Electric Version, The New Pornographers (2003)
Arguably Electric Version is both tighter than the New Pornographers’ debut Mass Romantic and has melodies that spiral wilder and more gloriously.
Pick: ‘Testament to You in Verse’

portrait of ross in la?
Oh, I do not feel comfortable rating this one or searching for any eroticism in it.
This is a piece of art inspired by the death of Ross Laycock, the lover of artist Felix Gonzalez Torres, during the AIDS crisis.
Ideally this piece is 175lbs of candy (corresponding to an average body weight of an adult man). Throughout the day, pieces are taken and taken. Like Ross, it wastes away, and viewers are left with the anticipation of loss.
This piece genuinely makes me feel like my heart has been ripped from my chest. I want to wail with grief when I think about it too long.
Instead of a review, I humbly offer up, for your elucidation and viewing pleasure, relevant works.
Check out the others works of Felix Gonzalez Torres, they're very moving.
Electric Fan (Feel It Motherfuckers): Only Unclaimed Item from the Stephen Earabino Estate by John S. Boskovich, a thematically similar piece of art. It also brings me to tears when I see it.
Let the Record Show by Sarah Schulman, which is based on...
The ACT UP Oral History Project, a project that seeks to preserve the history of the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power and their activism through the AIDS Crisis.
United in Anger a film by Jim Hubbard, a documentary on ACT UP
If plays or films are more your style, I recommend Angels in America by Tony Kushner. My favorite version is the 2003 TV series from HBO. It stars Justin Kirk, and it is genuinely uplifting and gut wrenching all at once.
If anyone else has pieces of art they suggest, please, feel free to reblog with them! I think art is one of the best ways sometimes to engage with historical atrocities like this. Whether that art is fictionalized or factual, it connects us like nothing else.
Let yourself learn about this and let yourself feel things about this.
#AIDS crisis#tagging that for people's filters because i understand this is a fraught subject for so many#Unreviewed#Felix Gonzalez Torres#art review

( INFORMATION AND EXAMPLES OF EACH GENRE UNDER CUT )
PROGRESSIVE ROCK !
Artists: Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Genesis, ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)
Most popular Era: Early - Mid 70s
Basic definition: Prog rock is known for its classical influences and lengthy, complicated compositions. Originating in the early 70s, the genre would take the world by storm when bands like King Crimson and Pink Floyd rose to prominence. Prog rock is usually associated with experimental rock, and whilst there is some overlap, experimental rock aims to ignore traditional rock structures as a whole, whilst prog simply tries to rearrange them.
Song examples:
POWER POP !
Artists: Blondie, Cheap Trick, Big Star, The Romantics, The Knack, Nikki and the Corvettes
Most popular Era: Late 70s - 80s
Basic definition: A crossover of rock and pop, power rock is the more aggressive predecessor of pop rock. Known for its catchy hooks and upbeat tempos, power pop paved the way for timeless classics such as "What I Like About You" by The Romantics and "Hanging on the Telephone" by Blondie. The genre was most popular around the late 70s to 80s, and would go on to influence many bands to this day.

The theory of "The Hidden Morse Messages"
These people have done a unique work. They discovered and deciphered The Hidden Morse Messages.
@theastrophysicistnextdoor
Here's my theory "The Hidden Morse Messages."
1 SHE’S IN MA PHONE (or He's) Ma phone is an outdated name for a magnetophone. During World War 2, german engineers developed a device for recording sound on magnetic tape.
Crowley uses such a device and even gets inside - into it magnetic field. Together with Hastur. And we know that you can get stuck there, just like Hastur got stuck. Who exactly is this "She" or "He" who is in the "ma phone", I do not know yet. Perhaps the "dreadful eternity" itself.
2 HAVE A DREADFUL ETERNITY
- it is said to someone who is stuck in this "dreadful eternity"
- it is said about some eternity that has become dreadful, because it has become closed perhaps. (It's a little difficult, I know).
3 TOMMY’S A LEGEND I think we're talking about Tommy Westphall here. And about Tommy Westphall universe hypothesis.
In short, there is a kind of crossover of all (or many) shows /series in the consciousness of Tommy Westphall. A little more: In a 2003 article published on BBC News Online, St. Elsewhere writer Tom Fontana was quoted as saying "Someone did the math once… and something like 90 percent of all [American] television took place in Tommy Westphall's mind. God love him."[9] (link 2) When directing episodes for the eighth series of the revived Doctor Who in 2014, Ben Wheatley had the art department create a replica of Tommy Westphall's snowglobe, which Wheatley placed in the TARDIS set as a reference to the hypothesis.[11] (link 2)
4 PAUL’S OUR MIXING HERO Re-recording mixer Paul McFadden. He was actively involved in the creation of a huge of TV series. This man literally lives in the universe of a TV show. (Tommy Westphall universe).
He was not only a sound engineer, but also a dialogue editor. I wouldn't be surprised if he is the co-creator of this magic (secret dialogues and hidden hints).
5 HEAVEN LOOKS DOWN ON YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE PATHETIC ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE CHEER UP IT’S ONLY ETERNAL DAMNATION DO NOT LICK THE WALLS
Here is one of my generalizing theories of Morse messages. We are really stuck in the universe of Good Omens, like a hellish web. This universe is full of references to literature, music, series and movies. In addition, a large of dialogues in the series are written in such a way that you can read between the lines and find new meanings. We literally "lick the walls." That is, we examine every pixel on every damn frame. Heaven (the creators) suggests that we give up all hope of saving our long-suffering souls. But they cheer us up - it's a sweet eternal damnation. Heaven looks down on us because we will never be able to find all the hidden meanings.
