#like yeah school is an unending nightmare for children. but I do think that actually having children engage with the things we're supposed#to be teaching them is critical#I'm absolutely sure that my experience is not universal but by and large when I was in school the people that cheated were all people that I#wouldn't trust for anything because they were either socially conservative or actively anti-learning#yes I think kids should have it much easier. I also think that we should impart how critical actual learning is and how critical it is to#engage thoughtfully with the world around you#kids are overworked and kids need to learn how to analyze things are statements that can and should coexist

But the deeper lesson isn’t just about boldness or pioneering—it's about learning to direct your fiery, primal energy into purposeful, conscious action.

I need, need need neeeeed to know who you would picture bar owner price with 😩 picturing bar owner price has me week in the knees. I need more, how would he be around the bar when he was there? Supporting, bossy, silly? The possibilities are endless. 🥰
I'm loving how people are requesting things for the rest of the 141!!
Bar Owner!Price isn't there every day, and most often not during the actual shift. He's there some mornings, already at his desk on the floor above the pub, setting up the next inventory order and dealing out everyone's tips before Simon climbs down from his flat on the third floor. They both grunt at each other, tired and in need of a hot breakfast and some tea.
He helps set up for the shift - he likes being in the kitchen with Soap. He feels bad the man is back there all by himself, even though he says he doesn't mind it. "I get to cuss 'n bitch all I want back 'ere, sir." Still, Price spends a majority of his time back there with him, prepping burger patties and making sure everything is stocked and ready. Gets on his case about updating the menu, but Soap insists the customers like it the way it is.
Price makes an appearance on the floor every now and then, opting to help run food or bartend on the busier nights. He checks in with the regulars, leaning his forearms on the bar with his sleeves rolled to his elbows, laughing and chatting with them and occasionally offering to refill their drinks. Simon grumbles quietly about him being in the way, but Price doesn't take it to heart.
He doesn't stay late. John isn't that old, but he likes to be back at home by a decent hour. One ruined sleep schedule and he's a shot for the rest of the week. He likes to get back to his flat, make himself a sandwich and pour himself some whiskey, and be on on his sofa and reading his book no later than ten in the evening. Routines have always been a part of his military career, and what can he say? Old habits really fo die hard.
Then you came along.
You didn't just rock Simon's world - you'd gotten Price, too. Though introductions could have been smoother (you nearly beat him with a keg when he came in through the back door and scared you), he's grown fond of you. First, as a hard worker and go-getter; then, as a pretty little waitress with a dazzling smile that likes to keep him on his toes. You love poking fun at him, calling him "bossman" or "barmaster" (doesn't make sense to him, since he's hardly behind the bar - but he finds it cute). You tease him for the way he runs your food, then gets stuck at the table for five minutes just chatting up the customers. You ask him things like, "Who do you prefer, Cardi B or Nicki Minaj?" And laugh when he just stares at you with a furrowed brow. He'll happily let you tease him for being an "old" man just to hear your laughter.
Then Simon sent that photo in the group chat, and Price felt something stir in his chest: looking at you, posing all prettily for your picture, working to push your little idea out there and bring in a crowd. He's impressed, but he's also intrigued. He's got his sights on you, and he's dying to figure out more about his waitress.
"'S the post making any headway?" He asks one night, leaning on the bar next to where you sit. Your tips are finished, money waded into the pocket of your apron as you scroll on your phone, sipping on a screwdriver.
"Kinda..." You mumble, a pout on your face, creasing the skin between your eyebrows. "People are seeing it, and there are a few likes, but no one's really engaging. Not sure if this will do well."
Price hums thoughtfully, looking at your lips while you stare at your screen. He's holding back the urge to lean in and take a whiff of your perfume, afraid it might seem just a bit too strange. "Have you tried promoting it?"
You look at him, laying your phone on the bar top. "Well... I could, but..." You wanted to finish with 'it would cost money'. But then, you'd be insinuating that you expected him to pay you. You could boost the post yourself, but you'd rather not spend money on something that might flop.
"'S there a problem?" Price asked, leaning in closer to you.
"I mean... promoting a post costs some money. Like, for it to be advertised to five hundred people, you'd pay around one fifty. And I think, depending on how far you wanted the post to reach - like, literally, how big of a geographic area - that would cost even more."
Price chuckles. "You do realize how much business you've brought in since you've joined the team, hmm?"
That makes your cheeks warm, pressing your lips into a line to avoid grinning like an idiot at the compliment. "I mean... sure..."
"Go upstairs to the office and get my wallet." he says, standing up from his seat at the bar.
You watch with a stupefied expression as he walks to the POS and prints some blank receipt paper. "You- you mean it? Are you sure?"
He sits on a barstool near the kitchen door. "Wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it. Hurry up- before I change my mind."
You don't need to be told twice. You drop your phone onto the bar and bolt towards the stairs - you stop yourself, running back to where Price sits and hugging him from behind. He lets out a surprise grunt as you do your best to smother him.
"You're the best boss ever!" you squeal. Then, just like that - you're off to the office upstairs. He preens over the compliment as he hears you leaping two steps at a time.
"Be careful." he calls over his shoulder. He sits there a moment, staring at the paper in front of him. He's surprised he hadn't accidentally thrown you off of him purely out of instinct, but he can't say he isn't absolutely delighted by the hug. It lingers in his mind, his chest still remembering your arms around him. He shakes his head, reaching forward to grab a pen from behind the bar.
His eyes meet Simon's - the man is glaring daggers, his head framed by the window in the kitchen door, mask hanging from his ear. His lips are pulled down into quite possibly the angriest frown Price has ever seen. His nostrils flare as he exhales - Price wonders what sort of insults are flying through the bartender's head right now.
He glares right back. If Simon wants something, he'll give it to him. But he'll make him ask for it, like any normal human being. John isn't going to surrender just because Ghost is huffing and puffing, expecting his boss to back away from you just because he's stomping his foot and looking menacing. But how can he be sure that Simon really wants you, more than he thinks Price deserves you, if the lad won't say anything? It's only reasonable, right?
"If you want something, Simon, say something." Price calls out, never backing down from Simon's jealous gaze.
He huffs again and disappears from the kitchen window. Price can hear shuffling and banging, followed by Soap's irritated voice: "Oi, I got it! Get yourself outta my kitchen n' go your own shite, 'fore you break my stuff."
Price sighs, scribbling down some numbers on the paper in front of him. He'll cave, eventually.

Headcanons for when Wise is in a relationship
Thoughtful Gestures: Wise is attentive to his partner's likes and dislikes. He often surprises them with small, thoughtful gifts or gestures, like bringing their favorite snacks or planning a special date around their interests.
Aware of his partner's love for classic films, Wise plans a special movie night in his bedroom, creating a cozy atmosphere with extra pillows, blankets, and their favorite snacks. When his partner enters the room, they’re pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful setup. "Wow, this is amazing! You remembered my favorite movies and snacks!" they exclaim, eyes lighting up with excitement. Smiling warmly, Wise hands them a bowl of popcorn. "Of course I did," he replies affectionately. "I wanted us to have a special night together." As they settle in beside him, Wise wraps an arm around them, and they lean their head on his shoulder with a grateful smile. "You're always so thoughtful," they say softly. Wise responds with a gentle kiss on their forehead, whispering, "I just want to make you happy."
Deep Conversations: Being a thoughtful and philosophical person, Wise loves engaging in deep, meaningful conversations with his partner. Whether discussing life, dreams, or their favorite books and movies, he enjoys connecting on an intellectual and emotional level.
Wise and his partner are sitting on his bed, discussing a thought-provoking documentary they recently watched. Thoughtfully rubbing his chin, Wise leans back against the headboard, his gaze focused and intense. "It's fascinating how different perspectives can reshape our understanding of history. It makes you think about the narratives we accept as truth, doesn't it?" he says. His partner nods, their expression equally thoughtful. "Absolutely. It challenges what we consider to be the truth and makes us question our own beliefs and biases." Wise gently takes their hand, his eyes warm and sincere. "I love these moments with you," he says softly. "It feels like we're exploring the world together, discovering new ways of seeing things."
Protective Nature: Wise has a strong protective instinct. He's always looking out for his partner's well-being, whether it's making sure they're safe or supporting them during difficult times. He's not overbearing but offers a comforting presence.
The couple walk home along a dimly lit street after a late-night outing. Noticing his partner shivering slightly, Wise quietly slips off his jacket and drapes it over their shoulders, gently pulling them closer. "I can't have you catching a cold," he says softly, his voice filled with concern. His partner smiles appreciatively, snuggling into the warmth of his jacket. "Thank you for always looking out for me," they say, their eyes meeting his with warmth and affection. Wise's gaze softens as he leans down to press a gentle kiss to their forehead. "It's because I care about you," he promises, his voice a comforting murmur. "I'll always look out for you."
Acts of Service: Wise expresses his love through acts of service. He enjoys doing little things to make his partner's life easier, like cooking a meal, helping with errands, or just being there to listen after a long day.
The kitchen is filled with the comforting aroma of a homemade meal, and the table is carefully set. Wise finishes the final touches, smiling as his partner enters. "I made your favorite dish," he says warmly, "thought it might be a nice surprise after your long day." Moved, they wrap their arms around him, resting their head against his back. "You're amazing. Thank you," they murmur gratefully. Turning to face them, Wise gently cups their face, planting a soft kiss on their temple. "Anything for you," he whispers, leading them to the table with a smile. "Let's enjoy this together—I want to hear all about your day."
Gentle and Supportive: Wise is incredibly gentle and supportive, always ready to lend a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on. He's the type to offer words of encouragement and reassurance, making his partner feel cherished and valued.
After a tough day, Wise notices his partner sitting on the couch, visibly tired and down. He gently sits beside them, taking their hand and softly stroking the back of it with his thumb. "Hey," he begins soothingly, "I know today was hard. Do you want to talk about it?" Grateful for his presence, they admit, "It's just been a long day. Everything seemed to go wrong." Wise listens intently, wrapping an arm around their shoulders for support. "It's okay," he reassures them gently, pressing a tender kiss to their temple. "I'm here for you, no matter what."
Shared Interests: He loves sharing his interests with his partner, whether it's watching documentaries, reading books, or ideas. He also enjoys learning about their interests, making an effort to engage in activities they love.
On a cozy afternoon, Wise and his partner sat comfortably on his bed, watching a documentary on the TV, surrounded by open books and a laptop that reflected their shared interests. With bright eyes, Wise gestured toward the screen, saying, "This part is fascinating! It's incredible how they captured such detailed footage of the underwater ecosystem." His partner smiled and nodded, clearly enjoying the experience. Reaching for a marine life book, Wise added, "Maybe we can dive into these topics later, and I'd love to hear more about that art exhibit you mentioned." Grinning, his partner leaned closer. "I'd love that. Maybe we can try painting afterward?" Wise laughed softly, wrapping an arm around them and pulling them closer as he placed a gentle kiss on their forehead. "Absolutely. It's great exploring new things with you."
Affectionate: While he may start off reserved, Wise becomes more openly affectionate as the relationship deepens. He enjoys holding hands, hugging, and cuddling, finding comfort in physical closeness.
One evening, after a long day, Wise and his partner settled onto his bed, the weight of the day easing away in each other’s presence. Without a word, Wise gently pulled them closer, wrapping his arms around them in a warm embrace. They rested their head on his chest as he softly ran his fingers through their hair, a contented smile on his lips. "I’ve been looking forward to this all day," Wise whispered, his voice filled with quiet affection. His partner snuggled closer, holding him gently. "Me too," they murmured. Wise leaned down slightly, brushing his nose tenderly against theirs. "You’re my favorite part of the day," he admitted quietly, his words carrying the weight of his emotions.
Romantic Surprises: Wise likes planning romantic surprises, whether it's a spontaneous date night, a homemade dinner, or leaving sweet notes for his partner to find. He enjoys making his partner feel special and loved.
Throughout the day, Wise carefully planned a series of romantic surprises, leaving sweet notes for his partner to find. Each note expressed his love and appreciation, with messages like, “Just a quick reminder of how much you mean to me. Your smile lights up my day, and your laughter is the sweetest sound. Love, Wise.” When his partner found a note tucked inside their bag, they couldn’t help but smile. "You always know how to make me smile," they said warmly. Wise grinned, pleased by their reaction. "I love surprising you. It's my way of reminding you how much I care," he said, his voice filled with affection. His partner wrapped their arms around him, giving him a warm hug. "Thank you for always thinking of me," they murmured. As Wise gazed into their eyes, he held them close, their foreheads touching for a moment. He leaned in, and his lips met theirs, soft and tender at first, then deepening with warmth, savoring the closeness. When he finally pulled back, his eyes were soft and sincere. "I'll always find ways to show you how much you mean to me.”
Loyal and Committed: Wise is deeply loyal and committed. Once he's in a relationship, he is fully devoted to his partner, valuing trust and honesty above all. He's not afraid of commitment and looks forward to building a future together.
As they sat together, Wise and his partner began discussing future plans with a sense of excitement and anticipation. His partner hesitantly glanced down at their intertwined hands and asked, "Do you ever think about... us, in the future?" Wise met their gaze, his eyes steady and filled with love. Reaching up, he gently tucked a strand of hair behind their ear. "All the time," he replied, his voice soft yet firm. "I'm here for the long haul." His partner smiled, their eyes shining with emotion as they squeezed his hand gently. "I am too," they said, their voice filled with conviction and warmth. Wise leaned in, his hands moving to cradle their face tenderly. He paused for a moment, their breaths mingling, before pressing a tender kiss to their lips. Pulling back slightly, he murmured, "Then we're in this together," his words a vow as much as a promise.
Encourages Growth: Wise is deeply invested in his partner’s personal growth and well-being. He encourages them to pursue their passions, supports their goals, and provides constructive feedback when needed.
One evening, Wise and his partner were sitting together, discussing a dream project his partner had been hesitant to start. Sensing their uncertainty, Wise gently took their hand, his gaze warm and reassuring. "You know, I’ve seen how passionate you are about this. I think you should go for it," he said with quiet conviction. His partner looked at him, doubts still lingering. "But what if I fail?" they asked softly. Wise smiled, squeezing their hand. "Even if things don’t go exactly as planned, you’ll learn and grow from it. And I’ll be right here, supporting you every step of the way," he assured them. Feeling a surge of confidence, his partner nodded, a small smile tugging at their lips. "Thank you for always believing in me," they whispered. Leaning in, Wise pressed a gentle kiss to their forehead. "We’re in this together. Let’s make those dreams a reality," he murmured, lovingly encouraging them.
Playful Side: Despite his serious nature, Wise has a playful side that comes out more in a relationship. He enjoys teasing his partner lightly and sharing moments of laughter and joy.
During a cozy evening in the living room, Wise and his partner sat on the couch. While his partner was engrossed in a book, Wise glanced over with a mischievous glint in his eyes and gently nudged them with his elbow. "Hey, what’s so interesting in there that you're ignoring me?" he teased. His partner looked up with a smile, clearly amused. "Just a really good part. Why, are you feeling neglected?" Wise feigned a dramatic sigh, placing a hand over his heart. "Terribly so. I might just wither away from lack of attention." His partner laughed softly, setting the book aside and poking him lightly. "Alright, you have my attention now. What are you going to do with it?" Grinning, Wise swiftly scooped them up, pulling them into his lap. "I think I'll keep it right here," he said, planting a playful kiss on their nose, his eyes sparkling with affection.
Communication: Wise places a high value on communication. He's always willing to talk through any issues or misunderstandings, ensuring that both he and his partner are on the same page and feel understood.
Late at night, after a minor disagreement, Wise and his partner found themselves in the bedroom. Sensing the lingering tension, Wise sat on the edge of the bed, facing his partner with earnest concern. He gently took their hand, his voice calm but firm. "I never want us to go to bed upset. Let's talk about this and make sure we both feel understood." His partner sighed softly, their expression softening. "You're right," they agreed, sitting beside him. "I don't like going to bed with things unresolved either." With a small, encouraging smile, Wise squeezed their hand reassuringly, cupping their cheek gently with his other hand. "I care about how you feel and what you think," he said warmly. "Let's figure this out together." As the tension eased, his partner nodded, their voice filled with appreciation. "Thank you for always being willing to talk things through." Wise leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to their forehead, his thumb softly brushing their cheek. "It's important to me," he murmured. "I love you, and I want us to always be on the same page."

