Tumblr media
You hold your breath once you step into the dimly lit tent, teeming with orcs and their smells. Carefully, you place one foot in front of the other, never taking your eyes off the enemy who is currently watching three elves enter its territory. Amidst all these orcs and darkness, you couldn't stand out less in your polished white armour.
You follow Vorohil who is walking directly behind Elrond, and quickly spot the Father of the Orcs sitting on a makeshift chair that almost resembles a throne. Your gaze doesn't linger on him for long, however, because something or someone else catches your eye. Galadriel is standing right behind him, tied up and leaning against a post. Her eyes widen when your gaze meets and everything in her face screams for you to not be here, to turn around and leave again immediately. But you are here to help her, to free her from the clutches of the enemy, from the claws of evil. And you won't leave without her.
One of the orcs tells Elrond to sit opposite Adar, and he does as he is told with so much confidence you hardly recognize the sweet, curious boy behind the mask. Vorohil positions himself to his left, you stand on his right, ready to step in at any time should something go amiss.
You are more than aware of your situation: right in the mouth of the enemy whose teeth could pierce your flesh any moment, with absolutely no escape. Should this turn out to be a trap and part of Adar's plan, you have stepped right into it. Yet, Elrond insisted on not bringing a weapon of his own. You, on the other hand, have hidden daggers all around your body that you could pull out in the blink of an eye if the situation arises.
Even though all eyes are on Elrond, you still feel uncomfortable. You have never been this close to orcs before without fighting them at the same time.
"The ring you carry. Show it to me", Adar opens the conversation, and you inevitably flinch. Of course he shows interest in the ring. Like all of Middle-earth, it may seem.
"A foolish act if I had brought it here", Elrond answers in a firm voice and appears calm and collected, stoic almost, one arm draped over the armrest.
Adar's expression tells you that he is less than satisfied with this answer. What he doesn't know, however, is that the ring is closer to him than he thinks possible.
Its metal presses cold against the skin between your collarbones, your heart thumping loudly at the mention of it and your mind drifts back to the moment when it was handed to you.
'You shall have it', Elrond tells you, wearing that gentle smile on his lips that always adorns his features when he's around you, that makes your heart beat faster every single time. He places Nenya in your palm and when the light reflects in its beauty, you gasp. This small ring, inconspicuous at first glance but incredibly beautiful, contains a power you can't and don't even want to imagine.
'No, Elrond. I can't', you whisper, afraid that your voice might break. He now clasps your hand with both of his and gently closes your fingers around the piece of jewelry.
'My love. I wouldn't trust anyone else to keep it safe', he tells you with so much confidence and affection in his voice that you can't help but believe his words. The way he stands in front of you, his brown locks falling into his face, his eyes clear and bright, and holds your hand tightly leaves no room for further discussion. He trusts you with this power and you won't fail him.
'You can consider yourself a ring bearer now', he smiles, gently guiding your fist to his mouth to place a light kiss on top of it, his other hand cupping your cheek while doing so. His eyes linger on your lips for a second too long, but before you can say anything, he is summoned to the High King.
"It was Celebrimbor himself who welcomed Sauron in. You cannot save him. You can save Galadriel", Adars voice brings you back to the present. The circumstances you find yourself in make it hard to believe his words. He won't let Galadriel go willingly and Elrond will never give him the ring voluntarily. Since it is in your possession, you don't plan on handing it over either. No matter how much more danger that puts you in.
"It is an earnest offer. I suggest you take it", Adar continues, staring solely at Elrond from across the table, and stands up from his seat. "And leave Sauron to me."
The mention of this name sends a shiver down your spine. A name that describes pure evil. It is obvious from the way Adar says his name that he feels as much hatred towards him as the elves and all other inhabitants of Middle-earth. It makes you a little suspicious, after all, Adar was once a loyal servant of Sauron.
Once more, your gaze slides over to Galadriel when Adar walks around the table. One of the orcs holds his sharp weapon against her throat, a sign to not even think of making a wrong move. It is known that Galadriel was deceived by Sauron, or Halbrand as she used to call him, which is why her face reacts to his name, too.
She whispers something and you try to read her lips, but you don't get a chance when Adar suddenly stands right in front of you, blocking your view. Although he is still talking to Elrond, his full attention is now solely on you.
"You must know you cannot defeat me in battle. I will outmaneuver you, my forces outfight yours, and you will fall", Adar spits out, searching your face for any signs of fear, but you hold your ground and present him with your best death stare in return. But inside of you, it looks much different. Chaos rages within your mind and veins, your heart is beating so fast that it's pounding in your ears and Nenya is pressing painfully against your skin. You send a prayer to the Valar that Adar won't suspect anything, that he can't see behind the mask you've put on. Because you don't know how much longer you can keep it up, especially not under his relentless gaze.
Adar takes another step towards you and you can now feel his breath on your skin. Since he knows that you cannot resist him at the moment, he uses this to his advantage. His eyes search your face, but you cannot say what exactly they are looking for. Whatever it is, he doesn't find it.
"You will fall and all your little elves with you", he says in a calm voice, but his words are filled with hatred. At this, Elrond suddenly raises from his seat as well and positions his body between the two of you, enabling you to finally breathe again, your heartbeat slowing with relief.
"Not before you have painted the sands of the Glanduin black with the blood of your kin", Elrond tells him, briefly looking over to the orc whose blade is still at Galadriel's throat. His hand behind his back indicates that you should remain calm. Some of the orcs around you growl.
"My children have endured cruelties your bravest couldn't bear to hear spoken aloud."
"Are you prepared to spend their lives so freely, Adar?", Elrond confronts him, his words sounding accusatory. "Are they?"
Peaking over Elrond's shoulders, you see a clear shift in Adar's face, in his eyes. Apparently Elrond has struck a nerve with his words, the orcs becoming more and more restless as well.
"The ring for Galadriel's life. What is it to be?", Adar once again presents him with the tough decision, to choose, to pick one and let the other down. Before answering, Elrond closely walks past Adar, drawing his attention away from you and what it is he desires most. From your position, you only see Elrond adjusting his cloak before he casts another glance at Galadriel. Their eye contact lasts almost a moment too long before he then returns his attention to her captor.
"Ask me on the field, when the neck with a blade against it is yours", Elrond tells him, his deep voice making it sound like a threat. The orcs around you begin to seethe and snarl again and all of a sudden you are very aware of the dagger strapped to your shin, hidden beneath the leather of your boots.
"Very well. I will meet you there", Adar replies, his voice carrying a tinge of amusement after he gave him a once-over. And for a moment you think he actually agrees, that this decision can be made without shedding any blood, no matter red or black. That is until he finishes his sentence.
"With her head on a pike."
You want to step in, to say something, anything to help get Galadriel and the ring out of here, but you don't even know what. And you don't want to risk putting Elrond in danger by acting rashly. That is why silence ensues for a moment while Adar and Elrond just stare each other down challengingly, neither of them backing down or even thinking about giving in.
"If that is to be the way of things, I should like to bid her farewell", Elrond finally answers him, causing a gasp to escape your lips as you unintentionally take a step forward. But Vorohil stops you by putting his arm out in front of you, preventing you from doing something you might regret later.
You can't believe what you're hearing, what just left Elrond's mouth. Galadriel, on the other hand, seems just about pleased with this decision, because it means that no one will be harmed because of her. At least no one who is currently present in this tent.
To your surprise, Adar grants him this favour and lets him talk to Galadriel one last time. All eyes are on them, but you can't hear what they say to each other; their voices too quiet. You watch in disbelief, however, as Elrond softly touches her face and suddenly leans in to her, connecting their lips in a gentle kiss.
All of a sudden, you find it difficult to breathe. You distinctly feel your heart breaking in two. The tent feels too small, too cramped, and tears well up in your eyes. No longer able to bear the sight, you lower your gaze, clenching your hands into fists at your sides. Although no one should be looking in your direction at this moment, it does not go unnoticed by Adar. He notices the pain in your eyes and in your entire life you have never felt so at the mercy of the enemy as you do right now.
You thought there was something between you and Elrond, a mutual, deep understanding that connected you. When by his side, you felt safe and loved. Until now you thought he returned that feeling and that there could be something more between the two of you, one day.
Apparently you were wrong.
It may have only been a few seconds, but for you it feels like several agonizing minutes before Elrond and Galadriel separate again. As soon as Elrond turns away from her, your eyes meet and a sharp pain ripples through your body, as if someone had stabbed you directly in the chest. Elrond's eyes are sad, suffering almost, and he looks at you with so much pity that you wish to disappear into thin air.
Elrond blinks a few times before making his way straight out of the tent.
"Vorohil. Y/N", he calls out your names, a silent command to follow him. Your gaze meets Adar's again who is watching you with his head tilted as you leave the tent together. You entered it as one, as a unit, but you leave it shattered.