In this post: 20% jokes 5% sarcasm 20% pathos 100% love and admiration for the creators of Good Omens 40% hope to find another meaning of these secret messages 15% of the fatigue from Googling.
p.s. I'm going to formulate a more complex theory, good luck to me

TMayNT Day 25: Your Turtlesona
Day 25 of @tmaynt Prompt: Your Turtlesona!
*breaths in deeply*
I think you fuckers know exactly what and who I'm about to gush over for a bit! Let 's do this shit! XD
So for those that are new to me and my content, Hi! And I'm not sorry for the lore dump I'm about to bash you over the head with! For those of you that ARE aware of me, heyyyy! I'm gunna hit you over the head with my lore once again!
This is Sasha The Cheetah!
I guess you could call her a "Turtlesona", but I don't really see her as an extension of myself, so she's really just a Fan Character! One of the first ones I've ever made actually. If you wanna know more about her and her other versions (She has 11 for fuck sake!) I'll link her very own in depth post, along with the posts I made for Fortnite and Mutant Mayhem Specifically as well, since they came along later. The major Sasha Post, Mutant Mayhem, and Fortnite!
2003 Sasha (The one in front with the pointy crystal on her neck), was the first version I ever made. She started out VERY different then what she now, and when the Turtles Forever movie came out, that's when I started playing with the idea of more versions of her. And Well...you see where that led me!
Each version, while the same character, all have their own distinct personalities and goals. Their relationships with the turtles even differ in a few versions. Even their Backstories differ a lot, as in some, she's a mutated Cheetah, others she's a human turned into s mutant! Their powers and abilities are also vastly different from version to version! In some she has power over electricity and wind, others she's a healer, some only have the ability to cast magic, in some they have no powers what so ever, and in one in particular, SHE A LITERAL FUCKING GOD!
The core similarities tho at the heart of each one are:
She is a Cheetah. (Of some variant.)
She has a strong bond with Donnie. (Be that romantic or otherwise.)
Cares deeply for their motivations in life.
And with each version, I do my best to convey which version of the TMNT through how they are drawn! Now, of course, some of my own style will peek through in each one. But I do my best to make it easy to tell which Sasha goes with which set of turtles. And I've done my best to make each version fit with the lore and story that their version of the TMNT goes by. (In some cases not enough is known, so I'll play with it a bit in those cases.)I've even thought about Voices for each one, currently still working on that post. (It's a monster of a post, but I'm hoping it will be worth it.)
I could keep going for hours, but. I don't wanna waste more of your time then I already have! Thank you for your time! And I hope you like my cheeb baby! She's my pride and joy, and i hope you at least found her interesting! (And if you checked out her other posts, uhhhh, let me know what you think. you know....if you want. X3)

👉👈 can I get some head-cannons on how 1987 and 2003 Casey would act as dads to his and the readers kid…….i have to imagine ‘87 Casey would be an interesting parental figure……not a bad one just very…..very interesting
Very interesting indeed...
03' & 87' Casey Jones x reader
Warnings none:
Fluff
2003 Casey:
Will cal the child squirt, tiny, chump, and/or kiddo
It all just depends on his mood.
If the kid is a girl he'll definitely call her princess or little darling and if they're a boy he'll call him little man, or buff little man.
He will love the crap out of your kids, dude is honestly so happy to be a dad.
When he first married you he wanted kids but he was also pretty scared and wasn't sure he was ready.
When it finally happened though?
He was so happy.
Just picture this man laying in the bed with your new born in his hands while they moved their little hands around without any real reason.
He would have literal stars in his eyes.
Dude would probably start taking his baseball bat with him every time he left the house.
Ain't no way he's going out with his kids without proper protection in New York of all places.
He would have a blast teaching the kids about hockey and if they were genuinely interested hockey games would become their biggest bonding moments.
Bro is honestly just a really fun dad.
Any game the kids play with him he will be 100% into it.
Doesn't matter what role he's playing he will literally destroy your house if your kids say it's what his character would do.
In short you had to tell the kids (and your fully grown adult husband) that real weapons were not, infact, toys and to stop stabbing your furniture.
You almost blew a gasket when you walked in the room to see Casey rip one of your couch pillows in half.
Yeeeeeah...
He won't be doing that again.
Also, ice cream trips are a staple in your house.
the kids want iced cream?? Why not!
Honestly he wants ice cream just as much as them.
If you say no he will join in with the kids and either try to get you to say yes or just try and convince you with puppy dog eyes.
when you kids hit the rebellious teen phase he will wil feel so much internal conflict.
On the one hand what they are doing is extremely dangerous, irresponsible, and/or disrespectful and it's infuriating.
But on the other... He also did those things at their age.
...
BUT HE WASN'T AS BAD (this is true. He was worse)
He is still happy with their teenage stage though.
The proud dad moments will be golden.
I feel like your guys kids would gravitate towards certain turtle uncles.
They would just click more with one than the other and he's happy to see his kids still having a connection with his old friends.
Mikey will complain to him often though if none of your kids pick him as their favorite uncle.
Overall, Casey is a top tier dad.
1987 Casey:
This dude is an entire basket case.
Not to say he isn't a good dad! He is.
You just have to thoroughly explain child safety and proper emotional reactions.
Examples would be, "You can't let our kid beat up their teacher for giving them an unfair grade" or "you can't hand a toddler a golf club to swing around the house" or "Sticking a fork in an electrical outlet will electrocute them"
Once you show him how to legally and safely go about certain situations, there actually aren't many problems!
He is very strict on what he believes to be right and wrong.
