Silence in the rain

› 𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝘅 𝗳𝗲𝗺!𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿
› 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 : Trying to flee after the rush of people, you run into a boy who doesn't seem to want to stop following you after helping him.
› 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 : I watched this movie yesterday and as a fan of Joseph Quinn, I simply fell in love with Eric, I need more of him. + English is not my first language, sorry if there are any mistakes 😿

The large and loud raindrops fell with no intention of stopping. Minutes earlier, the helicopters had asked us to move to the water's edge, supposedly to be rescued, but it seemed everything went wrong. The creatures emerged from their hiding places and attacked us. The brief moment of calm vanished in less than five seconds. People were screaming and running in all directions. To be honest, I doubted we would get out of here.
I hid under a car, waiting for whoever was still around to leave. Carefully, I started to emerge from my hiding place, praying that I wouldn't make any loud noises and attract those things again.
As soon as I came out, I couldn't help but look at the sky. It had been a long time since I had felt the rain, and despite the circumstances, I still loved it. I decided to walk toward a sheltered place, taking slow and cautious steps while hugging myself. I looked around; not a single human was nearby, only destruction—or so I thought until I saw a white cat with small black spots in front of me. It looked so unreal that I didn't know if I was hallucinating or not, so with some fear, I abandoned my plan to find shelter and approached the cute kitten.
The rain seemed to intensify more and more. I could hear a couple of thunderclaps in the distance, but I still didn't stop following the kitten, which had stayed still in what appeared to be a flooded subway entrance. The little cat turned to look at me, appearing so calm with its big, bright eyes. It then turned back to the water and bent down to drink. I took this opportunity to sit beside it, simply admiring it.
Everything was peaceful—just the kitten and me—until something emerged from the water, startling us. I jumped back, not caring much about the bump I would get, and quickly covered my mouth with my hands to stifle a possible scream. My heart was racing at an impressive speed. I didn't even want to breathe, thinking it might be one of those creatures. But all the fear vanished when I heard what sounded like heavy breathing. Slowly, I removed my hands from my mouth and approached the bars, looking down at the flooded stairs and seeing a boy.
He looked somewhat scared. I couldn't imagine how long he had been underwater. The boy looked at me, tilting his head slightly as if examining me. I frowned, and shortly after, he turned to look at the cat. The little feline was beside me, so he looked at both of us before emerging from the water.
I moved from my spot to help him, extending my hand, hoping he would take it. Though he hesitated at first, he eventually took my hand and accepted my help. Once he was out, I looked around, searching for the cat, but it seemed to have gone. However, I quickly spotted it again; it had moved three or four spots ahead, seemingly heading to an alley.
I dusted off my clothes a bit and started following the cat, but I could hear a pair of "stealthy" footsteps behind me. I knew it was him, so taking advantage of a small café's awning, I stopped and turned around, frowning at him. "Go away," I said in a low voice, to which he just shook his head.
"Why are you following me?" The boy still didn't answer, so with the little patience I had, I moved a bit closer and spoke again, this time a bit louder, "What's your name?" This time, it took him a bit longer to even make a gesture. I waited a bit before he finally spoke in almost the same tone as me, "Eric, my name is Eric."

So he sends her tons of extravagant gifts while they're separated cuz he misses her and even the inner circle is like 'isnt this a bit much?'. Until they meet up again and Eris convinces her to live with him in Autumn. I hope you like the idea and thanks for hearing me out! 💕
Treasured Yearning
Pairing: Eris x Reader
Summary: Separated by their courts, Reader and Eris navigate the strain of their newfound mating bond. Eris, sends gift after gift to try and quell the unspoken longing. As the inner circle questions Eris’s intentions, Reader must choose between the home they know and the mate who waits for them in Autumn.
Wc: 1.2k
A/N: I changed up the plot a littttlleeee bit but it’s essentially the same thing. Send in more requests specifically for Azriel and Eris, especially if they’re angsty :b
——
The gilded box rested on the polished table in the House of Wind, casting tiny flecks of amber light onto the stone walls. The sunlight streaming through the open balcony doors caught the delicate pattern carved into the wood, turning the leaves of the Autumn Court’s sigil to gold.
You drew a deep breath, preparing for the familiar, turbulent mix of emotions. The gifts always came this way, beautifully crafted and painfully personal, each one a reminder of the mate you hadn’t seen in weeks. Eris vanserra, the High Lord of Autumn, who somehow still made you feel his presence across court borders.
Cassian leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms over his broad chest. “I swear to the Cauldron, if this isn’t the most over-the-top thing he’s sent yet, I’ll eat my own boots for dinner.”
“Be kind, Cass,” Feyre murmured, her expression soft but strained, as though she was trying not to reveal too much. You could tell she was torn, watching your struggle but respecting your mate bond. Still, the strain in her voice was unmistakable.
“I’m serious,” Cassian insisted, his brows furrowing. “Six gifts in one week? That’s a bit much, even for a High Lord trying to win over his mate.”
You didn’t respond, carefully prying open the box. The velvet interior cradled a necklace—amber stones carved into perfect, tiny flames, each glowing with a life of its own. However this necklace was different from the others you’ve received, the second you grazed your finger against the stone a familiar warmth brushed against your skin as if he were here, holding you.
Mor leaned forward, her gaze sharp. “It’s manipulation,” she said, a note of disdain curling her lip. “He’s making sure you don’t forget him, tying you to him with magic and gifts. Typical Vanserra behavior.”
Her words cut deep, even though you knew she was trying to protect you. You wrapped your fingers around the necklace, the gems warm in your palm. “It’s not like that,” you murmured, but your voice wavered, and everyone heard it.
“Isn’t it?” Mor shot back, her eyes fierce. “You’ve been miserable since the mating bond snapped into place, and he’s… he’s in his court, playing High Lord. How is that fair to you?”
“Mor,” Feyre warned, but the damage was done. The room went still, and your breath caught in your throat. It wasn’t fair—none of it was fair. The bond had given you a mate who was kind and cunning, fierce and surprisingly tender, but one who was tied to a court that had never been kind to you or your friends. Yet from the second the bond had snapped he had revealed what laid behind his mask of indifference. Since then the separation was an agony Eris tried to ease with every carefully chosen gift, every whisper of warmth that only made you long for him more.
You stood, the necklace clutched tightly in your hand. “You think I don’t know that?” you asked, your voice breaking. They all fell silent, their concern and pity hanging heavy in the air. “You think I don’t feel how unfair this is every single day? But he’s doing his best. He’s…” You took a shuddering breath, fighting to keep the tears at bay. “He’s trying.”
Rhysand’s gaze softened, and he inclined his head. “We only worry because we care,” he said, his voice gentle, but there was an undercurrent of something else. Worry, perhaps. Or doubt.
You didn’t have the strength to argue. Not after having one too many since they found out about Eris. So with the necklace in hand, you left the room, feeling the weight of their concern and disapproval pressing down on you. The wind whipped around you as you stepped onto the balcony, cold and biting, a stark contrast to the warmth you craved.
You missed him. You missed him more than words could convey, and no amount of gifts could fill the space he’d left in your life. You slipped the necklace around your neck, shivering as a warm, gentle pulse spread across your skin. It was almost like he was here, standing behind you, his hands on your shoulders, whispering reassurances you desperately needed.
It won’t be forever, you told yourself. But you didn’t believe it, not really.
——
You laid in bed tossing and turning, unable to sleep as a million thoughts ran through your mind. You were never very good with the unknown, and this whole situation with your family and Eris left too much to the unknown. So you decided that you wouldn’t wait, you wouldn’t sit around until things got worse or better.
Writing a quick note you watch as it disappears to Eris. In reply, he tugs on the bond. Relief washes over you as you let out a deep breath. Scribbling one more note for your family, you winnow away.
——
The woods of the Autumn Court were alive with the crackling energy of falling leaves and crisp, golden air. The sun dipped low on the horizon, casting everything in shades of fire, and you stood in the heart of it all, wrapped in a cloak that did little to ease the chill seeping into your bones.
You heard him before you saw him. Footsteps crunching over leaves, his familiar step steady and certain. His copper hair gleamed like flames, his amber eyes locked onto yours with an intensity that nearly brought you to your knees.
He looked tired, but when he saw you, his whole face softened. “Y/N,” he breathed, and it was all the invitation you needed. You crossed the space between you, and his arms were around you, warm and strong, pulling you close like he couldn’t bear to let you go.
“I hate being apart from you,” you whispered, your voice cracking. “I hate all of this. Everyone thinks… everyone thinks you’re manipulating me. That you’re doing this for some sick plot.”
Eris’s hold tightened, and you felt the tension radiating from him. “I know,” he said, his voice rough. “I wouldn’t expect anything less from people who have spent their whole lives seeing the worst in me. But it’s not about them. It never was. It’s about our bond, love. I feel it. Every second we’re apart, it feels like something is tearing me in half.”
You pulled back enough to look into his eyes, searching for the truth. His face was open, vulnerable in a way few ever saw. “Then why haven’t you asked me to come with you?” you asked, a tear slipping down your cheek. “Why do we have to keep doing this?”
Eris cupped your face, his thumb brushing away the tear. “Because I need to make sure it’s safe. Because I want you in Autumn, but I can’t put you in danger until I’m certain no one will use you to get to me.” His voice broke, and for a moment, the strong, confident High Lord you knew crumbled before you. “But I can’t keep doing this either.”
A shudder ran through you, and you pressed your forehead to his. “Then tell me to stay. Tell me to come with you.”
He closed his eyes, breathing you in. “Come with me,” he whispered, his voice full of longing and fear and love. “Please.”
And even though the Night Court had been your home, even though leaving meant facing a court full of enemies and allies who might not welcome you, your heart had already made its choice.
As always Ty for reading XOXO~

Summary: You’re Cassians sister but he hates Eris completely, so how do you chose between them, especially when Eris is your mate
Pairing: Eris x f!reader, Cassian x sister reader, other night court members x reader
•Masterlist•

After finding out Eris Vanserra, the oldest of the Autumn Court royalty, was my mate it was a hard pivot from my usual life, growing up with my brother Cassian was almost like I was blessed by the mother above, he always took care of me and made sure I was always happy, then Azriel and Rhysand came along when we were younger and we became our own little family, they treated me like their own sister and as we grew our family grew bigger, Mor came along and then Amren, it was just us for centuries
But then Rhys was trapped under the mountain and we were locked within the Night Court, no way of trying to save him, it took a toll on all of us but then one day it was like the sky became clear and we could breath again, and it was all thanks to my now sister in law, she saved my brother, saved all of pyrinthian
And just like that we had three new members to our family, even though I couldn’t find it easy to open my heart to Elain and especially Nesta with how she treats my poor knuckle head of a brother Cassian
The house became quickly overwhelming with how big our inner circle grew and it just became too much so I decided to have a get away for a while, I packed a bag and flew off towards the autumn court to a cabin Lucien said I could barrow
~Flashback~
The cabin was lovely, small but cozy, a fire place in the corner as the walls were adorned with fall decor it was very different from how my home is with the typical blues and greys with sparkles and stars, even though it was beautiful and special to me, the autumn court always called to me
I settled in for the night just me myself and I, the quiet soothing over me with the subtle sound of the wind blowing around the cabin rustling the leaves outside, an occasional hoot breaking the silence, it was purely…….bliss
I wake abruptly to the door being opened and a man grunting as the door slams, I peak out the bedroom door to see the man that I’ve always been fascinated by but could never approach because Cassian made it clear his hate for Eris, but I saw past that rough demeanour to what was underneath
In just my rich blue silk night dress I creep out of the room to where he was sprawled out on the couch, getting closer I notice his shape, bloody and bruised and he shudders every time he breathes in
My heart skips a beat seeing him likes this kills me for some reason and I barely know him, I sit next to him his eyes shoot open
“Are you okay?” I gently ask not wanting to startle him more
“What’re you doing here?” His voice calm but tired
“Lucien said I could stay here for a little, I needed some alone time, but that’s not important what happened to you?” He gently smiles before he groans as he tries to sit up
“The usual, made the old man mad cause I tried to protect my mother”
“Oh Eris” I sigh as I brush his silky auburn locks back, I took his hand in mine and channeled my powers not many knew about, my eyes glowing blue like the Velaris stars as I watch his wounds fade away until he’s like brand new even though it drains my energy for a while
“How did you do that?” He asks as he sits up without any pain and it settles my worrying heart
“It’s my gift the mother blessed me with, I couldn’t bare to see you like that” and that’s when I felt it, this snap in my chest like no other that connects me to Eris and I knew that he was the one for me, placing my hand on my chest I look up to see he has the same expression
“I’ve waited centuries for you little star” he smiles that fox like grin that sends a warm shiver down my spine
“My brothers are going to kill me” I laugh a little nervous as he brushes my hair back as he cups my cheek
“We’ll figure this out…..maybe we should just keep this between us while we explore this” I nod feeling undeniable love and joy between our bond
~Present~
It’s been a year since Eris and I became mates and it’s been a rollercoaster of many steamy nights as I snuck out to find him, the lust filled glances at meetings or the gentle touches at court balls, the only down side was having to brush off suspecting questions from my family, I want to tell them so badly they mean everything to me but I can’t bare to have Cassian be disappointed in me
Today was the annual ball that is held here in the Night court where all the high lords and their families come to mingle and just have a good fun time
Feyre and Mor were finishing up doing the final touches on my hair and makeup, as they treated me like a younger sister, I couldn’t stop squirming with excitement, I haven’t seen Eris in a week because of how busy we’ve both been
“What’s got you so happy sunshine?” Mor giggles as she places little gems in my hair
“Nothing just can’t wait to go to the ball”
“Is there maybe someone there waiting for you?” Feyre asks as my cheek rise with heat as I avoid their eyes
“I……I wish I could tell you” they stop what their doing and give me their full attention
“Sweetheart you know we’d never judge you, we’re your sisters we just want you to be happy” Mor said as she came around kneeling infront of me making my lip quiver
“You can’t tell anyone please” they nod
“I’ve found my mate” their eyes explode with shock as they scream and jump around
“How did we not know who is it? When did this happen?”
“It’s been a year tonight actually, it’s our anniversary, we’re swapping gifts at the ball” I smile looking at the box I had laid on the counter, a pair of gold rings, a thick band for him adorned with an engraved star and a silver ring for me with a auburn gem and an engraved fox
“Guess we will have to keep an eye out tonight won’t we mor?” Feyre smiles making Mor squeal again making me laugh along
~
Wearing a black dress with subtle rainbow sparkles all along the dress making me feel like a princess as I enter the ball room alongside Cassian, the others already there, the hall was filled with the families of every court, people laughing and chatting as the orchestra played in the corner with drinks flowing
“You look beautiful sis, please have fun tonight I know how much you’ve been doing to help Rhys plan this”
“I will I promise, now go find Nesta before she punches someone” I say making us both laugh
He gives me a gentle hug before he’s off weaving through the crowds
I glance around the room hoping to find my loving Fox until I felt his presence behind me a cunning whisper in my ear
“Now what’s a beautiful little star like you doing all alone at a ball” I turn with the biggest smile just wanting to throw my arms around him, he takes my hand and lead me off to a corner not many are around as he corners me between the walls so no one else could see me as he towered over making my knees weak, the scent of crisp leaves and musk over taking my senses
“I’ve missed you so much Eris” I whisper looking up at him, my hand against his chest
“Not as much as I’ve missed you my love, missed your scent…..your taste” he smirks
“Eris stop not here” I giggle
“Happy anniversary, my gift for you is back in the autumn court, I couldn’t really bring it here but I’ll show you tonight okay?” His hand squeezes my waist reassuringly
“Can’t wait, here’s yours, if it’s not your style I can exchange it” I say nervously as I hand him the box, he smiles as he opens it feeling a thrum of love through the bond
“Oh Angel it’s perfect” he takes mine out and gently slips it over my ring finger I then take his ring and do the same to him
“I love you y/n”
“I love you too Eris, always”
“Y/n what the hell is going on here?” I jump looking behind Eris to see my whole family standing there, Cassian looking about ready to rip Eris apart, looking to the others Rhys and Azriel looked unsurprised, nor and Feyre smiling, amren was unbothered as usual
“Umm…..I……we were just…..” it’s like my brain was malfunctioning
“Tell him sweetie” Mor smiles
I look back up at Eris who took my hand his warmth easing my racing thoughts
“Well?” Cassian asks unsettled
“Eris…….hes my mate”
The rage I could see immediately fill my brother scared me, he hates me now
“Cassian please don’t be made I know you don’t like him but he loves me he would never hurt me” I say quickly
“I love her, she the only thing that matters to me” Eris chimes in his hand going to my lower back to pull me close
“How could you, how long has this been going on?”
“Come on Cass go easy on her” Rhysand steps in
“Go easy, she’s with the man that tormented Mor, he’s pure evil”
My lip quivers feeling that weight in my chest again
“Cas I was with you every time Nesta hurt you, I supported you always even though she hurt me so many times, why can’t you just give him a chance” Eris holds me even tighter wiping my tears away
“I don’t even know who you are” I grunts as he storms off Azriel and Rhys quick to my side
“I’m sorry brothers I couldn’t help it I love him please don’t be mad at me too” I cry pleadingly not being able to lose them too
“Oh my heart we could never, we knew for a while we just wanted to wait till you were ready, we just want to you be happy and if that’s with Eris here then we can get use to it” Rhys says rubbing my arm as Azriels precious shadows swirled around my body like little puppies
“But Cassian hates me now” I cry again as Eris pulls me into his chest feeling his worry through the bond
“We’ll talk to him…..maybe you should clear you head and take some time away” Azriel says giving Eris a look
“Come on let’s go home my love” too upset to fly he winnows us back to the cabin we first found out we were mates
I sigh slumping down on the couch
“Still want you present Angel?” I perk up completely forget I nod as he goes into the bedroom and out runs a puppy Doberman with a pink bow around its neck, it hops on my lap licking all over my face
“Mother above she’s the cutest in the world! You got her for me?” I smile petting her as it calmed me
“I know you love them and thought it would be good practice”
“About that……I have another surprise for you”
“And what that?” He smiles kneeling infront of us as he plays with the puppy I’ve decided to name clover
“I’m pregnant” he stops looking up at me
“Are you serious! We’re having a baby?” I nod as he pulls me into a hug placing kisses all over my face
“When did you find out?”
“Yesterday, madja did some tests, she said I’m 2 months along” he places a warm hand against my belly
“Let’s get you out this dress and into bed, it’s been a crazy night” he states as we walk to the bedroom Clover jump around at our feet
He unzips my dress letting it fall to the floor, gently undoing my hair and helping me into one of him over night shirts, he got ready and we both laid in bed facing eachother with clover curled up against my belly
“He’ll come around you know, he loves you too much”
“Oh what would I do without you” I laugh running my fingers through his hair
My wings fluttering at the love he sends me
“Get sleep, we’ll figure this out in the morning, in one night our family grew by two” soon I was fast asleep”
~
I wake from a smash coming from the front door frantic footsteps coming straight to the room, I barely had time to react before one of Eris’s brothers burst in dragging me front bed which woke Eris, jumping out of bed clover quivering, Kayden holding my arms behind my back with a sword to my throat
“What the hell do you think you’re doing Kyden” Eris growls his hands glowing with fire
“Father heard your little show last night, he was seething to say the least, really Eris mating with a dirty night court member? Either way father sent me to send you a message just like our dear naive brother Lucien” in one swift motion he raises his sword and with all his strength slash’s down and the pain that rips through my body is too strong I couldn’t even make a noise as I fall too the ground shaking in pain
Clover coming over whining as she paws at my face like she was trying to keep me awake, a ball of fire shoots through the air as Eris screams hearing Kyden retreat
Eris falls to his knees infront of my cradling me trying not to touch my seared open wounds where my wings once remained………my wings the ones I loved dearly, the memories I had with them as I flew with my brothers…..now gone
“Oh my little star hang on okay don’t fall asleep” in a shadow of mist I know he’s winnowing us somewhere but I can barely think the pain all consuming the only thing anchoring me is Clover in my arms and the warmth of Eris and the blood dripping down my back
“Eris” I whisper as the world becomes blotchy
“RHYSAND HELP ME” he screams out, the smell of my home surrounding me, the lavender and mist jolting me
I see Cassian, Nesta, Azriel and Mor come running up behind Eris, then hearing Rhys and Feyre behind me, frantic scared voices coming from all around me, screams or terror, cries for the healers
Cassian takes my face in his hands as I’m laid on my side of some bed but I couldn’t focus, like I was watching everything from outside my body
“You better not leave me, I can’t lose you my sparkle, you’re my little sis, you hold on” I hear clover whine again as she comes and curls up under my chin resting her head against the side of my neck protectively
“I……I’m sorry” I sigh as the world finally goes black”
~Eris POV~
Watching her in pain, feeling her pain feels like I’m being punished by the mother above, seeing her bleed out and lose all color, seeing her wings lay limp against the floor then the screams of her family
I sit next to her as she heals, it’s been a week and I can’t do a thing but watch her, pray that her chest will rise again after ever breath she takes, hope to the mother that this baby is still there and that she’ll wake and not hate me for what my bastard brother did
Cassian has sat on the chair on the other side of the bed, as white as a ghost
“You know she wanted to tell you, I saw the way it bothered her not telling you, she always said “my brother gonna kill me” but then she’d giggle that beautiful laugh and tell me a story where you made her feel special, she loves you”
He sighs resting his head against her hand
“I should’ve been happy for her, I shouldn’t have gotten mad and walked out she wouldn’t…..she didn’t do that to me and what if she doesn’t wake up and I’ll never be able to tell her that”
“Don’t talk like that, she’ll wake up she has to” I almost cry again for the hundredth time resting my hand against her lower belly beside clovers head, she hasn’t left her side except to eat I think she could sense it, I could feel the bond she’s already made with my mate
“No…….shes pregnant?” Cassian asks looking down to where my hand rests, I nod
“She told me the night of the ball, part of her anniversary present to me, mine was clover for her, I thought……I thought everything was finally perfect, I always wanted a child with her and she was so happy, she’s gonna hate me now for what my brother did to her”
“I don’t think she’d hate anyone, she definitely wouldn’t hate you this past year she’s been a beam of star light, always happy and I guess if that because of you I can’t be mad that you’re her mate” Cassian says giving me a reassuring nod
Madja comes in to check on her using her magic
“How’s she doing?” I ask as I pet clover
“She’s healing well, her back has no signs of infection and the babies are growing at their normal rate, luckily you got here in time before she lost too much blood” my heart skips a beat
“Babies? As in more than one?” Cassian asks just as surprised as me
“Yes dear you’re having twins, congrats” she smiled before leaving
~Normal POV~
Gentle voices around me slowly come into focus as I open my eyes as I feel a burning ache along my back, the memories of that night, Kyden taking me, taking my wings who am I without my wings……please mother above let my baby be okay
“Eris….” I whimper as I try to sit up seeing him and Cassian at my sides, my little clover on my lap
He shoots up from his spot coming up to to caress my cheek feeling the warmth I love
“Oh my little star, how’re you feeling can I get you anything?” I could feel his fear through the bond and all I could do was look at him
“I’m sorry……I should’ve locked the door or we should’ve stayed in the night court and now I’m hideous…..my wings….” I cry finally feeling everything
“Oh my love don’t ever say that, none of this is your fault, Kyden will pay for hurting you and you’re still by beautiful mate I’ll be with you every second to heal from this, you’re gonna be a strong mother”
“She’s still okay?” I ask feeling clover place her head over my belly
“Both of them actually….theyre healthy”
“Twins? Oh wow I can’t believe this”
“You’ll be okay sis, I’m sorry I reacted like that but I’ll never make you feel like that again” Cassian sighs placing a kiss to my hand
“I understand, it’s not your fault I’m just happy you’re still here with me” I smile weakly as Eris keeps kissing my face
“You know you scared me, I never wanna see you like that again, feeling our bond weaken was the worst pain” Eris groaned as clover came up to nudge him away
“Everything’s okay now! We can all be a family now right?” I look between them
“Always”
“Always”
~
Healing was hard, having to walk again without the weight of my wings, Azriel helped me a lot when Cassian was busy, he let me play with his shadows when I felt discouraged and I’d tumble over
Rhys made sure I always had everything I wanted even if I didn’t know I needed it, bringing me all the food cravings I wanted, Feyre leaving me my favourite flowers, Mor gifting me with new clothes now that I didn’t have wings and had a baby belly, Clover stayed at my side every moment and she grew at light speed already to my hip, letting my lean against her as I walked, Elain and Nesta still didn’t bother with me which still hurt, and my dear Eris treating me like a speck of a diamond like if break at any moment but I couldn’t blame him, always rubbing my belly, braiding my hair when it got annoying, holding me extra close every night
I’m due any day now and I’m nervous to say the least, I just want to be a good mom and I know how worried Eris is too, scared he’ll become like his father
I wobble my way into the bedroom and change into my night gown, clover helping bump me up onto the bed before she jumps up after me, like always here head lay on my lamp, her puppy eyes looking up at me
“You excited to meet a mini me and Eris?” I giggle when she huffs and rubs her snout against my belly
“If it isn’t my two favorite girls already waiting for me” Eris chimes as he enters the room hoping into bed with us, his strong arms wrapping around me as he pulls me into a passionate kiss taking my breath away
“I missed you my love”
“I missed you more, these babies are little rascals they keep fighting”
“Definitely mine” he laughs as I lay my head on his chest
“Oh I forgot to tell you, Azriel brought me something today, might be strange but he thought it would give you closure” he got out of bed going into the hallway and bringing in a huge shadow box
“Well turn it around don’t leave me in suspense!” He bites his lip before turning it I gasp
Within the shadow box is my wings spread out and framed beautifully, the background black with rainbow sparkles, the wings must be enchanted to stay preserved, walking up to it I lay my hand against the glass
“I want them back Eris” I cry as he settles them down by the wall
“I know my love and if I could I’d do anything to give them back” he says pulling me into a hug
“Come on let’s get you to bed”
“You go on I’m gonna go tell Azriel thanks, I’m be back in a second okay?” He nods giving me one last kiss
Walking down the hall until I get to his room where the shadows come out from under the door curling around my feet and tickling
“Come in” he calls before I even knock
I walk in and go straight to him on the bed where’s he’s sat reading
“I wanted to say thank you for the gift, I really love it to still see them, I miss it though, flying around and feeling the wind in my hair”
“Once you have my darling niece and nephew I’ll take you, I promise” I smile and squeeze his hand until I feel a huge pressure release and then the bed is wet
“Oh gosh Azriel I’m so sorry” he jumps up and scoops me in his arms
“Angel you’re having your babies I think my bed can handle it” he walks back past my room calling for Eris and he was quick on our tail along with Clover following to madja
~
After hours of contractions it was time, screaming I push feeling like I was being shredded until I hear that little cry
“She’s beautiful, she has wings my love” Eris cries as he wipes my head with a cool cloth the rest of the family sat around the room watching anxiously Cassian now holding my little girl in a blanket
“Oh it’s happening again” I whine feeling the push again
“Come on you’re almost there” and finally the pain, the pressure was gone and my babies were here
Eris holds my baby boy up to me, his little wisp of curly ginger hair, his skin adorned with freckles, his eyes a deep auburn
Cassian holding my girl for me, little deep grey wings with a hue of purple, her hair chocolate brown and lilac eyes, I take them both in my arms as the others come around to marvel and my babies
“They’re beautiful” I smile as Eris sits next to me holding me to his chest
“You did amazing my little star, the mother has truly blessed me”
“Her wings…….theyre just like mine” I feel a part of me heal at that knowing she’ll be free like I was and knowing my boy will be strong like his father
“What’re you gonna name them?” Feyres asks
“We’re thinking she’ll be Cassi for my dear brother and he’ll be Aris a mix between Eris and Azriel” they smile as I feel Azriels shadows at my hands
“Don’t worry Rhysand next time I’ll include you” I say making him laugh
“Don’t worry, I’m proud of you Angel, we all are”
“Our little family just got a bit bigger”

