For Better, For Worse: Vostanik Sabatino x Reader
Tagging: @thiashazzywriting @words-and-seeds @kmc1989
Mentions of 3+1: Sassy
Itâs your sister Sassy that fucks everything up.
That and the hashtags #SabatinoWedding, #MrsVostanikSabatino #Mysisterswedding
Both you and Nik make a point of not being on social media. Itâs too dangerous with your line of work, especially with Nikâs history in the CIA. Working with Nell and Eric has given you insight into how easy it can be to infiltrate peopleâs lives through those platforms and the both of you have fucked up a lot of shit for a lot of bad people.
Throughout the duration of your relationship, you have expressed the importance of this upon your sister. Youâve never told Sassy that Nik used to be CIA, as far as sheâs concerned, heâs worked private security abroad for the few couple of years before he took a job with the US Mashallâs office.
Pictures of yourself are fine, you tell her, but none of us.
The issue is sheâs a self-absorbed Valley Girl.
You donât realise sheâs completely ignored you until it becomes a problem.
The problem being you come home to find your house trashed and your husband beating the shit of out of a man whose broken in with the intention of murdering you both. Your gun is already in your hand when you see the second man coming for Nik with a combat knife in his hand. You donât hesitate to pull the trigger. Three shots centre mass and the son of bitch collapses before he even lays a hand on your man.
Nik flinches at the sound, his head wheeling towards you as blood streams down the left side of his face from a cut in his hair line. Thereâs a bruise already blossoming along his jaw. You shove down the rage that courses through your body as you help him to subdue the one thatâs still living.
âThey were waiting for me when I got home.â He tells you as he sits on the floor with his back against the wall, his elbows resting on his knees. He uses the back of his hand to wipe the blood from his forehead before it can drip into his eyes. âThey moved like they were military."
You kneel down in front of him, a warm, damp cloth in your hand. You tip his chin up so that you can study his features and he closes his eyes as you gently clean away the crimson streaks that cover his skin.
âI donât understand how this happened.â He murmurs, his voice a little raspy. You can see black bruising already forming across his throat, evidence of a chokehold. âWeâre both so careful.â
âWeâll figure it out.â You say softly, your fingertips ghosting across his cheek. âI promise you we will.â
***
Thereâs silence in the Ops Centre as the two of you stand before the huge wall length screen, reviewing your sisterâs Instagram account: SuddenlySassy. Youâve never laid eyes on it before; youâve never needed to. What youâre seeing right now fills you with a sense of fury because Sassy did not listen to a word you said.
Despite your request thereâs pictures of both you and Nik from the wedding all over her feed, the venue tagged. Thereâs even a video of your first dance to Vance Joyâs âFire and the Floodâ posted up in her Reels for the entire world to see.
This is how they found you, you realise, through your sisterâs social media.
When Deeks calls, he finds the venue was broken into earlier in the week, the only thing taken were the records pertaining to wedding billings, your address would have been in that documentation.
Beside you Nik clears his throat as he crosses his arms over his chest. You donât even have to look at him to know that his jaw is clenched and his lips pursed together. He has a fraught relationship with Sassy at the best of times, heâs lost track of how much heâs had to bite his tongue because despite the fact he hates her, he respects you.
âMy sister almost killed you.â You find yourself whispering as you lean back against the desk.
It horrifies you how close youâd come to losing the man you love because of your sisterâs inability to actually do as sheâs told.
Nik says nothing. Heâs always known how selfish Sassy is, but sheâs the only family you have left, and he knows how important she is to you. You ask Nell to delete the Instagram account, not just the posts about the two of you but the whole thing. Itâs then he realises youâre finally at the end of your tether.
He loses track of you for a while after that, heâs chasing down the guys who hired the hit with Deeks while you handle things back in Ops. When you get to the safe house that night, he busies himself unpacking his things while you sit down on the bed, your hands pressed between your knees. This whole thing has taken a toll on you.
Nikâs already planning the next steps because he knows youâre not in the right mindset to even consider anything beyond this moment. The two of you are going to have to move, change up your routines because thereâs no telling if your information was sold on the open market. Nikâs already started looking at listings.
When he turns to face you, he can see youâre exhausted and overwrought. Itâs in the quiet moments at the end of the mission that it all comes crashing down on you, the emotions youâve been supressing they rush to the surface because the adrenaline fades and youâre forced to confront the reality of what happened.
