SRL card game department here, asking the age old question, Who is the strongest Egyptian God Card, Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon or The Winged Dragon of Ra?
Pick a team and get ready to duel it out on Um'ami Ruins after halftime!

This is going to be a massive, massive hot take, but...
I think the Egyptian God Cards in Yu-Gi-Oh kind of fall flat. Like, don't get me wrong: I loved these guys as a kid. I thought they were rad as hell, and honestly, they still are.
But they are not Egyptian gods. Like, at all. Obelisk is a type of monument, Slifer is a freaking German surname, and Ra never had a winged dragon (although the idea of him riding on a golden dragon instead of a sun boat is a cool image.)
I mean, it just feels kind of lame in hindsight that the series tried to tie so heavily into Egyptian myth and then basically none of Egyptian myth as a reference. They could have just as easily said these were the gods of some made-up ancient civilization and it would have worked way better. Frankly, it almost feels like that was what they were trying to do with the Sacred Beasts in GX.
The real irony here is that you wouldn't have to do much other than rename them. Obelisk the Tormentor could easily become Osiris the Tormentor; the king of the underworld who cast judgement on wicked souls. Slifer the Sky Dragon could become Apep the Sky Serpent, who tries to devour the sun on a regular basis. And, of course, the Winged Dragon of Ra could simply BE Ra, or maybe something like "Sun Pharaoh Amun-Ra" if we want to keep it sounding grandiose.
At least the Norse gods got slightly better rep in 5D's...

Obelisk the Tormentor
Tumblr media
I have been buying used Yu-Gi-Oh! cards from my local game and comic shop for a few months now. There is always one or two foil or special cards. I have gotten some pretty good cards from buying them this way, but I had never gotten a Monster card that was so special. I watched all of Duel Monsters, so for me an Egyptian God Card is so special. It’s not actually very valuable, not in the best condition, but it made me so happy. I was going through the pack I just bought, expecting that the first card (a Fusion monster) would be the most valuable/powerful card, and then I saw this. Obelisk isn’t my favorite card, or even my favorite of the Egyptian God Cards, Slifer the Sky Dragon is my favorite God and Blue-Eyes White Dragon is my favorite card. I don’t have either of those, but I was still happy to get this.
Seto Kaiba is my favorite character

Behold the three Caucasian God Cards!!!! *cough*
Jokes aside I felt like matching RADder with these God Cards because their dynamic reminded me quite a bit of their showings in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime.
Ken and Taiga's were most based on who used them in the show, but Nagi is assigned to Ra because (1) both seemed to be the most out-of-reach or inaccessible to the main characters and (2) just as the Winged Dragon was given more regard than the other two, RAD Weekend centered primarily around Nagi.
As for the other two, as An's father, Ken's as close to Vivid BAD SQUAD as you can get, so I felt comfortable enough giving him the card Yugi and Atem held the longest. In contrast, Taiga's the one member of the three who doesn't want to be surpassed by the next gen and might just become their rival, so I'll give him Kaiba's God Card.

Slifer the Executive Producer Sky Dragon

don’t mind me, just casually drawing Slifer. For fun.
I genuinely prefer the original name for him, Saint Dragon of Osiris just sounds better
