I don't understand how a lot of you can be so utterly hypocritical, I really don't. Everything is all about being queer, and if someone doesn't always have the same opinion as some of you, they're evil, should "fuck off", etc etc. I mean its so bad at this point that if you click on a catholic tag all of it is hate.

and for anyone who doesn't believe me--I myself am an openly queer Catholic born and raised. and there are some people who don't agree with me.

I've said this before, but agreeing with someone isn't everything.

other people are going to have bad stuff to say whether they're a part of the LGBTQ+ community or not. Catholics suffer inequality a lot now. doesn't matter to anyone now. and half the stuff you hear on the media is FROM THE POPE. NOT CATHOLICS THEMSELVES.

i see a lot of people* who advocate for trans unity are just using a different term to hide their transmisogyny.

it’s not ‘trans unity’ if you can’t acknowledge that trans men aren’t the center of the universe and that trans women and their issues matter just as much.

it’s not ‘trans unity’ if you believe that trans women should kiss the feet of trans men and beg for their forgiveness for their alleged ‘misandry’ while completely ignoring the very real and very dangerous transmisogyny present in the trans and outer lgb community.

it’s not ‘trans unity’ if your idea for fixing the rift in the trans community is for trans women to shut the fuck up and do all the work.

it’s not ‘trans unity’ if you can’t even allow trans women to talk about the harm terfs do to them specifically without barging in and silencing them because “terfs are mean to us too so-!”. that’s not the point. trans women talking about their oppression isn’t hurting you, and it’s definitely not an invitation to fight them about it because you want to turn it into an argument about who has it worse.

it’s not ‘trans unity’ if your idea of trans unity is to have a community where trans women are just submissive and obedient, silent about the mistreatment they face either because they were silenced or because they never had a voice in the first place. you are already a part of that community. you already surround yourself with likeminded people who believe the same transmisogynistic things that you do. you don’t need to push a false idea of unity among trans people, it’s very clear what you believe in already, and we don’t need the entire trans community behaving like this.

While I completely agree the response to chappell's political comments has been awful, I'm concerned by the anti-democrat / anti-Harris commentary people are circulating in defense of her. I agree with the criticism of the democratic party and Harris specifically, but we're about to have a major election where Republicans won't hesitate to vote for Trump. As recently as 2016, we've seen Democrats lose because of an onslaught of criticism for their candidate close to the election when the Republican candidate was clearly way worse. I don't believe that now is the time to be publicly pushing against Kamala Harris or the Dems. We need to unite to put the lesser of two evils in and I personally believe that means holding off on public criticism until after the election because I don't want to see 2016 repeated. (Afterwards we protest and demand better.) In an ideal world we could voice our opinions any time and not influence other voters, but I don't believe we live in that world. Nor do we live in one where a third option happens - it's Harris or Trump and one side is much better even if it's not good.

I don't know which is more devasting. The idea that Mihawk and Shanks didn't see each other for a decade after thier breakuptm (which giving that they dueled almos daily for years someone had to have drastically changed their habits to avoid seeing the other)

or even despite all that and not for a lack of trying they just keep running into each other. That their fates are so horrribly enterwined, their yin and yang so bound to the other that despite their best efforts to the contrary it always brings them together again. On the same island in the same know nothing town pretending the other doesn't exist. Because Shanks is a captain on the come up he has a whole crew a burgeoning fleet and territories he can't just drop everything to chase after a petulant swordsman. And if Mihawk can't fight shanks then he can't see Shanks.

And god the tragedy of that of knowing that they are there on the other side of this island because you've known from the moment they arrived. But knowing better/refusing to do anything about it.

On the other hand I do also love the idea that whenever they do run into each other they get into these intense arguments and Mihawk and Shanks have always been prone to fighting but not like this. Because at the end of the day Mihawk and Shanks are both very immature people Shanks is prone to deflecting and distracting to avoid the problem while Mihawk is prone to just completely shutting down when any strong emotions are involved or when he feels like he is not being understood, until he just bursts out in a flurry of rage filled meanness and wrath with a body trail a mile long. And so they just go at each other and the situation is too delicate to thorn filled for Beckman to mediate and so he separates them at least to preserve the integrity of the island they are all presently on.

And then Mihawk goes off and takes his anger out on a marine base cause the pirates have all learned to steer clear of him.

I just think it brings new meaning to Shanks posturing when Mihawk first pulls up on him a decade later. That "you come here for a fight" is a real question and not just playful banter because obviously Shanks doesn't like fighting with Mihawk but why else would he be here? It's why mihawk's little comment doesn't diffuse the tension until he mentions luffy's poster. He is literally and figuratively extending an Olive branch and Shanks couldn't be happier to take it
