I FINISHED THE THING (part 1)!!!

My brother's gf asked me for a sort of book-shaped container to put in her bookshelf as a Christmas gift, so she can put bookmarks and other things inside it. She wanted it to be Gideon themed and wanted me to design the cover, including the Ninth skull and a bone design plus the logo title, also asked for all the skulls of the houses in the spine (this was a lot of work so if you don't like how they turned out, don't tell me) and also wanted me to do the back blurb in the style of my recaps (here's what it says).

It took me longer than I thought it would but here we are, I really hope she likes it. I added felt in the bottom so it doesn't harm the bookshelf and it is less likely to slide or move. For some process description and photos, here's the read more.

I built the base with mdf wood and glued the pieces together, then used cold porcelain to sculpt the book over it. I designed the illustrations and drew them on pencil when it dried, then painted it all (the text for the back cover took a WHILE). Once dried, I varnished and then glued the felt piece in the bottom.

Troi: Not only is she hitting the elaborate Betazoid pipe her mom sent her, she is recommending edibles to anxious crew members. By far the biggest stoner on the Enterprise.

Worf: No. If it’s not prune juice or blood wine, he doesn’t want it… Okay, he tried smoking with Deanna ONCE and hated it.

Dr. Crusher: In her youth she dabbled with edibles but was never a smoker. She prescribes medical marijuana (only ever edibles) w/ Troi’s recommendation to her patients.

Wesley: He always said he would be straight edge his entire life, but then he went to Starfleet Academy…We all know the rest.

Guinan: She’s either straight edge or a plug for the Enterprise. I’m not sure. But if I had to go through the shit she has, I sure as hell would be rolling blunts in Ten Forward.

Yar: She most definitely got smoked, but not in the fun way.

O’Brien: No (until DS9 at least).