âWe wonât be seeing Sassy for a while.â You say quietly as he sits down alongside of you.
âI would never ask you to do that.â He says he takes your hand in his. His thumb chases over your wedding ring and he remembers that moment he looked into your eyes as he placed it on your finger. For better or for worse he had promised you, and that included Sassy. âI know how much she means to you.â
âNik.â You say softly, tilting your head towards him. âWhen I told her what happened today, she was more concerned about her social media accounts than the fact sheâs blown up our entire life. She refused to acknowledge she did anything wrong and I know sheâd do it again in a heartbeat if she thought it would get her more attention. I canât take that risk, youâre too important to me.â
He hears your voice break just a little and he knows that itâs hard. Your sister is the only biological family you had felt, he canât imagine how tough it must be to make a decision this, but the thing is he agrees with it because the life youâre building itâs going to require more stability in the future. You canât take the risk of something like this happening again, especially not with a kid in the mix. The two of you have been talking about it a lot recently. He thinks itâll happen in the next couple of years.
âThe thing that terrified me today was thinking about what would have happened if you got home before I did.â He finds himself telling you, his voice raw with emotion.
Heâs gone over the scenario a thousand times in his head and the images, they haunt him. Youâre both highly trained but the guys who came after him today were too. He knows when he gets in the shower later, his body is going to be riddled with bruises, he can already feel the stiffness setting in as he sits beside you.
âI keep thinking of the next time, what if Iâm pregnant, what if we have kidsâŠâ You trail off squeezing his hand tightly. âThatâs why I have to do this. I have to protect our family, the one we have now and the one weâll have in the future.â

This gives me such Sabatino vibes. He comes home from a mission with the CIA, can't stand not to be touching you for one more minute. He has you pinned, hands above your head as he fucks you slowly, making sure you know exactly how he feels.

3 Times Sabatino Thought About Proposing and the 1 Time He Did - Part Four: Cake - Vostanik Sabatino x Reader (feat: Nina Barnes)
Tagging: @kmc1989 @words-and-seeds @novamariestark @whateversomethingbruh @trublu2u @stelacole @@elixae
Part One: Adjustment Period - Nik decides it's time to propose.
Part Two: Sassy - Nik's plans to propose are thwarted by your sister Sassy.
Part Three: Love Language - Nik loses the ring during a footchase.
Sabatino decides to call it quits on the proposal. Itâs clear to him at this point that itâs not the right time, that the universe keeps throwing up obstacles for a reason. All he wants is for it to be special for you, but he keeps just fucking it up. The pressure is stressing him out and itâs starting to affect the relationship. You can tell heâs hiding something from you and the fact he refuses to discuss it creates an issue. Thereâs always been things he hasnât been able to tell you, you accept that, but this is different.
The pause will hopefully give him a little breathing room.
Things go back to normal; he lives in the present instead of being preoccupied with the future. He starts to have fun again, exist in the moment. The two of you spend the weekend taking some time to reacquaint with each other. His jobâs been a little manic and youâve been working a case with the FBI, youâve barely existed in the same space over the past couple of weeks. He spends Saturday morning in bed with you, his hands chasing over your skin as he makes love to you in freshly laundered sheets. After dinner you go for a walk on the beach because youâre craving sweet and heâs thinking ice cream.
He lives for moments like this, strolling down the boardwalk, his fingers entwined with yours. There werenât many of them when he was working for the CIA, now he treasures every single one.
The sun is setting when you come across Ninaâs cupcake truck. Your eyes light up, and ice cream is completely forgotten because he knows how much you love her Red Velvet cupcakes and she only has one left. He leaves you sitting on a bench, watching the ocean roll up on the shore. He knows you find it soothing, the crash of the waves, the motion of the water.
âA little bird tells me youâre planning on locking that down.â Nina says, gesturing towards you when he orders the cupcakes.
âI was.â Sabatino tells her as he hands over the cash. âBut the universe had other plans, so here we are.â
âYou got in your own head.â Nina says knowingly as she opens up two individual cake boxes.
âThereâs a lot of pressure to get it right you know?â He explains, his palm running over the nape of his neck. "It was causing a few issues between the two of us, so I shut it down."
