomstick. A colorful sunny shirt with the words "Daycare!" littered across its chest. A quick scan from your head to toe gave it all the information needed.
"Interview number 24, scheduled in 8 minutes. Early. Punctual. With a—" it stopped and gave a slight nod, "—plus one. I am one of the daycare's staff robots, greetings. Would you like me to show you to the location of the interview? Do you need to enroll the young one into the daycare while he waits?" It offered its metallic hand towards you.
You smiled and shook your head. "Thank you! But he’s alright on his own, I appreciate the offer though!" You made quick work of fishing for your credit card in your wallet. "Alright Greg, I'm leaving you with this to use responsibly. Food and a few games. Keep your phone volume on high and with you at all times. I'll call you once I'm done, alright?"
His eager hands snatched the piece of plastic, "Alright!" And with that, he was gone. Laughter hummed through your chest as you took the staff bot's hand. Just an interview. In and out. Then you'd find Gregory and be on your way home.
The walk there helped you familiarize yourself with the layout of the first floor. You took note of a few bathrooms and emergency exits. The bright neon lights arranged in stripes along the wall caught your eye. How you didn't notice that upon first entering was beyond you. The larger than life statues in the dead center as well. The Glam Rocks, in golden splendor.
You kept making mental notes as you followed the staff bot up the escalators—a gift shop or two on the side, a few designated party rooms—just some things you'd expect to see in the pizzaplex. You almost bumped into the bot as it halted. Pristine walls were decorated with a fun blue sky and the words “Super Star Daycare!” Two painted over doors sat in the middle. The right door had a small screen on it. A small wave of the staff bot’s hand had the screen flashing a green color. The doors click open, granting you both access. You watched in awe at the interaction, smiling to yourself at the notion that kids under Fazbear care were taken very seriously. Enough so to only allow a select few during working hours.
What you didn't expect was to hear the reverb of a band. Wasn't this a daycare? You didn't recall reading about there being two bands within the facility. That or the Glam Rocks hosting shows for the smaller children.  Sensing your confusion, the staff bot chimed, "While this is a daycare, the attendants do like to offer shows to both children and family members. A sort of break from taking care of all the little ones running around. It keeps them still long enough while me and the others get nap time essentials ready—or when organizing the place during a busy day." You nodded at it's explanation. The staff bot took your hand once more and guided you into the hallway.
The glittery ivory flooring wasn't new, but the light fixtures were. Instead of intense neon, this section of the pizzaplex favored a warm light hung by chandelier. There were faint wooden walls staring back at you. It felt elegant to say the least. Catching you off guard, as you wouldn't expect this sort of appeal from a daycare. But a place to hold shows? You could picture it.
The daycare itself was enormous. The front doors loomed over you, as did its walls. Your eyes trailed up to find a sort of railing at an even higher level. You could only assume it was to help clean and maintain the structure. While it was walled off, the daycare offered viewing windows for anyone who dropped off their kid. Or in this case, for you to peer into.
The bot led you a bit aways from the daycare. Noticing a small fault in your steps, it offered you a small stop to look through the side window. Paying attention to your growing curiosity for the daycare attendants. You smiled in thanks and turned your attention to watch.
A bright sunny animatronic held the position as lead guitarist. His rays dancing about with little head shakes along with his background vocals. His counterpart, a sleepy night capped moon animatronic, played what looked like a bass while also taking lead vocals. Easily keeping up with the sun's guitar. Behind them, another animatronic was on drums. He resembled the sun, but had a darker color palette and a dark silhouette in his rays. He had a calmer smile to him. While he didn't sing along, he did keep up with their energy. An eclipse themed animatronic, you deduced.
Next to the moon was another guitar player, a more human looking animatronic. His color palette matched the sun's while taking the personality of the moon. Rays shooting out from his curly hair. To the sun's left was a female animatronic, another human-esque one. A violin in one hand and a wide smile and energy to match the sun's. Though her color palette resembled the moon's more than anything. Even sporting a similar nightcap.
"A Thousand Eyes, I believe that's what they're playing. It's a popular choice here. Bobby Vee?" the bot nodded, "Yes Bobby Vee, a classic." You continued looking on, impressed by their performance.
Your eyes danced across their attire: the sun sporting an exciting patterned button up shirt, bright yellow suns decorating his arms and chest. His pants were high waisted and loosely flared at the legs. Having a clown like ruffle at both ends, with cute sun's at the knees. The moon wore a red vest atop his own button up shirt. A puffed short sleeve with moons leading into a tight long sleeve seamlessly. Sporting similar pants as his counterpart, the main difference being the moons on his knees and a faint change in fabric color at the hips. As well as the buttons, which formed in a triangular pattern at his waist. Their clothing is reminiscent of both a 50s working man's attire and a 50s clown costume.
The eclipse was vastly different in clothing. An eclipse patterned button up yes, but short sleeved. No elongated pants either. Instead, he was clad in high waisted, two toned shorts with two pairs of belts. A pair of knee socks hugged at his legs before leading into his jester shoes. You couldn't help the smile growing on your face. While his counterparts had casual working man's clothing, he wore a relaxed summer outfit.
The human leaning designed animatronics had contrasting aspects. While the male's color palette resembled the sun and eclipse, he had somber imagery: a yellow short sleeved button down riddled with rain clouds and drops. His pants flaring with ruffles. The latter being cleverly white with raindrops defying gravity and drifting up his legs. His female counterpart sporting sad blues to match the moon. Specks of happy suns littered her puffy sleeved button up. Her own vest was colored a happy yellow with four pointed stars. Her high waisted shorts were a two toned blue with similar stars dancing at the ends. A sun patterned nightcap atop her head.
"So remember when you tell your little white lies that the niiiight~ Has a thousand eyyyyes~!", The sun and moon sang while their human counterparts accompanied with a falsetto. The eclipse excitedly hit his symbols to signify the end of the song.
