ich habe wirklich unterschätzt, wie sehr man in der crimebusters-ära versucht hat, an den charakteren zu schrauben. das liest sich teilweise so tacky wie eine folge beverly hills 90210* (*ich darf das sagen, ich habe die ersten vier staffeln auf dvd)

ich mein', was ist schon kontinuität, aber zwischen automafia und stimmen aus dem nichts dürften maximal zwei jahre vergehen, es sei denn, die sind mehrfach sitzengeblieben. aus welchem wurmloch er die zeit für vier jahre mit elizabeth geschöpft hat, ist mir ein rätsel.

bonuspunkte dafür, daß er justus so semi-anflirtet & justus es einfach nicht rafft. ("viele jungen stehen auf dich" ist exakt was ich meinem crush in der schulzeit gesagt habe, als sie sich ungeliebt gefühlt hat, das ist full on homo)

es sind halt die 80er/90er & es kommt so ekliges bodyshaming vor (bin immer noch semi-geflasht, daß kari erlhoff da zumindest ein wenig nuance reingebracht hat), aber diese stelle hier taucht auch im hörspiel auf & like. ich will dem autoren nicht zu viel credit geben, aber in meinem deeply delusional gehirn sagt bob eigentlich, daß er justus gerade richtig findet & nur concerned ist, weil er eine abgefuckte radikaldiät macht 😭

justus sieht am stylishsten aus, aber kelly will, daß peter sich ein beispiel an bob nimmt (kelly & bob sollten unlikely friends sein 😌)

wobei mir unklar ist, wie kelly sich so ein outfit angucken & denken könnte: "mann, mein freund sollte auch so aussehen."

spannend ist auch, daß man offenbar sehr darauf bedacht war, sich bestimmten tropes zu widersetzen. bob war vorher eher ein bücherwurm, und lässt zunehmend das detektivbüro schleifen, um mit leuten rumzuhängen (ist bob mit der ganzen schule befreundet?) und peter ist zwar wirklich sehr sportlich, aber offensichtlich hängt er viel eher an den drei ???

honourable mentions: ich habe als kind/jugendliche zehn jahre karate gemacht und tbh, der trainingsaufbau in peters und bobs verein hat mich sehr irritiert. (fairerweise muss man sagen, daß das wirklich auch sehr variiert.)

I don’t know who to blame for Sire Bond storyline because it was so stupid.

The way the show wanted us to believe Elena was only with Damon because of the sire bond was also incredibly stupid and just bad writing. Because they already had people like Tyler who LITERALLY said:

“The sire bond doesn’t change your feelings, just your actions.”

Tyler hated Klaus when he was sired to him, but he still obeyed everything he said. This fucking quote should’ve ended ALL OF THE DEBATE, but noooo they kept dragging it till damn near all the way till the end of the season. And what’s worse is that that AFTER season 4, it was all about if Elena became human, she wouldn’t love Damon anymore.

Oh… BROTHERRRRRRRR.

Did we forget how fucking vampirism works?? Who’s in that damn writers room? Is this how we’re choosing to spend our time? Creating bullshit?

Damon has some intense insecurities dealing with abandonment and trust issues. I do believe that he would have doubt that Elena wouldn’t be with him as a human. But at some fucking point, Damon should’ve realized that Elena is deeply in love with him, and no mean ass remarks from anyone could blind him of seeing that. His development should’ve included strengthening his trust and security with his relationships.
