There are nearly a two hundred first years to be Sorted tonight.

James Potter, eleven years old and all of four feet tall, stands next to Sirius Black,nearly vibrating out of his own skin with impatience. Seven students with surnames beginning from A have already been Sorted, and Sirius' name still has not come up yet.

"You're worked up," Sirius mutters to him, a faint smirk on his lips and silver eyes glinting with amusement, and James grins sheepishly. Sirius grins, and says with full confidence, "relax mate, you'll get Gryffindor like your father."

James is not so sure.

His father was a Gryffindor, yes, but James knows himself, as well as any eleven year old knows themself. He is much more like his mother than he is like his Baba. His mother: Olympic Duelling Champion and a celebrated War Mage from India, who fought tooth and claw to get where she is now. James was no different— he has his ambitions laid out and he knows exactly how to achieve them. Professional Quidditch is desperately waiting for talent like his, and he is desperately waiting to be old enough to participate in the World Cup.

No, James might want Gryffindor, but he is pretty sure he would end up in Slytherin.

He does not mind it, and there are two reasons for this.

One; Aai always says to follow his ambition, to work hard for what he wants, to go after his desires with everything he has. Slytherin is simply that. A House that encourages ambition and determination and success— and James wants to succeed.

Two; there is a very high chance Sirius will be in Slytherin. Sure, he only met the other boy today, but something about Sirius is so delightfully familiar that James knows that he would do everything to have that boy in his life. If that means he has to follow him into Slytherin, so be it.

Sirius, being a Black, being practically royalty, being the scion of a family that has been in Slytherin since time immemorial, is a guaranteed shoo-in for the House of Serpents. James expects the Hat to shout SLYTHERIN even before it properly touches his head, just like it did for Augustus Avery.

Except.

Except.

Sirius Black saunters forward with his head held high, sits on the stool with more elegance in his pinky than is in James' entire body, and the Hat... does not speak.

It sits there, silent and covering everything except Sirius' lips. James stares, expectant, just like the rest of the school, and Sirius sits as still as a marble statue and the Hat says absolutely nothing.

Ten seconds.

Half a minute. James tilts his head to the side and narrows his eyes.

One minute.

Two minutes. The Hall is now echoing with speculative murmuring from the student body, and James sees Narcissa Black, fifth year prefect, lean forward and pin her younger cousin with an intense stare. The Hat still says nothing.

Three minutes. The murmurs are louder now, and James can hear individual words here and there, talking about the Black Heir, about Slytherin expectations, Sirius Black, perhaps a Hat Stall.

Four minutes.

Four minutes and twenty seconds.

Four minutes and forty seconds.

Just shy of five minutes, and the Hat finally opens its mouth— wide, wider and widest. The opening of the jagged rip seems to take an eternity, but the announcement finally rings out,

GRYFFINDOR!

The Hall falls silent.

James' ears ring with the sudden silence, but he does not stop staring as Sirius removes the Hat from his head, lowers his head in respect towards Professor McGonagall, and saunters towards the Gryffindor Table, as nonchalant as you please. The stares of the rest of the student body do not seem to bother him. He simply lowers himself into an empty seat in a fluid motion and sits with hos back straight, an expression of polite interest on his face as McGonagall calls for the next student.

James turns back to the Sorting, and watches uncomprehending as the rest of the students fly by.

When his name is called, he strides forward and plops the Hat onto his head, and before the thing can even say anything, starts chanting in his head.

Gryffindor, Gryffindor, Gryffindor, I want to be in Gryffindor.

Dear Morrigan, child—

Gryffindor Gryffindor Gryffindor Gryffindor, I want Gryffindor, Gryffindor—

Slytherin is a better choice—

I. Want. Gryffindor.

Wanting to be in the same house as your new friend is a stupid idea—

"See?" Sirius says, grinning, "I told you you'd follow your father's footsteps."

James simply smiles.

I am so sorry I took so long but they’re finally here! I really hope everyone likes them. If you want me to write headcanons for another character, you can but please understand they probably won’t come right away. Ideas just don’t always come to mind that easily. I’m already writing headcanons for Sally so stay tuned for that. I’m actually thinking of writing headcanons for Johnny Bolton so let me know if you want that. Anyways, enjoy and have a lovely day!

