No one understands Jiang Cheng like I do except that’s the point. Jiang Cheng’s character is only truly understandable by the reader. And you have to make an effort. The narration fights you at every turn. The characters themselves aren’t interested in doing any heavy lifting. Wei Wuxian is too tired and hurt. Lan Wangji can’t let himself see anything but the mirror of his failure. There is no convenient Wen Ning to blurt out the truth for him. None see him clearly. There is only Jiang Cheng, his words, and his actions.

I was rewatching mouthwashing, and I ended up thinking of the different reactions that Curly and Jimmy had in doing their tasks. How during the scene of Anya evaluating Jimmy and showing dread towards the idea of doing his evaluation, Curly was the one that offered to take it off her hands. He had no issue with adding more to his plate, because he knew - or well, thought, he knew that Jimmy wasn't going to "bullshit" with him since he's known him for a long time. When Anya hands Curly a note from Swansea, Curly goes to check out what the issue is and he takes care of it without a complaint, the only "complaint" he has is how this incident could have damaged the pods. Which is reasonable, those pods are their only way to be saved if anything tragic happens on the ship. However, in comparison to Jimmy being asked to do things, he's passive-aggressive about it. When Anya asks Jimmy if he could help her out with Curly's painkillers, he tells her that people should be worth their titles, specifically using her title as a nurse when she asked him for help and then when she says forget it, since he made her feel insecure, he still goes "Oh no, I'LL take care of it" as if he was doing a chore, a favor for her. Then, there's that part where he blows up at her for things that she didn't even ask him to do - more so the others asked him about it, like the code scanner, him deciding he needed to find the axe for the foam, and then, there's the medicine part (which when she does ask, and she reconsiders - going to do it herself, he takes that away from her). Jimmy complains about the tasks he has to do and he treats it like a big issue, a "woes me" that he has to do this and that - wanting the praise of the capital without actually doing any work. While Curly doesn't complain about it, in fact, he even mentions that he's aware of how well he is doing at his job as a Captain during that cockpit scene with him and Jimmy. If Jimmy only had to do a small amount of tasks to get irritated and annoyed at being captain, while Curly didn't which I feel like encapsulates their personalities. Curly understands what he's doing is a job, it's a responsibility, why would he complain at any point for doing what he's suppose too? Why would he be upset at people asking him to do tasks? While Jimmy on the other hand, isn't used to it at all and it's different to what he's had before and he's realizing that he doesn't actually like doing the work he has too. I just wanted to ramble about it even if it seemed kind of obvious xd

It’s obvious but it is a thing people miss or understate when trying to find parallels in Curly’s and Jimmy’s relationship/personalities.

Like the way people portray it as neither taking responsibility when it is almost split down the middle of Curly taking responsibilities and faults that shouldn’t be his and making himself unequipped to handle the ones that are while Jimmy refuses to handle the responsibilities he has because he wasn’t expecting the work that comes with them.

Not a lot to say but people forget that another thing the game comments on is prioritization of issues and responsibilities and how the guys fail at it in one way or another in the situation.

as a writer myself I would be so happy if I inspired other people to write stories in the same genre/Fandom. I'd even feel honored if people wrote fanfiction about my fanfiction

I feel like noor wants to hog the yandere Disney gender-bent category all for herself. Create a monopoly. which is incredibly rich from her since the source material is from the public domain, so it's not like she created something entirely new from scratch

I hope it hasn't affected you too much and I hope you found peace. if you ever want to write a yandere Disney genderbent harem then please feel free to do so, you don't owe lavenoor anything, and lavenoor doesn't have ownership over the genre. yeah,  while  the  fic  itself  was  nothing  to  mourn,  i’m  mostly  upset  for  my  sixteen-year-old  self,  who  had  her  excitement  dashed  and  had  to  deal  with  noor’s  immaturity.  from  my  perspective,  iaptbap  is  not  a  completely  new  concept  created  from  scratch;  rather,  it’s  a  common  set-up  (the  protagonist  takes  the  role  of  the  hero / love  interest / villain  and  is  tasked  with  setting  the  plot  straight)  given  disney  princess  coating,  a  franchise  she  does  not  own.  i  can  understand  why  she  would  be  upset  if  my  work  was  just  another  yandere  fic  with  the  exact  same  names  she'd  chosen,  their  exact  personality,  and  the  exact  same  book  tower  set-up—— i’ve  seen  it  happen  before—— but  mine  wasn't,  and  she  knew  that.

there’s  a  message  count  limit  on  quotev  so  we  traded  journals  while  debating  my  right  to  write  the  fic.  looking  at  my  journal  response  gave  me  anxiety  so  i  deleted  it  (which  i  regret),  and  since’s  noor’s  deactivated,  i  can't  send  the  journal  she's  gave  me  but  here  are  some  of her  arguments,  copied  down  by  my  girlfriend  when  we  were  discussing  the  situation  afterward:

i  would  argue  that  the  similarities  she  mentioned  are  just  natural  ideas  stemming  from  disney  princess  isekai. 

