the bridge (8) -> part of the 101 days drabble series ; eremin

📂  Two people are walking together across a bridge. Have the story start at the foot of the bridge and end as they step off. Imagine the length of the bridge and how long it might take to get across. Write your story in the time it would take to cross the bridge (around 6 minutes) note: i hand wrote this literally 5 years ago in a notebook (hence why it's short for 6 mins of writing) i'm working hard on my various fics rn but wanted to get creative content out, so here's this itty bitty thing!

Even though Eren crossed this bridge daily to get to work, it felt like it had been years since he’d last been here. He places the blame on Armin, who is walking next to him; it wasn’t the bridge that he hadn’t seen in years, it was him.

“Do you remember when we first came here?” Armin asks.

Eren feels their hands brush as they walk, and he swallows the guilt back down. It has been two years, but it all felt like yesterday.

He nods and Armin notes his silence. He clears his throat suddenly, and then continues: “There were barely any lockets when we first came, but now, look, there’s loads!”

“Yeah.”

Armin pauses. “Do you think ours is still here?”

Yes, Eren wants to say. He looked at it every single time he came across here; it was the obnoxious yellow padlock decorated with stickers and their initials, the key floating somewhere in the river below.

“I, uh, I don’t know.”

“Well, it’s been a long time,” Armin says, and when he looks over and meet Eren's eyes, he smiles. “You probably forgot about it.”

Eren's heart sinks. “Fuck — Look, Armin, I—”

But Armin only shakes his head, laughing softly. “It’s okay. Really, it’s okay. I’m okay. It's been ages, anyway.” He smiles: “We’re okay?”

They were far from okay, too broken to even be repaired. Most separated couples were shattered and able to pick up the pieces, but Eren and Armin were totally shredded, unable to catch the pieces in the wind. 

As Armin steps down off the bridge, he looks back at Eren, a slight glimmer in his eye. Eren stares for a moment, feeling a tug in his heart.

There are so many things he wants to say — so many things he wants to put right before he quite possibly never sees Armin again. How had they gone from being together every day to being strangers, strangers with a locket that now meant absolutely nothing?

He looks between Armin's eyes, running his gaze down the bridge of his nose to his lips, but Eren forces himself to look away, feeling the lump harden in his throat. By the looks of things, Armin was doing fine without him.

Two years had passed. Armin was in a better place. Now, it was Eren's turn to heal the wound festering in his chest, even if it took him another two years to do it.

[ Eren basically is a loner without any game. He finds himself crushing over the popular girl that sits next to him in his math class and keeps passing him cute letters and notes, praying that she’ll be the one that’s going to take his virginity!]

Eren has always been a laid back kid.

He likes video games, smoking and staying out of drama.

Of course he like girls and stuff like that too, it’s just that he never really went out of his way to try and talk to them. The girls at his college are mostly not interested in him anyways since he’s kinda a loner and he’s not interested in changing anything about that…

At least that’s what he thought until he first met you. He could never forget the day you walked into his math class and sat down next to him, with a warm smile on your face and a cherry lollipop between your plump lips. He immediately noticed your pretty face and the way you smell.

He found himself so fascinated with the way your hair looked that whenever he was watching porn late at night by himself in his college dorm, he specifically looked for girls with a similar hair type. He loved talking to you just to hear your soft voice and cute giggles, but after your professor expressed multiple times that he doesn’t want you guys to distract the other students, you had to switch to exchanging small letters and notes.

At this point Eren has a whole little box full of notes that you wrote him since the beginning of the year.

Everything started off so innocent until you started flirting with him, trying to make him blush and get a reaction out of him, like the virgin whore that he was. Attending classes felt like a reward now, since he gets to spend time with you on a daily basis.

You often catch him starring at you, but you never thought much about it.

If only you knew that secretly he was wondering if you’d be able to make him nut the same way it feels like when he does it himself to your photos.

You’re not the it girl at campus but you are popular for sure. You’ve always been pretty confident, not taking shit from people and making sure that everybody knew not to play around with you. He’s truly fascinated by you and he finds himself quickly developing feelings for you.

