things i’d like to see more frequently in the wcue roleplay scene: (long post)
-sharing tongues (cats gossip in wcue like no other. but they don’t actually share tongues! this includes sharing tongues with a cat before they are buried.)
-vigils apon becoming a warrior (this is NEVER done. it’d bring a new air to the roleplay, i think!)
-elders burying cats. (usually the leader, medicine cat, or a random warrior will do in rp.)
-elders and queens in general. this includes den dads and early retired cats!
-apprentices travelling to the moonstone with the leader. (this used to happen in the early arcs. since most wcue players are only knowledgable on these arcs, this would be a great thing to pick up on doing)
-proper battle training, battles in general. (most apprentices either never recieve a mentor or only go on the occasional hunting or border patrol. battle sparring never actually includes learning new techniques most of the time!) (battles straight up do not happen. skirmishes do. Usually with rogues!)
-a more even spread of cats. Usually most of the server will flock to one clan (80%), 15% will become rogues or loners, and 5% are either non-cats or kittypets.) with the addition of more clans comes more interesting conflicts! (taking territory, battles, gatherings, tresspassers, forbidden love.) ideally in a 60 people server, there’d be 12-15 cats in each clan, or in a two-clan server, 20-30, with the rest going to outsiders/non-cats.)
-more time for deputies and leaders. A deputy in wcue is far more important than the leader in almost every way, which is NOT a good thing. a deputy should be able to appoint patrols, be able to join said patrols, and still have time to talk before they have to sleep. the leader usually has to officiate ceremonies and talk about allowing in outsiders, as well as recieve reports. leaders should be able to join patrols as well.
-apprentice’s assessments. this is, in my opinion, the least utilized aspect for app players. when a cat reaches close to warrior’s age (in wcue, this is 12 moons), the leader (or deputy) talks with the app’s mentor and haves said apprentice go on a solo hunting mission. if they bring back enouh prey, they’re granted their warrior name. usually the deputy or leader also conducts regular normal assessments to check the progress of the young cats.
-more diverse personality types. in wcue, there generally are only six personality types: charming, ‘evil’, quiet, aggressive/rude, kind, and nervous. most cats don’t go into depth beyond these core traits, and i think it would be really nice to see a more diverse cast of personalities. there’s plenty of generators online for personality types if needed!
-medicine cat apprentice appointments. just straight up- this does not happen. they have their own special moonstone ceremony! why wouldn’t you utilize that? and on second note:
-medicine cat gatherings. also straight up do not happen.
general parts of fandom changes i want to see
-the stop of use of names like ‘blindkit’ or ‘lostsight’. this is pretty obvious.
-not using overly complicated words to seem experienced! this is a big one. part of the exp/luna debate, many players like to have over-complicated names, use words people straight up don’t know, anything of the like to seem sophisticated. warriors itself does not use words like orbits or cranium. stop
-stop the hate around younger players. generally, in wcue, there’s a INSANE, and i mean INSANE hate for younger players. given a cruel nickname like ‘luna’ because it’s a common name for young kids to use, people make fun of little kids who are just learning about roleplaying. how is a kid supposed to become experienced if you’re just being cruel. instead, the least you can do is void them, or at least teach them a thing or two.
-less apprentice groups. (this is a bit nitpicky) these usually only exist because people find teenage drama interesting, but apprentice groups are pure terrors to the rp scene. they usually don’t take a mentor, refrain from training- only hunting occasionally, and are very unaware of the ongoings of the rest of the clan because of their personal interdrama. these groups will flock in around 7-10 apprentices, which insanely disrupts a clan’s balance. a apprentice friend group should be a natural thing- one that occurs from training or patrolling together, not sitting and camp and crushing on each other.
(also nitpicky) -less magic schools. i know you’re trying to roleplay harry potter. stop. don’t do that
-roblox groups dedicated to organized rps! many people don’t have discord- it’d be more accessible to younger people as well.

Inner Moonpaw Theory
Following the release of the first three The Elder's Quest chapters, most fans seem to agree the voice inside Moonpaw's head is Moonpaw's sibling. I think this makes a lot of sense, and is what I'll be building this theory upon.
Side note: in this post, I will be calling Moonpaw's voice "Inner Moonpaw." While it's unclear at this point if the voice would want a different name or not, the only reason Moonpaw is called Moonpaw is because of the appearance she gained after absorbing her sibling in the womb, as explained here:
Therefore, it is completely possible the voice inside her would also want to be called Moonpaw, and is what I'll be defaulting to.
Anyway, onto the actual theory...
This blurb has caused a lot of discussion: Why would Inner Moonpaw become sinister? In the first chapter with Moonpaw, while they annoy Moonpaw, they are mostly benign and even helpful at points. This makes me think they aren't out to get Moonpaw, at least not yet.
I've seen people say Inner Moonpaw grows resentment towards Moonpaw. Whether this is because Moonpaw is in control of the body or because Moonpaw has been somewhat dismissive and rude to the voice is unclear, but I find both ideas intriguing. Regardless, I want to offer a new idea.
I think Inner Moonpaw is actually receiving visions, and I'm going to hazard a guess that they aren't being sent from StarClan. I'm not saying that means they're from the Dark Forest... or that the ones sending visions are evil... just that the visions might seem more "sinister" for this reason, and that it's affecting Inner Moonpaw.
This would also mean Inner Moonpaw would most likely be forced to become a Medicine Cat if she wasn't absorbed by Moonpaw. With this in mind, it's not too outlandish to surmise that this will mean Moonpaw will be forced into the medicine-cat den this arc for a period of time, similar to what happened to Rootspring in The Broken Code. But similar to Rootspring I think Moonpaw won't become a Medicine Cat, and it will be because Inner Moonpaw is the one receiving visions. I also think this arc is trying to distance Medicine Cats more from the divination role with the way Leafstar was sent a direct message from StarClan instead of her medicine cats, so I'm sure that'll be relevant to Moonpaw leaving the medicine-cat den, too.
Personally I believe a combination of receiving these visions and feeling resentment or frustration towards Moonpaw could lead Inner Moonpaw to become more sinister. I think this could lead to some very interesting character development with both Moonpaws if handled correctly.
On the whole I'm very curious to see how Inner Moonpaw will be handled this arc. Considering the title is called Changing Skies, I think it has two meanings: that the Clans will change territories (change skies), and something regarding Moonpaw. The moon is a celestial object, so I wonder if Moonpaw's own sky will change. But what could that mean? Could it be related to the voice inside her head, the twin she absorbed? What if Inner Moonpaw eventually takes over the body, and becomes Outer Moonpaw? Or will Inner Moonpaw "change skies" and enter a new body...? So many questions!
Anyway, thanks for listening. 🌗 The Moonpaws are occupying my thoughts lately and I am so excited to learn more.

swag freaking ever. warrior cats your phantom thieves.
picrew is here. Morgana excluded bc it's funny. headcanons and names under the cut because. sure.
All cats are in shadowclan, except for akechi. ryuji: Yellowskull -(tentative. I wanted smth with lightning but lightningskull sounds dumb and I can't name him thunderskull bc that breaks naming rules) - a determined warrior. got in a squabble with a certain deputy from windclan when he was an apprentice that left him with a permanent limp and nasty scar on his leg. originally thought he would never fight or hunt again, but the support of his classmates and some intense physical therapy along with his fiery determination has helped him improve significantly. he can patrol and can hold his own in a fight!! - was originally contender for deputy, but his injury let makoto get that promotion instead, but he's chill with that because he knows she can handle it better than he ever would.
Ann: Pantherstep - originally Pantherpelt, but took on Shiho's (Smokestep) suffix in her honor when everyone was originally unsure if she'd pull through. - Even though Shiho can't leave camp, ann brings her things from her adventures outside and helps her with her physical therapy and does everything she can to cheer her up. she even learned a couple medicine cat basics to swoop in and help if need be. - descended from a couple generations of kittypets and still gets judged for it.
Joker: Nightstar (formerly Nightmask) (yes, mask is canonically a WC suffix) - born and raised as a rogue until late into apprentice age, got found by a clan elder (sojiro) and dragged by the scruff into camp for "trespassing" even though he had no idea where he was or what he was doing, and things sort of snowballed into him going from hostage to clan member, and now he's the leader.
Yusuke: Foxfrost - originally from riverclan, trained as a medicine cat apprentice before getting caught up in his mentor's evil plot. ended up getting help from joker and grew close to him as they navigated that whole ordeal. riverclan wasn't exactly stoked to get their inner corruption discovered by an outsider, and Yusuke got some flack for asking for help from him, and the accusations just sort of piled up and joker brought a sopping wet Yusuke home with him and now he's in shadowclan. - obviously shadowclan didn't need another med cat, so he gave that up and finds satisfaction in fighting beside his clanmates.