You follow them out, the sun blinding you, but due to the tears you are still trying to hold back you couldn't see much from the beginning anyway. The orcs swarming around you aren't at all helping with the chaos that are your emotions.
You fall behind the two men. As if you were in a tunnel, you hear Vorohil bombarding Elrond with all sorts of questions in the distance. Questions whose answers are no longer important to you.
When they stop in front of you, you almost crash into them, too busy with all the thoughts swirling around in your head.
Was it all just a lie, a plot? Was he just using you to protect the ring? To have someone to sacrifice?
Your common sense tells you that this simply cannot be true, that Elrond has not been leading you astray and that what you feel for him is reciprocated inside of his heart. But your broken heart painfully beats in your chest and tells you something completely different.
You watch as Elrond mounts his horse and gives Vorohil an order, but the words do not reach your ears. You only see him in front of you, a knight in shining white armour, the sight of whom used to give you so much joy, made your heart beat faster and your cheeks blush. In the tent, you were willing to take a blade for him until the very end, but everything is different now.
Elrond's gaze wanders from Vorohil to you and all the sadness from before has disappeared from his face, replaced by a neutral expression. The expression of a warrior on his way into battle.
"Meantime, I will ensure that Eregion's walls hold for one more night", you finally register his words as he looks straight at you. Without another word, he puts on his helmet and rides away. An unspoken order hangs in the air and you swing yourself onto your own horse. After all, he is still your commander, whom you will always follow into battle, come what may.
════════════
Your legs are shaking, your hands sticky, covered in blood and mud. Your movements are shaped by exhaustion. Nevertheless, your blade sinks into the flesh of another orc who falls to the ground with a gurgling sound. With all your strength, you pull out your sword and stumble back a few steps, your gaze wandering over the battlefield in front of you.
Corpses over corpses scatter the ground. Some brave warriors are still fighting against the few remaining orcs, but there is no way out. You have lost, Eregion has fallen. You are shocked to realize that you have lost so many elves today, friends and strangers alike.
This realization hits you with so much force out of nowhere and you collapse to the ground, onto your knees, and let out a scream filled with pain and sorrow and all of your remaining strength. You fought, side by side, and in the end it was all for nothing. The forces of Adar have taken you by surprise and no one was prepared for the chaos that would ensue. Now you find yourself in the mud, surrounded by the dead, the last sounds of battle wafting towards you, and you feel utterly and completely alone.
You lost sight of Elrond since the troll's attack and Arondir is nowhere to be found either. Just thinking of Elrond gives your wounded heart another stab that cannot be compared to any wound inflicted in battle. Ever.
A tear finally finds its way down your cheek, but you are quick to wipe it away with your dirty hand. You can't show weakness, not even now when you feel incredibly overwhelmed. You don't even know if Elrond is still alive, and you scold yourself for still worrying about the man who took your feelings for granted.
But of course you do, you love him.
You don't know if it's the ring still around your neck or your instinct, but something tells you to look toward the fallen walls of Eregion, to get one last look at the once beautiful city. And there you see him.
Elrond.
Kneeling.
In front of Adar.
Without hesitating for even a split second, you gather all your strength and stand up. You approach them quickly and watch as Elrond attacks Adar with his dagger, but Adar parries his attack by violently grabbing his arm. With a whimper, Elrond drops his weapon. You stand still as Adar's hand closes around Elrond's throat and lifts him above the ground, choking him. The sounds that escape from Elrond's mouth will haunt you in your dreams.
"Where is it?!", Adar shouts at him, losing his composure. Elrond's hands claw at his, trying to somehow prie them away, but to no avail. The battle has left Elrond weakened. Adar, on the other hand, seems to have gained more strength from it. At that moment, Elrond spots you, and even though you only look at each other for a second, Adar immediately notices Elrond's shift of attention. He turns his head in your direction, and if you didn't know better, you'd think surprise flashes across his face. Apparently he didn't expect to ever see you again.
"Let him go", you command, your voice trembling and your sword pointing at him.
"Or what?", Adar asks spitefully, raising an eyebrow. Not knowing how to answer, you look at Elrond again.
"G-Go", he chokes out.
You look at him in shock and immediately shake your head. You would never leave him behind. Adar follows this encounter with interest and with a smile pulling at the corner of his mouth when something dawns on him. The next moment, he pushes Elrond to the ground forcefully who desperately gasps for air.
You want to rush to his side immediately, but Adar draws his own sword and pushes the tip directly against Elrond's throat who is still gasping for air and hasn't even managed to sit up.
You freeze when you see blood.
"So that's how it is, I understand", Adar murmurs loudly, seemingly amused by something. Then, he reaches out his open hand towards you, catching you by surprise.
"The ring. Or he's dead."
Your eyes inevitably widen, but you no longer have the strength to put on a mask and hide your true emotions. And in doing so, you put everyone in danger.
"D-Don't listen t-to him", Elrond stutters, his eyes full of terror when he meets your gaze. He is not afraid of dying. He is afraid that the ring will fall into the wrong hands.
You gave him your promise. When you accepted the ring, you simultaneously promised that you would protect it with your life. And you still stand by that.
But right now, this is not about your life.
"Hurry or your sweet commander will soon find it extremely difficult to breathe", Adar threatens and presses his blade even harder into Elrond's skin, making him whimper in pain.
He can't speak anymore because of the life-threatening weapon at his throat, but his tear-filled eyes scream at you not to give in. But how could you not?
You move your lips and form the words 'I'm sorry', but no sound wants to escape your throat, your vocal cords failing terribly.
Lowering your sword dejectedly, you feel for the silver chain around your neck and eventually pull it over your head. Nenya dangles at the end, catching the sunlight that slowly but surely breaks through the clouds. Your hand trembles as you place the ring in Adar's palm, feeling like a failure.
Not just to yourself, but to your entire kind. And above all, to Elrond.
As soon as Adar has the ring in his possession, he removes his sword from Elrond and lets you approach him. You immediately fall to your knees beside him. Elrond gasps for air and coughs repeatedly, his head thrown back in defeat. You support his head with one of your hands, helping him to sit up.
"Forgive me", you sob quietly, but get no answer from him. He watches silently as you are surrounded by orcs who were just waiting to take you as prisoners.
And the whole time you can only think of one thing: You betrayed them all.
════════════
You were about to set out to help her on your commander's orders. But it was already too late. You only saw a white figure falling down the cliffs. Now you're running through the dense forest, searching the ground, looking for a body. Every inch of your own body hurts, the cuts across your face throbbing painfully, but you have to keep going, keep walking just a bit longer, because she could be lying behind the next tree and you would never forgive yourself if you didn't find her.
Taking a break and catching your breath for a second, you lean against a tree, the battle taking a heavy toll on your body and strength. Suddenly you fleetingly notice a white shimmer to your right and run straight towards it, your ribs hurting. You breathe a sigh of relief and, at the same time, shock when you see Galadriel's motionless body on the ground, her arms stretched out at unnatural angles.
Without wasting any time, you rush to her, lifting her head so that you can gently place it on your lap. Loudly, you call out to the others that you have found her.
Her face is covered in soot and blood, her eyes closed. As you look at her like this, you once again realize how truly beautiful she is, even on the treshold to death. Your thoughts make your heart ache deeply, because how could Elrond not take a liking to her?
"They will be here soon", you whisper encouragingly, although you are not even sure she can hear you and your voice sounds anything but heartening. Your gaze lands on a large wound on her shoulder, the source of black streaks that are running across her armour. Carefully, you lift her armour with shaking hands and recoil in shock, as if you burned yourself, when you see a dark mark carved into her skin.
You don't get the chance to think about it any further, however, when Arondir and the High King finally arrive at your side. You let Gil-galad help Galadriel and take a few steps back, giving them enough space. As you do so, a light catches your eye, coming from under a branch. The relief you feel deep inside when you spot Nenya is overwhelming.
The High King tries healing Galadriel with the help of his ring. In Quenya, he orders her to step back into the light and leave the darkness behind her and her soul. With tears in your eyes, you watch as Galadriel takes heaving breaths, her eyes blinking violently, but she doesn't come back. Every passing second, she leaves the light a little more.
When you hear footsteps, running quickly at first and then slowing down abruptly, you don't have to turn around to know that it is Elrond.
"We're losing her", Arondir says and looks around helplessly. You see as much pain in his eyes as is reflected in yours and Elrond’s.
When you look over at Elrond at last, your heart stops beating for a moment. You thought you had already seen him at his lowest, where things couldn't have gotten any worse, completely devastated, but the way he is looking at Galadriel right now convinces you otherwise. The sadness that adorns his battle-torn but still beautiful features brings even more tears to your eyes.
His heart seems broken, crying for Galadriel.
"The darkness is too powerful. I cannot save her", the High King utters in defeat.
Even though it is only for one short moment, you hesitate. You hesitate to give the ring to Elrond, afraid of what might happen then, that your heart will crumble into even more fragile pieces.