Even his friends noticed his behavior change. Since he met you he’s daydreaming a lot more, mostly about the way that your thighs would make a perfect pillow or the cute pout you have on your lips when you don’t understand something and you have to ask him for help.

"Bruh what the fuck? Yoo Eren? Earth to Eren?"

Connie waves his hand in front of Eren's face to catch his attention.

"Huh?" Eren responds, snapping out of his hypnotic state.

"We’re asking if you’re coming to the party on Saturday?" Connie asks curiously.

"Nah I’m busy this weekend, sorry guys." He mutters quietly in response.

"What do you mean you’re busy? You never miss a party!" Jean looks at him shocked.

"Y/n is coming over this weekend, that’s why he’s acting that way." Armin reveals his best friends secret with a smirk on his face.

"He even told me I’m not allowed to come home till Sunday." He continues.

"Wait, wait, WAIT! Y/n L/n? Bro you better forget about her." Connie looks at Eren like he’s insane.

"What? Why?" Eren looks up to his friend, suddenly all ears again.

"She’s like wayyy out of your league, there’s no way she’d let you try anything with her!" Jean shakes his head, trying to prepare his friend for a heart break.

"Who said I wanna 'try anything’?" Eren starts getting annoyed. He knows all of those things but that’s not gonna stop him from dreaming night and day about your pretty lips warped around his dick, crying and gagging for him with that seducing look on your face that you always give him.

"Ohh right, I forgot our boy is still a virgin. Don’t worry, you’re not less of a man!"

Jean ruffles through Eren's hair.

"I never said I was?!" Eren looks offended over at his friend.

"Yeah but you thought it." Connie laughs.

"I hate you guys." He just rolls his eyes… but what if they are right?

Did he ever have a real chance with you?

And do you even like him?

Friday was like any other day…

at least that’s what Eren expected when he sat down next to you like usually.

You immediately noticed that something was off. He seemed so cold and distant and even after you asked him "did I do something wrong?", with a cute pout on your face, he only responded with a "nah don’t worry." before turning his head away from you again. The truth is that Eren was just scared. Hurt and scared to be specific.

What if Jean and Connie were right, and he’s just your way of passing time during your boring lectures.

He always felt a little delusional for thinking there could be something going on between you guys, but the conversation he had with his friends yesterday just made things worse.

Eren basically ignored you for almost the entire lecture, thinking about thousands of reasons why you could think that he’s not good enough for you.

He always had his fair share of insecurities, but he still hoped you’d like him regardless.

However all of his worries got dismissed after he opened the letter you passed him when nobody was looking.

'𝑯𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒔𝒆𝒙 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆?'

It said, written perfectly in your handwriting.

You smile at him innocently before tapping the end of your pencil against your bottom lip.

There’s no way you would write something like that if you weren’t interested in him… right?…

You’re so cruel for playing around with him like that. At this point it doesn’t even matter anymore if all of this is a joke or game to you, Eren is willing to risk it all.

If he ever had the glimpse of a chance with you, then now is the time to make use of it and shoot his shot. He’s definitely going to keep the note and brag about it to his friends though, simply to prove them that he’s not some virgin loser and that he knows how to talk to girls, even if he doesn’t do it a lot.

He smiles softly to himself before ripping out a piece of paper from his notebook and scribbling something on it.

Eren thinks to himself as he noticed the bugle in his pants. Luckily none of his friends were here, seeing him embarrassed at the fact that he is fully bricked up, because of you just writing on a stupid piece of paper.

'𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯' he writes back, trying to keep his cool to impress you.

Deep down he knew he’s scared to death right now, even if he doesn’t want to admit it…

"You’re still here? Get the fuck out Armin, Y/n's gonna be here in like one hour and I still need to…get ready!" Eren bursts into Armin’s room after hearing him talk on the phone.

He never wanted to impress a girl so bad in his life.

"Shut up Eren I’m talking to my mom!"

Armin puts his phone on silent as he tries to make Eren leave by pushing him away with one hand.

"Fuck no, don’t ruin this for me! You need to leave."

Armin unmutes his phone before he sighs and starts speaking again.

