🎃🍁(More) Tangled Fall Headcanons🍁🎃
(should I start tagging these?)
Rapunzel still makes hand turkeys. She never got to do them as a kid she makes a whole production out of it and makes everyone do it with her.
Cass loves slasher movies, so do Eugene and Kiera. Catalina and Lance prefer ghost movies. Varian likes true crime and lost media/urban legends. Rapunzel doesn’t really like horror, she can appreciate a good ghost story but that’s about it. I feel like she would like urban legends as well, since some of them contain love stories or life lessons. I’ve said this before, but Eugene and Varian are true crime buddies. When they’re together at home and just hanging out on the couch, there’s a 99% chance Investigation Discovery, Bailey Sarian, or Buzzfeed Unsolved is playing. If they’re on a road trip, they’re listening to some sort of murder podcast.
Varian and Quirin let the others go apple picking on their farm free of charge. As long as they share some of their bounty with them to make a pie with. Max is very happy with this deal.
Rapunzel always goes to football games at the local school, even if she has no idea what is going on. She relies on Lance and Eugene to tell her who’s winning. (Varian 100% dated the quarterback somehow and it ended horribly)
Rapunzel and Catalina collect pretty leaves. Varian does for science. (he thinks they’re pretty too)
Lance loves soup season. He lives for soup season. He is soup season.
Varian collect cinnamon scented things. So do Catalina and Lance.
Quirin loves to bake in the fall. Apple pie, pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, etc. it is not uncommon for Hector and Adira to stop by around this time. (If the leaves are changing, Quirin’s got free food)
Lance loves French toast pancakes.
Quirin fuckin loves Arsenic and Old Lace. So do Lance and Eugene honestly. Lance loves I Married A Witch. Rapunzel loves Corpse Bride and Nightmare Before Christmas. Kiera loves Beetlejuice. Cat and Varian love Coraline. Cass loves Halloween.
Kiera makes fun of Varian for being a theater kid, but if she sticks around when he plays Beetlejuice The Musical…well that’s her business.
Varian and Eugene aren’t the biggest fans of fall but they’re just happy to go back to regular coffee instead of iced. Varian is looking forward to wearing sweats again.
Rapunzel makes everyone hand made sweaters.
Quirin always has the coolest dad sweaters and everyone gets jealous that Varian gets to wear them. Sometimes Eugene gets nephew privileges.
Quirin hosts Thanksgiving for his family + Varian’s family (aka Quirin’s adopted children) but regularly gets into passive-aggressive fights with Lance over who cooks the turkey.
There was a mix up once and Quirin accidentally brought home a live turkey, and Rapunzel and Var wouldn’t let him kill it. They named him Eritrea because they thought it was a cool name.
Varian listens to Sweater Weather by The Neighborhood.

I was tagged by the cutest @zbee thank you hbiba! ❤️❤️
Name: Hala
Sign: Cancer (me too hbiba)
Time: 11:27 pm
fave band / artist: uh. Faudel & Cheb Khaled + Sufjan Stevens. I know like. two opposite sides of the world etc.
last movie: The Rainmaker
last show: The Bear. I don't really watch a lot of shows, i'm more of a movie kind of person so if that happens it's bc I'm obsessed
when i created this blog: uh I actually had it for a long while, maybe 2015 or 2016? never used it tho, I used to lurk and like footie stuff (especially from ajax days so since 2018). I started being active this year tho, when I realised morocco was loved by people and I had a few people to relate to finally. I'm not very present on social media so that was a big deal for me.
Other blogs: nooo. I'm actually very wary of social media and I tend to be very strict about it and make as less accounts as possible.
Followers: 152 apparently. Idk how that happened, I had like 0 eight months ago.
Average hours of sleep: 6-7, but often less than that.
Instruments: a bit of piano actually but since I didn't have one at home I was never really able to practice. My music teacher at school said I was good and signed me up to a summer music programme, I did that for a few years in a row.
What am I wearing: my beautiful embarrassing morocco pyjamas. it's a red with a giant green start shirt I use as a dress if you wanna know
Dream job: work in the ngo sector, cultural mediator. maybe a teacher too, idk. keep working in the ngos for now.
Dream trip: I have a few :( I actually would love to see more of europe as well, Ireland more than anything, but also more of France/Belgium/the Netherlands. And i'd love to see south america: maybe argentina, peru, chile, even up to cuba. But my 1 priority is Africa. Africa, I want to know more of it first . I want to travel everything. Mauritania, Egypt, more of Algeria (went to Algiers once, not enough). Tunisia (never been there). And then all the way down. Senegal, Gambia, Nigeria, Mali. Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia on the other side. Down till South Africa. etc etc. Literally everything.
Fav song atm: Dalida - Gigi L'amoroso stuck in my head bc of the ~french~. In italian, in french, both version of it really. Get it out of my head yarbi. and then Kelna Mnenjar by Wael Kfoury IT'S SO PRETTY!!! if you listen to arabic music i think you know what I'm talking about, it was pretty famous a couple of years ago. I had forgotten about it and then I remembered it so I have to listen to it at least 3 times a day now again.