Makoto: Maplestrike - Joker's deputy - Has seen the fate of a deputy that lacks patience and faith in her sister and refuses to make the same mistake
Futaba: Sunsplash - Shadowclan's medicine cat - "why isn't Takemi-" shut up . she was prolly her mentor idk - following in her mother's footsteps of being a med cat. has been having visions from starclan since she was very young- most of which were painful and inflicted the horrors. - joker acts more as her advisor than she does his, but he doesn't mind that. she supports the clan well and theyre close. - man she's literally an oracle what do u want me to say
Haru: Blackfern - I always feel bad having to write shit for Haru in Aus or stories and not having anything to say because she's just kinda . there. :sob: - uhhhhhhh man idk maybe her dad was from riverclan or something idfk this post has turned into an unexpected project
Akechi: Crowstripe - deputy of thunderclan, double crossing his father and leader to assist Shadowclan in an attempted mutiny. but he plans to get the last laugh - I forgot what those fucking like meetings the clans met up at every moon things are called. but anyways ever since he was an apprentice and so was joker they've tussled at those to "Train" until they became warriors. seeing joker become a leader before him has been actual hell. - killed Futaba's mom. thats also just canon thats not the au but I felt like it needed to be restated.
#I didn't mean for this to get out of hand man#anyways#trinket close them peepers#persona 5#warrior cats#I freaking. guess.#long post#ren amamiya#ryuji sakamoto#ann takamaki#makoto niijima#futaba sakura#haru okumura#goro akechi#Yusuke kitagawa

Have you played Clangen and if so what do you think :)
I love Clangen! I have a personal clan that I’ve played for a long time now that is approaching 22 years old in game! I’m very attached to some of the little guys there.
With the new update, I’ve been wanting to try a new one. I’ve considered a side blog, but I don’t know lol
It’s a fun game though! Here are some of my favorite babies and a bit about them from my personal playthrough, FernClan.
This is Lionpoppy! She's a warrior turned medicine cat. She was the quiet and polite one of her siblings, rather average by nature and not standing out. She fell in love with the rather popular, outgoing, and handsome Clearspring though. They talked about having a family, but unfortunately Clearspring drowned saving his apprentice Coniferpaw from the flood. Lionpoppy was devastated.
However, she had always been blessed and comforted by the stars. Her clan needed her during these difficult times, and she became a medicine cat. A few moons later, Clearspring visited her in a dream, whispering of the hollows on he outskirts of their territory. When Lionpoppy went there upon waking up, she found three abandoned kits - Sunnykit, Primrosekit, and Ospreykit. She believed this was a blessing from Clearspring, and these kits were the family they never got to have together.
She died recently from greencough and I was sad. Her kits all grew up though! Primerosethroat was very cold and aggressive, and sadly he died rather young to a pack of rogues. Sunnystreak was captured by twolegs as a young warrior, but returned later alongside her two kits Curlkit and Cloverkit (Curlkit became Curlspot, who trained under Lionpoppy :) ). Ospreyshade is a sassy spitfire who is still going strong today.
Squirrelclaw was a bloodthirsty little guy growing up and was the secret lovechild of the medicine cat Deerbracken and warrior Shortmouse. They had 5 kits! Squirrelclaw was always getting into fights and got pretty scarred up growing up. He's definitely the patrol guy, but is very soft towards his mate Brownnut. He had a hard time when his mother Shortmouse abandoned him and his siblings as apprentices to be a kittypet.
Him and Brownnut also had 5 kits. Runs in the family. He's the father of Lionpoppy actually! His son Mottledflood is a weirdo elder still, and his daughter Burdockgoose murdered the mediator because she thought she was being far too nice to the other clans. She's in the Dark Forest now. Squirrelclaw lost his eye from a dog mauling.
Beaverkite my beloved. He was Clearspring's dad. Beaverkite was an orphaned kit FernClan took in, always working hard to prove himself and earn his place. His heart always belonged to Archheart, but he was in a love triangle with Pondleap, a former loner and mother of Brownnut. He didn't do anything amazing, but he just had some of the best interactions and relationships. He's also probably the plainest cat I've ever had appearance wise.
Putting these two together. Creekstripe is very strict and always following rules, kinda standoffish. Bluepond is ditzy, curious, always wandering off. Bluepond disappears for days at a time and Creekstripe has just learned to sigh and not worry. They're complete opposites but love each other very much. Bluepond was captured by twolegs as an apprentice due to her curious nature, and Creekpaw was captured shortly after, so I imagined he left to go and save her. And they both returned too! Creekstripe lost his eye from a rabbit scratching it - nothing crazy cool.
They've had... a lot of kits. Nine in total. Five are still alive. They both retired together, but Creekstripe was murdered by Gustbrook, and Bluepond died of old age not too long after.
Lowclaw was my first evil Dark Forest cat. She was a fierce and strong cat who wanted to be the perfect warrior and have the "perfect life". She wished to be leader, have a mate at her side, kits, and do everything she was ever taught from a young age. She takes this to the absolute limit though as she discards anyone in her way without care.
The one cat she was romantically interested in, Fringeswipe, was in love with another cat. So she got rid of the other cat. Problem solved! She wanted to be leader someday, but wasn't deputy... So she got rid of the deputy. Problem solved! Oh shoot Lowclaw can't have children. Guess she'll go murder a loner and steal hers. Problem solved! Cicadastar has only one life left. Guess we better get rid of that!
Unfortunately for Lowclaw, she was struck down by the leader, unable to complete that last checkmark for the "perfect life".

havent kept up with new warriors books for like years so idk why i suddenly care but after hearing the blurb and watching akira's video on the new warriors arc (changing skies) i have a few thoughts
-please please please make moonpaw either a) just a warrior who happens to have visions or b) an antagonistic medicine cat. give me some actual drama. hell, make her a villain if you want. not evil because of the voice in her head, just kind of an asshole who does bad things. we really need a character like that. we cannot have another carbon copy of every other med cat pov or i will explode.
-also pls make her not gray. i dont care what other color. personally im a fan of black and white moonpaw, or a dilute tortie or something. just not gray.
-im super torn on the idea of a focus on the elders. for one, yes, its awesome to think we might have older pov cats, who have some level of wisdom and experience and might break the usual 'coming of age' mold. its also nice to think they wont be romance focused. but it also just feels like an excuse to reuse cats that people recognize, so they dont need to put effort into actually fleshing out the new generations. the erins are in denial about losing their old well-known characters and being forced to reinvent the cast. they arent really equipped for it and i think thats where this is coming from.
-leafstar going blind could be really interesting. i hope it brings other cats' blindness back into focus (jayfeather, and brightheart's missing eye, longtail when he was alive). we've never really explored cats going blind or deaf as they get older, especially with cats in power. personally i think a blind leader could be awesome, but i'm betting they're just gonna retire her. too bad.
-im so sick of this whole 'oh no our connection to starclan!!!!' bullshit. i hope this time they arent able to fix it. i hope starclan is gone forever. maybe an arc focused on a societal reconstruction after the center of their cultish beliefs gets ripped away. thats never gonna happen obviously, but it would be really cool.
-in general this kind of feels like a mesh of all the other arcs. focus on adult cats (dotc), tawnypelt and crowfeather coming back and, if akira is right, moving territory again (tnp), skyclan problems (avos), moonpool threatened and evil spirit communication (tbc). i hope they do a few unique things because my hopes arent too high for this if it really is just a mash-up. it feels to me like theyre running out of ideas.

crawls out of my mud pit so i like to use stars on my designs for clan leaders because i think it fucks hard but i like making the stars indicate how many lives the leaders have by how many points the star has. kind of like this right. 2 points will just be like. <>. then the remaining life is simply. Circle
i like to think that starclan has rigid rules when it comes to granting Any cat lives and that includes the positioning that they place the final star on the cat receiving the lives. Those being:
Forehead
Chest
Back (Upper/Middle)
Tail
Though there isn't any set in stone meanings to these placements, over the years there's been superstitions of sorts surrounding these placements that can be either good or bad.
The luckiest placement is considered the Chest Star
The Chest Stars have frequently been given to prosperous leaders that send their Clans into new, fulfilling eras. This could be improvement in technology/medicine/etc., victory in war or recuperating a clan post war, all that good stuff. Ex: i give Firestar a chest star
The negatives to this placement is that these same leaders often have shorter lifespans. Not all the time! But it is used as an indicator to be more cautious. The reasonings could be for anything, but most of the time-- esp during wars --its because they might've been assassinated/killed during battle, died from sickness during war, all that.
more under cut
The unluckiest placement is considered the Tail Star
Tail Stars are frequently given to cats who really honest to god cant lead for shit. LMFAO. WHILE THIS ISNT A SUREFIRE WAY TO EVALUATE A LEADER, its a pretty noted trend. This could either be inability to lead like personality reasons, or theyre evil and twisted and fucked up and starclan doesnt really like them. Starclan is also notorious for being petty depending on who's leading the life-giving-ceremony so honestly you could be the most ideal candidate but if the cat hates ur ass ur getting a tail star
despite this trend these leaders tend to live the longest. maybe not the longest as a leader. but
The Forehead Star really depends on what clan you're talking to. To ThunderClan, ShadowClan, and elder generations of RiverClan, this is the luckiest star for their leaders. To WindClan, newer RiverClan gen, and SkyClan, this is their unluckiest star.
leaders who get this star are usually wicked smart, and tend to think more clan-focused rather than say, emotionally like a chest star leader might. ones not necessarily better than the other ofc bc it very much depends on the context of the clan and how this cat goes about their methods.