The Fox and the Hound
Eris Vanserra X Reader
Summary: Your relationship with Eris through the years, seen through the life of the hound he gifted you when you first began courting.
Warnings: A mix of fluff and angst. Mentions of sex. Mentions of violence/threats. Mentions of injury. Death of pet but a sweet ending.
The First meeting.
There was something sweet about your first meeting. Perhaps it was the shyness that radiated from the two of you, the soft blush which dusted across your cheeks and the way Eris clenched his sweaty palms into fists in an attempt to hide his anxiety.
The two you, whist grown adults, held the charm of two children with an innocent crush. You sat across from each other, curious eyes meeting curious eyes as your fathers discussed the terms of the betrothal. Anticipation sparking in each of your chests at the possibility that this arrangement may not be as terrible as you had first expected.
It took hours.
Hour after hour of dull, monotonous discussion. Each father trying their best to squeeze every ounce of benefit that they could from this deal. It was an arduous process. One that both you and Eris shared no interest in. Deaf to the conversation happening around you, eyes never leaving the others.
Your own wordless conversation flowing naturally, an automatic understanding settling between the two. Almost as if you were both speaking your own language, one known only by the pair of you. A level of synchronicity between you as you exchanged greetings and compliments through the glistening of your eager eyes and the soft smirks which formed upon your tender lips.
Eris needn't say a word to convey the message he was trying to send. It was an invitation. A plea for the two of you to escape the draining presence of your fathers. A subtle suggestion to leave the room so he could hear the sweet tones of your voice for the first time.
Whether or not your fathers noted the rushed manner of the way you stood, excusing yourselves from the rest of the meeting, they did not let on. The two alpha males still locked in a daring battle, both seeking more and more from the other. It made it all too easy for you and Eris to slip from the room unnoticed.
Giggling alongside each other as you fled from the scene. The Autumn Prince flashed you a charming smile as he held out an arm for you to take. Enabling him to lead you alongside him until you had exited the Forest House. The male leading you towards an outbuilding, the building from which a cacophony of barks and growls sounded from.
"This isn't where you tell me that I'm not actually a bride. That this whole agreement was just so you could have some poor innocent damsel to feed to your dogs?"
Eris smiled at your joke, at the way you had failed to hide the anxiety which laced your voice. He continued to lead you towards the kennels, bringing his free hand to comfortingly rest against yours which was wrapped around his bicep.
"They're hounds," he corrected, a cocky smirk finding its home on his handsome face, "And I wouldn't dare feed them someone as pretty as you. It would be such a waste of beauty."
It was impossible to hide the deep red blush which flourished on your cheeks, eyes nervously attempting to avoid the intensity of his admiring gaze.
Trying to quell the rising heat in your face, you battled your flushed embarrassment with another joke, "Isn't it how a boy wastes his time? Playing with dogs...hounds?"
The two of you slowed your approach as you rounded on the solid oak doors. The heavy metal lock rattling with the force of the dogs pounding against the other side of the doors.
"I can assure you, my future bride, that my hounds are bred for far greater things than simply playing," he notes your fearful gulp as you flinch at a particular violent bang to the door, "And I can also tell you that my hounds are the finest in all of Prythian. You needn't worry, they wont hurt you. Not whilst I'm here."
You weren't sure whether it was the sincerity of his words or the confidence that welled in his amber eyes but you believed him. Finding yourself relaxing as he dropped your arm in order to unlock the door, satisfied that Eris would not allow any harm to befall you.
He twisted the key in the lock, dropping the heavy padlock and chains to the floor as he cast his gaze back to you, seeking some form of approval to reassure him that you were fine with this, allowing you to know that he would never force you into a situation that you didn’t want to be in.
Heart feeling full due to his compassion and thoughtfulness, you willed yourself to nod confidently. Determined that if Eris were to be your future husband and caring for his hounds were his passion, you would learn to love them in the same way the male did.
With a firm pull of the handle the door opened, hound after hound pouring out from the open doors. Each giddy pup jumping up to excitedly greet their master before a few brave ones curiously made their way over to you. Big noses snuffling at your feet, neglecting to jump at you in the way they did their master, no doubt sensing the remaining traces of fear which you had failed to flush from your system.
Opting to take the leap yourself, noting how Eris's searching eyes were observing the situation, whether to make sure his hounds didn't try anything or he was simply curious as to how you would react, you sunk to your knees on the ground in order to stroke the hounds which circled you.
A joyous laugh escaping from your lips as they saw your action as an invitation to huddle around you, overwhelming you with gentle licks and playful nibbles.
If only your father could see you now - you thought. Your pristine dress filthened by the damp ground you were knelt on, hands and arms covered in the slimy sheen of their saliva as they eagerly laid affectionate licks wherever they could.
Pleased, Eris contentedly watched the scene from where he was stood. Admiring the outpouring of love his usually reserved hounds were showing you. His heart told him that this was a sign from the mother, your already flourishing bond with his pups was surely an indication that the two of you were meant to be.
Only when their excitement of meeting a new person decreased, and the hounds had begun to wander off, inquisitive noses buried in the ground as they followed the trails of scents which interested them, did Eris then approach you.
Holding out a strong hand so he could help you up from where you were collapsed on the ground, the pups having knocked you onto your bottom from their enthusiasm.
"I'd say that went well" he mused, his amber gaze raking your body as he took in the little tears and muddied stains from your time on the ground, "You may need another dress though. Not to worry, I'll make sure you have plenty of those as my wife."
Thrilled with the child-like excitement that being surrounded by his dogs had brought you, you exclaimed, "Oh Eris they're amazing. Can we come here every day?"
"Every hour if that is what you wished," he smiled. Eris nodded his head towards the open kennels, beginning to drag you towards the building, "Come on there's something I want to show you."
The two of you made your way into the empty kennels, your curious eyes taking in your surroundings as you wonder what it is exactly that Eris wanted to show you. The answer becoming clear as he pulled you to a stop at a large doghouse, bending down to peer inside. "Here" he whispered quietly, gesturing you to drop down to the same level.
You bent down next to him, squinting through the opening of the house, trying to make out the figures which wriggled in the darkness. Before your eyes could even focus, one of said figures bounded out from where it was hidden and flopped into your lap.
You cast your gaze downwards, eyes blowing wide with awe at the sight of the small puppy which was digging into your lap in an attempt to seek some warmth.
A cry broke from your lips, a sound of appreciation, lip pouting as you brushed a gentle finger along it's tiny head. Eyes beginning to water at the sheer cuteness of the creature before you.
"You like her?" Eris asked, his own hand coming to lovingly rub at the scruffy patch of fur on the pup's head.
"Like her? I love her! Eris she's so sweet!"
"Good" he grinned, "Because she's yours. Consider it a betrothal gift."
You couldn't contain the squeal of happiness which broke from your lips, surprised eyes flashing to the male who was sat looking at you and the pup with unbridled joy.
"For me?" you asked in disbelief, of all the gifts you had ever received this by far had to be the best one.
"Well only if you want her. And she'll need training and walks. I'm not sure if you'd want her for hunting but I'm sure she'd be happy to keep you company whenever I'm gone. And she'll need a name of course."
"Darling" you answer immediately, there was no doubt in your heart that that was her name. For that was what she was, her little face, her small paws, her reddish coat. Every inch of her was darling.
"Darling is perfect" Eris agrees, his hand which had been brushing the pups head coming to hold your hand sweetly. This would be the first of what would be many affectionate touches in your relationship to come.
The night time cuddles - And a very jealous Eris.
It wasn't unusual for Eris to sneak into your bedroom to see you. Whilst you were betrothed, the rules of courting did not permit the two of you to be left unchaperoned in a room. Your father had made this point clear to you after discovering you alone with the Autumn prince in the kennels after he had gifted you Darling.
But Eris wasn't one to follow the rules.
He was constantly finding excuses as to why he urgently had to see you in your room. You left a hairpin at the breakfast table. You had forgotten to give him a review of the latest book you had finished. It slipped his mind earlier, when the two of you were sharing a supervised walk in the gardens of the Forest House, just how beautiful Eris thought you were in the new dress he had bought you.
Yet this, Eris appearing at your door, when the sun had already set and the moon was far into its nightly journey, was unusual.
Being caught alone together during the day was one thing - but at night? You shuddered at the thought of the punishment your father would deliver.
"Eris, what are you doing?" You hissed in a low whisper as the male pulled the door to after him.
"I haven't seen you today," he reasoned, hand coming to rest against your cheek as he absorbed the natural beauty of your tired features, "I'm sorry I was caught in meetings most of the day but I just had to see you before I went to bed."
That inescapable blush which appeared whenever you were around the Autumn prince burned your cheeks, a pleased smile making its way onto your lips at the thought of the male being unable to make it one day without your presence.
A stubborn nudge to his leg and an angry yelp had Eris removing his hand so he could bend down and greet a disgruntled Darling, "Yes, yes. I haven't forgotten about you sweetheart. Been behaving well for your mother?"
"Well I was sure it was the end for her today when she bit your brother when he came in for breakfast."
"Damnit" Eris smirked, his evil eyes flashing to your amused ones, "Why do I always miss the good things?"
"Hmm," you hummed in thought, "he seemed fairly convinced that you had been training her to do so."
If possible, his smirk grew even wider, "I have no idea what you mean."
You rolled your eyes at your future husband, retreating to your bed as you yawned at the lateness of the hour at which he had arrived.
"You can't be tired yet!" He argued, words filled with exasperation as Darling ran after you to chase you to the bed where you had laid down, "I just got here!"
"It's not my fault it's so late!" you fought back, gesturing to the window where the moon was high in the sky, "You could...I mean you'd have to be gone by morning of course…But if you wanted to?"
Your eyes flicker to the empty spot on the bed next you you before flashing back to Eris's. Hope flooding your pupils.
"I mean, I can't deny my future wife can I? I've heard terrifying stories about men who said no to their wives."
He obediently crawled onto the other half of your bed as he spoke. Making his way up the mattress until he was level with you.
"Perhaps..." he started, his lips dangerously close to yours, "Perhaps I can finally allow myself to feel the soft touch of your lips," his eyes flicker down to your body, "or feel the soothing heat from your bare skin. Maybe if I’m lucky I could hear your desperate cries as I make you call my name, over and over again."
Your breath caught in your throat, eager eyes boring into Eris's amber ones which were burning with lust. Releasing a shaky breath you cast them to his red lips, eyes beginning to close as you lean in.
Until the forceful shove of Darling tore the two of you apart. The small hound wriggling her way in-between the two of you, tail wagging ferociously with her desire for attention.
You laugh sweetly, hand coming to rub her ears as she happily burrowed against your body. Eris on the other hand, allowed his brows to knit together in a deep frown, his once puckered lips downturned at the sight before him.
"Sorry Eris," you giggled at his disappointment, "You are in Darling's spot and she had been in my bed many more times than you have."
His brows furrowed deeper, lips moving into a pout, "But she's had you all day! It's not fair!"
"I'm sorry dear," you shrugged, allowing your pup to dictate exactly what happens in your room, "Darling has spoken. It's ok, she gives great cuddles, I'm sure you'll sleep soundly."
Your words did nothing to improve the Prince's mood. In fact, the reminder that your pup had spent more hours nestled against you in a warming embrace than he has only made him more miserable.
"Maybe next time" you grinned, loving eyes focused on the now sleeping form of Darling.
“Don’t worry. I’m sure you give better cuddles my Prince.”
The wedding.
You met in private. The two of you making your way to the old oak tree hidden in the security of the Autumn Court's forest. Lucien had joined you at Eris's request, the male trailing after you, a doting Darling close at his heels.
You had come to make your vows in your own terms. Neither you nor Eris wanting to share this moment with the thousands of uncaring guests Beron had invited to your wedding. Strangers who knew nothing about how deeply yours and Eris’s affection ran.
No, you wanted to exchange them in the privacy of each other's company, his brother joining as your witness. An eager Darling not wanting to miss out on the excitement.
So here you were, dressed in a simple white dress. Standing hand in hand with the male you had grown to love, covered by the shade of the oak tree.
"Well I can't say I've ever married someone before," Lucien stated as he scratched his red hair in thought, "I guess you just...say your vows?"
Eris rolled his eyes at his clueless brother, "You'd think when we asked you to do this you would have consulted a book brother or even a prince. Don’t you have plenty of them in the spring court?"
Knowing that the two males could spit retorts to each other for days on end, you made the easy decision of choosing to speak your vows first, "Alright. You guys can stop, I'll go first!"
You took a deep breath, gathering your thoughts, worried that words could never do justice to the way you felt about Eris.
"Eris, I think I have loved you from the moment I met you. It wasn't hard, you make it so easy to be loved. You are not only the kindest male I have ever met, but the most thoughtful. Your compassion and the love you hold for everyone, and every thing, in your court is inspiring. And I am the luckiest woman alive to be blessed with your presence and the honour that I can soon call myself your wife. I have loved you since I first laid eyes on you and I promise that I will continue to do so until we're nothing but the ash remaining from the inferno that is our love."
Tears sparkled in Eris's eyes, his grip on your hands increasing in an attempt to ground himself. Even Lucien bore a soft grin at the sight before him, at the happiness that his brother had found for himself in you.
"And I, Little fox," Eris started, his voice cracking as he spoke, "I never thought I'd be lucky enough to deserve a life like this. I've always assumed I was just like my father and was resigned to a life just as miserable as his. But being here, being with you, I know I can allow myself to feel as though I've earned this. Earnt your love. And I will spend the rest of my days proving to you just how devoted I am, just how much I was made for you as you were made for me. You are my other half. My beginning and my end. And I love you."
You choked back a gleeful sob, your own eyes glistening with tears as the two of you looked to Lucien expenctantly.
"What?...Oh! Oh right. You, uh, you many kiss the bride."
And Eris did just that. Connecting his lips with yours. His shuddering breath meeting your lips as he sealed his against yours. Moving them against each other in a passionate dance, arms flying around each other's body in search of some support. The two of you getting lost in the moment, losing yourselves in the heat of your embrace, acting as though it was just the two of you, locked in this scene for an eternity.
Until there was a rude awakening in the form of Darling leaping up at you. Her muddy paws leaving streaks of dirt down your pure white fabric of your dress. Reluctantly pulling away from Eris, you bobbed down to give her a loving stroke, pleased that she got to share in the moment with you. She was a part of your family after all.
Lucien, red-faced and blushing, broke the silence, "I guess I'm looking after her tonight then?"
"Yes!" You and Eris eagerly replied in glee.
The intruder
It was late. The world was sleeping along with the sun. Eris was away, visiting another court. Which led you to where you were now, sound asleep in your joint chambers, Darling cuddled up against your body. The two of you breathing deeply as you dreamed.
Yet not everyone was asleep. Night was the time for criminals and wrongdoers to crawl out from the depths. Sinister people who chose to act under the cover of darkness, skillfully hiding between the shadows which blanketed the court.
And tonight they had come for you. Of course choosing the one night that Eris wasn't here to protect you.
It was the rattle of your door handle which stirred Darling from her slumber. The hound curiously jumping off the bed and padding to the door, hoping that her other master had returned from his travels.
Only she didn't scent the usual crackling fire or roasting chestnuts. Instead a putrid smell of soured milk and fermented fish wafted to her nose.
Her fur stood on end. Baring her teeth as she released a low growl, the sound being enough to draw you from your dreams. Sitting up in bed and noticing the precarious way Darling was stood at your door.
"Darls?" You questioned, your worlds slurred through the thick coat of sleep which was still wrapped around you, "Come back to bed girl."
She didn't move. Muscles still tense as she stared at the door which you had only just noticed was banging softly. If Darling wasn't so on edge you would have passed it off as wind. Though the dogs anxious demeanour and the lack of a howling gale blowing against your windows had your body filling with dread.
The doors burst open, clattering against the walls from the force at which they did so. A dark figure entered, crazed eyes locked on your shaking form as they advanced.
You froze, unsure of what to do. Cursing yourself for never taking up Eris’s offer on learning how to fight, for being so sure that the need for that skill would never arise and that if it did Eris would be there to protect you.
But Eris wasn’t here. And as you stared into the cold, unforgiving eyes of your intruder fear flooded your system. Thoughts swimming around your mind at the possibility that these could be your last moments. That you’d never see your husband again. That he’d come home from his trip and find your mangled body sprawled across the bed.
Your panic increasing, you shook yourself awake, needing to be prepared to put up a fight. Jumping out of the sheets as quickly as possible so you could stand and draw your hands into shaky fists.
Ready to act.
But you needn’t do so. For as the man crossed the threshold Darling was already on him.
Her sharp teeth finding their home in the flesh of his arm. Rabid growls leaving her mouth as she tugged and thrashed at the limb trapped between her teeth. Blood poured from the man’s arm, screams of pain escaping from his throat. Legs pathetically flailing as he tried to kick her from him.
It didn’t take long at all for Darling to wrestle him to the ground. The whites of her eyes bulging in a way you had never seen, your dog never before having the need to show this amount of aggression to anyone.
She continued to ravage the man, tearing at his arm as he continued his attempts to bat her away.
Anger coursed through your body at the sight of the kicks and punches he was delivering to your dog. Your baby. And so you make to run forwards, to aid Darling with what little strength you had.
Yet once more you were saved by another.
Eris burst into the room, sword in hand. You were too stunned by his sudden appearance to try and make sense of how he was here, how he could have possibly known what was happening.
Upon his arrival, Eris was swift to finish the job. A still feral Darling coming to stand in front of you protectively. Blocking your view of the scene before you, hiding the figure of Eris stabbing his sword through the man’s gut.
When the deed was done, Eris made to come towards you, wanting nothing more than to rush to your side in order to make sure you were ok.
But Darling wouldn’t allow it.
Baring her blood-stained teeth at her master. Snarling as he tried to lay a calming hand on her. Refusing to let your husband come anywhere near you.
“It’s ok Darling” you soothed, stroking along her back, bringing her back to reality, allowing the cloud of fear to clear from her eyes as she saw who was before her. Inhaling his familiar sent. It was her family.
“It’s over Darling” you whispered into her ear as you pulled her into a hug, “my brave, brave girl. You did so well.”
The baby
“Oh Eris, let her in. She’s scratching at the door!”
It had been a long labour. The efforts of which had drained a lot of energy from you, leaving you exhausted, pale and sweaty.
But it was worth it. Every minute of pain. You would do it again in a heartbeat if it meant getting to hold the little bundle of joy which was currently held against your chest.
A little baby girl.
A beautiful daughter who already had a small little head of red hair to match her father’s. Her little fingers clinging onto your body as you cradled her.
Your husband, eyes full of love sat at the edge of the bed, admiring the beauty of the moment. His tiny, healthy baby. His magnificent, strong wife.
Yet to you, one thing was missing from the picture.
Your poor little hound had been kicked out of the room by Eris at the first signs of your labour. Your husband claiming you didn’t need any distractions, that Darling would get in the way.
But you could see it. The underlying glint of anxiety in his eyes, the already fierce desire had had to protect his newborn daughter. Worried of what could happen if he let an excitable Darling into the room, what havoc she would cause.
He didn’t mean to think that way, you knew Eris loved Darling dearly. But you also knew that this was a big change for Eris.
That he wanted to be a good father. That he wanted to be different from his own.
With the distraction your labour brought, where Darling was or what she was doing didn’t cross your mind. But now all you could hear was her incessant scratching and whining at your door and you wanted nothing more than for your pup to meet the new member of your family.
“Please Eris” you begged, a tired hand stretching across the bed in an attempt to reach your husband’s, “Let her in.”
The male sighed, rising from where he was sat. He placed a gentle kiss against your forehead before making his way to the door. Only opening it slightly before he caught Darling as she ran inside, sweeping her into his strong arms.
It was a sight to behold, your giant, wriggling hound in Eris’s sturdy grip. Darling had been much too big for you to pick up for years now, and Eris definitely looked as though he was struggling to do so now as well.
He perched back onto the end of the bed, arms tight around Darling, his stern voice berating her, “No Darling! Calm down, gently now. Gently.”
You smiled, a warming wide smile. Your heartstrings twinging at the sight. Everybody you loved was here, sat together on your bed.
Darling managed to wriggle her way out of Eris’s grip, the male cursing as she did so. Her spritely form running up the bed until she came to rest against you. Slowly laying her head against your stomach as her wide eyes took in the child against your breast.
“This is Eva, Darling” you smiled, introducing the hound to your baby.
She didn’t jump. Didn’t push her sniffling nose as close to the babe as she could. Instead Darling just laid in silent contentment, her curious eyes never leaving your daughter for a minute. She needn’t have the ability to speak for you to know what your pup was thinking, to know that in this very moment her heart had grown two times as big.
To know that she had just met her new best friend.
The terrible two’s
“Oh cauldron, Eva get back here!” You chased after your daughter, her little feet carrying her through the halls at a pace you didn’t expect a two year-old would have.
“Eva!”
Whilst running may appear to be her speciality listening was not.
As much as you loved your daughter, there were some days where you just felt utterly exhausted. Unable to keep up with her energetic soul and curious demeanour.
Spending more of your time chasing after her than anything else.
Yet thankfully, even on days like these where Eris was stuck in meeting after meeting, you always had help.
Your little Darling was never far behind Eva. The hound glued to her side wherever you went. You thought Eris was an overprotective brute, but Darling coddled her as if she was her own.
Eva never went anywhere without Darling, and Darling never went anywhere without Eva.
The hound ran down the corridor after the giggling toddler. Her head nudging Eva back up whenever she stumbled or fell, allowing the girl to grip uncomfortably tight onto her fur for support. Nose lightly pushing your daughter to the side whenever she was about to run into someone in the hallway.
Darling may not have been raised to hunt like all of Eris’s other hounds, but clearly her expertise lay in raising children. Her heightened instincts which would have allowed her to easily track prey, were what enabled her to keep up with the toddler so well.
Eris liked to joke that if Eva spent any more time around the dog she’d begin to act like one. That her increasingly mischievous personality was unbecoming of an Autumn Court Princess. You liked to joke that Eva acted just as wild as her father did.
You were panting by the time you caught up to the pair, a slight sheen of sweat across your forehead as you scooped your squealing daughter into your arms. Darling jumping up and barking along, wanting to join in on the fun.
“Come on girlies” you beamed, continuing to walk towards your destination, “let’s go find Daddy.”
Eva happily babbled away at the sound of his name, bouncing in your arms as you made your way towards Eris’s office, hoping to catch him having a break in-between meetings.
You tap at his door, pressing your ear against the wood in order to better hear. “Come in” his tired voice rings out.
Opening the door, Darling bounds into the room, leaping into your husband’s lap, a smile forcing its way onto his face at the action, hands absentmindedly scratching behind the hound’s ears.
He must have noticed the slightly disheveled state you’re in, taking in your appearance before letting out a teasing snort, “tough day Little Fox? You can go and sit in my next meeting and I’ll look after our girls if you prefer.”
“I think I’ve got the better end of the stick here my love.”
The man huffed in disappointment, though his mood lightened slightly when you passed a giggling Eva into his arms, resting her butt on Darling’s body as he bounced her up and down as he cooed.
“You can take her into the meeting with you if you wish. I’m sure your father wouldn’t mind his Granddaughter running around, maybe if she tires him out as much as she has me it’ll be a short meeting.”
“She’s really run you ragged huh?” Eris asks, he attempts to keep his words light and hearty but you noticed the flicker of concern which flashed in his eyes.
“Not just her” you reasoned, “And not just the fact that I had to chase after Darling in the woods this morning because she saw a squirrel. It’s actually…ah-”
Your sentence was interrupted by a knock at the door. Eris’s brother stepping inside his office without needing to hear any acknowledgement of his knock. His full eyes looked to you before boredly travelling to his brother, “Your late Eris. Father won’t wait much longer.”
Your husband nodded at his brother, dismissing him as he stood from his chair with a sigh, Darling jumping off of his lap. “What was it you had to say Little Fox?” He asked whilst passing Eva to you.
“Nothing, nothing don’t worry,” you brushed him off, knowing that what you had to tell your husband required more time, “I’ll tell you tonight.”
It was a torturously long wait. His meetings having run on for more than half the day. Night had fallen, and Eva had curled up to sleep alongside Darling, the two snoring softly. Yet your anxiety didn’t allow you to sleep, not until Eris came back.
Once he did arrive, he bore dark circles under his eyes and his posture was slouched, you almost thought about waiting another day before telling him the news.
But then you saw the way his eyes lit up when he cast his gaze upon his daughter and your dog. The never ending love which poured from his eyes made it too difficult to resist. You didn’t even say hello to the man before you blurted out, “I’m pregnant Eris!”
He turned to you, tiredness slipping from his eyes as a combination of shock and joy flooded into them, “yeah?”
“Yes!” You cried, unable to stop the tears which leaked from your eyes, throwing yourself into your husband’s tender embrace, “we’re having another child.”
He cheered in glee, picking up your body in glee and spinning you around, yelps leaving both your lips as you slapped his chest and cursed him, “Shhhh, you’re going to wake her! It took long enough to get her to sleep!”
The two of you looked over to where your sleeping daughter was laid, smile adorning both your faces as you saw a cheerful Darling looking right back at you. Her gentle head resting on Eva’s stomach as her tail batted happily back and forth.
Almost as if she knew the news which you had shared between you. As if she knew what was coming next. Who was coming next.
The goodbye
An unfortunate circumstance. That’s what the doctor called it. It was her time to go.
Eris had called him to your chambers immediately, the second Darling had slumped in exhaustion and refused to wake back up.
She was old. That was true. But there was something about her that had you convinced she would live forever. She had always been here, for as long as you had been in Autumn, and now you would have to try and live on without her.
You were in a state. Not even the comfort of your two beautiful children could quell the grief which had found its home inside of you.
Their presence, while appreciated, failed to fill the Darling shaped hole which had grown in your heart in her absence.
You weren’t sure how long it had been since that day on the floor of your room, cradling your best friend as she drifted into her final sleep. Each day seeming to all blur into one. Every one more dull than the last. Your source of enjoyment had gone.
Yet Eris seemed to have had enough. He was familiar with the grief that came along after the loss of a pet. He has experienced it more times than he could count, having lived for centuries and loosing just as many pups for years he had been alive.
Your husband had decided you can’t go on like this, that something had to be said. You already knew it was coming right from the moment he sat down onto the bed, comforting hand moving to hold yours.
“I know it’s hard,” he spoke slowly and concisely, as if he had rehearsed exactly what needed to be said, “I know it feels like you’ll never be happy again. But you will. The reminders you look to now which cause you pain will soon bring you joy. Will bring you thanks, will make you grateful for the time you got to have with her.”
Your tears which had been spilling for the past few days stopped at the words your husband was saying. Your ears twitching as you took in every word he was saying. He saw your peaked attention as a sign to continue.
“You’ll see her everywhere. In the forests she used to run in, the halls, your bed, Eva, Lucerys, me. You’ll see her everywhere but you’ll be able to look and smile because you were fortunate enough to have shared those memories with her. You’ll never forget her. No one’s asking you to. But it’s time to move on.”
“It’s hard” you cried, the pain in your chest felt as though it would never leave. That it had built its home there and that’s where it would stay.
“I know,” he consoled, soft hand coming to brush against your cheek, “no one said it’s not hard. But you just have to be strong. For me. For the kids. For Darling.”
He was right of course. He annoyingly always seemed to be. But you understood what he was telling you, what he was asking of you.
That you did need to move on. But moving on didn’t mean that you had to forget. And you never would.
The new beginning
“Mum! Mum come look! Come on!” Lucerys called for you. Now taller and faster than you it took him very little effort to drag you through the halls as he ran. You chased after him, wondering what could be so urgent.
He led you outside, his hand still entwined with yours as he slowed his pace after noticing how you were struggling to keep up.
It was only now he had slowed that you were able to properly look at your son, at his long red hair, at the beaming smile across his face, at the spark of joy in his eyes as he led you to the kennels.
It had taken you a long time to come here after losing Darling. But once you did you had immediately found yourself at home, surrounded by a dozen other hounds who you loved just as dearly. Your time being spent with your son who held the same affinity with animals as his father, the two of you opting to spend most of your free time tending after your husband’s hounds together.
“She’s had the pups mum!” He exclaimed as he led you inside, hand pulling yours until the two of you reached the back of the kennel where Eva was doting over the mother hound. A litter of newborn puppies suckling at her.
You didn’t fight the tear which fell from your eye, nor the twinge of pain caused from the plucking of one of your heartstrings. You allowed yourself to feel the pain as you looked to their reddish coats and their small paws. You allowed yourself to be reminded of Darling. To grieve for what you had lost all those years ago.
Lucerys helped you to sit, excitedly bringing you with him to the floor as you admired the small puppies. Your son passing you one of the small hounds, which had started to cry as it was moved from its mother. Yet it fell silent once it had reached the warmth of your hands.
That old familiar glow settled in your chest. The rekindling of a love you once felt so strongly. A blissful smile crossing your face as you took in its dear little face.
“That one’s for you mum” Eva smiled, her bright eyes locking with your watery ones, “you can name her whatever you want. She’s all yours.”