"Wait mom, I- I’m gonna call you back. Yes I promise I won’t drink much. Okay, yeah love you too, bye." He hangs up. "what the hell is wrong with you man?!" he glares at Eren. "Did you already pack your things?" Eren continues bugging him.

"Yes I did, now stop rushing me or I’ll tell Jean and Connie that you practiced how to put on condoms last night!" Armin threatens him, remembering the painfully awkward encounter he had with his best friend.

"Okay okay but you have to leave now, please Armin." Eren nearly begs. This is one of the most important days in his life, there’s no way he going to let anybody fuck this up.

"Fine, I was about to leave anyways." Armin sighs while rolling his eyes as he takes his backpack from his bed and puts it on before grabbing his keys from his nightstand. "Thank you man I love you!" Eren says relived, following Armin to the door.

"Yeah whatever." Armin says before walking out of the door and closing it behind him.

The entire hour that Eren had left, he spent by lighting up scented candles around the house and praying that he won’t mess up, not tonight.

It can’t be that hard right? He watched enough porn to know the basics, he just hopes that you won’t notice it’s his first time.

The moment the doorbell rang he almost had a stroke…. However it was nothing compared to the way his heart was beating fast when you sat down beside him on his bed after he lead you in his room.

Fake it till you make it right? That’s what Eren thought when he started kissing you, pretending that his last kiss wasn’t in middle school. Getting hard on time was much easier than he thought it would be.

He felt his heart skip a beat when your warm hand slides under his shirt as you start trailing your fingers over his abs. Your skin is so unbelievably soft, it feels like heaven. You make him take off his shirt and play with the buckle of his belt before he pulls your face closer by your chin, only leaving inches between you.

"You’re so fucking pretty." He mutters under his breath while inspecting your face.

He always wanted to have you to himself, and seeing you like this, so desperately craving his touch just drives him crazy.

Usually he feels like you hold this power over him, but you whispering quietly in his ear "I want you so bad." was a major ego boost to him.

He can’t believe that his friends almost had him convinced that he wasn’t good enough for you… ridiculous.

He takes off your dress and removes your underwear, as he watches your nipples get hard at the cool air, with a smirk on his face, before he takes out a condom from his pocket.

It’s now or never.

He gets rid of his pants and puts on the elastic rubber just like he practiced the night before.

Now that he’s so close to losing his virginity, realization hits him, killing the adrenaline that just rushed through his veins.

He feels the palms of his hands getting sweaty and his breath quicken as he tries to keep himself from panicking to much.

He takes a deep breath and moves his hardened member to your entrance before you flinch and stop him right when he’s about to put it in.

"What’s wrong?" He asked confused.

Did you notice that he’s completely inexperienced? This is so embarrassing, he should have just told you the truth when he had the chance to.

"I need to tell you something…" you shyly look up to him. "Did… Did I do something wrong?" Eren says, worried that he’s making you feel uncomfortable.

"No it’s just,… please be gentle okay?" You try to avoid eye contact before continuing.

"Don’t laugh at me but… I-I never did this before."

Eren chuckles lightly to himself.

"I’ll try to keep it down for ya."

This is going to be so much more fun than he thought it would be.

Just for fun, I decided to write up a ranking of different AOT ships

LeviHan: 10/10. Were we expecting anything else, really? I mean, look at my account. Surely, we all knew these two would be on top.

Eruri: 4/10. I used to ship it back in the day, aggressively so! But after encountering more and more art where Levi is portrayed as weak/childlike in their relationship, I just can't see it as appealing anymore.

If I did end up finding some good art or fic or them, I'd absolutely enjoy it! It's just not what I look for first.

MobuHan: 8/10. I can not get enough of these two, really! The only reason they are below a 10/10 is because of how little we see of Moblit.

Erwin X Miche: 10/10. Yes. Just yes.

Miche X Nanaba: 7/10. I adore them. Yet again they are only lowered because we don't see much action from.. well either one of them in this case. I do love every piece of fan work I come across tho! And I wish there was much much more.

Eremika: 10/10. They are soulmates your honour.