The daycare erupted in cheers and you couldn't help but clap softly. The animatronics bowed as flowers and toys were thrown to the main stage. The sun was the first to rise, his smile widening as he made eye contact with you. You smiled back and raised your hands up a bit. Wanting to make sure he saw you were clapping. Only for said clapping to stop once he winked at you. You couldn't help the silent gasp you let out. The girl animatronic jumped up from her bow, waving to children excitedly. Turning to yank her other half up. Her eyes briefly caught your's, her smile growing that much wider.
“Two minutes remaining until the interview. Shall we be on our way?” The staff bot unknowingly offered you an out to your awkward expression. "Y-Yea! Let's!" you agreed. This time you took its hand in yours as you walked away.
"Ah—I see you were familiar with the way to the Lucky Star's Gift Shop?" you stopped abruptly.
“Uhm...nooo..." sheepishly admitting you were, in fact, not.
The bot laughed, "Don't worry, it's a few steps in front of you."
You glanced up from your stance and saw the sign in front of you. "Oh—! Well look at that…" biting the inside of your cheek as you continued leading the staff bot there.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄
"Guys! Did you see them? The new interviewee for the gift shop?" Sun exclaimed. His fellow bandmates looked around for said interviewee.
"I don't think we did," Moon admitted, "Brother?"
Eclipse shook his head, "Sorry, afraid not. PeyPey?” he turned to the human animatronic.
"Hmm...can't say I did, Caro?" his counterpart excitedly nodded.
"I did! I think they were absolutely darling, wouldn't you agree Sun?" she rested her head on PeyPey's shoulder.
Sun excitedly nodded his head, "I do! Darling and kind! They clapped for us after we played! Oh, I can't wait to meet them!!"
Moon chuckled, "That's if they get hired, brother dear. And knowing the luck with past interviews, I'm afraid their chances look slim."
Eclipse clicked his tongue, "Well, never say never, Moon. Don't sour Sun's optimism."
PeyPey nodded in agreement, "I think this is the first one to actually stop and watch a bit of our show.”
"Right you are! I'm sure we've more than grabbed their attention, enough so to have them really aiming to win this interview~!" Sun sang out as he began to put his guitar away. The rest of the band mates followed suit with their own instruments.
"Well, possibly…maaaybeee," his lunar brother teased as he put on his neck ruffle.
"I just hope it all turns out okay," Eclipse added while also fitting his own neck garment on.
"Oh come now, I'm sure they'll ace it! They've already made quite the impression on Sun, I'm sure he'd be more than happy to convince the company otherwise if it all came down to it," Caro commented.
Her other half chiming in, "It'd be nice to finally open up the gift shop. The staff bots help a lot but none have what the higher ups are looking for, even with all the programming they do."
Moon hummed in thought, "What do you suppose they're looking for?" He opened his palms as if waiting for something. All eyes turned to PeyPey.
"Well...someone kind and patient, who can connect with guests, and…someone who has experience with children? Especially the younger ones. Someone who has a real knack for it," he concluded.
Eclipse twirled his drumstick. "That sounds about right. Certainly the type of person I'd want working in a gift shop right next to a daycare," he smiled.
"Speaking of daycare: our other jobs await! Come on!" Sun spun his rays as he ran off to the growing number of children waiting to get checked in.
Eclipse laughed and followed his brother. "Hold on now! Let me just wrangle up PeyPey and Caro!" Moon called over to his brothers.
He held out his arms and nodded towards the two animatronics. Both of which did a quick jump into the air. After a small popping sound and puff of clouds, they were the size of pineapples. Landing softly into Moon's embrace.
"Why they made you two as both small and tall will always confuse me," he quipped as he jogged over to the check in.
"Aww, Moon, don't you find us helpful when the kids get into small spaces? Or when you need an extra pair of hands for paperwork?" Caro asked while tugging on his ruffle.
The animatronic rolled his eyes with a smile, "I suppose so."
"Or how about when you need us to walk around the daycare during nap time? The other two aren't aren't too great at sneaking like us three. Especially on a full day. Are we helpful then? Or how about—" PeyPey's words got cut short by Moon's hand gently patting his head.
"Alright alright! You're both helpful even when the size of fruits! Happy?" he exasperated. The pair nodded, satisfied with his answer.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄
The gift shop was pretty homey, reminiscent of a mom and pop shop, and matching the personality of the daycare indeed. Faint primary colored wooden walls surrounded you, accompanied by cartoons of the attendants frolicking about. Ivory tiled flooring at your feet, white wooden shelves with card labels for what would be set out. ‘Sun plush toys here,’ read the one. ‘Eclipse plush toys here,’ read another. The shop was well kept. No dust in sight and your reflection smiled back at you from the floor.
Yep, well kept.
"Alright, I've got your papers all settled here. Now let's see…" What would be your manager beckoning you to the front register. You loudly gulped and nodded as you made your way to her.
She was a warm woman. Pansy was what she went by. She was average height and wore a black button up with some slacks. A pen held up her messy bun. Glasses hung at the bridge of her nose. During your initial interaction, you'd find out that not only was she this giftshop's manager, but the manager of pretty much every other shop here in the pizzaplex. How does she manage all the inventory and employees? You'd never know. Trying to think about it made your balance shift off its axis. Even with the technological advancements of staff bots roaming around, managing that many stores must be exhausting. What with customer service whilst also making sure everyone on the team was okay.
"Your resume is nice, your experience certainly fits our criteria. We would love to have you, but you must answer one question correctly," she watched you through the rims of her glasses.
With nervous eyes, you nodded at her once more. Urging her to continue.
"When you see a child begin to cry after a fall, what do you do?" The question itself wasn't one you were expecting.
Befuddled, you recounted the times that child was Gregory. "I...I don't make it into a big deal. If I do, they learn that every little problem is a bigger deal than it's supposed to be. Help them up, make sure they're okay and point out how there's no injury. Gravitate their attention to something else," you glanced back at her and tried to read her reaction.
This was how you raised Gregory. For whatever accident happened. You made sure not to baby him as much, and to show him ways to get back up. On the off chance you weren't around. It's how your parents had raised you, so you raised your little brother the same way.
