I'm usually my buddy Knyx's Emotional Support Extrovert at his holiday work dinner on account of his social anxiety, but this year there's a "no friends" policy and we may just have a friend holiday dinner by him and ditch instead.
This is funny to me, I am not sure why.
#I THINK it's my role as emotional support extrovert#I think the fact that I am in this role often that I find vaguely delightful#like I'm some sort of dog or small horse you take to a work event so you're not stressed out#the dragoon diaries#and the sheer disdain he had for the no friends rule like. Fuck This. immediately.

Hey FFIV fans, do you ever think about:
• Kain Highwind actually talks a fair bit at the start of the game, was ready to interrupt the meeting with the king, readily gives Cecil unasked for emotional support, and despite holding in his love for Rosa for at least some time, once shit hits the fan he almost immediately blurts it out in Mist
whereas
• Cecil sometimes even late in the game has a real hard time collecting his thoughts and saying them out loud. He freezes up in personal interactions with Golbez and just sorta . . . follows Fusoya's lead on the moon. Our first glimpse of him is brooding on the Red Wings airship and he doesn't say anything to his upset men until they are actively questioning their orders, a big deal in a military to even reach that point. He always moves on quickly to the next goal in conversations (as much just limited dialogue constraints on the SNES but you know). People in Baron were afraid of him as a Dark Knight and Cid and Rosa have to seek him out to get him to talk
and
• the Baron monarchy seems to be elective. Kain has his own inheritance from his biodad. That's the sharp difference between Kain and Cecil's beginning as young men - Cecil has only what the King is able and willing to give him. And the dragoons are a long and storied order, but using dark knights is new for Baron and makes everybody uncertain. Kain ends up angsting over his connection to his dad at the end of the game but he seems emotionally centered with it in the opening, enough that Cecil comments he envies him and Kain doesn't say that's weird of him to feel. And Rosa's mom apparently liked Kain for Rosa instead of Cecil
so . . . it may be that . . . Kain and Cecil before the game starts are the inversion of their popular archetypes that creep into a lot of fan portrayals of them, my own included! Fun! Cecil was the awkward brooding loner and Kain the open, communicative golden child at court. Then everything goes to hell in a handbasket and we see them switch over the course of the game

Storm Soldier (Monster)
(Art by Anonynmous)
(I considered playing coy with my inspiration here, but let's be clear with it- this a fantasy 40k Space Marine, played not as protagonists but as tragic yet terrifying monsters for the more humanist playgroups most of my RPG experience belongs to. Statting them up as monsters, in my mind, helps distance players from the power fantasy of it; if you ever wanted a ragtag pack of underdogs to bring those marty stu marines down a peg, well, here's a monster to kill! And you if you want a sad little war machine your players can adopt and deprogram, it's the same deal.
By the way, I have them statted up as scattered force that can be dropped into any setting, but I'd love to use them as the terrifying enforcers of one of the more powerful political players in a world, like they are in 40k.)
CR8 LE Large Monstrous Humanoid
Also called storm marines, storm dragoons, and thunder warriors, storm soldiers are the result of painful fleshwarping techniques being used on young human soldiers, turning them into massive and obedient soldiers. Unlike with the creations of the drow, it is generally humans of a storm soldier's own culture who turn them into such monsters- leaders who value them more as weapons than as people. The process is traumatic and violent, and involves not only reshaping the flesh, but conditioning the mind to be loyal soldiers before all else. This leaves the storm soldier with a distant sense of her past life and a lot of buried trauma. They are functionally immortal, and often outlive the regime which created them. Storm soldiers are difficult to create, and those who do tend to spread their soldiers thin, with one or two storm soldiers assigned to a squad of mundane soldiers as linebreakers, guardians, and support.
This is not always the case, however. Centuries ago, a powerful shaman amassed a legion of these soldiers in a harebrained attempt to take over the world and unite it under his idea of order. His forces, however, became fractured- although sources differ on how, with some claiming the influence of a specific breed of fiend, and others believing it was a mundane power struggle. The result of this fracture was the death of the shaman, along with most of his generals, and the small remains of his forces scattered to the corners of the world. To this day they live in deadly xenophobic warbands; in particular, they have a hatred for elves, orks, and skeletons, although most still clash with each other in echoes of the original split.
Storm giants notably have a strong emotional reaction to storm soldiers; evil groups of giants typically do what they can to scourge them of the earth, but good-aligned storm giants tend to feel extreme pity and often attempt rehabilitation of storm soldiers. Younger storm soldiers (that is, less than a couple hundred years old) are often a success in this endeavor, but those as ancient as the shaman’s army are almost universally too far gone.
Some rulers believe that storm soldiers can only be created out of men, although this is generally considered to be a laughable falsehood.
This hulking woman wields a massive shield and weighty warhammer. She towers over her companions, and her eyes are leaking a glowing fluid. Merlin BBC UK TV Show - A Psychological Analysis Series Part 13
The Meaning Of Pendragon In The TV Show
The 3 prominent characters in the TV show who bear the Pendragon last name are Uther, Arthur and Morgana.
The name has its origin in the Old Welsh language
The Arthurian legends were mainly written in the medieval age.
However Arthur's literary origins lie in the Dark ages.
The TV creators have already stated it was their intention to reinterpret Arthurian legends using a modern Smallville format which is modern American in its narrative.
Source:
Even though the TV show does not specify the time period it is set in, it uses a lot of medieval imagery such as plated armor, chain mail, carriages etc.. which were all medieval inventions.
So this dark age last name used within a medieval world but portrayed through a modern 21st century American narrative takes a whole new meaning.
The show also gives us a literal meaning to Pendragon as Uther even sent a dragon to the pen ( Kilgaragh is imprisoned underneath the cavern of Camelot )
Here the name takes the overtures of being a TYRANT.
______________________________________________________________
Uther:
He fits the classic definition of a tyrant.
I don't even have to list all of Uther's crimes because Merlin as Dragoon literally calls him a tyrant to his face listing all his misdeeds in the following clip:
youtube
It is Uther who lends his last name to Morgana and Arthur and all the baggage that comes with it.
______________________________________________________________
Morgana:
It is very telling that the moment Morgana realizes that Uther is her father, she rejects Uther as she does not want to associate with what Uther Pendragon represents.
However the Pendragon traits soon manifests within her as she undergoes the tragic transformation from being a brave and loyal friend who helped a lowly servant by going to his village and helping him defend it to being this embittered villainess who shows dictatorial traits.
Her struggle for self acceptance as a magical being and protesting against the persecution of magic users soon manifests as a crusade against the non magical users based on revenge.
The Pendragon legacy here acts as a genetic pathological mental illness that is triggered through grief and betrayal. Morgana being poisoned by Merlin being the trigger for Morgana as Ygraine's death was for Uther.
______________________________________________________________
Arthur:
Uther is the typical distant and repressive fatherly figure who has channeled all his hopes and emotions on his sole male heir i.e. Arthur.
Arthur had a strict military training who is only allowed to show his masculine, aggressive side
Unlike Morgana, Arthur constantly feels the pressure to live up to Pendragon name. The Sword in the Stone: Part 1 and 2 episodes perfectly highlights Arthur's insecurities.