While his methods may be a tad counterproductive he means well and he will do everything in his power to mold your kids into well mannered law abiding citizens.
And in case you were wondering, he sees the whole beating up the teacher thing as the teacher lying on an official government document sooooooo.
In any case he's doing his best.
Casey doesn't really spend much time around the turtles in this version so their less like uncles to your kids and more just, "People dad knows".
If your kids show an interest in the turtles though, he will make a point to hang around more often.
When it comes to his mask Casey likes to leave it on.
It makes him feel prepared for any potential danger and he honestly doesn't feel fully dressed without it.
9 times out of 10 though, if your kids ask him to take it off he will.
He just loves them so much, and as paranoid as he can be he still wants his kids to know their fathers real face.
When it comes to raising your kids he is usually the one dishing out punishments. Not because you don't, he's just quicker at it.
He understands your kids are learning the ins and outs of life and he wants to make sure they know the consequences of their actions so they're prepared when they go out into the real world.
That being said he is also very fair.
If your kid didn't know something was wrong he won't punish them.
He'll just tell them why it was wrong and not to do it again. If they do it after that? Then they get time-out.
Like 2003 Casey, he is also very playful and loves playing games with the kids.
He will run with them around the house, dress up in costumes, do weird voices and all that jazz.
It's so cute honestly. This big buff dude in a hockey mask who prides himself in his strength and ruthless attitude towards "evil doers" will also have the most legitimate tea party while your kids call him Mrs. Whittlebottom.
With the way you both go about raising your kids it seems unlikely, to me, that they would become rebellious teens.
However if that were to happen Casey would be at a complete loss.
Casey has never felt tied down by the rules or "the man" as long as they kept the peoples best interest at heart.
Don't steal things, don't break others property, don't sell harmful substances.
It all made perfect sense to him.
When people follow the rules they are happy and safe and peaceful.
People don't get hurt and they are able to do what they love.
So when your children express feeling trapped by the rules of the house or call the punishment they get by breaking them "unfair" he is straight up confused.
Like, what do you mean its unfair that your growned for seeking out?! You know it's against the rules and you could have gotten hurt! WTF???
This could potentially cause a lot of tension between Casey and your kids but at the end of the day they still love each other.
It just might take some time for them to properly understand the other.
For everyone's sake though, let's not bet on your kids hitting the rebellious phase.
Also, your kids may or may not pick up some of his weird mannerisms such as calling criminals "evil doers" or hunting down literally anyone in the name of justice.
Yeah, it really doesn't help he raises them on super hero shows.
All in all, very dedicated husband and father. Will literally die for his family.

Happy Birthday to Eddi Reader.
Eddi, born born Sadenia Reader on August 29th in 1959, has been around several blocks, musically speaking. A native of Glasgow, she has been well known and loved here for years. Oddly enough, Reader jumped right into her performing career in the early ‘80s by travelling throughout Europe with a circus troupe. Shortly after, she decided to settle in London and become a session vocalist.
Her choice proved fruitful as her book soon filled up and she landed work with the Eurythmics, the Waterboys, and Gang of Four. None seemed like the right setting for Reader. Then she found her place in the spotlight with Fairground Attraction. The band’s debut, First of a Million Kisses, hit the British charts in 1988, along with the single “Perfect.” Reader gained a good bit of recognition, both critical and popular, and was able to launch her solo career from that platform, although it did not happen immediately.
Her solo debut, Mirmama, saw daylight in 1992 and found Reader’s lovely pipes wrapped around some fine tunes. Although it was a limited release, it caught the ear of the folks at Warner Brothers, who followed it in 1994 with her self-titled album. This second effort included more Reader originals amid the slick production.
Despite touring in its support, she still managed to contribute to recordings by Thomas Dolby, Liberty Horses, and others. When things didn’t pan out with her major label, Reader returned to her independent roots and issued Candyfloss and Medicine in 1996 and Angels & Electricity in 1999, all the while perfecting her brand of smooth acoustic folk-pop.
Finding herself with yet another musical home, Compass Records re-released both Mirmama and Angels & Electricity in the United States and allowed Reader the chance to put forth her most organic offering to date with Simple Soul in 2001. Seventeen Stories: The Best of Eddi Reader and the all-new Driftwood arrived in 2002, followed by Eddi Reader and my personal favourite, Sings the Songs of Robert Burns in 2003 and Peacetime in 2007.
2008 sawEddi make a foray into film with an appearance in Me and Orson Wells, the following year she commemorated the 250th anniversary of Burn’s birth with a deluxe version of his songs with additional songs to add to the original. That same year she also put out new music in the form of her ninth studio album, Love is the Way.
Save for a live record, which appeared in 2010 Eddi took a long break from the recording studios, returning in 2014 with Vagabond. There was only a slightly lesser gap between albums with her 12th studio record appearing in 2018, Cavalier, which was recorded in Glasgow.
In 2020 Eddi celebrated 40 years in the music business with a UK wide tour that included 10 Scottish shows, that was before the Covid virus came calling, the shows had been rescheduled twice. The album Light Is in the Horizon followed, her 12th studio piece.
In 2024, the band's original line-up announced a Japan and UK tour, and reunited for an album titled "Beautiful Happening", set for release on September 20th 2024. A first single, "What's Wrong With The World ?", was released in February, followed by the album's title track in June.
Eddi is back to touring with her solo band and has a gig on Hayling Island off the south coast of England, in December a seven date tour of Ireland follows in 2025, then ten gigs in England.
Don't worry she hasn't forgotten her homeland, look out for Phil Cunningham’s Christmas Songbook, where Eddi will join the former Silly Wizard musician in ten Festive concerts around Scotland between December 12th and 22nd.
