On the whole 'different schools not the kiss' idea, I think even if the distance is the ultimate issue the kiss will play a role... something along the lines of "we could survive this if we both went to Yale but long distance plus the lingering trust issues won't work for either of us" makes sense as a double-blow to Bughead. And as dumb and cliche as a cheating breakup is to me having Betty cheat, they get over that completely, but turn around and breakup for something else is just... odd...

I could foresee a scenario where the kiss complicates a long-distance relationship for sure. But overall I thought RAS’ post finale interviews were interesting and he gave us a lot to chew over. Here is what I took away from them:

-He said that the BA kiss drove Betty back to Jughead, and that she felt good about recommitting to Jughead. And this seemed to play out in 4x19.

-In contrast, he described Archie as “confused” and he also implied that Archie is going to finish his song in the prom episode, and that the prom episode will be a “dramatic” episode for Varchie.

-He talked about Bughead having a “difficult conversation” ahead of them with respect to going to different schools.

-It sounds like Jughead and Veronica are going to find out about the kiss in 4x20 (now 5x01) but they find out in different ways. So our theory that it was going to come out via a voyeur videotape in the finale and scatter the Core 4 prior to the time jump seems shot. My guess is that Archie’s song plays into how Veronica finds out, and potentially the voyeur tapes play into how Jughead finds out given that Bughead are still going to be investigating that mystery in the coming eps. I know we would rather Betty told him about it, but it is plausible to me that her fear of losing him or hurting him leads her to keep it from him and results in him finding out some other way.

-It sounds like RAS is reconsidering the time jump because of the COVID situation. At this point, we have no idea when season 5 will start filming or how long it will be. It sounds like we can be fairly confident that episodes 4x20-4x22 will now be 5x01-5x03 but that is all we know. I suspect that season 5 could be a shortened season - maybe 10 to 12 episodes depending on when they start filming. If that is the case then it might make sense to hold the time skip for season 6.

-All that said, it seems that there will be some time after the kiss is revealed for there to be emotional fallout from it. The Core 4 is not going to scatter to the wind immediately, and maybe not scatter to the wind at all in season 5.

At the end of the day, we do not know how long this hiatus will last or how it will play into their plans for season 5. But RAS’ comments did make me feel more hopeful for Bughead than I did in the midst of the 4x17-4x18 debacle. A lot of us felt that the kiss would be a devastating blow for Jughead because he has always been insecure about Archie and BA and the kiss would confirm all of his worst fears and undermine his faith in Betty’s feelings for him and how do they recover from it etc. Something I think @imreallyloveleee pointed out is, do Jughead’s insecurities become less tangible if we have Archie who is suddenly pining for Betty with Betty actively choosing to be with Jughead? Thus far, that is something we have not seen in Riverdale yet. We had Betty pining for Archie, and Archie rejecting her in early season 1 pre-Bughead. We had the BA kiss in season 2 when everyone was broken up that went nowhere. Not that this will make the betrayal cut any less deep, but if we have Archie actively confused about “do I want Betty or Veronica” and Betty not at all confused about who she wants, does Jughead feel less insecure? I think probably.

Also something @imreallyloveleee pointed out, and is something I’ve been thinking about as well, is that Jughead has shown a tremendous capacity to forgive his parents for some pretty fucked up shit. Jughead is the type of person who seems to really only let a few people “in” at any given time, but once they are there, he is extremely loyal to the people he loves. Like - even Archie, as poorly as the Jughead & Archie friendship has been developed over the years, Jughead has forgiven Archie for quite a lot and stuck by him. And who does Jughead love more in this world than Betty? That love and trust he has in Betty will of course make the betrayal hurt more deeply, but if he can forgive his father for being a semi abusive alcoholic than I am pretty sure he can forgive Betty for this. 

Jughead was also tremendously understanding and mature about the season 2 BA kiss. When I watched season 2, long before I joined fandom, I remember seeing the BA kiss and thinking “oh okay here we go” and then was pleasantly surprised when everyone got back together, and Jughead’s main point of contention was not the kiss itself but the fact that Betty kept it from him. But he was even understanding about that. Jughead is a pretty cerebral person, and I think if he could work it out then and come to terms with it, he can probably do so again. And of course I am sure he will be hurt that she kept it from him, but I do think he would understand it was out of a fear of losing him.