Summer School: Daniel LaRusso x Reader
Tagging: @kmc1989 @kiwiwatermelonsuger @sadgenderfluidmaniac @junghwansy2k
Daniel meets you because of a summer arts program. Him and Amanda have been divorced over a year and they’ve been trying to figure out a way to prise Anthony away from his screen. It’s gotten worse since the split, his son has retreated entirely into the world of video games.
Daniel can’t help but feel responsible for that. He was the one that told Amanda he was unhappy, the one that made her realise that she was unhappy too. In the beginning he thought maybe if he’d kept his mouth shut they could have persevered but time has given him clarity, they were friends more than lovers and Daniel, he wants passion, he wants romance. He deserves that and so does Amanda.
It's Amanda that finds the program, it allows students to try out different art forms over a six week period. Painting, pottery, metal work. Anthony protests at first but they present a united front, if he doesn’t attend he spends the entire summer without any screen time at all.
The first week Anthony complains relentlessly. Painting is very much not his thing and Daniel happens to agree, he’s all for self-expression but Anthony’s work, it’s beyond terrible.
The same goes for pottery, he comes home with a bowl that’s slanted to one side with weird, wonky edges. Daniel takes it into work and uses it to hold his paperclips.
By the time week three rolls around Daniel expects more of the same, he’s used to Anthony’s sullen moods, he’s been sulking ever since summer school started. Today however when he gets into Daniel’s car, it’s the most animated he’s seen him in years. His eyes are bright, he’s excited. He shows Daniel the motorcycle he’s made out of nuts bolts and wrenches and he’s completely blown away.
“Jak’s been giving me tips on making my own designs.” He tells his father proudly. “We need to hit the art supply store so I can get a sketch book and some pencils.”
That night Daniel calls Amanda after dinner.
“It’s like he’s a completely different kid. I don’t know who this Jak guy is but he’s worked wonders on him. He hasn’t looked at a screen all night.” He tells her as he watches Anthony sketching out design ideas on the kitchen table. “I feel like we should be gifting him a car.”
“Maybe we go smaller.” She says thoughtfully. “Start with some beers from that microbrewery you like. We don’t wanna scare him off by coming on a little too strong.”
“Yea I think I have a six pack somewhere, I’ll drop it off tomorrow morning.” Daniel murmurs, his palm rubbing over the back of his neck. “I’ll ask if he does classes outside of the summer school. I’d like to keep the momentum going.”
He drops Anthony off a little early the next morning so he can pop in and meet the man who has managed to engage his son. He has the six pack of mixed microbrews tucked under his arm when he raps his knuckles on the door and pokes his head inside.
“Hey, I’m looking for Jak.” He says to the woman sorting through the cardboard box of random metal bits and pieces.
“You’ve found her.” You say looking up from your task.
“You’re Jak?” He asks, his dark eyebrows raising as he drinks you in.
You are the furthest thing from metalwork artist that he ever expected. You’re breathtaking for starters, he means that literally, the oxygen catches in his throat when he looks at you.
“You were expecting a man.” You say in an amused tone before gesturing towards the box of beers. “Starting a little early.”
“Ah no.” Daniel says his cheeks colouring just a little as he sets them on the desk beside him. “They’re for you, a thank you for the work you’re doing with Anthony. It’s the first time I’ve seen him engaged with anything other than a video game since the divorce.”
He watches as you approach, his mouth going dry. There’s a sensuality to your movements, a gracefulness and it sends heat flushing through Daniel as he watches your fingertips caress the glass of each of the bottles as you study the flavours.
“A nice variation.” You say before slotting them back in the cardboard. “You’ve picked some of my favourites Mr LaRusso.”
“Danny.” He asserts and the edges of your mouth tip up into a smile.
Something blossoms in his chest and it feels like he’s seeing the sun rise for the very first time. This is what he was missing with Amanda, this passion, this fire.
“Ok Danny.” You say and he loves the way his name rolls off his lips. “What can I help you with?”
“I wanted to know if you do sessions like this after the summer? Anthony, he’s really excited about working with you. My ex-wife and I would really like to keep the momentum going if we can, make sure he has a creative outlet.” Danny tells you as you lean back against the desk.
“I run sessions out of my studio in Santa Monica. Each student works on their own project, they start with their own concept and then develop it, I’m there to show them the techniques, help them make it a reality and they take those skills into the next project.” You inform Danny as he settles beside you. Your perfume floods his senses, something floral with citrus notes, it reminds him of the first days of spring. “The stuff we’re learning in class this week is very basic and Anthony has taken to it really well. I think his interest in mechanics and the way things work definitely helps.”
“Mechanics?” Daniel repeats, crossing his arms over his chest. This is the first time he’s hearing anything about Anthony taking after him in that respect.
“Not the traditional concept like cars and engines, I mean more like cause and effect." You explain as you tuck your hands into the pockets of the cobalt blue blazer you’re wearing. “It’s why he’s so interested in games like Minecraft, he likes to see the effect that one thing has on another, kinda like Mousetrap. He’s trying to figure out how to make things move in his sculpture work.”
“I honestly had no idea he was into any of this stuff.” Daniel says rubbing his palm over the back of his neck.
“Kids don’t really share a lot with their parents at this age.” You reassure him before picking up a post it note and scribbling on it. “Why don’t you come by my studio, get a feel for what I do?”
You hand him the post it note and he studies the address, this thumb tracing lightly over the writing.
“I’ll do that.” He tells you as the bell rings, signalling the start of class. "I’ll try to stop by tonight.”

Being Kenans little sister and when he joins the Turkey NT and they have a little get-together, she meets Arda and they both develop a hard crush on each other. The following days Arda asks Kenan stuff about her and Kenan soon notices he's into his little sis bla bla bla so Arda gets green light from big bro but don't you dare hurt her you hear me 😁
THE GREEN LIGHT - ARDA GÜLER
In which Arda finds himself drawn to Y/N, the younger sister of his new teammate
Arda Güler x Kenan Yildiz’s sister! reader
︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿
As my older brother Kenan's career took off with the Turkish National Team, our family's excitement bubbled over.
To celebrate, we organized a small gathering at our family home. Kenan had invited his new teammates.
I mingled with the group, feeling a mix of pride for my brother and curiosity about the players who had become his extended family.
Among them was Arda Güler, a standout player from Real Madrid.
I watched Arda from across the room, intrigued by his charisma and the way he effortlessly engaged with everyone around him. When our eyes finally met, he flashed a warm smile that instantly put me at ease.
"So, you're Kenan's sister?" Arda asked as he approached me, his tone friendly and genuine.
"Yeah, that's me," I replied with a smile, grateful for the opportunity to chat with him. "It's nice to finally meet you, Arda."
"Your brother speaks highly of you." Arda asked, flashing a warm smile that made my heart skip a beat. "So, how does it feel to have a brother on the national team?"
"It's surreal, honestly," I admitted with a laugh. "But I'm incredibly proud of him. He's worked so hard to get here."
Arda nodded thoughtfully, his eyes reflecting a mix of admiration and camaraderie. "Kenan's a great guy," he said. "You must be really close."
"Yeah, we are," I replied, smiling at the thought of our childhood antics and shared memories. "He's always been there for me."
As the evening progressed, Arda and I found ourselves gravitating towards each other in conversation.
We discussed everything from football tactics to our favorite travel destinations, discovering shared interests and laughing over silly stories.
Over the next few days, Arda's presence lingered in my thoughts. He'd send a text asking about my day, share funny stories from training sessions, or simply check in to see how I was doing. Each interaction bringing us closer.
Little did I know that my name popped up frequently in his conversations with Kenan. He'd ask innocent questions about me—my favorite music, what books I liked to read, and even my thoughts on certain movies.
Kenan, always perceptive, soon caught on to Arda's growing interest.
Then one evening, at training, Kenan pulled Arda aside for a private conversation.
"Arda, can I have a word with you?" Kenan started, his tone firm yet not devoid of warmth.
"Sure, Kenan," Arda replied, sensing the gravity of the moment as they moved to a more secluded spot.
Kenan studied Arda for a moment, gauging his sincerity and intentions. "I've noticed you've taken an interest in my sister," he began, his voice carrying a hint of protective brotherly instinct.
Arda nodded, his expression earnest. "She's amazing, Kenan. I've enjoyed getting to know her these past few days."
Kenan nodded thoughtfully, knowing his sister's heart was precious to him. "I trust you, Arda. You seem like a good guy, and I can see how much she likes you," he said, his tone softening slightly.
"I care about her a lot," Arda admitted, his eyes reflecting his genuine feelings. "I wouldn't do anything to hurt her."
Kenan nodded, reassured by Arda's sincerity. "Just remember, she means the world to me. If you're going to be with her, you need to treat her right," he emphasized, his voice firm but filled with brotherly concern.
"I understand, Kenan," Arda replied sincerely. "I won't take her trust or feelings lightly."
Kenan placed a reassuring hand on Arda's shoulder. "Good. Just know that if you ever do," he paused, his gaze firm, "you'll have me to worry about.”
Arda nodded solemnly, appreciating Kenan's protective stance. "I won't let you down," he vowed, his voice steady with determination.
"Hey, Kenan," Arda began, pulling out his phone. "Mind if I make a quick call?"
Kenan nodded, curious but not entirely surprised. He watched as Arda stepped away a few paces and dialed Y/N number.
The breeze carried snippets of their conversation back to Kenan as he stretched his muscles.
"Hey, it's me," Arda said warmly. "Yeah, I'm with Kenan. Listen, I talked to him, and... he's cool with it."
Kenan could sense the nervous excitement in Arda's voice as he listened intently, pretending not to eavesdrop.
"Yeah, he said it's okay," Arda continued, a smile evident in his tone. "I know, right? I'm really happy too."
Kenan couldn't help but grin at Arda's obvious happiness. He respected Arda and believed he was genuine, but as a big brother, he couldn't help but feel protective.
After a few more minutes of conversation, Arda bid Y/N goodbye and joined Kenan again. He could see the anticipation in Arda's eyes, mixed with a hint of relief.
"Everything okay?" Kenan asked casually, though he already knew the answer.
Arda nodded, unable to contain his smile. "Yeah, she's really happy. Thanks, Kenan," he said gratefully. "I appreciate you trusting me with this."
Kenan clapped a hand on Arda's shoulder, his expression serious but warm. "Just remember what I said earlier," he reminded him. "She's important to me, so don't mess it up."
Arda nodded earnestly. "I won't, Kenan. I promise."
With a nod of approval from Kenan, Arda felt a sense of relief and gratitude. He knew that having Kenan's blessing meant a lot, and he was determined to show Y/N just how much she meant to him.

Windfall
Summary: You are the last unmarried lady. A spinster.
Pairing: Royal!Stucky x Royal!Reader
Warnings: 30+ reader, modern royal au, old fashioned society when it comes to the age of unmarried women (kinda), polyamorous, throuple marriages are allowed in this world, mentions of rejection, the reader is a loner, bitchy ladies, established mlm relationship,
Square filled for @allcapsbingo: B5: Loneliness
Words: 940+
The ladies sneer when you pass them by. You don’t spare them a glance, aware that they do not like you.
People always fear what they do not understand. Like a woman who wants more in life than being her husband's arm candy.
“I don’t know why she holds her head high like that. She’s the last unmarried daughter. Even her younger sibling and almost every cousin are engaged to a gentleman. The last one will be married soon and the poor soul not getting the chance to marry one of the younger ones will settle for the windfall.”
The other women giggle at Lady Dorothy’s words. “You’re right. No one wants the old spinster. A man wants a young woman, a beautiful innocent blossom. Not a withering rose.”
You don’t take their words to heart. They are not wrong. All the gentlemen roaming your parents' house only came for your sister or the cousins your father took in after their parents passed away.
“Lady Y/N,” you sigh when Lady Sharon makes her way toward you. At least she’s kind enough to talk to you in public. “There you are!”
“My dear,” Lord Loki, Sharon’s husband greets you. He bows and presses a chaste kiss to your hand. He’s one of the few men seeing you as more than an old spinster. Loki appreciates your wit. “How have you been?”
“Fine, Lord Loki,” you reply. Unlike the other ladies in the room, you look him straight in the eyes. You’re not the kind of woman cowering in front of a man only because he has a cock between his legs. “I hope you are well too.”
“Very well,” he smiles at his wife. “My brother finally got engaged.”
“Again,” Sharon adds. “He’s a little fickle when it comes to courting for a woman. He should grow up and settle for one lady.”
“I understand him well,” you nod thoughtfully. “It isn’t easy to find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. You should choose with your heart and mind.”
You barely escaped the nagging ladies and their gossip. Now you are hiding at the library to read another book. Loki and Sharon wouldn’t mind. They invited you to use their library when you are around and read as many books as you want to.
Nose burying in another book you don’t recognize someone sneaking inside the library.
“Stevie, you look so good today.” Your eyes flit up when you hear voices behind one of the shelves. “I can’t wait to put my hands on you.”
“Buck, we can’t. Not here.”
Frowning you listen closely. There is commotion behind the shelf, and you are sure, the men are up to no good.
You close the book and get up to find out what’s going on. If someone tries to steal Loki’s books, you will stop them at all costs.
Silently sneaking toward the shelf, you practice your speech in your mind. You’re not shy, but two men can be intimidating. Especially when they try to commit a crime.
You round the shelf, stopping in your tracks as you face the men. Your breath hitches in your throat because the men do not try to steal Loki’s books. No. They are kissing each other passionately.
You recognize the men. James Buchanan Barnes and Steven Grant Rogers. You heard rumors about them being in a relationship but never talked to them before.
You swallow thickly. What can you do? Say something? Tell them to not do such a thing at Loki’s library.
The only thing you can do is turn back around and walk toward the armchair to read your book. If you leave the library now, they will know you saw them. If you say something, they will get mad.
So, you sit back down, open your book, and start reading. You can still hear them kiss and moan but try to blend the noises they make out. It’s inappropriate to listen to their lovemaking. Not to mention sinful and forbidden.
You close your eyes and bite your lower lip. Their moans go straight to your lower half, the sacred garden you only touch at night, hidden in your bedroom.
“Aw, Bucky. Look at that pretty angel touching herself for us. Do you think we should help her out?”
Your eyes snap open as you feel eyes on you. You didn’t realize that the book slipped from your fingers and that you bunched up your skirt to slip your hand into your panties.
“I-no. I didn’t,” you lick your dry lips. “I wouldn’t… no. This is a misunderstanding.” You furiously shake your head.
The men watch you move your fingers, smirking as you cannot stop yourself from touching your clit.
“Doll, you are rubbing your sweet pearl for us, huh?” Bucky’s eyes are glued to your spread legs. “Tell me, did you like watching Stevie and me?”
You nod.
“Did it make your petals all wet?” Steve husks. “Did you touch yourself because you wanted us to touch you?”
You nod again.
“Stevie,” Bucky whispers lowly. “Do you know who she is? The angel no one dared to marry. It’s said that she’s a fiery little thing. Untamable and mouthy.”
“I’m not!” You grunt. “How dare you say such a thing!”
“Fiery and naughty, my beloved,” Steve cups his lover’s face to kiss him deeply. He moans into Bucky’s mouth, making you gasp loudly. “I guess she needs two strong pairs of hands to tame her.”
“Indeed,” Bucky smirks. “I bet her father will be so happy when she gets married to not one but two Lords making her an honest woman…”

the aquarium༄˚๑ ˖˚
Synopsis: One quiet afternoon, fate brings you, a mysterious widow, across Shiu Kong's path at the aquarium.
Words:775
CW:xFem!reader, fluff and smoking and an ankle injury, that's it really
A wispy plume of blackened smoke trails upward, hanging in midair before a proceeding exhale from its creator allows it to dissapate completely.
Shiu stares pensively, thoughtfully at the slow moving school of tropical fish, shimmers of broken refracted light casting an inviting glow marked with teal from the aquarium around his sharp features.