Nina rests her elbows on the counter before leaning forward.
âMaybe itâs for the best.â She says with a shrug before picking up an icing bag and tilting the red velvet cupcake towards her. âI mean youâre already falling down at the first hurdle.â
âFirst hurdle?â He repeats with a bitter laugh. âTrust me, there have been plenty of hurdles and weâve cleared every single one of them.â
âUh huh.â She says as she surveys her work on the cupcake. âThen this little one should be no problem.â
She shows him the cupcake and his gaze flickers up to her in disbelief when he reads the words âMarry Me.â
âAre you serious?â He asks her, his hands on his hips.
âItâs cute right?â She says before putting it away into its own box. âAnd itâs perfect for her. Sheâs low maintenance and this is something a little bit special. Not too showy but personalised. Even you canât fuck it up.â
He hates to say it but sheâs right. He couldnât have chosen a more perfect moment. The tide is coming in, the waves creeping up the shore and the light is just sublime, that cascade of colours illuminating the beach.
âWhat do I owe you?â He asks her, taking the box begrudgingly.
âI get to make the cake for your wedding.â She barters with him.
He gives her a look before he crosses his arms over his chest and sighs.
âFine, if she says yes, then you get to make the cake.â He agrees before pointing his finger at her. âBut if she says no, I get free cupcakes for life.â
âYea thatâs not happening.â She tells him, shaking her head. âIf she says no, you get a pity cupcake, this one time and thatâs it.â
âDeal.â He agrees before turning his back on Nina and focusing his attention on more important things.
You rise to your feet when he appears alongside of you, the individual cupcake box in his hand. You smile as you take it from him. That smile, it lights up his entire world and he knows that this is it, this is his moment.
He has the ring in his hand when you open the box, he watches as you study the writing before you tilt your head towards him.
âNikâŠâ
He doesnât get down on one knee. Itâs not your dynamic. Your partnership has always been based on mutual respect, meeting your challenges face to face and thatâs how he intends to do this. He takes your hand in his, the ring clasped tightly between his fingers.
âAlana, I have loved you since that day you showed up in Afghanistan and every day, I loved you more. I want to grow old with you, start a family with you, I wantâŠâ He pauses for a moment, his voice rough as he struggles to find the words. âI want you to be my wife. So, Iâm just a boy standing in front of a girl with a cupcake, asking her to marry me.â
You laugh and itâs such a rich, beautiful sound. He hopes he gets to spend the rest of his life hearing it.
âYes Nik.â You say as he slips the ring onto your finger. âOf course, Iâll be your wife.â

Deeks:Â Â Â Former member of the Kiss Army. Fatima:Â Â Running things in Ops with Rountree Rountree:Â Â See Fatima. Kilbride:Â Â Calling the Argentinean military about some missing guns.
Where in the world is Henrietta Lange? Hopefully somewhere where Callen, Sam, Nell, Nate, Sabatino and the New Guy can find her.
Who's down with OTP:Â Â One got married, one is having a baby.
Who's down with BrOTP:Â Â The showâs central relationship is doing just fine.
Fashion review: The main characters all wore their Part 1 clothes for most of the episode. Sam changed into a black Carhart jacket, black tee and black pants as Switch. At the wedding, Callen and Sam looked spiffy in their tuxedos. Callen wore a bow tie, Sam a long black silk tie. Kensi wore a lovely grey gown. Deeks went with fashion forward with a pink jacket, crisp white dress shirt with no tie and black pants. Fatima wore a beautiful red gown. Rountree went with a dark suit and a white tee-shirt. The Admiral work his work suit, which transitioned nicely into evening wear. At the end of the episode, Callen is in a light blue button down shirt, Sam is wearing an olive green field coat with a black baseball cap.
Music:  âPrivate Numberâ by William Bell featuring Judy Clay played in the after wedding scenes. âMidunyaâ by Moroccan Spirit was playing when Callen and Sam arrived in Morocco. âHold On, Iâm Comingâ by Sam & Dave ended the episode.
Any notable cut scene: Â No.
Quote: Â âI most certainly do.â
Anything else:Â Previously-s including the Admiral meeting with Adams, the team meeting with Newsome, meeting with Nina Barnes, the fight in the bad guyâs house and learning that Kerry Adams is dirty.
