I honestly already resigned myself that Izuocha it's going to end up canon, probably next chapter and people are going to hate the series forever just because of that. It is what it is, I don't personally care, I never thought there be any other outcome, this is still a mainstream Shonen manga after all, the main guy and his supposed romantic interested usually enp up together regardless of actual development of that relationship. I know many people will disavow it in rage. I would be pleasantly surprised if hori subverted that but I am not holding my breath.

I had guessed that this next chapter (429) would have been a confession, but not a romantic one.

I figured that Ochako and Izuku would have a talk that serves as a second part to the first cliff scene. And brought up Tsuyu being there since she is part of the confrontation involving Himiko.

Just having read Horikoshi's other works, I didn't see a love confession happening at the end. It didn't happen before in those stories, so for 429, I just didn't see it happening.

I feel like no matter what would have happened in 429 and the last chapter, some of the fandom is still going to act chaotic and aggressive towards other people.

I get it, because it is a Shonen manga, it is expected that the main girl and main boy to get together, have a romance and whatnot.

But I taught myself not to always expect every mangaka will accept those tropes and write then traditionally. Just because it's a Shonen don't mean it has to follow the formula to a T.