He is alone, seeking temporary solace in his reliable haven of one of Tokyo's miraculously less busier aquariums, perhaps due to the fact that he was here during peak business hours, when most couldn't be ripped away from their desk cubicles. But, for him, an exception needed to be made on this quiet Wednesday afternoon.
Outward pressure from clients and being the shot messenger one times too many causes him to give into the need to retreat to the simplicity of a cigarette and the slow moving tranquility of sea life. Submerged peacefully in a glass portal. Worries that melted away, subsiding back to the awaiting world outside in unconscious ritual as he inhaled and promptly exhaled the bitter clouds.
The click of a mystery woman's high heels behind him jerk him out of his bubble, quickly extinguishing the flame but allowing the wrinkled cigarette to fall to the ground completely in a hasty pile of ash when he heard the distressed sound of your yelp, only coming down onto your rolled ankle with a pained cry.
"Easy, miss!" He engages in a brief tussle with the unfortunate victim unaware of the wet floor sign propped in the middle of the exhibit.
He locks eyes with her, and he is startled to discover the owner is exceedingly striking.
You're clad in black from head to toe, a black sweater over a black dress that hit you mid thigh with now slightly torn pantyhose from your unlucky spill. Your inviting lips in a pout and eyes that gripped him immediately with an innate desire to intricately know the thoughts that brewed behind them.
"You okay, dollface?" He asks gently.
"Fine." You retort, trying to dispell the obvious look of pain on your face.
"Let's get you patched up."
---
And that is how you wound up underneath the blaring florescent lights of the hospital waiting room, engaging in broken small chatter with him as you clutched the ice pack to your battered ankle in a wheelchair.
The warmth you experienced the last time you looked into a pair of brown eyes was one of such intensity and tenderness, you believed it could not be replicated anywhere.
Yet here it was so clear as day before you, possessed in the new eyes of your handsome suited savior.
The only marked difference was the playfulness, an intrigue marked with mischief you could place in his beautiful stare, in contrast to the honeyed gaze of your deceased lover before him.
"That was quite a spill you took back there, doll. And no thanks to those tiny heels." He smiles with his lips closed, corner of his mouth tugged into a grin with an undeniable air of charm underneath his black mustache. It was almost smug, as though he could sense his effect he had on you. It left you frustrated, but undoubtedly captivated.
"Oh please." You wrinkle your nose. "They look good on me."
"That they do, doll face. You're absolutely right about that." He leans back with his arms crossed.
"Beauty is pain, I guess." You shrug.
"What are you doing after this? Can I call someone for you?" He offers.
"I need to return to work." You wince.
"Well, let me get you something to eat, for all the trouble you've been through." He prods, face pulled back into that smoulder. "Please? I don't bite."
"I don't take offers from strange men."
"Shiu Kong, darling. My name is Shiu."
You pause at the abrupt retreat to his delayed formalities, but he bestows you another wide smile when your soft palm hesitantly meets his in a modest handshake, his voice lowered to an even more intimate tone.
"I'm not so strange now, am I doll face?"
You shake him off, and at that moment the nurse comes in, with a murmured apology and polite smile to whisk you away for further examination and X-rays.
Shiu's smile fades temporarily, but nods warmly at you, eyes not leaving yours as your head turned before the office door shut promptly behind you.
He sighs at the missed connection, but his attention becomes drawn to a strange scribble on the back of the discarded aquarium ticket that laid on the table between you, his heart hammering in his chest when he realizes it's your phone number written in black ink.

Some Days Are Diamonds, Some Days Are Stone- s.r. x reader
I found a new needle for my turntable so I’ve only been listening to John Denver recently.
Spencer's life after prison was a delicate balance, a constant tug-of-war between reclaiming the normalcy he craved and grappling with the shadows that prison had cast over him. Some days, he was able to push through the memories, the trauma, and the pain, but other days, it was all he could do to get out of bed. You stood by him through it all, a steadfast presence in the storm that still sometimes raged within him.
On the good days, Spencer seemed almost like his old self—calm, reflective, eager to engage with the world around him. He would wake up early, slipping out of bed with a lightness that had been absent for so long. Those mornings were precious, filled with quiet moments where the two of you would sit together in the living room, your legs tangled as you sipped coffee and talked about everything and nothing at all. He would lean back against the cushions, his arm draped casually around your shoulders, drawing comfort simply from having you close.
Some days, he’d suggest going out—just the two of you. You’d wander through the streets, hand in hand, taking in the sights of the city like tourists rediscovering its hidden gems. He loved going to dinner, savoring the taste of food that wasn't served on a plastic tray, the ambiance of a cozy restaurant that offered a semblance of normal life. The flicker of candlelight at your favorite Italian spot often brought a softness to his face, his eyes reflecting the warm glow as he listened to you talk about your day, nodding thoughtfully as he twirled spaghetti on his fork.
There were visits to museums, where Spencer would lose himself in the art, tracing the history behind each piece with that same enthusiasm you remembered from before everything changed. He'd stand in front of a painting, his hand lightly touching his chin, deep in thought, and you couldn't help but smile, seeing a glimpse of the Spencer you fell in love with—the one who could get lost in his own mind for hours, analyzing every brushstroke, every hue.
And the libraries—oh, how he loved the libraries. He would wander the aisles with you, fingers trailing along the spines of books, occasionally pulling one out to read a passage to you, his voice gentle, soothing. Those days were peaceful, filled with the quiet joy of rediscovery, of building a new life together, one moment at a time.
But not every day was a good day.
There were mornings when Spencer couldn’t find the strength to get out of bed. You’d wake up beside him, feeling the tension in his body, the way he curled in on himself as if trying to make himself small, invisible. Those were the days when the weight of everything he’d been through was too much to bear, when the memories of prison, the fear, and the loneliness crashed over him like a tidal wave.
He would lie there, staring at the ceiling, his mind far away. Sometimes, he would start to cry, silently at first, as if ashamed to let the emotions out. You’d reach out to him, gently placing a hand on his back, and he would turn into you, burying his face in your shoulder, his body wracked with sobs. All you could do was hold him, letting him release the pain in whatever way he needed to, whispering reassurances in his ear even though you knew they could only do so much.
On those rough days, Spencer would often retreat into himself, locking himself away in your room for hours at a time. He’d close the door, the sound of it shutting a painful echo in the quiet of your home. You’d give him space, knowing he needed to process things on his own, but it never got easier, hearing him cry on the other side of the door, knowing you couldn’t take the pain away.
When he finally emerged, he looked exhausted, eyes red-rimmed and weary, like he’d aged years in just a few hours. He wouldn’t say much on those days, just give you a small, tired smile that broke your heart a little every time. You’d guide him to the couch, making sure he was comfortable, and sit beside him, letting the silence between you be filled with unspoken understanding.
The rough days were hard, but you faced them together, even when Spencer didn’t have the energy to reach out to you. You’d make his favorite tea, read to him from his favorite books, or simply sit beside him, holding his hand, letting him know you were there, that he wasn’t alone.
In time, Spencer would start to come back to you, little by little. He’d start to talk again, to share the thoughts that had been tormenting him, and you’d listen, offering what comfort you could. The good days would return, and you’d cherish them all the more, knowing how fleeting and precious they were.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
You didn’t mean to stare.
That was a lie.
…a half lie.
You liked to watch, but you didn’t mean to latch onto one face in particular when you peered out of your window. You never really had before; perhaps the odd flamboyantly dressed hooker or someone with outrageously done hair, but you couldn’t say you had ever taken notice of someone who seemed so inconsequential.
It was his red hair that made you look twice, at first.
From your little window, above a small tea shop that was run by a family who smelled of jasmine, you first saw that little man who wandered the streets of New York with his picket sign.
“The end is nigh” it said.
The first time you saw it, it made you laugh a little. So pessimistic. You wondered why he felt the need to forecast such a statement to the city. Was the end all he could see? Was there no good in his eyes?
Silly, you thought, to busy yourself with a stranger’s story that you had fabricated entirely in your mind.
But then the second time you saw him, those words made you think.
Perhaps it was close- the end, that is. The more and more that chauvinistic Dooms Day Clock ticked, the more you started to believe that man.
It was inevitable.
Perhaps it was close, too.
You wondered if he was unstable- mentally or otherwise. Wandering the streets when he should have been getting help. But the more you watched, the more you realised about him and his meandering walk; never once did you see him lash out or scream like you had seen so many times from those who injected and snorted and drank any substance they could get their hands on.
You watched him for months- accidental at first, then you found yourself checking outside your window to see if he was there. It was as if he was your own personal dooms-day clock- each time you saw him it was a tick. Somehow you found him far more comforting than the Armageddon timepiece the government kept.
Then you got tired of walking from your desk to the window, and moved it up against the glass. You told yourself there was no harm in thoughtfully gazing at someone…you weren’t harming him or yourself. You liked to pretend you were friends…though you knew he wasn’t even aware of your existence. You bet he had a million odd stories of the world around him- he looked far older than you. Older and harsher.
Then came the day that changed your private little relationship.
The day he stared back.
It had scared you half to death when you had been watching him in your usual daze- silly smile on your face and chin in your palm- and he had paused. He had looked down the street, stopped, then snapped his head up to look you in the eye. He was 25 feet below you yet he saw you so clearly and you felt stripped bare.
You had nearly fallen out of your chair to scramble away from the window; goosebumps had sprung up on your arms and your feet had pins and needles in them. Your heart had leapt into your throat and pounded furiously. It had taken you 10 minutes to finally inch back to the window. To your relief, he was no longer there, but then distress began to set in as you wondered if you had scared him off. He didn’t exactly look blessed with monetary abundance, and you doubted he appreciated a strange woman staring down at him.
The next day, you thought he might not pass your street; having a stranger watch him was likely not on his to-do list and there were hundreds of streets for him to march down instead of yours.
However, even though you agreed with this likelihood of him not coming back, you found yourself unable to complete any work until noon. A call from your employer was the only thing that snapped you out of your reverie, and even then, you could barely focus on your work.
Your knee bounced as you did your best to prioritize, and almost got lost in the work in front of you until out of the corner of your eye, you saw a flicker of red. It was embarrassing how fast you looked down, not that you truly cared.
Your heart jolted. He was there. You didn’t scare him off.
Then, he looked up again.
This time, you didn’t run. You held your ground…and even managed a little wave.
He didn’t wave back, and you even wondered if he saw it.
He only readjusted his sign over his shoulder and kept walking.
What an odd man.
Though you supposed you were just as odd to show such an interest in him.
Perhaps a little perverse…
You blanched at the thought; hoping to god that he didn’t think that.
While making dinner, a thought struck you. You made just a little extra food, and saved it in a container, even writing a note for yourself to not forget to give it to that strange man. You knew it was silly, and forward - truly very unlike you- but in a city where it was next to impossible to make any selfless human connection…you didn’t want this to go to waste. Even if he told you to piss off, at least you could sleep at night knowing you tried.
So you waited.
You truly hoped against hope that your wish to show compassion wouldn’t be seen as anything but what it was…though a part of you began to think you were practically asking for trouble or misinterpretation. The longer you sat the more nonsensical you felt as your knee bounced twice the speed of your heart beat.
It was almost 10 am when he came into your view, only this time it was as if he materialised out of nowhere instead of the slow walk from your right to your left.
You didn’t even wait to see if he would look up.
You didn’t let yourself think.
You dashed to your door, food in hand, and tore down the stairs to the small gate separating your home’s entrance from the figures trudging past. You opened it and stepped out onto the street, trying not to get stepped on by passers-by as you looked for him. To your luck, he was only ten feet down from your building, and before you could stop yourself, you quickened your pace to catch up.
“E-excuse me! Sir?” You called softly once you were behind him. The man came to a slow stop and turned- a stoic look on his face.
Now that this man was in front of you and was giving you his very real attention, you felt your lungs cease their function for a few seconds, no words forming in your mouth either.
He was handsome…in a strange sort of way.
He looked…jagged, and guarded.
Thin, short, and tired…but by god you couldn’t look away. Not until you realized you were staring again.
Simple and to the point.
You looked down at the container of food in your hands that was still warm.
“I’m- I apologise…I wanted you to have this…it’s getting cold.” You said, holding out the food to him.
Most impersonal act of kindness in recorded history, well done.
You returned your eyes to his face, and found him looking right back at you. Neither angry nor kind. He simply looked…beaten. Tired of his life…tired of the world…you didn’t know for certain. But you understood.
Somehow.
“I’m-…I’m sorry for staring. And I hope you’re not allergic to anything…um, there’s a fork in there, you can keep it, good to have, you know?” You knew you were rambling, and very aware that he hadn’t looked away from you once. You fought to hold his gaze, but admittedly it was an intimidating stare.
He turned to walk away, and you felt panic fill you.
“Please take it.” You tried again, but he didn’t say a word.
He silently left you standing there, and you felt like New York’s biggest idiot.
It was the rambling…defiantly the rambling. Oh maybe it was the act itself I mean he probably isn’t used to having that kind of- okay now that’s a bit of an over-assumption…he might have lots of people offering him kindness…and now you’re the one standing on the street staring at a lamppost.
…pull yourself together.
You watched him disappear, just like your pride; whatever had been left of it. Your shoulders began to sag as defeat settled into you and turned your tongue sour.
Which was why you decided to do the exact same thing again the next day.
You waited. Perfectly ready to not see him after that embarrassing display yesterday…but sure enough, there he was.
You noted that he did not not look up today, not that you blamed him.
You were out the door before you could dissuade yourself.
“Mister!” You called.
He didn’t turn this time.
You repeated yourself a little more clearly. “Mister!”
He kept walking. And somehow every time you almost caught up to him, he would slip out of your grasp.
You could only continue like that so far down the street, and eventually had to give up. He was stubborn…and you could be too. You didn’t know this man’s story, and if he didn’t see himself as good enough to receive kindness, then you could continue until he did understand…or until he called the police on you for harassment.
So you did it again. And again.
You told yourself you would try two more times and if he didn’t take them…that would be that. You would have to move on.
You made a rich stew, and even put a few pieces of bread in a bag for him. You steeled your shot nerves, and began to walk down to your entrance before even seeing him.
You saw him coming from a few blocks away, and very slowly made your way into his path. He gradually took in your form, but didn’t pause or even stop. Not until he was a foot from you. But you held your ground.
“Look…I’m not…I don’t know why you won’t let me help you, but I don’t want you to think I’m trying to get some gold star or have you boost my ego by being thankful…I just want to show you kindness and if that’s too much for yo-“
He held his hand out to you, palm up. He didn’t look away, and blinked slowly.
You might not have been the best at reading every person you met, but his message was obvious. “If I take it will you leave me alone?”
You grinned timidly, and placed the food in his hand gently. “Keep the container…they’re good to have.” You said under your breath almost out of habit- it had been something your mother did and now you found yourself doing.
He took it without another word, and you felt a pleasant heat bloom in your chest.
The next day, you childishly watched for him again- as if he was your Santa Clause or Tooth Fairy…although he looked like he might knock someone’s teeth out rather than give them a couple coins for them.
You made a soup that would fill him up and picked up an extra loaf of bread to give him. Both sat on your lap as you sat on your stoop, ready for him. You kept telling yourself you just wanted to help out a lonely soul like yourself, and that you weren’t developing a juvenile crush on the man who hadn’t even spoken to you.
You leaned out periodically to see if you could see him, and found yourself readying your nerves to confront him again.
You sighed and went to lean out again, only to freeze rigidly.
“M-morning-“ you squeaked.
The very man you were waiting for was standing just feet from you, staring, and his free hand in his pocket. As if he had come up from the gutters themselves.
You hadn’t prepared for this kind of sudden interaction, and found yourself mentally throttling your brain to do something.
Anything.
It seemed however that whatever god was above you decided to take mercy on you for once, and the man reached out his hand just as he had the day previously.
You wordlessly handed the food to him then remembered the bread. “Oh! This um is for you too…it’s fresh.” You added, pretending like your cheeks weren’t warm and your hands weren’t shaking.
You smiled gently, but it faded fast when you notices a small group of seedy men approaching the two of you. You didn’t like to instantly label people, but this particular flock of men were well known in the area…you had watched them many a time from the safety of your window.
