I'm definitely going to disect the scene in Unraveled with Cassius

But at the moment thing are DEFINITELY going to go down in book 10

And I don't JUST mean Elysian and Stellerlune

Cause like... Keefe new Alvar was alive (and even though I loved Alvar's presence in this book) it's going to put more strain Keefe and Fitz's already separating friendship

Now I think both sides are valid here

Fitz will have every right to be upset at Keefe for that and he's probably going to yell

Especially when they had gotten so close

I don't blame Fitz for that

But on the other side

I don't blame Keefe for how he handled the Alvar situation

I don't agree with the people who said he forgave Alvar too easily

I don't think he necessarily forgave him at all for the stuff he did

I feel like I can understand Keefe in thus situation a bit because of my own brother

Now while my brother isn't a murderer or held people hostage or anything he's still done some pretty awful selfish stuff

He's in prison right now due to his own choices with drugs and stealing and lying

And while I do love my brother I don't forget about that stuff because he's also taken money and items from me my whole life

I love him but I don't necessarily forget about it

At the same time we can still get along and even joke and mess around

I'm equating this similar because Keefe thought of Alvar as a big brother

He looked up to him for a lot of his childhood before being betrayed

He also followed Alvar to make sure he wasn't going to do anything sketchy

Took him with him to London with him to keep an eye on him BECAUSE he didn't trust him

He was also super distant when Alvar tried to get him to do stuff

And definitely didn't let him off the hook for the kidnappings

But like I do with my brother he kind of... worked around it for the sake of getting along

Brought it up and reminded Alvar of the things he did and hiw they weren't justifiable

Also remember Keefe wasn't really where he should be mentally in Unraveled

He was separate from his friends and anyone to check him and tell him ideas were bad

Also super lonely and probably going stirr crazy trying to make progress in London

He hadn't really talked to people familiar in who knew how long

Even if it wasn't ideal (or necessarily smart) his brain probably latched onto something familiar

Something he USED to trust

Cause he was desperate

And soon that turned into a half baked alliance

Cause (while it wasn't on screen) him and Alvar had a thing going before the books

It's only natural that they'd go back to some of that after starting to trust each other more

Again I'm not taking away that Fitz VERY MUCH gas the right to be hurt and upset with Keefe and should confront him about it when it inevitably gets out

But I still understand why Keefe did what he did and can't necessarily blame him for it

And honestly... they need to scream it out they really do

It will be good for them

Alvar, Keefe running away, girl troubles, them falling out, not being like they used to

But that's ok

Because I feel like once they both get it out of their systems they can finally work to understanding each other

ᶻz — I read once in another post that he smells like lavender (with undertones of coffee, I imagine the smell lingers after her drinks so much, sticks to his clothes and breath n’ stuff) because of the diffuser by his bed that helps his insomnia and I hold that as absolute truth in my mind. I cannot be convinced otherwise.

ᶻz — With that said… he has insomnia. I think that's a generally agreed-upon thing, honestly, even if it hasn't been confirmed in canon. His sleep habits are abhorrent, and I can't help but picture them getting worse once he actually enters the pro-hero field of work.

ᶻz — Warm. Just in general, I believe he's warm. I’m not entirely sure why I think this, but I'd like to believe he naturally just radiates warmth despite his cold outward demeanor. That people will gravitate towards him on cold days because he's warm, and that cats like to curl up on him because he's warm (sort of how I picture Todoroki).

ᶻz — Views everyone as competition / distractions until he gets to know them. Especially if they share the same goals as him.

ᶻz — On that note. One-sided rivals to friends to lovers. Shinsou saw me as direct competition to him graduating into the hero course once I transfer to U.A. , and therefore a rival. Even though I never see him as a rival. But it’s alright, because we figure it out in the end lol.

ᶻz — Not big on touch until he’s known someone for a while, wether it be a platonic or romantic relationship. But I feel like once he’s comfortable with a certain person (at least in private) he wouldn’t hesitate to hug or cuddle n’ other things.

ᶻz — Really does secretly enjoy cuddling once we’ve been dating for a while, just thinks it comforting.

Everyone sit down. Everybody sit down right now, we need to talk Andrew Schrader, I have sad and wholesome headcanons to spill.