She nodded and scribbled a few things onto her pad, "Well, consider yourself hired!" She immediately grabbed your hand and shook it.
Your air left your lungs in a gasp, “Really?” attempting to match the strength in her own handshake.
"Of course! Every interview I've had failed to give an honest answer. It's always, 'cradle them until they stop crying' or 'leave them there to cry until they stop', I was beginning to doubt I'd ever open this shop up!" her laughter raised into the ceiling.
"The position you're applying for is no daycare attendant, but to hire someone without at least that sort of experience? Right next to a daycare?" she waved her opposite hand, "Don't even get me started! I know I can confidently leave you here to handle any child. After your training period of course! If you can calm a kid down before the waterworks, you've made it!" her laughter died down as did her handshake.
Your mouth hung open in a smile, "Well-thanks! I owe it all to raising one!"
Her eyes widened a bit, and her hand stilled. "You're a parent…?" she asked as if it was the most otherworldly thing she'd ever heard.
"Oh—! No, no! I raised my younger brother!" you laughed.
She sighed a breath of relief. "Goodness—I was about to ask you for your skin routine!" You couldn't help the happiness constantly growing on your face.
Pansy wiped a tear from her eye, "Woo! What a hoot! Alright, what day are you able to start?" she asked, readjusting her glasses.
You stood there contemplating for a moment. In all honesty, you were ready to start then and there. You had been let go of your previous job due to seniority and having to make some cuts. Unfortunately, you were one of said cuts. A bit of worry seeped into your brain. What if they view you as too excited? Maybe a bit of a try-hard? You could wait until the shop was fully furnished. Or maybe the following day…tomorrow...yea!
“Tomorrow's good! But of course I can see the shop needs its products, so I don't mind waiting until it's all stocked up, whichever works best!"
Your manager's smile grew, "I'll notify you once the shops all settled in, we'll start easy. Just some managing the floor and customer service, how's that sound?"
You happily offered your hand, "Sounds like a plan, I look forward to it!" She matched your enthusiasm with a firm handshake. The second one of the meeting. "As do I. Welcome to the family!"
You felt something in your grasp once she let go. Your name tag. A pretty, holographic lenticular tag. Shifting it to the left would shine a sun, in the middle a calm eclipse, and to the left, a sleepy moon. You stared in awe at the exquisite piece of plastic. This was the most beautiful name tag you'd ever been given.
“We'll get this little guy properly labeled with your name in a second, love. Just need to remember where I left that pesky hand machine…” she mumbled the last sentence as she walked around the front desk to look for it.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄
"Moonie I simply must know!" Sun grunted as he tried reaching the daycare's front doors. His brother held him back without much struggle.
"We'll know in due time Sun. No need to pry for information," he chuckled.
Eclipse had started a game with the kids. A classic game of cops and robbers. Such a game in the daycare proved to exercise a kid's brain. With many places to hide such as the ball pit, jungle gyms, slides, cubbies, and so on, one had to get creative in this space. This time the attendants were playing the cops and the kids were the robbers. Caro and PeyPey had more luck than the lunar and solar triplets. Their smaller size proved useful in getting the stealthiest of kids. They'd started a system of chasing the kids out of hiding and straight into Eclipse's waiting arms.
"Come on Sun, don't you want to play with the kids? It's cops and robbers, one of your favorites,” Moon tried convincing his twin.
"But Moon! What if we never find out? What if they didn't get hired?" Sun whined in his brother's hold.
Moon sighed and reluctantly carried a protesting Sun to the game. "You had confidence earlier. Where has it gone?" The animatronic passed by the window, not thinking much of it.
"Oh hey it's the interviewee!" Caro exclaimed as she popped her head out of a jungle gym.
"Where?” Sun jumped out of Moon's hold with his eyes darting across the room.
"Out there, they're shaking hands with Pansy...I think I see something sparkly on their clothing," Eclipse added while carrying four giggling children.
His solar twin excitedly gasped and ran over to watch. What he said was very much true. There you were, talking with Pansy as if the two of you were old friends. A fresh name tag glistening below your smile.
"I can't thank you enough Pansy, thank you!" you exclaimed.
Your manager shook her head. "No, no—I should be thanking you! Two years this shop has been here—two years without a proper employee. You're doing wonders by just being you, love!" She smiled warmly.
You felt bashful and rubbed the back of your neck. "Aww, I'm glad we could help each other then! I look forward to being able to help in any way I can!"
She patted your back with vigor. "There we are! That's what I like to hear!"
Sun failed to notice bandmates and children crowding behind him to get a look at the new hire.
"They did it! I see their name tag!" Caro hollered from Eclipse's shoulder.
Moon nodded, impressed. "Huh, Look at that."
All comments fell on deaf ears. You did it. Finally they found someone competent enough to run the gift shop! Someone who's genuine—kind even! Sun couldn't contain his excited rays dancing about as he watched, resembling a puppy happily wagging its tail. He could see it now: his siblings and friends all palling around, with you in the middle! Catching up and having a swell time as you take your lunch break. Sun sighed at the thought.
Pansy turned curiously at all the muffled yelling. Her laughter got caught in her throat, "Oh! Would you look at that!"
Curious, you peered towards the direction she was looking in and gasped. Not only the animatronics, but the children as well had been watching you. Not knowing what else to do, you offered a small smile and waved. The crowd waved back with a muffled "Hi!" except for Sun. He stood there with his shoulders relaxed and smile tilted.
As you were about to take a step, he joyously screamed and launched himself away from the window. The kids erupting in laughter as Eclipse and Moon can be seen calling out to him in chase. Caro and PeyPey, still at the window, poofed themselves to their tallest height, herding the kids away from the front door.
Sun rushed out with a trail of smoke behind him. He was a foot away from you in an instant. "Hello there! My name is Sun! I'm one of five daycare attendants and a member of the Starlights band! Who might you be, dear?" he cheerily asked.