"You can", you hear your own voice from afar and give Elrond the ring that you lost earlier. Elrond's eyes suddenly become clearer, brighter as he takes it, feeling it in his palm. But his eyes tell you that he is afraid, too. Afraid that he may not be able to save her. He fears he might lose her.
Gathering all your remaining strength, you force an encouraging smile onto your face, nodding and indicating that he should go to her. Elrond doesn't return your smile, he still looks at you with so much suffering in his eyes, but his facial features are more at ease now as he nods back at you. His way of thanking you.
"We can", he states, to convince himself once again before he puts on the ring.
════════════
You stare at your own reflection, which looks up at you from the quiet water of the river. You dip your fingertips into the water, the waves that result distorting your face. The wounds that covered your face have been cleaned and treated, only slight cuts still visible. There is nothing to do but rest and reflect while everyone waits for Galadriel to awaken.
You are not startled when you suddenly see another reflection, a face above your own, for you have heard him coming.
"Galadriel has awakend", Elrond lets you know and elicits nothing more than a nod from you. "She is up and well."
"I'm glad", you reply and see his brow frowning, his eyes growing sadder in the reflection of his face in the water. Which surprises you in all honesty, because he should be filled with happiness right now. You may have lost the rings for men and many of your elven friends have fallen, but in the end you are alive and safe. Galadriel is safe.
In fact, you admit that you feel relief that she seems to be doing well, but it somehow still hurts just thinking about the kiss they shared.
"May I.. May I have a moment of your time?", Elrond asks you now, after a few seconds of silence, filled only by the chirping of birds and the rustling of the trees around you. This place is truly a sanctuary.
His voice sounds so fragile that you can't help but raise up and turn to him, folding your hands in front of your lower body.
"I bestowed the ring upon you as a token of my faith in you", Elrond explains and you notice from the small wrinkles on his forehead that he is having difficulty finding the right words.
Meanwhile, you just want to leave. You can't listen to him express his disappointment about your actions. After everything that has happened, you're just not strong enough anymore. Your heart is not strong enough.
"I entrusted you with it because I didn't trust myself", he continues, looking into your eyes, but you avert them and focus on the grass on the ground. "Because I knew that, if the situation occurred, I would have acted the same way you did."
A look of surprise crosses your face as you lift your gaze and meet his glistening eyes.
"If the roles had been reversed, I would have given up the ring, too. For your life", Elrond states, his eyes solely focused on yours. "Because when it concerns you, I'm simply too weak. You are my weakness. By giving Nenya to you I thought I could prevent myself from losing it. Instead, I placed the burden upon you."
Your heart beats loudly in your ears, not quite understanding what he is saying.
"But Galadriel-"
"What you saw.. It was a distraction. Galadriel is merely a good friend, whom I love differently", Elrond explains and his voice tells you how sorry he is. "I gave her the pin off my shoulder piece to give her a chance to escape. I couldn't guarantee that it would work, but I took the risk. And I was willing to hurt you by doing so."
He carefully reaches for your hand and you let him take it, continuing to stare at him with glassy eyes as he speaks, your throat dry.
"I am deeply sorry for any pain my actions have inflicted upon you", he apologizes sincerely and lowers his head in regret, some of his brown curls falling into his face. "I couldn't even look at you after that because I could see exactly how badly I had hurt you."
"E-Elrond..", you get out, but you don't even know how to continue or what to say to him. Your emotions are all over the place because you have wanted to hear these words from him for so long, but on the other hand you feel sad because he suffered as well. And if there is one thing you hate more than anything else, it is seeing those you love hurt.
"Another weakness on my part was not telling you about my true feelings earlier. It was unfair since you have always given me nothing but sincerity and affection. My love, I hope you can forgive me and overlook my weaknesses", he says, his voice getting quieter and more humble towards the end, his hand squeezing yours tightly as if you could run away at any moment. What he doesn't know, however, is that with every word he is mending your heart a little bit more.
"I remain hopeful that you will return my love, despite what happened."
He stands before you, probably barely able to stand after days of constant fighting, and pours his heart out to you. He is still in his armour, his face scarred by battle. And you can't help but admire him for it.
Because what he is doing right now is braver than anything he has ever done before.
Without saying a word, you finally pull him towards you and wrap your arms around his neck tightly, his armour pressing against your chest. At first, Elrond didn't expect such a reaction, which is why it takes him a moment until his muscles relax, the burden falling from his shoulders, and his arms sneak around your waist.
"Sometimes I really hate you, Elrond Peredhel", you say against his neck before pulling away from him, hitting his chest plate once to get your point across. Laughing, he takes a step back and protects himself with his arms in front of his chest. You laugh too, but only for a moment until Elrond's smile disappears again as he looks at you.
"Your beauty is truly captivating", he smiles softly and slowly steps closer so that your bodies almost touch. His hand reaches out to tuck a strand of hair behind your pointed ear as he looks back and forth between your eyes, his fingertip gently running over your skin from your ear to your chin. His touch leaves a trail of warmth. A smile twitches at the corner of your mouth and your gaze wanders to his lips.
The world stands still for a moment, all the events of the last few hours forgotten, banished from your thoughts to enjoy this one moment.
When Elrond's lips gently connect with yours, your patched up heart feels like it's about to jump out of your chest. Elrond's hand on your chin pulls you even closer to him, but he does it in such a gentle way that your cheeks turn red. One of your hands searches for support on his armor because your knees feel like they are about to give in. But you know that Elrond would be there to catch you. Your knight in shining armour.
You never want to stop kissing him. How many times have you dreamed of this moment, imagined what it would be like. All your expectations are being exceeded right now.
When Elrond pulls away from you so you can both catch your breath, he leans his forehead against yours gently. You immediately miss the feeling of his lips on yours.
"My love", Elrond whispers against your skin, placing a soft kiss on your forehead. His cheeks took on a shade of red after the kiss and you are certain that his heart is beating against his armour just as fast as yours. Gently, you cup his heated cheek and run your finger over his skin, being careful not to touch any of his wounds. Then you can't stand it any longer, pull him even closer to you and kiss him again, which elicits a surprised gasp from him. Both of you smile into the kiss as he leans in even more.
If it were up to you, this moment would last forever - just you and Elrond and your love for each other. But you know that this is just wishful thinking, that you have tasks to complete, duties to fulfill. After this moment, the world will continue spinning, wars and battles will be fought, history will be written, but now you know that whatever happens, Elrond is by your side. For eternity.

Arrival of Spring
Pairing: Elrond x (fem!) Reader
Genre: fluff
Warning: none
Words: 2430
Tumblr media
Rivendell existed for a little over one and a half millennia. It was prestigious, peaceful, beautiful. Your family originated from Lothlórien, your father was a well trusted guard of Celeborn and Lady Galadriel, which earned your family a great reputation. You were always seen walking the royal gardens, making lots of girls your age jealous as very few people out of the royal family had access to those places. But you being friends with Celebrían gave you an easy way in to all those forbidden areas. That was years ago though, as you now lived in Rivendell alone. What made you move to Rivendell, leaving your family behind in your homeland? Elrond, lord of Rivendell came to Lothlórien after the War of the Elves and Sauron, explaining that he planned to establish a life there and wished it could serve good purposes. Hearing of it, you thought he was noble, and felt as it was your duty to help him achieve his goal. And you did just that.
Elrond was more than appreciative of anyone that wanted to establish a life there and help make this place a welcoming heaven. You were amazed at how easily everyone got acclimated and how quickly this place was becoming what Elrond wished for it to be. As the months went by, you grew quite fond of your new home. You loved how peaceful and quiet it was, you loved taking walks along the many bridges, sitting on benches under the gazebos to read a book while the misty air of the nearby mountains left a cool feeling on your pinkish cheeks. The sound of the river falling over rocks was so relaxing that you could easily spend hours at the same place without noticing time going by. And today was one of those days.
You had been sitting under one of the highest gazebos, reading a book you took from the library this morning. There was a light spring breeze, the flowers were in bloom and birds were making their nest in the highest branches of Rivendell’s trees. Your hair was flowing in the wind, a lock often finding its way in your face, disturbing your reading. After tucking the said lock of hair behind your pointy ear, you resumed to your activities, reading the last few sentences of the chapter that now began to make way more sense than when you read the first phrases of it a few pages back. Time went by, and slowly the air became colder as the sun started making its descent in the sky, gradually making space for the moon to replace the biggest star’s warm light by its cold one. But your body didn’t acknowledge it, after all, elves don’t react to cold weather as easily as others. However, it wasn’t the cold that snapped you out of your reading, but a voice coming from behind you.
‘’Why am I not surprised to find you here?’’
The voice made you jump, yet made you smiled as you recognized it immediately. You turned your head and faced the dark-haired elven lord.
‘’You should come inside’’ Elrond said.