I've chosen a gaelic song that Eddi performed, it's called Buain Ná Rainich (Fairy Love Song) and is from her 11th album Vagabond.
The other well-known title, Tha mi Sgìthh, there are many variations of the story relating to this song, but one version says that the song was originally sung by a fairy who caught sight of a beautiful girl when he was cutting bracken. They fell in love, but alas there was no fairytale ending. When her family learned of the love, they stopped the girl from seeing the fairy and they locked her away. His song mourns the situation. The tune of this song is very old and it is often used as a lullaby. In Cape Breton though, it is often used as a Puirt à beul!

okay not to go cringe on main but the final episode of the 2003 series truly is an absolute and unmitigated masterpiece of storytelling. the constant back-and-forth between the past timelines, where Tobio and Atom both rejected Tenma’s twisted version of love with the exact same words, and the present, where Tenma and Atom have their last on-screen interaction??? the seamless transition of Atom riding in the elevator to meet Tenma in the lab, only to end in a cut back to Tobio and Tenma stepping out of that exact same elevator in the past??? that flashback where Tenma is clutching Tobio’s body, sobbing hysterically in the middle of the street??? when Atom says “you never loved anyone, you never loved me at all”??? when Ochan is fighting like hell to get into the Ministry and when Tawashi tries to stop him, he says “my son is in there”???? all those flashbacks to the previous episodes as a big Nostalgic Gut-Punch, reminding you just how far Atom has come, and how much he has grown up over the course of the series???? Tenma’s desperate attempts to manipulate Atom and win him back over to his side??? Tenma’s quiet resignation when Atom refuses him??? Atom’s refusal to leave Tenma behind in the Ministry????
the Hug™️ between Atom and Tenma??? how Tenma freezes for such a long second that you think he isn’t going to react at all??? how he lets out the exact same anguished sob that he did when he saw Tobio’s body in the road?? how Atom calls him “father”??? Atom’s choice to forgive, and forgive, and forgive???? when Tenma finally refers to Atom by his true name instead of the name he tried to give him??? when Tenma gently pushes Atom toward Ochanomizu and says “he’s a good father, and I am not”?? when Tenma sits in his prison cell and looks at the pictures of Atom and Tobio side-by-side, because he has accepted Atom as his own person now, and he truly understands and regrets his actions??? when Ochan finally declares equal rights for robots, and all the various humans hugging and congratulating the robots around them, giving them gifts and thanking them for their services??? how Atom watches silently from the shadows, thinking about all the robots who were hurt or killed in the long and painful fight??? the palpable relief that the fight is over now??? the final shot of Atom sitting on the rooftop, staring out over the city???? god i’m gonna go chew some electrical wires!!!!
#i don't talk about the '03 version too much on here but MY GOD that finale was the literal peak of television!!!#astro boy#astro boy 2003#tetsuwan atom#mighty atom#text#onward and queueward

100 Albums To Understand Muse - Part 8 [STYLE Series #004 - Muse (August 2010)]
MEW Frengers (2003) World debut of the Danish band, boasting melancholic melodies, the transparent high tone voice of Jonas Biele and guitars that, like Muse, grew up on The Smashing Pumpkins and the Pixies. Their latest release, 'No More Stories…….' succeeds in building a dynamic world with a more progressive experimental spirit. -S
MILES DAVIS Pangaea (1975) A masterpiece of the so-called ‘electric period’ of the 1970s. If you think it's ‘jazz’, you'll be surprised. Basically, the cool and sophisticated worldview of this album is the opposite of that of the passionate Muse, but I think there are similarities in the ‘once in a lifetime’ energy that pervades the band's live performances. -M
MONIQUE HAAS Debussy : Suite Bergamasque / Deux Arabesques / Children's Corner (1995) Debussy is a composer that all piano players have a keen interest in. The images that emerge from his poetic melodies are simple, yet they have an impressionistic intensity that leaves a strong impression on the listener's heart. He is also one of Matthew's favourite composers. Enjoy the limpid sound with no ill effects. -M
MY BLOODY VALENTINE Loveless (1991) The second album from MBV, led by roaring guitar master Kevin Shields, and a milestone in shoegaze, still influencing everything from acoustic to neo-shoegaze. Whispering vocals float gently between walls of dissonant, layered guitar noise. It will leave the listener in a trance and lead them into a dreamlike world. -I
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE The Black Parade (2006) US alternative punk band that recognises a variety of influences from Queen to punk. The band made their breakthrough in Japan with this album. Muse toured the US with this album in 2007 as a frontliner. When Muse took the stage at Wembley Stadium in the UK a few months later, they fronted the band in return. -H
NED'S ATOMIC DUSTBIN God Fodder (1991) A prime example of the ‘gleeful rock’ that dominated the UK indie scene in the early 90s. The first album, featuring snarling twin basses, blistering fuzz guitars, danceable driving beats and sweet and sour melodies, was a #4 hit in the UK. In their heyday, the three Muse members were in secondary school and Matthew's first gig was with the Neds. -I
NEW ORDER Low-Life (1985) Formed by the remaining members of Joy Division after Ian Curtis (vo) committed suicide. The band's melodious bass was a distinctive feature, and it swallowed techno, disco and later house, and used synths extensively. The killer 80s synth-pop tune 2 shines with its piercing uppercut. -I
NINA SIMONE I Put A Spell On You (1965) A classic album from the Philips era by a singer-songwriter who transcended genres such as jazz-blues and R&B. Muse covered ‘Feeling Good’, a standard that has been taken up by many different faces, but Matthew was introduced to it by Nina's version. The title track featuring Screaming Jay Hawkins is also full of atmosphere. -S

OH BOY ASTRO BOY ELECTRIC BOOGALO HERE WE GO!