Connie X Sasha: 7/10. I'm torn! On one hand I see them as silly siblings, (chosen family) but on the other I also see them as so stupidly in love. They don't know it tho.

Zeke X Pieck: 10/10. "My Dear Little Pieck" must I say more?

Pieck X Porco: 8/10. I am strong on these two as well! I just prefer her and Zeke. That's the only thing that makes me rank them a bit lower.

"How to Disappear" is really very beautiful, woah! I like the melancholic melody and tune - but it's not overwhelmingly sad somehow, it's... comfortingly sad, if that makes any sense xD Very fitting for Eremika as a whole because post-rumbling she's really the saddest person in the whole story, the only one who didn't get what she wanted. Still, Mikasa continues to love him despite all the destruction and irreversible damage he caused and well, now that sort of ties into "tunnel under ocean blvd" tho? It was her determination to not let go of Eren even at the very end that brought everything to an end finally T^T This song captures that emotion perfectly! *siiiiiiigh* I miss them too :<

Now "Dealer" really fucking hurts T^T Because season 4 Eremin is p a i n f u l as hell. I like to imagine Armin promised Mikasa he'd bring Eren "back" (y'know, from the distance that kept growing between them) but that was easier said than done. Try as he might, Eren would NOT let Armin get close, the way he would've, just some time ago! What changed? Nobody can convince me Armin didn't find this infuriating and incredibly difficult - boy was MAD! Boy was mad and just holding his temper on a light leash... but sometimes, he did snap! Alone! This is the song for those moments - very raw!

"Norman Fucking Rockwell" has those minor-key tunes I really love in any song. I guess it suits a toxic ReiAnnie vibe quite well. Tho it's the lyrics that do it too hahaha xD Manchild sounds like something Annie would call Reiner several times in a single day, welp. Her general frustration with him can't be any higher. They have a difficult relationship - I like this song, I think it suits!

With Jeankasa, I like the ship because it's full of complicated emotions! I do hc Jean has some trouble with easily becoming comfortable in the relationship... it's all very sad #_# The song is nice! It's got this cynical vibe, kinda like this constant undercurrent of emotions in their relationship.

Wrapping up on Aruani as always T^T Great song title for these two hahaha xD Feels like an "Love during the apocalypse" type of song which I suppose it is... in a way. Fits Aruani especially during the high notes - beautiful!

no offense maybe I just don’t understand multi shipping a character who only has ever had eyes for one person, especially when he’s been obsessively visiting them in ice like I can’t imagine them even glancing at someone else

hii anon no offense taken! i’ll do my best to explain why i personally like multishipping (with armin, in aot, and in general)

first, you’re definitely right that armin and annie have the most “canon” relationship. they clearly have intense feelings for one another that are certainly romantic. aruani is absolutely my favorite armin ship, too. i just think their characters mesh so well together and the dynamic is delicious.

but just because armin and annie are “canon” doesn’t mean that i don’t like the idea of having armin, annie, and whoever else romantically involved with other people. if aruani *were* out of the question, then i think jearmin is my next fav armin ship. jean and armin also have such an interesting dynamic— just like aruani! jean is a natural leader, with an unforgettable presence on screen as both a charismatic authority and close friend of everyone in the 104th. and, honestly, jean has helped armin and comforted him (and vice versa) more than annie really has. jean and armin compliment each other so well, and honestly for me, it’s super easy to see them in a romantic context because of the intensity and nature of their relationship— especially during the 4 years annie was in the crystal.

and, of course, eren and mikasa. i rlly love arumika/eremin a lot!!! this is because i think armin and mikasa share such a close bond. throughout aot they are able to communicate just through their eyes multiple times. mikasa is always there for armin and armin for mikasa. they are seriously each other’s only constant in life�� again, makes for a pretty good romance. same thing with eremin. eren and armin are genuinely connected at their soul to each other! there are sooooo many romantic eremin moments too, literally since chap 1 of the manga, and i daresay more than aruani moments. this was certainly fueled by the anime ending additions but it’s always existed.