Summary: Request - I know there aren’t many Eris fics out there, especially ones that dive deeper into his unexplored character, so I was wondering if you could write one? In my head, Eris is the same stoic, narcissistic male we meet in the books. His last dispute with the Night Court leave Rhys ordering Azriel to spy on him and his affairs... Read Rest Here
A/N: Sorry for the delay! My mom came into town this weekend so spent my time with her :) I LOVED WRITING THIS. Cheeky Rhys is my favorite and a different side to Eris is always welcomed. Thank you SO much for the request @talesofadragon
Pairing: Eris Vanserra x Female Reader (Mate)
Word Count: 6.2k +
TW: Pregnant Mate, coup, coup success (no direct talk of actual death)
In the dense shadows cast by the towering trees of the Autumn Court, Eris Vanserra's thoughts were troubled. Despite his position as Beron's son, he found himself increasingly ensnared by the labyrinth of court politic. A dangerous game where your involvement could mean your undoing. As his feelings for you deepened so too did his fear for your safety.
It was during a whispered conversation that was hidden away in the less frequented corridors of his father's estate that Eris's resolve hardened. "The Autumn Court is no place for you," he told you. His voice a mix of determination and despair. "Not while it's a chessboard for power and you could become a pawn my love."
Eris knew that secrecy was your best shield. For that he turned to Thesan, the High Lord of the Dawn Court. Known for his benevolence and discrete nature Thesan was a stark contrast to Beron. Eris met with Thesan under the veil of night at a secluded crossroads where the borders of their realms brushed against each other.
Eris approached Thesan with a heavy heart. His steps echoing through the quiet, ornate halls of the Dawn Court. The tranquil beauty of his surroundings did little to soothe his frayed nerves. He had spent countless nights planning his approach, and now, standing before the High Lord of the Dawn Court his usual stoic mask softened revealing the urgency and desperation he felt.
"I come seeking your aid but not for myself. For someone very dear to me," Eris began. His voice trembling slightly despite his best efforts to remain composed. Thesan, who was ever observant, noted the uncharacteristic vulnerability in Eris's eyes and inclined his head signaling for him to continue.
Eris took a deep breath as he gathered his thoughts. "The Autumn Court is a place of shadows and intrigue. A web of danger that ensnares even the most cautious as you know. My mate, she... she is from the Dawn Court and the light and peace here are what she needs to remain safe. Safe in her home. The Autumn Court's cruelty... it's no place for her especially now that she carries our child."
Thesan's eyes widened slightly at this revelation, but he remained silent allowing Eris to continue.
"I beg of you, Thesan," Eris nearly whispered as his voice was raw with emotion. "Grant her sanctuary here, within the safety and serenity of your court. Of her old home. I cannot bear the thought of her, or our unborn child being exposed to the darkness that pervades my father's realm. She needs a place where the shadows of the Autumn Court cannot reach. Where she can live without fear."
The plea in Eris's voice was palpable. Each word weighted with the love and desperation he felt. Thesan regarded him for a moment seeing the sincerity in his eyes and the genuine fear for his loved one's safety.
After a long pause Thesan nodded, his decision made. "The Dawn Court values peace and protection above all else. Your mate will find sanctuary here, Eris. She will be safe within our borders hidden from those who would seek to harm her."
Relief washed over Eris. His shoulders sagging slightly as the burden he had carried for so long began to lift. "Thank you," he breathed with his gratitude profound. "You have no idea what this means to me, to us."
Thesan offered a reassuring smile. "I do, Eris. Go with the knowledge that she will be well protected. And when the time comes I hope your court can find the light it so desperately needs." With a final nod Eris turned to leave, his heart lighter but his resolve stronger than ever. He would do everything in his power to ensure that you and your child would live in safety and peace as far away from the shadows of the Autumn Court as he could find.
Grateful for Thesan's understanding Eris arranged for your discreet relocation. Under the cover of darkness, you were spirited away to a hidden cottage deep within the Dawn Court's lush forests. It was a haven crafted from silence and secrecy surrounded by nature's untouched beauty where the only shadows were those cast by the leaves.
Eris visited as often as his duties allowed. Each departure from the Autumn Court a carefully orchestrated affair to avoid drawing attention. To the world he remained the calculating, distant son of Beron. But with you, he allowed his true self to surface—tender and fiercely protective.
"You must stay hidden, just a little longer," Eris would say during his visits. His hands cupping your face, eyes searching yours for any sign of weariness. "For now, this is where you are safest. One day I hope to bring you back with me. And not as a secret to be kept but as my queen to be celebrated."
In your hidden sanctuary under Thesan's subtle protection, you found a semblance of peace. The Dawn Court became your home again. A place where you could breathe away from the oppressive intrigues of the Autumn Court. Though your heart longed for the day you and Eris could be openly together you understood the necessity of the present shadows. Within them, you grew strong, waiting for the day the dawn could truly be yours.
You often linger in the quiet serenity of dawn's light patiently awaiting the gentle tap at your window that heralds his arrival. Eris, burdened with the obligations of being Beron’s son and a key figure in the Autumn Court manages to carve out stolen moments to visit you. Each time he appears there’s a softening in his eyes. A tenderness reserved just for you that no one back at his court ever gets to see. “I wish I could be here more,” he murmurs apologetically. His fingers brushing lightly against your skin. The touch contrasting starkly with his usual guarded nature. He repeats this apology with every visit, each word heavy with the longing for a simpler life one that was far removed from the intricate dances of court politics. You understand, of course. You always do. The stakes are high, and the secrecy of your relationship weighs heavily on both of your hearts.
Within the walls of the Autumn Court Eris embodies stoicism. His face is a mask of composure. His decisions and demeanor shaped by necessity and surveillance. Here, he is not just Beron's son but a pivotal player in the court's machinations. He was always under the watchful eyes of those who would see him falter. The warmth and smiles he shares with you are absent in his home instead replaced by the cold, calculating guise required of him.
Meanwhile, Rhysand senses an undercurrent of discrepancy in Eris’s pattern of behavior. Accustomed to the complexities of leadership and the personal sacrifices it demands Rhysand detects a shift that is hard to ignore. With a furrowed brow he calls upon Azriel, his master of spies. "Watch Eris closely," he instructs. His voice imbued with the gravity of his concern. "There’s a chance he’s entangled in something perilous. Or perhaps embroiled in a plot that could endanger us all."
Azriel nods, his presence already fading into the gathering shadows. Azriel was prepared to delve into the night. His task is to monitor Eris discreetly. To trace his secretive steps and to uncover any truths that might threaten the precarious balance between their realms. As Azriel disappears, a silent storm seems to brew on the horizon. The weight of potential betrayals and hidden agendas casting a long shadow over the Night Court.
Back in the secluded embrace of the Dawn Court where you await his next visit you remain blissfully unaware of the watchful eyes now turned towards your secret refuge. The moments you share with Eris are fleeting yet filled with an intensity that speaks of a profound connection, each whispered promise and shared dream a defiance of the roles and duties that seek to keep you apart.
As the Shadowsinger, Azriel had honed his skills to near perfection, blending seamlessly into the night as he monitored the borders of the Night Court. His task was to unravel the threads of a mystery that had intrigued Rhysand: the secretive movements of Eris Vanserra. Despite Azriel's expertise Eris had proven to be a challenging subject. He was lways cautious, always covered in a cloak of meticulous precision.
Night after night, Azriel's shadows whispered back fragments of routines, patterns that spoke of careful planning and discreet travels. Yet, nothing conclusive presented itself. No proof of wrongdoing or secret alliances—until that unexpected storm brewed over the Dawn Court.
Under the cover of an enveloping storm in the Dawn Court Eris Vanserra attempted to maneuver back to the Autumn Court with his usual stealth. The violent weather, however, disrupted his precise timings, extending his stay unexpectedly and playing havoc with his meticulously laid plans. This deviation caught the attention of Azriel who had been tracking the faintest traces of inconsistency in Eris’s movements for weeks.
That night as the storm raged Azriel’s shadows grew more potent, swirling with the tempest, mirroring the chaos of the natural world. They led him directly to a secluded path where Eris, cloaked against the elements and made his late departure from a hidden cottage tucked away in the lush foliage of the Dawn Court.
Azriel was drenched but determined. He confronted Eris on the storm-laden path. "Eris," Azriel called out sharply, his voice cutting through the howling wind, "the storm may shield you from others but not from the shadows."
Eris stopped, his silhouette tense. Azriel stepped forward as his presence was unmistakable. He was a shadow among shadows. "What secrets do you hide that necessitate such risks, even in such perilous weather?" Azriel demanded. This time his tone sharper, more pressing than before.
Seeing no immediate reply Azriel took a calculated step towards the cottage hinting at his intent to discover the truth himself. It was then that he saw it—fear, genuine and stark, flit across Eris’s features. A rare crack in his usually impenetrable facade.
"Wait!" Eris’s voice broke through the storm immediately halting Azriel's advance. The urgency and fear in his tone were palpable. "There is someone... someone very important to me inside. It’s not just my safety at stake. I implore you, for their safety, let us not draw any unwanted attention here."
Azriel paused as he evaluated Eris's plea, the sincerity in his voice resonating even amidst the tumult of the storm. "Who are you protecting, Eris?" Azriel asked. His stance unyielding yet not advancing further.
With the storm as their only witness, Eris's resolve crumbled. "I am to be a father," he confessed. The words heavy with a mix of fear and protective fervor. "The mother of my child, my mate, she is there in the cottage. The Autumn Court is no place for her Not with the dangers and the dark games afoot."
Azriel's expression softened ever so slightly understanding the depth of Eris’s concern. "This is a matter for Rhysand. Secrets involving cross-court movements can endanger more than just your family," he insisted though his voice carried a note of empathy.
In the aftermath of the storm that had inadvertently revealed his secret, Eris found himself following Azriel through the winding, rain-slicked paths that led back to the Night Court. The journey was tense, filled with the unsaid words and unasked questions that hung heavily between them. Azriel led the way, his figure a dark blur against the storm-dampened landscape.
Upon their arrival Rhysand awaited them in his study. The room bathed in the soft glow of floating orbs that cast long shadows across his face. The High Lord of the Night Court regarded Eris with a mix of curiosity and sternness. His expression a masterful blend of intrigue and authority.
"Eris," Rhysand began. His voice smooth and deceptively light, "Azriel has been quite entertained tracking your nocturnal adventures. It’s not every day we catch a son of Autumn dancing with the dawn. So, tell me, what drives you to seek refuge in the light while your own court dwells in shadow?"
Eris with his usual composure battling with the raw urgency of his situation took a deep breath before speaking. "It's a matter of the heart and of life," he confessed. The gravity of his words reflecting the seriousness of his plight. "I have my mate in the Dawn Court. She is with child. The Autumn Court is a place of machinations and malice. No place to raise a family or to cherish life."
Rhysand leaned back in his chair. A slow smile spreading across his face, his eyes twinkling with the thrill of unfolding secrets. "A clandestine love and an unborn child," he mused. His tone both amused and considerate. "You do know how to weave a compelling tale, Eris. But such secrets could tip the scales of power. They need... managing."
Standing up, Rhysand circled his desk, coming to lean against it as he faced Eris squarely. "Here’s my offer—a bargain if you will. I ensure your family's safety. We will shield them from the shadows of your father’s reach. In return, you pledge your loyalty to me. Provide me with insight into Autumn, help me understand its inner workings. Together, we might just find a way to bring a little more light into your court."
Eris's eyes narrowed slightly as he considered the proposal. "You're asking me to betray my court Rhysand."
Rhysand's grin widened with playful glint in his eyes. He was enjoying this far too much. "Not betrayal, Eris. Think of it as... strategic realignment. Besides, isn't it high time Autumn had a leader who values life and love over power and fear?"
Eris let out a short, humorless laugh. "You make it sound so noble, Rhysand. But we both know it's about leverage. You want eyes and ears in Autumn, and I need my family safe."
Rhysand shrugged, unfazed. "Call it what you like. Leverage, nobility, practicality. The fact remains that we both get what we need. And honestly Eris, who else are you going to trust with this? Beron? One of your brothers?"
Eris's gaze hardened. "Watch your tongue, Rhysand. My family may be fractured but they are still my blood."
Rhysand raised his hands in mock surrender. His smile never faltering. "Peace, Eris. I'm merely stating the obvious. Your loyalty to them is admirable but it's misplaced if it endangers your mate and child."
Eris felt the weight of his decision pressing down on him. The safety of his mate and future child was paramount and he knew this was the only way to secure it. With a heavy heart, he made his choice, knowing his true loyalty now lay with you and the life growing within you.
“You have a deal then Rhysand,” Eris agreed. His voice resolute yet tinged with regret. “I accept your bargain.”
Rhysand extended his hand with that mischievous glint in his eye. “Welcome to the family, Eris. Let’s hope this is the start of a fruitful partnership.”
Eris scoffed at the word "family," the irony not lost on him. "Family," he repeated, his tone filled with bitterness. This only drew a wider smile from Rhysand, who seemed to relish the complexity of the situation. Eris shook Rhysand’s hand firmly making sure to seal the pact with a mixture of determination and resignation. “Indeed. For both our sakes.”
Rhysand’s grin widened very pleased with the agreement. "Excellent," he replied, his tone rich with satisfaction. "I do enjoy a good bargain. Especially when it’s sealed under such... dramatic circumstances."
As Eris left the study the weight of the bargain settled around him. He was entwined now in the intricate dance of court politics in ways he had never anticipated. Yet, there was a flicker of hope. A chance that through this bargain his mate and child might live free from fear.
In the serene twilight of the Dawn Court the air was filled with the gentle scent of blooming night flowers casting a tranquil spell over the hidden cottage that had become your sanctuary. Eris had arrived under the cover of dusk, his presence a comforting shadow in the doorway. His eyes looked for yours with a mixture of longing and solemnity.
As he stepped inside the softness in his gaze was solely for you. The harshness of his other life momentarily stripped away. He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into a tender embrace. His touch speaking of missed moments and cherished returns.
“You’re looking more beautiful every day,” Eris murmured with his lips brushing against your temple as he spoke. His hand gently caressed your swollen belly. The life within a testament to your shared love hidden away from the world’s prying eyes. “Not long now,” he whispered. A trace of both excitement and anxiety threading his voice.
Eris knelt before you. His fingers tracing the curve of your belly with reverence. “Just hold on for a little longer, my love,” he said softly addressing both you and the unborn child. “The time is near, and soon, we won’t have to hide. Soon, I’ll bring you both into the light where you belong.”
He pressed his lips gently to your stomach. A silent promise passing from his lips to the child who stirred at his touch. “Your father is working on making the world a safer place for you,” he whispered as if he believed the baby could hear and understand. “A place where shadows turn into protection, not peril. Just a little longer.”
As the night deepened around you, Eris shared whispers of a plan—a strategic move that would change everything. “Rhysand and I, we’ve set things in motion,” he confided in you with his voice a low rumble filled with a blend of hope and determination. “It’s a risk, a great one, but it’s for us—for our family. For a future where our child can grow up without fear.”
In the quiet comfort of the cottage, as Eris shared the weight of his plans, you listened with a heart full of mixed emotions. Hope mingled with worry. When he finished speaking you pulled him closer, your hands framing his face gently guiding him to look directly into your eyes.
With the softest of touches, you pressed your lips to his. A kiss filled with all the love and reassurance you could muster. "Be careful, Eris," you whispered against his lips, the urgency of your plea softened by the affection in your voice. "Remember, you're not just fighting for the two of anymore. We need you, both your baby and me. We need you to come back to us."
Eris's eyes that were usually so fierce and determined softened under the sincerity of your words. He nodded as a vow passing between you two. "I will be careful," he promised, the steadiness in his voice aiming to soothe your fears. "I'll return to you, to both of you. That's a promise I intend to keep."
He held you a little longer. The silence around you blooming like the night flowers in the garden. It was a precious, fragile moment. One filled with the promise of futures both bright and uncertain.
With one last look, a lingering gaze that seemed to capture every facet of his love and commitment, Eris stepped back into the shadows of the night. Leaving behind the safety of the cottage for the dangers that awaited. You watched him disappear holding tightly to the promise sealed with a kiss. The belief in his return keeping your fears at bay as the dawn approached.
Eris's farewell to you was tender. It was filled with promises and reassurances whispered against the backdrop of a serene Dawn Court dawn. Yet, the moment he stepped out of the cottage and into the cool morning air, the weight of what was to come settled over him like armor. He glanced back once, locking away the image of you standing in the doorway. A silhouette of strength and grace against the soft morning light. With that final, poignant image etched in his heart he turned and disappeared into the forest where he was whisked away to the Night Court.
It was abrupt, he serene ambiance of the Dawn Court giving way to the charged atmosphere of the House of Wind. Under the shadow of the mountain and the watchful eyes of the stars, Rhysand and his Inner Circle were already assembled. The war room was alive with low conversations and the rustle of maps. Each member of the Inner Circle reviewing their roles one last time.
As Eris entered the room fell into a hushed anticipation. Rhysand looked up, his expression a mix of concern and resolve. "It's time," he simply stated acknowledging Eris's arrival as the final piece of their carefully laid plan clicking into place.
Eris nodded, the transition from loving partner to a leader poised to reclaim his court complete. He approached the table. His gaze sweeping over the maps and documents that laid out the coup in meticulous detail. His input had been critical in shaping the strategy, and now, as the dawn light began to spill over the horizon he prepared to lead the charge that would end Beron's reign.
"Let's go over this one last time," Eris said. His voice steady and commanding, drawing the group’s focus. The Inner Circle leaned in ready to absorb every last detail. In this room with these allies, Eris transformed from a partner worried for his family's safety into a general about to lead a battle for freedom and justice.
The plan was clear, each member’s role defined with precision. As they finalized their preparations the weight of responsibility was palpable but so was the sense of imminent change. They were not just planning a coup. They were setting the stage for a new era in the Autumn Court. An era that would begin as soon as Eris and his team stepped back through the portal, ready to act.
The coup unfolded with the silent ferocity of a shadow moving across a dimly lit room. Under the cloak of night, Eris, accompanied by a cadre of Night Court elites, maneuvered through the twisting corridors of the Autumn Court. Their steps were soundless. Their presence as spectral as the whispers of conspiracies that had long filled these halls. Azriel had masterfully neutralized the guards leaving Beron's defenses stripped away exposing him to the fate that awaited.
Beron, the once formidable High Lord of Autumn, was found alone in his private chambers. His usual contingent of protectors conspicuously absent thanks to Azriel. As Eris entered, the air tightened, charged with the imminent finality of what was to come. Beron turned, his face contorting with a complex mix of emotions—betrayal, fear, and a grudging acceptance of his grim fate.
"Eris," Beron began. His voice faltering under the weight of his son's cold gaze. "Is this how you claim your legacy? With treachery?"
Eris stood unwavering, his figure casting a long shadow that merged with the darkness of the room. "This isn't treachery, Father. This is justice," he replied. His voice resonating with a steely calm that belied the storm of emotions within. "For years your reign has sown fear and pain. Under your rule trust was a weakness and love a liability."
He stepped closer his eyes never leaving Beron's. "I learned from you all the ways a leader should not govern. You ruled with cruelty, believing it strength. You fostered suspicion and betrayal among your own people."
Beron's eyes that were once so commanding now flickered with the realization of his imminent demise. He tried to muster his usual authoritative tone, but it cracked, revealing his underlying despair. "You are my blood. Would you truly strike down your own father?"
Eris's expression hardened, any filial affection extinguished by years of cold indifference and calculated manipulation. "I am your son, but I am not you. I will not be a tyrant. I will be the leader that the Autumn Court deserves. One who rules with integrity, not through fear. I will undo the damage you've inflicted upon our realm."
The silence that followed was suffocating. Eris drew closer. His presence overwhelming the room. "You won't be remembered as a mighty ruler, only as a cautionary tale of the ruin that comes from such tyranny."
With that, Eris ended Beron's reign. Not with grandiose declarations or a spectacle, but in the quiet of the night. A swift and decisive action that mirrored his commitment to change. Beron slumped, a final sigh escaping him, a mixture of relief and resignation, as the terror of his own legacy finally caught up with him.
As Eris stood over his fallen father, the weight of his actions settled upon him. This was the first step toward a better future. A reign defined by compassion and fairness, the antithesis of everything Beron had stood for. In that profound and painful moment Eris vowed to reshape the Autumn Court into a place where fear no longer held sway.
It was declared the next morning that Beron had passed in his sleep. A peaceful end to a tumultuous reign that accepted without question by his brothers and even his mother who all were too aware of the need for change. The guards, their loyalty ensured through discreet negotiations by Cassian, upheld the narrative ensuring a seamless transition of power. It was either that or death.
Eris took the reins of leadership with a careful, watchful grace. The initial weeks were fraught with subtle maneuvers and delicate alliances. He addressed the Autumn Court not with grand declarations but with a quiet assertion of a new philosophy. One where fear and oppression had no place.
During this time Eris chose to keep you hidden a while longer in the Dawn Court ensuring that any remnants of his father's loyalists were fully pacified. That the court's stability was unquestionable. With the realm calm and the whispers of dissent fading into hopeful dialogues Eris finally felt the time was right to bring you home.
You were near the end of your pregnancy when Eris returned to you. His joy at seeing you so close to bringing their child into the world was mingled with a profound relief that he could now share his life openly with you. “The court is ready for you, my love,” Eris whispered as he knelt before you his hand gently caressing your belly. “And they will adore you as I do.”
With careful planning your arrival at the Autumn Court was orchestrated not as a mere introduction but as a celebration of the new life both in your womb and in the realm. When you finally appeared by Eris's side with his arm protectively around you, the court met you not with whispers of curiosity but with open arms and quiet respect.
Your presence at Eris’s side in the subsequent weeks, visibly pregnant and radiant, served as a powerful symbol of the new era in the Autumn Court. A time of transparency, renewal, and familial love. As you walked through the halls of the palace, those who met your gaze saw not just their future queen but as the hope for a new peace that Eris had promised.
With Eris's careful introduction of you to the court your grace and warmth quickly dispelled any lingering doubts. The both of you navigated this new chapter. Your partnership a public testament to the union of love and leadership that promised to guide the Autumn Court into a prosperous and open-hearted future.
The early morning light filtered through the windows of the Autumn Court casting warm hues over the hall where a significant gathering was about to take place. The air buzzed with anticipation. Not just for the political ceremony but for the new life that had already sparked joy and hope throughout the court.
Only weeks earlier, in the quiet sanctity of the royal chambers, you had given birth to a baby boy. The event was celebrated quietly but joyously within the palace and news of the heir's arrival had already endeared the court to their new High Lord and his family even more.
The great hall of the Autumn Court buzzed with an electric anticipation. Its ancient stones echoing the soft murmurs of courtiers and the rustle of fine silks. High Lords from neighboring courts lined the room. Their expressions a mixture of curiosity and cautious respect, with Rhysand among them, his observant eyes missing nothing.
You stood beside Eris, the warmth of his presence a steady comfort as you held your son. The baby, swaddled snugly, peeked out with wide eyes. His tiny fingers clutching at the air. Eris, resplendent in the deep hues of autumn—gold and russet embroidered onto his ceremonial robes—looked every inch the leader reborn. He exuded a calm authority. His gestures tender yet assured as he adjusted the blanket around your son, his touch gentle yet firm.
As the moment for the ceremony approached the murmurs hushed to a reverent silence. The eldest of the courtiers, a venerable fae with silver hair flowing down his back, stepped forward. He carried the mantle of the High Lord. An ornate piece embroidered with the rich history of their people.
“Today, we witness the dawn of a new era," the elder announced. His voice resonating through the hall. "Here stands Eris Vanserra who has proven his mettle not just as a warrior but as a leader who values justice and the welfare of his people above all."
Turning to Eris he draped the mantle over his shoulders. "By the power of all and the traditions of our court and the approval of the High Lords here present, I declare you, Eris Vanserra, High Lord of the Autumn Court. May your reign bring peace and prosperity to our lands."
Rhysand’s gaze was steady on Eris with a small, knowing smile playing at his lips, signaling silent approval. As the mantle settled on Eris's shoulders the court erupted into applause. The sound thunderous in the enclosed space, relieved. The courtiers’ faces were alight with hope and respect. Their applause not just a formality but a heartfelt endorsement of their new leader.
Eris took a moment to let the weight of the mantle and the responsibility it symbolized sink in. Then, he turned to you and your son. His expression softening. He leaned in close, his words for you alone amidst the clamor, "We begin anew, for us and our son."
As the applause continued Eris addressed the assembly. His voice carrying the strength of his convictions. "I stand before you today, not as a ruler in isolation, but as one who seeks to lead through unity and understanding. Together we will rebuild what was lost and forge new paths toward a future filled with hope."
The promise of his words with the vision he shared, resonated deeply, not just within the walls of the great hall but through the heart of every fae present. As you looked up at him, your son cradled between you, the significance of this moment was not just in the crowning of a new High Lord but in the celebration of a family that would guide this transformation. Beneath the watchful eyes of allies and adversaries alike you stood ready to embark on this new journey. A journey that promised to reshape the world around you.
As Rhysand approached with a dignified yet warm presence, the hall's chatter faded, creating a private sphere around you, Eris, and the Night Court High Lord. Rhysand's eyes softened as he gazed at the child in your arms and his smile conveyed genuine respect and joy.
"Congratulations are certainly in order," he began. His voice gentle, addressing you directly with a warmth that felt personal and sincere. "Not only for the birth of your son but for being the cornerstone upon which a new Autumn has been reborn. Truly, a new era indeed."
You felt a flush of pride at his words recognizing the depth of the role you had played in the transformations not just within your family but across the court. "Thank you, Rhysand," you responded. Your voice steady and filled with gratitude. "It's been a journey of many challenges, but seeing the court unite and thrive under Eris's leadership. It’s a reward in itself. Our son will grow up in a realm that values peace and unity all thanks to the support from friends like you."
Rhysand nodded appreciatively at your acknowledgment before turning his attention to Eris. "Today, we celebrate not only the stability and peace that Lord Eris has brought to the Autumn Court," he continued. His voice echoing subtly through the now quieter hall. "We also mark the formal conclusion of our agreement. A pact sealed to protect and to rebuild. Seeing the prosperity it has brought here, I declare our mission accomplished."
Eris, standing tall and proud beside you, responded with a nod. His voice resonating with confidence and a touch of emotion. "The support of the Night Court was invaluable during these times of change. With our goals achieve we now stand together not just as allies but as friends in work. As High Lord of Autumn, I am committed to leading with transparency and integrity. The very same principles that this alliance has been built upon."
Eris then turned back to you. His expression gentler as he included you and your son in his gaze. "And none of this could have been possible without the strength and support of my family," he affirmed, his voice tender. "My mate and our son are the heart of all we strive for. The future we envision."
Rhysand's smile broadened. His eyes reflecting a mixture of pride and camaraderie. "The Autumn Court is indeed fortunate. To rise from shadows into such a promising dawn guided by such devoted hands," he commented. "Your son will grow up in a realm reborn. One that cherishes life and love. A true testament to both of you."
With a final nod of respect Rhysand allowed other courtiers to approach and offer their congratulations leaving you with the affirming knowledge of your family's central role in shaping a hopeful future for the Autumn Court.
The day moved into celebration. The halls of the Autumn Court ringing with music and laughter, a stark contrast to the days of Beron’s rule. As you mingled among your people Eris was always nearby. It was clear that the court was not just accepting but truly embracing this new chapter.
Your family stood later at the balcony overlooking the vibrant gardens. Your son nestled against you. Eris’s arm wrapped protectively around both of you. Below, the people of the Autumn Court looked up, their faces smiling, their cheers a promise of loyalty and hope. This was the future Eris had fought for. A legacy of love and peace for his son and it was just beginning.
As the celebrations dwindled into the soft hues of the evening, the Autumn Court, now steeped in the gentle sounds of peace and prosperity, seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. The corridors and gardens that were once the backdrop of clandestine plots and whispered fears now echoed with laughter and hopeful conversations.
Inside the royal quarters, Eris, you, and your son found solitude away from the remaining festivities. The room was bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun filtering through large windows and casting golden patterns on the floor. Eris stood by the window while holding your son gently in his arms, watching as his little eyes fluttered closed, succumbing to sleep after a day filled with new sensations.
Turning from the window Eris walked back to where you sat, a soft smile playing on his lips. He handed your son to you, and you cradled him close feeling the gentle rise and fall of his tiny chest. Eris sat beside you, his arm encircling your shoulders, drawing you both into his embrace.
"Today, I felt everything align my love," Eris whispered, his voice a tender rumble in the quiet room. "Seeing our people, hearing their hopes, and holding our son—I have never been more certain of our path."
You nodded, leaning into his side, your head resting against his shoulder. "It feels like we've finally stepped out of the shadows," you murmured back feeling the truth of your words resonate deep within.
Eris kissed the top of your head. His gaze lingering on the peaceful face of your son. "We did more than step out," he corrected softly, pride mingling with joy in his tone. "We dispelled them, together."
As twilight deepened, the three of you sat in silence. A family united not just by blood but by the shared trials that had tempered your spirits and bound your hearts. Outside, the last light of the day gave way to the first stars of night, a symbol of the enduring light you had brought to the Autumn Court.
Eris's earlier turmoil with the weight of leadership and legacy, seemed to dissolve instead replaced by a profound contentment. In this quiet room with his family, his court secure and thriving, he felt a happiness that was deep and genuine. A happiness that whispered of enduring peace and future filled with promise.
This moment, simple yet profound, was the true beginning for Eris, you, and your son. A beginning marked not by declarations and formalities but by quiet love and shared dreams under the watchful stars of the Autumn Court.