‘’I will, brennyn nín’’ you answered while smiling. ‘’it appeared I lost track of time once again’’
Elrond smiled back and offered you his hand so that you could stand up. He watched as you carefully closed the book, which you almost finished reading, and took his hand, getting up from the white stone bench that was beautifully sculpted.
‘’Please, just call me Elrond’’ he said with his smile still present.
You felt your cheek heat up as you looked into his eyes, and simply gave a small nod. You walked by his side, listening as he talked to you about the gardens and all the flowers that are currently blooming. You took occasional glances at the man beside you, carefully as you did not want to be caught. He was wearing a golden robe made of silk, which flowed with each step he took. His dark and long hair was carefully slicked back and braided, leaving only two strands of hair by each side of his face, a hairstyle he always wore yet you never got tired of seeing it. You loved how it highlighted his features, how his eyes seemed to call even more for your attention. His crown which was so delicate, yet so majestic, and deeply enhancing how gracious he looked. His looks really didn’t compare, and they never got out of your head.
‘’(y/n)?’’
You turned your head to your right after hearing your name.
‘’You seemed deeply lost in your thoughts’’ Elrond said with a small chuckle.
‘’Oh, I’m sorry I did not realize’’
Your cheeks quickly colored red with embarrassment as you hoped he didn’t notice you were looking at him.
‘’It’s alright, I simply was asking which of the flowers you were most excited to see bloom. I know you have spent quite some time in the gardens at Lothlórien and I hope we can make Rivendell’s as beautiful’’
‘’Well, I always loved hyacinths. They are simple yet their color is always so vibrant that it warms your heart in some way’’ you smiled.
‘’Luckily for us that we were able to get some and hopefully ours will grow beautifully, even if I doubt they will be just as Lothlórien’s ones’’
‘’Lothlórien is hard to compare, that’s true. But I believe we can make equally as appealing and charming as the ones from my homeland’’
Elrond nodded and smiled.
‘’Your enthusiasm is what will make them bloom as lovely’’ he said.
You thanked him with a shy voice and stopped walking, almost bumping into the elf as you didn’t notice he himself stopped. As you were about to question the sudden halt, you noticed that you had reached the door to your chambers. You didn’t even realize that you weren’t outside anymore.
‘’You should change, we are having a feist tonight to celebrate the arrival of spring’’
‘’Eru.. It absolutely slipped out of my mind I am so sorry’’ you quickly said, feeling bad as you should’ve gotten ready for it earlier.
‘’There’s no need for apologies, heryn nín. The feist doesn’t start until another hour, you have all the time you need’’
Your eyes grew big, you couldn’t believe your ears. Surely you didn’t hear him properly, he possibly could not have called you like that.
‘’Yes alright, I will ready myself then’’ you said, trying to brush what just happened out of your head.
Elrond smiled and bowed his head in a small nod.
‘’I shall see you then’’
And with that he walked away, most likely to get ready himself. You quickly entered your chamber and closed the wooden door behind you, resting your back on it for a few seconds.
‘’Heryn nín’’ you whispered to yourself, confusion invading your mind.
You yet again put those thoughts aside and walked towards the carved wooden wardrobe and opened it, looking through the dresses that were hanging. You wanted something fancier than a regular dress, but you didn’t have that many. Since it was a feist for spring, you also wanted something of light colors, and as you kept looking at your dresses, your eyes set on one. Since you moved to Rivendell, you had dresses made that were more in the established style, but you still had a few dresses from your home. Your hands carefully grabbed the light purple fabric and you smiled. This was one of your favorites, which is why you brought it with you to Rivendell. It was made of lace, which gave it a more ethereal and mystical look, and it was a classic wardrobe in Lothlórien. You slipped your current dress off your shoulders and carefully dressed in the one you would wear to the feist. After brushing and braiding your hair again, you were ready to join everyone.
As you went down the stairs to and walked outside where the feist was taking place, you could hear many people talking and soft music. As you stepped amongst everyone else, you noticed three elves playing the harp and two playing the flute, each equally separated from each other, as well as a flutist between each harpist. This made you smile, you always loved when things were well separated like such. As your feet led you to grab a drink, your eyes looked around, searching through every elf to find the one you wanted to see, but he was no where to be seen. Or so you thought, because as you grabbed your glass of wine you heard his voice.
‘’Well, I was not expecting to see you in such dress tonight’’
You smiled a bit shyly, hoping he wasn’t unhappy about your fashion choice.
‘’I felt this was the most appropriate way I could dress for such an occasion. Celebrating the arrival of spring is a festive day, and I felt that dressing in too heavy colors and fabrics would go against the meaning of the celebration’’
Elrond smiled and brought his glass to his lips, taking a sip of his wine.
‘’I agree, you made a good decision in wearing this dress, it’s very flattering’’
You thanked him and gently bowed your head to him, which he responded with an even wider smile.
‘’May I bring you elsewhere? There is something I would like to show you’’
‘’Show me?’’ you asked, a bit confused.
‘’Yes, I promise it is worth the sight’’
You were confused why he suddenly wanted to show you something, let alone be uniquely with you. Not that you never been in his company alone, but this was the first time he requested such thing.
‘’Well then, lead the way my lord’’
Elrond chuckled and started walking. While you two directed yourselves to wherever he wanted to bring you, Elrond couldn’t help but look at you, and how beautiful the dressed looked on you. By the same means, you were also looking at him, loving the color of his robe. He was wearing a light orange one, which is a color you rarely ever saw him wear and you definitely would tell him that it suited him, if you weren’t so shy around him.
You noticed that he was bringing you to the gardens, but through a hidden path. You were walking under trees which were blooming with their flowers, a few petals dancing in the wind above your heads.
‘’I never knew this path was here’’ you said as you looked around in awe at the sight.
‘’Very few people know of it, and I want it to stay that way, so that it’s more private’’
You nodded and he smiled. When you entered the garden, you saw immediately why he brought you here.
‘’I can’t believe it..’’ you said as you made your way to the hyacinths which were now in full bloom, earlier than their usual time.
You put your glass of wine down on a nearby rounded stone table and kneeled in front of the flowers, gently touching the delicate petals.
‘’Beautiful isn’t it?’’
‘’Magnificent’’ you answered, still not believing what your eyes were showing you.
Elrond watched you as you admired the flowers, and he smiled. Long has he been thinking of talking to you about his feelings, but he barely ever talked to you long enough to justify doing so, and he didn’t want to come forward and make things uncomfortable. But it was becoming harder for him, and he noticed himself trying to find any reasons to approach you. Today for instance when he saw you for the twelfth time of the day as he walked by, he stepped forward and reminded you of the feist. Mostly because he wanted to be sure that you would attend as he wanted to spend more time with you. And now, using the hyacinth as an excuse to steal you away from the others so that he could be alone with you.
Elrond put his glass besides yours and kneeled by your side. You turned your head as you saw his silhouette move and smiled as his knee rested on the ground. He smiled back and kept looking at you. Your eyes were shining so brightly in the moonlight, none of the stars in the sky could compare to those little constellations in your eyes, and Elrond fell even more in love with you. It’s in this moment that he knew he had to open his heart to you, and hope that you too would open your heart to him.
‘’(y/n)’’
‘’Yes, my lord?’’
You knew you could call him by his name, as he told you earlier today and a few other times before, but it felt wrong to do so.
‘’I have to speak with you about something, and I’m sorry if my words are unforeseen, but they must be told’’
You felt a ball form in your stomach and your throat tightened. Eru only knows what he was about to say, and you were nervous, terrified even.
‘’Y-Yes?’’ you stuttered, trying to stay calm.
Elrond took your hands in his and stood up, bringing you upwards with him so that he could look into those starry eyes of yours.
‘’I must confess that ever since you came here, I look forward to the next day, even more than before. I wake up in the morning thinking of one thing and one thing only, and that thought never leaves my mind’’ his hold on your hand tightened gently. ‘’You make my heart beat, meleth nín, you warm me and make me complete’’
You couldn’t believe your ears. Never in a thousand years would you have thought that Elrond, lord of Rivendell would have feelings for you.
‘’My lord..’’ you said, still surprised at his sudden confession. ‘’I can’t believe this.. Truly I can’t’’
You looked at your hands in his and then back at him.
‘’I never thought you would feel such emotions towards me, after all I’m just the daughter of a guard, I’m not of royal blood like you-’’
‘’None of these matters to me’’ Elrond quickly said, interrupting you. ‘’What I said, I meant it, I meant all of it’’
You looked at him again, his eyes were full of hope and it made a small smile draw on your reddish lips.
‘’My lord.. I feel the same way’’
Elrond smiled and brought your hands to his lips before giving a gentle kiss on your knuckles.
‘’Well then meleth, from now on please, simply call me Elrond’’
‘’I will, Elrond’’

Love Me Tender
Tumblr media
Elrond x Reader
You felt a cold breeze, the first sign of winter. It made a chill run down your spine.
