here's the thing

When i was a kid, i ADORED watching LDShadowlady (still love her, although i generally don't watch mcyts anymore), and she's like an idol to me.

When i grew up a little, i was watching the dsmp (yes, hate me all you want for my likes idc, i wasn't one of the crazys) and I really liked Technoblade, Tommyinnit and Ranboo. I still follow them, though as i said, don't watch as frequently.

Yesterday, my mom and aunt were discussing how ridiculous it is to watch people play video games, saying 'just play the games yourself' or 'where's the satisfaction? It's someone else's accomplishment' and other things like that

And then i realised - it was never about the game. It was about the story.

Shadowcraft 1 and 2.0 were absolutely wonderful to watch. I loved it because of her charisma mostly, but you can't deny that it had interesting lore and such.

Empires, 'insert number/word' Life series, Hermicraft, Dream freaking SMP, and for the sake of nostalgia series like Stampy's Lovely World, Stayceplayz and Squaishy (i think that's their names, i haven't watched them in years) and their Cake Island in space (or whatever it was, those who know will know)... They all have LORE.

In it's core, all these people playing Minecraft are telling a story. And it's not some shit story, no it's meaningful and fun and interesting. These are people born to create, born to tell stories, but maybe don't have the gift of being amazing writers or directors or never got the chance they should've. YouTube and Minecraft were ways to express yourself, share a piece of yourself and your work with the masses without needing to be published or hired to write.

You wouldn't shame directors or actors or writers for doing the same exact thing. So why shame these people? What have they done that's wrong?

Just like a director, you choose how it'll all look. You produce your own sets, and costumes and have actors. In it's core, it's all an indie movie/series.

The older generations don't realise that what some people you don't consider artists do almost the same thing as people you shame and call 'attention seekers' (yes, mom, I'm looking at you)

So there was this post about Ranboo actually being tiny tom. Now I know absolutely barely anything about the Dream smp. But I imagine, Jimmy and Ranboo meeting. Jimmy doesn't believe it and Ranboo is wondering why this guy is looking at him weird. Jimmy laughs a bit as if he just got a joke and Ranboo play along. Jimmy says: "Tom?" and Ranboo goes: "You uhhh, got the wrong person."

Then Jimmy takes out his arm and pops it off his elbow showing wood inside of them. Revealing he's a toy. Like Tom. Ranboo realizes it and stretched out his own arm and tried his best to pull it off.

And it works.

His hand is off from his arm and there is wood inside. Ranboo let's out a breath he did not know he was holding. "How?" He says. "Son, I never thought I'd see you again."

Son? Ranboo doesn't believe it. "I'm nonbinary." "Oh! Sorry kid. Your old man is still a bit shocked." Jimmy responds.

"So... is my name really Tom?" "Tiny Tom. You were so small." "Do I have another parent?" "Yes, you were also given up for adoption. So you have two other parents other else from me."

"Wait... Aren't you in MCC? So how do you look so young?" Ranboo tilts his head.

"Time works differently when crossing different servers." "How about my powers?" "Powers huh. I'm not suprised. You're an enderman toy but your father, other father, is a god."

"A god?" Ranboo was processing this.

"You took that surprisingly well." "I've gone through some stuff." Ranboo cracked a smile.

"Ohh, come here!" Jimmy grinned and wrapped his arms around His son. "I'm glad to see you too, dad." Ranboo returned the favor.

thinking about Jimmy and Tommy interacting in my au.

thinking about how Jimmy looks too similar to Dream for Tommy not to be put on edge. Too much green, mainly, and Gods help Tommy if Jimmy decides to wear a hood that day.

fWhip could talk highly about Jimmy all he wanted, but seeing a man in green with a mask is setting Tommys' anxiety off tenfold. He's uncomfortable. He's distrusting. He's scared.

Then fWhip mentions how fun it is to rile the Codfather up, and Tommy immediately decides to never step foot in the swamp again. Dream was just like that, once, and Tommy was in fWhips' place. Then Dream changed for the worse, and that domino falling led to Tommys' death. He doesn't want to die again.

But Jimmy and Tommy are also so similar.