His height was alarming. You barely reached his chest. While his tone of voice was welcoming, and you couldn't help the anxious flips your stomach did when you briefly raised your eyes up to his. This was the performer who winked at you—a type of interaction you weren't used to. His charming transatlantic accent didn't do you any favors either. You quickly glanced at Pansy for guidance. The only guidance being a nod to go ahead.
Your name trailed out of your mouth awkwardly as you reached a hand out for Sun to shake. "A lovely name! An absolutely darling name!” He matched the same enthusiasm of Pansy’s.
His siblings caught up to him. "Sun! You can't just run off like that, we've got children to look after!" Eclipse scolded as he placed a hand on Sun's shoulder.
“Yes, just look at them all wiggling about in your absence." Moon observed once he reached the small crowd amongst you.
You peered past Sun's waist. The children had been trying to weave themselves through the other two attendants. So much so that you've noticed the two sprouted a second pair of arms just to manage the lot.
"I'm sorry…" you trailed off. You didn't mean to cause this much excitement.
Eclipse shook his head, "Think nothing of it. It's our brother's fault, truly. We really must go before they get any more restless," he admitted with a short bow. Pulling his solar brother by the arm with him to the daycare.
"We'll be seeing you around!" Sun called from Eclipse's grasp.
"Yes, sorry for the short introduction—I'm Moon, that one's Eclipse. The girl is Caro and the boy is PeyPey, the two there at the window," the lunar animatronic gave a small bow in turn. "We look forward to working with you, dear," rushing off to help get Sun back in.
You faintly heard Moon and Eclipse scolding their brother. Who in turn could only muster up "I couldn't help myself!" Your brain wracked against your skull. All three were charming, you had to admit. What with their manners, transatlantic accents, and just the way they carried themselves with each other.
Both Moon and Eclipse smacked Sun upside the head in a playful manner before running in through the front doors. The latter took this as an opportunity for a chase. From the window you could see the children and two human animatronics briefly pause their actions. All heads following Moon and Eclipse as they excitedly ran across from them. The crowd turned their heads to Sun. All of them caught momentum once they noticed the attendant had begun to go after them as well. The children shrilled in joy as the other two attendants joined. Scooping up any stragglers on the way.
Pansy burst out laughing once more. "Those five know how to liven things up around here. Get ready to see more of them, especially with their merchandise in the giftshop."
You sheepishly smiled, "Can't wait!” Your eyes glued to the window a few feet from you. Admittedly, you missed when Gregory was that small. Laughing at almost everything, getting excited over the smallest things. It made your heart feel warm. This must've been how your own parents felt when you yourself grew up.

Ready, set…oh? PART 1
(Complete, link to the second part down below ⬇️ )
Tumblr media
Summary:
He felt incredibly on edge because your eyes didn’t leave his figure once, watching so very closely. But August wasn’t above taking action, even in public, even if you were a pretty little thing…
Pairing: August Walker & Fem. Reader
Warnings: None, just something short, a bit angsty but mostly fluff
Word count: 1K
A/N: All reblogs and comments are welcome and appreciated (but please be kind)! Enjoy! PS: Any mistakes are my own…❤️✨
!Fallout: Mission Impossible and Agent August Walker are not my own creation!
🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨
The moment he entered the small café, he felt eyes on him. A small bell above his head had chimed, as he’d opened the door, making his presence known. Still he couldn’t shake the feeling, that your fixed stare had found him even before he’d stepped through the threshold.
His striking blue eyes quickly surveyed the room. It was near empty. Only two customers were sitting at the small round tables and one bored looking cashier stood behind the counter.
To his left, at the window, sat an elderly gentleman reading his paper. And then there was you.
The clock at the wall, read ten minutes to seven, so no wonder business was still slow.
August stepped to the counter, clearing his throat, as the cashier had yet to look up, from the magazine he’d been hiding behind.
His deep voice rumbled: ”One Americano.”
When the guy finally put the magazine away, he flinched as he noticed the large, domineering man before him. Swallowing thickly at the harsh glare, pinning him in place. He stumbled over his words: “Erm, yeah of course, sir. F-for here or to go?”
“Here.” His face fell slightly at his response, clearly having hoped he’d leave with the coffee. “Al-alright, you can erm..sit. Your order will be right out.”
What irked August even more than the stuttering idiot in front of him, was the attentive gaze that hadn’t left him since he’d set foot in the coffee shop.
He slowly turned his head to the left, where you sat next to the counter, a cookie and beverage sitting on your table, untouched.
Telling him, you couldn’t have been here for more than a few minutes.
August scanned your face. For a split second, your eyes met, then you hurriedly looked back down, clearly having been caught, ogling him. You were rather young to be an agent. Especially for being put on his case, he mused.
He didn’t know if he should be insulted that someone like you, was sent to catch him or impressed that you’d found him so quickly. His dark brows furrowed in thought, while he made his way over to a free table close to the door.
The longer August studied you, the more he became enamoured by your looks, you were exactly his kind of pretty.
Apparently too scared to look up again, you kept nibbling at your chocolate chip cookie and taking small sips from your cup.
At last the cashier came and brought his Americano. Moving away as quickly as he came, as if August’s mere presence could hurt him somehow. When he took a sip, he noticed you had pulled out a notebook. Intrigued he kept watching you, while you scribbled something down. What were you doing? Were you communicating with someone? Calling in backup?
As easy as you were on the eyes, he couldn’t let you arrest him just because of that. He needed an action plan and fast, because your cookie was gone already and your hot beverage couldn’t be far off.
August didn’t enjoy making a scene but if he had to, he would. Putting down his own cup, he let his hand slide off the table, down to his sturdy thigh. His left had picked up the beverage anew, as to not rouse suspicion. Gently holding onto his hidden gun with his right. He was ready. Seemingly so were you.
Next, you did something that took him by surprise. You ripped a tiny piece of paper out of the notebook, then continued putting the small book away and into your bag, standing up. You smoothed down your deep red skirt, making your way to the counter to pay for what you’d consumed.