Merlin who is privy to Arthur's psyche more than anyone in the series, has seen the Pendragon rage manifest in Arthur such as:
Arthur willing to kill Uther (Refer Episode: The Sins of the Father)
Arthur banishing Gwen under the punishment of death (Refer Episode: Lancelot Du Lac)
Arthur vowing vengeance against Agravaine (Refer Episode: The Sword in the Stone Part 1)
Arthur vows to punish Dragoon after Uther dies (Refer Episode: The Wicked Day)
In all the above situations, it is Merlin who provides counsel and/or emotional support to Arthur to exercise prudence and not give in to his rage.
IT IS ONE OF THE KEY REASON WHY MERLIN DOES NOT REVEAL HIS MAGIC TO ARTHUR UNTILL THE VERY END !!!
youtube
The dialogue in the scene above is very revealing.
ARTHUR: Why did you never tell me?
MERLIN: I wanted to but...
ARTHUR: What?
MERLIN: You would have chopped my head off.
ARTHUR: I am not sure what I would have done
MERLIN: I did not want to put you in that position
ARTHUR: That's what worried you
Merlin knows the trigger for Pendragon rage is betrayal and grief.
Merlin knows it was his betrayal of Morgana that lead her down a dark path.
Had Merlin revealed his magic to Arthur earlier he would never have earned Arthur's trust to be in a position to counsel him during his darkest moments.
Merlin being the other half of Arthur as stated by Kilgaragh acts a superego for Arthur trying to counterbalance his aggressive Pendragon tendencies .
Kilgaragh had told Merlin it was his mission to mold Arthur into being a great king. (Refer Episode: Dragons' Call)
Merlin's influence on Arthur is really exemplified in the episode "Death Song Of Uther Pendragon" , where Arthur confronts Uther:
youtube
Merlin then confronts Uther's ghost, reiterating that Arthur is indeed very unlike Uther.
This episode ends with Arthur rejecting Uther and what Uther stands for, by blowing the Horn of Cathbhadh and sending Uther back to the spirit realm.
______________________________________________________________
In Conclusion:
It was a masterful stroke by the series creators to have Morgana and Arthur introduced to the audience in contrasting light. (Refer Episode: Dragons' Call)
Morgana is shown distressed as a man is executed by Uther for being a sorcerer whereas Arthur is seen bullying one of his squires.
The audience is only privy to the information that Arthur is Uther's son and Morgana is unrelated to Uther resulting in the viewer sympathizing with Morgana and rooting against Arthur.
However as the series progresses and as Morgana's identity is revealed. We see her succumb to the Pendragon traits despite her abject hatred of Uther . Whereas Arthur ultimately rejects Uther and Uther's ideology despite constantly seeking his validation throughout the series.
Morgana ( Hero to Villan ) and Arthur's ( Villan To Hero) character arc ends up in complete opposite directions from where they began.
Both characters are scarred by trauma, loss and betrayals they have experienced compounded by the less than stellar parenting of Uther Pendragon.
It is very poignant that the series ends with Gwen on the throne and not a Pendragon signifying a new future for Camelot.

the scions respond to finding out you self-harm
Estinien
estinien would not hide his staring as he tries to figure out if the marks on your wrist were made intentionally or not.
The thought of the azure dragoon figuring out you self-harm would be enough to make anyone's limbs turn to gelatin, expecting him to be critical and not understanding. however, when he sees the marks on your wrist, it is quite the opposite.
He tells you you your scars are no reason for shame
After all, he cannot pretend as though his own scars - caused by his conflict with dragons - were not borne out of the selfsame desire for vindication, or penance. is that not a form of self-harm in and of itself?
estinien is not going to tell you to stop. he knows that decision will have to be your own. but he will remind you of a principle in dragoonhood he learned the hard way: vengeance and justice cannot coexist.
in the meantime, he will support you, as your comrade.
if you are partners - he will find your scars attractive. of course he doesn't WANT you to cut, but the indication of your struggle and survival despite it... he will be a sucker for it.
Thancred
Let's be honest: thancred's first instinct to seeing you self-harm would NOT be pretty. given what's happened to him, he will immediately assume you've been possessed by an ascian and restrain you
"i suppose you'd like to tell me what the hell you're doing? answer quickly."
when it becomes clear you are yourself, big brother mode kicks in. he immediately apologizes and softens.
it's not that he couldn't imagine you or anyone intentionally wanting to hurt themselves. he is no stranger to suicidal thoughts, nor the desire to bury yourself in your own suffering through addictive impulses. he's been around the block. if anyone gets how you feel, thancred does.
comforting someone of these feelings is not his strong suit, though. because he cares about you, he will try. it may feel a bit like tough-love, but you know he is trying to help you in the way he finds most effective.
he'll give you space to breathe, but he'll still be more consciously aware of you and your signs, and check in on you now and again.
he knows what it's like to hit a mental rock bottom. he doesn't want that to happen to you. he won't carry you, you have to work at it too, but he will be there at your side.
Alisaie
Alisaie would not at all be shocked. she knows the hardships you face and while she admires the strength you show through it all, she also understands why it would cause you to break like this.
she is also well familiar with how this sort of thing goes. maybe she has had a friend from the studium who self-harmed or once considered it herself.
she will let you vent to her about how you are feeling. she is a very good listener and an honest and thoughtful responder.
if would be the type to handle it well, Alisaie may lightheartedly threaten you to never do it again.
in either case, on a more serious note, she will remind you as she gives you a strong hug that she will always be here for you as you have been for her. you can lean on each other. she loves you very much.
Alphinaud
Alphinaud, however, is shocked. he never would have guessed - but he is still incredibly understanding.
he will ensure you he does not think any less of you for needing to do this.
like alisaie, he is familiar with this topic. if you are open to receiving it, he would off ideas for alternatives he has heard worked for others.
otherwise, he will make the both of you hot tea or hot cocoa and talk it out together. you were a team, and he would help you find a way to overcome this challenge, too.
with alphinaud, you will never be without someone to check your rationality and encourage you to push forward.
if you are comfortable with it, he will ask to see your wrist and offer his healing magicks on you.
G'raha
this guy would definitely get emotional about it. he can't help but wear his heart on his sleeve, and it hurts to know that you have been struggling so much.
he can relate to your feelings of feeling inferior, or helpless, or the need to take on suffering to spare others. so much.
it would hypocritical of him to ask you to stop, so he doesn't, though he does suggest that you two can be each other's accountability for mental health progress.
learning this side of you causes you both to connect with one another more deeply. the way g'raha sees it, it is a chance for a stone to be turned. both of you are only human, and you are messy, and that's okay. you can be messy together and help each other grow.
you are special to g'raha, and your scars, self-inflicted or not, are beautiful to him. now let's cheer up, okay?
Urianger
While Urianger will not exactly understand it, that does not at all mean he lacks in compassion
so long as you are comfortable with it, he would draw you close to him, giving you tender strokes on your hair, your back, maybe even the unmarred parts of your arm.
he would speak softly to you. you can be transparent about your emotions, or, if not, he will comfortably sit with you in silence as you calm down.
regardless, he will offer words of wisdom and encouragement entangled in a story he tells - perhaps of his own personal struggles or a tale he knows.
