This is an abstract piece of art I made for my Painting I Class. It’s called “My Rainbow Box”, as I recycled my empty white rags box by priming it with gesso and covered it with oil paint, except for the bottom. I feel that it is important to cut down on waste, and to turn our junk into something worth value.

Unraveling the Mystery of Corrosion Control Treatments
Corrosion – the silent enemy of metal structures and equipment. It sneaks in unnoticed, gradually eating away at surfaces, compromising structural integrity, and causing costly damage. But fear not! With the right Corrosion Control Treatments, you can wage war against this formidable foe and protect your assets from its destructive grasp. Let's delve into the world of corrosion control treatments, exploring their importance, strategies, and the transformative impact they have on industries across the United States.
Understanding the Significance of Corrosion Control Treatments
Why are corrosion control treatments crucial for industrial assets? Imagine your metal equipment as knights in shining armor, vulnerable to the relentless assault of rust – corrosion control treatments act as their protective shield, preserving their strength and resilience against the ravages of time and the elements.
Preventing Structural Deterioration
Corrosion control treatments are not just about aesthetics; they're about preserving the structural integrity of metal assets. How do these treatments prevent deterioration? By forming a barrier that shields surfaces from moisture, oxygen, and corrosive agents, corrosion control treatments prevent the electrochemical reactions that lead to corrosion, ensuring that structures remain sound and functional for years to come.
Extending Service Life
Just as a well-maintained suit of armor can withstand the test of time, corrosion control treatments extend the service life of metal assets. How do they achieve this? By proactively addressing corrosion and preventing its spread, these treatments reduce the need for costly repairs and replacements, saving both time and money in the long run.
Strategies for Corrosion Control Treatments
Protective Coatings
Protective coatings are the frontline defense against corrosion, forming a durable barrier that shields metal surfaces from environmental exposure. What types of coatings are commonly used?
Epoxy Coatings: Known for their excellent adhesion and chemical resistance, epoxy coatings are ideal for protecting metal structures in harsh industrial environments.
Zinc-rich Primers: Zinc-rich primers provide sacrificial protection by corroding in place of the underlying metal, delaying the onset of corrosion and extending the lifespan of the coating system.
Polyurethane Coatings: Polyurethane coatings offer superior UV resistance and weatherability, making them suitable for outdoor applications where exposure to sunlight and moisture is a concern.
Cathodic Protection
Cathodic protection is another effective strategy for combating corrosion, particularly in buried or submerged metal structures. How does cathodic protection work? By introducing a sacrificial anode or impressed current system, cathodic protection creates a cathodic environment that inhibits corrosion, preserving the integrity of underground pipelines, storage tanks, and marine structures.
Benefits of Corrosion Control Treatments
Cost Savings
One of the primary benefits of corrosion control treatments is cost savings. How do these treatments save money? By preventing corrosion-related damage and the need for extensive repairs or replacements, corrosion control treatments help organizations minimize downtime, reduce maintenance costs, and prolong the lifespan of their assets.
Safety and Reliability
In addition to cost savings, corrosion control treatments enhance safety and reliability. How do they achieve this? By ensuring that metal structures and equipment remain structurally sound and free from corrosion-induced failures, these treatments minimize the risk of accidents, environmental contamination, and costly shutdowns, promoting a safer and more reliable operating environment.
youtube
Conclusion: Embracing the Power of Corrosion Control Treatments
Corrosion may be a formidable adversary, but with the right corrosion control treatments in place, you can protect your metal assets and ensure their longevity and performance. Whether it's applying protective coatings, implementing cathodic protection systems, or adopting other corrosion mitigation strategies, investing in corrosion control is an investment in the future resilience and reliability of your industrial infrastructure. So, don't wait for corrosion to strike – take proactive steps to safeguard your assets and keep them shining bright for years to come.