for one, some of these ships can coexist; it’s highly doubtful that armin ever only had one crush on annie for years, and even if he did, he’s 19/20 by the time annie is finally out of her crystal and i’d venture to say has probably kissed someone before. who knows? maybe he and sasha got super drunk one night. maybe he comforted mikasa in more ways than one when eren left in marley. maybe he and hitch got bored one day. maybe he and jean experimented some. these are all things that could have happened and are worth exploring or headcanoning.

second, i think that some multiships as a whole are typically, like, in parallel timelines. for example im a suckerrrrr for post rumbling aruani and post rumbling jearmin, and i don’t typically think of these ships as occurring in the same universe. basically im treating these ships as separate timelines that don't affect each other.

i totally love aruani more than anything, but every other armin ship has a reason to be compelling because armin is just a compelling character whose relationships are *literally* the thing that keeps the plot moving in aot (eremin moment). armin did visit annie in the crystal for years, but you could just as easily focus on the fact that eren and armin promised to spend eternity together or that mikasa and armin can actually read each other’s minds to justify the other ships. interpreting some of his interactions with the other characters as romantic is a totally valid thing to do (within reason lol). and, to me, these are relationships worth exploring and loving! sorry this is so long lmao but thanks for asking! <3

I haven't been in the snk fandom for years and just a few weeks ago I stumbled upon this, and goddammit before I knew the brainrot was back stronger than ever (Eremin brainrot, not snk brainrot).

Buckle up because this is going to be a long ass post.

At first I was kinda pissed because it literally felt like queerbaiting. I'm sorry but there's no way in hell (no pun intended) that you would say that to a friend. I've seen Turkish Dramas with less corny(affectionate) dialogue than this fucking shit right here. If Armin or Eren were a girl, this would have been considered romantic without a shred of doubt. Talking about being together forever in hell ? Not simply in the afterlife, in hell !?

You know what this reminds me of? My favorite canto from the Dante's Inferno. The one that tells the tale of Paolo and Francesca.

Summarizing the story shortly, Francesca da Rimini was a young girl who was forced to marry a man much older than her. Her husband had a younger brother of hre same age, Paolo, and the two fell in love. When Francesca's husband found out about their affair, he killed both of them.

Both couples committed the sin to follow their own selfish desires, although Paolo and Francesca's sin is a lot more understandable and wouldn't even be considered a sin by today's standards(they shouldn't have been in hell in the first place fuck you Dante)

Armin and Eren committed the ultimate sin, and will be paying for it in hell for eternity. Likewise, Paolo and Francesca committed the sin of adultery (although a lot less horrible sin) and are bound to spend eternity in hell together.

This canto of Dante's Inferno had me always fascinated for a reason. I've always wondered... is it really hell if you're with the person you love? When I was 13, the way my Sunday school teacher taught us about hell is something I'll remember until the end of my life. She explained hell like this; imagine you're here in this classroom, while in the other classroom there's a party. But you can't go because you'll be stuck here for eternity: that's what hell is, not being able to see God.

I found it funny at the time, because being the antisocial introvert I was, I would have much preferred staying in the empty classroom rather than attending a party in the other classroom. I was also in my atheist phase so I didn't care much about seeing God, whether he existed or not.

If hell really is like this, would two lovers being together really be considered torture? Wouldn't it be more torturous for them to be eternally separated instead?

So supposing hell is the state of missing what you long for the most, wouldn't Eren and Armin's punishment be eternal separation from one another?

the way some ems virulently hate eremin is so strange to me. like, do they view eremin as an actual competitor, a threat to their ship? Because I legitimately can't find anything else that would incite hatred for the ship (apart from plain old homophobia). The dynamic just not being your thing is totally understandable. But the hatred??

I doubt the analysis is as deep as "I think the way Eren puts Armin on a pedestal and expects him to be all the good in the world is toxic," or "I don't like that they've physically fought each other," or any sort of analysis, just disdain at face value. So they must see it as valid competition somehow, something they must actively defend against. I personally don't see eremika, or other ships with Eren or Armin, as competition, just another truth that I don't personally vibe with...