The shooting continues in the garage. Callen and Sam find cover behind two different cement columns as Adams and her driver reload. The time reloading gives Callen and Sam the window to shoot both Adams and her driver. Adams is alive and trying to get to her weapon. Callen gets to her gun first. He calls for an ambulance. She doesnât know how Callen and Sam figured things out.
The opening credits are a nice mix of 14-seasons worth of credits.
Callen, Sam and in an-Ops Fatima and Rountree debate whether Adams was dirty and setting up Newsome to take the fall or if Adams and Newsome were working together. If Newsome is dirty, Kensi and Deeks could be in trouble.   Fatima will contact the two about the change in the ATFâs relationship with NCIS. Rountree has news from Commander Collins. About 90% of the stolen weapons are used by the Argentinean military. The Admiral is going to tell Argentinaâs military that someone is stealing from their bunkers.
On overwatch, Deeks is out of snacks. Kensi isnât eating â they arenât on a picnic, they are on overwatch. They debate whether Newsome is dirty or not. Deeks wants to play âI Spyâ, Kensi really does not.
In the boat shed, Castor brings Nina Barnes to a patiently waiting Callen and Sam. Castor and Barnes have Starbucks â Castor ordered a girly drink. Callen wanted Barnes to appear because it was âurgentâ but obviously she didnât think it was urgent.  Since sheâs not getting paid, sheâs running on her schedule. Callen asks if Barnes knows who is moving the weapons. She does not have a name but the weapon buyers but knows they are moving the money with special fund exchange where she may or may not have an account. Barnes thinks she can set up an arrangement with the weapons broker. Asked about how the money is moved, Barnes explains that everything is done with an air-gapped computer. âGood luck with that.âÂ
All dressed in black, Barnes is reading to make the deal with âSwitchâ. She sees the new armory in the boat shed and thinks it had to be Kibrideâs idea. He had a similar set-up when he lived in Texas but the guns came up from the ground. Callen, Sam and Barnes leave to make a deal with the gunrunners.
Sam and Barnes go to a up for rent restaurant to meet with the gunrunners. Sam takes a weapon from the boat shedâs armory.
With Kilbride keeping Fatima and Rountree in Ops, Kensi and Deeks are on their own watching Newsome. Deeks takes out his earwig, Kensi does the same. Saying they donât have to be so far away in overwatch, he wants them to move up closer to Newsome and the bad guys. Kensi could check out the van with the weapons while Deeks causes a distraction with some âbubble gum.â
In the restaurant, Sam and Barnes are searched even though she ânever has anything on me.â The guard findâs Samâs gun. Heâll get it when their business is completed. A man, Bryant, comes from the kitchen. Heâs not happy, the rules are Barnes only comes alone â who is her guest. Sam introduces himself as Switch saying âthis bitch owes me money.â Since Barnes has credits in the system, she wants to cash out - $110,000, a specific number for a specific man.
From Ops, Rountree has the schematics of the restaurant and will guide Callen to where he needs to be. Meanwhile, Fatima is cutting cell service so Callen will have to use satellite technology to stay in contact with Ops. Callen makes his way into the building, just missing being seen by Bryant and his guard. Bryant notices there is no cell service. Heâs off to check if Barnes has enough money in her account.
The guard returns to Sam and Barnes â Bryant is getting approval to move the money. Sam/Switch isnât interested in approval, heâs interested in getting his money. Barnes wants the money â it is her money.
Deeks is yelling near the gate of the bad guyâs house, looking for Bubble Gum, his Burmese python that gone missing. The last time he slithered away, he ate a coyote and was sick. The guys at the front gate want nothing to do with âfreak boyâ Deeks. Kensi is able to get near the vans and place cameras on the vehicle. Deeks is going on about his hypoglycemic snake. Fatima and Rountree are getting feeds from the cameras. Deeks is warning the guys at the front gate that their dogs, cats, platypusâs are all in danger with Bubble Gum slithering free. When Deeks gets the all clear, he leaves after seeing Bubblegum.