here's some punk diy tips and ideas
[other than crusty pants and battle jacket, although we still love those greatly.]
why should you diy, when you can just find decorated items everywhere, you can ask. what if you are clumsy at painting or anything?
firstly, good questions. we diy so we don't give credit to the big companies who rule the world. we diy to get more independent from the system we dislike. we diy so to save money. to express uniqueness, recognize eachother and be recognized. and especially to have fun and feel cool. diy is not only about clothing, but anything you can set your mind on. of course, one cannot make EVERYTHING for themselves, there isn't enough time and energy. but making at least small steps are already a statement and more than nothing. also, helping small artists by buying their products is also pretty punk.
that being said, i provide you with some tips of mine, all gained from experience:
anything you drew/painted on, you will WANT TO protect. acrylic paint/markers + acrylic paint varnish/transparent nail polish/textile medium are your best friends. read after anything that's new to you.
i highly recommend working with old clothing or thrift shop finds when it comes to textiles, as it is environmentally friendly and you will stay in budget. Anyways, always make sure that the material you use isn't gonna be problematic. for example, if you want to do some patchwork, the material shouldn't decay easily (if it does, it will come off so quickly.). if you want to paint on it, it shouldn't be rugged.
you can not only draw/paint on your canvas shoes, but can also sew, embroidery (just make sure to use a thimble, plus floss instead of thread could make your work more durable), and add beads and trinkets to your shoelaces. in the case of shoes, never use glue (neither hot nor instant glue) – it will come off quickly. for some inspiration, i'll show you my shoes!
(the fake moss is literally unstoppable from falling off or getting dirty. risky idea.)
it's good to carry around water and food!! you don't even have to pay for decorative water bottles and food boxes, as you can draw on glass and plastic just fine with acrylic markers. just don't forget to paint transparent nail polish all over your drawing. in at least two layers. don't be lazy or laid-back. even posca comes off while washing the dishes. and you WANT TO save your reference pictures/final designs, as the case of emergency is likely. but after all, my water bottle is exactly fine after six months, with no accuring problem.
if your current best option to get stickers from is aliexpress or overpriced decor stores, search for local artists and shops on instagram and tiktok, as it may be their most efficent way of getting you to know them. if it seems like you have no chance, you may can still find a print shop with the option of printing on self-adhesive sheets (at least in hungary, those are pretty cheap). and if you want drawings to print out as stickers, you may use your own or –ONLY IF YOU GET PERMISSION– other artist's work. not only good for decorations for like, headphones, but for vandalism too. WAIT WAIT who said that. who said it. not me. no never
(in case that's also impossible, you can create stickers by printing out/drawing a picture, cover it up in transparent adhesive tape, and then put some two-sided adhesive tape on the white side of the pic. it won't be that durable, but it functions.)
if you want to bleach-paint clothing, get some plastic brushes!! any other brush dissolves. draw your design first with chalk!! never forget to put cardboard inside the clothing, and to wash the finished work in a washing machine before you'd put it on. prepare to be patient with the process. and it's not dangerous to touch 5%-9% household bleach, just wash your hands soon after.
if you want your crusty pants to last veryyy long, wax them. look up on youtube jeans waxing.
some more things i made for myself so to give you some inspiration: totebag with pockets, a small crystal holder cabinet, badges, and i decorated some t-shirts, button-ups, an id card case, phonecase, laptop.
theoretically speaking, there is nothing that an individual would be unable to learn how to make, when it comes to diy. you can't imagine how easy it is to bake bread at home. consuming-focused media makes people believe that it's hard to make anything. of course, everyone has to decide about their own priorities, i don't want to convince or change anyone in here. and if you have any questions, send an ask!! i hope i had been helpful.

Part 1/2 (next one not coming before June, sadly. Exams and all that)
UPD: i dunno if it's happening, maybe one day...
This took me ages to draw in-between classes and small mental breakdowns. Hope you're liking it though 🤠 Not finishing part 2 before exams-
Solarpunk lore for fellow nerds:
The first scene takes place inside an abandoned prison which has been reclaimed by mostly youth who like to hang out there and do whatever they feel like. They still stay aware about what happened there before and choose to be free to "heal the site". Quite a few other prisons have been made into museums to showcase the brutality of the past.
(Halfway through drawing the second slide I realized spray paint isn't really...environmentally friendly, so let's just say that those murals and graffiti were drawn in the heat of the moment lol)
The rest of the scenes take part in a "dorm" for young people (not tied to any educational facility). Those who have shown themselves to be decently independent and want to move away from their extended family can go and live at one of these!
There they can meet other young peeps and do whatever they feel like: art projects, gardening, self-education, sports, crafts etc. When they feel like they've outgrown the place, they can also choose to move.
Some rooms here are connected (like the one Percy and Andrea, the first two characters, live in) and others aren't. Everyone has a nice little balcony. They also each have a small fridge and kitchen area in their apartments, but big meals happen in the two community kitchen (you can notice them on the left on the 9th slide).
The scene in the laundromat shows Percy casually using a graywater system to recycle laundry water. It goes through a quick filtering process before getting sprayed on the plants to avoid bad long-term effects.
_____________________________________________________
Alright, I think that's all. See ya next time (and probably in a long timeeeee...)

Promising material for solar energy gets its curious boost from entropy, researchers show
Solar energy is critical for a clean-energy future. Traditionally, solar energy is harvested using silicon—the same semiconductor material used in everyday electronic devices. But silicon solar panels have drawbacks: for instance, they're expensive and hard to mount on curved surfaces. Researchers have developed alternative materials for solar-energy harvesting to solve such shortcomings. Among the most promising of these are called "organic" semiconductors, carbon-based semiconductors that are Earth-abundant, cheaper and environmentally friendly. "They can potentially lower the production cost for solar panels because these materials can be coated on arbitrary surfaces using solution-based methods—just like how we paint a wall," said Wai-Lun Chan, associate professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Kansas.