August didn’t let any movement of yours go unnoticed. He knew, putting away your purse, presented you with the perfect opportunity to pull out your own gun and fire away.
Your face turned to look at him, the tiniest and most precious of smiles painting your lips. Which confused him further, you had yet to draw your weapon. And what was with that slip of paper? You clutched it so tightly in your hand, he was sure whatever secret message it held, was illegible by now.
But he was ready to pounce any moment, all his muscles taunt, as you glided over to his table. August’s blue eyes were gleaming over the top of his cup at your perfectly innocent face, betraying absolutely nothing of your intentions. Steadily setting his coffee back down. He hoped, he didn’t have to go through with his action plan, it’d be a pity to shoot such a fine specimen of a woman.
Surprisingly before he could even think about making a move, you stopped in your tracks as if suddenly unsure of what to do.
He raised one of his thick eyebrows in question, because instead of making your own move as he expected, your hand shot out. Letting go of that piece of paper which promptly fell onto the table. Then you turned on your heels and rushed out of the café without looking back.
August was stumped. If you were an agent why the piece of paper? Why not just go and turn him in? Or arrest him yourself?
As if the little scrap of paper could somehow burn him, he carefully slid it across the tabletop with his index finger. He glanced around the still relatively empty café, to ensure no one was watching and only then he unfolded it. Now gawking at it, in utter disbelief.
Lying in front of him was the formerly, folded massage, but it did not contain any secret information. No. Your name, along with what he assumed was your phone number, had been written on it. Even going as far as having drawn a little heart at the end. August blankly stared at the scribble. Realisation hitting him all at once.
Oh.
Oh?

Brad Pitt x Fem!Reader

The cold winter breeze drifted across your face as you walked to college. Your nose and cheeks were a rose pink. No matter how many layers you wore, you’d always be cold. Your legs and arms shook as your bottom lip quivered. Finally you open the door to college and the warm air conditioning hits you, making a sigh of relief leave you mouth. You walked to tutor and then sat down in your usual chair. The chair was cold making you shiver slightly. Whilst taking off your scarf the new tutor walked in and immediately made eye contact with you before looking away awkwardly. “Erm.. Good morning class. My name is Mr.Pitt. I will be your new tutor until you leave.” He glances at you and then coughs onto his hand. He wore these glasses that defined his eyes quite well. His shirt was neatly tucked and obviously had ironed it before coming in. “So why don’t you call introduce yourselves and say something about you?” He looks at you then points his pencil at you. He raised an eyebrow signalling if you want to start. You nod shyly and smack your lips together before speaking. “My name is Y/N and I like the performing arts.” He smiles at you and stares at you for an uncomfortable amount of time. He bites his lip then continues the tutoring without remembering to ask everyone else for their names. He was so lost in thought, he was imagining you. “So Y/N. Would you mind staying after tutor just for a minute to help me mark some papers? I’m sure you wouldn’t mind?” You nod and smile a little. Mr.Pitt chuckles and looks down at the ground suddenly he looks at the time and tells everyone to leave except you. He walks up to you when everyone has left. He elegantly squats in front of you seat. “So, I don’t actually need you to help mark any papers, sweetie.” He groans a little then bites his lip at you. You look at him shyly and Mr.Pitt whispers to you. “Why don’t you get in my car with me? We go to my place and hang out?” He gently strokes your thigh and tilts his head at you. “Okay… I’ll go with you.” He smiles widely at you and takes you outside. The cold air slams against your face and you both walk to his car. He opens the door for you then goes in his side. Just as he grabs the steering wheel he turns to you and softly speaks. “You can call me Brad.” You nod at him.
*TIMESKIP*
The doors creaks open as Brad pushes it. You walk in first and he shuts the door behind him. Brad walks up behind you and wraps his arms around your waist. “Holy fuck. I need you. When I first saw you I thought, I need to fuck this girl. You’re so hot.” Brad gently lifts up your skirt behind you and rubs his index finger on your clothed pussy making you whimper. He groans in your ear satisfactorily. He slips your panties to the side and gently fingers your pussy. You moan and bend over slightly. He kisses the back of your neck softly and stops fingering you. Brad pulls it out and forcefully bends you over his sofa. He rips your panties open and immediately undoes his belt. “Oh fuck…” Brad lets his hard cock swing out and he immediately starts fucking you relentlessly. He smacks your ass angrily, moans escaped your mouth like gunshots. Brad goes even faster which makes you suddenly scream his name. “Oh fuck! Brad! Brad!” Your head was dug into one of his silk pillows. “I felt your pussy tighten. Are you close?” He leans in slightly as he fucks you harder. You literally couldn’t respond because you were so lost in the pleasure. “Are you gonna fucking answer me, slut?” He smacks your ass again making you squeal with your moans. Everything that escaped your mouth was muffled. His cock twitched inside of you and immediately you knew he was close too. He groaned into your eyes as he continued fucking you hard. Suddenly you scream aloud, your legs were shaking because you had just came and he was still going. Brad thrusts his hips one more time and he cums all over you pussy and inside. He pants and pulls out of you. “Your pussys so good.” You lift your head off the pillow and look at him. He sits you up and kisses you softly. “We should do this again tomorrow after college. Wear something sexy.” You smile at him and he drives you back to college. Suddenly you realise your panties are ripped but nobody’s going to really see except Brad so you ignored it. He dropped you off at college and the cold air immediately brushed against you, your spine sent chills down your body and you finally walked into college. After blowing a kiss to Brad you walked back to class and did the rest of the day.

Writing in between messages!!
🪡Chapter Twenty-four: Beading & Braiding
“Look it’s you!” you lifted up the notebook, with a simple portrait of Megumi, based solely off your memory and what you could see on the call. “It’s me,” he said while giving you a short laugh.
“Show me yours!”
He complied, lifting up his paper with his portrait of you. The paper covered up most of the camera, but you could see his eyes peaking over it looking at you.