Major spoilers for the Professor Layton series. Also, heads up, long ass post LOL

Dr Schrader taught archaeology. Targent is big in the field of archaeology. Naturally, the organization would come up during one of Dr Schrader's lectures.

And when it did, even though Hershel's memories of his parents kidnapping are repressed, his brain will still subconsciously recognize the organization.

And when it does, Hershel immediately goes into panic mode. He's in the middle of class, having a panic attack, in extreme distress, and Dr Schrader notices. Of course, he isn't going to call Hershel out in front of the entire class, so he tells the class to go do this random busywork and then will walk around pretending to look over their shoulders like he's checking their work, and then he discreetly slips Hershel a note.

The note asks if Dr Schrader can do anything to help, says that he is always there to support Hershel, and if Hershel needs to take a break from class, or wants to talk after class, he can. But no pressure, do whatever makes him comfortable. Just know that he is always supported and cares for.

And a similar situation happens when the Mask of Chaos is brought up. Except this time Hershel knows why he's so distressed. This time, he whispers to Dr Schrader if they can talk after class, to which Dr Schrader is like "Yes, of course!"

And Hershel ends up breaking down in Dr Schraders office as he recounts what happened that night in those ruins. How he watched his best friend die. Dr Schrader offers him a hug, which Hershel gladly accepts and sobs in his professors arms.

And then after Hershel graduated, Claire died. Hershel was in deep shock, grief. Who called him first? The man that didn't even teach him anymore, but still cared deeply about his emotional well being: Dr Schrader.

AND THEN HERSHEL'S ASSAULT. When Bill Hawks had him be beat so badly he was in a coma for a month. Dr Schrader visited him every single day. Wrote him little letters every single day. Had presents waiting for him when he woke up. Helped him pick up his flat that Bill Hawks ransacked.

And that's why Hershel was always so close with him, called him by his first name, Andrew, got a letter from him about the Elysian Box. They never lost contact. Because Hershel never forgot the man who always went out of his way to look after one of his hundreds of students, who went out of his way to help Hershel even after he no longer taught him. Never forgot Andrew Schrader.

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that an Eden expy would be perfect for HSR.

Beauty... What is your definition of beauty? Did you have it? Did the old me have it?

TL;DR: Eden's a HI3rd character with themes/motifs around music, beauty, elegance, and so on. I think it would be cool to see an Eden expy in Honkai: Star Rail :)

Slightly longer TL;DR: Eden is a character whose story revolves around the meaning of beauty in an ugly world, a world in which terrible things happen to good people, in which the greatest and bravest heroes of humanity fail to save the day. In spite of this, even as the last cities of Earth crumbled to dust, Eden still held steadfast on her belief, and she had faith that even though her era is now fading away, the new era of humanity would "script their own fate and sing their own songs."

So I've seen a fair bit of discussion about expys on the HSR subreddit from time to time, and I figured I'd have a go at this with my own post discussing a pre-existing Hoyoverse character I'd like to see in HSR someday!

This post is mostly aimed at an HSR audience so I've written it in a way that should be understandable even without any prior knowledge of HI3rd, but fellow HI3rd peeps might enjoy it too :)

The thought of this came to me when I was playing HI3rd earlier, because when I was looking at Eden's signature weapon, I was thinking "wow, I forgot how beautiful that was" and then it hit me- one of Eden's core themes as a character is Beauty, making her a perfect candidate to be a future Pathstrider of the Path of Beauty! Whether part of the Knights of Beauty or part of a different faction or even walking this path on her own.

There's going to be some light spoilers for HI3rd's story, but nothing that spoils major story beats. Eden is a character from the Previous Era, meaning most of her story takes place in the form of archives and records of the past. This post is pretty much all backstory, and I won't discuss any important "secrets of the past" meaning any big plot twists should remain unspoiled.

So if you're ambivalent or unconcerned about HI3rd spoilers, I'd say it should be okay to proceed, but if you want to play it safe then you should probably return to this post later. All of this is lore from the Elysian Realm, so if you're already familiar with that then there won't be any spoilers at all :)

That being said, this post does contain some pretty heavy content. Nothing particularly graphic or violent, but there is discussion of death and trauma so please keep this in mind!

