So, I noticed... No Eisfuura in Daggerheart...? I thought they'd be a thing, since they've been referenced in Campaign three (and so have the Galapas and I think Katari)? Or is that just for the (still) beta?

Goetia to Eisfuura/Aarakocra
My Goetia OCs I will be making them into the bird folk of D&D or Exandria.
Camio
Camio is a Royal Victorian Crown Pigeon. In the world of D&D he’d be a bard for sure. I’m unsure if he’d be Eisfuura or a Kenku variant.
Camio would be a Bard from the College of Tragedy. Performing in Jsurar.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Orion
Orion is a peacock Eisfuura Professor possibly in the world of dnd, a wizard Professor. More proficient in Astral Sea studies or Astrology.
Professor Orion Ursa Draco Borealis
Tumblr media
Xander
Xander is a Noble Eisfuura being. He deals with dark magic and is apart of a lineage of Nobles.
He’d be a Sorcerer of Shadow Magic
Master Xander Malphas XVI.

I know it's Nein lockdown but in practice for me that means I have all CR-related tags blocked so anyway my absolutely out-there theory from the last C3 episode, specifically Allura mentioning the likely change in the weave of magic, is that actually now I do believe in the possibility of Daggerheart Campaign 4 whereas previously I was like eh probably not getting another longform campaign

A Long Road Home - Page 80 Author's Notes
Page 80
This was one of my favorite pages in the script. :)
It was inspired by two actual events — the first is the origin story of the real-life Calamari (whose real name is Baby), whom I found like 15 years ago at a tiny, cluttered, wonderful shop in Charlottesville, VA that sold exclusively cat-themed items. I dearly hope it’s still there. On one of the shelves were 3 or 4 of these cute little cat plushies, one of them wearing a sticker with “$4 as-is” written on it. When I picked her up I realized that they had meowing voice boxes in them but this one was broken and then I had to give her a home. (I had an OC at the time with selective mutism so it felt particularly fitting. She is the perfect size for a pocket.)
Tumblr media
(That's her on the left with some friends.)
So I’ve had this character detail in my head for years — the idea of someone finding a broken, silent toy cat in a shop and loving it even more for its brokenness and afraid that if they don’t buy it, no one else will and it will sit unloved on the shelf forever — waiting for the right situation and character to write it for. And it’s Laudna! Of course it’s Laudna!!
The other is a family story and one of my favorite examples of the tendency of the English language to confound even its native speakers.
Some of our relatives from Ireland were traveling in Alabama and driving behind a guy carrying a load of gravel in the back of his pickup truck. A chunk of it flew off and hit the windshield of their car, cracking it. They flagged the guy down and got him to pull over to discuss the problem.
“Excuse me, but a bit of rubble fell off your lorry and cracked our windscreen.”
In response they received a blank stare and a puzzled drawl of, “Whuut?”
“A bit of rubble fell off your lorry and cracked our windscreen!”
Eventually they managed to get that mess sorted out and went to an auto repair place to get the windshield fixed. As they were leaving, the clerk amiably called out a typical Southern goodbye, “Y’all come back now, y’hear?”
So they of course turned around and went back.
Other details on this page include vintage-style advertisements (genuinely one of my favorite genres of art) for Zenotha’s Throat Elixir,* tuskpaste for orcs, Eisfuura air mail, whatever the Exandrian equivalent of Coca-Cola is with a polar owlbear mascot, handy haversacks, and immovable rods.
* This was mentioned in the previous chapter, where it was out of stock. It was meant to evoke dubious Victorian-era patent medicines which often carried the name of a real or fictitious creator to lend them an air of authority. Because I was pressed for time owing to the ELABORATENESS of this page, the poster child is unused art of one of my Elder Scrolls Online characters. Her real name is Peaches Sweet-Whiskers but I’d always imagined the unseen Zenotha to be a Katari and used the UESP page on Khajiit naming conventions as inspiration for naming her.

This week's random Encyclopedia Exandria article is... Maya!
Maya is an eisfuura from Avalir and the daughter of Cerrit Agrupnin.
A fun fact from the article: "maya" is a term in the Philippines that refers to a variety of small birds, such as the red maya (mayang pula), the national bird before the honor was transferred to the Philippine eagle, the bird upon which Cerrit's appearance is based.