"remember, thou needst but have faith."
Krile
This is definitely unfamiliar territory for Krile, but she takes it in stride.
if you want to share, she will ask you questions about self-harm, why you do it, and how it helps so that she can understand it and figure out how to best be there for you.
regardless, she feels direct action is the best course. she offers to go on a walk with you, to get a bite to eat or simply enjoy the weather and companionship. maybe tataru will want your help in her latest hobby. or she and alphinaud could help you take up painting if that is more your style. anything to knock you out of your spiraling state and cheer you up in these moments
she would encourage you to quit, expressing privately that she is proud of you when she sees that you are clean, but understand that this sort of thing can be turbulent and takes time. but your little big sister won't stand to have you suffering alone.
whatever you need, she'll be there. she cares for you, even when she teases you, and wants to see you continuing to push on, even if you relapse. she wants to see you smile.

Since I'm not sure if I'll ever get the chance to properly touch on this in a fic because it's more character analysis than something I can properly include in dialogue/exposition without it being very awkwardly out of place and telling not showing, I figured I'd just dump it here. It's something I think about a lot whenever I write for post-Seed Destiny Athrun in a fic, because in so many ways, this is actually something of a non-magical "Ideal (Fake) Reality" situation that Durandal very nearly succeeded in pulling off, but ultimately failed at because Durandal overplayed his hand and underestimated Athrun's loyalty to his friends Kira, who was pulling triple duty opposing Athrun because Kira himself didn't agree with what Athrun was doing, protecting Cagalli, and supporting Cagalli at a time when she was powerless.
It's a trope I very much love in magical/sci-fi settings because it says a lot about the character and the lengths they'll go to get what they want (the willingness and determination to take the longer, harder path to make the dream reality vs the instant gratification option even if it's fake), and also just gives me so much to work with when I write when it comes to character motivation/dialogue/actions.
I feel like a lot of this gets missed in all the memes that he's (somewhat deservedly) suddenly a part of after Seed Freedom, because while Seed Freedom Athrun is very self-assured and confident in his course of action, he definitely took a long hard road (with more downs than ups, in my opinion) between Seed and Seed Destiny to get there.
(Rest behind the cut because there's a reason Athrun Zala is my favorite Seed character, and not just because he's got a lovely voice - thank you Ishida-san for that - and is easy on the eyes.)
When Athrun re-enlists in ZAFT and "continues" his life again as himself, he's given a choice thanks to Durandal's string-pulling: Resume the life that was planned for him by his parents and PLANT (his "destined" life, if you will), or find his way back to the life that he's chosen for himself (with Cagalli and Orb).
If he chose his "old" life, he would've had it all - the glory of being a decorated war veteran, a post as a FAITH member (resuming the role he'd previously gotten thanks to his father), a "Lacus Clyne" for his fiance, and the honor of being the pilot of the Legend (while being something of a "legend" himself). Durandal saw to it Athrun would've seamlessly resumed that life to all external appearances, even if it would've been an absolute sham behind closed doors. Athrun might be a decorated war veteran, but that came with a lot of trauma and grief - trauma from having to fight and kill at such a young age, grief at being the one to survive when those he'd called friends die around him, plus all the unresolved emotional turmoil and grief of having never been able to properly resolve things with his father and his genocidal ideals (because Patrick Zala, too, was a man who never got over his grief at losing Lenore during the Bloody Valentine Incident, and only became the way he did because of that). He might've had a highly coveted position within FAITH, but that power would ultimately be in service to Durandal (a head of state Athrun alternates between wanting to agree with and being directly at odds against). Durandal needed more capable "Yes men" ace pilots like Shinn Asuka to spread and enforce his plans, not people capable of thinking for themselves like Athrun (at least, Athrun got there after Operation Angel Down). The "Lacus Clyne", is, of course, Meer under the best cosmetic surgery money could buy, but she is nothing like Lacus Athrun knows and cares for as a friend and whose cause he had once lent his power to (and would again at the end of the Second War).
And the Legend? It might fit Athrun in name only (in the sense that he's the "legendary pilot who helped end the first Earth-PLANT War) but the entire suit (even if it had an updated OS for the DRAGOON system) doesn't even play to Athrun's core strengths as a pilot. It's almost comedic how Durandal didn't even bother tailoring the Legend to Athrun - the Saviour is more Athrun's style both as a spiritual successor to the Aegis and weapons load out, yet it's coincidental that it would end up in Athrun's hands. There's no way Durandal could've known and planned for the Saviour to go to Athrun, but Durandal arguably had that time with the Legend. In the episode where both the Destiny and Legend are revealed, Durandal made a point of telling Shinn the Destiny was fine tuned to him, but neglects to tell Athrun much about the Legend beyond the DRAGOON system and the updated OS for it (the closest Athrun arguably ever came to a DRAGOON system was flying right past Kira and Rau's duel in front of Genesis at the end of Seed).
On the flip side of that, there's the life Athrun had chosen for himself after the first Earth-PLANT War. It's not an ideal life, not by any means - the fact he's essentially a powerless civilian with no means to reach for his ultimate goal chafes him to no end, especially when there's the ever-looming threat of Cagalli getting taken away from him due to circumstances neither of them want nor are able to deal with. Cagalli can't get out of the arranged marriage, Athrun as "Alex Dino" has no claim to power and as "Athrun Zala" would only invite larger scale international problems - even if Athrun himself has no political ties to PLANT, his family name says plenty. Athrun is patient, yes, but even his patience has a limit, and seemingly losing Cagalli to someone he doesn't respect and she doesn't love (in a reversal of Athrun's situation with Lacus and Kira) pushes him to action out of desperation. And while it puts him at odds with Kira and Cagalli (including lashing out at both of them when Cagalli finally breaks down and gives in and gets coerced into going through with the arranged marriage), it does also get him to realize that he's not the same person he was before the war - he's no longer capable of living that same life he had before, where he would fight where his country tells him because that's the fastest way to end the war. The easy (destined, if you will) option is no longer an acceptable choice for him, because it's not the one that ultimately leaves him fulfilled and truly happy with the one he loves in the end.
And it's this that ultimately brings him back to Cagalli and the (Infinite) Justice, metaphorically reclaiming his sense of justice (ha ha). He's always going to be looking for a cause to serve, and a just cause by his own terms, because he's dedicated far too much of his life serving in the military to just stop doing that and he's spent too much time around Lacus to just mindlessly follow whatever the higher ups say, anymore. So this leaves the only way forward: serve under a head of state whose ideals he can agree with, with the freedom of choice to act according to his own sense of justice, and to that end, there's only one choice for him - return to Orb and Cagalli.