YOU THOUGHT I WAS GONNA MAKE ONE POST? NAH WE GOT A ROUND TWO AS I GOTTA SAY SOMETHING
I WANT TO MAKE THIS, LOUD AND CLEAR, TO PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE FANDOM
Many people actually DON'T dislike the 2003 Astro Boy dub
SHOCKING, I KNOW.
But seriously, from what I've seen 99% of fans love the dub just as much as they love the sub, including myself, with many of us growing up with the dub version and growing a strong attachment to it especially due to it being nostalgic for many of us. I hardly ever see many complaints about it, even on the very rare videos that compare the sub and dub 99% of it is just talking about the scene and Astro and only 1% at most complaining about it for their own reasons.
Because es it does have it's issues like cutting out scenes, mostly regarding Tobio's past, but that's no one's fault as although censorship wasn't as aggressive in the 2000's as it is now they still weren't comfortable displaying much of Tobio's past which, like it or not, is pretty valid as I don't think many of us kids wanted to see a 9 year old child get hit by a car head on and die instantly with none of it being off screen. The rest of the issues though are kind of just- eh? Like they are a problem but it's not too prominent except some line changes here and there and sometimes the dub voice lines not matching up with the expressions but nothing that really badly affects it as the points still get across all the same. AND SPEAKING OF THE VOICES, OH BOY GET READY FOR THIS
Yeah there is nothing bad about either, most fans don't really care and those who do most likely jumped on a band wagon. The only difference is that Astro's voice is a tad bit rougher in the dub but people need to realize EVERY SINGLE VOICE DUB MC CHILD CHARACTER *HAD THAT VOICE* BACK THEN, ASTRO FROM ASTRO BOY SOUNDS A BIT LIKE HOW ASH FROM POKEMON SOUNDED IN THE EARLY DAYS OF POKEMON AS WELL WITH ASH'S VOICE BEING A LOT MORE ROUGHER THAN ASTRO'S. Actually they felt so similar to the point I actually had to look up the voice actor upon rewatching it because I thought they were both voiced by the same person. It was just a 2000's dubbing thing back then that always led them to have that kind of voice, I don't know why they went with that but the shows were successful and I loved them so I guess it worked either way. The point is, almost no one here gets their pants in a twist about it and you shouldn't either, because, fun fact, IT DOESN'T *MATTER*, you wanna know why? Because it's still ASTRO. The changes never affected his character and I know that because upon growing up with the dub he was still the same innocent, lovable, caring robot we all know and I saw him as such the same way people saw him as in the sub. Because despite it's minor flaws it was still Astro with every action, words, and lessons that he took, spoke, and learned. SO WATCH WHAT YOU WANNA WATCH AND LIKE WHAT YOU WANNA LIKE, THE DUB IS GREAT AND SO IS THE SUB, EITHER WAY HE IS STILL ASTRO ALL THE SAME AND IT DOESN'T AFFECT HIS CHARCTER AT ALL. To leave you on an important lesson, don't jump on a bandwagon when introducing yourself to new shows that involve sub and dub and instead watch one and take a look at the other and form your own opinions on them, we are all chill and welcoming so there is no ripping eachother's faces off about it here, trust me this is not the My Hero Academia fandom, you are safe.

when you get this you have to answer with 5 of ur fav songs and then tag your mutuals to do the same, but as usual, I'm tagging nobody, and I'm gonna do what I want.
5 Colorful Songs!
tagged by @wen-kexing-apologist who had a pretty good playlist!
Note: Yellow is my favorite color; therefore, Coldplay's "Yellow" could not be considered. It's not fair to these other songs that they aren't about yellow.
AFI - Girl's Not Grey
youtube
Lead singer, Davey Havok, is everything to me. He looks good with any hairstyle and at any age, and the way he performs gender is amazing. I've seen AFI several times, but my favorite was when they were on tour with 30 Seconds to Mars and Linkin' Park. I caught the tour at the Dallas stop, and AFI was the opener. As much as everyone loves "Miss Murder," I'm strictly a "Girl's Not Grey" screamer because this music video is forever embedded in my head and my heart.
New Order - Blue Monday
youtube
No style of music hits me harder than 80s synth-pop, and any version of this song is a win in my book. The juxtaposition is what makes it one of my favorites because it gives us over two minutes of the best dance beats in the intro only to hit us with the lyric "How does it feel? To treat me like you do?" then proceeds to make us dance to five more minutes of the singer lamenting about an abusive relationship. It's a bop!
NENA - 99 Red Balloons
youtube
The 80s + dance songs about horrible shit = my eternal love. This song was originally in German then an English version came out, and everyone was dancing to a song about nuclear war. It was about a girl releasing balloons and because the government couldn't identity the objects, they shot them down, which caused a domino effect of other countries releasing bombs, but in the end, the girl stands in the rumble releasing one final balloon. It's a song about war, destruction, and hope. God, I love it.
Goldfrapp - Ride a White Horse
youtube
Most people know this duo for their 2003 hit "Strict Machine" which is a song about control, machines, and, of course, sex, so know that is very on brand for the band. They came out with "Ooh La La" which was about wanting sex without romance, and "Ride a White Horse" could be referring to drugs, but it wouldn't be a stretch to think it's about sex too, especially since the color white aligns with purity and innocence, yet the lead singer is doing the dirtiest things in the music video, so yeah, sex is my final answer.