I’m desperate for more Cassian x Reader fics!! Thank you :)
Arsonist's Lullaby

Cassian x Fem!Reader
Summary - Cassian thinks he knows best when he pushes you away, to protect you, but nothing prepared him for a threat on your life and no one can stop him from reaching you.
Warnings - angst, smut smut smut, fluffffffff, swearing, mentions of death
Word Count - 4.9k

Sunlight speckled over your skin, its warm embrace curling around like Cassian once did, glittering its unwavering love across your paled surface, willing it back to life.
It wasn't out of the ordinary for you and Cassian to fight, but something about that fight felt different. More final in a way.
Cassian was always worrying over you, his mate, and what harm his title could potentially inflict upon you. He had been pushing you away, had been spending more time away from you; you knew why, you knew he was scared of being the reason anything happened to you but that didn't mean that he had to shut you out.
Your mate had done everything to prepare you for any potential attack, any risk to your life, you were a skilled fighter thanks to Cassian, even Azriel broke into a sweat sparring against you and Cassian smirked with pride at the image.
Weakness was not a part of your vocabulary, he knew that, but he still treated you as a fragile swirl of winter warmth and you weren't appreciating it.
Confronting Cassian had ensued an argument that would shatter any unmated couple, you had both hurled abusive words to one another, you had called him spineless and unwilling to fathom your ability to be able to care for yourself like you had during the war against Hybern when you had used your rare gift of Solakenisis to hurtle spheres of radiating flame across the battlefield. In return, Cassian had called you weak and pathetic, he had called you reckless and immature, and landed his final blow of calling you jealous of the other women in your circle for having the freedom and strength that you would never be able to wield.
Such an argument left you both panting, with raw throats and wet cheeks, with snarls of hatred sculpted to your usually attached lips.
Cassian had left you then, had left you alone in your shared home with a bag in his hand without a word of when he would return to you. It felt final. It felt damning.
So you decided to leave yourself, but instead of leaving to escape the too-large-for-yourself home to the sanctuary of the residence of your family, you chose to leave the city altogether and chose to not tell a soul, not even Rhys as he tapped on the walls of your iron clad mind once he had felt your essence float through his wards.
Sunlight continued to kiss your skin as you lay in the familiar comfort of your Day Court bed, in the room Helion had promised to always keep for you. Helion was your older brother, well half-brother, but he wouldn't let anyone mutter a word about your bastard heritage, your shared father had been quite the rake in his prime, and such actions birthed you, his bastard daughter with the power to harness the destructive powers of the sun.
It was baffling for you to comprehend why exactly Cassian was so worried for you when you had the ability to unleash heavenly fire across Prythian if you so wished it. That, and the fact that the bond had snapped for Cassian one evening in Day was why Rhys had lobbied for your presence in his court in the first place all those years ago, long before Amarantha.
Amarantha was intrigued by you, you were the only individual she wasn't able drain power from, your abilities were other-worldly, untouchable. So, she gave you an option, stay uninvolved and advise her or watch your brother perish before your eyes. You chose the former.
All you have is your fire. Use it.
Amarantha erupted into flames when she had killed Feyre, unable to free herself from the bindings you had chained around her limbs. She had screamed, gargled in fact as you stood behind her, hands at your sides and your mind ripping her apart from the inside out. Boiling and burning her alive. Fire danced through your hair, it burned brightly in your eyes, sunlight pulsed around you, a blinding thing, a warning to others.
Your power was not yours to gift, it was not for anyone else to yield but you, Helion knew as much and was stern as he told Tamlin that you were not to offer up any of your power to save the human girl in his arms.
That said human girl, Feyre, now your High Lady, had grown to be a very good friend of yours.
Rising from the depths of the cream silken sheets, you touched your rough cheeks, crying for hydration from the tears you had poured upon them for the eighth night in a row. The bond had gone cold by your own foolish wish, you had locked it off, you had refused any attempts of contact, and Helion had obliged and denied your presence in his court when Rhys and Cassian had reached to him, Helion had even gone as far as to plant a seed in Feyre's mind that you may be in Autumn since Eris was a good friend of yours despite his relationship with the Night Court.
Autumn was the one place they would have difficulty infiltrating, and Eris was more than happy to play along if it gave you some peace.
Eight days was the longest you had gone without Cassian, without anything flowing through the bond, without seeing him, without being wrapped up in his body as he fucked you relentlessly into oblivion.
It was exhausting.
The Day Court sun brought some life back to you, cascading her glow upon you and enriching your skin with her gentle loving shimmer. She had always doted on you, the energy she bestowed upon you was unmatched, and you often found her watchful eye following you wherever you walked, whispering to you always.
The sun had chosen you, her vessel, to right the wrongs of the world, and Cassian always chose to look over that fact.
Your home court was known for its elaborate fashion, the ornate gold jewellery and accessories that you had found wrapped around your hands and feet, and the halo crown caressing the back of your head. The dress you had worn held a solid gold bodice of intricate swirls that allowed your skin to peek out beneath it, that attached to a pale shimmering skirt, and golden chains draped across your collarbones and fell down your spine. It moulded to your figure perfectly.
You were not weak or jealous, or reckless, you were a child of the sun, a strong and formidable creature. No one, not even Cassian, could take that from you.

Cassian had been cursed out by every member of your shared family when he had arrived at the House of Wind looking like shit with a bag between his fingers.
He thought he was right. He thought he was protecting you. But after having his ass handed to him by Azriel and Rhys, and Feyre and Mor's stern words, and Amren's glare of pure disgust, Cassian knew he had fucked up.
Cassian had raced back to your shared home, one that was a harmonious myriad of light and dark, of sun and night, and found it solemn and empty. He had raced up the stairs, he had looked in your drawers and saw everything still in place, then he had headed to your vanity and inhaled sharply when he saw that the small picture of your mother had gone, which meant you had too.
Screaming down the bond, Cassian was met with a stone cold wall of rippling silence, and he broke. Cassian fell to his knees holding one of your dressed between his fingers, it still smelt of you, of hot salted ocean breezes and fresh roses, and he cried.
He had spent the next week trying to locate you, being turned away from every court, even Helion had no idea where you had gone, but had told Feyre that you may have gone to Eris, your friend, as you knew that would be the one place he couldn't get to you.
Rhys had demanded entry to Autumn, which Eris had refused with a sly smirk on the boarder, his hounds circling through his legs. Eris was enjoying Cassian's pain far too much and had the gall to quip, "She doesn't want to see you, Lord of Bloodshed. Perhaps you listen to her this time, considering you have a habit of refusing to."
A spit in the face of his love for you. Cassian had gone to step over the threshold only to be held back by Azriel, Eris' hounds were snarling and barking at the three Illyrians trying to enter their home, "You would risk war?"
Eris grinned, fixing the lapels of his jacket, "A war would take y/n from you forever. I don't think you'd be that stupid," he turned from them, whistling for his hounds to follow, "As long as she's here, she will be fine. I suggest you go home and mull over the ways in which you have failed her."
Missions were the only thing that would give Cassian the opportunity to relent his frustrations, his force was sickening, he broke the bones of their enemies with his bare hands, he ripped them apart with his own self-loathing fury. Azriel had never seen Cassian in such a state, he blamed himself for your disappearance, and rightfully so, any of them could have told him that you were capable of destroying him if needed, let alone anyone else. Though, Azriel didn't blame Cassian for trying to protect you, for believing that your bond could bring harm to you, Azriel would think the same if he were in Cassian's shoes.
"Cass, we do need at least one of them alive," Azriel followed his brother on his war path, he watched him in concern as he drove his sword through the hearts of many soldiers.
Bodies lay broken around them, blood coated the ground and walls, it was a monstrous sight to take in. Cassian's hair lay unbound on his shoulders, matted with sweat that coated his brow, his wings were tense as he swung, they shuddered in fear of his force.
Cassian grunted to Azriel, whipping his air away from his face and facing him with a dead glare behind his hazel eyes, "Fine," he smirked and sheathed his sword, motioning to Azriel to approach the singular male who was moments away from death.
Blood coated his lips, his eyes had dimmed, but he still wore evil like a brooch on his heart, he spat the contents of his bloody mouth at Azriel as he bent down to grasp him by the collar, "You're going to tell me of your plans to attack Velaris, you're going to tell me and I may spare you."
The male chuckled low and sinister, hatred blazed in his faltering eyes and he smiled, toothy, but blood coated the once yellow tinged teeth. There wasn't much time to get answers, "We're already moving, you're too late."
Azriel cocked his head to the side, "I'm going to need more than that. I can make this much more painful for you," Truthteller dragged across the males bobbing throat, he knew of the Shadowsinger, he had heard to rumours of his ruthless torture.
The males gaze flickered to Cassian who stood behind Azriel, leaning against the bloodied wall looking disinterested, "You can thank him for that," his finger twitched in Cassian's direction, "Do you really believe that your High Lord is the protector of your court?" The male leaned forward, "Your greatest protector, the most powerful being in Prythian, is no longer being hidden by your court. She is elsewhere, we have been watching her, preparing for the perfect moment to snatch her away. With her power in our grasp, we will be unstoppable."
Cassian felt panic settle in his soul as the male continued, bitterly laughing as he spoke, "Y/N. A child of the sun, back in her home court, ready to follow her destiny. You can thank your Lord of Bloodshed for accelerating our plans."
Azriel turned to Cassian with wide eyes, eyes that Cassian matched. It was never about attacking Velaris, it was about capturing you, using your power for their own tyrannical plans, bleeding you dry and taking your power from your body.
"Cass-"
But Cassian was already moving, turning on his heels and pelting from the room as fast as he could, flexing his wings to ready them for flight whilst calling out to Rhys to meet them at the Day Court Palace as fast as possible.
Cassian flew as fast as he could, he would never be able to forgive himself if anyone harmed you, especially when he had made it so easy for them to reach you. He had to find you, he had to stop it, he had to save you.
Helion growled at the intrusion of the three Illyrians entering his personal library that was three times the size of the library at the House of Wind, but his snarl faltered when he saw the frenzied eyes and the blood coating Cassian and Azriel's armour. He rose from his seat quickly, not having a moment to say anything when Cassian paced over to him, "I don't have time for pleasantries. She's in danger. Where is she?"
Helion noted the fire in Cassian's eyes, the way his siphons glowered dangerously in awaiting answer, "How do I know that this isn't some elaborate ruse to take her?"
Azriel stepped forward, voice low in warning, noticing Cassian's fists clench and his chest seethe with anger, "Our enemies have been hunting her, they wish to drain her power and unleash it on the world. We need to find her."
Helion's language shifted, he faced Cassian with equal fury, going toe to toe with the Lord of Bloodshed and bit, "If anything happens to my sister, I will end you."
"I will end myself before you ever could, now tell me where she is."
A wild wind bellowed through the open arches, enough for Helion to wince at the forceful impact. That wind swarmed through the palace, it was wild and cold, it was a warning from the world to run and hide. Helion fought against it toward the balcony, his locks whipping around in the tornado that had encased his court, his eyes focused on the forest in the distance and he pointed, "She's in there."
Then, from nowhere, bright thunderous light quaked from the sky as large spheres of sun fire raced past them and slammed into the ground below, where you were. The trees lurched with the impact, splintering and sprouting in differing directions, wailing at their demise, and the ocean dragged itself back to a safe distance. Fire rained from the sky, but the wind was too forceful for any of them to fly to you.
"RHYS!" Cassian bellowed to his brother, their eyes locked and he nodded, catching Cassian with a free hand with Azriel in the other, winnowing them to where they needed to be.
The scene was sickening. Trunks lay cracked and broken, simmering fire trickled along the earth that rumbled beneath their feet with each impact of fire that slammed against the ground. They couldn't see two feet in front of them let alone much else due to the heavenly light that emitted from you, but Cassian felt you, for the first time in what felt like centuries, he felt you.
Cassian felt your fury course down the bond, it was mixed with fear and guilt, and it lead them straight to you. In return, he threw all of his love down the bond as another sphere of your fire hurtled down through the sky, and he swore he could have heard you gasp and pause.
The light dimmed, and their eyes adjusted to see you in the clearing metres ahead from them, surrounded by bodies, some bloody and other burnt beyond recognition. A dagger was glued between your fingers and you let our a shaky exhale, like you didn't realise you had been holding your breath all that time.
The clearing looked more like a crater, a once plush area of wildlife that you sought comfort in was now a crater of ash and broken souls, and Cassian watched your cracked eyes survey your surroundings, hating what you had done.
Cassian rushed to you, slamming his body into yours and cradling you into his chest, "Are you alright?" He pulled away and cupped your face in his hands gingerly, wiping away the ash that had settled on your cheeks, "Speak to me, my love."
"I'm okay," your voice was hoarse and quiet, your eyes connected and he saw the tears pool in them along with the devastation that coursed through the bond, "I'm sorry. You were right-"
"Don't apologise," he told you, wiping away the tears that spilled down your ashen cheeks, leaving streaks of sunlight flowing down them, "I was wrong, so wrong. You don't need anyone to protect you, you aren't weak or jealous, you are strong and more capable of protecting yourself more than anyone I know. You are your greatest protector, not me. I'm so sorry, I was just trying to keep you tucked away and safe. But you've always meant to shine, I never should have tried to stop it."
"You were trying to keep me safe, Cass," your voice trailed off and you examined the scene, paying no notice to Rhys and Azriel at the edge of your crater, "What have I done?"
Cassian's fingers ran through your hair, "You did what you had to, alright? It's okay. If I hadn't pushed you away then none of this would have happened. I'm so stupid. I'm so sorry."
Your hands lay on his chest and you sighed, "Take me home, Cass. I can't be here."

Cassian had doted on you the moment you were back in his arms, he ordered Rhys to winnow you both back to your shared home whilst Azriel stayed to assure Helion that you were fine and in need of some much needed time with your mate.
The searing heat of the tub wound around your muscles and soothed the ache in your soul. The water was far too hot for Cassian to climb into, so he instead sat on the edge of the tub and washed your hair, picking apart the knots within it and allowed his large hands to unwind the bundled nerves in your shoulders.
When the water had gone cold, he lifted you from the tub and dried your limbs, he brushed your damp hair and dressed you in a thin nightgown, and not once did he stop apologising to you, not once did his lips stop peppering kisses along your shoulders and forehead.
You stood before him, needing much more than just sweet kisses and kind words.
"Tell me what you need," he had said when he saw the look in your eyes, one that radiated doubt but also desire.
Cassian stood still in front of you, his hands resting on your hips and you stood on your tiptoes to capture his lips in a searing kiss, one that he hummed into, allowing his hand to cradle the back of your head as he deepened it. Cassian had missed your lips too much.
Against his own building desire, Cassian gently pushed you backward, "My love, you're hurting," he didn't want to take advantage of your vulnerability in that moment.
"Do you love me?"
Cassian frowned, and let out a disbelieving scoff, "More than anything."
"Good," you pressed your lips to his again, pulling back slightly and peering at him through your lashes, "Because I need you to fuck me like you don't."
His cock twinged at the words and he closed his eyes, opening them to see you push the straps of your nightgown over your shoulders, revealing your peaked nipples to him as it fell down your body. Cassian knew why you needed it, you needed to feel something other than the pain of destroying one of your most sacred places, you needed him in the most passionate way possible.
"Are you sure?" Fire spread through him when you used his forearms as leverage to capture his lips on yours again, in a starving embrace, one that sent blood pooling to his cock that throbbed against his leathers in knowing that where it needed to be was only inches away.
Cassian walked you backwards until your legs hit the back of your bed and you lowered yourself onto the mattress. Fierce lust was laced within you, you propped you heels up on the frame and spread your legs to your mate, that feral animalistic need to be rutted filling the room illuminated by flickering candlelight.
Wasting no time, Cassian ripped his leathers from his body and fell to his knees before you, his muscles contracted in the golden hue of the room, he grasped your thighs and dragged you toward him, his warmth breath fanning over your core as he placed kisses down your stomach and in the creases of your thighs, making you suck in a shaky breath as he placed a final peck to the bundle of nerve that were aching for his tongue.
"I've missed the taste of you so much, my love," the movement of his lips on your skin made electricity course through you, the stubble of his beard scratching against your inner thighs.
Whining, your back arched when he drug his tongue up your slit, the groan emitting from his throat vibrating against you threatening to blind all of your senses. He smiled against your core, winding his tongue around your clit and sucking on the nerves, his fingers dug into your thighs to stop your squirming as his pace became relentless. Sucking, biting, and swirling his tongue in the ways he knew made you turn into a mewling mess, he pumped his cock in his hand to relieve the building pressure, to allow him to focus on you, his beautiful moaning mess of a mate completely at his mercy.
Cassian lapped up your taste, groaning in pleasure at it as he pumped his digits in you, pressing down on your stomach with his free hand to make that rough spot inside of you meet every brush of his touch. He noted the hitch of your breath and the way your fingers found his hair, pushing his face into your cunt, telling him how close you were from falling from grace. Cassian kept his pace, taking your throbbing clit into his mouth and flicking his tongue against it as his fingers hit that spot again and again until you were crying out his name and tensing around his fingers.
Your mate continued his tirade, pulling two more orgasms from your lips before his pace slowed and he removed his fingers from you. Humming, he sucked your juices from one of his fingers and then slid the other into your mouth as he hovered over you, his cock ready and weeping on your thigh.
He threw your clenched legs apart and nestled between them, "You can thank me tomorrow," he told you, no doubt alluding to the fact that your lips hadn't found his cock yet, "I just need you."
Without warning, he pushed into you, and his delicious cock stretched you out, you threw your head back and moaned, your fingers digging into his shoulders as he lowered himself and captured your lips hungrily against his own, transferring the taste of you to your tongue. He moved, slowly at first, and you met his hips in the rolling rhythm he had created, then he became more desperate and picked up his pace, biting and sucking at the skin on your neck, no doubt marking it for everyone to see once he would allow you out of your bed after fucking you on every surface possible.
Cassian groaned into the crook of your neck, his fingers held a bruising grip on your hip as he slammed into you, the tip of his cock smacking against that rough spot inside of you, "I love you, y/n. I love you so much," his brows were furrowed, like he knew how much force he was using and had to tell you how much he loved you just in case he was taking it too far.
Panting, you replied, "I love you too, Cass. I love you," you were cut off by your own moan, your hands flew above your head encased in his own, he gripped the sheets and snarled and he pulled out of you and flipped you over, pushing your head into the mattress and growling as the tip of his cock teased your entrance again, and you took it in it's entirety, groaning so deliciously that it took everything within Cassian to not explode at the sight of your ass bouncing on his cock.
Cassian bent down, his fingers delicately wrapped around your throat and pulled you upright, his fingers stayed there, restricting your oxygen in the best way imaginable as he pushed up into you, sucking and nibbling on your earlobes and neck between his own rough moans of pleasure.
As long as you had Cassian, there was nothing else you'd ever need to feel fulfilled. He was everything, your life and death, your shoulder to sob upon, your cock to cum on. Cassian was yours, his soul belonged to you just like every fibre of your existence hung onto him.
"Stay. Don't ever leave me again," his voice was full of emotion in your ear as he fucked you into the whispering depths of the ocean that was your bond.
Cassian's free hand twisted at your nipples before travelling downward, resting atop your stomach and pushing your hips backward to meet his relentless thrusts, and you felt the familiar pressure building there, holding on wasn't possible when his fingers travelling further, finding your clit and tracing slow circles into the nerves, smirking into your shoulder as high pitched cries flowed from your lips.
"I'll never leave you," you were breathless, and you hardly felt him pull out from you as he pushed you onto your back again, throwing your leg over his arm and pounding into you until he began to falter. His lips found your nipple again, sucking and biting on the sensitive nub of skin, and his fingers continued to flicker over your clit, "Cass, please. I'm going to-"
"So am I," he groaned, pressing his forehead to yours, "Cum for me, my love," Cassian pressed his lips to yours, capturing your orgasm in his mouth before releasing your lips to allow you to scream his name as that searing white heat consumed your entire body.
Cassian could have swore you began to glow as it consumed you, and you basked in that warmth, he basked in the clench of your walls quivering around his cock and milking him until there was nothing left to fill you with. Your mate fucked you through both of your highs, groaning your name and growling as he filled you, panting as he slowed his pace and lay on top of you.
In the comfortable silence, you found him staring at you with wonder, he hovered over you propped up on his elbows, tracing his fingers along your glistening skin, "What?"
Cassian smiled, "I want a baby," he admitted, "I can't stop myself from being scared about losing you, a part of me will always be terrified. But, what I can stop is myself holding back in the life I dream of with you," his hazel eyes scoured your face, and peace settled between you, "I want a product of us, of our love and strength. I want a family with you, a big family full of love and wonder and adventure where you have to tell me off after our fourth for wanting another," you giggled tearfully beneath him and he wiped a tear away with the pad of his thumb, "The idea of losing you is my greatest fear, y/n. I don't want anything to happen to us, and I don't want us to be left with nothing if-"
"Cass," you cooed to him, pulling him from the devastating thoughts in his mind, "I want all of that too, I want the picket fence and enough children to drive Az insane. Enough cousins for Nyx for them all to grow up in their own inner circle and replace us all one day. I want a life with you void of sadness. I want you, forever, even when our day comes to leave this reality, I will want you and I will guide you to the heavens so that we may live in an eternity of love waiting for everyone we adore to join us."
Cassian pulled you up the bed and encased you in his arms, draping a thin sheet over your forms and running his fingers through your hair whilst you kissed his chest softly, "You found me in darkness and we made our own light. We burn brighter than anything that may await us," he kissed your forehead and gazed into your eyes, a smirk worked its way onto his face, "The sun has nothing on you, you know."