Of course I want to share, I love oversharing about my ships HAHA. So here you go, a (short) list of my SNK OTPs:

LeviHan

(pretends to be shocked). No, but I'm not even kidding when I said that they live in my head 24/7 🤣 Everytime I do or see something, I would automatically connect it to Levihan. I just can't help it lol, I love them so much (both as a character and as a ship). Their relationship is mature and pure but fun at the same time. I mean, they embody all of my favourite tropes, so no suprise here. But idk, there are no other ships (that came before them or after them) that could alter my brain in the same way as them. They changed me fr, like something shifted inside me the moment I became a Levihan shipper. Hell, I even chose my uni major because of a Levihan fanfiction 💀 Not only that, my writings and English has improved a lot, and all of that merely because I want to write their fanfic LOL.

I've been a Levihan shipper since 2013 and I will continue to be one until I die. So yeah, expect to see more Levihan fanfiction for more decades to come 😚✌️

They don't really live in my head 24/7 but I still think of them often. Also, they hold an important place in my heart since they are my first ship in SNK. Not only that, they are also special to me because they are THE ship that went from being considered as a crack ship to a canon one. LIKE IT WAS INSANE. I mean I've been an Aruani shipper since 2013 and so I knew how small the fandom were back then. Not only that, most of the SNK fandom saw AruAni as a crack shipper, but we were like, "No! They are not! (proceed to analyse the hell out of their interaction in the female titan arc)." 😀👍

So imagine how SHOCKED and ECSTATIC I WAS when all of these analysis and headcanons CAME TRUE. It took us almost a decade, but we finally got to say, "See guys? WE ARE NOT DELUSIONAL." I never been proud as a shipper HAHA. One of my biggest flex is to say that I've been an Aruani truther since 2013 😎

Okay now that I think about it, the only ships that I deeply care about are only the two above. I do like other ships, but only in a casual way (but I still gonna defend them though LOL), and those are:

I used to be neutral with them but when that episode of Historia holding the passed out Ymir on her lap and said, "My real name is Historia", then they stared at each other eyes with such love???? BEAUTIFUL I SAY. Their dynamic and the way their characters arc intertwined with each other? Love it! I wished Isayama gave them a proper closure though :(

Oh man, I actually have a lot of things to say about them but I'm gonna keep it brief🤐 I didn't ship them at the beginning, but as I grew up and as I tried to understand their characters, I found myself falling for JeanKasa and their potential. I feel they will have a healthy, mature, and loving relationship. I also like the way Jean showed his love to Mikasa (he's not selfish and he's not blinded by his love).

Let me think... Before Levihan, I've never cared about shipping to be honest! I didn't even know it was a thing & that it had a name lol

But I remember hoping something like love would bloom between characters & that they would kiss & stuff...

It's either Pendranièvre (Arthur Pendragon x Guenièvre) in the French show "Kaamelott" or Braime (Jaime Lannister x Brienne of Tarth) in "Game of Thrones". Although being very different, both pairings have an interesting dynamic, so many feelings left unsaid, & amazing yet awkward chemistry.

ikr whenever i write eremin they're soulmates even if it isn't mentioned or relevant bc i can't imagine them not being soulmates

i truly believe eren and armin were soulmates. their souls were bound together and knotted. they were so deeply intertwined that armin didn't know where eren began and he ended. it was messy but perfectly human. they'll love others romantically but it won't hold a candle to the devotion they have for one another. and that's okay. it's not meant to replicate romantic love, it's something else entirely, something that neither can describe nor have they ever thought to. they've never imagined a world without the other in it. they've spent their whole lives together, they'd spend their entire futures together. they were boys, and then they were men. and they loved each other like no other. armin was the last person to speak to eren. the last thing eren ever said was armin's name. armin will spend the rest of his life living for eren and waiting to be reunited. (but its different, it is so different to mikasa who can't bring herself to move on. eventually she begins to live for herself but there is this thin line that differentiates the devotion eren had for the two of them and it makes me insane) (this is not eremika or mikasa bashing, what they have is beautiful too but its different. intense, all consuming, and the makings of a bright first love that could never be).
