The weighing of the heart, from the Book of the Dead of Aaner. A green Anubis kneels amidst the scales, holding the deceased's heart, which also appears on the scale's right-handed tray, with a little Maat goddess in the left tray. Plenty of offerings sit in front of Anubis. To the right, Aaner holds his eyes and his mouth (that is, the hieroglyphs which represent eye and mouth -- he still has an eye and a mouth in his face!).

Votive foot with gods
flickr
Votive foot with gods by Merja Attia Via Flickr: Egypt's final millennium was characterized by the merging of its culture with other Mediterranean cultures, such as the Greek and the Roman. A votive foot wearing a Roman sandal was a sacrifice usually offered to Isis and the Underworld god Serapis, a combination of Osiris and Apis. Both gods are depicted as human-headed snakes on the sides of the foot. Marble Roman Period Provenance Caesareum, Alexandria S. 17137 Museo Egizio Egypt of Glory exhibition, Amos Rex Art Museum, Helsinki From the collection of Museo Egizio, Turin, Italy 9.10.2020-21.3.2021

My months of rest and relaxation // day 23
Today I was out for the whole day to catch up with a pair of friends from uni. I had seen them both individually in the past couple of years, but we had not met together since before the pandemic. It was an epic reunion. We had a walk in the city, we went to a sushi restaurant, and we went to the Egyptian museum. I had not been there in years and it was really nice to explore it again with them. I am super tired, but I am really happy after today.
Additional productive and self care things I did today:
Read first thing in the morning
Continued my re-listening to the magnus archives
I got a new book, I know I shouldn't have but in my defence it's a paperback and getting it today at the bookstore makes sure I won't get it online which is something I really want to avoid as much as I can
lunlun's reading challenge // day 3
Share five books on your TBR list :
Who goes there? by John W. Campbell
The marriage portraid by Maggie O'Farrell
Baptism of fire by Andrzej Sapkowski
Paradise lost by John Milton
Bisexuality in the ancient world by Eva Cantarella

Stela of Neskhonsu
flickr
Neskhonsu offers to Ra-Horakhty and Osiris on her colourful stela. The stela's background is a yellow colour that suggests gold. Ra-Horakhty's body is green, his shoulders covered with white feathers with red and blue tips; Osiris' body is covered in the same feathers and his shoulders are draped with red. Neskhonsu wears linen so fine you can see her body outline through it.