There's also the superstition related to the little starclan kity cats re the Tiger/Lion/Leopards. Getting a forehead star = one of those bitches sending their claw thru ur skull. this is like. a pretty convoluted set up i have but the most barebones tldr is that the elder god is either lending you their claws, or they Want Your Ass Dead Yesterday. Those who believe in this superstition get pretty antsy when leaders come back with forehead stars, bc it could genuinely be one extreme or the other
The Back Star is also another pretty dependent thing, but as of. uh. whenever the fuck i put this idk. its leaning on the luckier side esp if it's closer to tha head/neck
These are generally given to leaders during like. calm periods amongst the clans. If there's no war youre chilling! pat on the back for not starting shit. but also this placement could be made if all nine cats giving the leader lives is related to them in some shape or fashion. whether it be greatx20 grandfather or the unfortunate kit who passed away. etc.
similarly to tail stars, these leaders could also just be lazy guys or inadequate leaders. laying on ur back/exposing ur belly = submission. assigned loser at starclan
theres also such thing as "False Stars", aka a cat was born with some kind of star pattern. These are stupid easy to identify unless the cat is a white bicolor.
All StarClan given stars are white, or off-white. the most color they'll have is cream. no patterns in them, no other colors, all that. theyre also Very Plainly Stars. There will be no disruption in the points like natural patterning would cause, and the most distortion in the lining would be via adapting to how the fur/skin settles on a cat.
cats born with white/cream stars that are good enough to pass as leader-stars are usually noted in some way by the clan. While they can't receive the prefix Star, they might get Sun-, Moon-, Cloud-, etc. prefixes if the queen is particularly ecstatic about it and usually they are.
cats born with these stars are usually seen as stupid good luck and may be the first ones eyes land on when it comes to prophecies. Surprisingly there's only one noted cat who was born with a natural star who became leader, receiving a twin star. who that cat is. i dont fucking know.
ok thank you that is all.
#Warrior Cats#WC#idk how to tag this for my own lore shit. uh#more than 1200 warrior cats . . . and ME#<- there we go

If I may add my two cents:
I'm pretty confident the Ivypool's Heart crew is going to get back before Splashtail is defeated, and I'm even going to go a step further and say Icewing is going to be an important factor in defeating Splashtail.
I cannot see a universe where Splashtail wins and is still leading RiverClan at the end of Star. That is just not how these books work. So this passage tells us that the fight against Splashtail isn't going well(somehow) and that the traveling cats are needed back at the lake quickly, with them likely arriving back during the third act of Star. The reason I think Icewing in particular is needed to defeat Splashtail is that the book points out that Riverstar is looking at Icewing specifically while saying "Hurry back to the lake. There is still time." The book says that Riverstar says that to Icewing. Not to both Icewing and Ivypool, just Icewing. And the dream scene that comes earlier only cements this further.
The dream that was clearly sent by either StarClan or the even higher power very heavily implies that the traveling cats, in particular Icewing, are needed to defeat Splashtail. This dream is saying that without them at the lake, Frostpaw will fail and RiverClan will be no more. In addition, Icewing is the cat on the quest being emphasized by this dream. The others are all following her in this dream, not knowing the others are all having the same dream, but Icewing doesn't see any of the others. She's the one having the dream, meanwhile the others are watching her have it. The message is primarily for her.
So because of those two scenes, I think she will have a chance to prove herself. I think she will have something very important she'll need to do when the cats get back in Star.
And like both of you said, at this point she is the only remaining standout candidate. It has to be a cat from RiverClan because it's been made clear the movement must come from within RiverClan to fix itself, but everyone else who it could have been has either been discarded or is a choice that wouldn't make any sense. Owlnose and Shimmerpelt became completely irrelevent and Harelight is dead. Mothwing made it very clear that her position as temporary leader in Sky was temporary and she really didn't want to be leader for real. Plus, making her leader just kinda feels like a slap in the face to her story about choosing to be a medicine cat over a warrior. Duskfur is specifically pointed out to be elder age and absolutely does not have the qualities Frostpaw is looking for in the next leader. Splashtail is being written to be as obviously evil as possible. And Frostpaw was just established last book as a medicine cat. Not only would it be weird to throw that away literally the next book(and the rest of the Clans would never believe a word out of her mouth ever again if she switched again), but it would also be weird for Riverstar to have told her "You must pick RiverClan's leader" and then have the book go "actually Frostpaw, no you don't, you're leader now have fun."
Meanwhile, Icewing was stated in Sky to be the best at leading patrols in RiverClan. She has the qualities Frostpaw is looking for, and we've seen her peacemaking and compromising abilities in action, as well as her genuine concern and compassion for other cats, such as Frostpaw. When Sunbeam was told there was a RiverClan representative involved in the peace talks in Thunder, she immediately assumed it was Icewing. She just got her first confirmed canon apprentice in River so she's now actually eligible for the position without the need for headcanons. And two of her biggest and loudest critics, Duskfur and Splashtail, are now 'on her side' and 'the bad guy who needs to be defeated' respectively, meaning they won't be obstacles for her to be leader once all is said and done. In my opinion, she's the only cat in RiverClan that makes sense to end up as leader at the end of this.
But yeah, I agree that they definitely were trying to making sure the next leader wouldn't be immediately guessed and in the process made it next to impossible to make any actual predictions because now every choice comes with asterisks.
The thing is, they've really narrowed it down to 3 (arguably 2 because I genuinely don't think at any point have they honestly considered making it mothwing its just that shes the medicine cat and the only well established character so inherently important to this narrative about riverclan from a med apprentice's pov) options, and while there's a timeline out there where I could believe Frostpaw to bwcome leader... it really doesn't feel like this is it?
She's so far not showing ANY leader qualities in this, the final book, where you would think that's what they would do after she's gone on so many journeys. They had all of last book where they didn't seem to really know what to do to also establish it. And last book instead actually spent time... reestablishing her as a medicine cat? Unless this book throws out everything they've established so far and wastes her journey and has riverclan themselves choose her in a moment of bravery, I don't see her becoming leader.
The only realistic out of left field pick at this point is Dusk, though, and she is shown to be extra old and conservative, but I can see them pulling a character arc out of nowhere for her in this book since we haven't spent much time with her but have established her as existing.
I don't know if Icewing going away was so they could establish her as a character in ivypool's heart to make people root for her more and they just didn't think of the timeline, but I do think the preview has established this last book is likely going to be fast paced. (But they say the cats are only going to be gone a few days idk if thats another miscommunication between authors or setting up for the clans to worry about them not returning) or if it was to remove her from the picture? I think she'll be deputy if nothing else. I think she's the cat that they want us to think will be picked but the journey feels like it's removing her as an option.
I think that prologue, if the last chapter of last book didn't, and the comments about him so far have thoroughly established they arent gonna pull anything to say splashtail is the best option her just had to get over a bumpy beginning, though. Thats not actions they typically let cats recover from and theyre already saying he's just evil.
And the rest of riverclan have become the scared masses so unless a cat suddenly rises drom their rank I think all riverclan cats stoll in camp are being dismissed as options. Theyve certainly made sure it feels like frostpaw would never choose them evern if someone stood out among them with her even getting mad at the cats who got exciled for not standing up sooner.
Yeah I don't know, either this book's pacing is going to be insane and ignoring prior character development to get frostpaw where she needs to be, a mess to get icewing back in time, or to just pull a name out of a hat. It really feels like... they were super excited to make it impossible to guess until it happens but in the process have just straight up elliminated every option.
So I'm rooting for owlnose to get a second chance cause he feels as viable as anyone else at this point. Erins did their best to establish options but did even better at eliminating them as options and its entirely up in the air until we get to the choice on page.
It's by far my one major criticism of this arc, I feel like with 6 books either the options should have a stronger foundation for their possibility or we should already have such a strong idea its just a matter of showing them off by defeating splashtail at this point. It feels like they retroactively wasted the last book that was kind of filler in all honesty not doing this.
(And like i know you feel strongly about frostpaw being the winner but honestly itnfeels less like its because it makes sense as an option and more that there are no otherboptions as I said, imo)
This is a really good analysis on the whole thing.
I think the best way to explain my main reasoning behind Frostpaw becoming leader is through hope and also the quote
“Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.”
Frostpaw is my number one leadership candidate largely because of a lack of better or eligible candidates. Icewing is close second but that is reliant on her being back from her Ivypool’s Heart quest in decent time. I do hope she becomes deputy at least though. Duskfur being antagonistic in the first half of the arc holds her back for me, although there is still time for that to be addressed and solved. And I really think Mothwing would be very unhappy with having to get nine lives and become leader and always have to answer to StarClan.