Amy Winehouse - Back to Black
youtube
This song is about Nas. Winehouse is singing about American rapper Nas! She wrote other songs about him such as "Me & Mr. Jones" and "In My Bed" which he confirmed, but in a way that merely states Amy liked listening to his music, which seems like a bold lie because like all of her songs, it hits at the core of her emotions. The lyric "I died a hundred times" just ain't about sadness, you know? But that's why I love this song. It has a history. She is exposing a secret while keeping it close to her chest. She was sharing her whole life but being guarded. It was beautiful! It still is.
Bonus: Purple Disco Machine - Male Stripper
youtube
German Grammy-award winning DJ Purple Disco Machine knows his audience is queer and creates sets he knows will resonant with that audience. I have seen him at Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, Nevada, Red Rocks in Denver, Colorado, and a club in Koln, Germany and each time he delivered queer dance floor icons like Sylvester and Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears to the masses, so I'm going to keep showing up to his sets because I know it'll be a good time for me and all the disco queers.

The 2003 Script, Act 3
Act 1 | Act 2a | Act 2b | Act 3
Previously on The 2003 Script: Ben has escaped the FBI and Ian has the Declaration. Things have played out more or less they way you're familiar with them, with deviations growing with each act.
And now welcome to the crunchy, stabby, boney, wet third act of the National Treasure that could have been!
Trinity Church
Ben and Ian meet in Trinity Church and banter over whether they can trust each other. Ian says this:
IAN I actually quite like you. If we weren’t such enemies, I do believe we’d be great friends.
→ Fellas is it gay to think you’d be friends with the guy you’ve been trying to kill for two weeks if you weren’t trying to kill him? Magneto wants his bit back. In all seriousness, I do like this element of the final film, although back to the “on the nose” bit we talked about earlier, Ian doesn’t have to say it. It’s clear that they do have a lot in common and they could have been friends. I mean they were friends before the Charlotte. They played poker together. Ian was very supporting of Ben, and I don’t think that was only the means to an end.
Shaw brings in the Declaration and the bifocal glasses…and Ben STEPS ON THEM. He smashes the glasses so Ian can’t find the treasure without him.
Dude.
Ian holds a gun to Ben’s stomach.
→ Again, as we talked about in Pt 1, Ian and Shaw aren’t as differentiated as in the final film, where Shaw does the gun stuff on Ian’s behalf. (Fellas is it gay…)
Ben wants to trade the treasure for the Declaration. Ian and Shaw leave their guns behind at Ben’s demand.
As they exit the church, and old lady in a shawl grabs Ben’s wrist. It’s ABIGAIL. She saw the map back in Philadelphia and knew where to head. (She ditched the FBI with the old sneak-out-of-the-restroom trick.)
Sadusky tracks them by asking what in Manhattan hasn’t changed in 200 years.
→ That’s actually a really interesting approach! I’d like to see more of it. This kind of thinking could have been a neat direction to take part of the movie in.
Back at the church, Ben, Ian, and Abigail head into the Trinity Church Graveyard, where Riley is waiting. There is no “X” as the map promised. Except….
The map showed a moon, so maybe the X can only be seen at night. Ben opens the doors of the church and light spills into the graveyard…
…where a gravestone in the shape of a TEMPLAR CROSS casts an X-shaped shadow on a LONG STONE CRYPT.
At the base of the crypt is a keyhole.
Ben takes the meerschaum pipe, which Ian also had Shaw bring, and SMASHES IT to reveal a SKELETON KEY.
→ Stop destroying priceless historical artifacts you maniac! This does not totally seem like a person who would risk his safety for the Declaration, actually.
The key triggers a stone door to open in the crypt. Ben heads inside and the door starts to close. Ian, Shaw, and Riley scramble in, with Abigail diving in just as the door closes and landing in Ben’s arms.
The chemistry…electric.
→ There’s no world in which I would describe their on-screen relationship this way, and I like them a lot as a pairing. But just…no.
Ben wants Ian to give him the Declaration, but Ian doesn’t trust Ben to turn and leave the treasure behind, not where they’re this close.
→ Interesting! Does Ian know this Ben better than we do? Ben isn't really a character with a flaw, in the traditional sense, but if he were going to be, is this it?
Riley is sure there are traps coming because he’s watched Raiders of the Lost Arc too many times.
→ This is what I mean about this version being too genre-aware. By Riley pointing out the tropes we all know are coming, it flattens them. It invites us to focus on the ways in which the movie is derivative and “of its genre” rather than the ways it is different.
Then a SKELETON FALLS FROM THE CEILING!
SURPRISE! They’re underneath a mass grave of Hessians, German soldiers who fought for the British during the revolution.
→ It’s Abigail who explains this, which is a coincidence, but it’s a weird little rhyme with the fact that she ends up being German in the final film.
Shaw notices the pistol in one of the skeleton’s belts. He reaches up, tries to yank it out…
…and GETS FUCKING STABBED IN THE CHEST BY A BAYONET.
Then he stumbles through a dirt wall and falls a long, long way down to his death.
→ Shaw was always destined to die in the treasure pit I guess.
Ian immediate reaction is:
IAN Well, that was unfortunate, now wasn’t it?
→ Which is exponentially less gay than his reaction in the final movie.
Down the shaft is an elevator similar to the final film, but here there are no winding stairs or chandelier, it’s just, like, a hole. The elevator is also an enclosed wooden box.
And a million rats and cockroaches poor out when they open the door!
They all get in and descend with little fanfare.
---------------
Back on the surface, Sadusky has arrived and finds the broken pipe in the graveyard. He sees the disturbed crypt and orders a jackhammer be brought to the scene.