You adored every season.
Spring for it's beauty, it was the symbol of the start of something new. Summer, for the warmth and many opportunities it brought.
Fall for the falling leaves and Winter for the snow.
Winter to you meant change, it was the beginning of something new.
And it was also winter when you met the love of your life, Elrond.
You were lost in the woods, no idea where you were heading after a terrible encounter with Orcs.
You were lost with Orcs hot in your tail. The forest was unforgiving, it was cold, no leaves to hide behind, all you could do was run.
Then you heard weapons clashing and suddenly, a young handsome elf stood in front of you.
"My name is Elrond," he introduced himself, so gentle and kind, it made you trust him immediately.
You remember how much you were shaking, from both the cold and the fear.
Yet, somehow he was able to calm you in a matter of seconds.
His eyes held such gentleness and kindness, only the freezing temperatures stayed.
Didn't take long for Elrond to start courting you.
Your admiration and friendship for Elrond soon turned into love.
And after exchanging promises, you became his wife.
His one and only.
The one he proudly showed off by his side. The one who opened his eyes to many things, the one he loved the most, you.
And most importantly, the one who gave him the gift of a beautiful daughter and two strong sons.
Elrond was older now, his spirit unbreakable, and his love for you burning with the same flame as many many many moons ago.
There, you stood, out on the balcony of Rivendell, looking at the night sky as slowly snow started to fall. The moon was bright in the night sky, illuminating you as if the moon wanted your husband to see where you were exactly.
"My Love, isn't it too cold for you be out here?" he asked as he approached you. Taking you fully in, now while he still saw the same woman he saved so many years ago, that frightened little thing he saved, he couldn't doubt that the woman in front of him was a lot more mature. A mother to his children, a Lady for his kin and a wife for him.
"It is cold, but I couldn't deny the moon. It is too pretty to simply ignore." you turned slightly and looked up at the moon again.
"While I do agree with you, I would rather you look at the moon from the warmth of our chambers."
You smiled and turning you nodded. Knowing there was no point in arguing with your husband. And you were rather cold, so you allowed him to take you inside.
In your chambers, the fire was cracking, the room felt so warm, it was your home. In this room, nothing else mattered but you and Elrond. No elf, or dwarf, no orc or men. Only you and your love for one another.
You moved to your side of the bed, while your husband did the same, waiting for you so he can hold you, you moved your head onto his chest as he moved his arm around you, holding you as you watched the fire crackle.
"Good night, My Love." he whispered.
"Good night, Elrond, I love you." you replied, and although you did hear him mumble something, sleep took over and you couldn't hear him fully.
But deep in your heart you knew exactly what he said, so you slept with a smile on your face.

elrond through the ages based on one glorious panel from chapter 95 of Black Butler (hopefully i got that right....). in the context of this sequence, i always thought it was sad to think abt how many people elrond has lost throughout his life alongside how remarkable he is to remain "as kind as summer" still by the time the hobbit rolls around 🥺
i redrew elrond's poses based on ciel's in the original panels BUT i forgot what page exactly the original panel sequence is... however!! if you scroll down to the middle half of this blog post you can find the original reference pic :D warning that it includes heavy spoilers for the black butler manga so u could just alternatively google 'ciel phantomhive running' and it'd probably be one of the first results that pop up haha

there are many reasons I like the "Erestor son of Caranthir" headcanon but secretly the main one is that I'm imagining all of the remaining noldo auditors sighing of relief when Caranthir dies and they don't have to try play 4d chess with multiverse time travel trying to catch this guy doing tax evasion. life is good for exilic auditors now.
and then suddenly Elrond and Elros turn up again! even better! oh who's this, Elrond? your good friend Erestor? he's helping you with your taxes? oh how swe- what is this Elrond. What is this. your paperwork for your taxes you say. not a declaration of war? because it looks like a declaration of war on the exilic auditors, Elrond.
and then all the auditors are so busy doing "extreme tax auditing™" for the first time since the second Kinslaying that they don't tell anyone they're pretty sure there's another scion of the house of Fëanor running around.

The trees of Lindon glimmered gold and winked in the sunlight as vibrant veins of restored Light flowed through them all. It was a gorgeous sight; one you were happy to bask in after nearly losing it to the dark depths of evil corrupting Middle-earth. The only reason you had this glorious sight of twinkling beauty was because you had alined yourself with Galadriel and Celebrimbor about the distribution and use of the Elven Rings of Power - though you did not wish to claim one.
You merely desired the salvation of your people on this Middle-earth the Valar gifted The Children of Ilúvatar.
In order to support the Rings, you had to oppose the only person you had ever loved unconditionally, and nothing hurt like that. Despite the pain, disruption, turmoil, the angst it put you and Elrond through, you did not waver in your opinion - but he did not relent in his stance, either.
That was usually a quality you adored in your husband; how stubborn, strong, enduring, passionate, educated, and unrelenting he was. Yet for this, you were beyond frustrated.
You remembered the look of utter betrayal in his eyes when he stormed away the day the Rings were all claimed by Círdan, Gil-Galad, and Galadriel. He couldn't look at you, on those stairs, opposing him and defending the Rings. So, he fled the scene - unable to hide how displeased, unhappy, and horrified he felt.
After that, the two of you began to bicker over simple, common, mundane, marital situations; he instigated fights, prolonged arguments, even lit purposeful fires to force you into verbal altercations. You argued endlessly, needlessly, heatedly about things that voices didn't need raised for. Tension followed you everywhere, filled every room, and after just a few nights... Elrond decided he couldn't sleep in your shared chambers any longer.
You had returned from duty to find him sending several cases of his personal belongings away, freezing when he realized you had caught him. He looked akin to a startled animal. "I did not mean for you to see this," he offered stiffly as if embarrassed, "I-I thought you were on patrol."
"I was switched to the nightshift," you explained meekly, watching servants stream from the room with their arms full of his desired effects. "W-What's going on? What're you doing?"
Elrond sighed, unable to meet your eyes for several long minutes. Then, he licked his lips, nodded, and told you, "I just figured, considering the state of affairs, we'd benefit - "
"Our marriage isn't an 'affair', Elrond!" You snapped, tears filling your eyes. "We're just in a strange state, couples are allowed to disagree, there's a lot unknown - "
"I can't stay here anymore, love, and watch how much I'm hurting you," his head shook. "You think you're silent, but I hear your weeping. I know you avoid coming to bed because I'm there first. You used to pin my robes in the morning, and now, I'm lucky if I even catch a glimpse of your skirt as you rush out the door as I wake. We're not happy anymore, Y/N..."
You froze, lungs shriveling into nothing, shock pumping into your system. "Yo-You're not happy?" You stuttered, stumbling back a couple steps as if he had brandished a sword.
Elrond just stared at you, asking, "Are you? Truly?"
"Generally, yes! I am certainly not so unhappy that I want us apart! This is just a difficult position we're in, but we will get past it, Elrond, we always do!"
"This isn't just a difficult position," he snapped, shocking you back another single step. "We're at odds, starshine, and I hate to admit it. But this is bigger than us, than our love - this is fundamental - "
"And about more than us! Yes! That's what I'm thinking of, Elrond, our people!"
"And what of Sauron? What of his influence upon the Rings!?"
"What of the good they've done? What of the connection?"
"What do you mean - "
"Galadriel!" You snapped. "The obvious connection the Ring amplifies within her! There is a grave new sense she and the other Ringer Bearers have. She can use this Ring to-to-to sense evil, perhaps even see ahead of the enemy! It might be his influence, but aren't we stronger? Stronger than him, together?"
"Those who wear the Rings - "
"You speak of your former mentor, the Elven High King, and your greatest friend. Which of them will you predict to fall?"
"After Galadriel’s already fallen prey - "
"But she is the wiser, the stronger for it! She is thrice as determined before! Why must these Rings divide us, Elrond? Why can we not simply say we leave all politics at the door when we are together?"
Sadly, slowly, he shuffled closer and reached out to caress your cheek. "I love you, my star," he reminded, "but in knowing your stance, I cannot allow us to continue being so destructive to each other. Support the Rings, my love," he lowered his forehead to yours, "but I cannot stand at your side while you do so... Not when I know of Sauron's influence..."
You pulled back, sniffling down the tears that surfaced to nod with a sarcastic smile. "I thought when we took our vows of matrimony, we'd hold true... But I can see, you do not intend to see us through this bog."
"That's where you're wrong," he snarled, stepping closer to hold both of your upper arms and jostle you slightly, "don't you see? Don't you understand? We need the space or we'll keep hurting one another, and I don't know if there's a way for us to heal after that. As of now, we stand a chance, but only if we curate distance - so we need to proceed individually as we need best."