Walking into Ops, the Admiral sees that Kensi is just outside of the house and Deeks is by the gates. He also sees video of the weapons inside the vans being sent by the cameras Kensi attached.  Unhappy the plan was not âvetted by meâ, the Admiral wants Kensi and Deeks back on overwatch until the team knows who is running the guns. He also asks if Callen has found the air-gapped computer. He has not. This isnât good â âweâre running out of time,â according the Admiral.Â
The Admiral tells Fatima and Rountree there is a lot of admire about the senior members of the team, a lot to learn from them. Rountree says theyâve learned a lot from them. The Admiral was not in the mood to be interrupted since he wasnât finished. Kilbride does not want Fatima and Rountree to learn that disobeying orders is appropriate. Fatima wonders if Kensi and Deeks were âtechnicallyâ disobeying orders. They were according to the Admiral, âwhat the hell would you call it?â When there is no answer, the Admiral demands one since there are no wrong answers. Rountree thinks Kensi and Deeks showed initiative. âWrong,â the Admiral yells â seems there were wrong answers. Also, Fatima sort of smiles and that doesnât help her cause. She finally raises her hand wondering if they should join Kensi and Deeks in the field. That goes over poorly. They will remain in Ops to support the team.
Callen gets Bryant into a sleeper hold, knocking the man out. A few zip-ties later and Callen is at the stopgap computer. With his satellite phone, he gets Fatima and Rountree into the computer.  Fatima finds who got the weapons to the gunrunner while Rountree looks for the buyer â Maximillian Dana. Dana is a businessman with restaurants, dry cleaners and other stores. Obviously he also sells guns. Kilbride gives the green light â Callen and Sam can end their work at the restaurant, Kensi and Deeks can secure the weapons.
Just as Callen is about to get offline, the Bryantâs guard walks in. He takes a few shots at Callen before Callen can take him down. The shooting in the back of restaurant has Sam, Barnes and the guards in the front of the restaurants all pointing fingers at each other. Sam thinks the cops are coming. One of the guards starts shooting. Barnes pulls a gun from her bra and takes him down. Sam takes a gun from one of the guards. Barnes covers Sam as he gets back his weapon. The two take out the last guard. Sam gets an all clear from Callen before childing Barnes for not telling him she was armed. She likes the element of surprise, besides âreal gentlemen never touch the good stuff.â The gun is her âDouble D-Defender.â
As she moves to the house, Kensi is taken by surprise by a guard coming up from behind her. The two struggle falling through a glass door. Kensi is off comms at this point so Fatima sends in Deeks behind her.  He jumps a fence to get to her, making sure the guard near Kensi stays unarmed. âGod I love you,â Deeks tells her before two other guards arrive. Kensi takes out one, Deeks the other in a show of great teamwork. Both Fatima and Rountree are impressed by Kensiâs work.
In the bad guysâ playroom, one of the two remaining henchmen says heâs lost contact with the other guards. This causes the two to go after Newsome. They think heâs a cop. âKill him.â  Hiding in a closet, Newsome knocks out one of the henchmen, getting his weapon. The other henchman makes a threat against Newsome. With the big weapon from the bad guy, Newsome shoots out a wall, shooting henchmen number two.
Outside of the house, the surviving henchmen are being taken away in ambulances. Kensi and Deeks are sitting the back of an open police SUV when Newsome comes by. While it is tough for him to admit, he was happy to have NCISâs help. He promises that if NCIS ever needs help, heâs there. Deeks start talking about all the NCIS team members going lone wolf at different parts of their time with the agency and it rarely works. Newsome has heard enough to know he likes working alone. As he departs, Kensi gets a text. Callen wants to meet with them in Beverly Hills. If Kensi and Deeks leave right now, they could swing by Rosaâs softball games. Deeks likes the idea of hot dogs and soda. That gets a âhoo-hoo-hoo-hooâ from Kensi.
Rountree is waiting for Jordyn. Her alumni interview went well. Her grades and professor recommendations are among the best theyâve ever seen and certainly the best this year. Jordyn feels Rountree âoozing negative energy.â Rountree explains that there is news in their case. There will be no LAPD trial. Jordyn is shocked. There will be a settlement and while Jordyn doesnât want to, Rountree tells her it is a lot of money. It will pay for all of Jordynâs medical school tuition/expenses with enough money left over that they could buy a condo and stop paying rent. They donât have to make the decision today but they do have to make a decision.  Rountree thinks the best outcome of this terrible incident is that they can change the trajectory of their family tree. Jordyn disagrees â they changed that by both being college graduates. Now Rountree disagrees â Jordyn is going to have more than a college degree, sheâs going to be a doctor. Rountree reminds Jordyn that she did all the hard work â getting the grads, studying, acing her interview. Heâs âdamn proudâ to call her his sister.