#gundam seed destiny#athrun zala#asucaga#ish mostly because it's impossible for me to write an essay on athrun without mentioning his relationship with cagalli#i have so many thoughts about athrun#while i do find it amusing fandom perception of athrun went from indecisive chick magnet to cagalli's number 1 simp#there's more to him than that that's lost in the quagmire that is seed destiny#and it's all things i try to bring out or hint at when I write him#also the whole Durandal gives Athrun the Legend thing will never be not hilarious#dude has everything planned down to a T with the Destiny Plan and the best he can do is assign Athrun the Legend?#like talk about obvious I know you've betrayed me energy#i tried to keep this essay as focused as possible#even if i have a million thoughts running in my head like hamsters in a wheel because i've loved seed since i saw it back in 2003#okay i'm bordering on an essay in the tags too so i'll just shut up and post this now and ramble more later lol

Finally making an OC info post- by no means is this all of them, just ones that are most active and/or live in my head rent free.
First up- Rhys (DnD 5e - Rime of the Frostmaiden)
20 years Old, Half Orc, Half Elf (sweet baby angel) , He/Him
Fighter- Echo Knight
Absolute Ray of Sunshine; Rhys is from Icewind Dale; more specifically the Nomadic Reghed Tribe of the Elk.
He's unfamiliar with the outside world and even includes settlements in his own country
He's a Himbo basically a big dog.
This campaign lead him to leaving his tribe for the first time after an unfortunate accident which turned him into a small 'painted child' and searching for his missing sister. (both these are sorted now!)
*Rhys found an old oil painting of this child, blacked out and next thing he knew he was that small elf child. Her skin and clothing having the texture of painted canvas, and bleeds paint.
For a good chunk of the campaign he was just a totally normal elf- whose shadow didn't match with the body
---
Dhalas (DnD 5e Annalor)
36 Years Old, They/Him, Triton
Drunken Master Monk
Chill surfer dude vibes
Part of a travelling circus, They're a balancing act
Extremely laid back, Dhalas talks like they fight- dancing around, seemingly without rhyme or reason and occasionally clumsy.
---
Foxglove (BG3)
138 Years old (tweaked her age a lil), She/They, Drow
Arcane Trickster Rogue
Guild Artisan Background- Locksmith & Apprentice Finesmith
Chill and sassy, that Tav who talks their way out of shit.
Skews Towards Chaotic Good
Presents Androgynous most of the time
Must lockpick everything- she's not actually super interested what's inside, she just wants to see the workmanship of the locks and trashtalk how bad they are.
Yeah she's smooching the vampire. (and Halsin)
Naturally cares for others, even at the cost of her own wellbeing.
Has a Phobia of anything touching/going near her eyes- so the start of the game is A Time for Fox.
---
Arslan Dhoro (FFXIV)
21 Years Old (as of ARR), He/Them
Xaela AuRa
Dragoon - White Mage Main (All healer classes tbh)
Stoic, Resting Angry Face Himbo
He struggles to show emotion but he's just pretty shy and cautious about opening up to others.
From the Azim Steppe, he left in his early teens with his father after the death of his mother, to explore the world beyond the Steppe.
His Father Died in his late teens, attacked in Coerthas thinking he and Arslan were Dravanians.
He's extremely soft and protective for the Scions/his friends
---
Shiv (DnD 5e Saltmarsh- campaign completed)
Awful, terrible lesbian
68 years old, She/Her, Halfling
Celestial Warlock - Unicorn Patron w/ a Baby Phoenix familiar, Toby
A piece of shit. Is an absolute asshole and wont let you know she cares.
Lowkey magical girl
Ex-smuggler, who's patron is literally 'I can fix her', 'she can be a better person'. Part of the 'Beyond Skeletons' Pirate crew, she's the medic of the crew.
---
Pymmyr Tathnel (DnD 5e)
Pym
85 Years Old, He/They, Drow
Gloomstalker Ranger
Emotional Support Blink Dog, Princess Liquorice
This boy is scared all the time
Doesn't talk much, but speaks in a soft voice
Has disordered 'Sleeping' and Eating :)
His plague mask has tinted lenses to help ease the strain with how bright the surface is
I wont tell too much about them as a lot of their info is spoilers to other players. But this sad Drow just rocks up in my head on the regular.
---
Erebus (Anima Beyond Fantasy)
AKA- My first TTRPG character! circa 2011-2 I think???
Real name Sho Yoshimitsu
22 Years Old, He/Him
Duk'Zarist Nephilim
Assassin
Textbook 'strong silent and intimidating hot man'
But basically a big soft boy if you break past the mile thick ice
Tragic backstory™ , used to using his body for the job
He really enjoys cooking!
Also hopelessly in love with a small soft summoner, Caelum (the one hugging him), They're RedxBlue gays
---
I think I'll leave it there for now!
I may add more later, I hope it was interesting?? and I'm still pretty shy with yelling this much about my characters haha.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far! 💜

QUOTE: “The stars align for me.”
BIO: Professional triple threat (and amateur astrologist) Tara Rajneesh rules the Performing Arts scene at Shadow High and shines not just like a star, but like a whole constellation on stage. Though her creativity is unbounded and her performing choices are always bold, she can barely do anything in her day-to-day life without first consulting her horoscope. She loves to be the centre of attention, and thanks to her standout energy and eccentric personality it just kind of happens naturally. A thespian at heart, Tara has no interest in film acting, and prefers the inherent transitive quality that only the stage can offer. As for which roles she likes best, lead roles are great, and villains are even better! She’s starred in plenty of productions back in her home city of Chicago, but her dream is to play the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute at the Met.
OTHER:
-Tara’s one of those girls who has a different boyfriend every month because of some drama or another, to the great interest of Candy.
-Her parents are both from Hyderabad, India, but she was born in Chicago.
-Her age is seventeen and her sign is Sagittarius.
-She stands taller than most of her female classmates at 5’8” (without heels).
-She’s bilingual, and speaks Hindi with her parents. Although their English is already pretty good, they insisted on teaching her Hindi to preserve their culture.
-Her clothes are relatively simple, usually stretchy and form-fitting due to her practically living on stage and needing to move for blocking. This doesn’t stop Tara from accessorizing as much as possible with sparkling, glittering, star-studded bangles, necks, and hair pins.
-She gets along with Dia Mante and Glitch Crowne, bonding over music and the stage.
-Much to her classmates’ annoyance, she’ll sometimes read them their horoscopes unprompted and/or dragoon them into a tarot-reading session.
-To de-stress, she likes to go stargazing. She’s even got a telescope.
-Though she definitely gives off diva vibes, it’s mostly because she’s usually in her own head and feels every emotion at 200% at all times. By no means is she rude, snobby, or even intentionally selfish, in fact she runs a student support group on the side for classmates to gather and vent about school-related stress.
-She likes modern musicals well enough, especially dramatic ones, but her first love is opera.
-She sings coloratura soprano and is a seasoned actor, but struggled a bit with dancing.
