Todd Cameron Smith, 14, was a student at W.R. Myers High School in Taber, Alberta, Canada. During his years at the school, he was bullied tremendously. He was ridiculed for his appearance and mocked for being “pudgey.” One beating left him with a hole in his lip so large he could poke his tongue through it. “When he was truant, he’d be hiding behind the sofa. He was scared to go to school,” said Dr. Clive Chamberlain. On one occasion, he was doused with lighter fluid and threatened to be set on fire.

In mid-1999, Smith’s friend moved away from Taber and Smith’s loneliness and anger exasperated. And then, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold perpetrated the Columbine massacre. Smith became fixated. Eight days later, Smith unlocked his stepfather’s gun cabinet, lifted out a .2-calibre rifle and went to his school. He had 350 rounds of live ammunition in his coat pocket and 25 rounds loaded into the gun. Once inside, Smith began to open fire. He shot and killed 16-year-old Jason Lang and seriously wounded another student. He was wrestled to the ground by gym coach, Cheyno Finnie, before he could fire any more rounds.

Following his arrest, the prosecution argued that Smith was obsessed with violence and that he couldn’t generate true remorse for his actions. In a search of the Brookside Youth Centre where he was being held, several pieces of paper were found where smith had wrote: “I’ll rip your arm off and beat you with the wet end, then I’ll feed it to your dog and rape your girlfriend.” A forensic psychiatrist refuted that a pre-existing medical condition - high blood pressure on the brain - may have led to the violent outburst.

Smith was sentenced to three years after pleading guilty to first-degree murder in 2000. Smith wasn’t publicly identified until 2005 after he escaped from a halfway house in Toronto. Police had to apply to the Ontario provincial youth court with an affidavit in order for the request to be granted. Following the shooting, the father of Jason Lang, Reverend Dale Lang, forgave Smith for his actions. Following the murder of his son, he became a staunch advocate for anti-bullying.

The first episode of the Star Wars inspired cartoon Ewoks premiered on September 7, 1985. The series, along with the similarly Star Wars inspired Droids, was one of the most expensively produced cartoons in the 1980's. The events of the series took place before their introduction in Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi. While the main character Wicket was played by Warwick Davis in ROTJ, he was voiced by Jim Henshaw (and Denny Delk in the second season) in the cartoon. The first episode featured the Tulga Witch Morga (Jackie Burroughs) plans to burn down the forest on the Endor moon. The episode featured other RTOJ characters Chief Chirpa (movie Jane Busby/ cartoon George Buza/Rick Cimino), Teebo (movie Jack Purvis/ cartoon Eric Peterson/James Cranna) and Logray (movie Mike Edmonds /cartoon Douglas Chamberlain). Olga Valerianovna Pistolkors (1865 – 1929) came from the ancient Little Russian family of Karnovich. (...) Her mother, Olga Vasilievna Messarosh, was an educated and attractive woman.

Olga Valerianovna, known in the family as Lyolya, grew up as a smart and inquisitive girl, wrote poems and played music well. She had a pleasant appearance and knew how to behave with dignity in society.

At nineteen and a half years old, Olga Karnovich married Lieutenant of the Horse Guards Eric-Gerhard von Pistohlkors, and soon gave birth to her husband three beautiful children. [Alexander in 1885, Olga in 1888 and Marianne in 1890].

A young, elegant lady with good manners, the wife of a guards officer, Olga Valerianovna knew how to win over those around her. Everyone admired her, so Olga Pistolkors quickly acquired many devoted admirers. Among her admirers was Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich. Olga Valerianovna, who openly had an affair with the Grand Duke, managed to become friends with his wife, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna the Elder. They became true friends. Mrs. Pistolkors was a welcome guest at the court of Vladimir Alexandrovich and Maria Pavlovna.

Eric Pistohlkors turned a blind eye to his wife's hobbies, while his career was rapidly advancing. He became a colonel and adjutant to Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich.

The Allmusic review stated “Jeremy Steig’s jazz-funk throwdown, Firefly, is one of the great forgotten masterpieces of the genre… Firefly was designed for the purpose of being a hit in the dance clubs, and it should have been, because it kicks ass on that level as well as on the jazz-funk beam… This is burning”.