They both fought tooth and nail for their discs. They both are referred to as annoying and insufferable by their peers, even if for differing reasons. They both have an older sibling they look up to dearly (or at least, Tommy did have one). They're both familiar with the looks of exasperation at their presence from others, the not-so-playful eye rolls, the dismissal from friends, the need to prove themselves.

Jimmy and Tommy could make amazing friends if they weren't scared. If Tommy wasn't scared that Jimmy is another Dream. If Jimmy wasn't scared of fWhips' wrath if he were to upset Tommy. After all, the ravine and stealing his Codfather head was fWhip being playful, what would he do if he was actually angry with Jimmy?

Just, their dynamic is very interesting to me.

Daisy_moon-is an author for Empires smp. She also writes life series and a little bit of Dsmp.

Glitter Gang-is a modern set chatfic, with Dsmp, Empires smp, Life series, and others. Tommy decides to prank Gogy by dumping glitter on him. The only problem is that he doesn't have glitter. He asks around for glitter, and all the characters and friends have to deal with lots of chaotic fun.

In a timeline where players are not whitelisted to the Dream SMP until they reach the age of majority, there is no drug van, no L'Manberg, no Doomsday, no Disc Finale, and no Pandora's Vault. However, in the aftermath of Sapnap's latest bout of troublemaking, the Egg awakens and establishes its empire, and despite the server's admin debugging the virus down to bedrock, the Dream SMP now has a brand-new public enemy number one.

(or: Due to one simple rule change at the Dream SMP's creation, BadBoyHalo is now the reviled and distrusted villain of the server instead of Dream.)

Some notes:

No new tags that I saw this month, though as always I could have missed something! As you can see, we already have quite the assortment of canonized tags.

Fics are still primarily in english, but we have three exceptions with significant spanish fics. Karmaland (740 of 842 are in spanish, from 731 last month), Tortillaland (110 of 115 are in spanish, the same as last month), and QSMP (752 of 7,375 are in spanish, from 668 last month.)

QSMP also shows 39 fics in French, up from 30 last month, and 405 in Brasilian Portugese, up from 375 last month. While I did not check every language this month, I checked on the languages I knew had a fic in QSMP and we see 1 fic in ASL (probably a misclick as it appears to be in english), 1 fic in Bahasa Malaysia, 1 fic in German, 1 fic in Esperanto, 1 fic in Filipino, 5 works in European Portugese, 5 fics in Русский (Russian), 1 fic in Suomi (Finnish), 1 fic in Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese), and 3 fics in 中文-普通话 國語 (Mandarin Chinese, I believe), all the same as last month. New is two fics in Polski (Polish), one fic in Svenska (Swedish), and one fic in Dansk (Danish).

In the small and micro fandoms (under 200 fics), some of the most active small fandoms have grown out of this category so we only saw small amounts of growth. The standout fandoms all saw an increase of 6 works, and that was a tie between Content SMP, New Life SMP, and Witchcraft SMP. Note that Content SMP was coming up from only 24 works, so 6 new works is an increase of 25% of the fandom, truly impressive.

In the midsize fandoms (200-1000), Fable SMP has broken that 1000-fic mark and can no longer qualify for our standout fandom! Instead, our most active fandom was Evolution SMP, with 33 new works, followed by Mystreet with 20 fics and Minecraft: Story Mode with 24 fics. Mystreet and Story Mode are both new fandoms so it's unclear whether that's people retagging old work or true new fics.

For the post-canon big fandoms: Empires went up by 178 works, singificantly more than last month's 117, but not beating the previous month's 240, and Dream SMP's increase of 918 beat the previous month's 767, but is still only the second time I've seen this fandom fall under a thousand works plus a month. Hermitcraft is between seasons right now, but still experienced that holiday exchange boost, as its increase of 784 beat both last month's 574 and the previous month's 651. For active fandoms, traffic series posted a staggering 831 fics, which is its highest ever number, beating April 2023's 671 fics. QSMP saw 865 fics, which is part of a three month decline (894 last month, 913 the month before), but still posting numbers that are only exceeded by DSMP.

Overall, the number of fics posted under Video Blogging-RPF (the umbrella fandom that contains all MCYT) is 4,223 fics, a significant increase from last month's 3,489, and the previous month's 4,035, but still exceeded by October's record 4,702. Notably, it's higher than the summer numbers and almost exactly the same as the number we saw last January, 4,235 new works.