-Despite the flack other Shadow High kids give her for it, Tara follows RH exchange student Meena Fleur on social and even trades school gossip with her. (Thanks again @sunshine7eyes)

in talking about ffxvi you made the point that clive is a good DRK, from the standpoint of the emotional thing that that class's narrative does. this makes me curious, what's your take on What A Gunbreaker Is For, in an emotional narrative sense? i have my own thoughts but i'm not as good at organizing them, i feel like the major GNB characters we meet (squall, seifer, the bozjan queensguard) are serving in different kinds of bodyguard/knight roles but specifically invested in conceptualizing themselves as bodyguard/knight. it's like embodying a very specific masculinity (gender-neutral)
I haven't played gunbreaker or ff8 so you'll forgive me if I have very little idea of what the defining qualities of the class are beyond ffxiv's NPCS though this has made me interested. Gunbreaker as a bodyguard == finding their sense of self and duty in service to another person definitely tracks with Thancred and the Queensguard. I can talk to you about dragoon, paladin, dark knight and summoner more readily at least.... but it's hard to talk about any tanks without the originals? A lot of classic final fantasy jobs are story relevant in one iteration and just a weapon you hold in the next.
Dark Knight vs Paladin is a peculiar one to me because the first time you see either of them it's DRK that is a military force and PLD that is an independent self acceptance renegade with Cecil Harvey, but that positioning flips back and forth throughout the series. Less that holiness is good and darkness is bad and more that Paladins are (at least trying to be) noble protectors of people at large, chivalrous, willing to take blows for their friends or their cause. Can become a very negative set of traits with characters whose cause is unjust -- Beatrix or the Heavens Ward come to mind.
Dark Knight's defining traits are like... exchanging self preservation for power, turning the worst parts of yourself into strength, almost like spiritually impure outcast class even when they're backed by an official body in the setting? Like Clive is definitely a dark knight because he can't access any of his strength until he's ready to accept that the worst parts of him are still part of him (Cloud Strife is also like this!!!) but you also come up against a squadron of like Sanbrequois Imperial Dark Knights With A Capital D who are sectioned off and despised even within their own organisation because they do the things too horrible for the rest of them.
An aside but I think Clive is quietly dual classing because as I get through the crafting unlocks late in the game when he's turned into someone who's protecting his entire community and pushed forward by love of those people it's all classic Paladin arms. Dark Knight Paladin Summoner Blue Mage McSpecial Boy.
But anyway most of my thoughts on Gunbreaker is that assigning yourself bodyguard can easily turn into kind of a tragic codependent dynamic and Thancred in Shadowbringers is almost entirely about that. It's a lot more personal than Paladin -- this isn't someone motivated by what they think is the greater good but the good of their charge -- yet less self absorbed than Dark Knights burning themselves up for power? Shadowbringers Thancred is dependent on his loved ones to even function as a GNB because fun fact if you can't bring Ryne or Urianger into Trusts with him he won't have any of his kit that requires their magic to use. .. I suppose Gunbreaker at least in FF14 is about partnerships and a subjective personal sense of duty.
Also you're right about the masculinity thing lmao I don't feel butch enough unless I'm supportive and helpful to the people around me and I'm sure that's true of a lot of people. It's emotionally rewarding to be a pillar to lean on but you risk suffering in silence if you can't get out of that self-prescribed role when you need to.
#asks#if this is completely gibberish i'm sorry lmao writing all in one go stream of consciousness#dante plays catboy simulator#final fantasy sex and violence

Seraph Headcanons pt. 1 of ???
Headcanon time? Headcanon time.
I do have to say, build wise? Seraph is not like the typical depiction of an elf. Where they're depicted as lithe, tall, with very few scars, Seraph has the height, perhaps taller than the average elf, but his body is covered in scars from his recent battles and those he's had during his training as a watcher. The most prominent and visible scar would be over his left eye, which continues below it, though thankfully, it healed and didn't cost him an eye in the process. He's very much muscular. Though he's still quite young for an elf, only 256 years old.
Prior to his training, and the awakening of his draconic blood, Seraph stood at 6'5 (195.58 cm) and was quite lean. Though his training as a cleric, despite what he learned from his mentor, Lady Ouros, he still had no real combat experience outside of his magic. Nowadays, his magic is more built to support combat, with his healing spells taking sort of a backseat. Though, as a champion, he gets by just fine with Lay on Hands as a spell. After the awakening of his draconic blood, he's shot up to his brother Makoto's height of 6'9 (205.74 cm).
Physical build wise? Seraph looks like this.
Actual combat build wise? Seraph is full on DPS, with a bit of support spells from his cleric background. That being said, he's much better at combat now than he was at the start of the campaign. His spell list has become reflective of this. Though, with his training as a dragoon, his fighting style with a spear has become much more focused on agility, and he has the ability to leap 40 feet into the air, and has a spell known as propulsive breeze to help augment his in-air agility. His heritage from Winter gives him spells primarily geared towards water and ice, though before that, he was aligned more towards lightning, and still learns lightning based spells.
Seraph is still rather new to the world, spending almost his entire life in a cloister, and as I've talked about with @allthatisleftinthedark, he's still learning about things. Though Soar has also pointed out that Seraph often likes having a guiding force, because he doesn't quite know what he wants to be right now. So he focuses on helping his party and his duties as the new Champion of Winter. Prior to the adventure, Seraph was known to be incredibly quiet, and for the first year or two at staying in his cloister, was completely mute, using sign language to speak or writing down what he had to say.
He struggles with being alone, even though he was often found by himself while at the Cloister he was raised in, he was always nearby other people, or they knew where to find him outside of classes and the library. This doesn't change much, and while he was in the Deathwatchers, he became used to his fellow watchers being able to contact him mentally, and held conversations with them, though, he's also had his issues with them getting into arguments within his head, and had to learn how to shut them out as well. Adding his father and eventually his brother Makoto, Seraph doesn't know how to really deal with being alone. He often has his familiar, Freya to keep him company as well. Unfortunately, he also has the Chaos god of blood, Khorne in his mind as well.
It's clear that Seraph struggles with his nature as a warrior, and enjoying combat, going from someone who was trained primarily to support others, to being the one on the front lines and throwing himself in danger to protect people, he likes the power that his training has given him. Despite his draconic blood, and his nature as a demi-spirit, Seraph's body is the result of hard training, perhaps too much for most mortals. Not to mention, emotional wise, Seraph went from having mostly muted emotions, and being unable to understand his feelings at times, to awakening to his emotions and emoting much more than he did at the start of his journey.
Despite his belief and his devotion to Pharasma, nowadays, Seraph isn't afraid to question why things have to remain the same...That being said, his sense of justice is strong enough that even if he's no longer a watcher, Seraph will absolutely never abide people raising the dead from their slumber. Not to mention, he has a strong sense of justice, making him even more susceptible to Khorne's influence. That being said, he's also the type to hold a grudge, most obvious in his feelings towards his world's Severia. He'll be cordial and polite, but he won't go out of his way to befriend her should they meet again.
#headcanon tag.#why'd i put this out?#who knows#i really wanted to talk about seraph#so here i am#i was just gonna talk about his body at first but here we are lol#can you tell how much i love my boy

The Silver Souls (meet my beans)
Okay Pinned post time! You’re not here for me, so let’s just get to my beans. (There’s a few, so bear with me. Pictures for your perception lol) The Silver Souls A group formed by Alexandria and Sorn’daer shortly after the events of Carteneau. Consisting of gathered allies, both echo blessed and not, the Silver Souls are an adventuring and mercenary group with skills ranging from domestic, monster hunting, knowledge gathering and crafting. The Silver Souls eventually met up with the likes of The Scions of the Silver Dawn, forming a powerful allegiance of primal hunting mercenaries, intelligent Archons of renown, and diplomats. The combined force of fighters, thinkers, and support brought together nations, brought low powerful foes of old, and ended the Final Days before their “dissolution” and “retirement”. Many of the members found themselves in romantic relationships and are still occasionally found together.