Some quick context, to start with:

HI3rd's story takes place on Earth, and in this setting there have been multiple "past eras". Over the course of a civilization's development, powerful apocalyptic beings called "Herrschers" appear and wreck havoc upon the world. When the final Herrscher, the Herrscher of Finality*, descends upon the Earth it removes all trace of the current existing civilization... or whatever remains of it. Over the course of 50,000 years a new civilization develops in its place until someday Finality returns once more and the samsara repeats.

Eden is a character belonging to the Previous Era (PE), which is the civilization immediately preceding the Current Era (CE), which is the present-day setting of HI3rd.

*disclaimer: this Finality is not related to the Path of Finality. It's a matter of translation, since the original text uses different characters.

Eden was living a pretty great life- she was a superstar and she was filthy rich, with global tours and widespread fame. In fact, several of the other major characters of the Previous Era (such as Kevin and Su) were fans of her music! Singing, playing instruments, she could do it all. Naturally, she was a fervent supporter of the arts.

Despite this, Eden was still living a "normal" life- a life in which she was blissfully unaware of the looming threat of Honkai. She became painfully aware of it when disaster struck during a concert of hers in Sydney (the PE version of it, of course). During this concert but elsewhere in the city, the 7th Herrscher awoke: the Herrscher of Fire. Almost immediately the entire city was engulfed in raging fires. According to some sources, even the entire continent of Australia was destroyed, but this may have been retconned so take it with a grain of salt.

Eden was (un)fortunate enough to survive this disaster, being saved by one of the former Fire MOTH soldiers that was under the leadership of the person that became the Herrscher of Fire. Though Eden survived and still retained her public image and wealth, there was no returning to her past life. She ended up learning about the organization Fire MOTH, humanity's leading force fighting against the threat of Honkai. While she kept her usual public image, she would also use her wealth to help support MOTH.

The past is no more, but I can still remember this moment. This is what I can do right now.

Over time Eden grew to become a more active member of MOTH, until someday even she would end becoming a soldier herself. She witnessed the toll of war as fewer and fewer soldiers returned from battle and as the survivors became increasingly worn and weary. Though many people knew of her music and appreciated it, as the war went on Eden realized even her music had its limits to how much it could help people. Because of this, Eden chose to volunteer for a program that would give her the strength to fight alongside the rest of MOTH.

One of MOTH's many programs to fight Honkai was the MANTIS project: augmenting humans with the DNA of Honkai Beasts, granting them tremendous power. If they survived the Meta-Morph surgery. Eden underwent this program and survived, placing her as part of an elite force with the strength to fight the Herrschers head-on.

Plus she got a sick pair of guns! so that's pretty neat ^.^

Unfortunately, we know how this story ends. We call it the Previous Era precisely because it ended. Even humanity's greatest heroes couldn't stop the crushing power of Finality.

Eden would not live to see the next era of humanity.

With this summarized backstory of Eden in mind, I'd like to share a few archive entries from HI3rd, featuring Eden. I was originally going to try and summarize and discuss these lore entries myself, but I think it'd be best to keep my thoughts to a minimum and provide the full text instead, so anyone reading this can think about it for themselves and come to their own conclusions instead of taking my word as law.

First, we have one of the records discussing the events of the awakening of the 7th Herrscher. Do note that I snipped out a portion of this archive to shorten it and reduce spoilers, so it's not the complete version found in-game.

Another part of Eden's backstory I want to mention is the way Eden interacted with another major member of Fire MOTH, Dr. Mobius.

Mobius is a pretty complicated character, because while she seems to be a straightforward "mad scientist" type of character, there's a lot of nuance to her behavior and attitude. It's difficult to sum it up, but in this case I'll focus on how other people perceive her: very negatively.

Dr. Mobius' work was groundbreaking for genetics and biology, and her projects (including the MANTIS project as well as early versions of Project Stigma) were crucial in fighting Honkai. However, she was incredibly intimidating and her experiments were... questionable, to say the least. Cold and calculating, not someone to inflict needless cruelty but also someone who doesn't let silly little things such as "ethics" get in the way of progress.