I do think it would be interesting to see them work past this, er... bump in their relationship only for the distance and separation to present as a real problem. Like maybe going to separate universities prevents them from having the time to work it out. Or maybe it makes the trust aspect of a relationship in that kind of situation more complicated as you suggest. Overall, if we are headed for a Bughead break up (and I certainly think we are if the time jump is still on the agenda) then I think at least adding in the twist of going to different universities makes it a more compelling break up storyline than just the BA kiss.

First three seasons without a shadow of a doubt it’s pure comfort to me life has never been as good after those three seasons.

I love Meredith and Derek and mark and Lexie OF COURSE…but what I instantly attached to was Jackson and April (I bet you see a theme of me tortured by ships) now listen to my reasons. My sister spoiled the show for me and I didn’t watch it for a long while meanwhile she continued one night im going down to snack and she had it playing and is passed out so I sit and kill time. THE EPISODE WAS THE DIVORCE EPISODE so I text my friend crying my eyes out because she watched it all and I ask if they get back together and she tells me no so I say okay I won’t get attached…I did in fact get attached.

Season one and three.

Season one was enticing and interesting but season three was also so good but season one ultimately cos season three had poor flow and had a lot of unnecessary shit that couldve been scrapped so major plot point stuff like Kyle waking up and max resurrected (again)

Alex Manes is my favorite. I just love him and his story.

2. Who is your least favorite character in 1?

Imma just say it Alaric and Josie Saltzman. I'm just not a fan of them.

3. What is your favorite episode of 4?

Oh that's a hard one.. But I guess I'll go with the episode that started it all 1x01.

4. What is your favorite season of 5?

Season 3 is my favorite. Mostly because we got No Humanity Stefan, I really enjoyed that storyline. But also because we got to see more of the Mikaelsons and learn more about their past and how they became vampire.

5. What is your favorite couple in 3?

Jackie/Hyde and in my head they ended up together. I started shipping them since 3x08 and I really loved their development(s8 doesn't exist to me. Not just with Jackie/Hyde but as a whole).

6. Who is your favorite couple in 2?

Malex. They have a chokehold on my heart ❤❤😍😍

Season 1. When the storylines didn't feel like a complete mess( or just ignored). And when we actually start it to get answers.

“What happened in there, Er?”

It was dark in the bullpen now, the rolling chairs of her fellow detectives empty and even the light in Hank’s office off because she’d promised she’d lock up and she’d promised she was fine even though her computer screen was well past blurry in front of her and her fingers shook every damn time she attempted to type up a semblance of a report. And to be honest she’d been so drained she hadn’t even realized he’d wandered back in until he’d voiced his question and even then she was still perplexed because she could’ve sworn she was the only one left, and she could’ve sworn Voight had effectively shooed everyone out to give her some much needed space to clear her head for the board in the morning.

“Jesus, Jay,” she murmured, lifting her head out of her hands to cast her hazel eyes in his direction as he perched on the edge of his “old” desk and the heartache and the defeat he saw in them nearly ripped his heart in two but he wasn’t sure why he expected anything less. And he may have blown it on the relationship front with her and hell, he was beating himself up for it each and every night laying his head down on the couch cushions in the middle of Will and Nina’s living room, but he’d always been comforted by the fact that he could come into work and he could be there for her as her partner and have her back like he’d always been able to do no matter what shit was going on between the both of them, but today it’d been rightly taken away because the lines were blurring and they hadn’t quite gotten a handle on where they stood yet but that didn’t mean it sat well with him and that didn’t mean he wasn’t beating himself up for not being there to pull her back from the edge because damn, maybe then she wouldn’t be still sitting here in a hopeless desperation and damn, he knew he could’ve gotten her to listen to him for at least a second.

