reason: Ok he actually canonically deals with social anxiety - I'm not sure if that means he has social anxiety disorder, but I'm pretty sure it does? or not idk. But that parts canon. He is EXTREMELY self conscious and almost completely incapable of talking to people without getting nervous, due to this he has 0 friends, he just gets freaked out in every social context pretty much. Like, another person - exists? That instantly triggers his anxiety. Oof. Same though. He talks to plants instead. Ok now onto the autism part. First of all, again he is really bad with people and generally social situations. And since we don't know if there's a specific cause for it or not I'll assume he's just always been this way. Also like I said he talks to plants - flowers specifically - he genuinely treats them with so much care, he's extremely passionate about flowers in general which can be presumed to be a special interest. I also think he potentially deals with selective mutism though I'm not entirely sure. He's shy, reserved, isn't good with people, but he connects quickly with Milly who I also think is neurodivergent coded. He's canonically bullied by people like drew (as briefly shown in the background of Milly's song) further painting him as an outcast/misfit. I also think his connection with flowers has to do w the fact that for him, they're easier to connect with - there aren't the complexities of human interactions, and they can't verbally judge them, so he can say anything he wants to them. He overthibks about every little thing'. He is also really pleased when he meets Faye and Dom, two characters who are VERY obvious and passionate and proud about their interests, and get really excited when talking about them - (for Faye it's spiders, for Dom it's ... I forgor but some tupe of animal), and these obsessions could very easily be read as hyperfixations, and they could be neurodivergent which is also potentially why Elliot comes to like them. He despises being in the center of attention. He has an Instagram account where he occasionally posts pictures of flowers n butterflies n whatnot and he's only had one like - from his mom. This isn't rly autism related but besides flowers he also talks to himself out loud a lot which gets him into embarrassing situations. Uhm there's more I think but that's all I have for now!!!