I think so far Frostpaw has shown herself to be suitably courageous and able to stand up for what she believes is right. She just hasn’t had many moments of displaying leadership yet, but she did organise the group at the start of Star, so I’m hoping, if she is to become leader, Star is used to establish her ability to take charge and actually lead cats prior to this. Maybe then and only then would Riverstar was maybe like “yeah I want you to be leader, I was just waiting for you to be ready”
I think it would be cool if she was always destined for leadership in her clan but her mother took a sledgehammer to that destiny and now Frostpaw has to develop these qualities quicker than she ever should have under normal circumstances in order to fulfil that destiny. But this is just purely a hopeful theory/idea and not at all established in the books thus far.
Like you say this whole thing is more of just “ok who is actually somewhat likely to become leader” rather than picking out a stand out candidate. Except Icewing of course, but again like you say, it looks like Star is going to move very quickly so I doubt she will get back in time, I saw someone calculate that the Ivypool’s Heart crew are gone about a moon. Which seems like a very long time. I feel like she could pop back up right at the end potentially, but I wouldn’t want her just to stroll in and get leadership almost immediately by default, I would want her to prove herself first.

My schedule consists of sleeping in the day and being awake during the ungodly hours of the night, that is all
Also we started journaling in my art class and literally all ive written are au and fic ideas for Amphibia, specifically marcanne because yes
Like you can’t tell me a Warrior Cats au of Amphibia wouldn’t be a fun concept to play around with. Like Marcy and Sasha are patrolling the boarders of whatever clan (I was sort of thinking Windclan or Shadowclan?) and they see a farm in the distance and Marcy pauses and smells the air like “I smell some others down there!” and Sasha pauses to look for a second before turning back around and going “let’s hope they haven’t crossed into (insert clan that I haven’t decided on)” or something and then a bigger animal comes out, maybe a semi-adult fox that’s big enough for cats to be like “f u c k” if they come across one. So Sasha and Marcy are immediately trying to figure out how they can come out of the situation alive while the fox is growling in front of them. Next thing you know, Anne, a fluffy ass Maine coon (I haven’t decided on another kind of cat) tackles the fox out of nowhere and gets away from its jaws. Now she’s a Maine coon, so when her fur rises, she looks bigger than she is, so the fox is a bit put off. So Anne keeps hissing and growling and occasionally swiping at the fox until it hits the road. Anne stays like that before calming down and going “are you okay” and Marcy, a bit stunned, nods while Sasha takes a bit to process before growling “we were fine, what are you doing in our territory” and Anne looks caught off guard and more than a little annoyed like “I was in the area and could smell two cats and a fox, and then I saved your tail” AND THEN IT BEGINS
Obviously Marcy and Sasha would have clan names since, y’know, clan cats, but I haven’t decided on those just yet. Anne is one of the cats who lives on that farm that I mentioned before. She, Hop Pop, Sprig, and Polly all live there. They still have all their names because like- farm cats, not clan cats. Sprig is like the age of an apprentice cat, Polly is an older kit of course, and Hop Pop is obviously an elder. Anne, Sasha, and Marcy are like- just newly made warrior age, I would say
My whole idea was just kinda them, and other Amphibia characters turned into cats, constantly having run-ins with Anne and constantly having to report it to their leader (maybe Grime?? Idk, I haven’t thought that far yet) before the leader is like “interesting. Bring her in the next time you see her, I have some matters to discuss” because the leader wants the farm to be an area for them to take advantage of and secretly expand their territory. NOW- it has been a hot minute since I’ve read a Warrior cats book, so a lot of stuff might be flimsy or inaccurate. Also I debated having Marcy as a medicine cat, but honestly, I feel like that could both help and hurt the au. Like it would be interesting interactions between Marcy and Anne, because I do plan on making this into a marcanne thing since I don’t ship any of the other ships, but it would also minimize those interactions. SO I feel like it would be great if Andrias was the leader of whatever clan and he was still an evil cat with ulterior motives, while Grime could be deputy. Marcy wanted to be a medicine cat, but Andrias kind of *strongly* suggested that Marcy would be better as a Warrior cat, so she sadly gave up being a medicine cat
That’s all that I have so far
But also like- human warrior cats au- which kind of defeats the purpose, but I really can’t and don’t wanna draw cat anatomy-

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"They can't die."
(Y/n) heard a brittle voice from another room. It was late at night. Not knowing the exact hour. But they were supposed to be slipping a time ago. They could not. They felt especially exhausted and craved sleep. No, they needed to sleep. Normally they would simply hug their stuffed animal or pillow and sleep to the sound of one of their records. But their chest ached loads. And although they had already gotten accustomed to that sensation, that night the IV bothered them. Except that was not what disturbed them the most.
(Y/n) knew that voice. It troubled them to hear the state of distress in which they were. What if something bad happened to them? What if they were in trouble?
Perhaps at that time, it was (Y/n) who was most scared.
They had to go check. They sounded afflicted; As if they were on the verge of crying, or maybe already crying. (Y/n) couldn't just know they weren't okay and remain stationary. Even if the uncertainty was enormous, the fear that loved ones were wrong was greater. It was not correct to do nothing.
They moved the blankets that embraced them and got up. They fixed their pajama bottoms, and, as they took the first step forward, they felt a sting in their right arm.
-"Right..."-they muttered to themselves, to turn to the metal pole holding the serum and medicine. They slowly approached the big white door of their bedroom, opening it doubtfully and carefully. They could see a glow from under the door of the room at the edge of the long corridor. (Y/n) led towards it with feline-like gaits, quiet and attentive. The closer they got, the nervous. They didn't want to get in trouble or disturb, but they didn't want to wait still. What if they needed their help? How could they resist? How could they ignore it? They tightened their grip on the metallic pole, leaning on it. They stared at the poorly closed door for a moment, doubtful. The brittle voice was heard again.
"It's not fear, they're only 4, it's not fear."- Even more troubled that time.
Which prompted them to sneak through the door. They opened the door wider and carefully slinked their head in to observe. The room was large, the garden could be seen from the glass door of the balcony and the large window next to the bed. An older, rather large, and stocky man dressed in pajamas and a thick sweater sat in a single chair in front of a television. He was leaning forward, his elbows resting on his knees. He was covering his face to hide his tears and try to deafen his sobs. A woman, equally older, in a disordered aspect and a pajama nightgown was at his side, hugging him and rubbing his back to calm him. The woman had a frown and a depressed glower on her face, cheeks also stained in tears.
"They won't, they can't. I'm praying, I have faith, no god can be that cruel with such a lovely child."-her kind and crumbled voice told, with a fusion of comfort and conviction in those words with a touch of fear and doubt as well.
If they were crying like this, it was because something serious had happened.
"Papi, why are you crying?"- the kid muttered, clutching to the tip of their clear pajama shirt. They were scared. They had never seen their grandfather cry before, less so desperately. They felt that they were trembling and twitching their toes. Even with their serious expression, his eyes were saturated with concern.
"(Y/n)..."-The man raised his head to see them. A tear leaking from his dilated reddish eyes.
They advanced slowly and vacillating, but its presence had already been announced, and could not, as much as they wanted to, plainly leave.
"Nothing... why are you awake?"-The man rubbed his eyes and quickly wiped his face.
(Y/n) was clutching and rubbing their clothes with both hands now. They looked away for a moment, slightly swaying side to side in uncertainty.
"Were you sad because I'm sick?"-they hinted, as they looked the old man in the eye. Which was not extremely frequent. Ignoring the question.
The man looked back at them, softening their gaze.-"Why-why are you saying that?"- he blinked a few times to disperse the tears and worry.
They looked away once more, rubbing the textile of their shirt in between their fingers.
"Because... if you were sick... I'll cry too."-the kid mumbled, but quickly looked back at the man in front of them with a soft smile.-"But don't be sad! Because I'm fine now. Since the doctors let me come home, it means I'm healthier now!"- The man stared at them as not knowing that he could answer.
"Sugar, why are you still awake?"- the old lady asked this time. Leading towards them.
"I... eeh... woke up and couldn't go back to sleep."-they promised, looking down.-"Are you mad?"
"No! Of course not, but it's still late. Let's go to bed, fine?"-The older woman took their hand and the metal pole and proceeded to accompany them back to their bedroom. Her hold was secure as if they were going to vanish at any given moment as if he were going to transform into sea foam and never see them again. She did not stop holding their hand until (Y/n) tuck back into bed. The woman arranged the beddings and stared at them for a moment. (Y/n) wouldn't forget that regard easily. The stares their grandmother gave her were usually happy and sweet, like when you receive your favorite candy. This time, it was charged with despair, like that of a helpless animal once cornered.
"Mami... don't be sad. I'm getting better! So don't worry, I'll be fine! Okay?"-They declared with a smile. They were a touch fearful, but they preferred to know that their grandparents were fine. Of everything that was occurring to them at that time, seeing them desperate was the most damaging.