“I was uh- Voight had me clean up the mess in there,” he replied back softly, motioning over his shoulder down the hallway to the interrogation room with his thumb and she let out a long breath and her shoulders fell in defeat for the second time that night and her fingers went back to running through her waves in chagrin, because she had all of ten hours to get her story straight and to pull herself together to present in front of the board and having her ex-boyfriend and newly designated ex-partner right here in front of her wasn’t helping anything. “Er, what happened?” Jay repeated and he watched as her fingers tightened into a fist around a pen she was clutching in her right hand and he watched as her jaw clenched in irritation and her eyes drifted closed and he almost bolted up out of his position on the corner of his- now Upton’s- desk to run his fingers across her cheek to loosen her jaw and to get her to look at him but he wasn’t going to force this and he wasn’t going to push because that was the last thing she needed with all that she now had on her plate.

“He had a kid, Jay. A kid. I did what I - I did what I had to do,” she whispered back ferociously and his fingers began to tap on his knee and he felt the muscles in his own jaw begin to tighten because he was having a really hard time not crossing the two steps to get to her and taking her up in his arms and he was having a really hard time admitting to the fact that he’d absolutely and entirely blown it with her, and what in the hell he was supposed to do with that without breaking Hank’s boundaries as well as Erin’s.

“Hey, hey I know,” he replied, barely above a murmur and then he couldn’t take it anymore so he took the few steps to reach her to instead perch on the corner of her desk, only a few inches away from her bouncing knee, because he was still maintaining a boundary and he still wanted to give her that space but it was taking nearly everything not to reach out and touch her. He wasn’t exactly sure what to do around her anymore and that thought alone was terrifying because it was absolutely all his fault because he’d walked out on her. But this was Erin. This was his partner. This was her.

“Jay, they could take my badge,” she breathed out and in that same instant she stood to meet his gaze and she stood to take a step closer to him and into his arms, and he held her there and he held her close because the last time he’d touched her had been at Molly’s on his birthday and then he’d let her go and walk away and every moment since then without her right there pressed up against him had been agony.

She let the tears fall then, the tears over losing little Derek, the tears over her mother showing back up without an explanation, the tears over the fact she’d lost her partner and her anchor and her safe place at work, the tears over the fact she was up against the review board tomorrow morning and she hadn’t the slightest clue what she was going to say or where she was going to end up and even Hank’s ‘I’m with you until the wheels come off’ hadn’t been enough consolation.

“Erin, babe- hey, look at me.” Jay winced before she had pulled away from him and could see his expression because ‘babe’ had been reserved for his famous early morning pancakes after waking her up in bed and late nights out together getting a drink at Molly’s and for telling her good morning by smoothing her bed-head away from her lips and out of her eyes so he could brush his mouth against hers, and in those moments he had been certain that waking up to her in his arms was the closest to heaven he was ever going to get. ‘Babe’ was not for the workplace or for the tip-toeing they had both been doing around each other or for the space he had given by crashing on his brother’s couch. And still, it’d come so easily to him.

Her brows creased into the slightest hint of a frown though her heart lurched at his words as she pulled away from him though she didn’t move far, finding comfort in his closeness and comfort in his gentle touch and his soft-spoken murmurs, even though she was trying to tell herself she shouldn’t. Their entire relationship was up in the air now what with Voight breaking them up as partners and though maybe she welcomed the change and maybe it gave her a little space to breathe and maybe she understood the reasoning behind it, she found she wanted nothing more than the old normal of those few moments of him strapping up her bulletproof vest and the brush of his fingers purposefully lingering on the back of her neck for a beat too long before a bust, or the way she’d used to meet him in the break room at the start of a shift and he’d be waiting with her mug of coffee in his hand with a splash of skim and a sugar already mixed in and her favorite little grin upon his lips.

“You know we all have your back. You know you’re a damn good detective and you got what we needed and they have to know that too. You- we only found Derek because of you,” he whispered.