yes,  the  protagonist  will  isekai  from  one  film  to  the  next  because  they  are  set  in  different  time  periods  and  have  separate worldbuilding,  that’s  what  kingdom  hearts  and  kilala  princess  did. 

yes,  there  will  be  a  mentor  character  who  explains  the  world's  rules  and  supports  the  main  character.  that’s  just  standard  fare  for  any  book,  not  just  hers.  honestly,  the  only  wrongdoing  i had admit  to  her  is  that  i  unintentionally  gave  coella  the  same  appearance  as  bookkeeper.  reader  was  alice,  while  coella  was  the  white  rabbit  from  wonderland,  so  i  thought  it’d  be  neat  if  she  had  white  hair,  tanned  skin,  and  green  eyes. because  of  this  i  agreed  to  remove  coella  even  though  it’d  require  massive  rewrites  of  the  fic,  but  nope  that  still  wasn’t  enough  for  noor.

and  yes,  naturally  the  reader  of  this  premise  would  take  on  the  role  of  the  love  interest.  that’s  just  what  anyone  would  write.  no  one  wants  to  cuck  the  original  princes.  (and  noor’s  mc  is  a  terrible  prince  but  that’s  a  discussion  for  another  day.) 

btw  it’s  beyond  me  how  she  can  claim  that  she  doesn't  own  the  premise,  yet  the  fact  that  i  plan  to  execute  it  differently  is  still  wrong  because  i’m  stealing  from  her.  girl,  pick  one  or  the  other  you  can’t  have  both. 

later,  when  i  had  to  write  an  author's  note  explaining  why  i  was  removing  the  fic  to  rework  it  because  another  author  claimed  i  was  copying  them,  she  messaged  me,  stating  she  saw  it  and  disagreed  because  “that’s  wasn’t  the  issue.”  what  do  you  mean  that  wasn’t  the  issue?  am  i  insane  or  did  you  messaged  me  to  take  down  my  fic  because  i  copied  your  premise,  even  when  i  had  given  evidence  that  i  did  not  copy  your  fic.  just  because  you  look  bad  because  you  made  a  teenage  girl  cry  doesn't  mean  anything  to  me.

and,  yes,  even  though  i  had  given  evidence  that  i did  not  copy  noor’s  fic  by  sending  her  discord  messages  of  me  working  on  it  before  reading  iaptbap,  i  decided  to  take  it  down  nevertheless  because  i  was  afraid  of  her  messaging  me  again  later  or  her  fandom  making  a  fuss.  even  though  she  stated  prior  that  she'd  let  me  keep  the  fic  if  i  had  evidence,  she  didn't  fight  me  in  the  least  about  taking  it  down.  she  even  had  the  audacity  to  ask  me  afterwards  whether  i  had  planned  on  handling  the  characters  gaining  sentience  differently  after  i  confessed  that  was  the  only  thing  of  hers  i  felt  were  similar  between  our  works. 

sorry,  and  i’m  gritting  my  teeth  as  i  write  this,  but  it  appears  to  me  that  her  genuine  intention  were  never  about  whether  i  plagiarized  her;  she  does  just  want  to  hog  the  disney  princess  premise  all  to  herself.  like  wow,  maybe  i  wouldn’t  have  felt  forced  to  "turn  your  shitty  concept  into  something  actually  good"  if  you  had  cared  even   a little  about  the  source  material! 

my  apologies  anon  dearie  for  the  long  rant but  for  a  long  time,  i  kept  wondering  if  i  was  in  the  wrong.  am  i  being  obsessive?  am  i  just  bitter  and  jealous?  no,  i  don't  think  so.  she  treated  me  horribly  and  never  apologized,  and  only  now  am  i  able  to  talk  about  it.  it’s  cathartic  honestly.

Shueisha color teasers dropped! thoughts on the pallettes?

Okay quick rundown of what I think!

I think Jodio and Dragona look the best, I’m glad they kept Jodio’s colours, and Dragona looks more or less what I expected!

Though I’m not in love with the orange outfit for dragona, I think green or purple would have looked way better! Paco is fine, though I think his hair should have been a dirty blonde.

And I’m so sorry Usagi enjoyers, he’s a lost cause, they made him tingle. They feared to let him slay, they debuffed him. It almost looks alright but then they made the hat neon blue,,, should of been at least red to at least compliment just a lil

I think everyone else’s colours are fine! Though kinda just standard, and I do love November rain, I won with him having blue!! (Looks like weather report which is super cool)

Tbh I can get use to these colours, EVEN though I’ll probably still use the colour palettes I’ve been using, not like Shueisha colours are canon, It’s disappointing they just used palettes from certain Araki paintings over trying to make their own decisions on palettes

Jodio is fine, seeing Araki used it multiple times so it feels like that is what Jodio is supposed to look like, but taking from a painting where the whole point is to be one certain colour scheme, where everyone matches (Araki does these types of paintings a lot) feels somewhat misguided and will make Dragona, Paco and Usagi blend together and while Jodio will stand out.