"I know you will be (Y/n), I'm sure of it."- the elder gave her best effort to smile and gently petted their hair.
At no poinT (Y/n) did believe that she was lying to them. Except, deep down, they knew they still needed comfort. They inclined forward, sat down, and hugged her. It was the best they could do at the moment. Most adults, who knew them superficially, though they were cold and formal children. Most adults, who knew them superficially, thought they were a cold child. It was not true, not at all. They did have certain emotional problems. Although, their grandparents knew how sweet they truly were. They may not be clingy in public or hug everyone, that was true. Simply once that person felt comfortable adequately, they would talk to you all day and follow you everywhere, like a puppy follows its owner. They were calm but loved with intensity and passion. The single problem was that only a few had that privilege.
The woman hugged them back, easing into the contact. She was not alone, and they were still with her.-"Goodnight (Y/n)."
~
For those who were once inhabitants of that house, it had been a difficult night. The couple continued to feel bad. The man commonly knew how to act wisely, thanks to his years of experience. Just he felt inexpert that time.
(Y/n) was sitting on a soft sofa, reading one of the many books they had in the library. They adored those books and would read as many as possible. There were all kinds: from fantastic fairy tales, to their personal history, to academic studies that they half understood. They were a little too small for the chair, and their legs dangled. Something characteristic of them from an early age was that they were more attentive than they might seem. In addition to high sensitivity to auditory stimuli. It was not strange they overheard a conversation.
"It's outrageous, mum! Their only child is sick, and neither of them shows up to even get notice!"- it was his voice.-"I'm not sure what to do. The other doctors said it was better if he had a few last quiet moments at home ... It's cruel, mum... very cruel."
They put the book on a small table next to the sofa and moved to the counter that was at the entrance, where the phone was.
"Papi, who are you talking to?"-They asked one they were right behind the man. Another thing about them was that they were imps. They liked to play, but they did not do things out of evil.
The sir jumped in surprise. The kid was good at sneaking around; you could tell they were a cat.
"You scared me, I'm on the phone with your Grand-mami."- the elder turned around to them to reply, moving the phone a bit away from his face.
Oh! That sweet old wolf!
"Grand-mami?! Let me talk to them!"- They raised their hands, happily rocking from side to side. The man brought the phone closer to his face and spoke.
"They want to greet you, I'll pass them to you."-And he passed the device to the child in front of him. They crawled up to the long chair beside them to be at a good height and not stretch the strings too much.
A slightly raspy voice, but no less kind and diligent for that, spoke from the other line-"(Y/n), love! How are you?"
"Grand-mami! I'm much better, thank you! Do you know? I'm pretty sure I'll be as good as new for the Solstitium! And I want a dress just like yours for the celebration, because you look so pretty in it! You always embroider the best flowers."-they sang with plenty of enthusiasm and joy.
"So you want a dress this year?"-the voice asked them.
"Yes! Cute dresses are for everyone!"-they stated-"Plus, I plan to dance with ribbons along with the rest! You will see that this year, I will endure all the dance and be Spring's Monark! Also, tell Julian I say hi, please."
"It's good to hear you're happy. Anything else, sugar?"-The sweet voice chuckled a bit with the kid's excitement and hopes.
-After a moment of reflection, they added-"Yes! I want us to eat Frangipane!"
~
"(Y/n)! Here you are!"-A voice naming them drew their attention. Pulling them out of their daydreaming.
They adored that voice and the person it came from. It had been so long since just hearing a voice made them so joyful.
"Kurapika, do you need something?"- they drawled with their soft smile.
"I know this is your recess, but Neon is looking for you with a tantrum."-he alleged with a sigh.
Outside of the fatigue that Neon's childishness sometimes caused him, he was a tad troubled. (Y/n) was spending their rest alone on a bench in the immense gardens of the Mansion Nostrade. He had been looking for them throughout the interior of the house for some time. And when he found them, they resembled so immersed in their dreams he couldn't avoid worrying a little for his lover's wellbeing.
"Are you all right?"-Kurapika inquired.
"Yes, yes! I was just remembering something!"-they assured with a smile and tilting their head. They got up and headed back inside the mansion.
"Kurapika."- they called him after some seconds.
"Yes?"- he questioned, glancing at them.
"Would you wish to accompany me tonight? It's a... special date for me."-inviting him at their house was not unusual, except that desiring to share with him some variety of particular holiday had something very personal and loving on it.
Kurapika felt special and privileged to receive that offer.-"It would be lovely. I will gladly be with you."-his voice was soft and had a warm smile on his face.
(Y/n)'s face lit up with pure joy and bubbled-"Fantastic! I will do my best to make it pleasant!"- he sensed a hint of nervousness. They probably were unsure if he would like the celebration.
"I'm sure it will be."-he encouraged.
Their shoulders lessened and sheepishly added-"Would you like to stay overnight along with that?"
"I'll willingly stay."- it was a grace for him to be so loved. He was able to see a warmhearted intimate side of someone like (Y/n) and receive so much appreciation and love.
so okay some PotH Clans basics, definitely not all the traits and customs but just some ones I wanted to talk about! if you wanna ask anything you can send an ask you don't have to reblog this infodump 😂
CreekClan
Uses mud and smashed berries for ceremonial purposes.
Some cats will just paint themselves for an extra bit of luck.
They use shells, stones, and mud more for their religious practices than herbs.
They do fish, but rely more on voles and frogs for food. Fish are more of a treat.
Superstitious cats believe that they have webbed toes.
They believe that prey are cats who were evil in their cat life and therefore atoning in this life by feeding the Clans.
They are very superstitious about overeating, believing it is the bad souls infecting you in life. so they never hunt more than can feed the Clan, leftover food is unacceptable.
CreekClan cats believe black and chocolate tabbies were particularly good cats in their last life.
They believe in spirits and souls, spirits being more akin to ghosts and monsters while souls are the essence of a cat that is reincarnated. a cat who isn't reincarnated becomes a spirit. [GladeClan shares this belief, but they learned it from CreekClan during Oakbelly's time. it's considered laughable by HillClan, RavineClan, and ThicketClan, while MarshClan thinks they no longer exist].
CreekClan cats are often gifted storytellers and very social, it's odd to meet a CreekClan cat who you can't joke around with. ThicketClan has a very tense relationship with them in comparison to other Clans.
GladeClan
Pacifists, believes killing a cat even in self defense rots away at your soul.
Scavengers, hunting is not wrong but is more of a last resort.
Extremely religious and superstitious, they have intensive atonement rituals and more medicine cats than most Clans.
They nearly were wiped out during a war and were rebuilt with mostly loners by a warrior named Oakbelly.
Oakbelly and her medicine cat, Fawnfur, made the rules about pacifism and scavenging.
Fawnfur also began a tradition of burying cats near important plants to fertilize them.
There is a large oak tree at the head of the camp that is said to be Oakbelly's spirit, as she gave up her reincarnation cycle in order to continue watching over her clanmates.
Cats will pray by the oak tree, eat and bury their bones, even just tell her spirit about their day. she is still included as part of the Clan. No cat will name a kit Oakkit because Oakbelly is still considered to be with them.
Medicine cats are always consulted by leaders and often cats will go to a medicine cat before their leader with issues they are having.
GladeClan cats use herb bundles as part of rituals and have a morning and evening prayer session, though it's not uncommon to see them gathering for prayers between patrols.
HillClan
Second most religious Clan.
Has two "shifts" of warriors, day and night, depending on pelt color. They have less tree coverage so their darker colored cats hunt/patrol at night to avoid them overheating.
Two set meal times, called Morning Meal and Evening Meal. Morning Meal is before dawn and Evening Meal is before dusk. This allows cats to social more with the other shift.
Cats on border patrols are allowed to catch and eat one meal while on patrol, cats on hunting patrols are allowed to eat one meal between patrols.
Deputies are considered leader apprentices and are treated no different than other warriors. they aren't necessarily "head warrior" like most other Clans they are just a warrior with exemption from certain duties due to their training.
They rarely use special suffixes, it's uncommon to see a lot of cats who don't have -pelt, -fur, -stripe, or -spots as a suffix. typically no more than five in the Clan as they believe you have to be truly exceptional to earn those names.
They have less medicine cats than most Clans, with the exception of RavineClan, due to it being considered a sacred role. They believe the other Clans have devalued the role by adding more medicine cats to their ranks.
HillClan cats are superstitious about in-Clan matin, so they have lifemates (romantic partners for life) and if they want kits they seek loners or rogues to be sires. most other Clans simply require the leader's approval for in-Clan mating but HillClan nearly forbids it.
they enforce the elders' role more strictly than other Clans, having a history of serious outbreaks of kit madness (mothers becoming so stressed they eat their kittens) every time a leader is lax on this rule. the mothers are never blamed, the leader is blamed for not enforcing the law that elders raise and prepare kits for their apprenticeship.
they believe Sunbelly (the sun god) watches over day warriors and day warriors will often pray to him for good fortune. alternatively Moonclaw (the moon goddess) is believed to watch over the night shift warriors. cats will pray to the opposite deity at the end of their shift to give the opposite shift good fortune.