Since I'm letting myself braindump random thoughts that have been eating away in the back of my head in regards to Campaign 3 of Critical Role...
Remember, way back when the party was split up at the start of the Solstice? When Team Wildemount was trying, and repeatedly failing, to teleport back to Jrusar to find the others via the staff?
Laura had just rolled poorly again (ending on an episode cliffhanger, if I'm remembering correctly), but rather than taking more damage, the group was teleported to another location somewhat similar geographically to their intended location.
There's no going back once you've clicked through. You have been warned.
The party land high up in a mountainous cliffside and were met by a group fierce, armed bird people possibly resembling eisfuura or aarakocra. A secretive tribe that quickly bind them in nets and blindfold them as they remove them from their lands so that they will be unable to find them again. Going further, warning them that they will be killed should they ever attempt to return.
Ok, I understand peoples who want to be left alone, but this is a bit over the top for a tribe that merely wishes privacy. It always felt more akin to a group tasked with protecting something or someone of great importance.
Now, where have we seen a young Eisfuura entrusted with protecting a relic of unimaginable importance and value? Generations upon generations of caretakers and guards potentially living and dying in protective isolation after her, ensuring that the final orders of their original leaders remain followed to the letter.
Ensuring that the sacrifices of those who delivered the relic into the hands of the First Priestess and Keeper of Knowledge were not in vain. That, though centuries have come and gone since their time, the Ring of Brass remains unbroken.

I just remembered that this WIP for a Cerrit fic was a thing:
“You’re a rare sight around here.” “A Sightwarden?” “Sightwardens are common as marble tile. No, an eisfuura.” She said the word slowly, “Well, you're here.” “That I am.” There was a soft, sighing edge to her voice. He was suddenly aware that his hood was pulled up. He lowered it, in a motion he hoped was casual and innocuous. She closed her book in a slow, careful way that suggested… No, he chose not to interpret that look in her eyes. He distracted himself by glancing up at the sky. “I wonder why that is,” he said. “This is where I like to read while I have lunch. Every weekday around this time.” “I meant: I wonder why there are so few eisfuura in Avalir.” “Ah!” It sounded as if she understood this from the beginning. “Maybe the city loses some of its appeal when you can fly.” She gestured up and outward with a graceful turn of her wrist. “Perhaps.” “I wouldn’t know. I was born here.” She studied him a moment, then said, “You better be going. Looks like your friend is here.” She glanced over his shoulder, and he turned to follow her gaze. Loquatius was beelining directly toward them but at a pace slower than his usual striding. When he turned back to her, she was already collecting her things into a small wristlet bag. “You’re going?” “My break’s over.” “So, you’re gonna start having lunch here?” He didn’t like that confident tone in Loquatius’ voice. “I don’t usually take lunch outside, and I wouldn’t do it this far into town.” “Did you get her name?” He didn’t answer that. “You’re gonna start having have lunch here.”

Eisfurra, paladin, cleric!
eisfuura: who is your favorite npc
I mean after this fanart by @porzio-art, I'd climb Imahara Joe like a tree. Hot and friendly and a big lore nerd? There are worse things than Aeor-flavored pillow talk.
(I really do think he's great; he's a genuinely nice guy who provided some good solid lore drops at a time when the party desperately needed them—but a pair of gloves and some safety goggles never hurt anything.)
paladin: what is your favorite friendship
I absolutely love Percy and Keyleth's relationship; I think it's really fun how tumultuous it is but how much they clearly adore each other. Their opener in episode 1 writing nice comment cards for the tavern is great and they never miss once afterward. I love how important they are to each other and the impact they have on each other's stories, how Keyleth brings out Percy's kindness and warmth while Percy encourages Keyleth to be clever and decisive. And while it's not the most important thing about them, I do think it's really cool that they're such a clear example of a healthy platonic male-female friendship on top of all that.
cleric: what is your favorite battle
Gotta be the fight with Vespin Chloras from EXU Calamity. It's SO intense, everybody's bringing everything they've got to the table both in terms of combat and roleplay and it does not disappoint. Nydas and Zerxus are heartwrenching and badass, Patia and Loquatius are pulling out all the stops and doing everything in their power to keep Laerryn up so she can accomplish one of the most incredible feats in Exandrian history, and of course Cerrit's nat 20 Mage Slayer.
And to me it's so much better because we've actually SEEN Vespin! Not only do we know him as the historical figure, but we've now actually gotten a glimpse into the person he was—someone who, corrupted and mutilated as the thrall of the Lord of the Hells, would use what little opportunity he had in his right mind to buy someone else time for even a chance that it might make a difference. It adds another layer of tragedy that not only could our heroes have had kinder fates, our villain could too. But instead they're here, at the end of the world.