Interestingly, Eden is probably one of the few people that was capable of interacting with Dr. Mobius in a positive way. Many people found it difficult to work under the supervision of Dr. Mobius and most would go out of their way to avoid her, but it seems that Eden was not one of them. This scene in particular is a good example of this:

At this point I think Eden's theme of Beauty is quite evident, and I could probably cut the post short here. But there's one final part of Eden's story I'd like to share, and since it's a scene involving Mobius it builds on the previous entry quite neatly. Since I'm going to end the post with this scene, I'll give my final thoughts first!

I don't really think it's worth worrying too much about expys and whatnot, because ultimately the important thing is whether a given character fits the story, not whether they look like a past character. If we get a "HSR Kiana" or an "HSR Kiana", what matters is the way they fit into this setting. The setting of Aeons and Paths, of a diverse set of factions vying for power and influence across the universe, and how the Nameless will cross paths with this character.

But I wanted to make this post anyways because I feel like Eden's story is greatly underappreciated, and since it has such a neat connection with the Path of Beauty.

Eden's theme of "Beauty" is not just about Eden being a beautiful person, nor is about her beautiful music. To me, it's her understanding of humanity and the way that the arts allow us to connect with each other. It's her ability to reach out and connect with a person as cold and calculating as Mobius. It's just as Eden says, "something that makes people happy, guides the way, and sparks hope."

Just something to keep in mind when reading this final archive entry. I've also re-attached the same image from the start of the post, since I think it takes on a much more powerful meaning with this scene in mind.

chapter four; gyuvin's (un)successful rizz

as said, gyuvin does not know how to act around pretty men.

of course, he's talked to y/n before—and not just because he let him borrow his pencil in the middle of science class once, the two of them have mutual friends, junhyeon and gunwook, so of course they know of each other's existences.

but there's just something about y/n that turns gyuvin into the biggest idiot imaginable.

the first time they met, in freshmen year, gyuvin tripped and fell on his face right in front of him, embarrassing himself, and when y/n kneeled down to help him up, gyuvin froze, even though he was already on the floor.

for some reason, whenever y/n even steals the slightest glance at him, gyuvin's brain abandons any rational thought and it makes him become a brainless idiot.

there's just something about him, something about his smile, his laugh, his voice, just something which makes gyuvin's brain go completely blank.

and now he's being tutored by him!?

gyuvin is not going to survive.

and he currently isn't surviving at all.

y/n is simply doing what he's supposed to, tutoring him, but gyuvin feels like he's about to melt into a puddle every time he simply casts a glance at him.

"you see.." he mutters, even though gyuvin is completely distracted by everything else. "it's like newton's third law".

"for every action in nature theres an equal and opposite reaction" gyuvin presses his lips into a thin line, chuckling. did he really just say that? he doesn't even remember the last time words like that came to his mind.

y/n lights up, almost like he's excited. "see? you aren't even that bad, the way mr. lim was going on about it was like you were a lost cause but you don't even need like— serious tutoring, just a few more weeks and you should be fine".

gyuvin blinks, the words are so genuine that he has a hard time deciphering them in his head. he looks over at y/n, who has his head leaned on his chin, tapping his finger against the table.

"i—" gyuvin sighs, a small laugh leaving his lips. "yeah um.. people always like to say stuff like that about me and.."

he pauses mid-sentence, not knowing what else to say, he doesn't really like delving into this topic, because it's so serious and he doesn't enjoy talking about serious thinks like this.

"well, it's clear that theres more to you than what people say, your.. well— kim gyuvin, and i like you".

is y/n trying to make him go insane? because it's working.

gyuvin lets out the most awkward of laughs, he's literally about to fall out of his chair and collapse onto the floor. y/n gives a small hum as he clicks his pen, staring at the paper before him.

"goddamnit why is he so pretty..?"

"hm?"

"what?"

y/n blinks, biting his inner cheek as he lightly laughs. "did you say something?" he tilts his head, continuing to click his pen as he stares at gyuvin.

"oh! um.." gyuvin smiles awkwardly. "nothing, i didn't say anything".