MarshClan
Legitimate battle cats, they train even as warriors with each other to keep their fighting skills sharp.
Cats will duel to settle disputes, though killing is not permitted.
they don't use the -claw or -fang suffix, believing every cat should excel in combat, so other skills are always more noteworthy.
they take their dead to the edge of their territory, near the mountains, for the buzzards and other scavengers to eat. they return to collect the bones and add them to the wall/piles surrounding the camp.
they don't believe in waste, they crack open prey bones in order to eat the marrow and use the prey bones to line their borders and important places (like their training areas).
they fight for sport in the training areas, mediated by the medicine cats. they bless the matches and even let kits come to watch. cats volunteer and medicine cats choose combatants.
cats with no scars are considered shameful after they've earned their warrior names because it means they've only had "easy" fights. they've never been truly challenged and it's considered cowardly to not seek an opponent of equal skill.
MarshClan cats use mud for camouflage rather than ceremony.
most rituals are done with bones and fur and feathers (skin or scales in the case of frogs and lizards). medicine cats stockpile bits of prey for such things and many cats will use prey bits to outline their nests for good luck.
cats have to recite a battle prayer and win a fight against their mentor and one peer in order to earn their warrior name. typically they get a lasting scar from this.
RavineClan
Honestly the least religious Clan, it's common for them to be atheists or agnostics. they typically only have a medicine cat and apprentice.
They try to keep to themselves and are the most welcoming to outsiders. many exiled cats (Clan or rogue) will seek refuge among them.
They typically have very dark fur and dull-colored eyes, finding Clans like CreekClan (who have the widest variety of colors) to be impractical.
Rather than having a warriors den and such, cats dig dens to live with their families around a clearing that is considered the "camp."
When the warriors go for patrols, their kits are in the care of an elder (typically the kit's grandparent).
Typically cats will hunt for their family and any elders who do not have a family to hunt for them.
During the day the elders bring the kits to the actual camp clearing to teach them history and give them space to play.
They are very strict on family members training apprentices and very harsh on nepotism. Leaders aren't allowed to choose family members for deputy.
They don't really practice the silent vigil, instead having the new named warrior(s) simply patrol the border over night without the silence requirement. they then hunt at dawn and bring the prey to their leader as proof that they are capable.
They are very secretive about their lax rules, thinking the other more zealous Clans would run them out of the forest. Apprentices aren't allowed to go to Gatherings because of this.
ThicketClan
These cats have little to no sense of humor and don't value social skills, many have eternally hoarse voices from lack of use.
They're very large physically compared to other Clans. Despite this, they're scarily quiet and slow moving.
ThicketClan cats are excessively paranoid and mistrust just about everycat they meet, especially those outside their Clan. they are raised to fear and expect the worst of others.
They train for at least an hour every morning regardless of rank in fighting skills, unlike MarshClan it's not for pride and custom it is simply for fear and preparation.
They believe that SkyClan doesn't watch over them as the other Clans due to the dense overgrowth in their territory, so they work extra hard to pray and sacrifice animals and perform rituals so that SkyClan will not forget them or show them less favor the other Clans.
Discipline and self-control are major virtues in the Clan.
They will travel in groups all the way to the city ruins to mate and will not leave each other alone with the rogue toms. typically a few Clan toms are on the trip to keep a count and watch out for any kind of aggression.
They do not allow outsiders to join their Clan, for any reason.
They move camps every spring, during autumn cats begin preparing the new camp and they begin tearing down the old camp towards the end of winter.
Rather than exiling cats, they execute them. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Oh forgot to mention their clan and some of the other guy's roles, if we're talking cannon warriors clans then corrosive act would definitely be thunder clan because they want all the attention to themselves, but if it were a custom clan then I'd shove most of the famous scps into one clan just so they can all interact more often and the writers can have more time fleshing out their relationships with each other, bone break and shy sprint are on their way into the elders den and corrosive act is probably next in line after those two because they really want that deputy position and are willing to wait as long as possible before retiring, not sure if cure touch would also go into the elders den because I don't ever remember a single medicine cat making it into the elder title?? Like all of them tend to die before being considered elders except maybe yellow fang but I don't remember shit about yellow fang anyway if cure touch could go into the elders den he , like corrosive act, would wait it out, he likes the benefits of being a medicine cat and is very spiritual when it comes to star clan (me casually making religious 049 again, and making star clan the bad guys making his devotion to star clan not as noble as he thinks it is because I want an evil medicine cat to not be evil because they hate star clan but evil BECAUSE of star clan idk I just like that idea)
If ur SCP-035 warrior car design was actually in the books,, what would his clan name/clan/rank be? (PS I love ur kitty cat style pls draw more waror cat SCPs 💗)
of course I'll draw more!! I think 035 would be a warrior trying so hard to become an option for deputy, they try their best to be charming and likeable but doesn't seem to get that those traits won't make them any closer to the deputy position, 049 is obviously a medicine cat but an evil one because if the warriors writers are too cowardly to make an evil medicine cat then so be it ill write the change I wanna see in the world >:] (but I haven't read the books in a long ass time so if they have finally made a medicine cat evil i wouldn't know lol) and of all the cats I think 682 would definitely become the leader, I mean he's literally the hard to kill reptile of course he'd be the one to have 9 lives, and he'd choose the computer as his deputy because he's biased af 💀
(Lizard chomp of course becomes lizard star but I wanted to use his warrior name lol)
Naming Ceremonies: kit
(Primum a mane ad vesperum- The First Dawn To Dusk)
Often shortened to Primus Aurora, The First Dawn, this is the first ceremony a cat will go through. Because the circle of dawn and dusk will always exist, so will the continuation of life through opening new chapters and closing old ones. Like how the sun rises and sets every day and night, kits are born and grow elderly in life. This ceremony brings light to this never ending cycle, how cats are born and grow old between periods of prosper and suffering. No cat exists forever, and no time of peace or calamity lasts forever.
Unlike other ceremonies, Primus Aurora is held in private, between the elders of the clan, the parents of the kits, and the kits themselves.* The ceremony is planned in advance, with the elders taking the time to listen to any signs from the Gods and discussing possible name choices before the litter is born.** The elders take in a whole range of factors, such as every single color a kit could be, and names that follow a theme, such as a litter with Sootkit, Cinderkit, and Ashkit. They also consider what the clan is missing at the time, and any omens from the Gods. For example, in times of need, kittens are named after heroes or saints.
The ceremony begins during the mother’s labor, with the elders taking sentry duty outside. They guard the nursery from outsiders, along with having one final discussion to agree on the names. When the kits are born, only the attending cats are allowed in the nursery. Each of the elders take turns with naming litters, so each individual elder will name a single kit. This is important, as the giver of the name will always have a strong bond to the kit, and is expected to advise them as they grow older. One by one, each elder touches the kit’s forehead with their muzzle, announces their name, why they chose it, and what they hope the kit will bring to the clan. For example, an elder would say “I name you Firekit, for your bright ginger pelt. Fire brings warmth and light to the earth, and carries out rebirth to the wicked. Use your strength to bring this to our clan.”*** Afterwards, the elders guard the nursery until dusk, using this time to pray for good fortune to the kits and spread stories of who they were named after, if that is the case. No cat other than the parents and medicine cat, are allowed to see the kits at this time.
It is believed that the elders need to pray for Myrah’s blessing, so they will remain innocent and unharmed. If this ceremony is interrupted, the blessing is broken, and the elders will have to pray intensely for another entire day for the blessing to work again. Litters who are not given names and blessings are believed to be extremely susceptible to evil spirits, leaving a huge possibility for the kits to become evil cats in their lives when they grow older.**** If kits are adopted into a clan, the same ceremony follows, with their previous name being replaced if needed. A queen is required to be present, along with who adopted them, or the leader themselves. The elders need to pray more intensely and focus on the names they choose, to rid away any bad spirits attached to the kits so they can be reborn in Myrah’s gaze.
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for kits to die before they reach their first dawn. In this case, the elders bury the kits outside of camp at the clan’s Blessed Place, and wait at the burial site until the night. The spot is guarded by them for the entire night, to ward off any evil spirits or scavengers. When the moon is highest in the sky, they yowl loudly to the heavens, so Matu can find the dead soul through the dark and properly lead them to the afterlife. Before and after the moon is at its highest, they must not utter a word, so Matu does not become distracted or confused and forgets to find the new soul. When it is a new day, and the burial site has not been scavenged or no rules of this ceremony have been broken, the soul has successfully joined the afterlife. The elders’ job is done, and the day is filled with abundant hunting parties, so food sacrifices to Matu can be made to thank him for his services.
*There are exceptions to this rule. With litters who do not have acting parents, a surrogate mother will attend, along with another cat who wishes to join. However, this second cat is usually a close relative, or another cat who has a special bond with the litter in question. If no other cats volunteer, then this position is filled by the leader. There have even been cases where cats who save a kitten’s life are encouraged to attend their ceremony. Other random cats can technically volunteer, but this is unheard of, and the cat is expected to be heavily involved in the kits’ life and mentor one.