Bad Idea, Right?
An Eris x Reader drabble
(Part 2) (Part 3)
Warnings: a bit smutty, language

“Your dad’s going to kill you.”
My head was pounding. This bed was so warm.
Last night was a blur.
Nyx, how many times do I have to request that you not intrude on my thoughts before 9 am.
“It’s almost noon, cousin.”
Shit!
Shit, cover for me! Please.
“I told you this was a bad idea.”
Right. I know. Cover for me anyway?
“One hour. Be here in one hour. You owe me.”
Don’t worry, Nyxie. I’ll cover for you the next time you visit the lovely daughter of Spring.
Slamming my mental shields up, I rolled over to the fiery lover next to me with a groan, “Get me out of this autumnal wasteland.”
Good morning to you too, little one.” the redhead pressed against my backside grumbled.
I rolled over to smack his shoulder. “Gross, Eris. I’m the same age as Aunt Nesta when you proposed to her.”
Eris smirked. “She never called me daddy like you do.”
I let out a mirthful laugh, hoisting myself on top of him, straddling just below his rippled abdomen, “I’m never fucking you again.”
“You say that every time, dear.” Gripping his hands on my hips, groggy voice a whisper, “Yet somehow you keep falling back into my bed.”
Fuck. He was so hot.
I leaned down, pressing my breasts to his bare chest, face just an inch from his. “I can’t help that my shadows love how you beg.”
A growl escaped the back of his throat as my shadows restrained his wrists above his head. My gaze turned icy as I commanded, “Eyes on me, Eris.”
His only response a shift of his hips.
“Don’t fucking move.” I purred.
Nyx could keep the family off my back for a little longer.

"The Beholder" Azris Oneshot
Pairing: Azriel/Eris Vanserra
Word Count: 36,304
AO3 link
Description: Azriel and Eris both think the other is beyond gorgeous. The pinnacle of walking, talking perfection, the most attractive faerie to grace Prythian with their presence. After all, they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The only problem is, they spend too much time hating each other to actually do anything about it.
Hello hello Azris nation, guess who just posted his ridiculously long Azris slowburn oneshot that's literally just about how hot Azriel and Eris think the other is?
It's me, and I have the AO3 link and a preview here for your perusal! The fic does venture into some mature territory and does contain eventual smut, but I wasn't really sure what to rate it, so just consider this your warning. You can check it out using the link above or read the preview below!
It was almost ironic, Azriel thought, how easily he fell. Not in love, really. But something close to it. A winged beast somehow prone to tripping into endless depths of desires that could never be fulfilled. He was a spymaster and a torturer, and yet the minute he became fixated on someone, it became this prolonged, festering thing. Like a wound that refused to heal. He was forged to withstand the brutality of war, condemned to thrive in darkness, a being of sharp blades and black shadows. Yet the moment he grew attracted to someone, he felt like it was a physical, ever-burning brand that could be seen by all. A bright beacon of obvious weakness.
He loved his family, of course. He loved Mor in a different way for a very long time. He still wasn't entirely sure where she stood in his heart. But love was something that formed in him over the course of years, centuries. He was not worried about love. It was a diamond at his center, unbreakable, coated in layers upon layers of impenetrable steel. He no longer heard echoes of that incessant mantra pounded into his head for the first eleven years of his life. You are not worthy of having anything to love.
Now, his love was a well-guarded choice. A distinct investment he made into those he cared about the most. It was simple, and strong, and he had forty nine years of throwing himself against Rhysand's protective wall of magic to prove it. He had hundreds of years of stepping back into the shadows while Mor invited strangers to her bed to prove it. She was…confusing, in that way. But his love for her was not.
So no, he did not worry about love. This wasn't about love. It was about attraction. Infatuation, being enamored, having desire. A certain kind that went beyond his basic instincts to get carnal relief.
That was the true weakness, what he felt was on display for everyone to see. That's what he always fell so easily into, wings ablaze the whole way down. The feeling of finding a missing piece of his soul, and the need to make it his own again. Yes, love could come of it. In theory. He supposed that's what happened with Mor. He first desired her like she was a part of himself that he'd lost, or that had been ripped away from him. Then she became one of the few people he allowed himself to love, and he fell into it as gracelessly as he fell into his initial infatuation with her. But his love and desire for her were often inseparable, a blurred mess of too-bright colors that didn't quite fit in with his shadowed life. His love kept him tethered to her, even when she pulled further and further away, even when his desire was almost completely obscured by mere obsession.
He didn't know how to love anyone else for a very long time after that.
And then along came Elain Archeron, emerging from her cocoon of bleak listlessness bit by bit every day. Every once in a while, in her fleeting moments of presence, he felt that spark of aching want, of all consuming need. It was small, but it was there. The glimmer of hope that perhaps Mor was not the end for him. That maybe one day he could love someone else the same way. But Elain was still so new to being Fae, still so lost to a world that she had never meant to be thrust into, like a flower waiting for the right time to bloom. So as soon as his hope flickered to life when he felt that desire, it was smothered until there was nothing left but bitter, sinking shame.
It wasn't as if he'd ever deserve her love in return, anyway. Not from someone so pure as Elain, her skin kissed by dew drops, her fawn-soft eyes seeming to beg for safety. He would never give her what she needed, and she would never give him what he deserved. Not when she couldn't know him, what he was, what he did. She was too pliant, too bendable, and he suspected that she had too much love in her soul for him to take on. But it was never about what he could get in return. It was just always nice, in those fleeting moments of hope, to think that one day he could give that love to someone other than the female who'd been denying it for five hundred years.
But love was easy to put aside when he was hit with these waves of incessant need. White-hot desire that left him feeling unstable and empty. Something much more urgent than just an itch in need of scratching, but something much less committed and unbreakable than love. With love, he just wanted someone to be there to accept it. With desire, he wanted to take. There was a certain lack of control over it that he particularly despised. Not just the fact that he always felt completely and utterly seen when it happened, but that he couldn't do anything about it...or who it happened with.
It felt like a cruel trick when he felt that simmering fire of attraction burn along his veins at the meeting of the High Lords, of all places.
Because who would ever want to desire the person they hated most?

A single thread 🧵
One shot featuring past Feyre/Tamlin, Feyre/Rhysand, Nesta/Eris, Nesta/Cassian, Elain/Lucien, and mentions of Elain/Azriel
The following is a work of fan made fiction, the characters mentioned belong to Sarah J. Maas.
It always starts with a nightmare.
Sometimes, Feyre finds her self back on the battlefield holding Rhysand’s lifeless corpse. Or watching her sisters forced into the cauldron. There were even moments when she is back in the Spring Court manor watching Tamlin closing the door as she begs him not to leave her there.
But in the end, Feyre can never wake herself up. This dream, this nightmare never, allows her to leave until she is standing in the endless abyss. Alone. And faces whatever it has planned for her.
Feyre had voiced her concerns to Rhysand when they first started, four days since her rescue from the Spring Court. The nightmares had scared her so badly that she refused to sleep. Believing that if she closed her eyes to sleep she would not return from the nightmare that trapped her.
When she had told Rhysand why she couldn’t sleep he had brushed it off as merely a nightmare, and told her not to think about it too much. Claiming the trauma and horrors they experienced needed to work itself out in their dreams to they could get better. But for some reason, Feyre didn’t believe him then, and she still doesn’t to this day.
She never dared to voice her skepticism about Rhysand’s unbothered response to her nightmares after that. Feyre had even gone so far as to banish the thought from her mind so Rhysand didn’t come across it by accident.
The nightmares only got worse.
Feyre stared out into the darkness once again. Dressed not in her armor from the battlefield, or the rags she wore when she was human. Just the small light blue nightgown she wore to bed almost every night. With nothing to provide any reassurance of protection.
The initial fear she had felt when she had first dreamt of this place never left. Even after so many years of being forced into this empty prison it still terrified her.
“It’s just a dream, it’s just a dream.” Feyre whispered, her eyes darting out in every direction for something, anything to jump out. Nothing ever did. But the paranoia never left.
At some point her legs gave out and Feyre collapsed to the floor. She hugged her knees to her chest and closed her eyes; continuing to whisper the quite reassurances that soon she would wake up and it would all be over.
“Feyre…”
Feyre opened her eyes and lifted her head, believing for a moment that Rhysand was trying to wake her up. But it didn’t sound like him. The voice was quieter, more feminine.
“Feyre…” the voice whispers again ending in a laugh.
“Go away!!” Screamed Feyre, her voice echoing around her but it just made the voice laugh harder and harder.
“Stay with the high lord Feyre.” The voice mocked. Then it vanished, as if it was never there to begin with.
Feyre closed her eyes and lowered her head once more. This was usually where the nightmare ended. Soon she would awake in her house, with her husband, and their darling baby boy. Everything would be alright with the world and the nightmare would be over until the next night.
But when she opened them again, she was still in the abyss.
It didn’t make any sense. Feyre scrambled to her feet unable to believe her surroundings. The nightmare usually ended there, it always did! So what changed?
Then, she looked down at herself and nearly stumbled back in shock. A golden thread appeared to be attached to her night gown, right where her heart is. It stretched on and on further into the darkness until it reached someone standing a few feet away.
“Tamlin.” Feyre whispered softly.
The High Lord of the Spring, her ex fiance (her ex love), stood there dressed in a loose white shirt and green pants with brown boots and his long golden hair looked like he had just ran his hands through it. Gone was the guarded and sharp expression he had given her over the years. Instead he looked at her with the soft loving expression he always did when she was at the manor. The one she used to adore more than anything in the world.
The thread between them seemed to grow warm, like a nice sunny day and hummed with a bond that felt all too familiar.
Tamlin started walking toward her, that soft smile never faltering or growing cold and his eyes seemed so warm and inviting. Like he was the Tamlin she knew before Amarantha tore them apart. The one she had gone under the mountain to die for.
But before he could reach her the sound of scissors snipped through the air and the thread was broken. The bright warmth was replaced with the bitter frost and the golden thread faded to black.
Tamlin’s face crumpled into a pained expression and he began to reach out for her. Instinctually, Feyre reached out too, not understanding why she felt the need to ease the pain. To make it go away. They could fix it, they just had to tie the string together.
A familiar hand grasped her outreached hand and pulled her back. Feyre stumbled back into familiar protective arms. Sure enough, when she looked up it was Rhysand holding her against his warm chest. But where she normally felt protection something felt off. Almost wrong.
But that couldn’t be right, Rhysand was her mate. He loved her. Why would Feyre ever feel unsafe when he loved her?
A strange tugging sensation at her heart urged Feyre to look down at where the string used to be. No, not used to be. When Feyre looked down the string was still there. But the golden thread faded the further it went along until it lost all of its color, tied to another colorless string that faded to a dark red color attached to Rhysand. Her light blue night gown had somehow faded to a dull grey.
Wrong. It felt so wrong and Feyre wanted to back away but Rhysand used his right hand to tighten his grip on her arm and the left to pull her closer to him.
“Feyre darling.” Rhysand whispered, sending fear down Feyre’s spine.
Panicked, Feyre looked back across to where Tamlin stood, wishing he would save her, but he was gone.
Feyre desperately looked around for any sign of Tamlin, that he didn’t disappear, he can’t be gone! But instead of Tamlin, Feyre saw someone she wasn’t expecting.
“Nesta?” Feyre whispered in disbelief.
Sure enough her sister was standing a few feet to Feyre’s right. But instead of the cold and bitter expression Nesta had always wore her face looked calmer, more gentle. Gone were the battle leathers of the Valkyrie Nesta wore with pride, in its place was a dress made of fabric that swirled in orange, yellow, and reds.
Nesta also had a string attached to her heart. Unlike Feyre’s golden string this one appeared like silver. Yet attached to the other end was not Cassian, like Feyre’s expected, it was Eris.
He stood there in dark red robes accented with gold trimmings. The way Eris looked at Nesta was unlike anything Feyre had ever seen. It should have felt wrong for Eris to be looking at her sister in such a way. He wasn’t Nesta’s mate, wasn’t he?
Feyre watched helplessly as the pair started walking toward each other. The string between them seemed to glow brighter and brighter as they got closer to each other.
‘This isn’t right, this isn’t right, this isn’t right!’ Feyre thought over and over and over again.
Then the horrid snipping sound returned. Eris vanished as if he was never there and Nesta crumpled to the ground.
“Nesta!” Feyre screamed. She struggled against Rhysand’s hold but his grip was like iron.
The silver thread attached to Nesta began to fade and Feyre began to struggle harder. If she could just reach Nesta. She could tie the string to hers and Nesta would be ok. Feyre didn’t know what the strings were for but she knew they were important.
A few feet away from Nesta the darkness seemed to part allowing something to come through. But instead of Eris, it was Cassian.
Feyre stopped struggling and watched with relief as Cassian walked toward Nesta. He paused in front of Nesta and reached down to grasp the silver thread attached to her and yanked hard. Nesta screamed out in pain and tried to pull the string out of Cassian’s grip but Cassian tied the silver string to the dark blue string attached to him. The once vibrant dress Nesta wears begin to fade until the dress is pitch black.
Cassian then hauled Nesta to her feet and forced her to stand in front of him. And Nesta looked out into the abyss with the same dark yet vacant look Feyre had seen all of her life.
The horror of what Feyre saw kept replaying in her mind. As if her mind couldn’t comprehend the cruelty Cassian just used against her sister. This was not Cassian.
‘What if it’s not the one he shows you?’ A traitorous thought questions. But Feyre shakes it off.
No, the Cassian she knew would never be this cruel, especially to Nesta. They were mates. Right?
Yet Feyre doesn’t have long to contemplate the possibility of Cassian and Nesta as her attention is drawn to the left of her. The light is almost blinding but as her eyes adjust she can see Elain.
She wears what Feyre could only guess through the light is a light pink puffy dress. Elain is smiling as if the world is filled with a never ending sunlight.
Across from her stands Lucien. He has a ‘devil may care’ smirk on his face and is wearing a simple shirt and pants.
Between them, is what Feyre could only guess is their string. Yet it shines so brightly it seems impossible to tell what color it is. But what Feyre knows is that it’s attached to Elain. And if she was right, someone or something, was going to cut their string.
And Feyre did not want to see what would happen if it did.
By the sheer luck of surprise Feyre manages to break free from Rhysand’s grip and runs toward Elain and Lucien. She is unsure what she will do when she reaches it. How she will stop whoever or whatever it is that are cutting these strings. But Feyre was going to do everything in her power to stop it.
Feyre reaches out; her hand barely touches Elian’s shoulder when the world begins to scream. And Feyre wakes up.
Air rushes into Feyre’s lungs as she sits up in bed. In, out, in, out. Breathe, Feyre needed to breath she looks around the room and her eyes slowly begin to adjust to the darkness around her.
Feyre was home, she was not in the abyss, and the screaming was Nyx (hungry for his nightly feeding.
Rhysand groans beside her and shifts around until the pillow covers his head. Typical. Feyre rolls her eyes fondly and gets out of bed to tend to her screaming infant.
It takes a while but Feyre managed to get all of Nyx’s needs met and she collapses into the rocking chair. Nyx was feeling extra clingy and was sleeping against her chest, her heartbeat seeming to be the only thing that calms him.
As she rocks back and forth, trying to prevent herself from falling asleep, Feyre thinks over the nightmare. Every time she had been in the abyss it had never shown her that. The voice would always laugh, scream, and taunt until Feyre woke in terror. But this, she wasn’t quite sure what to make of it.
Then again it was just a nightmare. Perhaps she was looking too much into it. Yet something nagged at the back of Feyre’s mind that it was much more than that.

Never the Right Time
•🩶💋🦇🍂•
Summary: Living as a single mother in Velaris was difficult but at least she had her family, the inner circle, but the trauma of living under the mountain still lays heavy on her heart, the nights she shared with an heir of the autumn court by force of amarantha leading to the creation of her daughter, will she find love? Was she ever loved? Maybe her childhood best friend will show her
Pairings: Azriel x f!reader, Eris x f!reader
•Masterlist•

