Holy fuck I should delete twitter. Unfortunately, the sole reason I still use it is for Broadway news. And I have yet to find a place that matches it. I set up a Bluesky account and would happily move myself over there but nobody is using it.

Please god can there be a mass migration now? Bluesky looks exactly how Twitter used to look. And it's not run by a pathetic incel like Elon Musk.

Okay...okay...so...sososo...you know how Twitter finally made good on revoking all the verified accounts from people who weren't paying the $8/mo asshole tax?

NO!

NO, THEY DIDN'T!

There's no way to automatically remove the verified flag on all the accounts, they would have to have gone account-by-account to remove them individually.

So instead...THEY JUST HID THE CHECKMARK ICON!!

You can still see if an account is legacy verified by putting in the search filter:

filter:verified from:@namehere

Anyone with a legitimate verified account you search for will show up. Anyone with a this-mfer-paid-for-Twitter account won't.

You can say that there's no point in moving sites when putting art on the internet in any way will lead to it being scraped for AI down the line, but moving away from the site that blatantly tells you that staying means you're okay with your art being used for AI learning- to join just about any other site is literally reasonable to me, imo.

I want to leave twitter so much it's unreal but then I remember that despite everything it's still one of the few websites where people actually support artists by sharing and purchasing our art.

There's like... 5 layers of irony in the existence of Genlock season 2. The theme of the Ship of Theseus being prominent in season 1, and later season 2 being transfered to a different company, with writers, artists, and overall staff being replaced entirely to the point where it's not the same show anymore. The hamfisted anti-capitalist ideology that wasn't present in the first season (or at least not in the way s2 presents it), and the fact that season two is what it is because of greedy capitalistic practices. The fact that a plot point was greed and wanting results as quick as possible (also leading to the plot being rushed), and the fact that season 2 was quickly rushed out with only about a week of marketing out of nowhere.

Just... So many things. They may have had an RT supervisor, but a lot of good THAT did.

WELL, just letting you guys know that my Twitter account got suspended for no fucking reason whatsoever - the email i received says I was suspended for "violating our rules against evading suspension" which literally????? clarifyies 0 things about why this has happened. I'm trying to appeal to bring it back, cause I'm pretty sure this is all some stupid bug mistake, so let's see how it goes. Wish me luck!

Light Pollution

I don't recognize the stars anymore.

Terrestrial life is one of changes It rises, it falls, it expands, it shrinks And while the stars are not immutable Their span is on a much longer scale

These lights above me are not the ones So constant and familiar That my two and four-legged ancestors both Could navigate their way back home by them

These lights are not the twinkling diamonds Born from the exhale of a warm sigh That captured the minds and hearts Of scientists and artisans for centuries

Their sparkle is cold, lifeless metal And impersonal binary. Yet these are not the capsules of my grandparents Crafted with hope and fear and passion

In a time when that vast black above Was not prime real estate to be simply colonized But a terrifying unknown to be respected As well as a new frontier to explore

These are cheap trinkets, baubles Manufactured en masse then left to rot A passing whim of a creator Who thinks himself a god of men But who has already grown bored Of his own toys like a child