🥻Before she became a Downer, Victoria had the delusion that her mother was never imprisoned and was currently having a lovely time in India. She does speak of India from time to time and expresses the desire to visit, but thinking of it brings up painful memories. Partially at the behest of her father, she takes an huge amount of Joy to keep them away.

☎️She has lots of friends but is not particularly close to any of them. This is due to both her tendency to be a workaholic and the general shallowness of relationships between Wellies. This is the reason why she did not realize the full extent of Prudence's feelings toward her. Victoria liked Prudence a lot, believing her to be very talented but sadly, their bond was severed when Victoria told Prudence she suspected her of being a Downer. Shortly thereafter, Prudence vanished. After the events of We All Fall Down, I think Victoria would be very sad to hear of Prudence's demise. She's another name in the list of people whose lives were destroyed by Joy and Vicky holds a lot of guilt. Her role in Prudence's death makes it even sadder. I think they would have been good friends or even lovers.

📦Her home used to have artwork, books and memorabilia from India. She loved them but when she looked at them, they made her sad to the point where she started crying. She told her father about this and he gave her tea laced with Joy. He then hired someone to come into her home and take all of the things related to India.

📚Victoria sometimes hosts book club and women's club meetings at her home. Uncle Jack's three books about the war were the subject of some of the meetings. Looking back at this, Downer!Victoria, being a lover of history, would disparage the books as being terribly written and dull.

🤬Unlike the other potty-mouthed protagonists of We Happy Few, Victoria very rarely swears. Both of her parents, especially her aristocratic mother, made it a priority to install grace and elegance in their daughter. It takes an extreme amount of stress (and anger) to make Victoria swear as seen in the cutscene when Ollie forces her off Joy. Also, if Downer!Victoria ever swore, she would hear her mother curtly admonishing her so she refrains from it.

🪅Victoria's favorite Uncle Jack segments are Funny Old Customs and Famous Britons since she likes history albiet the sanitized version of history shown to Wellies. So unsurpisingly it was her idea to bring the piñata on the day Arthur went Downer. But of course since everyone is on Joy and have no idea they're just watching reruns, many many other piñatas have probably been smashed before the one we saw.

🧳In her post-Wellington Wells, I like to think that Vicky got involved in politics in some way or another. She of course has many regrets but her leadership skills would not fade. Also, she was probably a key witness of what happened in Wellington Wells and has written books and given interviews about it. Most survivors prefer to live as if it never happened.

Prediction time!

It's Miss Universe season again, so here I am, keeping up with the tradition I started during last year's edition of this prestigious pageant.

Please note that this list is only based on the preliminary swimsuit and evening gown competitions since we don't have access to the interviews.

I had a hard time with this list 'coz I kept on switching names. And that's because... this was quite a boring set of candidates. There were only a handful who really gave a performance that made me smile, and most of the others were pretty much on the same level.

South Africa • Nicaragua • Puerto Rico • Philippines • India

Here's the first five. I'm not saying they're my predicted Top 5, but after watching the preliminaries, I think these women all deserve to be called in the finals.

Puerto Rico and Nicaragua... they wore ordinary and usual gowns but they SLAYED—even during the swimsuit segment. Just look at how beautiful they are.

Philippines. No bias here. She has this edgy, elegant vibe about her that only she can project and it's so beautiful to witness. When everyone is trying to fit themselves into the mold of a Miss Universe winner, MMD just let her own authenticity shine.

India and South Africa. They didn't disappoint me, and knowing how these countries prepare their delegates and choose those who CAN ACTUALLY SPEAK, I would be shocked if they're not in the finals.

This next group also did really well, but not as spectacular as those I've chosen above 'coz the nit-picky side of me found something off about them.

These candidates didn't do anything wrong—two or three of them actually gave good performances. Unfortunately, gut feels somehow tell me there's a chance they may not make it through to the finals. Someone here may be this year's El Tocuyo Queen.

This is more of a wishlist rather than a prediction. There's something about these girls that made me smile when they walked on the stage. But... I have huge doubts about them being called into the Top 20.

Thus, unicorns have been appearing in works of literature for thousands of years, although it is now thought by many scholars that this case of unicorns appearing in the bible may have been a translation error.

The most prominent more modern examples of unicorns that can be found in fantasy literature include Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis. Not only that, but the whole immensely popular My Little Pony franchise is also based on unicorns, with the series beginning in the 1980s and being revived a few decades later.
