Comments: I loved everything about this. Car trips across England, great music, enemies to friends to lovers, and a slow slow burn. Although, it’s not slow if you can read it fast enough.

Summary: Some people think concepts like fate and destiny are romantic, but for Harry Potter, fate has always meant one thing: a swift kick in the arse. Why else would he cross an ocean to New York and enroll in Muggle university only to find Draco Malfoy living two doors down the hall? The universe and its twisted sense of humor can fuck right off. A story in which two broken boys try to repair themselves halfway across the world. Too bad trauma doesn't care how far you run.

Comments: This is the very first fic I’ve ever read as it was posted. I have always purposefully stayed away, because I wasn’t sure I could handle the wait, thought I would fall out of the story. I was so wrong! I finally caved and started this one when half of it was posted and proceeded to comment on every new chapter because it was just that good. I eagerly awaited every Monday and Thursday for new chapters and it was the first thing I would think about when I woke up (seriously). The author writes some of the absolute best OCs, does such a great job describing the places (mainly NYC and Paris) that they end up feeling like characters, and portrays the beauty and necessity of therapy for our precious, broken boys. Also, this version of Draco is one of my all time favorites. I could keep gushing about this one, but you should just read it for yourself.

Comments: Who doesn’t love a good 8th year fic? This one is fantastic and includes so many great things: cuddling, accepting and supportive friends (Dean is a peach in this one), miscommunication, mutual pining, and of course, loads of fucking tea.

Comments: Alright, hear me out. Yes, this fic has BDSM. If you’ve seen my other rec lists, you’ll know BDSM is not for me. But I saw in a rec list by @lettersbyelise that she felt the same and gave it a shot anyway since she is friends with the author and she was so glad she did. She wasn’t wrong! I am beyond happy that I gave this one a shot, and it’s actually a new all time fave! Hands down the best BDSM I’ve ever read. It’s just so damn good. Plus, it’s a slow burn because (in the author’s own words) slow burn is life.

Summary:  Six weeks ago, Auror Potter and Auror Malfoy were separated. No longer partners. No longer friends - not properly, not when they're blaming each other for the split. It's not 'til the Ministry's New Year's Eve Party, while Harry's waiting worriedly for Draco to return from his last job, that it's suggested there might have been a very particular reason for their separation. And it's not what Harry thought it was.

OMG you guys! After an exchange in the comments section of a fic by Elle, she decided to write me a fic and I suggested New Year’s Eve as a theme, and here it is, and it’s FANTASTIC! Knowing her writing, I expected something wonderfully written, but I hadn’t anticipated the depth of feels I was going to get. 

It starts after Harry and Draco had been split from their Auror partnership, and Harry’s pining something awful, standing there feeling sorry for himself at the NYE party at the Ministry and worried about Draco, who’s out on a mission.

I loved seeing how they both wanted each other so much and for so long, and how they finally acted on those impulses, due to Draco’s death scare and to Harry’s seeing things from a new perspective after a talk with his current partner. I’m one of those people who love New Year’s Eve (and Day) and the implication of starting fresh. It’s a day of hope for me, a day of change and reflection and intention (even if I let myself down eventually, that doesn’t take away from the dreams and plans I’ve made at the start of the year), and I loved how H/D getting together here fits so well with the theme of starting anew. I adored especially the ending and the countdown *wink wink* 

Omg I’m rambling and I’m sorry. What you need to know is this: this fic is excellent! It has a great Harry voice laced with humour; his internal monologue brimming with his unbearable pining for Draco will make you ache; Draco’s conflicted emotions make him so real and heartbreaking; the wild thrill of relief and joy when they finally admit their feelings will sweep you away; the sex is deliciously hot; and on top of it all, the dialogue is sharp (I’m such a sucker for good dialogue you’ve no idea) with A+ banter and snarkiness. Such great characterisations, and a wonderfully tense, feelsy fic:

i’m looking for a drarry fic i read a while ago. it’s a kinky one. i think it was 8th year drarry and harry was exploring his sexuality and he was with anthony goldstein and goldstein spread a bunch of rumors about potter liking some kinky stuff. i don’t remember the name of the kinky stuff??? but fast forward to draco and harry hooking up, maybe in a classroom or the prefects bathroom? and the rumors turn out to be true. i’m sorry there’s not much to go off of! i’m desperate to find this fic