His vibrant blue eyes remained trained on her face but his mind went back to lifting that tiny ten-year old boy out of the back of that rusted old car and his mind went back to desperately trying to pump his heart back into beating and his mind went back to little Ben Carson and the fact that he’d been too late so save either one of them even though saving those boys had been his responsibility. And then he felt the tears welling in his own eyes because this case had hit way too close to home for him too, so he pulled Erin back and close to his chest and breathed in the faint scent of her coconut and vanilla shampoo, and he felt her arms snake around his strong frame and he felt her bury her face in his black henley and her body shake with another sob because even catching the nasty son of a bitch didn’t feel like a win for either one of them in the grand scheme of things.

And so they clung to each other, for what might of been minutes or what might have been hours in the darkness and the silence of the bullpen because she was his anchor and he was hers and that had to be enough.

Hey there Nonnie! This prompt is pretty similar to one I did last week but I’ll give ‘er a shot anyhow! I hope you like it. There is some dialogue from 4x22 that I’ve used here!As Caroline slowly finished packing up her graduation gown and some of the decorations from the earlier festivities into the trunk of her car she felt his presence behind her. She stiffened slightly as she turned to face him. “Congratulations Caroline,”“How’d you get here so fast?” Caroline tilted her head looking him in the eyes. She had tried to reach him by phone multiple times to no avail. “I was already on my way,” he responded. “I received your graduation announcement in the mail. I assume you’re expecting cash?”“That, or a mini fridge” she giggled. She frowned then, realizing that the most likely scenario here would be that they end their conversation and he would leave town again for who knows how long and she may not ever see him again, as he had begun to build a life for himself in New Orleans as she had heard.“Why so glum love?”“Oh it’s nothing...” she trailed off. “I could opt to give you something else, though I’m not quite sure what you’re answer will be?”She tilted her head towards him again with a look of intrigue crossing her face. “How about a first class ticket to join me in New Orleans? There’s beautiful art, music, anything you could ever hope for. It’s a stopping ground for the supernatural. You’d be able to fully embrace who you are.” A look of insecurity began to show in Klaus’ expression as he rambled.“I’ll go pack a bag.” Caroline replied. She spun on her heel and went to hop in the front of her car and make her trek toward home.“Caroline!” Klaus said as he grabbed her elbow and spun her back around. Caroline looked shocked. ‘Was he really going to fight me on this? I just basically told him I would ride off into the sunset with him. Isn’t this what he’s always wanted, what I’ve always wanted?’ she thought.“Don’t joke with me sweetheart. I’m not playing around when I say I would love to have you join me in New Orleans.”“I’m not joking Klaus. I want to go with you. I’ve never really stepped foot outside of Mystic Falls. I think it’s about time I did, don’t you?” She winked at him and turned around again to get in her car. “I’ll meet you back here in an hour?”“Sure, love. I’ll see you then!” Klaus began to smile. His wildest dream had just come true. Caroline quickly drove home and began packing a suite case. How was she ever to know what she would need? How long did she plan on staying? I guess those would be things she would have to figure out but she didn’t care. She was finally doing something for herself and had never felt better. All that was left was breaking the news to her mom.“Mom!” She called through the house. “Care, what’s wrong?!” Liz replied. “Nothings wrong mom but I have to tell you something and I’m really hoping you won’t freak out.”“You’re leaving with him aren’t you?” She inquired.“How did you know?”“I see the way he looks at you. I also see the way you look at him when you think no one is watching you. I can see how protective of you he is and how much he cares for you. It’s never just been words of adoration Caroline. His actions have proven to me that I can trust him with you. Just make sure you come back and visit ok?”Caroline hugged her mom and grabbed her suitcase from the bottom of the staircase. “Of course mom. But you could stand to get out of town every now and then too ya know. Maybe you could come and visit us, in New Orleans”“I’ll do my best dear. Now be safe and have fun. I’ll handle everyone else here.”Caroline smiled and turned to walk out the door. She was about to leave on the biggest adventure of her life thus far and she couldn’t wait to see what else it had in store. “Ready love?” Klaus questioned as she approached him.“As I’ll ever be” she smiled. “Are you absolutely sure?” Klaus had worry written all over his face. “I don’t want you to do anything you’ll regret.”Caroline stood slightly on her tip toes and pressed a light kiss to his cheek and whispered “Let’s go.”Please let me know what you all think!!