You instantly began to shrink in on yourself, and it seemed your change in demeanour was enough to catch the older man’s attention. He followed your stare behind him, and his nose momentarily scrunched up in a displeased snarl. A mere twitch.
Vermin.
Rorschach felt something ugly build in him. He knew their faces well…rape, theft, assault, vandalism. These men were true scum under his boot…he hated that he couldn’t put them in their place without his face.
“Hey-yo mammi lookin good!”
“Hey you wanna lift that skirt a little more?”
“Whatcha doin with the little rat, hm?”
You could feel your heart rate pick up as they got closer, and you hoped that they didn’t realize you lived in that building. You wished you didn’t feel so small but-
The older man handed the food back to you without even looking. It was enough to bring you back to reality, and you took it quickly- the last thing you wanted was to antagonise him. Then he turned his body fully to the approaching group, and he waited patiently.
Your heart stopped. Was he about to-
He didn’t move from his stance in front of you, and he almost looked bored. Inconvenienced.
“The fuck you gonna do weasel?” One of them sneered.
That’s not very nice-
They’re not nice PEOPLE
You watched, terrified, as they got into his face and towered over him. The last thing you wanted was for him to get beaten for just being near you-
“What’s your fucking problem huh? Just gonna stare at us with those freak eyes cuz you can’t fight?” Another taunted, guffawing.
You winced, and your eyes unfocused…just like they used to-
But then, something in the men changed like a light switch. With his back to you and now a few feet away, you couldn’t tell if the man had said something, or done something, but what you did know was that the skinniest of the group was clapping the biggest on the shoulder and telling him “The little rat ain’t worth the trouble.” But there was an urgency in him what wasn’t there before.
The men huffed and some blew kisses at you which made you wrap your sweater tighter around yourself wishing you could disappear. Your eyes refocused as you heard them walk away, and you slowly looked over at the older man who was now half turning back to you.
You stared at him, your appreciation evident on you face. “I- Thank you sir…I don’t…” Don’t want to think of what might have happened if you weren’t here, you wanted to say, but you kept it simple instead. You sighed and shook your head, then held out your offering to him, and the bread you were sure he would like.
The man stared, and rose his right brow slightly, then took both from you. He turned and left you there as if it was a normal day.
Your heart was still beating wildly by the time he had left your sight, and you couldn’t help but feel a warmth spread through you as you thought about him defending you; even if it was simply him not in the mood to witness a young woman have her dignity taken…he had done something, and that made you stare after him longer than usual.
You didn’t ask why he came back at all.
Nor why he was right by your stoop that morning.
And you never inquired as to why he never asked why you didn’t give him money.
He knew why you didn’t. Perhaps not enough to make a full admission to himself but he sensed something in you…that stupid little girl. You didn’t give him money because money was too easy to fall into sin. Gambling, drugs, whores…all for money.
You wanted your kindness to stay as it was intended to be- good.
The warmth you had felt stewed in your stomach right through to the next day; you had made your way to your favourite shops early that morning and picked up a few bags of things to cook with. Then as you went to turn to your building, you paused.
You knew that red hair a mile away, and you only needed to look a few feet to see it resting against your stoop entrance.
He-
You looked around at nothing as if someone might tell you what you were seeing.
He was sat there on your building’s steps, newspaper in hand…reading. You considered continuing walking down the street and pretending like you didn’t see him or live there, but you felt silly even considering such a thing.
He didnt look up at you, and didn’t acknowledge you as you slowly approached the steps.
“Morning.” You said gently. Your cheeks began to flush when you looked at him- attempting to retrieve your keys from your pocket without tripping. It came out almost absentmindedly, seeing as you didn’t exactly want him to know that you had been fixated on how to approach him…although you supposed you had already had blown that when you watched for him every day and chased him with food…
He didn’t say a word.
An anxious knot began to tighten in your stomach. You truly didn’t know what to do…you didn’t want to seem rude if he just hadn’t heard you. You got to the first step and glanced down at your hot coffee. You wondered if he was able to speak at all…At this point, when you figured you were mostly talking to yourself and that he likely barely listened to a word you said.
“You need this more than I do…it’s September now…getting cold.” You bent down, hoping your paper bags didn’t rip, and placed it onto the second step by his boot.
You wanted to ask him why he was on your steps; wondered if he was waiting for you; wondered if he might clasp a hand over your mouth and slit your throat the moment you walked past him. It wasn’t that you wanted to think the worst, but after years of seeing the worst in the city, you couldn’t help it. You hoped that you were wrong, for you sanity’s sake.
The man still hadn’t acknowledged you, and your arms were growing heavy. With nothing left to do, you opted to walk past him and unlocked the door; chancing a glance back at his form. Perhaps you were delusional, but you swore you saw his head turning back to its original position. Had his gaze followed you?
A glance.
It was small and secret and you were elated.
You wasted no time in running up the stairs into your apartment, and grabbing the food you had saved from the night before. You counted the seconds mentally that it took for you to descend the stairs again, hoping it wouldn’t be enough time for the man to disappear.
You nearly tripped on the last step when you saw him standing and folding the newspaper. In another attempt to regain your composure, you slowed your pace as you came to the top of the stoop. You almost handed the food to him from there, but it made you feel like someone with a saviour complex instead of just trying to be nice. The tentative step you took down to his level seemed to finally grasp his vague attention as he looked down at your feet then up to your face.
You held the food out by his gloved hand.
“I hope you’re okay, mister.” You said earnestly, holding his gaze, “It’s horrible out there.” You didn’t know what made you say that, but it had been something that weighed on your mind for months…perhaps years. A dormant thought that his picket sign had awakened.
The man took the food, and it was then that you noted a certain despondency in his eyes. Perhaps it was the way his weathered face made them stand out so much more amongst the lines of age.
He left you there again just like he always did: silently.
Just as you were about to wander back up into your home, you glanced down and stopped and smiled.
There sat the coffee cup you had handed him.
It was empty.
Perhaps he was accepting your gestures in hopes of having you eventually leave him alone, but you were only fuelled by his recipiency. It became a routine for you to keep extra food for that man. Even if you ordered take-out, you kept some for him.
You noticed, however, that not long after you made contact with the strange man, a few things started happening to you that certainly had not before. In fact, you were beginning to ponder your sleep quality as you often woke up to far less food than when you had gone to sleep. Were you sleep walking? Or simply forgetting all together how much you had eaten?
Then came the dreams. At least a few times out of the week, your dream-addled mind swirled with unclear images of someone or something visiting you at night- a shadow, a whisper, a puff of smoke in the wind. You swore you woke up with things moved, but there was no forced entry that you could find, and thus you never thought more of it than you needing more sleep.
Weeks passed as you took it upon yourself to care for this man, even though he seemed to dislike the company. You knew he found you childish, it was beyond evident in his face when he stared at you. But even still, he took what you offered him, albeit begrudgingly.
Each time you saw him, a part of your heart felt bruised. Not that you pitied him -you were certain he would resent any pity- but you could tell when a person was damaged. Be it from something personal or the world itself…it didn’t matter. You were all hurt in your own way. You wondered how long it had been since someone was kind to him; had he known much kindness at all? Had he lost everything? Did he have anything to lose in the first place?
You hoped you could provide him with a tiny little ray of hope amongst the arduous reality.
Perhaps you were too optimistic like your mother had said when you were little…but you didn’t care. Not when it helped you sleep at night and get through the days of listening to the dwindling city below you.
But then, he stopped coming.
It had been a full month and a half since he had first accepted your offering. You had gotten so used to your routine that the first morning it happened, you felt sick- like a punch to your gut. You heart had dropped to your toes and your tongue felt heavy and your ears rang. You instantly thought the worst. Of course you tried to rationalise it, telling yourself that he most likely just wanted a change in his route and would be gone for that day…or perhaps he simply got sick and didn’t go for his usual walk.
When you sat there at your window, having gone back up dejectedly, you found yourself staring into nothingness. You hadn’t realized how attached you had become to that little man.
This man who never spoke had become a friend of sorts…some kind of stanger who gave you a tiny bit of human contact that you grew dependant on. It wasn’t as if he was kind to you, in fact he was a little standoffish when it came to you…you wondered if you bothered him more than anything else…and the more you thought about it the more you realized you probably did.
That night came and went; quiet and lonely aside from those strange dreams. Your eyes prickled when you awoke- already feeling empty.
You felt so silly. So selfish. Ridiculous really.
You felt even more ridiculous when you called in sick to work even though you couldn’t afford it. You found yourself wandering the streets without the slightest idea where that man came from or what his routine was, so you picked some directions to try and set off. There was no plan, you just needed to know that the one person you actually cared about wasn’t laying dead in an alley, at the very least.
It took three hours.
Three.
Asking various vendors and urchins of the streets before you were pointed in the direction that ultimately led you to that tuft of dirty red hair. He was passing by a news stand, that simple pace carrying him as always.
“Mister!” You called before you could tell yourself this was stalking…and the fact that you had no plan whatsoever.
The only indication that he heard you was when the man’s steps faltered for a moment. A slight pause in his foot and a tightening of his shoulders.
You ran to him, and moved into his field of vision. He stared at you almost like a stranger, and that stung you more than it should have. But you did your best to remain calm and kind.
“I haven’t- you-“ you tried, but failed to catch your breath, “I thought something had happened to you…but I’m so glad to see you safe. Can I- can I buy you lunch?” You asked him.
The man stared at you hard, that line between his brows even more pronounced than usual. He was thinking.
Rorschach loathed how bare he was without his face. If he wasn’t in disguise he wouldn’t hesitate to tell you to take your pity elsewhere, anything to get you to unstick yourself from him.
When he didn’t budge, you shifted on your feet, looking around to break his intense eye contact, “I- you dont have to repay me or anything…just a bite to eat. I care about you…- more than I should probably.”
“You shouldn’t.”
You almost jumped at the voice that left him.
That was the first time he had said a word to you, and you admittedly never would have thought that that would be his voice- it was so deep and hoarse that you shivered.
Then you realised what he had said.
“I sh-…why?” You asked, scrunching your brows together.
He hated his weakness in finally speaking. You would never let go now.
“People like you don’t care about people like me, and vice versa.” His words came in a rumble, and they tore you down so easily. A stomp to your heart.
You tried to pretend like tears weren’t welling in your eyes; like you were stronger than the curt, sharp words of a man you barely knew. “And what kind of people are my people?” You pushed, though it sounded more desperate than you wanted.
His face was pure stone. “Good people.”
You swallowed. “And you’re bad?” The question was timid; any wind that had been in your sails was long gone as soon as he had opened his mouth.
“Yes.” He rasped. Rorschach didn’t have the patience to baby you, and frankly his temper was rising the more you made him speak.
“Call me naive…but you don’t seem bad to me…you look…worn down.” You shrugged. “You seem like you need a little good in your life…and I really want to help you with that-“
“No you don’t.”
He said it so quickly it was as if he had practiced it or said it before. You wondered how many times he had gotten hurt.
As you searched for any retort, he continued, and began to stalk towards you causing you to back away. “You don’t want to help with anything. What you want is to feel a little less self absorbed than you already do but in doing so you only fall further into your pathetic, egocentric existence. You think you’re being compassionate? Look again. You’re nothing but a privileged little girl looking for a new toy until she gets bored and wants another one. Look in the mirror for once and see what you really are, you wretch.”
His words rang in your ears, and you felt lightheaded. He stared you down a moment longer, then he was turning around and disappeared into the crowd before you could find a rebuttal or feel your hands. You were numb.
Your heart ached as much as your feet did, if not more.
No…certainly more. You felt nauseated.
It was as if a bucket of ice water had been dumped on you from the top of one of the skyscrapers above you. You felt cold and breathless.
You didn’t remember walking home, but you must have seeing as you were sitting on your couch, coat off and tears dry by 6 pm.
You never thought he cared that much; thought he just saw you as a free meal and you were alright with that…but hearing what he had thought of you all along made you want to double over at your stupidity.
Had he been obvious in his distain and you just hadn’t noticed? You supposed it had been you who forced him to take your food in the first place…he had tried to get away from you but never could because you were so persistent. You were selfish in your want to help, and it had angered him terribly.
And you had lied to yourself; you had told yourself that if he told you to piss off, you would just have to accept that…but here you were with him telling you just that and you couldn’t handle it.
You should have known it was only a matter of time before you pushed this stranger too far…
He was like a wild dog; he would respect you…and then he wouldn’t.
And now you felt even worse for comparing him to a dog.
You hung your head in your hands and let your tears fall. In your want to help someone you had only made an enemy, and made yourself feel more alone than ever.
But that one morning still played over and over if your mind- when he hadn’t let that gang of men get any closer to you; he could have so easily just taken the food and walked away to leave you to their mercy…but he had stood his ground.
Your head ached as you tried to rationalise everything and piece it together.
But all you could come up with was that he thought you were a horrible person…and you were starting to believe him. You supposed you were nothing more than a caterer for him and you had pushed his boundaries too much.
It was all your fault.
A week passed. Every night, you still made the extra food for him, only now you left it out on the stoop since you didn’t see him anymore; hoping he might wander by when you weren’t looking. But you felt your heart ache when it was untouched. On more than one occasion the food was taken, but you assumed it wasn’t your…friend.
Of course, you had no idea that the very man you urned for sat beside those containers almost every night for at least an hour without his face. He never touched what you left for him, and he stared at it in distain. You were young, and you were stupid. He gathered he couldn’t even call you a whore yet…hell you almost had a pretentious halo around you from being born still. He wondered how it felt to be so utterly ignorant.
Rorschach hated that he knew more about you than you thought. That he had taken up the habit of perching on your fire escape outside your window as he wrote in his journal, and you cooked or read.
What he didn’t know was why you did this. Rorschach was a master of puzzles and he loathed that he couldn’t figure your motive out, not fully at least.
You said you cared.
Said you wanted to help…
Stupid.
There was no way in hell that anything you said was true. There was some kind of poison lacing your words and he had already let himself be exposed too long. No one liked Walter Kovacs, and no one liked Rorschach; they used him and worked with him…but like?
No.
A young woman liking him?
Unheard of.
Preposterous.
But that first day you had come to him on that filthy street had felt like an itch had been scratched. For months he had felt eyes on him on that particular stretch of street, but when he had finally spotted you upon your little perch, he felt what it was like to have a question answered for once. It had startled him. You had startled him. He had imagined it was an old, fat creep spying on the passers-by or a whore looking for a client…just like her…
But then there you were- this soft young woman with clean clothes and a gentle stare; you had almost fallen out of your seat, red cheeks visible even from his view point below.
Just another strange woman then.
Then…and only then when you had burst out onto the street, and run after him did he allow himself to look at you. Actually look at you.
You had looked irritatingly familiar.
There was a timidness to your eyes- a sadness that had turned to kindness. A stark contrast to the sadness in his own eyes- a sadness that had turned to venom and ice long ago.
Your voice was soft as you spoke all in a rush and apologising as you held that peace offering to him. A warm meal.
Selfless.
You were young, and selfless.
You didn’t care that he was as filthy as the street you stood on. That he hadn’t even spoken a word.
You had just wanted to help.
Stupid.
Rorschach was pleased that he had chosen to leave you there; he wasn’t one to pick up strays.
But you were stubborn. He loathed how stubborn you were. Treating him like he was a bug under your microscope.
That next time when he finally took your selfish, presumptuous offering, he considered not eating the food lest it be poisoned, but then again that wouldn’t be the worst thing he had endured in his lifetime.
He had watched you retreat back into your little home like some little, pathetic mouse.
He wasn’t young, or stupid, or naive, or innocent.
He wasn’t about let his gaze wander to some girl who would be a whore in a year or two.
At least that was what he had told himself up until night fell. Once the city was plunged into darkness and his disguise came off, Rorschach clenched his bloodied knuckles as he scaled a near-by building. Jumping from rooftop to rooftop until he came to a familiar neighbourhood. Rorschach had huffed behind his mask, and crawled down the ladder system to your window; a sick, juvenile curiosity making him feeble. Contempt flooded him.