**The parents of the litter are allowed to have their input on name ideas, but ultimately it is the elders who make the final decision.
***No matter what, all names must have a positive reason to why they are chosen. No names that bring ill-will to the kit or clan are allowed, like Deathkit or Lionkit so they can rip their enemies apart. If the elders cannot agree on a logical positive explanation for the name, it will not be used. Additionally, it is not allowed for a kit to be named after disfigurement or disability. A cat can choose if they want a name change when they are able to think for themselves, and not sooner. Cats manipulating kits for a name change will be questioned and punished.
****This is another reason why outsiders aren’t given that much respect, as they haven’t been named by their elders, and therefore aren’t blessed by Myrah. Without this blessing, they become more susceptible to evil spirits, such as becoming merciless rogues or being easily hypnotized by man.
SkyClan Murder Chart:
Leafstar: it’s no surprise that Leafstar is relitivly old. She’s actually been leader longer than Onestar, and he’s been dead for a while. Also since SkyClan has been on their own for most of her leadership, she would have less lives than normal because they aren’t any other clans to help them. I also just want to see who Hawkwing would make deputy
Frecklewish: I find it weird how there are two SEPERATE Frecklewishs. Like, how??? It didn’t make sense the first time because Freckle’s can’t have wishes, but how on earth was this name used TWICE!? Is this some kind of practical joke??? Not to mention we already have Fidgetflake who’s name isn’t that much better because it sounds like he either has dandruff or is a cereal brand, but I don’t think SkyClan will need two medicine cats that bad.
Sparrowpelt and Cherrytail: I don’t really know how old Sparrowpelt and his sister are because I haven’t read a single book with a SkyClan perspective except Dawn of the Clans and half of Cloudstar’s Journey, but I take it that they’re pretty old. Or at least old enough to retire. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Macgyver: I actually don’t know if he’s old enough to retire, and I don’t nessacaryily want him to retire that bad. I admit it would be cool to see him as deputy. His name is pretty amazing with the fact that he was named after the guy who could make contraptions out of anything and get out of situations. Just don’t kill him.
Dewspring: I mainly want to see Dewspring dead so Rootspring can get some classic “my mentor died and now I have to do this alone” character growth. I may be evil. I really just wanted him to die because he had kits with HIS COUSIN and I don’t want Nectorsong to go because her name is cute. Dewspring also just seems like the kind of guy to die, y’know what I mean?
Sagenose: I couldn’t tell you who this man is. I doubt anyone would miss him sooooooo. You must die now, I am not sorry.
Mintfur: Same with her. I really don’t see why she still exists.
Nettlesplash: I really wanted at least one of the dudes from his litter, and Plumwillow and Rabbitleap are precious so it had to be this guy. I also have a character that shares the same name as him and I can’t stand for that so die.
Quailfeather and Pigeonfoot: I can’t really remember why I chose these guys aside from the rule that if you are part of a 3 and above litter, one of you must die. I can’t remember why I chose two but these dudes names aren’t that special so go and die I guess.
Fringwhisker: yet again, he is part of a four cat litter; Nectorsong, Gravelnose, Palesky, and Fringewhisker are all apart of the same litter. I picked this dude because his name is the worst out of all of them.
Fallowfern: she’s an elder and naturally, all old people must die, I don’t make the rules. (yes it do)
That is it with my Clan Murder Chart series! I hope you enjoyed my hot takes on who should be murdered in cold blood next! I’ll be here all day!
Time to talk about Skyclan: Reborn! It's an au very slightly based off a couple of other au's I've discussed before. This might end up longer than I intended but bare with me.
So this story starts off where the drabble I wrote for my "What if Tiny Joined the Clans?" au ends. Tiny is adopted by Bluefur and taken to Thunderclan to become a warrior. But Thistleclaw makes it his life's mission to make this kit miserable. He constantly reminds the clan of Tinykit's origins, and as a result the kit grows up surrounded by a lot of prejudice (moreso than Firepaw/heart does in canon). When he becomes an apprentice, Tinypaw begins to wander beyond the forest back to Twolegplace. Here he reunites with his father, Jake, and is introduced to his half siblings born to a cat named Nutmeg. This is also when Tinypaw begins to receive weird dreams from forest cats he's never heard of.
Time skips to around the period where Into The Wild takes place. Tiny-now Tinyclaw-has been teaching his siblings about the clans. Rusty is 6 moons old and wants to join Thunderclan, but Tinyclaw won't allow him to. Even though Bluestar is leader now, hate against kittypets is still at an all time high. This is because Tigerclaw is deputy, and has picked up where his mentor left off. As a result, Bluestar's mental health is declining far more rapidly than it had in canon. Canon events occur sooner in time as well.
Tinyclaw begins to feel a hatred for the clans. He's part of them, and yet basically an outcast. He's a well respected warrior, and has now been given Cinderpaw as apprentice, but is still treated like an other. Tinyclaw wants to make a change, to make things better so no cat can be judged for their origins like him. But he's not entirely sure how.
He begins to pay closer attention to the strange cats who have plauging his dreams. Tinyclaw is quick to find out about an exiled clan called Skyclan. He learns of their fate, and discovers their old home is where he had been born. Tinyclaw grows to understand what he must do, and why he's found out all this information. He decides its his duty to recreate Skyclan.
This decision isn't made lightly, though. It takes a few moons for him to reach this conclusion. It all starts with listening to Cloudstar. There's also the treatment of certain clanmates, such as Tigerclaw's apprentice, Ravenpaw, that get Tinyclaw thinking about making a new clan.
Then, Tinyclaw is pushed further when he meets the banished Shadowclan medicine cat Yellowfang and learns of her tale. He helps her by keeping the old cat hidden in a place between the forest and Rusty's house. With her aid, Tinyclaw begins to mentor his younger brother in the ways of the clans.
Not long after this happens, Cinderpaw is crippled because of Tigerclaw's negligence; leading to her being forced to train as a medicine cat under Bluestar's orders.
However none of this is the deciding factor to Skyclan's revival. It's the treatment of a deaf kit that pushes Tinyclaw into action. When Bluestar attempts to make Snowkit an elder, Tinyclaw is outraged at this idea. How can the clan treat even a cat born into their ranks so cruely?
Tinyclaw announces his plan right then and there in front of the clan. He invites Ravenpaw, Snowkit, and Cinderpaw to join him on his mission to bring back Skyclan, so that they too can find a better place to belong. All three accept, but no other cat in the clan does. The group is driven out of Thunderclan by Tigerclaw's command.
Now in exile, the four clan cats join up with Yellowfang, who's been spending time with Rusty. They explain their plan and get the two outsiders to join them. Eventually they move on to recruit more cats to their party. Such cats include Princess--Rusty and Tinyclaw's sister, who is pregnant--and Smudge who is Rusty's friend. As they go on to search for territory beyond Thunderclan and Twolegplace's borders, they bring more rouges and kittypets along with them. Soon, with Tinyclaw's planning, and with the guidance of Skyclan's ancestors, the forgotten clan is reborn.
New Skyclan is completely independent from the original four clans, and live by their own warrior code. They have daylight warriors and honor every cat regardless of origin or abled-bodiedness. Just because they're independent though, doesn't mean they have no enemies.
Over the time Skyclan's been rebuilt, Tigerclaw has managed to come to power in Thunderclan. He's successfully murdered Bluestar, and has merged his clan with Shadowclan. He's also allied himself with a group of city cats called Bloodclan, who are led by Tinyclaw's littermates Socks and Ruby-- who now refer to themselves as Scourge and Menace.
Tinyclaw, now dubbed Tinystar, finds out about all of this, and makes the decision to team up with Windclan and Riverclan to try and fix things. Perhaps, if Tigerstar and his evil can be defeated, all the clan can turn around and be more like Skyclan. And so, the two super clans go to war.
So that's what I've got for this new au. Kinda a jumbled mess of an idea but I think its neat. If I could write a book about it I would but alas I already have 3 works to write for warriors. If someone wants to take this idea off my hands or collaborate with me on it though, that'd be awesome!
stimmypaw reads the apprentice’s quest, a blog post
A big one, just a bunch of thoughts as I’m reading it, of course, lots of spoilers for the first book in the Warrior Cats series A Vision of Shadows. This will be covering just the first book tho, it’s all in the Read More, let’s gooooooo!!!!