“So you’re just good at everything?” you asked, surprised at what he had managed to make in the ten minutes you had set the time limit to.
“Just incredibly talented,” he said while lowering the paper down. He leaned down to his side out of your view, reappearing with his white dog in his lap. You laughed as you could see he was struggling to lift him up into the frame.
“He misses you,” Megumi said while the dog leaned completely in covering up camera with its nose.
“Aw hey there!”
You were about to continue praising his dog, only to be interrupted by the sound of a door slamming open, followed by Megumi’s voice.
“What the hell are you doing!?”
That was the last thing you heard before seeing the call end on his side.

You stood in front of the door to Megumi’s home, waiting for him to come open it after having sent the text that you were here.
Nobara had arrived around ten minutes ago, currently sitting next to Yuji and the couch as he basically explained what he had finished and what parts she was in. They both turned around to face the sound of a door opening seeing Megumi walk out, looking down at his phone before heading straight for the door. “Where are you going now?” Yuji asked, looking at his friend. “Nowhere, someone’s here to help me with a project,” he answered, opening the door to reveal you standing there. Nobara and Yuji were taken aback, especially since you greeted him so sweetly.
“Y/n?” Yuji asked, Nobara still staring you down.
“Hey guys,” You waved. “So, little suprise..”

Next day, and you were sat in class next to Nobara, helping her with beading a string she needed for one of her shirts. “Are you almost done?” she asked looking over at you.
“No, no i’m not almost done, you’ve asked that three time now.” She just huffed going back to sewing a button onto a pair of pants. “Serves you right.”
Maki slid a shirt, cut in the back to make stripes of loose fabric. “When you’re done, help me braid the back of that.”
“You guys suck for this.”
Panda, who was up looking for something behind you threw you three a glance. “I was gonna ask you for something, but I think those two have done enough.”
“Thank you for your mercy.”
Author’s Note: well they found out 🤗

dancing through our house
hyunjin x fem!reader
hyunjin comes home earlier and decides to plan a nice dinner, it doesn’t go as planned but it all works out in the end.
genre: established relationship, she pronouns
note: i cried while writing this
the smell of burning was apparent from the moment she’d walked into the apartment. quickly kicking off her shoes, to find out where the smell was from. hyunjin must have forgotten to turn something off before leaving for practice. nothing was smoking but poor hyunjin was spotted on his hands and knees on the kitchen floor scrubbing his heart away.
“hyun?” he turned his head over his shoulder, scurrying to his feet and standing in a greeting way.
he brushed off his nice suit and placed his hands in front of him while straightening his back.
“i didn’t think you’d be home so earlier.” he looked behind him. moving quickly around the kitchen once again collecting things that had been left about.
it was a mess; dishes filling the sink, hyunjins dirty clothes tossed to the side of the washing basket, some burnt meal ontop of the stove and the split substance hyunjin had been violently trying to get off the marble flooring. he reached on the counter top handing her a rose while his arms were full of the now useless cutlery.
“what’s this?” she asked taking the flower. hyunjin dropped the tools into the sink with the rest. she watched noticing the sauce smeared all over the arm of his nice new suit.
“oh for fuck sake.” hyunjin huffed taking a paper towel and tried to dab it away but it had already starting setting in.
she reached for the tissue to help him. “jin calm down.” she laughed.
“im sorry, i just wanted to do something nice. but the food i got burnt because i thought it said 2 hours but it said 20 minutes. and the stupid stupid sauce got all over your new floor,” he pointed down were she took a step back to avoid standing in the bubbly red stain. “and im sweaty and tired now and you came home before i could reshower or finish-“ he stopped when she reached up and softly kissed his cheek.
“you’re so cute.”
“what?”
“you think this impresses me?” hyunjin blinked in confusion at her.
she laughed placing the tissue down and reaching up to his neck. “jinnie when have you ever seen me eat fancy chicken?” she gestured to the burnt mess over her shoulder. “or drink expensive champagne?” he looked over to the other side of the kitchen where the bottle of champagne had been popped but split all over the counter. “so you don’t like the suit?”
“the suit is gorgeous.” she ran her hands over his neck down to his chest. “but you face is telling me it doesn’t feel as pretty as it looks.”
“oh thank god.” he pulled his jacket off in one movement and unbuttoned the top few buttons of his dress shirt.
“erm careful that looks expensive!”
“it’s fine it’s versace. they’ll send me a new one next week.”
she laughed as hyunjin dramatically sighed swaying his arms around to cool down.
“you know what does impress me?” he titled his head to the side.
“your cute little face.” she squished his cheeks in which he grabbed her hands and dodged her from doing it again. “but seriously hyun never think you’re cooking again.” she deadpanned.
“actually i think i have something you may like..” she looked at hyunjins mischievous smile as he moved into the living making sure she followed behind him.
the room looked normal which confused her. hyunjin walked up to the couch grabbing the remote and turning it back on. it had been playing some playlist on spotify, one he had created. “you made a playlist?”
“for us.” he smiled dropping the controller back onto the seat before moving closer to her once again.
“seriously?” she looked at all the classic love songs he’d added from his favourite films and songs they had built special connections with.
she didn’t believe it. out of all the things he’d planned for tonight, this had to be the most romantic thing. a stupid spotify playlist.
“can i have this dance m’lady?” he propped his hand out waiting for her to take it.
“never call me that again.” she laughed taking it as he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer. “okay love.”
her other hand landed back onto his broad shoulder shoulder stroking up and down. some cheesy love song playing as he starting guiding her around the room.
he was a professional dancer of course he was going to be flawless with ball dancing, even in a sweat fill suit. he moved her around letting go of her hip as he attempted to spin her without getting tangled together. she could no longer smell the burning from the kitchen, or feel the sticky residue on hyunjins suit just him. she could only see him, feel him. just the purple haired man in front her focusing on not muddling up his feet under pressure.
“you know, you’re a pretty romantic man.” she sighed as the song came to a finish and another started to play.
hyunjin didn’t let her go in fact pulling her closer so there faces were close enough to touch. “really?”
she hummed looking up at his beautiful. “i really love you.”