---------------
Down in the elevator, the gang observes that this elevator is designed to only go one way: down.
When it stops, there is WATER UP TO THEIR ANKLES.
→ That’s right! Hold onto your raincoats kids because we’re doing an underground water sequence like the one that would eventually end up in Book of Secrets.
They step into a stone antechamber and find a stone platform with three Templar swords stuck into it.
RILEY (sing-song) It’s a trap.
Ian pulls out a sword anyway. The SOUND OF RUSHING WATER intensifies.
Ben finds a bas relief of a snake cut into pieces. Join or die.
Then water FLOODS THE CHAMBER. The gang is up to their chests in no time, and the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE IS FLOATING AWAY.
Abigail is able to grab it and hold it over her head.
Ben announces that they have to place a sword in each of the three vertices of a triangle carved into the floor. Literally working together or they die.
Ben dives down. Riley thinks this is nuts, but there’s no other choice. Ben and Riley retrieve the other two swords, then they and Ian dive down to do the thing while Abigail holds the Declaration above water.
---------------
Up with Sadusky, they’ve made it through the crypt wall.
---------------
Back down in water hell, the boys struggle to find the slots and insert the swords. Abigail and the Declaration get submerged just before…success. Ben finds the third sword spot and the stone ceiling starts sliding apart.
→ The final film moves the major obstacle of the finale sequence from an intentional one orchestrated by the tomb builders to an unintentional one as the stairs had become structurally unsound after 200 years underground. And I really like this change! One trope I’ve never liked all that much is what we see in Book of Secrets with the leave-one-man-behind tilt table. Because then I start asking questions like Who built this? What about the people who actually have to get to the treasure? (And especially to Cibola) How do they get in? I actually really love how time becomes an obstacle and a danger for them as much as, or more than, anything else.
---------------
Up top, Sadusky is to the elevator shaft, but it’s completely flooded.
---------------
Down below, Abigail, Ian, and Riley have surfaced but Ben has not. Ian picks up the Declaration. Ben emerges from the water, having retrieved one of their flashlights.
They use the light to see…a bronze alter stolen from the Temple of Solomon in the 5th century b.c. They find torches there and light them, revealing…
…THE TREASURE CHAMBER.
Dozens of marble Doric and Corinthian columns line the walls of the cavernous chamber filled with ancient treasures. Crown jewels, gold and silver plates and chalices, gilded cherubim, olivewood furniture, carriages, loot from the Oracle of Delphi, and countless sacred artifacts.
Ian is ready to have full digging through the treasure room but Ben just wants the Declaration back.
Ian would rather pick up the SWORD OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT…
…AND STAB RILEY IN THE STOMACH WITH IT!
→ The increased violence with the henchmen has at least payed off here. It might feel even more plot-armor-y if all of Ian’s crew was killed but no one on Team Treasure gained a scratch. However, this leaves Riley and Abigail sideline for most of the rest of the finale. And also, Riley!!! No!!!! My baby boy, you cannot do that to him. All in all, I think the level of violence in the final script works for the movie. We understand how much peril the gang is in with Shaw’s death and the addition of the stairs sequence.
Cue the second shirtless—or at least bare arms and a tank top—scene as Ben balls up his shirt and holds to Riley’s wound. Abigail holds if there while…
…Ben and Ian get into a sword fight.
Ben uses random treasure objects for defense until he finds a sword of his own. Ian is pissed that Ben has to be all noble instead of just debating how they’re going to divvy up the treasure.
IAN I don’t trust honest men.
→ He and Jack Sparrow agree on this, at least.
Hey!! I wrote this wayyyy before the Abigail and Elizabeth series. Hehe.
They duel. The Declaration falls to the ground.
Abigail has Riley take over applying pressure while she dives for the Declaration, which is rolling towards the drain…
…and she misses!
The Declaration is stuck down in the drain, out of her reach.
Ben’s sword breaks and he’s back to using random objects for defense, which Ian is gleefully destroying.
Ian gets his sword stuck in one of the pillars. Ben pushes a Greek limestone statue toward Ian. It crashes into the pillar, leaving just enough space for Ian to not get crushed.
But Ian can’t get over his own hubris and anger, so he yanks the Sword of Alexander out of the pillar, causing the statue to fall and dying a Disney villain’s death.
→ I realize this is a Disney movie, but you know what I mean.
The falling statue breaks through to the elevator shaft, flooding the treasure room. The cavern begins to collapse.
Ben uses the Sword of Alexander to smash open the drain, allowing Abigail to reach the Declaration.
Riley is still making snarky, genre-aware quips as they pull him half-conscious through the antechamber and back to the elevator. Ben cuts one of the elevator chains so that it shoots back up and carries them out of the shaft.
→ One of the most fundamental changes of the story that we see from this script to the version filmed is the final fate of the treasure. The script follows the Raiders of the Lost Arc/The Goonies model where the heroes don’t get to keep the treasure. I understand what why this is a thing. It underscores how the protagonists are noble and are willing to let the promise of riches go to save themselves, or something like that. And it can be used really effectively, such as in Finding Ohana, one of my favorite newer treasure hunt movies. However, I don’t know. I like that they get to find the treasure at the end. Although it certainly raises several blog posts worth of questions about what happens to the treasure next, that scene where they find the treasure room and are so awed and overjoyed by it is one of my favorite parts of the movie. (I realize I say that about many parts of the movie, but it’s true!) The score swells. Ben and Patrick celebrate the culmination of their family’s life’s work. Ben finds the pendent we saw on Christopher Columbus in the opening exposition, bringing the cycle of treasure protection full circle. Abigail is awed by the scrolls from the Library of Alexandria, underscoring the historical value of the find, and also reinforcing her character as an archivist devoted to preserving documents specifically. Riley has his moment with the “big bluish-green man with a strange-looking goatee.” Everybody takes in the treasure in their own way, and it’s special to me, okay? In this version, Ben is so focused on getting the Declaration back that he doesn’t even get to appreciate the treasure? In fact, he and Ian destroy quite a bit of it in their fight. I don’t know. It just doesn’t hit the same.