Callen walks into his house as Arkady and Anna are bickering about the seating plan. Arkady asks Callen where should he sit for the wedding. âIn the parking lot,â is Callenâs answer. Anna will let Arkady pick his seat if he brings one guest. Arkady explains he was always a âplus twoâ wedding guest. The conversation turns to Titan the DJ and Callen wants no part of it. He wants to speak privately to Anna, who is about to go but first she warns Arkady that if he touches the seating chart, âI will cut you.â Arkady is proud â Anna reminds him of her mother. âAnd you see what that got her.â And adds âshe will always be my minus one.â
Saying sheâs going to kill Arkady, Callen tells Anna to give him the headâs up â Arkady is too big to move alone. âNot if I cut him into pieces.â Callen asks Anna if she still wants to get married. She does but is worried he doesnât. He does.  He really does. He just doesnât want to do it this way. Anna apologizes that the wedding planning has gone badly. Callen promises Anna that none of this matters â he wants to get married now. âNow now, right now.â Anna says she looks like a mess. They can get married at City Hall. Anna can wear her dress, Callen will borrow a tux from work. Arkady can go if Anna wants him there. Callen even called Stacey, Annaâs maid of honor. Sheâs out of town. Anna has a backup plan. She is grateful to Callen. The two kiss.
Kensi cannot believe that Callen and Anna are getting married. She is putting on an nice gown. An arriving Rosa has two dresses â a blue one with polka dots and a pink and green floral dress â and she canât decide. Kensi like the pink and green. Deeks shows up in a dress shirt without his pants. He canât find them but Kensi tells him they are in the laundry. Asked by Rosa which dress, Deeks thinks theyâre both beautiful but obviously, the blue one. Rosa thinks her parents arenât helping.
Kensi struggles to zip up the back of her dress when the phone rings. Deeks canât get the phone so Kensi answers. It is Dr. Cassell asking how Kensi feels. Sheâs thinking of sticking with the bland diet. The doctor gives her news and she starts crying. Deeks returns, asking about his shoes. Kensi ends the call and sheâs really crying. Deeks is as upset as she is â wanting to know how was on the phone. The two hug, heâs scared sheâs not talking. She finally tells him, âweâre having a baby.â Deeks is stunned â they tried everything and nothing worked. The two hug again. Heâs thrilled it wasnât her food that made her sick. Kensi starts to laugh. A returning Rosa asks whatâs going on. Deeks tells her sheâs going to be a big sister. Rosa is happy too. The three have a big family hug. Kensi wants them to keep this all a secret â today is about Callen and Anna. âWho?â Deeks asks before agreeing to keep things quiet. Deeks want to confirm things with Dr. Cassell.
At the courthouse, Callen and Sam are dressed in their fancy tuxedos. Callen thanks Sam for being his best man. âI would not be here today if it wasnât for you.â Sam agrees. Callen wonders if Sam feels the same. After teasing about some heartfelt moments being missed, Sam agrees. The two shares âI loves youâsâ and a big hug. Callen is ready to get married. The guests are in the middle of the courthouse floor. Rountree, Deeks, Bertie, Rosa, Arkady, Admiral and Fatima are all waiting. All smiling. Anna arrives with Kensi as her bridesmaid and a judge. âLetâs get ready to rumble,â the judge says.
Callen and Anna say their âI doâsâ with a weeping Arkady watching over Kensiâs shoulder. Callen jumped the gun on his âI doâ, cracking up the crowd before saying âI most certainly do.â The two exchange rings and their first married kiss. The Admiral wishes Callen and Anna their best. Kensi thinks Anna looks stunning, Anna thinks Kensi is glowing. Deeks is eyeballing Arkady and Bertie together. Rosa thinks Arkady and Bertie make a great couple. Deeks asks Rosa if Arkady is what she wants in a grandpa.
Fatima catches Annaâs bouquet, with a âhoo-hoo-hoo-hooâ from Rountree this time. She tries to pass him the bouquet but he passes it right. Fatima jokingly calls him a coward.