“what?”
hyunjin looked mortified as he realised the words that had slipped out his mouth. she smiled big leaning up to his kiss his lips lightly. “you’re so cute.”
“are you not going to say it back?” he pouted and she groaned.
“i love you too hyunjin.”

LIFE'S HARD WHEN YOU'RE INLOVE ─
─ WITH RIN ITOSHI !!
Tumblr media
"Um.. L/N there's a teacher.. again, who wants to see you." A student spoke up, breaking you from your phone.
A sigh fell from your lips, why do teachers want to see you all of a sudden? The last time you got called a bunch of times was for helping other students in certain subjects, you had to make excuses to turn them down.
The student didn't seem like they were leaving anytime soon so you decided to follow them and meet this teacher.
Yesterday, you were asked to give some papers to a teacher and you forgot completely, what if it's the same teacher? Are they angry with you? Now you need to think of an excuse..
The long walk to the staff room wasn't your favorite but then you noticed that you'd passed the staff room.
"Where are we going?" You asked them person besides you.
"We're almost there no worries." They said.
You both walked a bit more until you reached a door.
"This is your stop!" They said and then left, leaving you alone.
"Erm.." You mumbled, took a deep breath, and then opened the door.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You opened the door and were greeted with an office, decorated with football on the wall. The feeling of the cool air condition hits you as you slowly enter and close the door behind you.
Another thing that hit you was the soft sweet smell of perfume filling the air. Maybe it wasn't so bad making your way here..
Oh wait your excuse.
You heard the chair spin as a woman with brown hair greeted you.
"Oh you're here, hello L/N! That's your name right?" She greeted.
You nodded, looking around the room.
"You can sit here," She said, pointing at a small couch she had in her office. You made your way to the couch as she sat next to you.
What's happening.
"Um did I do something wrong?" You asked.
She shook her head with a small smile.
"You see, yesterday I asked a student to request you to bring me some papers but I completely forgot about how you are." She stated.
"How I am?"
She nodded at your words.
"You turned down the teachers who offered you to tutor students, I mostly see you sleeping during breaks.." She continued.
"So, I'm here for something?" You asked, cutting her off.
"Oh right! My name is Anri Teieri, or Miss. Teieri. I'm the manager of the school's football team." She said with a smile.
"Football team.." You mumbled and she nodded with a smile.
"My boss, well who's also the coach, left me in charge of dealing with this problem we have. Apparently, the school doesn't like how "harsh" he is and demands we come up with ways to "satisfy" the team. The thing is the team doesn't really complain but.." She trailed off.
You're not really into football, so you don't know how "harsh" the coach is and to be honest, growing up with Chigiri you saw how much he improved in football ever since he came to the school.
"So I'm here because.." You mumbled.
She smiled.
"You're friends with some of the players and you're around their age so I was hoping maybe you can be like.. a co-manager? And maybe help me out?" She asked you.
Now you weren't expecting that. Your face lit up, confusion and surprised were present.
You pointed towards yourself, mouth slightly opened. she nodded.
"Um.. okay, but won't it be like a lot of work?" Lazy habit.
Anri smiled.
"You just gonna give me ideas that's all, I'm doing paperwork. You can even come in here and hang out in the cool during breaks!"
AC breaks? You're so in.
"I accept this job." You instantly confessed. Anri, with a big smile nodded her head at your words.
"Don't tell them though! Not now at least." She warned.
"Okay." You didn't ask why.
After that short meeting, you made your way back to your classroom. That is.. Until you saw him again.
"He's still practicing?" You asked yourself. This time around you saw that he looked extremely exhausted and had no water.
You squinted your eyes and began thinking. He needs water to continue practicing.. So who are you to NOT give him any?
.
.
.
Rin looked over to the benches and noticed a water bottle again.
"What the hell.."
.
.
Atleast this time you remembered to not add your kitty drawing!

You're no fool. By the way, Hyoma texted you knew he wasn't okay. You just don't know what you did to make him react like that. Was it something you said?
Boys are so weird for you, one is oddly making your eyes glued onto him and now one has period swings? Weird.
Seishiro is okay, he's your bro. Reo is your mother. Meguru and Yoichi are your best friends, sometimes like your siblings.
With those thoughts, you fell asleep at 7:23 PM.
.
.
.
Seishiro Nagi, a close individual of yours, has now entered your room.
The light from outside your room pooled into your room as he left the door open, walking up to check up on you.
A frown was formed on his face as he noticed nothing is on your bed. His eyes landed on Choki on your bedside table and decided to leave it there.
"Choki will help you if you need them." Sei softed said, petting your head as he finally walked back out, leaving you with your dreams.

ANRI TEIERI (22) :
Despite being a staff member, you both form a friendly relationship sooner or later. Besides, you had already liked her from the time she mentioned free AC.

Prompt 1 - Pride
@jegulus-microfic June 1, Word count 566
This is the second part to the Ski Holiday series from April. We're going to follow them back home and see if their relationship is more than just a holiday romance. Hope you all enjoy xxx
Previous part First part
The rush in the morning to leave their rooms on time to catch their flights meant they had very little time to say goodbye to each other. But even with mere minutes left before they were truly late, James dragged Regulus into his arms and kissed him deeply.
He’d been devastated to find out they weren’t going to be on the same flight. His parents had booked a later flight so they could spend the morning together in the little town and go to the airport after lunch.
Reluctantly, he pulled away from Regulus and slipped a piece of paper into his hand.
“These are all my phone numbers, my email and my actual address. Do not lose this, and please don’t ghost me. I don’t want this to be just a holiday romance.” He stroked his fingers across Regulus’s cheek as the other man looked down at the piece of paper.
“Hey, you’re not that far from us,” Regulus looked up grinning. “I know which bus goes there.” James couldn’t help it. He grabbed him and spun him around.
“Mr Potter. I’m so sorry, but please could you not spin Mr Black in the foyer.” Molly cringed as Regulus’s foot nearly took out a spindly table with a large vase of flowers on it.