Up on the surface while Riley is literally dying, Abigail lands on Ben and they have another moment.
→ 😑
Sadusky is here. The Feds and police swarm to help/arrest them.
Later, Sadusky hands the Declaration over to an armored truck
which pulls away with an escort of a dozen police cars.
EMTs load Riley into an ambulance.
→ So we were pretty accurate with our predictions in the aftermath series on this count.
BEN Aren’t you going to arrest us? SADUSKY What for? You do something wrong?
He even offers them a ride, which Ben and Abigail decline.
It’s only as Sadusky is leaving that we get CLOSE ON SADUSKY’S HAND to see that he wears a SILVER MASONIC RING of the type we’ve seen in several flashbacks by now.
Ben laments that no one will ever know about the treasure. Abigail kisses him.
When he asks if that one meant anything, she responds
ABIGAIL Only time will tell.
Months later
Ben, Abigail, Riley (now healed), Patrick, Sadusky and his team, Dr. Herbert, Woodruff and the rest of the guards all watch as the Declaration of Independence is raised back up into its case. Woodruff even sheds a tear.
This is a secret ceremony only for the people who knew the Declaration was ever missing in the first place. They scatter back to their regular routine after observing that
WOODRUFF No one will ever know.
They open the doors and patrons and tourists flood the museum.
Outside, Agent Sadusky comes up to Ben and Riley. (Abigail and the others having gone back to work). He’s got a project for them.
SADUSKY It seems that, well, the President’s been looking for, uh, something else for a very long time, and he would very much appreciate your help in finding it.
Riley complains that he never got paid for the last treasure hunt.
SADUSKY How much do you want?
They continue talking as we pull up to a glorious panorama of Washington D.C.
FADE OUT.
→ So there you have it! National Treasure, the 2003 script. It ends very much where Book of Secrets does in the final versions of things. You can see quite a bit of the DNA of BoS in this finale. We’ve already spent quite a bit of time on this, so maybe we save the postmortem for another post, yeah? In the meantime, tell me what you thought!! Had you read the script before? What do you think of it?

🎶✨when u get this, list 5 songs u like to listen to, and publish. then, send this ask to 10 of your favourite followers (positivity is cool)🎶✨
Only 5? 🥺
*shrugs* Okay then!
In no particular order, we have:
1. Running Up That Hill by Placebo (2003)
I adore this song SO MUCH and (this might be an unpopular opinion, so sorry in advance!) I enjoy listening to this version more than the original Kate Bush version. It’s incredibly moody and cinematic, and it brings a whole new meaning to the song because of that. It sounds like something you'd hear in a James Bond film or in a romantic drama. 😍😍😍😍 I also like the little detail of the thumping percussion representing a heart beating in time with the song, which is a nice touch.
2. Imagine by A Perfect Circle (2004)
This is yet another cover I absolutely adore over the original. I love both versions equally, but there’s just something about A Perfect Circle’s version compared to John Lennon’s that sends shivers down my spine every time I listen to it.
Like Placebo’s cover of Running Up That Hill, A Perfect Circle’s cover of Imagine brings a whole new meaning to the song simply by changing the chords, mostly in a minor key, which changes the tone of the song completely as a result. Instead of a song about peace and love and hopefulness, this version sounds more like an evil authority figure planning to take over the world or a serial killer about to kidnap and murder some people or something sinister like that.
3. Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode (1990)
This wouldn’t be a favourite songs list without the mention of Depeche Mode in it! I love them that much! They are my most listened-to artist on my Spotify and Last.fm accounts for a reason.
Anyway, Personal Jesus is a banger! I don’t think I need to elaborate on why, apart from the fact that it’s catchy as hell thanks to the thumping percussion and the repetitive guitar chords. You all know the song. It’s one of the band’s best known songs in their entire discography, and for a good reason. Master And Servant and Lie To Me are a close 2nd and 3rd for me, but I don’t want to clog this list up with nothing but Depeche Mode songs. We’d be here all day otherwise! 😂
4. Slowly by Susanne Sundfør (2015)
You all know I love my synth music. Synthwave, synth pop, new wave, retrowave, you name it! Old and now! This one in particular is a modern synth pop song by a female singer from Norway and I LOVE IT TO PIECES!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
I came across this song while listening to the Sanctuary AU playlist, and the first thing I was drawn to was Susanne’s voice. She has the voice of an angel! 😍🥰 It made me check out a load of her other songs, including ones she’s collaborated with Röyksopp. The songs featured on her Ten Love Songs album sound very poppy but also nostalgic at the same time as if it came straight out of the 80’s, and that’s why I love this song and the album as a whole.
5. Modern Fears - Pilotpriest Come True Version by Electric Youth (2020)
This is a synthwave song and, like with Slowly, it has a very nostalgic feel to it. 🥰
I discovered this song after watching the psychological horror film Come True (2020), which was featured as the film’s theme tune. I haven’t got much to say on this one. It’s a very recent discovery and I love the nostalgic synth sounds. That’s pretty much it!
Thank you for the ask, Hannah! 💙