Rornir Augurelt
Rornir is the current head and face of the Silver Souls. He is an echo blessed Warrior of Light whose echo allows him to sense or feel, as well as manipulate, emotions. Hailing from the wilds Yanxia and the bank of the One River, Rornir Augurelt was born ‘Habiki Katsumoto’. He was a prophecised heir to a world renowned criminal syndicate which operated heavily in Othard and Kugane. His parents sold him to a woman in Dalmasca as an attempt to free him of the burden and zealotry of his clan. His name, Habiki, means echo. He was thought to be a prophecy which would see his clan rise in power. After his parents sold him, his jealous uncle had them killed and hunted ‘Habiki’ down. By the time his uncle found him, Rornir had chosen his own name and fled a far worse ‘home’ than that of his birth. He joined his family’s organization, become one of the most skilled assassins and earned many nicknames including ‘Yanxian Yurei” “Othard Oni” and “Kugane Obake”. He discovered the truth of his parent’s death and turned from his clan and fleeing to the steppes. There he met a small but fierce Au ri dragoon named Mizuki. The two became fast friends and travelled to Gridania together, where they would eventually join the Silver Souls. Rornir was hesitant to join the Scions, being a viera in such a strange land where strangers were treated unwarmly. He was welcomed, however, with open arms and revered for his unique perspectives. He was thankful for the allies and support during the siege of Doma, where he reclaimed his birth place and returned home. During the events of the First, he fell in love with the resident book keeper, astrologian, and archon Urianger Augurelt. The two remain happily married and enjoy their small space ship moon of small bunny children.
Alexandria Knighte
A founding member of the Silver Souls, Alexandria is an echo blessed warrior. Though her circumstances are far more unique than her allies. Alex is a Warrior of Darkness. Created through a struggled life. Her echo allows her to see, touch and speak with the dead and the Aetherial Sea. She is also the sundered soul of the Ancient, Azem. Alex was born in Kholusia on the reflection simple named, The First. She had a younger brother and sister, her mother was a prominent archeologist and historian and her father was a master alchemist. The family lived on a large farm and apple orchard. Her mother was also known as a witch, an intimidating and fierce but kind woman. Alex and her family were well respected and adored. Until the flood of light swept across the land. She was the lone survivor of her family, at the young age of 9. She was saved by a young boy and grew up in and out of homes until one day the sky caught fire and a voice filled her mind. She grew up as a hardened mercenary and lived most of her life alone. After a difficult mission, she sought out aid from another loner and weird man. She lost one of her legs to a blighted attack. Her leg was removed to prevent spreading. She thought her adventuring career was ended, until her mission companion revealed he was a master smith and had an artificial arm. He worked with her to build her a leg and the two soon fell in love. To her surprise they also had a child. But that didn’t last long. On her child’s 9th birthday, a wave of sineaters atacked. Her child was struck down, her husband died protecting her child and she was once again alone. She cursed ‘benevolent’ being who granted her life, again and again while always taking things from her. In her sorrow, she threw her self from the highest cliffs of Kholusia. She found her self floating in the aetherial sea, the voices of her loved ones calling for her. But Hydaelyn had need of her still, and Alex woke up on a ship in a strange new land. She met Sorn’daer, the elezen who rescued her. Sorn’daer is now her brother in law, married to a shard of her sister, who is also echo blessed but not an adventurer. She is in a romantic relationship with Thancred Waters, who is the soulmate sundered shard of Azem and Darion, and a shard of her husband from the first.
Sorn’daer Vic’Szraen
Archon and Professor, Sorn’daer Vic’szraen is a well known and renowned Mage. A Warrior of Light later in his years, Sorn’daer is a master of Aether, Void and Forbidden Magics including his specialty, Mhach. He has the ability to perceive glimpses of thought and memory. Sorn’daer grew up deep underground in and around ruins of Gelmorra. His family was less than enthusiastic about his birth and treated him with disdain. The only family he really had was his sister, Ril’Ria and his aunt. His aunt was a well know children’s author and a large inspiration for his academic studies into mythology and magic. After helping him and his sister escape, Sorn’daer’s aunt was killed for treason. Sorn and his sister fled their home with no destination in mind and found themselves, after years of traveling, on the home island of Sharlayan. He applied himself with fierce dedication and became a highly praised student and eventually earning himself title of archon and teaching at the Sharlayan Studium. He was even offered a seat on the forum, which he turned down due to their increasingly stringent rules and restrictions. He stuck to his own studies and formed a group of like minded scholars, including some from Sharlayan, to study the depths of Mhachi, Void, and Dark Magic. When his studies were deemed “restricted” and “forbidden” he left Sharlayan, saying “Magic is not inherently evil, but its will is determined by those who weild it. to give fear to it, you give power to those who would wield it for evil while denying its knowledge to counter it.” He left and set sail for faraway seas. On his journey, a dangerous storm took his ship and a woman was found overboard. He helped rescue the woman, named Alexandria, who claimed to be not from this world. He was intrigued by her claims and aided her in settling into her new world. They found each other working similar jobs more than a few times and agreed to work together, becoming close friends and eventually forming a mercenary group. He has since published several books on his studies and applications of aether. He has trained and obtained any ‘jobstone’ associated with “mage” and stranger applications of aether, such as a Machinist’s Aetherbox, a gunbreaker’s aether charges, and pacts with a voidsent as a Reaper. He trades many notes with the Alchemists of Radz-at-Han and the scion Y’sthola. He is married and a father of one.
B’astille ‘Bastian’ Tia
Bastian, as he prefers, is a mostly solitary man, and the most reclusive of the Silver Souls. An echo blessed Warrior of Light, Bastian’s talents and skills lie in his exceptional senses. More than just an adept hunter, Bastian uses his echo to hear, smell, track and hunt the most elusive of foes. B’astille hailed from a wandering B tribe of miqo’te throughout the Ala Mhigan and Gridanian border. His father was a disgusting man who rule by fear and other nefarious means. He forbid reading, kept his clan on mind numbing drugs until they developed a dependency and resorted to unseemly means when it came to breeding. B’astille was being taught to take his father’s place, but even in his training he sense the jealousy of his father, that someone else might take the place of everything he’d built. But Bastian didn’t want any of that. He befriended a young girl who had been determined too sickly and weak to remain in the clan. They became best friends and he often snuck out to give her food and talk to her. Bastian refused to kill or mate when he father told him. After a tense argument regarding Bastian’s virginity, he fled his home and never looked back. He and his childhood friend fled and developed a romantic relationship. But sickness and her frailty robbed them of a future together. Bastian lived on his own for over a decade, his only friend being a chocobo he’d rescued in his youth who had returned the favour some years later. Lady Heluva was his best friend. He was pretty feral and wildling, fearing most other ‘civilized’ societies were like his own. He preferred the company of animals, especially birds. Then the sky caught fire, a voice spoke to him, and he watched the red moon, Dalamud, crash into the grounds. A surge of mercenaries and Garleans caused him to seek saftey in other woods, leading him back to Gridania where he was captured. He was accused of being a spy, but once he confused to not being able to read, let alone his very wildling attire, he was released. He was so unaccustomed with civilized life, the city was confusing and he ended up in prison by accident. a mysterious masked man and a rather energetic au ri woman rescued him and offered him a place within their group, the Silver Souls. He was hailed for his skills in hunting, hand crafting, survival and mapping. He is well loved, despite being very reclusive, and he is thankful for his many friends who help him learn to read and adapt to civilized life, especially the newest scion and one of his first real friends, G’raha Tia. They are happily in a relationship. the first words he ever wrote, with G’raha’s help was his own name and “I love G’raha.” He still prefers the wilds and birds over people, and is learning more about his culture and people as a miqo’te.
