CD longbox for Joy Rides for Shut-Ins by The Cavedogs, released by U.S. label Enigma Records in 1990.

I first discovered The Cavedogs via WFNX’s local music program, Boston Rocks, where their demos were in heavy rotation for most of 1989. I’d go to their gigs (when I could sneak into the rock clubs) and even interviewed them for my high school newspaper.

So when their debut album was released on Enigma Records (home of Game Theory!), it was an event. The band even did a signing at Newbury Comics or Tower Records, which is where I picked up this CD. I opened the longbox then and there for the band members to scrawl all over the CD booklet. But even then, I held onto this little piece of cardboard.

I still love listening to the occasional vinyl, even though they were stopped being produced nearly thirty years ago, there's nothing like hearing the needle crackling as the disc turns. Of course vinyls have made a come back in recent years thank goodness. The disc in this image is a song by my favourite nineties pop band, Enigma. The song is Sadeness Part 1.

Wird heute eine kleine Entdeckungsreise. Gassi Runden Alarm!!! Disclaimer: Was das hier ist? Nachdem ich 2018 diesen kleinen Kalender gekauft hatte, kam mir die Idee, diesen auch wirklich zu „nutzen“. Was ich dann in 2019 auch umsetzte. Außer jeden Tag drauf zu schauen, ein Kalenderblatt abzureißen, nahm ich mir vor, das jeweilige Album am gleichen Tag auch zu hören. Gleichzeitig schaue ich nach ob ich das Album in meiner Sammlung habe und wenn es mir gefällt, oder ich tatsächlich „schwerwiegende“ Lücken in meinem Regal entdecke, dann kauf‘ ich das Album nach. O álbum foi gravado quando todos os integrantes tinham menos de 20 anos, com o baterista Andy Galeon possuindo apenas 14. O álbum é considerado um clássico do gênero #ThrashMetal, listado como número 370 no livro de referência de 2010, Os 500 melhores álbuns de heavy metal de todos os tempos . O título do álbum é considerado uma referencia ao filme #AClockworkOrange de #StanleyKubrick. DAY 5 -- OBSESSION 'Methods Of Madness' Enigma Records 1987 I first heard Obsession in 1990 when I rented Sleepaway Camp II and III from a local video store. This was way before I was into metal but I always loved the song Desperate To Survive which closed out part 2, and Methods Of Madness which opened part 3. As I started my journey into metal during the mid 90's, I found Obsession's debut EP Marshall Law, on autographed vinyl! It wouldn't be for a few more years when I started working at Sam Goody that I was able to special order Methods Of Madness on CD format. From start to finish this album is a ripper, with some of the best high pitched vocals in the genre, catchy riffs with some balls, awesome solos and memorable lyrics.
