Who’s the first to wake up in the morning: Dawn is usually awake two to three hours before Embree. They go to bed at the same time, but Embree falls asleep first and wakes up second. Unless Embree has a nightmare. Embree can fall asleep again after a nightmare given sufficient cuddling and comfort from Dawn. Dawn will not fall asleep after a nightmare, no matter how much comfort is given.

Who’s the one to make breakfast: They both do! They don't exactly take turns because Dawn is awake first and he gets hungry. Dawn makes breakfast most often, but simple stuff, like toast, scrambled eggs, etc., because he's learning how to cook! Embree was enslaved worked in a kitchen when he was younger and cooks/bakes more complicated dishes for breakfast whenever he gets the chance because he likes introducing Dawn to new food. Both of them avoid pre-prepared/packaged food.

Who’s the one to serve the other breakfast in bed: Dawn will serve Embree breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, anything in bed. Sometimes he wakes Embree up too early because whatever new thing he's learning to cook is finished and he wants Embree to try it before it gets cold. Embree doesn't mind being woken up by delivery of food, even if that food is sometimes... questionable.

Who would suggest a quickie in the morning before work: Embree steals quickies whenever he can. Dawn is more likely to initiate morning sex as Embree is waking up. Once Dawn and Embree know where each others boundaries are, they're on each other like bunnies. Once they adopt Tor and Del, they tone it down a little/move into a bigger apartment.

Who suggests they both ditch work to lay around all day: Both of them work security and maintenance for their apartment building. Neither of them suggest this because most of the time they're working from home.

Who chooses the movies: Their neighbors recommend movies! Both Embree and Dawn haven't had the luxury of seeing movies. Embree remembers some from when he was a little kid, which he shares with Dawn, Tor, and Del. They mostly watch kids movies.

Who initiates kissing during the movie, thus distracting the other from the movie all together: Initially, Dawn is fascinated by movies/holo-films. (People tell stories, and act, for fun? For work??) As he adjusts to civilian life and being person, as they both adjust, Dawn mostly just admires how Embree physically reacts to what's happening on screen. (They do not watch horror movies.) When Embree eventually catches Dawn staring at him, that's when things devolve into smooches.

Who orders lunch: Embree at first until Dawn sees how uncomfortable it makes him. At that point Dawn takes over any time they need to make calls, order food, or similar activities. Embree assumed Dawn didn't know how to order food. Dawn knows, because he's watched plenty of people do it, he had just never had the option of doing it himself having no credits.

Who steals food from the other’s plate without asking: Dawn takes from Embree's plate! From early on in their relationship they've had an understanding that Dawn can eat whatever he wants and have as much as he wants. Embree sometimes orders extra/makes extra/puts extra on his plate just so Dawn can enjoy taking it.

Who curls up next to the other and falls asleep due to a full tummy: Dawn could eat constantly and not be full. Embree on the other hand, has a small stomach and trouble digesting certain foods. Anything hearty and/or carb heavy is going to make him want to curl up in Dawn's lap and take a nap. Something Dawn finds adorable and he would never pass up an excuse to cuddle.

Who distracts the other from trying to work at home: Dawn is hardwired to focus, but the longer he and Embree live together, the easier it becomes for Embree to distract him. It's not really an issue because they live in a quiet, safe area, so the need for "security" isn't high. Dawn likes being distracted by Embree. He doesn't enjoy getting stuck in old patterns of thought from the GAR. He overthinks/over-focuses and Embree helps him by being distracting and cute.

Who asks to go get ice cream like a five year old: Dawn. As soon as Embree treated him to an ice cream bar once, they have to keep the freezer stocked. Trips to ice cream vendors are frequent, but Dawn makes sure to try each flavor and combo at least once.

Who takes pictures of their partner eating ice cream: Embree takes pictures of Dawn every chance he gets, whether out having ice cream, out at dinner, or just lounging around in their apartment, and especially if Dawn is sleeping curled up with Tor and Del. It's Dawn who convinces Embree to join him in the pictures. Embree usually tries for "perfect" where Dawn is more "candid."

Who makes a sexual joke about the dripping ice cream on their partner’s face: Dawn is more likely to make a verbal joke. Depending on where they are, Embree is more likely to make a physical insinuation (and follow through).

Who cooks dinner: Embree! Dawn likes to, and is encouraged to help and learn. Dawn likes making noodles with stir fries because they aren't super complicated and he can put all kinds of different flavored sauces on them so even if the components are the same, the taste is different. Embree tries to make sure his family of clones' meals are nutrient and calorie dense, which is hard for him to eat. Dawn will make him soups that are easier on Embree's tummy.

Who cleans up the kitchen afterwards: Dawn refuses to let Embree do much physical labor even if Embree is capable of 1v1-ing a full grown clone. Dawn finds housework methodical, soothing, and he's a bit of a neat freak. Embree is a bit more chill about cleanliness, but he's prone to getting sick, so Dawn takes charge of cleaning.

Who stays up until 2 a.m. reading: Dawn would stay up all night reading if he didn't love cuddling Embree so much! Dawn will also read out loud to Embree, along with Tor and Del once they adopt them. Dawn loves stories. He's Coruscant bound and stories open the galaxy up to him.

Who stares at their partner while they're sleeping: They both stare at each other. Dawn's sleep habits allow him to stare more often than Embree.

Who kisses their partner while they sleep: On the rare occasion Embree is awake while Dawn is asleep, he will kiss Dawn. This usually wakes Dawn up, which leads into either a heart-to-heart about the nightmare Embree just woke up from, or sex.