R’aurora Vanih
The youngest of the Silver Souls, staring her journey at only 16 years old, R’aurora is arguably the most intelligent Warrior of Lights in the group. Her echo blessing allows her to process information not unlike a machine and she has eidetic memory, meaning she remembers things in extreme clarity. She is an autistic savant, struggling with normal everyday things, but her mind rivals that of the ancient Allagans. R’Aurora Vanih was born in Corvos, during another of the island’s exoduses by the Garleans. She never met her mother, as her mother died in premature childbirth. Her father tried his best to teach her as much about her mother as he could. Her mother had come from a clan of miqo’te who protected ancient Allagan ruins and information, blood running in the veins of the family. Her birth was met with mixed feelings as she had one bright red eye. None knew what to make of it, nor did any have the time to ponder such musings, given the Garlean situation at the time of her birth. she was separated from her father at only the age of 5. During a panic and rushing of crowd, her father lost hold of her and she was ushered on a ship leaving for Sharlayan. She arrived, alone, and when none claimed her, she was sent to the orphanage. When she was caught creating a machine from scrapes and disassembled things, she was tested and immediately had families interested in funding her education, that she might be a boon for Sharlayan, even at such a young age. Her autistic mind led to her teacher’s frustrations and none had the patience to help her. She was discarded, with disappointment, after she had argued another student’s thesis work on Allagan culture. After being told that “Archon G’raha Tia” was a foremost in his field and she’d given sufficient evidence to the contrary, she was shipped off to Limsa Lominsa. A young miqo’te found her crying alone at the end of the docks and brought her to his own adoptive Lalafellian parents and she was immediately taken home. She grew up in Ul’dah with loving Lalafel parents and an incredibly loving and patient miqo’te older brother. her genius was appreciated in ul’dah, as her mind was a power processor for numbers and memory. Her mother, a terrifyingly sweet and scary member of the Ul’dah syndicate was very protective of anyone who tried to use R’Aurora’s mind. When R’aurora complained one day of a terrible headache, the sky on fire, and voices in her head, many in Ul’dah suggested she be sent to an institution. But Sera, her older brother, sought others and found aid in the Silver Souls. One of its founding members, Alexandria, took a very motherly protective approach with R’aurora, stating that she reminded her of her own daughter. R’aurora is skilled with many talents, but because of her age many in the Silver Souls and the Scions prefered to keep her in a support and information role, but she has helped delevoped new technology for the group and submited patents for many new machines and allagan updates. She currently works in the Garlond Ironworks, the Students of Baldesion, the Ishgardian Skysteel Manufactury and runs a lo-fi radio station which reaches out to Garlemald now.
Sesera Sera
A strange name for a miqo’te, but Sera has made his family proud. One of the members of the Silver Souls who is not echo blessed or a Warrior of Light, Sesera is often considered the “Group Mom”. His skills like more in the domestic and diplomatic. From cooking, cleaning, getting everyone to bed on time and securing new work or working with prominent figures on behalf of the Silver Souls, Sera ensures success of his group behind the scenes. Abandoned mere days after his birth and found in a back alley of Ul’dah near death, Sesera Sera never knew his birth parents. He currently has no interest in knowing either, his true family are the lalafells who adopted him. His father a previous reigning champion of the Blood Sands and his mother a promiment and terrifying figure on the Ul’dahn syndicate. His father is a stern and hardened man, but a patient and kind soul. Sera learned a lot from him and highly respects his father. His mother, despite her status in Ul’dahn society, is a kind and gentle soul towards her family. The two were unable to conceive of the own and consider Sera a gift from the Trader, Nald’thal, himself. They lived a relatively simple life, with hardly any notable mentions outside of Sera’s status in the Blood Sands. Sera’s father was happy to step down from Champion when Sera beat him in combat. It was a proud day for both of them. Sera met his sister, R’aurora during a family trip to Limsa Lominsa, where his mother had unofficial business to tend to. He found a young, scared and crying miqo’te girl crying on the dock, and watched with growing anger as people just walked past her or gossiped as they moved around her. He carefully approached the young girl and offered her water, food, or something to wash her face at least. She turned them all down. He bought a wind up toy from a nearby vendor and handed it to her. He watched as, like a switch, the crying girl stopped and analyzed the toy like one of the maniacs at the Goldsmith’s guild in Ul’dah. She smiled at him and he knew he wanted to her big brother. So he found his parents, the immediately agreed and the family returned home. They continued their simple, quiet life in Ul’dah until his adopted sister, R’aurora, complained of a headache, firey skies and voices in her head. While others in the city were quick to judge and suggest institutionalising her, Sera asked his mother for some of her contacts and eventually got in contact with members of the Silver Souls who explained R’aurora was a Warrior of Light. He’s never known peace sense. He struggles keeping up with the group, not being a powerful hero of legend, but they are always in awe of him, standing toe to toe with them, *without* any blessing. He is currently in a relationship with the leader of Ishgard, Aymeric de Borel and with the Scions’ foremost mage, Y’sthola.
Mizuki Mizunoko
Mizuki is what many would call a “gremlin”. An energetic, enthusiastic, and a bit wild member of the Silver Souls, Mizuki Mizunoko is an Au ri warrior from a mostly unknown tribe high up in the Azim Steppes. While she is neither echo blessed or a Warrior of Light, her fighting prowess is enough to even give dragons pause. Mizu was born in a clan of au ri with a special allegience. Born of a clan chieftan, 7 mothers, and well over 8 or 9 bothers, she was the only girl. She was far from a princess though, always quick to join a playful fight, go hunting with her father, and even sneaking out to play with the dragonlings allied with her clan. Her clan has a long and historic pact with dragon, dating all the way back to the myth of Shiva and Hraesvelgr. They have carried on a long storied relationship with dragons. In what Ishgard would call heresy, an Auri warrior and a dragon form a blood pact, in exchange for strength, power, resistence, and a longer life. Mizu, and her dragon bond, Miyu, can see through each other’s eyes, communicate telepathically and have the ability to shape shift. Mizu can look more elezen and Miyu can turn into a chocobo. The pair are deadly in combat, though Miyu tends to be fairly lazy. Mizu featured prominently during the events of the Dragon Song War. She was very careful with Miyu in and around Ishgard. She and the dragoon, Estinien Wyrmblood had a very rocky start, but have since become good friends. Her expertise in dragonkind, and especially the story of Shiva and Hraesvelgr, aided the ending of the war as she and Miyu proved man and dragon could still be allies. When the scions and the Echo blessed of the Silver Souls were taken, it was Mizu and Sera who held the fronts at home. Other than her pact with her dragon, a gift in itself, she boasts no extra ordinary powers or skills and is still in the top of the fighters between the Silver Souls and the Scions. She is steadily learning to settle down, finding herself in a relationship with the Dark Knight of Ishgard, Sidurgu Orl and their shared ward, Rielle.