Everyone is afraid of China. And why shouldn’t they be? They have a large industrial base, paid for by American industrialists. They have a lot of money, given to them by American industrialists. And they have tiny, quirky cars, which I desire more than my next breath. It’s an unbeatable combo, and the only way to compete is to play a different game.
We are going to build mid-sized, boring sedans, and then sell them into the Chinese market in exchange for tiny quirky cars and exotic sports electrics. For our prototype, we have chosen to clone the Plymouth Volare. Panel gap is actually better than the original car by far, because we’ve used CNC machining (an old 3D printer we found in the dumpster, with a plasma cutter duct-taped to the end of it) to produce immaculate replicas of the original panel. And our welder is only high on modern synthetic drugs, not the impure and unpredictable strains of the 1960s. That means consistency, and a return on your investment.
Do we think that the Chinese market will buy these cars? There’s a pretty good chance. They sport a lot of features that every market wants. Four wheels. A steering wheel. A trunk. And if the doors are closed and the windows are rolled up, you probably won’t get wet in the rain.
Powertrain is a problem, we agree. It’s a lot of startup cost to open a factory that is capable of manufacturing to the precision tolerances required to produce an internal combustion engine. That’s why we picked the Volare. Those cars came with an un-killable slant-six engine. They’re so unkillable, actually, that we didn’t have to build new ones, just pull ‘em of the junkyard and spray-paint ‘em: they’re good to a few million kilometers, so there’s no need to actually do a rebuild. That’s recycling, which is environmentally friendly (if you don’t think too hard about what’s in the spray cans we’re using.)
Last, investors shouldn’t fret about trade secrets. While these cars haven’t been made for a half-century, there’s not enough of them left in existence to use as a reference to copy from. Any imitators will have to buy at least one of our cars, and maybe two or three, if our quality control doesn’t get better. That’s called guaranteed sales.
There’s been a lot of fear about American workers leaking secrets to China, as opposed to the more traditional format where American managers sell them in large chunks to China instead. Here at Switch Industries, we guarantee our investors that none of us know how to dial long distance. Half of our employees are too young to even have seen a phone, and they definitely don’t use email. Maybe a few of them might know how to switch to Pinyin on their computer keyboards, so we’ve pried the control key off of every keyboard in the office.

So recently I learned about Vagrants in Dark Souls.
Just. What.
Vagrants are little crab monsters created in your game in online mode if other players die and lose a lot of souls and humanity (like a LOT lot). If the Vagrant is not encountered and killed by you, it will continue to drift to other player's games until someone finds and kills it.
The chances for a Vagrant to be created are so low, a vast majority of players is never even going to see one. Yet there's multiple variants of them, some of them are friendly, some of them are hostile, each with a unique loot table. Because why not? Because that's the kind of game this is.
I fully understand why this game is so fiercely beloved.
You can tell the devs had a million ideas for this game and put in a lot of effort to make sure it never gets repetitive. There's always something new. Always something to keep things interesting and keep you engaged.
There's the Catacombs with the skeleton enemies that instantly revive unless you find and kill the necromancers or bring a blessed weapon.
There's the Tomb of the Giants that you need to find a light source to navigate it with because it's so dark.
There's Anor Londo, which takes place mainly indoors and you end up opening little doors not knowing what's behind them (and sometimes you open a door and there's a Silver Knight behind it, just standing there, looking at you awkwardly and you can just close that door again if you want like an old Eddie Izzard bit).
There's New Londo with its Ghost Enemies that you can't hit unless you're cursed or find a rare cursed weapon.
There's Blighttown with all the poison and environmental hazards.
There's the Painted World which is INSIDE A PAINTING! YOU GET SUCKED INTO A PAINTING! THis is SO COOL! And this is just a little sub-region in this game. It's optional even! Some players will never find it if they don't read a guide! (And this was apparently a demo level and the devs ended up putting all the stuff in there that didn't fit anywhere else because they liked all the stuff they made so why not find a use for it and then they have the fluffy dragon lady living in there tell you that this is a place where things and people go that were rejected don't have anywhere else to stay and asks you to be kind to them somehow making this place so *profound*??? (Still killing all the toxic zombies though, screw them.))
There's Sen's Fortress which is a classic, pulpy dungeon filled with traps, including rolling boulders.
There's the Crystal Caves with it's invisible floors.
There the Dukes Archives where you use levers to make new parts of the level accessible while making other parts inaccessible.
Do all of these things work perfectly? Nah (fuck the Crystal Caves and their fucking invisible floors fucking octopus dragon and his shitty fucking invisible floors :))))))) )
But that doesn't detract from the love I have for a team of creatives having a million unique ideas and being able to cram as many of them in their game as they could just because they thought it would be cool.
Many, many parts of this are rather janky but you can tell it was made with so much love and I love it.
