What I like the most about these photos is that I got to spend some time with the kingfisher.

A wonderful moment at lunchtime: I was looking out over a small lake from a platform when a kingfisher landed right next to me; magical. Then he flew to a branch above the water where he allowed a few more photos. And in addition the reflections of the autumn leaves in the water in the background …

The kingfisher only posed for a moment before flying off, thankfully only to the next tree.

Like most birds the kingfisher looks a bit strange when pictured up front.

Time to fly
Fishes swim away! Creating water texture for this one was very relaxing. Every artist has their favourite stage in creating art I guess, and mine is creating textures!

A shot from earlier last year year when I got the opportunity to watch a kingfisher pair over a span of ~2 months. I love that one still sees the water droplets flying around from the kingfisher that just emerged from the water.

He was the king of his dominions, the master of his reservoir. What I'm trying to say is that this was the only bird on the lake.

A meeting with kingfishers. I was lucky enough to see several kingfishers at a small pond (old and young). There are wonderful landing spots for photos. But mostly the birds are sitting in the bushes, of course.

Kingfisher.
The second picture is kind of funny. I have never seen a kingfisher from this perspective, in which the white feathers underneath the beak look like a little mustache.