He sat outside your window…watched you as you put yourself to sleep; tugging frustratedly at your night-dress when it bunched up under your blanket. There was an innocence to you that made his nostrils flare under his mask and his ears ring; as if an old memory was trying to resurface. It was ludicrous, of course.
Your window had opened surprisingly quietly, and he soundlessly eased himself inside. Your home was simple and comfortable despite likely having a landlord who didn’t give two shits about you. Tidy enough for a young woman. Rorschach stalked from shadow to shadow, mapping out the apartment. Then he came to your bedroom, and he paused; watched how gently you breathed as sleep took you. As if you didn’t have a care in the world, or perhaps you simply weren’t aware of the scum that lay below you.
He told himself he was just collecting information on this strange person who had extended him a disingenuous olive branch. Nothing more.
It wasn’t that there was an itch in his hands when he saw you, or a twitch in his eye when he heard your voice; that you got under his skin.
You little creature.
A little light that had turned on in his dark world.
He hated the light.
He stared at the dress that you had worn that day- draped over the back of a chair in the corner of your room. It had sat at your knee, a modest length especially given your young age. It wasn’t often that a young woman attempted to protect herself with a show of dignity. He gathered you must be hiding something…
You were odd. A sliver of grey in his black and white world.
He hated grey. It made no sense.
Then there was the routine that you forced him to partake in.
He found his steps slowing when he passed your building- not out of expectation but out of a foolishness that made him engage in the childish game you laid out.
Your presence ate away at him like a corrosive acid.
Each day he expected you to not be there. To disappoint him like everyone else.
But you never disappointed him, and he loathed it.
There was twice where he had made it past your building with no sign of you, and he had decided that the game was done and he could carry on with his existence, but then that frantic little voice of yours would make him stop. Calling after him like he was so important. Like you needed to give him your kindness as much as you assumed he needed to receive it.
Then he found himself slipping.
So stupid.
Putting off jobs or rerouting himself to pass your window. Just a glimpse- a reassurance that you were alright like double checking that you have your wallet when you leave the house.
Then it wasn’t enough. He began to sleep there on your stoop, picket sign beside him like an old friend. He didn’t care if he saw you in the mornings, but he saw the type of people who frequented the area and he wasn’t about to let a single one get past your door. He didn’t need the blood of a foolish woman on his hands as well.
The image of your bloodied, violated limp body made his stomach churn; just like it had when he found Blair Roche’s remains. And that was what scared him- or the closest thing he could feel to fear.
He held this pristine little being in his pale hand, and he knew that the longer he held it, the more likely it became that he would ruin it. Crush you in his palm just like that man had done to that little girl all those years ago…taking Walter Kovacs with him.
And he would not drag you down with him. He would not stoop to that monster’s level.
So he stopped showing you his disguise. He couldn’t have you know he was there, just like the rest of New York. He needed you to forget about him; treat him like a ghost you saw out of the corner of your eye.
When he was across the city that morning and still heard your voice behind him, he had felt his muscles tighten in distain.
Because then it wasn’t a game anymore. He was done.
But you were so insistent that you cared.
You truly cared.
You had spent god knows how long looking for him.
As soon as he had heard you, he had to steel his composure lest you attempt to lure him back into your scheme.
He hated that you had gotten him to speak, but he had watched you crumble under his words; it was alright that you were upset. He could handle that far easier than your kindness- perhaps you might even grow from a little cruelty.
Weeks passed, and he found himself returning to his usual schedule; almost appreciating the simplicity of the dullness and angst.
It was a Tuesday night when Rorschach sat on an old roof top, jotting down his visit to Daniel Dreiberg’s home- noting that he had gotten even lazier with his physique and needed to stop lying to himself about the state of the world. The odd scream and rushed fuck in an alley-way rang out below him here and there; the usual.
Dull, really. He sighed, and tucked the book inside his coat. He leaped down to the neighbouring roof, and trudged along it.
Then from down below, he swore he heard a familiar voice.
Rorschach almost rolled his eyes as he came to the edge of the roof and looked down. It was dark, but he knew your voice from a mile away- you had forced that skill upon him.
You were backing away from five men, all considerably more imposing than yourself and your warm drink. Hot chocolate to be exact. You always had at least one once a week…taking a stroll to a small coffee house-
Rorschach ground his fist into the brick to halt his unnecessary thoughts as he crouched.
He listened to the men taunt you, and saw them back you into an alley wall.
He watched, bored, waiting to see what might happen. Then the more he listened, the more he came to realize that the conversation being had sounded familiar.
“What you thought I’d be locked up forever, pumpkin? Nah they just needed some good behaviour ‘n that was enough for them to slap my ass outta there.” One of them laughed, and he neared your cowering form.
Rorschach noted just how badly you shook.
“What? You’re not happy to see me? Cmon now, don’t you have a kiss for daddy, hm?” The man sneered, successfully trapping you against the disgusting alley wall.
Rorschach began creeping down closer to hear, his eye twitching under his face when he watched the other men keep a look out and stare at you like meat on a plate.
“There you were thinking you were so smart with that speech of yours… “My boyfriend raped me and made me watch him launder all the money.”.”, he put on a horrible high pitched voice to mock you, “God you sounded pathetic. 15 fucking years…got out in 7…missed you, you know?”
Rorschach’s brain itched as he tried to recall this particular monster…it was all so-
Then it clicked.
That nagging familiarity of your face wasn’t a coincidence. He had seen you before, of course he had. He felt so stupid.
He had been outside the courthouse after you had given your heartbreaking testimony and that vile man was sentenced to 15 years for assault, murder, rape, and money laundering with attachments to drug trafficking to the homeless. Some monster with a god complex. He had seen you come down the stairs, one of your eyes still black, and head down as the onslaught of reporters and media flocked to you. You had been in the damn paper, why the hell didn’t he remember that. You were barely legal too…he remembered how his stomach had churned-
Your scream snapped him out of his memory, and he was leaping down into that alley before you could finish your cry for help. You sounded so terrified.
As Rorschach landed, a knife was held up to your lips, ready to carve your face. He felt rage fill his veins; was there no end to the putrid barbarians that staked their claim on what they saw fit?
He cleared his throat. Each head turned to him, including yours, as he stood.
As one of the most recognizable figures of New York’s underbelly, Rorschach was used to the look of fright directed at him. What he was not used to was the look of solace that washed over your tight features once your eyes locked onto his inkblot face.
Rorschach found something rewarding in your eyes.
Fuel.
The man holding your throat nodded for the man closest to Rorschach to attack first, which he did. His neck snapping echoed louder than your sobs.
The cold knife poked carelessly into your soft cheek, and you did your best to squirm away.
The next man to lunge at the vigilante smashed his bottle of beer against the brick wall, smirking as if his glass weapon would do any good. Rorschach let him get close. Then faster than a bullet he snatched the man’s weapon-laden hand and squeeze tight; the bottle breaking easily in his fist and puncturing the man’s hand like a balloon on a tack.
Two other men attempted to assault Rorschach, and each time he found such generous abundance of horror and dread in their eyes right before he gifted them each with an irreversible injury.
One after another, the men fell, until it was just Rorschach, the man holding you, and you.
He knew the dog had a name- knew he had heard it specifically- but he couldn’t bring himself to care. No doubt he would hear it over a news channel tomorrow.
The lout man held you tight, and knocked your head against the wall to stun you before turning to Rorschach. You slumped to the ground and watched as the masked vigilante took measured steps to him as if to speed up the process.
You had heard of the Watchmen before, and the countless criminals they had put away and subsequent lives they had saved…but Rorschach wasn’t what you had imagined. He didn’t tell you to save yourself or ask if you were alright. He was silent.
And somehow you found comfort in that-as if you were in the fight with him instead of a damsel in distress. You couldn’t look away, even going so far as looking for something to immobilize the brute of a man who had stolen so much from you all those years ago when you didn’t know any better.
Then once you looked up again, he was down in a heap.
You didn’t even see the altercation, but regardless there was an evident dent in the side of his bleeding head.
The filthy alley floor dug into your knees as you sat and stared. Your mind was playing catch-up with your eyes, and you felt as if the world had been eradicated from your shoulders.
You felt tears well in your eyes and a line of gratitude on your tongue.
Then the masked man turned to you and your entire world shifted when he spoke.
“Go home.” Was all he said.
But it wasn’t how he said it or what he said.
It was his voice.
You knew that voice.
You missed that voice.
You had wanted so badly to understand that voice…
Even the compact build and attitude were right.
Your lungs burned from you forgetting to breathe for a moment.
You stared up at his looming figure, eyes wide and tears long forgotten.
“It’s you…” you whispered. “You’re Rorschach.”
He let out a noise that sounded akin to a growl and a sigh. The sound send a shiver through your cold body. Then without another word, he pulled out a grappling hook like you had seen on the news, launched it, and disappeared into the smog and thick dark.
Rorschach berated himself for hours following the incident. So badly that he beat an old pimp into a coma and ripped his face off to breathe as he sat on a fire escape.
This was a nightmare.
You knew him. Knew his face and his voice.
He had slipped.
Stupid stupid stupid stupid.
There was only one thing he could think of that might rectify it, and it didn’t include you living.
He sighed.
Rorschach stood outside your door, returned to his disguise, and found that he could hear your footsteps through the thin wood. You were cleaning… doing something to distract yourself. Your hands were shaking judging by how you kept dropping things.
He knocked three times, and heard you pause at the sound. Paranoid. Frightened. You very quietly approached the door, and took a look through your peephole before falling completely silent.
You weighed your options; you could not open the door, and risk that pissing him off and breaking the door down…or you could open it and simply speed up the process of whatever it was he wanted. It took ten seconds before you pulled the door open for him.
There was no hiding how startled you were by him being there…now that you knew exactly who he was.
You were looking for something he say, he could practically hear your mind working away…up until your eyes fell on his bashed cheek and the blood drying there. You hadn’t realised he had gotten hit during the fight.
“Y-you’re hurt,” you murmured, and he nodded, not letting his eyes leave you. You sighed and stood aside, “Come in.”
He stared at you for a moment, then slowly walked past you into your home as if it was the first time he had been there. Like he didn’t know the layout and where you slept and how you folded your clothes or the hangers you used.
“Sit down.” You gestured to the couch, and offered a very small smile as if to reassure him that he was welcome there. That you weren’t holly terrified of him.
Rorschach sat, and watched you as you approached him with a cloth and small bowl of water. You sat close to him, and brought the cloth up to his cheek after wringing it out, but he caught your wrist before you could get any nearer.
He looked at you. Truly looked at you. Looked through you.
“You shouldn’t waste your tears on something so undeserving as a man.” He rumbled.
Your eyes were locked on his, and you felt as if all air was sucked out of you. You still weren’t used to that voice of his; pure gravel.
His words hung heavy in your ears, and you realized that you must have looked like an absolute mess- tears still drying on your cheeks from sobbing for your life in the alley.
He watched you take the tactless comment and he slowly released your wrist, and you gently began to clean his injury and grime on his face. There was a firm line between your brows as your worked- wiping the sharp planes of his face while trying to ignore his eyes on you, burning a hole through your skull.
His face came clean, and your bowl of water was murky and pink. This was possibly the most surreal nights you had had in a very long time. You went to get up but again, his hand caught your forearm and kept you seated. You looked from his hand to his face, staying quiet.
“Why are you helping me?” He snipped, grip tight.
You blinked, and searched his handsome face for any idea why he might doubt you aside from the fear he caused you.
You shook your head, “Why wouldnt-“
“Why?” Rorschach snarled, pulling you so close that you breathed the same air- those cold blue eyes of his harsh and intimidating.
You gasped, but refused to look away. His grip hurt, but he had saved your life and you were afraid that if you said or did the wrong thing he would disappear again. It was pathetic, you knew that, but you felt a strange bond to him.
And though he didn’t want to admit it, he felt an odd attachment to you as well.
For 45 years he had only ever seen the greed and filth that came from humanity; shaped from it, starting from the very womb he was born from. Lies and hatred, murder and rape and theft and horror beyond your imagination. For him to find your grey in amongst the rubble of humanity, it felt like good gold. He was waiting to rub away a coating of false innocence and find another piece of coal.
But there you were…coming whiter and whiter until-
Rorschach didn’t like being wrong. Being surprised. It was tedious.
But it would be a lie if he said you were anything but one of the innocents.
A good person.
Each of the deeds you had done for him had in fact come from a place of benevolence, and not deceit.
Rorschach let his grip on you lighten.
Despite your brain cautioning you of the vigilante in front of you, you simply stared back at him and ignored how strong his hold on you was.you did note that he released you slightly, the same moment his eye twitched.
“I think there’s something to that old saying of a wounded soul recognizing another wounded soul…you looked like you had some decency left in you, sir…please don’t tell me I was wrong.” Your voice was soft. Gentle. But no less direct than his. You were kind, not weak, and you were hoping against hope that he wasn’t like America’s favourite hero, the Comedian when it came to women; a line of them out his door begging for his sexual attention and him using them then tossing them aside as he pleased.
“Or maybe I’m just stupid.” You shrugged and looked away, afraid he might confirm your statement. You wouldn’t put it past him to be blunt.
Rorschach almost reacted to your use of that word. For so long he had labeled you as such, and while you might very well still be…he was sceptical to assume anything of you. He continued to stare, his sharp eyes cutting into you like you were a cloud of vapour. He relaxed his grip on you again, and stared at where he had held your arm- red finger marks forming on your clean skin. You must have washed yourself as soon as you had gotten home…scrubbed yourself clean from those vermin.
Good.
“I have…I have some dinner I was going to-um…well bring down for you…if you want it.” You began to shift uncomfortably under his gaze when he looked back at you. You swore he stared more than he spoke.
He nodded after a moment, and you smiled a little.
An incandescent sight.
“Okay.” You whispered, finally getting up. It was surreal.
Rorschach watched you go, noting that a pleasant scent followed after you.
Why did he notice that?
You walked to your little kitchen, and placed the dirty cloth and water in the sink before going to grab the pot of warm soup. You filled a bowl for him, and turned around to grab a spoon when you froze and jumped back, spilling some soup.
You hadn’t even heard him walk up behind you, didn’t even feel him even though he was a mere breath away.
“What are you…?” You murmured.
He watched you startle, and looked for any last ill intent or motive; any snark comment or any price you might want to put on your kindness…but nothing came.
It never did.
His breath was on your face, and you could only stare at him. There was a tragedy to him, hidden under the dirt, and he was impossible to read. He might have been plotting your gruesome death and you would have no idea.
Rorschach focused on you.
Fixated.
So innocent…white and pristine amongst the blood, filth and rot of his world. He hated it. Hated how you were allowed to be like that; a poster child for something that didn’t exist freely.
He sighed, pursing his mouth.
You had chosen this; you had decided to care for him. You had lead him down this path.
You had given yourself to him.
You looked away for a moment, and gingerly placed the bowl down before you spilled it. Then before you could think of anything to say with this dangerous man who was a hair away from you, you felt the skin of his lips catch yours when you turned back.
You wouldn’t call it a kiss- it was more of a hook or bait. A test. But when he did it again…that was a kiss; tentative and slight as it was. He heard your breath catch , and could feel the heat from your cheeks as they warmed and flushed.
You blushed.
Whores didn’t blush.
He kissed you again, with a little more force, and your hands came up slowly to his chest, resting there like you hadn’t decided if you wanted to draw him closer or push him away.
He might have been one of the most infamous men in New York…if not America, but he was flesh and blood underneath that mask. He was warm, and sturdy.
Rorschach was far from weak, but when he felt your soft lips brush back against his, he felt something deep inside him snap.
A low growl rumbled in his chest and he unclenched his fists; bringing his calloused hands up to grab the back of your head and your jaw to draw you closer as he backed you hard against the counter.
It was messy and Rorschach held you possesively as you gave into him. Your teeth clanked together, and your rhythm was fueled with need as he nipped and bullied his tongue into your eager mouth. He gripped your hair so tight it hurt your roots but you didn’t dare tell him to stop.
He only removed his hands from you to shuck off his jacket and gloves, mouth still sealed over yours, and then they were back on you. Grabbing at your flesh, drawing you closer; chest flush against yours.