🔥 races (as in human, elf, eisfuura) in DnD worldbuilding
everyone needs to fucking explore how elven lifespans change their attitudes and like, not in a boring way. Brennan was right. What if gnomes work differently than anyone has ever thought before.
Also though if you can't tell a compelling fantasy story in which everyone is a boring-ass human you just can't tell a compelling fantasy story. I mean, sometimes the story you want to tell is about cultural exchanges between races that truly cannot share the same experiences, and also it's fine to just be like "I would like to be a bird person, bc birds", or whatever, but in general in D&D if you can't make a human fighter a good character, you can't make a good tabaxi sorcerer either.

292 (Mid year) - Laerryn and Loquatius get divorced.
293 - Wrayne leaves for Gwessar.
294* - 42nd landing.
NOTES TO EXPLAIN SOME DECISIONS:
I'm really indecisive how old I'd like Evandrin to be, but I'm leaning towards the older side of years. (That makes the age gap between him and Zerxus a bit big but I'm using the 'mature slower' card not bc it's supported at all by canon but because I can).
I'm killing Evandrin later because of divorseelies intents AND because I imagine they and Zerxus had more time with him than it appears in the game.
Also because I felt the time Zerxus had with Elias was too short and the gap of time in between too extensive for him to see Zerxus as his father, but maybe that's just me.
Considering the age span of Eisfuura between 60 and 80 years old.
Everything with Laerryn and Loquatius happens fast because that's how madly in love they are. These two people, who have so much of their lives planned and "under control", find themselves swept up by a feeling that compels them to throw away any good sense and fall head first.
I also wanted their careers to kick out almost at the same time, to show how they grew in this society together. Does it contradict some statements about the Herald's Tome? Yes, but I want this to be my idealized version of it.

eisfuura, bard and fighter?
(CR Asks)
Eisfuura: Who is your favorite NPC?
Appropriately enough (since this is a bird question) it’s Kiri!! She is one of my top favorite characters in the whole M9 campaign. I really hope we get to find out in C3 what she’s up to these days and I can’t wait to see her in the M9 animated series. (Also I’m glad we’ll get to see her goodbye to Jester animated because I can’t believe they parted ways with her while Laura wasn’t there! I understand why they did it, it would have been too dangerous for her where they were going, but I’m sad that Laura wasn’t there to RP Jester in that moment.)
Bard: What is your favorite “how do you want to do this?”
Ooh okay. I don’t know if it’s my favorite but the one most burned on my mind is Imogen lightning bolting Evil Sun Tree in Darkstone because that was the end of a MERCILESSLY INTENSE fight to determine whether my favorite character of all time was going to be allowed back in the game. And it was SUPER CLOSE, she was barely alive and only survived because she had to spend her last Mote of Possibility (which she was probably saving for Laudna’s resurrection ritual) to make Delilah reroll her last attack on her.
Also there was some really nice symbolism there because she opened the fight with the words “Delilah Briarwood, we’re gonna sunder you.” You know, like lightning does to a tree. And that was what she did in the end, with all the love and fury in her soul.
Fighter: What was your favorite funny moment?
Oh no there are too many individual moments to choose so this is more like “funniest running gag” even though most of the scenes involved with it are actually traumatic but is endlessly hilarious to me though how much of a ruckus Bells Hells cause whenever they go to Whitestone. Especially from Percy’s point of view. They barge into his office at 7am with a dead body demanding he bring it back to life, unwrap it to reveal what at first appears to be the corpse of his wife before he realizes that no it’s actually it’s the anonymous girl whose murder has been haunting her for 30 years why do they even have this?? also HOW is she somehow inhabited by the spirit of his worst nemesis? Against his protests they bring her back to life (?? this part is debatable) and she in turn immediately resurrects a dead rat which she insists is a long-lost relative of his, and then makes him hug a tree. They refuse his offers of hospitality but steal a bunch of linens from the castle and sleep outside in the main square. They leave. They come back and inform him they need to go to the moon. They break into a room in the castle that he has specifically sealed off and invoke the spirit of his worst nemesis IN HIS HOUSE. They destroy an armoire to make a sled and break all the castle windows with rocks. Before they leave for the moon one of them turns himself into a living bomb and detonates right underneath the thing that is the living heart of his city. Also, they picked a fight with a blameless crepe vendor in the street.
BH, why are you like this. (Don't ever change.)
Also something about the contrast between how Laudna is perceived by the de Rolos when she's dead -- she's this object of pathos, a symbol of the guilt and trauma of a horrible thing that happened 30 years ago that they feel both responsible for and a victim of, and can never fully atone for -- and when she's revived like oh she's not just a dead doll that looks like Vex there's a whole personality there and it's bonkers and delightful and she has a pet dead rat and friends who love her so much they crossed continents to bring her back to life -- is so good. (Not necessarily funny just really good.)