Mr. Frank Embree, Fayette, Missouri, 1899.

On the morning of July 22, 1899, a white mob abducted Frank Embree from officers transporting him to stand trial and lynched him in front of a crowd of over 1,000 onlookers in Fayette, Missouri.

About one month earlier, Frank Embree had been arrested and accused of assaulting a white girl. Though his trial was scheduled for July 22, the town’s residents grew impatient and, rather than allow Mr. Embree to stand trial, took matters into their own hands by lynching Mr. Embree.

According to newspaper accounts, the mob attacked officers transporting Mr. Embree, seized him, loaded him into a wagon, and drove him to the site of the alleged assault. Once there, Mr. Embree’s captors immediately tried to extract a confession by stripping him naked and whipping him in front of the assembled crowd, but he steadfastly maintained his innocence despite this abuse. After withstanding more than 100 lashes to his body, Mr. Embree began screaming and told the men that he would confess. Rather than plead for his life, Mr. Embree begged his attackers to stop the torture and kill him swiftly. Covered in blood from the whipping, with no courtroom or legal system in sight, Mr. Embree offered a confession to the waiting lynch mob and was immediately hanged from a tree.

Black people accused of crimes during this era were regularly subjected to beatings, torture, and threats of lynching in efforts to obtain a confession, and the results of those coercive attacks were later used to "justify" the lynchings that followed. In fact, without fair investigation or trial, the confession of a lynching victim was more reliable evidence of fear than guilt.

Though published photographs of Mr. Embree’s lynching clearly depict the faces of many of his assailants, no one was ever arrested or tried for his death.

Lannik Embree

FC: Timothy Olyphant Age: 214 (looks 37) Height: 6'0" Sexuality: Heterosexual Species: Living Vampire Occupation: Bartender in a country-western bar

Born in 1810 on a plantation to a wealthy family, Mr. George Hampton and Mrs. Sarah Hampton. He had a decent childhood growing up, and never questioned whether or not his parents loved him. The servants enjoyed his company because he never caused problems and was always interested in what they were doing.

He was the same way with the slaves working the plantation. He was never judgmental of them, always wanted to talk to them, and was always interested in what they were doing. He was admonished for this several times by his parents.

As he got older, he became fascinated with cowboys and cowboy culture. He read whatever he could about them, and would strike up excited conversations with them when he would go into town with his parents or one of the servants.

He became especially fascinated by outlaws. Especially the ones who managed to do what they did without hurting people unless they had to.

In his early 20s, he decided the cowboy life was for him, and decided he was going to go out and be one, and try his hand at being an outlaw, though he didn't tell his family that part.

His parents pleaded with him not to go, that he had everything he needed right at home, and that there was no need to go out gallivanting around the countryside. His father wanted to cut him off if he went through with his 'dream', his mother pleaded with his father not to, just in case.

Lannik rode into town, and bought some new clothes, bought a couple of pistols, and set out on the life he'd now chosen for himself. Because of his training at home with a rifle and a handgun (his parents insisted 'just in case'), he was already fairly proficient. He robbed a few banks over the next few years, though never killing anyone without cause, he never killed unless he had to. He also collected bounties on occasion. Then, one day, in 1847, when he was 37 years old, the townspeople of a bank he tried to rob, retaliated. As he escaped, a posse went after him, catching up to him and shooting him several times. He fell from his horse, and the posse left him where he fell.

He lay there dying slowly, bleeding out, when he was happened upon by Tolaas. They talked for a bit, and Tolaas explained how he had been watching Lannik for a while now. He didn't know what possessed him to do such a thing, but Tolaas ended up siring Lannik to save his life. Maybe Tolaas saw a bit of himself in the dying man, or maybe he was just feeling incredibly generous. Either way, after turning Lannik, and finding him a donor, he did take him under his wing to teach him, as Tolaas had been responsible for him.

In 1861, America's civil war happened. Tolaas and Lannik both joined on the side of the North, the Union. After the war, both of them bloodied, bruised, and tired from the whole mess, went their separate ways.

Tolaas checked up on Lannik a few times, but otherwise he let him live his life.

Lannik never went back to his parents, instead, he took odd jobs, a couple of cattle drives, and worked as a ranch hand. He watched the progress of man, saw the world change, and he tried to change with it but had a difficult time. He was a cowboy, and that's all he would be.

Modern day, he works as a bartender in the country-western-themed Saddle Ranch Saloon.

He lives in a modest apartment, making a meager living. Tolaas had approached him a few times, asking if he needed money, and offering to help, but Lannik refused. He did, however, thank Tolaas for everything he did for him, and for sticking by him for so long. But he wanted to try to live hiss life by his own means now.

Lannik grew up with compassion and care, and learned it for others, regardless of his parents' personal or political leanings. He is still a kind individual, even if he is reckless. He tries not to break the law anymore, as the days of the outlaw are dead. But he still takes on a 'job' now and then which has him hunting down some nefarious individuals.

Lannik will sometimes lie about being a Living Vampire, because he finds it fun to mess with people.

He never really believed in relationships and 'true love', after watching his father cheat on his mother more than once, and his mother pretending nothing happened.

So, in that area, he'll date several people at once but refuses to make any sort of emotional relationship happen.

Hidden part of his past: Lannik had/has a half-sister he never talks about. (Or to, depending on what I want to do with that information.) This is for a good reason he will never talk about.