You shakily forced your hands between and the two of you and began unbuttoning his shirt- the older man hummed in regards to your tremor.
You nervously loosened his tie and let your hands wander over the skin of his collar and chest. You hadn’t expected him to be so strong, but knowing who he was, it only made sense. Before you could get any further he weaved his fingers into your hair and pulled your head away from him.
Rorschach held you there for a moment, soaking in how you stilled so obediently; staring at you as his free hand began to gather the hem of your little night dress. He huffed, and gave your roots a quick squeeze, and the message was clear: “Stay.”
Then once he was satisfied with your cooperation, he brought his other hand down to the other side of your nightie and brought the garment up and over your head with ease. He let it fall to the ground, and you followed its descent; unable to look at the older man now that you were left in your panties while he was still almost fully clothed.
He placed two fingers under your chin to force you to look at him; you felt your blush deepen when you saw how blown his pupils were. He looked determined, and feral- deep breaths making his chest heave.
Before you could say a word, Rorschach scooped you into his arms and didn’t even pretend to not know where your bedroom was. A gasp escaped you, and your wrapped your arms around his shoulders. He carried you with little effort, and had you plopped down on your mattress in seconds. The older man crawled over you before you could even sit up; lips on yours, kissing you so hard your mouth grew tender. He only paused to pull back and kick off his trousers.
Then he was everywhere.
Rough hands grabbing at your soft skin; low rumbles and hums in his chest that vibrated against you and made you need him even more. He kissed and bit at you- marking you as his. You held onto his strong shoulders, whimpering and moaning quietly as he made you forget your own name and only know his.
Rorschach bit into your neck, and rocked firmly against you. You could feel him scorching and pulsing against your core, rubbing hard against you to create friction that had you forgetting to breathe.
“P-please” you whispered, raising your hips up to meet his.
The man stopped, and you immediately regretted saying anything. He pulled away to stare down at you. You thought you had done something wrong until he spoke.
“Say that again.” He murmured, his nose brushing yours.
Your quick beating heart was so clear for him to see, along with your nearly black eyes; the throbbing vein in your neck and pulse in your chest.
“Please…” you said again, lips red and swollen.
He sucked in a breath. Having your warm, soft skin against his bare chest was the first human contact he had felt in decades. It made him feel…human. He was fighting to maintain his practiced composure, but he could feel it slipping through his fingers with that one word.
“Again.” He rasped against your lips, throat tight; invading every inch of your space. He knew he shouldn’t ask it of you, but be needed this. He needed you to say it again.
You swallowed.
“…please.” Came your timid, needy voice. Your hands started to fidget as he refused to look away, barely blinking as he took you in. Drank your generous vulnerability.
Rorschach hummed low in his chest.
“You’re mine.” He growled simply, the skin of his lips catching yours as he spoke.
Your mind was gone already, sitting in that bowl of cold soup on the counter.
You could only nod.
He sighed through his nose, and then it was as if the last part of his restraint broke. Rorschach locked his lips onto yours, and you parted yours to gasp as his hand came to your hip- squeezing and stroking your skin. His tongue moved against yours and you let out a surprised moan that he swallowed greedily. Then just as quickly, he ripped himself away from you, and you watched his veiny hands as they pulled himself from his boxers; painfully hard and leaking precum. You’d be lying in you said you hadn’t thought highly inappropriate things about the man- something about his simplicity and your need to please him. He lowered himself over you, resting his weight onto you as he bit at your lips.
Low hums would rumble through him and you couldn’t help but think he was purring. He perched onto his forearms, and shifted closer; you gasped when you felt the tip of his cock against your entrance, and choked out a cry when it entered you without warning.
There was no sweetness. It was blunt, and clear as day.
Rorschach rested his head into your neck as he hunkered over you and pushed forward, then drew back; fucking himself into you. You were no virgin, but you might as well have been. It only took two brutal thrusts before his hips were flush with yours and you were clinging to him pathetically.
You whimpered in his ear at the stretch of him so deep inside you. You couldn’t help but squirm slightly in an attempt to get used to him. Rorschach brought a hand to rest at the nape of your neck to keep you still as he drew out of you again then snapped back into you, making your body bounce under him. It was as if he was testing you…or perhaps testing himself.
Then you felt a puff of his hot breath as he quickened his pace, taking full advantage of how soaked you were for him. You could feel him throb inside you, and you suddenly remembered that he was only a man…a much older man who was rutting inside you like he owned you. The thought alone had you moan into his shoulder as his fat tip dragged against your insides and bruised your cervix. You rolled your hips with him, gasping at how hard he gripped your hip and neck.
He was possessive and harsh in his need for you. Like a man who had been starved and you were his first meal.
And he would devour you.
You felt his pace pick up and his thrusts turned harder and sloppier. He locked his arms around your shoulders to keep you still as he bruised your pelvis. Your back arched and hips met his in a need to feel every inch of him. You hooked your legs behind him to bring him closer. You could feel him huff into your neck, a rumble in his chest.
“I-inside me- please…” you managed to croak out, though you doubted he would listen to any request that he didn’t like at that point. He was going to make you his in every sense, and that meant filling you with his cum.
Rorschach growled deep into your shoulder and bit into your flesh. You felt him pulse inside you, then a warmth spread inside your navel as he emptied his cum into you. It had a comfort to it that made you cling to him, nuzzling your face into his strong shoulder. Ragged breaths were in your ear as he hammered into you a few more times like he was proving a point. Making sure you knew that you were his now…his secret.
You panted with him, and clenched reflexively as he began to pull out. You already missed the warmth he brought you. His shoulders were visibly more relaxed as he moved to lay beside you, and you slowly grasped his jaw and brushed your lips against his, which he returned ever harder. You pulled away, and you liked that he hummed when you did.
The man beside you leaned up onto his arm to stare down at you thoughtfully. As if he was trying to read something on you. Your skin flushed with warmth under his scrutiny, and you couldn’t find it in yourself to tell him that you didn’t cum.
When you moved your hand down between your legs where his cum now leaked from you, you twitched. Every inch of your skin was hypersensitive and when you touched your clit you almost flinched at the contact. All of which instantly drew the attention of the man beside you. He stared at you intently- a deep line between his red brows.
“What are you doing?” He asked.
His scrutiny was jarring, though you noticed it wasn’t judgemental…it was studious. Curious. You looked away from him, and felt very naked under his gaze, afraid he might ridicule you for something like that. It wouldn’t be the first time you had gone to take care of yourself and a man had almost laughed in your face.
“I’m…I didn’t um…” you tried, but he watched you so closely, and felt as if he was studying you.
He was.
Then he understood. His eyes widened ever so slightly.
“Oh…” he rasped, looking down where your hand had been. You bit your thumb nail as you waited to see what he would do or say. You liked this man more than you would care to admit, but you knew men could be selfish…and uncaring…and mean. Hell, you had never had anyone make you cum besides yourself, and your expectations were not-
Your thoughts were halted when you felt the warmth of his calloused hand on yours. You watched as he very simply took your hand from your mouth, and returned it to between your thighs, and looked back at you expectantly. At first it felt like a slap in the face, as if he was telling you to take care of yourself…but with how intensely he was gazing at you, you realised he was examining your every move. You moved your fingers and he regarded them carefully. Like it mattered greatly to him.
The older man committed everything to memory; when you petted, when you were gentle, when you moaned, when you pressed harder, when you stroked, when you arched your back, when your hand started to shake, when your brows pitched up, when you slipped your fingers inside yourself.
You found yourself unable to look away from him even as your eyes drooped and your mouth dropped open in a permanent sigh. Your breaths were coming in little gasps, and you didn’t even notice he was just as effected as you- his chest heaving as he took deep, controlled breaths.
You slowly pumped your fingers inside yourself, stroking your g-spot; then gasped out a soft whine at the contact on your sensitive flesh, at which point Rorschach deemed to be enough watching for his liking. He snatched your little hand and replaced it with his own far larger and rougher hand.
You gasped when he touched you so accurately…but this time you gasped for him.
He leaned over you, his lips just a breath away as if to breathe in your whines and pleas. Watching what he did to you.
His thumb drew small, feathery circles around your clit; alternating between direct but tentative touch, and agonizingly slow strokes that didn’t quite touch it. You began to pant, and your hands found his strong shoulders- hanging on like a lifeline. The older man hummed, and looked away from you for a moment to watch what he was doing, how slick his hand had become as a result. Once he had your hips rolling up into his palm, he eased a finger inside you, although his was noticeably longer and thicker than yours.
You gasped at the sensation.
“I-if you- ah! Can you move l-like this?” You showed him how to curl his finger inside you and he instantly followed your instruction, and even added a second finger; you cried pathetically as you surrendered to his mercy.
He stroked your inner walls for a few moments until he found what he was looking for. Once he made contact with that hypersensitive patch inside you, you let out a gasped moan that you tried to cover with your hand, but Rorschach was having none of that. His free hand that had cradled your head smacked your hand away and didn’t even pause his ministrations. This was just as much for him as it was for you. He wanted to know everything he did to you.
You whined softly against his mouth.
The movement of your hips began to be more deliberate as your body chased its craving. As if catching onto what you needed, he focused on that spot inside of you, and you let a series of moans slip from your mouth. Your pelvis bucked up into his touch, and you could have sworn that amongst the focused breathing and studious stare, you saw that man smirk.
Smirk.
He huffed out a ragged sound that must have been a laugh.
He continued to watch you, and you found yourself lost in the feeling of him and the sight of his eyes staring down at you like you were the most important thing at that moment.
Like there was nothing he would rather be staring at.
It took only a few more moments of his careful ministrations before you were falling apart in his arms. Your back arched up off the bed as you gripped his fingers like a vice inside you, and he continued his strokes, though he slowed them considerably.
The steady drag of his fingers inside you set your veins on fire. There was a mess of your and his cum between your thighs, and he used the saturated slickness to lazily finger you; carrying you through your high.
As you eyes refocused and unglazed, you stared back at him, and caught his lips with yours. He eagerly returned your needy kiss, and very gently removed his hand from your cunt.
You lacked proper judgement and acted purely on what you wanted; with his hand resting on your penvis, soaked and sticky, you took his wrist in your hand. You didn’t want to know how much blood had been shed because of those hands, not in that moment to be specific, but what you did know was that he had you wrapped around those fingers tight. You lifted them to your lips licked the slickness off of them, cleaning him. You flicked your eyes up to his, and we’re startled be how close he had moved. He hummed low in his chest when your tongue slowly lapped at them to clean him.
He drew his hand away from you, kissed you; holding you jaw surprisingly gently as if you didn’t have the shape of his hands bruising your hips or an ache deep inside you.
Your head felt light and disconnected.
Rorschach pulled away after a moment, and propped his head onto his hand to watch you. He gingerly traced your face shape with his finger, as if mapping and memorizing you. Touching your eyebrows, the ridge of your nose, your cheekbones.
He was lost in his own little world.
“I like the way you sound when you cum.” He said so a-matter-of-fact.
Your cheeks went rosy and warm. You didn’t know if you should thank him, so you grinned sweetly.
There was something in him that made it compelling to watch him. Something drawing you in as he stared back with such fixation. You didn’t know how to look away.
Not until your eyelids drooped and exhaustion took you. You didn’t know when you fell asleep, but you did know that when you awoke, your blanket was laid over you, your hair was out of your face, and you had a pair of crystal blue eyes staring back at you. Rorschach looked to have not moved an inch since you had fallen asleep. His head still propped in his hand, watching.
“Did you sleep?” You asked, rolling closer to him; your head and body consumed by your pillows and blankets.
He shook his head.
“You do you ever sleep?” You flicked your eyes across his face.
And he shook his head again.
You placed your hand on his cheek. His face didn’t soften- it never did, you noted. But regardless, his attention was on you entirely; you stared at him like he did you, then smiled gently at him.
“Thank you for trusting me.” You whispered, and he clearly hadn’t expected such a thing.
Again, he didn’t move from his place, but you noted the twitch in his brow, and small smirk that sat in the corner of his mouth. Perhaps he thought you foolish, but you didn’t care.
You pressed a kiss to his lips, and pulled away quickly even when he chased you. A displeased huff escaped him, but you eased it away when you gently hitched your leg over him. He grabbed your waist as if anticipating something volatile, but when you leaned over him, your chest against his, he seemed to pause mentally. You nestled your hips against his, your thighs on either side. With nothing between you, the feeling of his hardening cock against your lips was evident. The older man’s warmth radiated into you. You felt his fingers start to dig into your hips where he gripped you, squeezing the flesh as if he was about to lift you off. But then, you rolled your hips against him, sliding along his shaft easily given how slick you were already. He stopped all trains of thought he had for a moment when the sensation registered in his nerve-endings.
His gaze continued to make you self-conscious, but you wouldn’t shy away from him now.
You repeated the motion again, and felt him twitch and harden under you; you gasped when his hands held you firmer. You enjoyed the feeling of his cock under you, and your eyes began to glaze over when you felt the swollen tip catch your entrance, slipping inside you without warning. The soreness you felt from the night before didn’t stop you though. You watched him carefully, and while his stare was intense and focused, there was no unease or resistance.
Your cheeks flushed and you couldn’t help but stutter, “I-is this okay?” To the nearly silent man.
Again, he didn’t say a word. Instead, he gripped your hips tighter and bucked more of him into you.
You took that as a yes.
Encouraged by his action, you rolled your hips on him a few more times to get more of him inside you; a whimper and a gasp escaped you as he filled you so completely- the stretch painful but addictive. Your slower pace appeared to bother him and he ground you down onto him to get his cock fully inside you. The force made you breathe out another gasp; your hands found their place on his muscled chest to steady yourself.
With you both satisfied with being locked together, you slowly bucked your hips, drawing him in and out of you. You felt his grip grow more possessive, almost pawing at you as he held you.
You started slow, and deliberate; angling your hips to have his cock drag against your g-spot. At the first contact, your tempo stuttered, and your choked on a moan. He seemed to find your pleasure amusing as he hummed and began to meet your thrusts. He seemed to understand what to feel for after a moment when he stroked that sensitive patch, and you noted that he was very particular about hitting it.
Then you started to notice just how much pleasure he was receiving when his lips parted and the tendons in his neck began tighten.
Each time you came down on his shaft, you felt him reciprocate the movement- grinding up into you. It was as if he knew exactly what to feel for that made your toes curl.
You could barely hold a thought in your head as you felt fire brew in your veins and a tightness in your pelvic muscles.
You tilted your head back, and your arms that were braced on his chest buckled; bringing you closer to him. Your head fell back down and your eyes locked onto his- pupils blown. There was a new intensity to his face, a determination.
Then, as if he had had enough of you in charge, the man suddenly gripped you waist and flipped you onto your back. He crawled over you, and slipped his cock back inside you, earning him a whine and gasp from your sweet throat. He found a rhythm identical to the one you had set atop him, and your lips parted when you felt him angle his hips to target that spot inside you; the intense drag of his cock hitting it each time. He rendered you speechless in seconds.
After mewling and huffing out breaths, you finally managed to find a couple words.
“H-harder…” you forced out, “Ple-ase.” You pleaded.
It seemed he was intent to oblige. The gradual roll of his pelvis escalated into a harsher snap of his hips that had him watching you with rapt interest when you cried out.
Out of habit from your past, your hand flew to your mouth just like it had the night before, but just like then, he grabbed your wrist and pinned it beside your head without a moments thought. You felt scrutinized and your cheeks began to heat up so much you felt the warmth spread down your neck.
He wanted to know exactly what he did to you.
And that thought alone forced your body to clench and melt for him simultaneously.
With his careful ministrations, your orgasm grew quickly- an overwhelming amount of pleasure spawning inside you that you hadn’t felt before. Just as you had asked, he kept his pace steady and firm. His desire to know how to play you as he liked made your brain go dizzy with need, and you were intent to follow his wishes. While it made you flush even more to tell him what you needed, you swallowed your pride and forced another pathetic whimper from you. “Slower…please.” You breathed.
At your request, he leaned down over you more, his chest almost flush with yours. He kept your one hand pinned while he used his other hand to pull your thigh up and pushed your knee to your chest.