His reasoning was logical, but you were beyond hurt by his departure. Perhaps it was for the best; especially when the High King decided to send a scouting party after Sauron, anointing Elrond as Commander, and upon the news, you panicked. Like, fully broke down in worried tears, alone. Yet you did not go to him, you did not speak out, you just accepted the High King's command and gathered in the courtyard with any other loved ones wishing the company safe travels.
Yet Elrond just looked at you sadly and lifted his hand in parting before turning to lead his comrades out of Lindon.
You shed a single tear as High King Gil-galad was felt at your flank, slowly entering your peripheral. "They have passed out of my sight," you informed him, voice trembling.
"I know of the strife between you and Commander Elrond..." the King trailed off, "But I would like to commend you for remaining a pillar in your belief. These Rings," he showed his, "are a power and force we do not yet understand in full."
"Perhaps, in time," you agreed, sniffling. "If you would excuse me, my King."
He agreed, letting you go; and all you could do was return to your chambers and throw yourself into your pillows for a good cry. After a single day or moping, you got up and got back to work; working with the other trusted advisors to devise battle strategies, evacuation plans, and whatever else you could do preemptively. You didn't know how long Elrond was gone for because after leaving your chambers, you scarcely saw him - something you suspect was on purpose. All you knew was that he was gone and you missed him.
"Sister!"
You looked up when Tinnriel, or Tinnie, rushed into the council room. "What's wrong?" You asked in alarm, straightening up to take her in arms.
"I-I saw - I saw Elrond - he's on his way here - "
"Slow down," you pleaded.
"Something's wrong!" She sneered at you, pushing your arms down. "I've been telling you for weeks! But you do not listen! To myself or your husband!"
"Oh, not this again, Tinnie, I've told you - "
"That it is paranoia, yes, I've heard you, but you and Elrond are at odds! That's not my paranoia! You two never feud, he's been gone days and now returns, looking worse for wear!"
"High King, I apologize for my sister's interruption - "
"She's not wrong," Gil-galad muttered, making you pause.
"My King?"
"You are not wrong, Tinnie," He addressed your sister, finding her eyes and holding her hostage by a single look, "for I have felt the darkness, too. There is something amiss, I will agree, but..."
"It is the Rings!" She insisted.
"Oh, not this again!" You snarled, seizing her upper arm. "Out! Now! You will still your tongue before the King!"
"High King!" You heard Elrond calling, rushing down the hall you were surging up. He spoke your name, "Where are you going?"
"To have a word - "
"This is much more important. Trust me, please! With me, now!" He breezed past you, but caught your free arm in his hold - pulling you after him and forcing you to release Tinnie. "High King," Elrond addressed as he lead you back into the room, your younger sister lingering in the doorway to listen, "the Orcs are not in Mordor."
"Elrond, our reports - "
"We've encountered them!" Elrond cut you off, making you silence yourself out of sheer curiosity; not accustomed to seeing him so disheveled and manic... So authoritative. "A legion of them are headed for Eregion." He pulled out Nenya, showing the King, "My wife and Galadriel were right! They were right! You must send the army to Eregion this moment."
Your head bowed in disappointment, wishing beyond wishful thought that you had been gifted with foresight - then you could've seen this, withheld the Elven Armies from marching to Mordor, been better prepared. Elrond noted your silence first, ready to question you, when the High King stiffly informed, "That will not be possible. I have reason to believe that Sauron is the architect of all this."
Choosing his words carefully, Elrond argued slightly, "High King, Eregion is the very jewel of Elvendom. If it were to fall, it would be a mortal blow for all in Middle-earth. You must send aid!"
"Our armies cannot defeat both Adar and Sauron. Not alone."
Something clicked in your mind, straightening up and taking hold of Elrond's arm. You bowed your head in agreement, "Of course, High King, we understand. Allow me the day to catch my husband up on recent events, we might reconvene later - "
"I shall send for you when a decision has been made," Gil-galad waved off, you all but shoving Elrond from the room; almost tripping over Tinnie.
"Go, go, go, just go," you muttered to the two in Sindarin, releasing Elrond's arm - surprise coloring your features when he snatched your hand into his. Yet you did not comment. At the end of the hall, you halted them both, being aware of the stationed guards, keeping your voice low, "Tinnie, go attend to the rest of Commander Elrond's company. I imagine they'll need food, rest, perhaps aid?"
"Camnir was shot with an arrow..." Elrond muttered, "But Galadriel healed him."
"How?" Tinnie squeaked.
"Nenya... I saw it myself..."
You sighed, "Tinnie, please?"
She nodded, "Shall I speak to them?"
"They will want to give their account, please take record for the King," you instructed, Elrond's hand tightening in yours almost unconsciously.
"What're you going to do?"
"Speak with my husband," you sighed.
"No, I mean... If you and Galadriel were right, if the Orcs are marching on Eregion... What're you going to do?"
"We have much to discuss before a decision can be made," Elrond told her, tone hardened, "now, please, Tinnie, go."
Tinnie noticed the darker, deeper baritone to his voice and instantly nodded and scurried away towards the front gates. "How far back did you leave your company?" You asked softly, watching the last of Tinnie's skirts sweep around the corner.
"Far enough. Come," he directed, turning to start down the pathway; leading you towards the quarters you once shared. Yet before you could enter, you reared back; yanking his hand, his concerned expression turning down in gentle aggravation. "What's the matter?" He asked.
"You don't live here anymore."
Elrond heaved a great sigh, turning to you, "Truly? You wish to do this now?"
"For weeks, you've picked arguments. You've been combative, irritable, spiteful. You... You chose a ring over me - "
"That's not true - "
"How would you phrase it then!?"
"I chose ethics! Morality! You chose a Ring of Power, not just a ring!" He barked at you, both cracking under the pressure the Ring had subjected your marriage to.
"And look where it lead! You come storming in, declaring Galadriel and I are right to the High King, and now... Now it sounds as if you still defend your decision!"
"I do."
You shook off his grip, "Then perhaps we might find somewhere more neutral to discuss matters?"
Elrond heaved a sigh, "What's wrong with our rooms - your rooms? What's wrong with your rooms?"
"Exactly that, they're mine. Not ours. It seems, no matter where I look, I am reminded that my husband didn't love me enough - "
"Don't you ever say that again!" Elrond snarled, leering over you; back to a bannister, bending you back slightly as you refused to back down - keeping him in front of you. He was heaving for breath, body trembling; proximity allowing you to count the pores clogged by dirt, blood, and grime. "You may hold all the anger you wish, but never accuse me of something so heinous, impossible, untrue. So unfathomable."
"Then prove me wrong!" You fired back, shoving at his abdomen to force him back a step so you could righten yourself off the bannister. "You proved to me your anger, now prove your love! Your remorse! Show me an apology, do not just say it! You looked at me with such hate, Elrond, and you left our rooms, you left me - over a matter of opinion! Do you know what that felt like? What pain that caused? You swore to me - "
"I know what our vows were!" He snapped, tears tinging his eyes red; the air hot between your mouths as you both seethed in anger. "I know what we promised, but never did I think Sauron would return, let alone offer such threat!"
"I am beginning to think you are angry about something else! Is it Galadriel - "
"It's me!"
You were startled into silence, his voice echoing down the hall as his facial expression turned angry. Elrond turned from you to pace himself in a semi-circle, and for whatever reason, you softly questioned, "Where's your cloak?"
"What?" Elrond scoffed, having created distance that you closed to lay your hand on his bicep.
"Your father's cloak, Elrond, where is it?"
"I do not know - I don't..." His head shook, looking annoyed with himself. So, you sighed and nodded, dropped your hand to his and laced your fingers together before leading him into your quarters. "Don't - "
"Just come in," you nudged his shoulder, encouraging him into the room as you shut the doors and drew all curtains to keep your conversation private. You locked the main doors.
"You rearranged?" He noted, stalking around the room; slotting himself between furniture as he silently judged it all.
"Just trying something new, I can't sleep most nights and need something to occupy my mind," you explained, shutting the balcony doors, too. With a sigh, you spun on the spot and implored, "What did you mean, Elrond, when I questioned what you were angry about and said it's you? Please, talk to me. We did not talk about Nenya, and now..." You sighed deeply.
Elrond seemingly remembered he still had the Ring, looking at it in his flat palm with what you could only describe as terror. His eyes lifted to yours, asking, "Do you have a chain?"
With a nod, you ventured to your personal jewelry box and located a glittering braided chain; approaching him to gently drop it in a coiled pile beside Nenya. His hand shook, hating the feeling of the Ring... So, you gently took his hand to steady it and asked, "Tell me what you meant."
Elrond watched you thread the Ring onto the chain. "You're right, thinking my anger is sourced elsewhere... It's not Galadriel, per se - though, I am angry, for varying reasons. But it's me - I'm angry at myself."
"Why?"
"I did not see..."
You lifted the two ends of the chain slowly to his chest, but when he flinched, you reminded, "Galadriel entrusted it to you, nobody else should keep it." He nodded in acceptance, so, you lifted the necklace again, asking, "What didn't you see, Elrond?"