I was never meant to go to the party, I was suppose to have a girls night with Mor but Rhys was feeling anxious and asked me to come along and I’d do anything for my brother after everything he’s done for me
After our mother, sister and father passed we were there for eachother, holding eachother as we wept, Azriel and Cassian doing everything they could to cheer us up in their own ways, I cherished my little family but that night under the mountain changed everything
I was played out to be a gathering of high lords and their guests but she tricked us, Amarantha ruined so many lives, she took my brother away from me for 50 years as her own personal play thing and I was banned from speaking to him, thankfully we could communicate through thoughts, but seeing him break slowly was a different pain
Over the years amarantha became more cruel, she picked me and Eris Vanserra, the eldest of the leader of Autumn court, to have forced intimacy knowing his past with my family, she thought it was funny, night after night forcing us to be together while she watched, many tears were shed between the two of us and I guess along the way we bonded over the trauma, after everytime we’d apologize to eachother profusely even though we both knew it wasn’t either of eachothers fault
But when Feyre my lovely sister in law came and saved everyone I thought maybe Eris would want to keep in contact and help eachother being the only two to know what we felt but the night everyone left he was gone not even a word and at that moment I felt a strange tug in my chest, like I lost something
Rhys took us home after his talk with Feyre, our family swarming us immediately, Feyre came into our lives shortly after, Rhys had her and she had him to grow past what happened under that wretched mountain but I was lost, so many nights feeling like dirt until a month after during a cold night in Velaris I felt shadows swirling along my body holding me like a hug
•Flashback•
“You know I’ve always loved these little guys” I whispered knowing Azriel was stood behind me on the balcony
“You need to leave this room angel” his calm but rough voice soothed my soul for a moment until those feelings of disgust came crawling back
“I can’t Az, I feel like scum what she made me do and now…….” My heart felt like led
“What? You know I’ve always been there for you, I remember when you feel and scraped your knee when you were so little chasing after cas and I, but I came back to you and wiped your tears, and I’m here for you know” he said his scared fingers tracing through mine
“She made me do terrible things az, she thought it would be funny since the family and Eris have bad blood……..she forced us to have sex night after night for 40 years Az, I felt so wrong and Eris is the only one who knows what that felt like and I haven’t heard from him since and now…..now I’m pregnant” I gasped finally letting it all out
His face shocked, the first time I’ve ever seen him express so much emotion
“Oh angel, it’s gonna be okay, whatever happens I’m here” and that’s when I felt alive again, a golden string of love connected between us, my best friend
“My Mate”
•Present•
It’s been a year since then, Mor was over the moon to find out, Cass acted like a teenage girl all giddy for his brother, and Rhys was so proud of both of us, but when they all heard my story and finding out about my pregnancy they supported me, and now I have a beautiful little girl, turns out I was 5 months along when Madja checked on me the day after I told Azriel
So now Azriel and i are raising the cutest little girl, her hair as fiery as autumn, her eyes a deep purple like Rhys’ and mine, she’s everything I ever wanted but I’ve had this nagging feeling that Eris is out there and doesn’t know he has a daughter, even though Azriel stood up and took that fatherly role
I was sat in the living room of the house of wind watching Harlow crawl around and giggle at Azriels little shadows, ever since I had Harlow I felt more at home up here and so me and Azriel permanently moved in, it’s been a smooth year with him, he helped me heal as best he could, he went from my mysterious, quiet best friend, to my mate that used every chance he could to touch me either hugging me, running his hands through my hair, rubbing my belly, telling me every second he could how much he loved me or how beautiful I am, I never thought I’d see that side of him but I felt amazing to be the only one to receive his love
“She’s just like you, that’s why the shadows love her” Azriel whispers in my ear as I lay my head on his shoulder
“She’s like you too you know, she’s a little grump when she doesn’t have me around” hearing his laugh rumble under me made my heart swell
It was silent for a while more until Harlow crawled into my lap and fell asleep, her little blue dress sparkling from the fire shimmering in front of us
“I can hear your thoughts screaming from a mile away what’s got you so distressed Angel?” His eyes pierced into mine like he could read every bit of me
“Don’t be upset…….you know I know that you’re Harlows father and I’m lucky enough to have had you with me through everything but…..there’s this nagging feeling in my chest that Eris doesn’t know, that if I don’t tell him I’ll be letting her down and in the future she’ll wonder why she has her red hair and how she was created and I’d be robbing Eris of a pure love that is a child, he’s not cruel Az, not like how the rest of Prythian sees him, he’s kind and selfless………what do you think?” I chewed on my lip anxiously waiting for him to answer not being able to read what he was feeling
He tucked some hair behind my ear holding my cheek tenderly
“I think you’re right, she’s brought so much joy into my life I never thought I’d experience, who am I to stop you from giving our little girl the love and life she deserves, even if I don’t fully trust Eris I trust you”
“I love you Azriel”
“I love you y/n, more than all the stars in Velaris”
Thankfully the next day Rhys had to go have a highlords meeting in the autumn court and it was a perfect moment to try and find Eris and tell him everything
I dressed Harlow in an emerald green dress that had a sparkly black strap around the middle, I wore a ankle length silk dress a dark grey with a black shoulder covering
“Are you ready my lovely sister and adorable niece?” Rhys asked smiling from the doorway of the nursery, it was so nice to see him smile after what he went through
“I guess as ready as I’ll ever be, I’m nervous Rhys” sucking in an anxious breath, all these feelings I’ve been holding in since under the mountain and all the questions gone unanswered when I needed Eris
“Oh my little star, it’ll be okay, one way or another everything will work out” I sighed picking up Harlow as Rhys wrapped his arms around us both in a warm hug
“Okay im ready”
The air was suddenly crisp with a chill nipping at my exposed skin, the light breeze blowing my hair back as the leave rustled along our feet
“You can open your eyes” Rhys chuckled
“Sorry I’ll never get use to that……..well I guess it’s now or never” we both walked into the Vanserra Mansion, maids leading me one way as guards led Rhys another to the meeting
“Umm excuse me is Eris free by any chance?” I asked the maid infront of me
“I’ll check on master Eris, please wait in the library miss” she smiled as she motioned to the two big oak doors to the left of the hall
I always found comfort in reading, many lonely night trying to escape in the words of the pages, but then Azriel became my mate and nothing could compare to the fantasy and romance he gave me
Pushing inside it was huge, walls upon walls covered with books it was beautiful, noticing a comfy burnt orange couch placed infront of the burning chimney I sat down laying Harlow down in her blanket infront of me as she had fallen asleep, she really is the light of my life even if the way she was created was under horrific circumstances I still love her
I hear the doors open behind me and the room gets warmer and I know it’s Eris, after 40 years of being with him I just know
I stood turning to him standing tall gathering as much courage as I could, his pants a dark brown his vest a deep burgundy embroidered in gold thread, finally meeting his eyes
“Eris”
He gasped starring at me almost stunned
“Eris are you okay?” He finally shook out of whatever daze he was in and that stoic expression was back on
“Y/n it’s been a while, wasn’t expecting to see you” he said holding his hands behind his back
“Why did you leave me Eris?” Just jumping right in was all I could think of, might as well get this over with
“What?” He asked suddenly shocked again
“40 years, she made us do things for 40 years and then we were free and you didn’t even stay to atleast say goodbye, I needed you Eris you were the only one who could understand I looked for you but you were gone…..I spent so many sleepless nights just wanting to talk to you” the emotions were finally spilling out to the person I’ve been craving to talk to
“I’m……I’m so sorry my dear I just….i couldn’t bare to say goodbye, to know that after everything you’d just finally be gone so I thought if I never said goodbye maybe we’d find our way back to eachother again” he sighed showing that emotional side to me like he always did under the mountain
“Maybe things would’ve been different but that’s not the only reason I’m here Eris, I didn’t find out until a while after I got back to Velaris and then coming to terms with the decisions of coming here but……just come over here” a lump forming in my throat not being able to say the words, confused he rounds the coach now facing me and Harlow, picking her up I sat he gently in my lap as I eased back down onto the cozy couch
He dropped to his knees infront of us his one hand gripping my knee as the other gently traced Harlows rosy cheek
“She’s mine” it wasn’t a question it was a statement, anyone that knew our story knew that she was biological his
“She’s beautiful isn’t she” my heart settling
“Lovely” he was completely awe struck
She started stirring blinking open her big eyes instantly giggling when she sees Eris
“She has your eyes and your smile”
“Her name is Harlow, Azriel thought it was perfect” his movement stopped as he looked at me tearing his eyes from our giggling little girl
“And what reason did he have to name my child”
“Eris please don’t be like that with me, you have no idea how hard it was to go through being pregnant and lost but he was there for me he’s my best friend and……he’s my mate”
“What? No that’s impossible”
“How is it impossible, I know mates are rare but is it so wrong for me to have found happiness?” I sigh looking back down at Harlow as she plays with Eris’ fingers
“Just forget it, I’m coming back to Velaris with you, father can not know about you or Harlow, I need to make sure you’re okay”
“Are you sure? You don’t have to pretend you want to be apart of our lives if you don’t want to I’d understand”
“No im coming I need to be there I don’t care if Azriel is your mate I want to be apart of both your lives and protect you from Baron” he smiled brushing my hair back making my heart jump
“Okay you can come but don’t go starting trouble with Azriel please” he smirked
“I’ll try my dear”
We winnowed back home to Velaris, Rhys wasn’t very happy about the decision to bring Eris back with us but he’d do anything for me he always has
I gently laid Harlow down in her crib as to not wake her from her nap after her feeding when I felt shadows swirl around my ankles making a sense of calm set over my body
“Mother above I’ve missed you Az” I sighed turning to see him leaning against the door frame
“How did it go?” He asked stepping closer as he placed his scarred hands on my hips
“Better than I thought but I still feel like somethings unresolved, he already loves her though who wouldn’t” at that he smiled
“Of course he would she takes after you” but I know the next thing I say will wipe that smile away
“He’s here…….he said he wanted to come back here for a while to protect us from baron”
“I know can’t say I’m too happy about him being here but I know the past baron has with people involved with his children and I’ll take that extra protection for you both even if it’s Eris”
“Wow I never thought thee shadow singer would be agreeing with me” came Eris at the door way
Azriel growled as he turned glaring daggers at Eris
“Please don’t fight at least not while I’m here I can’t take it right now” I pleaded already feeling a headache coming on
Both their expressions calmed as they looked at me with the same expression……..Love and that’s when I felt it, the same spark I have for my beloved Azriel was now singing for Eris too, making me gasp and clench my chest
“No” Azriel gasped as he pulled me into his chest
“This doesn’t make any sense” I whisper
“How do you think I felt when I find my mate and she tells me she’s already mated” Eris sighs
“Azriel I’m sorry I still love you this doesn’t change anything……oh mother above I don’t know what to do” I panic scared I’ll lose everything I’ve tried to build and heal from
No body said anything making the panic set in more mixing with nausea, I pushed past Eris in the door way and went straight to Rhys and Feyre
Tears were now streaming freely as I pushed open their bedroom door, they looked at me immediately swarming me with worry
“Y/n my star what’s wrong what’s going on?” Rhys asked as he sat me down on the bench at the end of their bed, Feyre sitting next to me as she rubbed my back soothingly
“Eris……I don’t understand it’s not possible Rhys, and what if Azriel doesn’t want me anymore what if I lose everything oh I’m gonna be sick” I gasp breathing quickly
“Shhhhhh you need to breathe and tell me what happened did Eris hurt you?” He asks brushing my hair back from my face
“Maybe somethings wrong with me maybe the mother made a mistake what if neither of them want me”
“What are you trying to say honey” Feyre says calmly
“Two…….how can I have two mates” they became like statues at my words
“What? I’ve never heard of that happening in all my life” Rhys says squeezing my knee
“Do you think Azriel hates me now, what if I’m disgusting to him now and he leaves me and Harlow what if he never wanted me in the first place and he would’ve never loved me if it weren’t for the mating bond” I continued spiraling
“That would never happen Angel” Azriels voice rings from the door way, we all look up seeing him and Eris there looking almost as distraught as me
“We’ll give you some time” Feyre says taking Rhys’ hand and leaving the room
Azriel kneels infront of me taking my hands as Eris takes feyres spot
“I loved you long before we became mates, I loved the way you always tried to play with us as kids, how you always tried to cheer me up, how you smell like a cupcake and the way your hair shines in the sun, I’ve loved you for so long and this won’t stop that, we can figure it out because I’m never leaving you or my little girl”
“Really you mean it?” I sigh relaxing at his heart warming words
“Of course my angel, maybe the mother thought you were so special and so filled with love you were meant to have two mates to spread the joy you give” Azriel rarely got this emotional with me
“I love you Az, always” I lean down placing my forehead against his sending a jolt of love down our bond
“Not as much as I love you, forever”
The moment was interrupted by Eris clearing his throat
“I didn’t mean to cause you so much trouble my dear” he said soothingly, he always talked to me like I was fragile under the mountain and I can’t deny how he only treats me with that kindness
“It’s not your fault anymore than it is mine, just give this time for me to figure out how I feel”
“Of course I’d give you all the time in the world my dear……..I’ll go check on Harlow” he said as he placed a gentle kiss to my cheek before leaving me and Azriel alone
“You know I could go to that bakery you love and get you your favorite cookies”
“You read my mind”

Unspoken Love
~ Eris Vanserra X Fem!Reader
Summary: All the ways in which Eris shows you he loves you.
Warnings: Fluffy goodness. Nudity (non-sexual). Period cramps.
Notes: This is for everyone who just longs to see Eris happy and in love (and more specifically for @searchingforbucky because I never would have written this if it wasn’t for you)
A Hopeless Prince
Eris had a silver tongue.
Centuries of speaking in court allowing him to become a master at crafting words. The Autumn Prince blessed with the gift of bending truths and delivering commands as though they were the sweetest poetry.
And yet, despite his eloquence in speech, Eris had one problem.
A cursed inability to voice his feelings.
It was a skill the red-haired prince had never required, a mask of cool indifference being the best item a male could wear in court. Emotions were a weakness that Eris couldn't allow himself to have on display, not in Autumn.
Until he met you. Then suddenly and all at once Eris found himself a victim to his own heart's desire.
A single look, that was all that was needed for Eris Vanserra to fall in love. One look and the male was certain he had found his equal.
Yet despite the instantaneous nature of his feelings for you, Eris found his tongue locked in your presence. The three words which he so longed to tell you caged within the confines of his mouth.
Eris loved you.
An all consuming love in which the heat of his desire burned brighter than any inferno he could muster with his own palms. And yet he still couldn't find the words to tell you this. But despite his inability to voice his emotions, Eris fought against his insecurities to make sure he let you know the depths of his feelings in other ways.
He made sure to tell you with the soothing tea he made for you each morning. With the gentle kiss he always laid upon your cheek as you stirred from your slumber. He made sure you knew with his sweet compliments and admiring eyes as he soaked in your radiant beauty for as long as you would allow.
Eris loved you.
He only hoped that one day he would be able to tell you this himself.
A Comforting Presence
Time was a scarce luxury for you and Eris.
Between his courtly duties and your equally busy schedule, quality time together was a rare sight.
Whenever you managed to find a moment of peace, free from your responsibilities and ready to devote all of your attention to the Autumn Prince, Eris always had the rotten luck of being called away to another task.
Which is why you often found yourself in this position; tucked away in a hidden area of the library, curled up with a good book whilst you waited for Eris to finish his daily obligations. The books you read acting as a blissful escape from the usually restless bustle of the Autumn Court.
It was all to easy for you to hide from reality between the inked pages. To allow your mind to freely wander amongst the stories while the time slowly passed until you could see Eris again. Working your way through Autumn's large expanse of literature as each day came and went.
So it was no wonder how in your dream-like trance you didn't notice the watchful figure admiring you from afar. It took three attempts of Eris softly clearing his throat before he was able to capture your attention and draw your gaze from the book in your hands. Tensing, your alarmed eyes swiftly flew towards the source of the sound, your muscles relaxing upon seeing the familiar face of your lover.
You took the time to admire Eris where he stood, shameless eyes raking over his well-defined figure before coming to a stop at the stack of documents which were clutched tightly in his hands.
