I’m forever obsessed with old Barbie movies, one of the best childhood memories! 😩💘 And Barbie Fairytopia: Mermaidia was one of them! 💖 I remember how little me was having some beef with the movie because I was upset that they didn't give Elina both tail and wings…

So, since it's MerMay, I knew I had to draw Elina and Nori!

I rewatched the Barbie Fairytopia movies, I've always been in love with fairy tales! I like Hue's character, I like the serious and tough look he has <3

He and Elina have a nice dynamic, he's kind and respectful :))

So to quickly explain, this was my original plan for Frans week, to make a mini comic for each prompt. But I found myself too busy to do more than one sketch for day 1 which is why I did what ended up doing, a small drawing for each day (which I still missed like half of them).

I couldn't bother to fully line and colour it but I think it's cute and I still need to work on colouring the next pages of TWFOA, so I hope this tides ya over 'til then.

A fairy who used to be a mermaid

✨Confession time✨ I don't like the way Elina looks by the end of Mermaidia :') So the logical thing to do was draw her XD

Well what I mean is I wanted to do a bit of a redesign inspired by her doll. I only recently noticed that her skirt is supposed to be like a jellyfish, and thought it would be somethig cool to remind her she was a mermaid at some point. Also kept her pearl necklace cause all this pink needed a touch of blue.