The change had your eyes rolling back, and you heard him hum; vibrations from his chest buzzing into yours making your fingertips tingle.
It took all of ten seconds before your thighs shook and you desperately rolled your hips up to meet his. He watched as your brows pitched up and your swollen lips parted. Your face flushed in ecstasy.
Rorschach could feel you tense around his cock, and smirked to himself when he felt a rush the of your cum soaking him inside you. You nearly sobbed. Eyes glassy and back arching as you came.
The older man slowed his pace, until eventually stopping all together, but only for a moment. He leaned his nose down into the crook of your neck, and inhaled softly. His grip still possessive; it made you shiver.
Then, just as you settled, he snapped his hips once, forcing his cock back into your tightened heat and he pulled away from your neck to stare you down- nose bumping against yours. You cried out from the impact and looked up at him. He had your attention now. And he began to fuck into you steadily again, but growing in need.
His message was clear.
“I’m not done with you yet.”
And he certainly was not.

my personal pet peeves in HP is whole second book, and medicine. especially medicine
starting with the sewers that Salazar invented about half a millennium before the Muggles and beyond. but these things have almost no effect on the overall effect, but hospitals do. the school infirmary and St. Mungus. it feels like jkr came up with Saint Mongoose only for book 5, because before when students suffered serious injuries (Basilisk and cat hair for polyjuice, I mean you) they were treated at school. the students literally waited half a year for the mandrakes to ripen! but for some reason the teachers are transferred to Mungos (McGonagall did not stay at the school after 4 spells).
either these are plot holes or I don't understand something
Like with many things in HP, you can read it as a plot hole, or you can read it as Dumbledore's manipulations at it again (which is what I always do).
If we're talking specifically about year 2, we know Dumbledore knows what the Chamber is and what the monster is. He was a professor the first time around 50 years ago when Myrtle died. He knew it was Tom back then so it's not that he has no clue.
I think he doesn't know for certain who Tom is possessing at first or how, and he lets it play out to both:
Learn more about Voldy
Test & teach Harry
Additionally, even if petrification isn't serious enough to be sent to St Mongos (playing devil's advocate a little), I refuse to believe mandrake leaves can't be imported year-round. I mean, they are a common enough potion ingredient and are used in sleeping potions and healing potions. So there must be a supplier for potioners from where they buy the specific parts of the mandrake they need.
So, I think there was a wee bit of a coverup going on so Harry could be the one to figure it out and face Voldemort. Like in first year:
“No, it isn’t,” said Harry thoughtfully. “He’s a funny man, Dumbledore. I think he sort of wanted to give me a chance. I think he knows more or less everything that goes on here, you know. I reckon he had a pretty good idea we were going to try, and instead of stopping us, he just taught us enough to help. I don’t think it was an accident he let me find out how the mirror worked. It’s almost like he thought I had the right to face Voldemort if I could. ...” “Yeah, Dumbledore’s off his rocker, all right,” said Ron proudly.
(PS)
“You see what you expect to see, Severus,” said Dumbledore, without raising his eyes from a copy of Transfiguration Today. “Other teachers report that the boy is modest, likable, and reasonably talented. Personally, I find him an engaging child.” Dumbledore turned a page, and said, without looking up, “Keep an eye on Quirrell, won’t you?”
(DH)
Dumbledore is testing Harry in his first 3 years. The first time Dumbledore isn't fully in on what's going on at Hogwarts and isn't aware of all of it is 4th year (and even then I'm pretty certain he knew Moody was an imposter, but I digress).
In general, I think, 2nd year is just another example of Dumbledore endangering students and sacrificing their education (by hiring Lockhart) to teach Harry a lesson and test if Harry is truly a Horcrux, which he suspected before:
“Couldn’t you do something about it, Dumbledore?” “Even if I could, I wouldn’t. Scars can come in handy...”
(PS) - when talking to McGonagall about Harry's lightning scar.
“I guessed, fifteen years ago,” said Dumbledore, “when I saw the scar upon your forehead, what it might mean. I guessed that it might be the sign of a connection forged between you and Voldemort.” “You’ve told me this before, Professor,” said Harry bluntly. He did not care about being rude. He did not care about anything very much anymore. “Yes,” said Dumbledore apologetically. “Yes, but you see — it is necessary to start with your scar. For it became apparent, shortly after you rejoined the magical world, that I was correct, and that your scar was giving you warnings when Voldemort was close to you, or else feeling powerful emotion.”
(OotP)
But second-year proved it to him:
“You can speak Parseltongue, Harry,” said Dumbledore calmly, “because Lord Voldemort — who is the last remaining descendant of Salazar Slytherin — can speak Parseltongue. Unless I’m much mistaken, he transferred some of his own powers to you the night he gave you that scar. Not something he intended to do, I’m sure. . . .”
(CoS)
It allowed him to test his Horcruxes theory (the diary) and also test Harry. It accomplished a lot of things Dumbledore needed anyway, so he probably thanked Lucius in his head as he let it all play out.
I mean, we see how little concern Dumbledore shows over Katie and Ron who got hurt by Draco trying to kill him:
“You gave me your word, Severus. And while we are talking about services you owe me, I thought you agreed to keep a close eye on our young Slytherin friend?” Snape looked angry, mutinous. Dumbledore sighed.
(DH) - this is all Dumbledore really says about Draco endangering students.
“You have had a busy time while I have been away,” Dumbledore said. “I believe you witnessed Katie’s accident.” “Yes, sir. How is she?” “Still very unwell, although she was relatively lucky. She appears to have brushed the necklace with the smallest possible amount of skin: There was a tiny hole in her glove. Had she put it on, had she even held it in her ungloved hand, she would have died, perhaps instantly.
(HBP) - even when talking to Harry he is incredibly cold about it.
And in book 2, the board of governors did get involved and removed Dumbledore from the school because they, quite reasonably, were concerned he wasn't dealing with the danger seriously. Like, I know it was Lucius Malfoy who engineered it and he's not supposed to be in the right, but he kinda accidentally was in this case. Dumbledore probably hid a lot of information from the board and was weird about the whole deal, I mean, Lucius can bribe to his heart's content but I don't think the board would remove Dumbledore so readily unless Dumbledore's behavior supported what Lucius was saying in some capacity.
We know Dumbledore is incredibly cold and calculated and we know it's not out of character for Dumbledore to endanger students if it advances his goals and doesn't hurt anyone too much by his standards. What's a few petrifications if it means he can be sure he can kill Voldemort and learn more about his connection to Harry?
(Regarding Hermione and the Polyjuice in year 2 is even easier. Because I don't believe Hermione told her parents and Hogwarts wouldn't tell muggles about what's going on at school, so it would be quite easy to hush down for the sake of the grander plan. Also, it protects her, Harry, and Ron since what they did is kinda illegal, so Dumbledore not sending Hermione to St Mongos protects them from punishment, which works well for them and him in this case)

Perched atop a marble table in the grand library, you swing your legs back and forth, enjoying the peace and quiet that permeates the room. Or perhaps not so quiet, you are having a conversation. Matthew and Fēlix are both at your side, engaged in a light-hearted debate about palace rumors. The former's feathers ruffle as he speaks with the distinct lilt of a man turned raven. A spicy one at that.
"Lucienne told me that Cain and Abel are at it again," Matthew says, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "They've been arguing about who gets to host the next feast."
Fēlix scoffs, shaking his head. "Those two could argue about anything," he replies, his eyes glinting with mirth. "Eons and they still can't seem to get along. I blame it on their story."
"Yeah, doesn't Cain kill Abel every day?" You hum a yes to Matthew's question and wonder how Goldie is doing.
"They have to relive their story; it's part of them being denizens within the realm," you explain, glancing at Fēlix who nods in agreement.
"Must be exhausting," Fēlix muses, leaning forward now, his interest piqued. "I mean, imagine going through that every single day. Cain digs a hole, every single day, forever. At least he doesn't seem to mind it, I've seen their laundry bills. Blood is a bitch to get out of clothes."
"That's what hydrogen peroxide is for," You interject lazily, swinging your legs some more. You glance around the library, taking in the high ceilings, intricate carvings, and towering shelves filled with books, their spines stamped in glimmering gold.
The scent of old parchment and ink fills your nose, bringing a sense of comfort and familiarity. Despite its grandeur, the library has always felt like a cozy sanctuary to you. A place where you can escape the chaos of the Dreaming and simply lose yourself in the pages of a story. When not within the arms of your dream lover.
"So, what else is new around here?" you ask Fēlix, picking up where your conversation left off. "Any other juicy tidbits you've heard?" You pull up your legs and lean forward, resting your chin on your knees, eager for some form of entertainment.
Fēlix pauses for a moment, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Well, I heard that Rhyme is trying to teach Riddles how to dance," he says, grinning, his cardinal compass glowing brightly. "Apparently, they've been practicing in one of the empty ballrooms."
Matthew snorts, shaking his head. "Can you imagine? Riddles, dancing? I bet it's quite the sight."
You can't help but laugh at the mental image. Riddles, with his perpetually stern expression and rigid posture, attempting to glide across the floor in time to the music. It's quite amusing to think about. He doesn’t have the feet for dance.
"I wonder if they'll ever perform for the rest of us," you muse aloud. "It'd be quite the show, I imagine."
Fēlix shrugs, his shoulders lifting beneath his dreamy golden robes. "Who knows? Maybe we can convince them to give us a private performance sometime."
"Or just have a ball," You throw in.
Matthew's beady eyes sparkle at the idea, and he hops up and down, a flutter of black feathers. "A ball? In the palace? Can you imagine? The music, the food, the dance! The food!"
"You said food twice," You point out as Lucienne, seated across from were you are perched on the table, lifts her head from the book she's been engrossed in. Her glasses perch on the bridge of her nose, reflecting the warm light of the candles scattered around the room.
"A ball?" She raises an eyebrow, peering over her spectacles. "What's all this about a ball?"
Fēlix leans back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest and grinning at Matthew. "It was just an idea," he explains. "Imagine how fun it would be to have everyone dressed up and dancing around!”
Lucienne looks thoughtful for a moment before shrugging. "It could be fun," she admits. "But it would also be a lot of work and we would have to broach the subject with Lord Morpheus."
You glance at Lucienne, intrigued. "Do you think he'd go for it?"
Lucienne shrugs, her glasses glinting in the soft candlelight. "Who knows? Lord Morpheus is full of surprises."
Matthew lets out a soft caw, his feathers ruffling in amusement. "I'd love to see him all dressed up for a ball! He's got style."
Fēlix chuckles, the sound echoing around the quiet library. "Who says he hasn't done it before? I've heard stories about his penchant for balls. What do you think, Kora?" Fēlix asks, turning to you. "Would you like to dance with Lord Morpheus at a ball? I bet you would look incredible."
"I've never even met him, why would I dance with the Lord of the Realm?" You ask, hugging your arms around your folded knees. "Besides, I have absolutely no idea how to dance and you all know I have eyes for someone else, thank you very much."
"Like I wouldn't teach you," Fēlix huffs.
You blink at Fēlix, a small chuckle escaping your lips. "You? Teach me to dance?" You give him a playful nudge with your elbow. "That'd be a sight."
Fēlix shrugs nonchalantly, his cardinal compass glinting. "I happen to be a great dancer," he says, feigning offense. "Matthew can vouch for me."
Matthew chortles, the sound akin to the crackling of dry leaves underfoot. "Fēlix has two left feet," he caws, earning a light swat from the dream in question.
"You're just jealous," Fēlix retorts, sticking his tongue out at Matthew.
The raven only squawks in reply, fluttering his wings.
Ignoring their banter, you slide off the table and wander over to one of the towering bookshelves. You run your fingers along the spines of the books, their embossed titles glimmering beneath your fingertips.
"What about you, Lucienne?" you call over your shoulder, plucking a book from the shelf at random. "Would you dance at this hypothetical ball?"
Lucienne hums thoughtfully from her spot across the room. "Perhaps," she replies after a moment's pause. "It's been quite some time since I last danced."
You grin at her response and open the book in your hands. It's an old fairy tale, one you've read countless times before but never tire of. A loud raven call draws your attention away from the book and back to Matthew and Fēlix who are now arguing about whether Goldie could beat Cain in an arm-wrestling match.
"I think she could," Fēlix says, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms over his chest. "Goldie's stronger than she looks."
Matthew squawks in disagreement, flapping his wings in indignation. "Cain is the eldest! He's got strength on his side."
Rolling your eyes at their antics, you stride over to the pair. "Alright, you two. Enough about Cain and Goldie. We all know Goldie could take him down without breaking a sweat. It would only take a look."
Matthew caws in protest, but Fēlix only grins at you, a twinkle in his eyes. "Oh, look at you, defending Goldie's honor," he teases.
Ignoring his jibe, you cross your arms over your chest and give them both a stern look. "What's next on the agenda? Gossiping about who's dating who?"
Fēlix leans back in his chair. "Speaking of dating, Kora," he begins, a teasing lilt to his voice, "I've been wondering about this dream lover of yours."
Matthew ruffles his feathers and turns to look at you with a quizzical tilt of his head. "Oh yes, your secret lover. We've all been dying to know more.”
You roll your eyes and try to wave them off, but it only seems to fuel their curiosity.
"Come on, Kora," Fēlix insists, grinning like a cat who got the cream. "Give us a hint. Is he a dream or a nightmare?"
Matthew hops closer to you on the table, his beady eyes sparkling with interest. "Yeah, does he have wings? Or maybe horns? Ooh! Or maybe he's one of those fancy types with a crown?"
You let out an exasperated sigh but can't help the smile that tugs at your lips. "You're both incorrigible," you chastise them lightly. "I'm not telling."
Fēlix pouts at you, feigning hurt. "Not even a little hint?"
"Especially not a hint," you retort playfully.
"You don't even know, do you," Fēlix finally huffs. "Always with the blindfold. Come on, give me some detail about him. How tall is he? What's his voice like? How big is his coc—"
"Respectfully," You loudly exclaim, cutting Fēlix off before he had your cheeks blazing with fire. "shut up."
"Aw, come on, Kora," he whines, giving you his best puppy-dog eyes. "Just a tiny hint?"
"No hints!" You declare firmly, crossing your arms over your chest. "And no more asking about it either."
Felix sighs dramatically, slumping back in his chair with a huff. Matthew, however, seems amused by the whole exchange. He gives a caw of laughter, ruffling his feathers.
"I told you she wouldn't tell," he teases Felix, hopping around on the table. Before Felix can respond, the library doors swing open and in walks what you can only describe as the palest goth you've ever seen with the most incredible eyes.
Lucienne straightens in her seat at the sight of him and clears her throat. "Lord Morpheus," she greets formally while you continue to gawk. Holy shit, this, is Morpheus!? Morpheus walks into the room, a picture of gothic elegance. He's taller than you expected, his lean form draped in dark coat that seem to drink in the light around him. But his eyes, his eyes are incredible. "Lord Morpheus," Lucienne repeats with more emphasis, eyeing you out of the corner of her spectacles.
You realize you've been caught staring and quickly avert your gaze, your cheeks burning with embarrassment. You'd heard tales about the Dream Lord, but seeing him in person is an entirely different experience. Matthew and Fēlix are silent for once, their playful banter dying on their lips as they too turn to acknowledge the ruler of this realm.
"Lucienne," Morpheus responds with a slight nod of his head. His voice is deep and velvety smooth, resonating through the library with an uncanny echo. It's as if he carries the whispers of countless dreams and nightmares within him. It's almost familiar to you, but you are fairly sure you would remember meeting a being like him. Even his voice matches his regalness, dripping with a poshness that you can only contribute to him being an Endless. Morpheus nods in response and turns his gaze towards you. His eyes hold an unreadable expression as he takes in your presence. "And who is this?"
You clear your throat and Lucienne seems to pick up on something because she suddenly stands from her seat and gestures towards you. "Kora," she says, catching your attention. "I don't believe you've formally met Lord Morpheus."
You blink at her words before turning to look at Morpheus again. Despite all the times you've seen shadows him around the palace, you've never really spoken to him or been formally introduced. Or really gotten a look at him. And yet... something about him feels familiar. His voice is too deep, too formal, for you to have met him before, surely.