"Halbrand... While in Eregion, making the Rings, he helped Lord Celebrimbor and I, it was... He was there the whole time... So very present, innocent - feigning a King of Men - "
"Halbrand is Sauron."
"He is," Elrond confirmed, "and I did not see it."
"You are angry Sauron the Deceiver deceived you!?" You gaped, hooking the chain and retracting your arms. "Elrond, do you hear yourself? You are victim, none of you knew!"
"But the Rings - they work! You were right!"
"Elrond - "
"It's why I'm angry," he admitted, "because the Rings work, I've seen it, but also because I did not see Sauron for who he was."
"None of us did," you whispered, seeing the struggle behind his eyes.
"I couldn't protect them, either."
"Who?"
"Well, now, none of us - but Lord Celebrimbor and Galadriel specifically; they were with us, with Sauron. I..." He sighed deeply, "I did not see, now we all suffer - "
"We do not suffer, we are fighting back," you cut him off now, his sad eyes finding yours. "And you, our Commander, because you alone feel responsible for our entire salvation. You will lead us, Elrond," his head shook in refusal, making you insist, "no, listen - hear my words. You will lead our people, command legions of Elves, because you have proven strong and determined enough. Since you realized the truth of Sauron, you have fought tooth and nail for the rest of us - even me, you fought me - to see the truth. We have all been blinded, deceived, and now, we all must fight, but trust that the Rings... With the darkness they bring, they must also bring light - it is not just Sauron alone in them, but you all. Which means, in the grandest scheme, all your good overpowers Sauron's bad - proven by the Light of the Valar returning. By Camnir's rescue."
"I fought..." He whispered, reaching for your face - neither of you moving away, wanting the comfort, "At a time my words were needed most. And now, it's too late."
"It's never too late, Elrond, or have you not been paying attention?" You chortled lightly, sighing as you pet over his tunic; manicured nails gently fiddling with Nenya in admiration as it glimmered in the candlelight. "I... Had an idea I want your opinion on. Born of the High King's decision to send he army to Morodor..."
He nodded, stepping closer so his hand fully caressed your cheek and slid to hold the back of your neck. "Speak it," he whispered, "tell your Commander."
You could not repress the shiver of attraction even if you tried. He leered over you, holding you tenderly, close, pressing you closer as his eyes dared you to lose your train of thought. "We seek help... From the Dwarves, from Prince Durin," you whispered, "for they hold Sauron's Rings, they will need our aid in time - we just need theirs first."
"You would have me go above our King?"
"I would have you lead us, Commander."
Elrond smirked slightly, free arm coiling around your waist to hoist you into his embrace. "Something sounds as if you... Like this new position of mine?"
"It suits you - authority, I mean."
"Oh?"
"Being decisive," you listed as Elrond moved forward, walking you backward, "assertive, argumentative... It's a good look."
"Then are you ready to listen to your Commander?"
"At once, sir."
He paused you, lips hovering over yours; demanding of your ears only, "Strip."
"My Lord - "
"Aht," he tutted, pulling back; leaving you cemented in place.
"Commander," you amended, watching him nod subtly. Slowly, your hands lifted to start unlacing your corset; his eyes dark and concentrated, watching each movement you made. Elrond stood with his shoulders squared, hands clasped in front of him, feet spread apart; ensuring you were operating to his level of completion.
"All of it," he told you when down to your small clothes; pausing your venture onto the bed behind you.
So, you stripped those off, too. He nodded in approval, watching you teasingly turn to crawl onto the bed and settle in the middle of the mattress - facing him. Elrond's eyes locked with yours, only straying when your legs slowly spread to reveal your sweetest point for his viewing pleasure. His shoulders heaved upward as he drew in breath, lifting his chin, eyes darting around to note the speckling of honey collecting between your legs.
"Touch yourself," Elrond demanded, reaching for his weapons belt and unhooking it.
"Where, Commander?"
He smirked and simply repeated, "Touch. Yourself. If you can't take direction..."
You didn't question him again, watching him slowly unlatch the belts and hooks of his uniform; deft fingers rubbing through your wetness as others came up to pinch your nipple and roll the bud. Elrond shed his boots, discarding them to the side; tunics yanked from his bare torso, leaving the glittering jewelry around his neck. A moan escaped as you dipped your fingers within your cunt as Elrond ripped his trousers open - then paused. He admired the sight of you splayed out, both hands at work, watching him undress.
In Sindarin, Elrond questioned, "Are we still at odds, my starlight?"
You whined, replying, "If you're not inside me in the next minute, Commander, we will be."
Elrond chuckled and shucked his trousers from his hips, down his thighs, then stepping out of them. "Do you forgive me, my star?"
"Nothing to forgive."
"Don't feed me that," he reprimanded, stepping up to mount the bed; his own hand beginning to fondle his reddening cock, stroking himself to straining life. "I have wronged you and your Commander intends to show he is remorseful. Tell him how."
"Move back in," you pleaded, reaching for him as he allowed himself to hover over you, "and do not leave me - not again."
His breath exhaled against your lips, settling to lay against you while a single leg bent to secure his hips on yours. "Never," Elrond agreed, "but I'll need to hear you say it."
"Is that a command?"
Elrond smirked and lined himself up to notch his cockhead at your cunt's mouth; sinking in as he answered, "Of course, it is." You gasped and slapped a hand up to hold his flushing neck, mouth wide at the familiar sting; public hair grinding together as his balls pinned between you, cock fully sheathed. "You've been given a command, my star," he grunted in your ear, "don't disappoint your Commander now."
Like all Elves, your ears had increased sensitivity; creating a legion of goose flesh to shoot across your flesh. Without breath, you affirmed in his ear, "I-I forgive you - fuck - I forgive you, my love. Don't leave me," you whimpered, "and I forgive you."
"What side do you remain?"
You whined, "Yours, yours, my husband, I remain on your side, Commander."
"And will you obey your Commander?"
"Until the end," you nodded, his lips finally findings yours. A sharp whimper ripped from your lungs as Elrond retracted his hips, thrusting into you at his own set, even pace; lips messily sliding against each other from tongues and spit. "You were gone too long," you managed to whisper.
"We won't be apart that long again," he grit, grunting as he held your thigh in a bruising-grip, "I swear it - "
"You can't - "
"I swear it," he gnashed your bottom lip between his teeth, making you gasp in pain and shock before moaning when he suckled at the mark. Softly, he released your lips, whispering, "I promise, we won't be. We go together from now on."
Nenya dangled between you, tracing around your chest from his aggressive thrusting; you agreeing with a nod, "Together."
"Now," Elrond grunted, "'M not gonna last, pet, gonna need you t'cum with me - together."
"Yes, Commander," you moaned, seeing the way his eyes fluttered; cheeks, neck, and ears blushing bright as his orgasm mounted, trying in vain to hold back. Seeing the almost involuntary reaction your words caused, your hand found Elrond's cheek and directed his eyes to yours, encouraging, "I'm so close, Commander, you make me feel so good, so full, it's been so long - too long! I'm right there, my love, my Commander, please - "
"Ah," Elrond hissed through his teeth, "yes, love, I'm there, too; right there, right there - "
"Cum in me... That's a command, Commander," you demanded in his ear, and it was all that was wrote. Elrond bucked wildly his last few thrusts, pinning you to the mattress; your own orgasm triggered by the flooding of warmth filling your too-empty womb.
"O-Oh," he stuttered, humping into you in languid thrusts before slowing to a shivering halt. You watched Elrond try to regulate his breathing, wrapping your arms around him in an instant to bring him in close; resting him on your chest while your one arm wrapped around him, the other threading into his curls. "I love you," he whispered into your flesh.
"I love you, too," you affirmed. Then, while toying with the sweat-curled ringlets of his hair, you mused softly, "You need a cut."
"You told me for years to grow it out, now you want me to cut it?"
"No, I don't want you to; I just know, you prefer a cleaner crop."
"I've... Grown fond of the look."
You smirked, "That is relieving to hear."
Elrond sighed and slowly lifted off you; only enough to help maneuver you so he didn't have to pullout of your cunt but could still hold you as the big spoon. "So... Prince Durin, is it?" He asked in your ear.
You smirked, "Why not? He is a friend, his father wields a Ring of Power... He would more incentive to help than others. And the Dwarves are formidable in battle, it could help turn the tides, by uniting the Free Peoples of Middle-earth. Elf, Dwarf, Man..."
"What alliance of Men would - "
"We do not speak of Men, we speak of Prince Durin," you reminded him; his face nuzzling into your neck. "I think you should go in person. To plead the severity of our situation, how dire the need for aid is. To convey our desperation."
"The High King - "
"Leave him to me," you insisted, holding his arms around you. "I know we just agreed to not part ways, but you need to parlay with Prince Durin and I will keep Gil-galad at bay. When Durin agrees to march to our aid in Eregion, we march our remaining forces against Adar and meet the Dwarves on the field."
