Halfway through David Copperfield... Emily ran away with Steerforth... And you know what i want a retelling of this whole book from HER point of view

#steerforth is a narcissistic good for nothing but listen. LISTEN #the whole situation with emily is so?????? like ok cousing marrying wasn't all that big of a deal back in that day and society #i get it. and family relationships were structured different. i Get It #but emily was going to marry *checks notes* her actual cousin turned foster brother because her uncle adopted both her #and her cousin when they became orphans and he's also 1) older than her 2) has a lesser alphabetization level than her 3) they don't share #ambitions but she's expected to marry the guy because he's always been good to her and everyone INCLUDING THEIR UNCLE/FOSTER FATHER thinks #this is a good idea. HEAR ME OUT!!! DO YOU HEAR YOURSELVES??#of COURSE she ran away with the first well positioned guy that presented her an alternative. too bad it was STEERFORTH #like IMAGINE what it would have been like if David was the one. but ultimately david is compensated because wven if he meddles with the #lower classes he respects the class system. contrary to steerforth who violates the social boundaries but actually doesn't conceive #the humble people as equals on a purely humanistic level (wich david DOES) and always looks at them with condescendence and basically uses #emily as a toy #MISTER DICKENS I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ANSWER ME #laura reads #(sidenote but if you got the chance richard armitage's narration of the book is excellent and he also has a very pleasing voice)
