Okay so personal post but my mama and I hang out sometimes and whenever we go out people don't automatically assume she's my mother.

Like, we probably look about the same age now (she had me at sixteen and honestly looks young for her age) and we talk like we're best friends.

I'm an adult for those who dont know so most of the time we're talking about work and other things (very not mother-spawn like) So our conversations only add to that assumption.

So for context I'm actually decently androgynous, and it's a running joke between her and I that she'll sometimes call me daughter, sometimes son, and sometimes "my spawn", literally just whatever comes out first.

So the other day I was dressed uber masc and we were standing in a store and she calls me daughter when she says it's my turn to pay.

And the cashier just stares blankly at us for a solid twenty seconds before going,

"Would you like your receipt... ma'am?"

And honestly like 10/10 to her for trying to respect what she believes were my pronouns.

It wasn't necessarily euphoric, but totally validating as a gender-fluid person that no matter what I look like people would still be open to try.