"It sounds good..."
"But?"
"Is it possible?"
"We will have to work in tandem, but I would assume the King would not argue asking for aid. I'll inform him of your departure and intention after you've left."
His arms tightened, "We can speak of it more later. I just want to feel you in my arms - it's been too long."
"You will hear no such complaints from me."
After a moment, where you both spent it resettling and nuzzling into the peaceful silence, Elrond asked, "Do you... Do you think one of the company managed to find and grab my cloak?"
In amusement, you replied, "Oh, I'm sure."
"And that Tinnie would have it?"
"Knowing her, by now, surely," you mused, reaching up to pet his cheek; requesting, "now, I have gone too long without the feeling of you beside me and wish to rest."
"As you command, my love."

Imagine some of the elves of Middle Earth find out how easy it is to make you (a human staying in Rivendell) blush and become aroused.
They’re almost amazed how much their sweet words and light touches affect you. They begin to crave your flushed cheeks, the way your breath speeds up and the smell of your arousal. At first they were territorial and wanted you for themselves but now they know it’s better to work together.
At first they didn’t want to have sex with you, not wanting to spoil the seemingly innocent fun, but when Elrond fingers you and tells of how easy it is to make you cum, they all want to learn more.
Tumblr media
Thranduil loves how submissive and good you are for him. You do whatever he orders and you look so pretty kneeling between his legs.
Glorfindel is amazed at how much your human body can take and how tight you feel around him. At first he worried he’d hurt you, but he hates the look and sound of disappointment when he holds back from you.
Elrond wants to make you cum again and again and again. He doesn’t care for his own pleasure, he just craves the way you cry out and beg him once you become too simulated.
Haldir loves to toy with you. Although he craves the way your pleasure-filled voice sounds moaning his name, it’s the foreplay and the way he can tease you that he loves the most. Sneaking up on you to hear your surprised sounds and then the way your breath catches at his surprising touches.
Legolas is a lot more playful then his fellow elves and loves the sweet noises you make. He loves to bounce you in his lap and listen to your sweet moans and giggles. He will give you whatever you want because he craves your sweet smile and look of admiration. Loves to feel your soft skin and stare at your pleasure-filled face.
Lindir plays you like a fine instrument, spending hours learning how to make you create certain sounds for him. He uses his fingers, mouth and cock so he can hear all of your sweet sounds. He’s not above begging you to be louder or to sing out for him.

listen... i have been thinking a lot about this post:
Tumblr media
i don't know what it is exactly, but something about a frustrated Elrond almost yelling out, still gently, that he'd live for his love instead of dying for it, is very very touching for me.
last night i might have gotten a bit carried away, and i wrote a little something about that. it's my very first shot at writing a fanfic of my own so please bear with me!
it's under the break and on AO3 if anyone wants to read 🫶🏻

In the twilight of Imladris, as the stars began their nightly vigil, you stood on the balcony of Elrond’s chamber, your heart heavy with frustration and hurt. The air was cool and fragrant with the scent of evening blooms, but tonight, the beauty of the valley seemed distant, overshadowed by the turmoil within.
Elrond stood a few paces away, his serene demeanor a stark contrast to the storm that brewed in your soul. The gentle sound of the Bruinen river, usually a source of comfort, now seemed to mock the tension between you.
“Do you truly hold me in such low regard?” you challenged, your voice trembling with emotion. “Am I of such little consequence to you that you can remain unmoved as I bare my soul?”
Elrond’s eyes widened, a flicker of pain crossing his usually composed features. “You misunderstand me,” he began, his voice steady but tinged with sorrow.
“No, I understand all too well,” you interrupted, your words cutting like a sharpened blade. “You, with your timeless wisdom and boundless patience, have already revealed your true feelings. I ask again: would you be willing to lay down your life for me, for all of us, or does fear restrain you?”
For a moment, there was silence, the air thick with the weight of unspoken truths. Then, as if a dam had broken, Elrond’s composure shattered. His eyes filled with unshed tears, his voice rising in desperation. How could you not see? How could you not know that every moment with you was etched into his very soul? He could no longer hold back the torrent of emotions.
“To die for love is simple!” he nearly screamed, his voice carrying the weight of centuries of longing and regret. “A brief surrender of mortal coil to the embrace of eternity,” he added while the soft moonlight cast shadows upon his features, accentuating the lines of sorrow etched upon his noble visage.
“But to live, to truly live, is so much greater! For you, I would live instead of die,” he looked at you, his gaze piercing through your soul, laying bare his raw emotions. You felt the depth of his admission, each syllable heavy with the burden of his unspoken devotion, and the stars above seemed to shine brighter, as if bearing witness to his words.
“Do you not see the love, as brilliant as the leaves of Laurelin, that shines forth from my eyes each time I cast them upon you?” he asked desperately, on the edge of weeping. Elrond’s voice cracked, his eyes brimming with sorrow. “Are you blinded to it?”
Not awaiting your response, Elrond turned his gaze towards the lofty trees, their branches murmuring in the gentle breeze. As the night deepened, Imladris lay shrouded in a serene glow, its gardens veiled in shadows that swayed gently in the flickering dance of firelight and the soft embrace of starlight. The fading remnants of daylight whispered their farewell, surrendering to the celestial canvas unfurling above, adorned with the sparkling jewels of the heavens. The tranquility of the valley belied the weight of its history, a history that Elrond bore witness to through the ages. Memories of battles fought, kingdoms risen and fallen, and the relentless march of time haunted his thoughts.
Torches blazed brightly, casting dancing shadows upon the ancient stone, their fiery tongues licking at the velvety darkness with a fierce determination as Elrond’s mind drifted back to the tumultuous events of the Second Age, a time of great upheaval and sorrow.
“I have seen the glory of Númenor crumble beneath the weight of its own pride. Powerless I have stood as the Last Alliance marched to the very gates of Mordor, and I have borne witness to evils so immense that even the stoutest of our warriors could not withstand them,” he said, desperation building in his voice; his silvery eyes now shone with something you could not decipher. “I have gazed into the eyes of death countless times, her blades twisting within the depths of my wounded heart. So many of my kin have I lost to the ravages of war, their lives laid to rest in pursuit of a noble yet hopeless cause,” he took a step closer, his face now inches away from your own. “It is not the fear of death that prevents me from yielding to its embrace for you, meleth nîn.”
“You awaken within me the very spirit of endurance that Eru bestowed upon his children,” he paused, his gaze turning towards the fire illuminating the terrace. “A spirit that has waned over the long ages of my dwelling, and yet... your mere existence rekindles it.
“In your presence, I find a light that guides me, a reason to embrace each new dawn. My heart, though burdened with the weight of ages, finds solace and renewal in your faintest smile. To live for you is not a burden but a blessing, a path I would tread willingly, every day anew.”
Elrond’s hands delicately encompassed your face, and you felt the gentle pressure of his fingertips, each point of contact a deliberate caress. There was a steadiness to his touch, a silent reassurance as if he sought to convey a message that words alone could not express.
“For you I would find joy in the simple pleasures that weave the intricate tapestry of our days. Through the darkest of hours, I shall cling onto hope, tending to each seedling of kindness as a gardener tends to his beloved blossoms. For you, I would dive willingly into that terrifying inkwell known as existence, with all its uncertainties and fears.”
“I would live for you.”

Sauron has complexes about exactly two (2) beings. Feanor and Luthien. Feanor, the mere elf whose work bested his and drew the eyes of his Maiarin peers (and even his master Morgoth). The elf who, whether he knew it or not, had challenged the mighty Sauron's forging skill and had, whether Sauron could admit it or not, won. Luthien had also challenged him, and left him defeated and humiliated, and had done it all with a kind of disgusted scorn that Sauron could never stop thinking about. She, a half-bred girl, had dared to look at him, most admirable and powerful of Maia, like he'd been a nasty stain on one of her cloaks.
And he's an obsessive perfectionist with an unparalleled ability to hold grudges, so of course he can't let either of those slights go. One of his greatest frustrations is the fact that Luthien has moved beyond the world, out of his grasp– if rumors are to be believed, so has Feanor, sent to the Everlasting darkness. Sauron hates them all the more for being gone, all the more for being out of reach of his anger and vengeance. And that hatred only festers in the long, lonely years of the Second Age, as Sauron bides his time and starts planning his comeback.
And then he walks into Eregion, and what is the first thing he sees? Luthien and Feanor.
He's introduced to Lord Celebrimbor and his cousin, Lord Elrond. He knows who they are of course, but he'd never been told they were such perfect copies of their ancestors. He's told more about them, but he doesn't listen. All he can think is that he finally has a chance to get his revenge.
Luthien and Feanor are back, and this time, Sauron promises himself, he will claim his victory over them.