"uh huh" y/n smiles, looking back to the paper in front of him. "thought i heard you say something".

gyuvin feels his face heat up, extremely embarrassed by the fact that he didn't think, but said those words.

unbeknownst to him, though, y/n heard them.

thinking once again about the elysian backstory i created and i need to expand this into a general fantasy verse because i simply need to write more in that verse. christine, a peasant's daughter, a magical prodigy. sent to study in a far-away kingdom where magic is more accepted, only for her entire class, the people she trusted and loved, become corrupted by dark magic in an attempt to make the world safer for magical creatures like them.

she returns home on the run. everyone thinks she was involved, that she is also responsible for the massacre they committed. she settles at a forest at the edge of the village she grew up in: it is a large forest, which borders two big kingdoms, serving as a natural barrier as most people who enter, don't survive. the wood is filled with magic, and it does not welcome strangers. but christine starts taking care of the woods, making contact with the scared magical creatures inside it. created a village inside and welcomes witches from the neighboring kingdoms who don't feel safe. she doesn't mean to create a quasi-kingdom inside the woods, but it is what happens. the woods become hers. the people start calling her lady christine, and soon the two kingdoms have to accept her presence, her claim to the woods. they broker a deal. she may not have an army, but when they try to send their scouts inside, they return with their clothes inside out, and some sort of weird new-talent.

Ahem. Anyways. It’s been like 6000 years since I’ve drawn either Clay OR Seph. Despite the fact that Seph is literally one of the easier OCs of mine to draw lmao. Nonetheless, happy valentines times day or whatever I guess (lol)— have the Rough and Tumble Cowboy Businessman and his Pastelcore Pastry Chef wife.

For anyone who doesn’t know me via Pisscord Discord/hasn’t read my attempt at a PLA AU (Even the Gods Cowered) which is basically Dad Clay and the Nimbasa Trio, Persephone “Seph” Spring is the younger twin sister of Naomi “Nomi” Spring and the two run a teahouse together with one other friend of theirs who is a menace to society— Lila Archibald— on the edges of Driftveil City.

In Even the Gods Cowered, however Seph has since passed away, leaving Clay with a house that’s a bit too big for one man, and a few pokemon who he since inherited from her. Don’t worry, she’s only dead in this AU. That I will finish one day. Maybe. Hopefully. (probably??)

The two sisters hail from Galar originally with one parent being from Galar and the other from Hoenn, having moved across to Unova when they were in their teen years— though Seph’s team is primarily Galarian and Hoenn in nature with her starter and ace being a massive Corviknight she named “Lancelot”. He does show up in Even the Gods Cowered.

Both Spring sisters have shown up briefly in my SW universe as well, where their roles are pretty much the same, save for the minor fact that their tea house doubles as Bounty Hunter Guild informant building and spa.

Clay and Seph’s ship name being “Elysian Shipping” “Elysian Duo” is a bit of a lore joke that stems from Greek and Roman mythos. Clay's moniker is the "Underground Boss" which I linked to Hades' roman counterpart, Pluto— who is also the god of riches found beneath the earth. riches → mining. And Pluto = Hades, and Hades’ wife is the goddess of spring, Persephone. The two rule the Greek underworld and Elysium is one of the realms in the Underworld.

So yeah. There’s that bit.

ARMS and CHANGE for Siavash?

arms: Does your OC have any weapons? What weapons do they carry, and how do they wear them when they're not fighting?

Let’s be clear, Siavash is no swordsman. His weapons of choice are the guitar and the radiant smile, with a little magical boost now and then. For when things go south he carries a longsword and a buckler. In game I had him using Blood Boiler – a little out of character for him – but I can imagine him as Knight Commander wielding a most impressive magical flaming sword for that Dazzling Display. Later on as he starts exploring his Kelish roots he trades his longsword for Liberation, an Elysian prismatic scimitar.

change: Has your OC ever drastically changed their appearance? Significant haircuts, big tattoos, complete wardrobe swap, etc? Why? How do they feel about the change?

Not really! He sort of gradually and naturally evolved into the persona he projects now with no sudden “I’m going to be a hippie” moments. His dad is a professional musician, and growing up with his dad’s artsy, bohemian friends influenced him from a young age. He’s always been an endearing kid with a funny wardrobe. There was a period in his early teens when he admired the more anarchist movements of Galt and tried wearing red and black, but it just didn’t suit his demeanor. People made fun of him more during that period than when he was his normal off-the-wall self.