"Lord Morpheus," Lucienne continues, gesturing towards you with an open palm. "This is Kora. She's been a great help around the palace and she's... well, she's become quite a fixture here in the Dreaming and a good friend to Matthew."
His gaze shifts to you again and he gives a slight nod of his head. "Kora," he says, his voice low and rich. "A pleasure to meet you." Oh you definitely would have remembered him with the way he speaks your name. Yet the pesky thought of familiarity still lingers.
You swallow nervously and give a small curtsy, suddenly feeling out of your depth. "The pleasure is all mine, Lord Morpheus," you reply, wracking your brain for some sort of idea on what you were supposed to do in the presence of an Endless. Your mind came up with nothing.
A slow smile curves Morpheus' lips. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything important," he says, his voice deep and resonating throughout the library. "What were you discussing?"
Matthew's beady eyes shift from you to Morpheus and back again, his raven head tilting in curiosity. Felix merely grins, the corners of his mouth twitching with barely concealed amusement. The raven's gaze is heavy on you, but you refuse to meet it.
"Oh, nothing much," you reply nonchalantly, trying to sound casual. "Just... discussing the possibility of a ball."
"A ball?" Matthew scoffs, flapping nearer and shaking out his feathers. "We were discussing your romantic escapades, girl!" You air out a screech of annoyance in the back of your throat and slapped a hand to your face. "Don't get sassy with me, you’re the one running around having sexcapades with one of the boss’ creations."
Matthew's laughter rings through the library, a series of sharp, raucous caws that echo off the high ceilings. He flutters his wings, sending a few loose feathers spiraling down to the floor.
"Oh, Kora!" he cackles, his beady eyes gleaming with mischief. "Your secret's out now!"
Morpheus, however, remains silent. A hint of amusement flickers in his incredible eyes, but he doesn't say a word. Instead, he watches you with an intensity that makes you squirm in place. His gaze lingers on you for a moment longer before he speaks. "It seems you've been enjoying your time in the Dreaming," he remarks, his voice painfully smooth. "I am… pleased, to hear that."
Oh you could crawl in a hole and die hearing him tell you that!
You feel a flush creep up your neck and settle on your cheeks at his words. Matthew squawks again, hopping around on the table with glee. "Oh, she's been enjoying it alright!" he teases, earning a glare from you.
"If the rotisserie speaks again, I am not helping him preen his feathers any further!" You hiss at the cackling bird.
Matthew pauses mid-caw and cocks his head at you. "Hey!" he protests. "You promised not to call me that anymore!"
"I did no—" you try to exclaim, but a wave of weariness overwhelms you, causing your sight to blur and the library, along with everyone in it, to lose focus. You blink, only to discover you're in your bed, with the gentle glow of dawn illuminating your room. "Oh, give me a break," you groan, pressing your palms to your eyes. "I can't believe I just had that conversation in front of Dream of the Endless."
Back in the Dreaming, Matthew watches as you disappear, his beady eyes filled with a strange sadness. He flutters back down to the table, his black feathers ruffling up around him like a cloak.
"It gets quiet when she's gone," he mutters to himself. He picks at his feathers with his beak, straightening them out with meticulous care.
Fēlix glances over at Matthew from where he's seated at the table. He gives a slow nod of agreement. "It does," he says softly. "The palace isn't quite the same without her."
Lucienne adjusts her glasses and returns to her book without comment, but there's a tightness around her eyes that wasn't there before. Even Morpheus seems affected by your departure. His incredible eyes hold a far-off look as he gazes at the spot where you disappeared from.
For a long moment, silence fills the library — a silence that's not quite comfortable. It's a silence filled with thoughts unspoken and words unsaid. A silence that speaks volumes about how much they all miss you when you're gone.
Finally, Matthew breaks it with a soft sigh. "I miss her when she's not here," he admits quietly. The others don't respond right away, but there's no need for words. In their own ways, they all miss you too.

The Art of Love Chapter 13
Chapter 12 here
******
"Have a seat, Toshinori," you motioned to the chair across from your desk. "Let's talk." He did just as you asked, and sat down. "I won't take up too much of your time, young Y/N. I just wanted to say my piece. I consider Shouta a good friend, and he has not been himself since you broke things off with him. He's never been a happy-go-lucky kind of man in general, but he's been borderline sulking since you ended things." You felt your heart sink at these words, because the fact of the matter was; you were feeling the same way. Even though you only dated for a few weeks and you're the one who ended it, you missed him dearly.
"I think what bothers him the most is that he doesn't truly know why you ended it. Maybe if you told him, it could give him some closure, and he can move on?" You couldn't help yourself, you put your head into your hands and started bawling at his words. Toshinori then stood up, leaned across your desk, and put his hand on your shoulder. "Young Y/N, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry." You looked up at him saying, "it's not you, Toshinori. It's just that you're right. I only told him that I didn't see a future with him, but the fact is, that couldn't be further from the truth. I was starting to fall in love with him."
Toshinori sat back down at these words, and you began to tell him your true reasonings why you broke things off with Shouta. You explained the situation with Kento, and the promise you made to yourself at his funeral. You explained how you thought Kento would want you to move on, and you did try with Shouta, but with the news of The Paranormal Liberation Front, you got scared and ended things with him to protect your heart. You also told him about the dream you had about Shouta. Toshinori looked at you thoughtfully while you explained all of this to him.
"What you are saying makes complete sense, wanting to protect your heart especially after all of the trauma you have been through. At the same time, though, you can't isolate yourself; you won't be happy in the end. And as you said, your Kento wouldn't want that for you. I speak from experience when I say Shouta Aizawa is a good man, and despite everything happening in the world right now, he makes it his duty to protect those he cares for. I know opening your heart back up may be scary and overwhelming, but you're never going to know until you try. Making yourself vulnerable could be the key to connection. I know this isn't a magical, cure-all answer, but it's something to think about."
You had a lot more thinking to do. You thought of Eri's words earlier, and even she picked up on Shouta being sad. And now with Toshinori's words...you just didn't know what to do. You looked over at Toshinori and gave him a faint smile, saying "thank you." He smiled in return, "it was my pleasure, Y/N. I just don't want to see something that could possibly blossom into something beautiful go away. And I think what you and Shouta could have is beautiful. I will get out of your hair now, but I appreciate you taking the time to at least hear me out."
As he stood up, you stood up with him. You walked around to the other side of your desk where he was standing and pulled him into a big hug. "Thank you," you said again. He smiled at you once more, then took his leave from your classroom. You decided to look over the students' puzzles the following day; you needed to take this time to sort out your feelings about Shouta. Before you left, you looked over again at the picture of you and Kento. If you were truly going to move forward, it was time to take his picture down. You grabbed the picture frame, put it in your purse, and walked out of the school to go home.
Once you got home, you pulled the picture of you and Kento out of your purse and looked at it for several minutes. The picture was taken right after you became engaged, and you were so incredibly happy. That was in the past, though. You took the picture into your bedroom and gently placed it in one of your dresser drawers. One thing that really stood out to you that Toshinori said was making yourself vulnerable again. Maybe this was a leap you should take?
You sat down on your couch and thought about everything a little more. Deep down in your heart, you knew you deserved to be happy, and Shouta could potentially be a reason to add to your happiness. You got up from the couch, went over to your purse and pulled out your phone. You looked up the last messages between you and Shouta, which were from several weeks ago, and texted him, "Hi Shouta, could we talk this weekend?"

Do I know you?||D.M
It was a crisp autumn day. The air was tinged with the earthy scent of fallen leaves and the faint aroma of wood smoke from nearby chimneys.
The trees, dressed in hues of fiery red, burnt orange, and golden yellow, whispered softly in the breeze as their leaves danced gracefully to the ground, creating a colourful carpet beneath my feet.
I stood concealed next to a towering oak tree, its rough bark cool against my back.
My heart felt heavy, burdened by guilt and an overwhelming sense of indecision that gnawed at me relentlessly. Across the narrow street, a quaint little bookshop between two bustling cafés caught my eye. The soft, warm glow of the shop’s interior beckoned, and I could see her through the window, illuminated by the welcoming light.
Y/n, my pregnant fiancée, browsed thoughtfully among the shelves, her fingers trailing along the spines of the books as if seeking the comfort of their stories. I could see the gentle curve of her belly beneath her cozy sweater, a silent testament to the new life we had created together.
Each breath she took seemed to radiate a serene beauty, yet I felt a pang of anguish twisting in my gut. I wanted to approach her, to wrap my arms around her and whisper assurances, but the weight of my secret held me back like a heavy fog that distorted my thoughts and clouded my resolve.
She flipped through the pages of a book with a gentle smile, her hair catching the sunlight in a way that made my breath catch in my throat. I had watched her from afar for months, unable to tear my gaze away. She was beautiful, radiant, and oblivious to who I was.
And that was my doing.
I had used a spell to erase all memories of me—of us—entirely from her mind. I made this decision in a moment of desperate clarity, knowing that the chaos surrounding us could potentially ensnare her in a danger far greater than she could imagine.
She deserved a life free of the burdens and horrors that accompanied my existence. I couldn't bear to think of her caught in the crossfire of the dark forces at play, particularly with our child on the way. I remembered how radiant she looked, how full of hope and dreams she was, and I realized that the world I inhabited would only tarnish that light.
The stakes were higher than anyone could fathom. If anyone discovered that I was engaged to a muggle and had fathered a child with her, the consequences would be disastrous. My parents would undoubtedly react with horror and outrage, dragging both her and our child into a whirlwind of scandal and danger, perhaps even subjecting them to threats I couldn't bear to contemplate.
So, with a heavy heart, I cast the spell, watching as the memories of our shared laughter, our stolen moments, and the love we nurtured vanished into thin air. It felt like cutting a vital thread in the tapestry of my life, yet deep down, I believed I was doing the right thing. I hoped that somewhere in her mind, she would find peace, free from the weight of my legacy.
When the war finally drew to a close, leaving a haunting silence that echoed in my mind, my heart raced as I contemplated the weight of my choices. Should I return the memories of us to her? The thought of revealing myself filled me with dread, for it threatened to shatter the fragile peace she had managed to cultivate in my absence.
Yet, despite the overwhelming uncertainty, I could not shake my magnetic pull toward her. Each day, I gravitated toward Y/n, unable to resist the deep longing in my heart. It was like an invisible thread connected us that could not be severed by time or absence. She wore her laughter like a shimmering cloak, her gentle smile lighting up even the darkest corners of my soul, while her innate kindness remained a warm balm for the wounds I carried.
These memories, though bittersweet, were etched into my mind, serving as poignant reminders of what I had willingly surrendered when I erased her past. I had stripped her of memories that defined her, and in doing so, I had stolen pieces of myself as well. I questioned whether I even had the right to seek redemption. Did I deserve to be a father when my own actions had robbed her of a life that was rightfully hers?
In this moment of deep introspection, the stakes felt impossibly high. The future loomed uncertain, a vast canvas waiting for me to decide how to paint it. Would I reveal the truth, risking everything for honesty and reconnection? Or would I quietly fade into the shadows, allowing her to continue in the peaceful oblivion I had created? The thought tormented me, and in that turmoil, I felt the weight of my failures pressing heavily on my chest.
Lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice her stepping out of the bookshop until she bumped into me, her eyes widening in surprise.
"I'm so sorry," she said, her voice soft and melodic. "I wasn't paying attention to where I was going."
I smiled, a bittersweet feeling spreading through me. "It's quite alright. I should have been more careful as well."
She studied me momentarily, a flicker of recognition passing through her eyes before it was gone, replaced by curiosity. "Have we met before? You seem familiar."
I hesitated, my heart pounding in my chest. Should I tell y/n the truth? Should I give her back what I had taken all those months ago?
But then I looked into her eyes, full of innocence and unspoken trust, and knew what to do.
"No, we haven't met before," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I'm just passing through."
She smiled a little sadly. "Well, it's nice to meet you. I'm Y/N."
Y/n. The name echoed in my mind, a painful reminder of what I had lost. What I had chosen to sacrifice for her sake.
"It's nice to meet you too, Y/n. I'm Draco," I replied, forcing a smile onto my face. "I hope you have a wonderful day."
With that, I turned and walked away, leaving her standing on the sidewalk with a puzzled expression. I didn't look back; I couldn't bear the confusion and hurt in her eyes.
I silently vowed to myself as I entered Diagon Alley: I would leave her be, let her live without the burden of the past weighing her down, and carry the memory of her, of us, locked away in my heart forever.
I don't deserve her or my child. They are better off without me, without someone like me, someone tainted by Voldemort's mark, someone who wasn't troubled and didn't even know who they were anymore.
She deserved the best, and that wasn't me, and she needs to find that
Because sometimes, the greatest act of love is letting go.
"Goodbye, Y/n."

what are your top That Girl tips?
Three laws of stoicism in interpersonal relationships
One of the most powerful principles you can adopt is the core of Stoic philosophy: understanding that the only things you can truly control are your reactions, your actions, and your behavior towards others. When you focus on these three areas, you become less affected by external circumstances and more centered in yourself. This approach helps you maintain your inner peace, regardless of what’s happening around you. By choosing how you respond to challenges, how you conduct yourself in relationships, and how you treat others, you cultivate a resilience that becomes the foundation of your character. This also allows you to be kind and supportive without compromising your own well-being.
Be consistent, even when it’s hard
Consistency is key to growth and success. There will be days when you feel like you’ve completely messed up, when it seems like everything has gone wrong, or when you’ve strayed from your goals—whether it’s with your diet, your routines, or your personal growth. The important thing is not to view these moments as reasons to give up or start over. Instead, see them as opportunities to learn and improve. Consistency doesn’t mean perfection, it means persistence. Even if you slip up, pick yourself up and keep moving forward.
Remember, "learn to rest, not to give up." This is especially important when it comes to areas like food and fitness. Many people, particularly those trying to lose weight, fall into the trap of extreme dieting or starving themselves. While this might offer short-term results, it almost always leads to long-term problems, including physical and mental health issues. Sustainable change comes from balanced, consistent effort—not from extremes.
Eat what your grandmother would recognize as food
In a world filled with processed foods and trendy supplements, it’s crucial to return to the basics. A piece of advice that has always stuck with me is to "eat what your grandmother would consider food." This means choosing whole, unprocessed foods that are rich in nutrients, rather than relying on questionable powders and supplements. It’s about appreciating food as fuel for the temple that is your body. Understanding the nutritional value of what you consume helps you make better choices that support your health and well-being. Supplements can have their place, but they should be used thoughtfully and under medical guidance. Many of them aren’t subjected to strict regulations, and without proper oversight, they can do more harm than good. So, focus on real, wholesome foods to nourish your body.
Do things immediately, don’t procrastinate
Procrastination is the enemy of progress. Often, we put off tasks because they seem overwhelming or because we don’t feel ready. However, the longer we wait, the more daunting those tasks become. One of the best habits you can develop is to take a deep breath and just do what needs to be done. Whether it’s sending that email, starting that project, or making that difficult phone call—action is always better than delay. When you tackle things immediately, you not only clear them off your plate but also build momentum and confidence. Delaying tasks only leads to stress and missed opportunities. By facing things head-on, you empower yourself to take control of your time and your life.
Be open to listening, but stand firm in your values
Being open-minded and willing to listen to others is a strength, not a weakness. It shows that you respect other people’s opinions and that you are always ready to learn and grow. However, being open doesn’t mean being easily swayed. It’s important to have a strong sense of your own values and beliefs, and to hold onto them, even as you consider new perspectives. Listening is about understanding and empathy, not about changing who you are to fit someone else’s mold. By being both open and firm, you can engage with the world in a way that is both compassionate and true to yourself.
Nurture your spirituality
Spirituality is a deeply personal aspect of life, but it’s one that deserves attention. Whether your spirituality is tied to a religion, meditation, a connection to nature, or something else entirely, nurturing it can bring a sense of peace and purpose to your life. It helps you stay grounded and gives you a sense of direction, especially during challenging times. Regular practices that connect you to your spiritual side, such as meditation, prayer, or spending time in nature, can help you maintain a balanced and centered life. This inner peace reflects in your interactions with the world, making you more resilient and compassionate.