Saoirse Toussaint
Archon and Theologist, Saoirse Toussaint is Sharlayan born and raised. She is neither echo blessed nor a warrior of light. She is a student of theology, mythology and studies the stars and deities. She featured most promimently during the events of Ishagrd. She set forth from Sharlayan on her thesis work on the study of regional astrology and its applications. She had many quarrels with the uses in Ishgard being only for combat and dragons. She departed shortly after the end of the war, not one for glorified pomp or celebrations. She returned briefly to the Silver Souls employ during the seige of Doma, gaining more insight from the Geomancer of Othard, the Eastern equivalent of Astrology. Upon freeing both Doma and Ala Mhigo, Saoirse returned to Sharlay to complete her thesis and earn her Archon’s mark. Throughout her journey, she and the Ishgardian Dragoon had many close encounters and near connections, each time one or the other was busy or arguing. When the Silver Souls were torn from their bodies, Saoirse returned to offer her friends aid and apply her considerable skills as a healer and her knowledge of stars and constellations that might aid in any attempt to travel between worlds or conjure some means of finding them. She worked closely with Krile, Tataru and Master Matoya to keep the Silver Souls and Scions’ aether in check and heal any wounds from the front. She joined the scions more officially around the same time as Estinien and the two are still fledglings in their earnest relationship.

The End is Nigh: Chapter 1
the Mango tree swayed with a gentle breeze, as if gently fanning the young blue haired boy lying underneath it, his open hairs sprawled across the grass. Dressed in a simple white polo tee and dark blue jeans, Tyson Granger laid underneath the mango tree with closed eyes, thinking about who knew what, his dark blue hairs sprawled across the grass, not have grown longer. It was all until his reverie was broken by the footsteps, when he turned his head and peeked one eye open to see Kai- wait, KAI?
He sat up with such speed, that he nearly cracked his neck but thankfully didn't, and his hairs fell down like cascade of waterfall, reaching his waist length. "Hey Kai!" He chimed. It had been two years since the fall of BEGA. After the Battle with Brooklyn, he had nearly collapsed when Kai had held him- just like he did when Kai collapsed after his Battle with Brooklyn- and had taken the tanned Granger boy to Hospital, looking out for the young Dragoon wielder and filling up papers until his Team and Elders arrived. It was Tyson who had persuaded him to make amends with his Father, and Kai finally relented after being pestered for two months.
These two years changed everything between Kai and Tyson. Three months after the fall of BEGA, Kai had surprisingly turned up at Tyson's doorstep. It was because Misaki had to go out for a month, and Kai was hesitant to stay at his Father's, thus he found himself at Dojo's entrance. To say that the said month wasn't eventful would be a blatant lie. While Daichi and Tyson's constant arguments and banters riled him up the wall always, a cup of black coffee without sugar always appeared in front of him, Grandpa Granger smiling gently at the dual haired boy. Their combined training strengthened the bond they had, which tightened more whenever Max and Ray joined them.
And Kai will always believe in one thing, that the only Rival he wants to beat is Tyson, and he won't accept being beaten by anyone who isn't Tyson.
"Hey Tyson, how you doing?" He asked flopping beside the boy, who had pulled his hairs up in a ponytail. "I'm doing fine. You say! How come you are here today?" Tyson asked.
"I'm... I'm here to ask you about your plans for Tournament." He asked looking away, making Tyson's grin fall. "I haven't really thought about it..." Tyson looked away, feeling still a little off. As much as he tried to be cool about it, his friends leaving him two years ago was something which left a emotional scar. "I don't know if I will Battle or not, these will be Best of Three Tournaments.. And I really don't have a team. I don't know if you, Max and Ray will join me or not.." He said silently, not looking at Kai making Kai's back tense.
Kai knew he had hurt Tyson more than Ray and Max did after leaving him to have a chance against him, and did that again by joining BEGA. He didn't knew what to make of it. He never knew why Tyson easily accepted him back- as if he KNEW Kai will return to them. His thoughts were jumbled when he saw Dranzer beside Tala's pillow in Hospital, but he was more than overwhelmed. When he returned and all the teams were against him joining, it was Ray, Max, Tyson, Kenny, Hilary and even Daichi who supported him. Except, Ray tore him in a new one all while fussing around him and his wounds, with Daichi egging him up, Hilary giving him a disapproving side eye, and Max and Tyson knew better to stay shut up, but they were relieved when he came back.
"I... Why did you accepted me back?" He asked quietly, and sighed when Tyson didn't get what he meant. "After whole BEGA fiasco and me leaving you all and joining BEGA, why did you accepted me?" He asked and Tyson sighed softly, putting a hand at his shoulder. "My Grandpa used to say, 'Those who leave return, no matter where they are.' He strongly believed you will return, and asked us to prepare hard for battle. Also, you are a Friend. This happens in Friendship." Tyson said, giving a big Tyson-like grin to Kai who looked struck.
He didn't knew whether to punch Tyson for nearly hugging him or thank him for his words and believing him.
"So... you didn't ask them?" Kai said after swallowing thickly. Tyson blinked before his eyes widened with a grin. "Wait- I will just call them!" Tyson said and bounded inside his house, soon returning with his phone and texting furiously. "Max, Kenny and Hil are coming here." Tyson said Kai groaned internally. "Hilary will go apeshit with training regime. I still remember how disastrous her first regime was." He groaned, flopping on his back and making Tyson laugh. "What about B-Boys? Are they joining tournament?" Tyson asked flopping down beside Kai, mirroring his stance by putting his hands behind his head and crossing one leg over other, making his foot hit Kai's foot which was facing his foot.
"Yeah," Kai said in a dry tone, hitting Tyson back. "Oh that will be so cool! How is he, Sergei and Bryan? Especially after BEGA ordeal?" Tyson asked, hitting him back playfully which led Kai to hit him back as playfully. "They are doing fine. Ian told me about how surprisingly one day Garland had turned at their doorstep with others and apologised. Though it ended quiet disastrously with Bryan losing his shit, Tala, Bryan and Sergei took good amount of revenge." Kai said and after a thought, added. "Don't ask me what they did. Bryan is hot headed and Tala's a little shit." He said and Tyson burst into a laugh.
"That sounds hilarious, I will ask them." Tyson laughed as they hit each other's foot back and forth playfully. And that's how when Max arrived with a cheery grin, his grin faltered into a confused smile as he saw Tyson and Kai having a full blown foot-fight.

my favorite part of ffxiv is where Estinien makes fun of Ysayle for having an emotional support dragon and then goes on to be the emotional support dragoon.