Vision Of Shadows time
Lots of new cats!!! I don't remember these guys as kits or anything wrow!!! I like their names but itll take a while to get used to them
Also cant believe they printed stormcloud's dead name
Omg there's a cat named beepaw
I love these cats all of them so much im going 2 cry
All new names are perfect
I FORGOT HOW GORGEOUS THE CAT VIEW IN THE RECENT BOOKS WAS, LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT
I'm glad leafpool smokes weed
I love reading from Jayfeather's point of view, his grumpiness hasn't grown on me ever but thats just me, I still enjoy it lots he's great and its fun
Firestar and Leopardstar's characterizations are On Point i love it
OOF i feel so bad when jayfeather is mean to others, poor kestrelflight, I love those two
Lovely Jayfeather moments now its time for the first chapter
I like this duo! Also I didn't think I'd ever say this but shut up squirrelflight one can have fun AND learn with their mentors
Sparkkit sounds nice she makes jingling bell noises when she walks around
Alderkit is chadphobic /j
I can see Alderkit taking deep breaths to relax its rotating in my mind its beautiful
God this first chapter feels so good and comfortable, like eating noodles and chicken nuggets. I am so so deeply in love with it, its gorgeous!
Sparkkit is so perfect too, and Graystripe remembering Firestar aaaaaa
DUSTPELT SAID WHAT? PHDHAHAHHA OH NOOOO I don't remember their relationship much, must have been fun, I love young little creature squirrelflight I MISSED HER SO BAD WOW
I started reading the second chapter and died, I think ill take a break now 2 sleep heehhee
I love them describing twoleg stuff its always so fun and alien, like watching an animal planet show about funny sea creatures.
Also I have determined sparkpaw is my favorite, might be my favorite cat ever next to hollyleaf??? I really identify with her and also she's autistic i have decided that
Alderpaw baby noooo hhhh their mentor at least is trying to show its okay, he seems very emotionally distant so far and alderheart feels very emotionally needy, actually both of them do, did I mention I love Sparkpaw??? I might be imprinting myself 2 much on her
I love how like, its clear both of them are absolutely anxious and worried about others opinions on them, which is clearly something they got from being Firestar's grandkids, deputy kids and leader kids. And bramblestar too, I recall him being quite the anxious lad ahhah. Sparkpaw will be showing confidence and being loud but the second anyone isn't approving of her or she does something "wrong" she gets small and quiet, and she ended up setting a high bar for herself by being good at hunting and fighting so I'm curious to see how that will go. Also there's nothing wrong with being guided through a crowded place to meet others Sparkpaw!!! I bet the two of them would be stuck without not knowing how to talk to others had Needlepaw not shown up. I love them, my gf is mocking me saying I'm a Sparkpaw kinnie.
Apprentices will like learn about a thing and tell everyone about it all the time and assume its always true in every situation and thats valid I love kids like that. Also in my head Needlepaw kinda looks like a porcupine. Oh boo she's fatphobic >:(
I love apprentices they are so fun and silly, just making fun of the leaders like its nothing. The way they are clearly learning and absorving everything their warriors say and do like sponges its just ***chefs kiss***
Omg shadowclan is just full of 12 year olds help
And then the old person said "it sure is hard being old!" And everyone clapped
Shout-out to pretty Riverclan apprentice #481977 I love her
Leafpool: 👁👁
Alderpaw: I knew it im cursed and awful and terrible and I will never amount to anything
I wish the cats didn't seem to be giving up on him so easily though
Ah yes the classic thunderclan move "you suck, into the medicine hole you go"
The way sparkpaw changes the things she says and how she does when it isn't the status quo around her oooooooooooooyeaaaaaaa I love 1 autistic cat
Alderpaw considering your problems lesser than other cats won't help you deal with them better bro
I love Needlepaw's excitement about Alderpaw being a medicine cat apprentice, and her sarcasm, she feels like a preppy teenager
Ahhh this is so good, I am so thirsty for family moments like this, just Alderpaw bonding with grandma, I’ll definitely want to draw this one it’s so sweet.
Oh to be young and silly.
I really am enjoying like, Alderpaw’s struggles to seeing how he fits in the clan, how he fits in himself, how he wants to be seen and what he wants to be, it’s really good. I Am Engaged(tm) With This Plot.
SPARKPAW NOOOOOOO but also Yes I want her to be shown vulnerable and weak please
POP, god watching this stuff always awful, the cats must have thought he broke her ahahah
Also, really great that they learned from Dovewing and now like leave choices and discussions about prophecies between adults
And plus Brambles seemed to take the time to explain stuff to him, seems he wont be going alone either the 1 thing is that he will be the only one knowing what the journey is really about, why though??? I didnt read Firestar's Quest or whatever why does Skyclan need to be secret??? Seems quite silly really!
YESSSS SANDSTORM GET HIS ASS FIGHT FIGHT LOVE THIS LOVE SANDSTORM
I could feel squirrelflight nearing explosion here, this was very fun, i wish they werent hiding this though!!!
The secret thing is showing to be a plot point so I am once again Very Engaged
Also, wonderful dialogue bit, someone asked Bramblestar why an Elder is going and:
Lovely perfect perfect
I miss you dovewing
SQUIRRELFLIGHT LOVE YOU
Oh boy this is it
Traveling book moment
Graystripe: Soooo you're excited to go on the journey to the old territories and Skyclan?
Sandstorm: Yes! It's been ages and-
Graystripe: I'm sure the tribe will love the visit too
Sandstorm, groaning: Oh noooo I forgot about how the tribe is in the way of every journeyyyyy noooooo they're such a racist caricature, please tell me you have a plan
Graystripe: Yes don't worry about it the writers forgot about the tribe in my comic book so you can just use the excuses i did to actively avoid it
Sandstorm: Oh thank Starclan
Sparkpaw's desperation to prove herself oof, her anxiety with understanding the prophecy, oh boy, and Alderpaw feeling too overwhelmed by the questions and not managing to talk!!!! I am so glad they are both autistic
Hoping "Being Leader" wont mean theyre putting nonsense responsibility on the apprentice again
Ah good Sandstorm is on the lead again, as she should, she should have been leader she would have been great
I can't believe Alderpaw thinks I look stupid and diseased :( /j
Everything about this twoleg scene was scandalous I loved it, Sparkpaw just toppled over a trash bag and they are eating from it, iconic, also did those twolegs throw out a whole turkey? Damn
Its not that Sparkpaw is freakishly good at hunting she is very hungry and constantly on the watch for things to eat
BRO Ive never been in a road where the drivers are this wild, throwing bottles out of the car????? Ive seen Fruit being thrown like once or twice, what the fuck!!! I'm glad they are going to wait until the morning to continue
Okay I was not expecting Needlepaw to show up this girl is chaotic I love her
ACTUALLY YEAH WHY DIDNT THEY TELL THE OTHER CLANS ABOUT THIS SINCE THE PROPHECY IS ABOUT ALL THE CLANS???
Needlepaw is like Rono from Bambi 2 if he wasnt a mean bully and thats very epic
Very curious character though, how come her mentor isnt teaching her the warrior code properly? Is that an issue with all apprentices?? Is the clan overwhelmed by 12 year olds and they won?
Having lots of fun trying to play the game "what animal are they describing this time" the erins made here, im glad they're in a farm. Worried about Sandstorm though :c
Fuck im worried about sandstorm a lot, her wound hurt on Me
Yeah water is good youre right sandstorm
Aw man I hope she's okay let her at least survive to meet skyclan please
NOOOOOOOO SANDSTORMA A AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Sandtteooonrjrbbbmmnnnnnnnnnn
I am so sad
Alderpaw denying it, Starclan shining upon their vigil, everything crushed me i cried
Alderpaw considers Nihilism
Haven't seen a cat thank starclan for prey in a while its
Oh look they time skipped a journey! They don't tend to do that thats nice
I'm so excited to be meeting The Skyclan that everyone in the fandom knows now
So far they seem kinda mean but thats most clans at first glance really
Okay somethings up
I uh have heard of Darktail pretty sure he's a bad guy so yeah something really bad happened to Skyclan
Am worried
Darktail sounds like an evil himbo* i may be enjoying him actually
*himbos are usually nice by default so he's just evil and stupid and strong
Does needletail know these cats already?????
Ah
Shit
Oh okay fuck
I've been quietly reading the rest because I am just concerned and I want them to be okay as quickly as possible
Waterfalls are a classic nice
Oh boy time for our unlikely duo of Alderpaw and Needlepaw to get out of a Mess!
I did not expect this to end up with the two of them journeying into parenthood, but I'm happy it did
Well actually I'm very unhappy theyre so lost and there's no sign of Skyclan I am very worried for everyone involved Sparkpaw must be feeling awful!
Twigkit is a great name
Yeah this ended terribly
Overall! Frigging loved it this book was GOOD and a great start for the series I am very excited to read the rest, SO WORRIED ABOUT SKYCLAN THO AAAA the characterizations were great the characters were great the pacing was fun and I didn't get bored once!
I think o only wish I had read this sooner really so I could look up others thoughts without getting heavily spoiled about the last books, I can watch a few videos already though thats a start ahhaha. But yeah it was great and it felt very good to read, haven't swallowed up a book so quickly in a very long time!!! Very happy I finally got my hands on this 💕💖💕💖💕💖 cant wait 2 start the next one
If you read all this, hope you had fun hahaha, ill be making more of these cus theyre fun and I like talking about warrior cats thats just my thing
Til next time