I feel like there should be more variety of colours amongst the group, similar to how Golden Winds cast are all defined by one colour. I felt like it was too soon to give them colours, but again maybe I’ll warm up to them,

so me and my sister just rewatched both the lego movies and we have just been yapping to each-other ever since and i really need to talk about emmet as a autistic character and the movies in general because GOD—

Emmet autism power time wao

In the beginning of the first movie, Emmet is the only person we see who consistently refers to the instructions and carries it around throughout his day — kinda being a ‘script’ that other autistic people use to fit in with others or use with social situations except instead of being internalised rules it’s a *literal* instruction book (which he has many of). This being a representation of the expectations that society expects of him and the unspoken rules he needs to follow; he’s been essentially wearing a mask throughout his whole life in an attempt to fit in, but even then his peers still see him as different due to them not following the instructions as closely as he does, causing a disconnect that Emmet couldn’t know about because he assumed everyone is doing the same as him.

But by the end of the first movie, Emmet realises that he can be himself and can focus on what makes him, *him*!! Rather than constantly following what others expects of him, he unlocks the ability to master-build and uses it for specifically things that interest him and what he wants (e.g the construction robot and the double decker couch!).

This lead into the beginning of the second movie, after 5 years Emmet is now living by his own life by his own rules, he still follows instructions but this time he makes it himself! He knows that routine and it makes him the most comfortable so he continues to do it but by his own terms. (akin to how autistic people (me) use specific routines and plans to make their day to day easier).

He’s also shown to be the only person who’s appearance hasn’t changed at all, still sticking to his optimistic demeanour because it’s an integral part of his identity as a person and by not conforming to the expectations of society he’s in, he’s being himself and valuing what makes him unique — building things that are specific to solely him.

In the Christmas tree short he’s the head of the construction crew sequence team, in the movie he builds a comfortable home with all of his interests and personality stuffed inside! But it is immediately disregarded as ‘not serious’ and ‘too bright/clean/friendly’ and dangerous to society (dangerous to the views society wants him to conform to) — with that critique of his home then being an indirect critique of his character and who he is as a whole, that he cannot or should not be himself anymore, that he needs to change and be more serious, more mature, this evident key reignites the feelings of insecurity in Emmet that he should not need to feel again following the events of movie 1.

Considering Rex Dangervest as a character; this is a version of Emmet we see as who, after being stuck in a dryer and wallowing in feelings of betrayal and anger, conforms to what his old peers wanted from him, putting on another mask now of maturity. He changes his entire appearance, emphasising the change while also burying his past identity.

However, even though he’s being what others wanted of him, he’s still doing it for himself and to attempt to squash or bury the deep insecurity he now has. He’s learned that instructions aren’t needed anymore, which is yet another thing he has completely removed from his identity now and in an attempt to be as un-himself as possible, he lives his life impulsively and destructively — his entire crew being composed of raptors than people, reflecting his distrust of people and further separating himself from them, furthering his isolation in toe.

Rex is also a unreliable narrator, lying about his accomplishments and playing it up to further conform into this mask he has created and making himself seem much more special and interesting than what he may actually be, using this to push himself further away from who he used to be (quite similar to Lucy actually, but taken even further through him taking what everyone says about him literally).

But back to Emmet, when he meets Rex he is in a vulnerable point in his life both in situation and emotionally, he’s unsure of whether he should be himself or how others feel about him. He wants to be loved and known by others and not being ignored like he was in the beginning of the first movie, he’s clearly willing to change himself in order to achieve this goal even if it’s not good for him, Rex had (has) this same insecurity and feeds into this intentionally, encouraging Emmet to change himself and grow tougher and stronger mirroring what his peers used to do with him, showing a cycle of hurt that is caused because of those words and actions.

Emmet changes *insanely* quickly, learning the master-breaking ability immediately as opposed to Rex who likely needed years to perfect it, likely pushing most of his feelings deep down and even though he’s accepted more of himself at the beginning of the second movie, his whole life before then was constant repression and masking, the instructions he was given by society actively told him what to do and how to feel, how to answer others but he was never given an outlet for any negative emotions.

That many years of repression cannot be undone such a short time, but Rex gives him a destructive outlet to vent his emotions rather than a constructive one — furthering what Rex wants Emmet to be and what Rex sees as good now because of his own trauma, wishing to now better his past self and help him realise the ‘truth’ earlier than he did, both to help Emmet but also protect him from what Rex had to go through but in the end hurting Emmet anyways.

In conclusion,

Emmet is uber duper autistic and he should be able to get a therapist and also be silly *drops mic*

I have more I wanna yap about but imma give myself a lil break cause i have like, a whole talk about the second movie plus a rewrite of the entire dryer bit plus fun things but ye