"Another meeting?" you quietly ask with a sad smile, assuming that Eris had only dropped by for a short respite and a quick hello before he needed to return to his obligations.
Eris approached you, placing a delicate kiss onto your temple before moving to sit down in the armchair beside you. "Actually," he started, the low rumble of his voice cutting through the silence of the library, "I thought I might finish off my work here, if that is alright with you of course?"
You didn't fail to miss the light dusting of redness which blossomed on Eris's cheeks, nor the embarrassed edge to his tone as he spoke. Worried that the male would allow his insecurities to take control, you stretched out your hand to entwine it with his own, locking together your fingers as your thumb moved to rub soothing circles into his skin.
"I'd love nothing more" you answered honestly, squeezing his hand in reassurance.
The two of you sat in a peaceful silence, Eris beginning to work through his papers and you picking up your story from where you left off. Yet despite your different activities your hands remained placed in each other's, Eris placing the occasional kiss onto the back of your own whenever he sat back to ponder over what he was writing.
The two of you didn't speak; you didn't need to. Not when the comfort of each other's company was enough. It could have been hours until words were exchanged between you once more, the silence broken by a gasp escaping from your lips as you reached an exciting part of your story. Intrigued, Eris looked over to where you were sat.
"What is it?" he asked, straining his neck to peer over and try and catch a glimpse of your book. Interested eyes flashing over to your own wide ones.
"Nothing, sorry! Something big just happened, I'll try to stay quiet" you promised, afraid that if you were to disturb Eris from his work he would leave to finish it elsewhere.
Eris slowly nodded in acknowledgement, turning back to his papers to continue his writings, and yet it was impossible to stop his amber eyes from travelling back to your face. Brows knitting together as he took in the bright glint in your eye and the curling of your lips as you read.
Needing to satisfy his curiosity, Eris asked you once more, "What is it? What are you smiling at?"
"Shouldn't you be working?" you teased, noting the nosy way in which the Autumn Prince was trying to snoop at the page you were reading.
"Work can wait" he huffed, snatching the book from your hands, "I'm more interested in what's going on in that pretty little mind of yours."
And as you sat in Eris's lap, happily chatting away as his work laid unfinished and forgotten, the male promised himself he would always make time for you. Because no job, nor meeting, would ever be more important than getting to see you smile.
A Helping Hand
A groan of frustration tore from your lips as you entered your shared chambers. Distressed eyes meeting the teasing stare of your amused lover who was sprawled across the bed, no doubt having been waiting for your arrival.
A soft chuckle leaving Eris's lips at the sight of your disheveled form, "Difficult day, Little Fox?"
Having finally reached the sanctuary of your room, the weight of the days trials finally settled as your eyes began to uncomfortably sting with tears. Noticing your crumbling composure, Eris swiftly made his way over from the bed to where you were stood, gentle hands coming to rest against your cheeks as his searching eyes scanned over your frame.
Your appearance clearly worrying him as the male immediately pulled you into a crushing embrace.
Face now pressed into the exposed skin of Eris's chest where the top of his shirt was splayed open, you allowed yourself to deeply inhale the familiar scent of your partner. The smell of him alone enough to bring you the comfort you needed. The Autumn Prince held your tears at bay, both by the gentle caress of his hands against your body and the soothing murmurings of solace he offered you.
It was only when your breathing steadied, and the irregular pounding of your heart had subsided, did Eris then allow himself to pull away. "Do you want to talk about it?" Eris asked tentatively, lifting a tender hand to brush a stray piece of hair behind your ear, "Or would you just like me to take care of you?"
Your heart lovingly ached at the male's compassion, his words the same ones you recite to him each time he comes back to your chambers forlorn and dejected after a difficult day.
"Will you take care of me?" you asked your prince, a single tear falling down your cheek. Not at the expense of your terrible day, but at the overwhelming surge of empathy swimming in your lover's eyes.
"Always" Eris replied, kissing away your lonely tear.
The Autumn Prince needn't be told what to do; silently leading you to the bed with a promise of returning.
You waited patiently for the male as he prepared your bath, the male filling the tub with an assortment of luxurious oils and healing salts. It was only when Eris was satisfied with the temperature of the steaming water, did he then return to carry you into the bathroom.
Eris's hands worked to aid you in unlacing the corset of your dress before he gathered the silk of the slip underneath to help remove it from your exhausted frame. Once free from the confines of your clothing, Eris supportively held your hand as he carefully assisted you in getting into the bath. Allowing you to adjust to the temperate waters before moving behind you to wash your hair.
Eris had the hands of a prince, smooth and unscarred, free from the marks of labor. Yet despite the polished nature of his nimble fingers, they worked wonders whilst running through your dampened hair and massaging your aching scalp. Each gentle rub as he worked the pine scented soap into your hair being enough to draw sounds of contented pleasure from your lips.
Your love was an expert at knowing what you needed, and as he worked to was the pollutant worried of the day gone by from your skin, Eris filled your ears with light-hearted stories of his own day.
It wasn't long before the sweet sound of laughter filled the room, memories of your sour day long forgotten as you merrily conversed with your partner.
The only thing that mattered in this moment of time was him.
And as your eyes caught Eris periodically sinking his hands into the lukewarm water to rise its temperature to an adequate level, you knew there was no one else in the world you would rather have take care of you. No man that you would rather love.
A Treasured Gift
Life with Eris meant you needn't want for anything.
He made sure to spoil you with more dresses than you would ever need and your collection of jewels had grown so large they now spilled from the box you kept them in.
But your favourite gift you had received from Eris wasn't the diamond encrusted tiara he had given you for your birthday, nor the prize mare he had surprised you with on the anniversary of your relationship.
No, the best gift Eris had ever given you was his mind, scrawled between the pages of a book. . .
Your lover's nerves were almost tangible as he approached, hands hidden behind his back as he slowly stalked in your direction. Low whispers of self-encouragement upon his lips as he set his determined eyes on you.
It was unusual, to see the usually confident male blanching in your presence, all colour drawn from his usually lifeful cheeks. Eris’s foot tapping restlessly against the floor when he finally came to a stop before you.
You made to greet your prince with a kiss, but Eris's shaky words interrupted your action. "I have something for you" he said, offering you an anxious smile as your brows raised in surprise, thoughts racing as you desperately tried to remember whether this day held any important significance that you had forgotten.
Noting your panicked expression Eris immediately blurted, "It's nothing big! Just something small I've been working on for you."
Eris was slow to draw his hands from behind his back, nervous eyes meeting your curious ones as you took in what he was holding.
"A book?" you asked, taking it from his slightly trembling hand in order to cast your inspecting gaze of the cover. Tales of the heart. Your favourite story.
A book you have read over a dozen times before. So why would Eris gift you a copy of a book you already owned? Sure your copy was tattered and well loved, but did it really require a replacement?
Ever the perceptive male, Eris inhaled deeply before explaining the reasoning of his gift, "I know I'm not the best at voicing how I feel. . . So I thought you could read it instead."
His expectant eyes urged you to open the book, so you did just that.
Peeling back the cover, you were greeted with Eris's familiar penmanship, the black ink which marked the page curling into words which made your heart swell:
You are my everything, nothing more and nothing less.
With watery eyes you eagerly flicked through the book, breath catching in your throat as you observed the ink covered pages. Eris had underlined all his favourite passages, each one accompanied by scribbles of his comments and opinions, the margins overflowing with carefully worded text.
Here in your hands you held a window into Eris's soul. His emotions laid bare across each page, exposing his mind and sharing his thoughts.
This little book, which fit snugly into the palm of your hand, was an offering. An invitation to get to know the male better, to understand Eris in his entirety.
Finding yourself lost for words you did the only thing you could do, pulling the Autumn Prince into a heated kiss of appreciation. Arms flying around his neck in an attempt to draw him in closer, doing your best to pour every ounce of love and praise into each gentle caress of your lips against his.
Anticipation growing in your chest at the prospect of delving into the book later on in the day, eagerly awaiting your exploration of Eris Vanserra’s mind.
A Heated Touch
You were in agony.
Bound to your bed, wallowing in your own misery as you clutched onto your abdomen with the hope of quelling the rising tide of pain.
It was that time of the year, your aching body signaling the unwelcome arrival of your cycle.
Eris had been reluctant to leave you this morning, worried about your ability to take care of yourself. Despite wanting nothing more than to spend the day wrapped in the loving arms of your partner, you half-heartedly pushed him from your bed, knowing the male had an abundance of dull meetings to attend today.
Yet now as you laid under your covers, curled into a ball as you miserably absorbed each aching stab of pain, you wished that you had never sent Eris away. Your suffering only increasing as the hours passed by.
You would search for your lover if you could, call him from his meetings and draw him back to your bed, but with a head like cotton and a body like lead you had no choice but to lay with your torturous discomfort in solitude.
Though thankfully, Eris had other plans. Unsatisfied with leaving his partner to suffer alone during her cycle, he had spent the morning postponing his meetings and delegating his work elsewhere. Anxiously wishing away the time until he was able to return to his chambers and take care of you.
Wasting no time once the rearrangement of his tasks had been completed, hurrying to the kitchen to make you a healing cup of medicinal tea before making his way to your shared room.
Opening the door to find you exactly where he had left you, huddled under the covers and eyes tightly closed as you tried to wait out wave after wave of pulsating pain.
Heart clenching at the sight of you in agony, Eris uttered curses to the gods for bestowing you with a pain that he could not fix. Sympathy flooding into his eyes as he came to sit by your side, raising a comforting hand to brush against your cheek and pull you from your fitful slumber.
"My poor Little Fox" he empathetically cooed, leaning down to kiss the tip of your nose as you stirred from your sleep. Eyes blinking open, a weak smile graced your lips as the welcoming sight of your lover greeted you.
"Is there anything I can do?" he asked, brows furrowing at the wince which crossed your face as you turned your body to face him better.
"Will you hold me?" you pouted lamely, tears threatening to fall now your partner was here to comfort you.
"Of course" Eris answered, needing no further instruction as he moved to climb into the bed behind you, arms reaching out across the sheets to pull you towards him until your back pressed against his chest. A pained whimper drawing from your lips as he did so, Eris cursing himself for bringing you more anguish.
"May I try something?" Eris asked, seeking your permission for what he was about to do. Nausea building in your throat, you feebly nodded. What was the worse that could happen when you already felt like death itself?
Careful not to disturb you too much, Eris snaked his hands around your middle, moving them down towards your aching abdomen before allowing his hands to gradually heat to a bearable temperature.
A deep breath of satisfaction escaped from your lips at his heated touch. The ghost of Eris's flames working to quell your pain and soothe your aching.
"You are never leaving my side again" you giggled in relief, bringing your hands to rest against his own in the hope of absorbing each remnant of heat which Eris provided you with.
"That is something we can agree on" Eris purred, drawing you into his embrace further still, warm lips brushing against your neck as he continued, "There is nowhere else I would rather be."
And as Eris watched you fall into a blissful slumber, contented smiles resting upon each of your faces, the Autumn Prince could have sworn that the three words he so longed to tell you were patiently waiting on the tip of his tongue.
A Lover's Vow
It had taken you weeks to read through Eris's gift. Having opted to take the time to appreciate each little comment your partner had scribbled onto the pages.
Each word you read opening your eyes to a new side of the Autumn Prince, showing you glimmers of a male that felt and felt deeply. Every new thing you learnt about your lover working to crack the mask which he so often wore.
Now reaching the end of your story you didn't want it to end. You wanted - no needed- to learn everything you could about the male, feeling as though this gift had only scratched the surface when it came to introducing you to the mystery that was Eris Vanserra.
You had laughed, you had cried, and now turning to finish the final page you only longed to experience it all again.
Your curiosity would never be satisfied, not when it came to Eris.
Why is why you were pleasantly surprised, that when the final words had been read, a sealed letter which had been hidden between the pages dropped into your lap. The crimson ink which adorned the envelope staring right back at you as your wide eyes took in the message that was addressed to you.
Your happy ending, Little Fox.
You weren't sure why your heart had stopped at the sight of the letter, nor were you able to explain why your hands trembled nervously as you tore open the paper. Shaking as you removed the note which had been neatly tucked inside.
Pearlescent tears began to fall down your blushing cheeks as you read Eris's words, failing to even finish the letter before you had jumped on your feet and began to run.
You were unsure of where you were heading, but the one thing you were certain of was that Eris would be at the end of it. The letter now crumpled within your tight grip as you ran, afraid to let it go and lose the words which you had been so desperate to hear.
So you didn't stop, allowing your feet to carry you towards Eris, towards your answers. Only slowing down to catch your breath when you saw your partner outside, leading his horse back to the stables through the torrential rain.
Uncaring of the fact your clothes were not appropriate for the miserable weather, you closed the distance between you and the male. Mud splashing at your calves as you rushed towards him.
Eris didn't fail to miss your sodden figure running towards him, eyes blowing wide in alarm at your sudden appearance. Worried for your sanity, he immediately dropped the reins from his hands as he ran to meet you halfway.
"What are you doing?" he exclaimed, concerned eyes taking in the sorry state of your wild appearance, the male moving to grip your arm and move you towards shelter but not before you had forcefully ripped your arm from his hold.
"Is it true?" you asked, your silver tears mixing with the cooling rain which was beating against your flushed face.
"Is what true?" Eris cried, brows knitted together in confusion until his gaze dropped to the letter clutched tightly in your hand and then suddenly it all made sense.
"Yes. . ." he weakly replied after a moment, his surprise at your unexpected appearance having stolen his words.
"You love me?" you pressed further, taking a step closer to your anxious partner, lifting your fist which held the now sodden letter, "What you wrote, do you mean it?"
Eris scoffed at the ridiculous nature of your question, "Mean it? Of course I mean it, I wouldn't write it if I didn't."
"Say it" you ordered, "Please. I need to hear you say it."
The old Eris would have walked away, ignored your demands and fought against his tempestuous emotions. He would have never been able to express how he felt, unable to allow the words to escape from his lips.
Yet with one look at you, saturated hair clinging to your cheeks as you looked towards the male in desperation, Eris could feel his mask slipping. The stone veil falling from his face before it dropped to the ground and shattered.
And for the first time in your life you were staring at the true face of Eris Vanserra.
Tears streaming down his face as he allowed the wave of his once hidden emotions to crash over him.
"I love you" he confessed, burning stare meeting your own, "gods I love you."
A delighted laugh broke from the males lips as the weight of his confession lifted from his chest, hands flying to your smiling cheeks as the truth of his affections continued to flow, "Mind, body, soul, I'm yours. All of me. Mask or no mask, I have always belonged to you. I love you so much, and I'm so sorry I couldn't tell you this sooner."
"But I knew, Eris" you cried along with your partner, the heated touch of his warming palms enough to burn your tears away as they came, "Even though you never said it aloud I always knew, because you showed it to me in every way that counts. You have never failed to make me feel anything but loved."
"And do you?" he asked through heavy breaths, "Do you feel the same for me as I do for you?"
"Eris Vanserra" you beamed up at the male before you, eyes glistening as you absorbed the rawness of his heartfelt expression, " I have loved you since before I ever even knew you, and I always will. My heart belongs to you Eris, until my dying breath."
Unable to stop the sob which tore from his lips, Eris allowed himself to cry, arms coming to wrap around your middle in a crushing embrace as he sought to stabilize his trembling frame.
"I think I'm going to need a new letter" you mumbled into his chest, the ruined piece of paper having fallen to the rain-soaked ground in the midst of your embrace.
"I'll write you a thousand more if that's what you want" Eris promised, lips coming to softly press against you head as his tears subsided, "But I think I'd rather tell you how I feel from now on."
"I'd like that" you replied staring up at the male you loved so dearly, "I'd like that very much."