Sam gives Callen another hug â he was sure heâd never see the day Callen would be happily married. A man speaking Arabic comes up to Callen and Sam, offering a letter complete with a wax seal, saying âMay God protect you, have a blessed day,â translated by Sam.Â
As the man leaves, Sam goes after him while Callen opens the letter. It is from Hetty, who offers congratulations on the wedding and disappointment that she is missing âa glorious occasionâ.  While people think she never had a family, Hetty begs to differ, she has had the greatest family a person could wish for âand so have you.â Callen looks up and sees everyone at the wedding have a great time. Anna comes to Callen, asking about the letter. Sam returns. He tells them about the letter, which Sam knew had to be about the wedding because Hetty is Hetty. Hetty offers her house in Mykonos for the honeymoon â âstay as long as you like.â Anna always liked Hetty.Â
Inside the envelope are plane tickets to Morocco for a small side project. Anna promises to meet Callen in Greece as long as Sam keeps Callen alive.
In Morocco, Callen and Sam are in a jeep, going to a side of the road market in their GPSâs coordinates. Callen is hoping for a cold beer, Sam thinks heâll be lucky to get some mint tea. Callen prefers mouthwash. Sam is hoping some of the locals speak French. Callen is confused â Sam speaks Arabic. He does, but not the local Darija Arabic spoken by the Morocco locals.Â
Callen is drawn to a little woman drinking tea. Saying âHettyâ, the little woman is Nell. Hetty has gotten herself into a little pickle and Nell with her team is having a hard time getting Hetty out. âDonât tell me Bealeâs here with you,â Callen says. Beale is giving a TED talk in Singapore. Nellâs team arrives â Nate, with a pornstache, Sabatino and the New Guy who is really named Willis even if Sabatino only calls him New Guy. Nate tells Callen and Sam their up to their asses in alligators. Having Callen and Sam there is going to help. Callen notes they were brought to Morocco under false circumstances.  Nell gives a very Hetty answer: âSubterfuge is the foundation of good espionage.â âYouâre getting more like Hetty every day,â Sam tells Nell, who takes it like a compliment. Nell is working on a plan. Sam and Daveâs âHold On, Iâm Comingâ plays as Nell asks if Callen and Sam are ready for their new adventure. They are.
What head canon can be formed from here:    This is how you do fan service. Almost every major character got their storyline wrapped up. Callen, who opened the series as the orphan without a first name, is Grisha who has a living sister, a nephew, a new bride and a wacky father-in-law. Kensi opened the series as the woman who lost all the men in her life now had a loving husband and was starting a family of her own. Deeks is a variation of this â his fracture family in childhood has become a loving wife, daughter and a baby on the way. Rountreeâs conversation with Jordyn in Part I changed their family tree with their educations but the settlement with LAPD lets the two move forward with those changes.
As for Sam, I think they knew he was moving to NCIS: Hawaiâi for a season.  Sam, the family man, spent the season keeping his son in the air, reminded his daughter that he loves her for the person she is not for the persons she chooses to love and took care of the father who helped make him the man he was. He could leave them for a year knowing everyone is in a good place. Speaking of fathers and sons getting to a good place, the Admiral getting basically his own episode to start repairing his relationship with his son.
The only one who didnât quite get her own ending was Fatima. Catching the bouquet at the wedding may be a hint of where she may wind up with Ali but she was the only character really left hanging.
Planning a season wrap-up next week and a series review week after that.Â
Thank you for reading these over the years. The program got me back into fannish things after a long break. The community here in Tumblr is terrific. This is how you fandom.
Episode number:Â Â This is both the season 14 finale and the series finale, episode number 323.

Why is Sam (LL COOL J) in Hawaiâi? Thatâs the mystery thatâs been set up across the first three episodes of NCIS: Hawaiâi Season3, and as Vanessa Lachey told us, âTennant will figure it out.â Well, weâre certainly seeing her trying to do just that.
It all began in the premiere, when Ernie (Jason Antoon) tried to get anything out of Sam, only to come to the conclusion that heâs hiding something, despite the agentâs insistence heâs not. Then, in the second episode, Swift (Henry Ian Cusick), on his way out, told Tennant that Sam was sticking around and sheâd have to ask him why. Sam evaded the question and would only say that brass has him teaching a seminar on unconventional tactics in modern law enforcement.