Since I saw the tag #fuck italy I want to make something clear to future readers, especially Italians who might get angry at the tag.
I've lived almost my entire life in Italy, but I'd never heard of the Libyan genocide until this post. Why? Let's find out why.
The Wikipedia page quoted by the post has no Italian version.
The Wikipedia page for the genocide, has no Italian version either.
This is the extract of the page. An extremely important viewpoint on the second Italo-Libyan war which is... visibly harder to find in Italian sources.
After more digging around we finally find a description in Italian of the concentration camps and how they were utilized by the Italian army. This description is found in a section of the article about the second Italo-Senussi war (the Senussi were the order/clan who ruled over Libya at the moment).
If you're Italian, have you ever heard of the Senussi order? No, you haven't. Ask yourself why.
If you're Italian, have you ever heard of the Italo-Senussi war as a whole? No, you haven't. Why? Because in Italian the war (and its article) is called "Riconquista della Libia" or Libyan reconquest, in the words of the fascist government who decided to accelerate the process violently in 1923. A somewhat non-neutral wording if I may say so myself.
The English version of the article mentions the genocide directly in the very first paragraph. The Italian version on the other hand...
Word not found.
Now why is it that every year there is a discourse about the Foibe massacres and how they must not be forgotten, but I have lived my whole life without knowing about the Libyan genocide or its concentration camps? And this is not even mentioning the second wave of genocide and concentration camps in Libya, which was around 1938-1943 and involved Libyan Jews. If you're Italian have you ever heard of that? Me neither.
We Italians are taught in school about the Libyan "conquest" (you can read around to find out we didn't conquer shit) and the other wars in Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia. However we are taught very little and very quickly since WW1 and WW2 obviously take up more time to discuss.
Politicians on the other hand, are silent about this and have been for years.
Himmler visited the concentration camps as late as 1939.
Especially if you're Italian, please try to educate yourself on the Libyan genocide. Do what education and politics are not doing.
(Personally I believe that now in 2024 we have more than enough resources and a sufficient cultural advancement to acknowledge these facts)
Italian concentration camps in Libya (1929 - 1934) 70 thousand died
Firstly a fence along 300,000 miles of the Egyptian border was built in order to cut the supply of primary resources. Shortly after between 100,000 to 110,000 children, women, and elderly people and 600,000 animals were moved to the Sirte desert in concentration camps in Suluq, El Magrun, Abyar and El Agheila where 16 concentration camps had been built.
This destructive period went on from 1929 until 1934. The local population died of starvation, untreated diseases and overall deprivation of support and aid. In addition to starvation and disease, people in the camps were traumatized by the continuous public executions of prisoners and by “marad”. This word describes the physical and psychological trauma caused by the separation of the herds from the seminomad population. In their culture, animal/human unity was essential and seeing that their herds were being left to die of hunger was unbearable. Almost 168,000 animals were captured and killed.
By the end it was estimated that a total number of 60,000 to 70,000 people died. The total number of Libyans who died either through combat or mainly due to starvation and disease is unclear, however, in 1910 the Libyan population was made up of around 1.5 million people while in 1943 it had significantly decreased to 800,000. Ilan Pappé estimates that between 1928 and 1932 the Italian military “killed half the Bedouin population (directly or through disease and starvation in camps).” Italian historian Emilio Gentile estimates 50,000 deaths resulting from the suppression of resistance.

#the link with prev's tag is that if you're italian you shouldn't get mad at the tag#but rather read it as “fuck the italian government” and... you should agree lmfao

Im feel so broke up I wanna go home
by Just_Vibing_and_Thriving, quotidian_void Tim and Jason are pretty much having a normal day at school. Until a stranger appears, claiming that Tim's parents got into an accident. There is no clue, barely a trace, and the GCPD have a mole. Batman, Robin and Nightwing are now Tim's only hope.