“Sorry, Molly.” They chorused, grinning like loons at the poor clerk.
“Bye, Molly,” James blew her a kiss as he wheeled his and Regulus’s suitcases out of the hotel.
Sirius and Remus were saying their goodbyes as well. Regulus rolled his eyes when he saw the tears streaming down his brother’s face as he refused to let go of Dr Lupin.
“I’ll see you tonight, Sirius. We’re going to be apart for a few hours.” He was trying to comfort Sirius but was doing a terrible job of it as he kept letting little chuckles slip past his lips.
“Good Gods, Sirius. Where is your pride? Stop bawling and get in the taxi.” Regulus hissed at his brother as he tried to force himself between the pair.
“No,” Sirius shot back like a petulant child, he even stuck out his bottom lip. Remus leaned over the top of Regulus’s head and kissed Sirius one last time before stepping back. The grimace on Regulus’s face had James guffawing with laughter.
He put Regulus’s suitcase in the boot of the taxi and hugged him tight before he, Regulus and Remus forced Sirius into the taxi.
James watched as they drove away, feeling a hole begin to form in his chest. He prayed that it wouldn’t be long before he could see Regulus again.
“What time’s your flight?” Remus asked him once the taxi was out of sight.
“Five,” He responded, unable to tear his eyes away from the corner.
“Oh, me too. Where are you sitting?” Remus asked excitedly.
“Erm, first class.” James swallowed, finally pulling his eyes away from the road and looking at Remus.
“Lucky git, I’m in economy.” Remus ran his hand through his hair, the sandy curls springing back quickly.
“Hey, do you want to come to lunch with us?” James beamed at him.
“Yeah, sure. That would be great.” Remus nodded.
“Then Dr Lupin, please let me escort you,” He bowed and held out his arm for Remus to take. Remus happily took it, and they wandered towards the shops dragging their suitcases behind them and laughing loudly.

Stephen in spider-man homecoming
(In reference to the WIP game.)
Self-explanatory; Stephen is present in Spider-Man Homecoming!
He kind of shows up in Peter's scene coincidentally, and then of course Peter later rants about it to Happy, who informs Tony, who is so paranoid of magic that of course he tries to find out more about this wizard guy.
From there Stephen sends Tony in a wild goose chase, partially because he finds Tony annoying and partially for the shits and giggles.
Here's a snippet (Stephen recently dealth with Dormammu and he's Not Okay).
Soft footsteps could be heard behind him, signaling that the hero had apparently not left him alone yet. He tensed, able to feel Spider-Man creeping closer to his personal space without needing to see. Just when he thought that Spider-Man might try to touch him again, he instead flinched when the hero sat down next to him at a respectable distance, legs dangling off the roof similarly to his. “Not afraid of heights?” Spider-Man asked. Stephen internally sighed. He hated small talk, and talk in general was the last thing he wanted to do right now, especially with someone who was practically a stranger. “That, too, is none of your business,” Stephen told him blatantly. “Doesn’t your business entail catching thieves and stopping robberies? I think you should go tend to those.” Spider-Man shrugged, completely unperturbed by his clipped tone. “I would if something fishy was going on right now, but everything seems a-okay so I’m on a break.” Then, out of nowhere, the young hero brought out a wrap of tissue paper that emanated an unmistakable scent of fried dough, accentuated by the tinge of cinnamon & sweetness, and extended it towards Stephen. “Want some churros?” Stephen blinked down at the unexpected offering, then looked up at Spider-Man as if the hero was the weird one. “No.” “You sure?” Spider-Man tilted his head slightly. “Cause you look like—” he then raised his hand a little, “—I mean, I don’t mean to be rude! But, erm.. I noticed you don’t look very.. you seem like you might..” Stephen sighed. “Just say what you want to say.” Spider-Man fell silent for a second, then spoke up, “You look like you haven’t been eating well.” Stephen was suddenly hyper aware of just how terrible he must be looking if a random stranger felt the need to point it out. Embarrassment curled in his chest. Right as he was about to make a move to get up, the wrap of tissue was offered to him again, making him pause. “Well, this isn’t much,” Spider-Man said, emphasizing the offered churros, “But if you need help, my— Uh, I know this really nice lady who works at a homeless shelter.” “Are you saying that I look like a homeless person?” Stephen narrowed his eyes, more offended than embarrassed now. “I mean if you wanna know the truth, you look like a D&D cosplayer, but seeing the magic-y stuff you did just then—” he pointed a thumb behind them, where Stephen had arrived, “—maybe it’s not cosplay after all. Anyway, I don’t mean any offense, sir! I just thought maybe I’d help out, y’know?” “You talk a lot.” “So I’ve been told.” Stephen thought he could imagine a smile in the hero’s voice. “So, churros?” Stephen briefly looked down at the offering again, reminded that he had indeed not eaten anything after the morning breakfast, which had been cereals. His body was begging him to take the offering, stomach growling at the delicious scent. He turned back up at Spider-Man. “You’d help a random stranger who almost turned you into burnt soot?” Spider-Man tilted his head a little. “You didn’t, though.” “I could’ve,” Stephen whispered inaudibly, turning his head away. It had been extremely reckless. He had almost incinerated a person just because they had made an innocent gesture of touch on him. He might as well be a threat to humanity with his level of.. reaction. “Yeah, but you didn’t,” Spider-Man said, apparently having heard Stephen’s murmur. He had no idea how. He turned back towards the hero and found him insistently passing the churros now. “Here, take it. I’m sure you’ll feel a bit better after having them. They’re really good!” A little hesitantly, Stephen extended his hand and took the offered tissue wrap from Spider-Man. The hero didn’t say anything, but Stephen could practically feel the happiness he radiated at that moment, with how his legs swung and his body swayed. Stephen opened the tissue, cautious to not let the shaking of his hand make the churros fall off. Carefully, he picked up a churro and took a bite. It tasted heavenly.