Now, in the third episode, Ernie remains suspicious of Sam, especially since heâs going around telling everyone about that seminar, as he notes to Tennant. Itâs odd, that NCIS would send its top OSP agent to Hawaiâi to teach a class. She agrees, but she doesnât get anything more out of Sam, who tells her she canât attend the seminar because itâs fully booked.
Then, Tennant and Kai (Alex Tarrant) find Sam has taken over the war roomâand set it to SCIF (sensitive compartmented information facility) levelâfor some work. âI was checking in with Kensi and Deeks back in LA, getting some details about a past case,â he claims, agreeing, when she suggests it, that it was for his seminar. âSafety first,â he says. Tennantâs clearly not buying any of it ⊠which is why she tracks his visitor IDâs access and follows when he sets foot in the old admin basement across the street that hasnât been used since WWII. Inside, she finds him teaching his seminar. Itâs both as frustrating as Tennant finds it and entertaining as it sounds. But come on, would you expect this to play out any other way?
Karen Neal/CBS
At the end of the episode, Tennant joins Sam on his boat, and he again pretends heâs just in Hawaiâi for the seminar. As far as an official cover goes, itâs a good one, she remarks, reminding him, âI spent half my life as a CIA officer. I know cover.â It doesnât matter what she believes, she adds, just that she trusts him and she knows heâll tell her why heâs really in Hawaiâi when he can.
But weâre not as patient as Tennant is. Now, we have to wonder if Sam was really talking to Kensi and Deeks (played by Daniela Ruah and Eric Christian Olsen on NCIS: Los Angeles, which ended its 14-season run in May 2023) or someone else, plus if it was about a past case or something else. Before he came to the island, Sam was last seen in the LA finale in Morocco, alongside Callen (Chris OâDonnell), Nell (RenĂ©e Felice Smith), and the team sheâd put togetherâincluding Nate (Peter Cambor) and Sabatino (Erik Palladino)âas part of the mission to rescue Hetty. He was still there and therefore in the neighborhood, when he came to Tennant and Kateâs (Tori Anderson) aid in the Hawaiâi Season 2 finale.
Could Sam have been talking to Kensi and Deeks or someone from that team Nell put together about Hetty? We havenât heard anything about that mission to rescue her. What if Samâs in Hawaiâi because thatâs the only place to get information as to her location or something that will help there? Or maybe thereâs another open case that Samâs working and he was talking to Kensi and Deeks about that. It could even technically be a past case that was never closed and therefore he wasnât technically lying to Tennant and Kai. This could be why LL COOL J was vague when we tried to find out if weâd get an update on any of the LA characters with him now on Hawaiâi.
Whateverâs going on, at least itâs clear that we will get answers, with Ernie suspicious and Tennant letting Sam know that he can talk to her when he can. What do you think is going on? Let us know in the comments below.

The text of the letter and names of the celebrities that signed it under the cut.
"October 23, 2023Â
Dear President Biden,
We are heartened by Fridayâs release of the two American hostages, Judith Ranaan and her daughter Natalie Ranaan and by todayâs release of two Israelis, Nurit Cooper and Yocheved Lifshitz, whose husbands remain in captivity.
But our relief is tempered by our overwhelming concern that 220 innocent people, including 30 children, remain captive by terrorists, threatened with torture and death. They were taken by Hamas in the savage massacre of October 7, where over 1,400 Israelis were slaughtered - women raped, families burned alive, and infants beheaded.Â
Thank you for your unshakable moral conviction, leadership, and support for the Jewish people, who have been terrorized by Hamas since the groupâs founding over 35 years ago, and for the Palestinians, who have also been terrorized, oppressed, and victimized by Hamas for the last 17 years that the group has been governing Gaza.
We all want the same thing: Freedom for Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side in peace. Freedom from the brutal violence spread by Hamas. And most urgently, in this moment, freedom for the hostages.Â
We urge everyone to not rest until all hostages are released. No hostage can be left behind. Whether American, Argentinian, Australian, Azerbaijani, Brazilian, British, Canadian, Chilean, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Eritrean, Filipino, French, German, Indian, Israeli, Italian, Kazakh, Mexican, Panamanian, Paraguayan, Peruvian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, South African, Spanish, Sri Lankan, Thai, Ukrainian, Uzbekistani or otherwise, we need to bring them home.Â
Sincerely,Â