Eris Vanserra
Through a combination of spite and wanting to write out my feelings, I've created this slice of tragedy. Thank @fell-in-luvs for putting the idea in my head.
Trigger warnings- Domestic violence, physical abuse, mild thoughts of suicide, implied self-harm.
Head between his knees, hands over his ears. Just keep breathing.
Porcelain smashed against the ground, and he heard her screaming. Just keep breathing.
He yelled at her, voice reverberating through the hallways.
She screamed at him, still young, still unknowing of what pain it would cause, to never raise his voice at her.
Then she screamed, she screamed in pain and Eris sobbed into his knees. His small, red face, wet with tears. On wobbling knees, barely big enough to open the door he had been sitting beside, he reached up and pulled down the door handle. The glistening gold burning from fire leaping under his skin. The five-year-old threw the heavy wood open with all the strength in his body.
She was thrown across the wooden floors of the bedroom, crying so loudly as blood poured from her nose, and her eyes swelled from a bruise now blooming. Beron reeled his fist back, screaming at her disrespect, at her insolence.
Eris screamed, the boy leapt at his father, flames sparking on his hands, “Stop!”
He hit his fathers legs as his lungs burned for air. The continuous chant of begging and demanding pouring from his hoarse throat, “Stop! Stop! Stop!”
Even with all the fire he found within himself, Beron grabbed his short red hair and threw him down to the ground. Eris cried as the air whooshed from his lungs, he gasped and gasped, but his throat refused to allow any oxygen within.
“See what you’ve taught him, you fucking whore!” Beron screamed at his wife.
She cried, arms trembling as they tried to lift her from the ground, but it was of no use as her husband descended upon her again. Fist pulling back, a scream and the cracking of bone as he met her jaw again and again.
“Let her go! Let her go!” Eris shrieked. A bruise appeared on his face as a red mark. He was shaking until it was so hard to so much as walk, he tried to rush at Beron again. But the male pulled up a wall of fire that scorched Eris’s hands and face.
Eris screamed and threw up across the floors. Darkness edged in his vision and he looked up to see the image of his mother, bawling as she bleed and bleed. She begged and pleaded, but Beron’s hand wasn’t merciful.
“Stop it! Please stop it!” Eris cried from the floor.
He remembered the light of the moon from that night. How it shone in through the large glass windows, all shut and locked. He remembered how it shimmered across his mother’s blood smeared across the floor.
Eris blinked the images away, forcing his eyes back to what he was seeing. His mother stared into her food, hands neatly folded in her lap. Beron howled with laughter, and the sudden laugh caused both to flinch suddenly. Though Eris’ was far less noticeable.
With no eyes on them, with every courtier at the dining hall preoccupied with sucking up to Beron. No one at any particular spot, as the formalities had been forgotten after the thirteenth bottle of wine had been opened.
Eris reached out, hands gentle and calloused, they just managed to brush the back of his mother’s hand. The six-year-old that begged for his father’s hands to keep off his mother’s skin peeking through.
But this was no longer the woman that remembered her own will. This was no longer the woman who braided flowers into his hair at celebrations, and she was no longer the woman who patched his knees when he fell off his horse.
She pulled away from his fingers so abruptly a nearby lady looked over. Quickly her eyes turned back to Beron’s sneering grin.
“Mother-” The word slipped from his throat before he could stop it.
“You’re just like him.” His mother hissed.
Eris stared.
Not one of his father’s hits, not one of his words, or training, had ever…
Punched him as hard as that.
“Mother-” His voice cracked, breathing was hard again.
He was back on the floor, without air in his lungs, he was back in that bedroom. He saw her behind that wall of fire again.
“You are just like him.” She said again.
Her flaming russet eyes looked up to see him. They burned. They burned with a hatred so bright, Eris flinched again.
Those words held words, words that stung more than ones she actually voiced. ‘Go on, tell him I am willing to defy you.’
“Please-”
He wanted to sob. He wanted to run into the arms of his mother in a field of grass under the protection of oaks and Autumn leaves. He wanted her to look at him and smile.
‘Please.’
‘Please, I’m still your baby boy, aren’t I?’
“Please-”
“I hate you.”
Beron standing over her, tears streaming down her face as she cried and begged.
Eris felt his father’s leg underneath his hands again as he tried to burn the male.
I hate you.
You’re just like him.
Just like him. Just like him. Just like him. Just like him.
“Eris!” Beron boomed. Eris’ head snapped up and his face fell into the mask of false respect and bitter smirks.
“Yes, Father?” The words had the slightest of shakes to them. Not enough that anyone noticed. No one would ever notice.
“Come join the head of the table, my boy! Lord Entrice has some news to share.” Beron had such a sadistic glint in his eyes.
Run, every bone in his body said so. He didn’t feel safe. He wasn’t safe. He was never safe.
Eris stood and beside him, his mother huffed a laugh. His eyes snapped to her once again, and there she stared at the meal before her, but he saw her hating eyes, and her smirk, ‘Go suck up to him.’ Was what that smirk said.
She didn’t dare lift her head to meet his eyes. Beron called again, voice beginning to border on agitated.
Just like him.
“Yes, Father.” Eris answered.
When Eris retreated to his quarters that night, he saw nothing. He felt nothing. Like his whole body was on another plane. His soul retreated to some small corner where it heard nothing. Like a child putting their hands over their ears and chanting ‘Lalalala I can’t hear you’.
He didn’t remember when he locked the door, he didn’t remember when he bathed or changed, or sat down beside the fire. He didn’t know why he was sitting on the floor and not on the lounge. He didn’t know why he was sitting so close to the flames, and he didn’t know why he was staring into them without ever looking away.
Just like him.
You’re just like him.
A smile curved on his face, even as tears welled in his eyes.
I hate you.
Then what’s left?
Lucien was gone.
His other brothers refused his help.
If his mother hated him?
What was left?
The rest of the Autumn Court, a logical voice told him, trying to pull him back from the edge. The rest of the Autumn Court would need him one day, he would have to be living for that.
The Autumn Court had survived this long, was he that necessary?
To improve their lives he was.
Was he?
Just like him.
He was just like him.
Eris didn’t remember taking a knife in his hands, and he didn’t remember holding it over the fire.
But he did remember the pricks of the blade over his arms. And he did remember the marks it left.
Just like him.
I hate you.
What was left?

Hi my love,
I’ve recently stumbled upon your ACOTAR fics, and I absolutely love the mini verses you’re creating, especially Rhys’ fic Hidden Away! I’ve seen you write up some requests, and if you are open to it, I would love to submit my own.
I know there aren’t many Eris fics out there, especially ones that dive deeper into his unexplored character, so I was wondering if you could write one?
In my head, Eris is the same stoic, narcissistic male we meet in the books. His last dispute with the Night Court leave Rhys ordering Azriel to spy on him and his affairs.
Nothing seems out of place, but then Azriel and his shadows pick up on a few things: Beron’s maltreatment, Eris’ relationship with his brothers, moments of vulnerability with the Lady of Autumn…but perhaps the biggest surprise is Eris’ late disappearances that are seemingly untraceable.
One day, Eris gets sloppy though, so Azriel is easily able to track him. Maybe the IC follows along, thinking he’s planning something. What they don’t realize is that Eris is hiding away his mate—pregnant mate, who has just gone into labor.
Between fearing for his mate and child and the Night Court’s sudden appearance, Eris’ emotions flare. And maybe, this is when Rhys offers him a Bargain that he will aid him in disposing of Beron and protect his family in exchange for his allegiance.
You are free to amend at your will in case you do decide to write it.
Thank you so much in advance for all the wonderful pieces you’re producing on here♥️
Shut up this request is SO good!! You guys are literally so freaking creative I'm blown awayyy!
YES! I can absolutely write this. Eris gives Rhysand from the first ACOTAR book. Putting on a front to look like an ass because he HAS to. He has no other choice or it's his life on the line. We'll make reader the hidden away mate. I kinda want her to be hiding in another court Day or Dawn maybe :) I'm leaning towards Dawn because we don't know much about it and Thesan.
This is going to be a long one (i know myself) so give me a few days to get this one out!

Aw my loveeeee it isn't rude! Request your little heart out <3
I've already done 4 but I'll do it again for you with a different spin on it.
Can't Keep My Hands To Myself

Modern!Eris x Reader
Summary - It's no secret that Eris has always wanted you, and now he has the perfect excuse to get up close and personal.
Warnings - slight pining, some fluff, swearing, hand fetish

The sun bounced off of the hood of Cassian's car, and if you looked closer you could have sworn you could see wisps of steam rising from the matte black finish.
Folding your arms over your chest, you huffed, already knowing what was coming as soon as you'd point out a certain problem.
It had been Elain's idea to go to the coast that day, mainly so that you could all go to the theme park that ran along the beach, all being yourself, Elain and Lucien, Nesta and Cassian, and Eris. The latter of which was leaning against the hood of Cassian's vehicle with a sly grin written on his lips, sunglasses low on his nose, and hands bundled into his pockets.
Eris Vanserra was the bane of your existence, the cocky son of some noble lord in England who had moved to your state for college and had set an unfortunate eye on you. The heir could have anyone he wanted, but he was too busy chasing you to notice.
Eris had crashed one too many of your dates, and when you had made it clear that he needed to stop being an alphahole, he would slyly quip that none of the men you allowed into your life deserved you. He would always show his face at Elain and Lucien's apartment when you were there, which made you certain that one of them, probably Lucien, was sending him updates whenever you would show up. Eris stuck to your side when the entire circle decided to go out, whether that be bowling or dinner, or even clubbing, Eris was always reluctant to leave your side.
Possessive bastard.
You had lost count of how many times exactly you had denied his advances. It wasn't that you weren't attracted to him, you'd be foolish not to be, but you didn't really fancy ensuing a relationship with a future lord, you quite liked your life the way it was.
You majored in architecture, you had always appreciated the beauty of buildings and landscapes, you had travelled Europe and spent weeks in Paris where you sketched and redesigned buildings until your heart was full and bursting with inspiration. There was nothing you couldn't create.
Life as a lady didn't appeal to you, but life as an architect travelling the world and creating masterpieces very much did.
So, you made it your mission to deter the heir in whatever way you could, from cold shoulders to harsh quips, but it only seemed to spur him on more.
Eris stood before you, red hair perfectly styled into pushed back waves, looking far too good in his black jeans and open collared black shirt, a thin chain hung around his neck which matched the bracelet on his wrist, rings littered his fingers and you found your gaze drifting to his hands, hands you had thought about often when you were alone. You imagined them running through your hair and pulling at it, you imagined them around your throat, you imagined his fingers drifting along your thighs and gripping the skin there.
It was so sinful how much you thought of Eris' hands.
The door opened behind you and you rolled your eyes at the Archeron sisters who walked ahead of both Cassian and Lucien, who both looked exhausted from their bickering already.
Unfurling your arms from your chest, you pulled down the edge of your tennis skirt and tucked in a loose section of the deep green polo you adorned, "About time," you told them, "I'm baking out here."
"I know a place that could cool you down," Eris drawled from behind you, and you turned your head slightly to see him at your shoulder, looking down on you with his usual longingly seductive eye, "You, me, the Swiss alps on skis."
"Sounds positively awful," you smiled sickly sweet at him before moving your attention elsewhere, "I also hate to state the obvious but there are only five seats in Cass' car, and there's six of us," you motioned between the circle you had all formed and shrugged.
"What if you-"
You held your hand up in front of Eris' face, shushing him into silence, "If you're really about to suggest that I sit on your lap, I will kill you."
Cassian threw his head back and laughed, a howling one that filled you with pride as he walked to the driver side of his car, "Hate to break it to you Princess, but you don't have a choice."
"Why me?! Surely it makes more sense for Elain and Lucien to cuddle up?"
Elain ticked her tongue against the roof of her mouth, flinging the passenger door open, "It's my birthday so no, plus Lucien injured his knee at baseball practice so he needs to be able to stretch it out. Sorry, Y/N," Elain wiggled her eyebrows at you and dipped into the car, no doubt securing her spot in the middle seat.
Scowling, you turned to Eris who had never looked happier, fluttering your eyes in annoyance, you pointed at him, "Don't get any ideas, Vanserra."
Eris threw his hands up in mock surrender but the smirk didn't leave his lips as he spoke, "Wouldn't dream of it, y/l/n."
It took you a few moments to become settled in his lap, and you cursed yourself for allowing yourself to be friends with bright and shiny Elain, if you hadn't then you wouldn't be sat on some heirs lap, nestled on his thighs like some kind of trophy.
As soon as you were comfortable, you propped your feet on Elain's lap which she was happy to hold since you drew the short straw, and you leaned back onto the doorframe, half on the body of the interior and half on Eris.
His scent was earthy, wafts of pine and freshly blown out matches, you knew he smelled good, but you didn't realise how much.
Eris draped one of his arms over your legs and the other around your waist, and you couldn't exactly bark at him to fuck off when they were the only two places that his hands could go. His fingers delicately danged off of your thighs, his fingertips lightly brushing against your skin with every bump in the road, the coolness of his bracelet clashing against the warmth of your skin.
If only his fingers could go a little higher, and just grab the flesh of your thigh...
No, y/n.
Elain had convinced the car to play a game, a game that you and Eris had quickly denied, you were both quite happy with the silence. That is until you felt him frown and lean over slightly to peer at something, his fingers drifted along the hem of your skirt and he lifted it slightly to take a peek.
Your gaze found him, his russet eyes darkened with intrigue, "I didn't know you had a tattoo," he hummed, allowing his eyes to trace along the swirls of black ink that created an arrangement of delicately drawn roses and geometric shapes that encased your entire hip.
Cassian's car hit a bump and you jolted on Eris' lap, his arms instinctively wrapped around you to keep you in place as your head hit the roof of the car, "Sorry, y/n. These roads are awful," Cassian apologised, one hand on the wheel and the other gripping Nesta's jeaned thigh, rubbing soft circles into the fabric whilst she idly read her book in the front passenger seat.
If that were you, your soul would no doubt be going feral.
Then you felt it, you felt his had travel from your waist to your unbound hair, he ran his fingertips along your scalp and rested his palm on the top of your head, "Are you okay?"
It took you a moment to reply, trying to control the shivers that spread in your soul like wildfire at his touch in the place you had dreamt of, "Yeah, 'm good," your tone was relaxed as he worked his fingertips into the crown of your head, kissing away any pain from the jolting force that had pushed against it.
"Do you like that?" Eris purred, and luckily no one was paying attention to either of you, Nesta was reading, Cassian was driving, and Elain and Lucien were looking out of the window of the travelling car talking about whatever animals they saw in the clouds.
"It might feel nice," you admitted bashfully, knowing you couldn't lie to the sly fox whose eyes always found you no matter how far apart you were in a room.
Eris let out a low hum, tilting his head to the side as his fingers slid from your scalp and rested on the back of your neck, "You're a touch starved little thing, aren't you?"
"No," it came out a little harder than what you had intended it to, but he wasn't wrong, especially when he was the reason that you were so touch starved and basking in his affection.
Eris chuckled, seeing straight through you as always, as his hand ghosted down your spine whilst his other found your thigh and gave it a gentle squeeze, smirking as you wiggled on his lap, "Careful sweetheart, you have no idea how close I am to losing it," his voice was a rough whisper in your ear, he knew exactly what effect he had on you.
"I can't help it."
"I know, you have no idea the effect you have on me," his finger grazed down the earring that dangled against the curve of your jaw.
"Oh?"
Eris hummed, "One date, y/n. It's all I ask."
"Eris..."
His digits slipped between your thighs and he traced circles into the skin he found there, "Just one. Let me show you the life we can live together. Please?"
You weren't sure if it was his deep tone or his hands on your body that made your mind foggy, but he had convinced your head and heart to agree. Moving your head to meet his eye, you narrowed your own and pursed your lips, "Fine. One date. Make it worth my time, Vanserra."
Eris' whisky amber eyes glistened in the sunlight, "I think you forget how well I know you sweetheart. You're not a coffee date girl, or a movie date girl, you're not a hiker either. You're a dreamer, I see you all of the time looking at the stars, I see the heavens in your art, I see the sky in your eyes. I think I know the perfect way to make sure you never entertain anyone other than me."
The confidence he radiated made your thighs clench together, an act that didn't go unnoticed by him as his eyes darkened again with desire, he licked his lips, throwing his head back as you squirmed on his thighs again and did his best to suppress the moan bubbling in his throat.
"One chance, Vanserra. Make the most of it."
Eris straightened his posture and winked at you, letting his hands roam freely over your back and thighs, "One chance is all I need."
