MileApo in the Associated Press article on Dior's collection!! They were one of the few stars highlighted in the article.
(courtesy of AP Photo/Rafiq Maqbool)
In case you aren't familiar with how AP works, it's one of the oldest English press syndicates in the world. The stories are distributed to members, U.S. newspapers and broadcasters with the exact same text and content so dozens of press junkets run the same story with the same photos!!
What is fashion? On Dior Fall 2023's Gateway to India collection
I also wanted to take a moment to share some of the pieces from the show, which once Elle India shared them, I was like ...oh... this is actually a good collection. (Kim Jones needs to stop being allowed to dress MA)
First of all, some important context from the AP article:
Dior has had a long association with India through the Mumbai-based atelier Chanakya, which works with artisans and underprivileged women.
“I personally wanted to celebrate and showcase the incredible knowledge India offers to the international world of fashion in the field of embroidery, the mastery of the artisans who continue to work on this craft, and the commitment of Chanakya’s founders to preserving India’s history and culture, portrayed by each embroidery technique,” [Dior women's creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri] said in an Instagram post.
(courtesy of AP Photo/Rafiq Maqbool)
There's this brilliant post detailing one of the dresses, the Peacock Dress, from colonial Britain that had thousands of detailed sequins and embroidery made by expert dressmakers in India who were never given credit for their work. The style and couture expertise of these Indian dressmakers who were subjugated to colonialism was stolen and claimed as British culture.
recently [Cathy Hay] been more outspoken of the fact that British colonisation really enables these wealthy western Europeans to wear gowns that almost look impossibly beautiful, but rightful credit was of course never given to the people who made it [...] I always wonder about the craftsmen behind so much of history's most beautiful art. They're never named because the one who commissions the work, the patron, is usually given all the undue credit.
I think it's obvious I don't love (Kim Jones') Dior, but what collaborations like these do is elevate Indian fashion and couture expertise beyond the level of cultural fashion to high fashion, as something worth celebrating for its luxury and specific vision and a rightful label that was stolen from them by British colonialism.
And by using Indian models -- of a variety of skintones that reflect the diverse population of India -- and also naming and openly celebrating the atelier Chanakya and its dress makers, it gives an opportunity for Indian fashion and dressmakers to share their specific vision of fashion as ART with the world.
Is it still branded under Dior? Sure, but Dior is the vehicle that facilitates this publicity. It's so important that Chiuri highlighted Chanakya as a collaborator driving this collection with their vision. And it gives this atelier and other Indian designers an opportunity carve out names for themselves that might mean eventually their own brand is the highlight. Don't forget that Marc Jacobs led Louis Vuitton and Tom Ford led YSL and Gucci before their own brands became big enough.
This isn't a restorative justice, it doesn't right any wrongs, but a way to create opportunities for people who were always a driving force of fashion. It's economic opportunity. And it's art. So there is still a place for fashion in the world.

2023 GED Class Roll Call
Behind each portrait of the new 2023 GED students is a story of overcoming challenges and the impact of conflict to pursue the dream of completing their education.
Meet Ching.
"I am from Myanmar. I grew up in a village called Hai Ciin, Chin State. When I was a child, I stayed with my uncle’s family because of my family’s circumstances. I went to school at a non-government school in Myanmar. I really wanted to go to high school or university, but I dropped out of school in the 8th grade and went to work.
I helped my parents because I have two brothers and two sisters. I had to help earn their school fees and I had to support my parents as well. In my culture, it is more important for the men to get an education because they have to provide for their families. That is why I had to stop school and help pay for my younger brothers. I do not think this is good because girls should have the same opportunities.
I desperately wanted to go to university, but I did not have any opportunity to continue school, because of economic problems.
Right now, I work at the Gekko Garden restaurant and I also attend GED class. Sometimes it is very hard to do both of them, but I believe I should do that because it is good for my future. It is difficult to study for the GED because I can’t speak English very well. After I pass the GED, I would like to go to a university in America or Switzerland and I want to be a nurse.
After university, I would like to go back to my village and I want to raise money to build a hospital. I want to help when they have difficult times, because in my village we don’t have a hospital. When people are sick they have to go to the hospital in the city over the border in India, but it is very difficult for them to get there.
One of my friends was sick and had to go to the hospital, but he died one hour before arriving. There are many other stories like this, but I knew him very well so it deeply affected me. There is also no proper care for mothers when they have their babies. One of my cousins died from a hemorrhage after her baby was born because there was no way to help her. After that, her parents were very depressed and they still have not recovered. Similar things happen many times.
There are many parents who have lost children and they are very sad. When we get together at Christmas, there are many people that we miss who have died, because they could not get medical care. Some people don’t have a choice; their only choice is to suffer and die. This is not fair. People experiencing poverty deserve healthcare and I want to help them.
There are many smart people who would like to learn more and help their people, but they have no opportunity to continue their education. I also wish I could help them to get an education, but there are so many challenges."
We’re so grateful for all the ways your love in action is lifting up these students so their education is not stolen from them by conflict.

What Are the Key Challenges for Businesses and Consumers in Adopting AI and ML Technologies?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the most disruptive technologies in the digital age, revolutionizing industries from healthcare to finance. Despite its vast potential, adopting AI / ML technologies is not without challenges for both businesses and consumers. While companies are eager to implement AI-driven solutions to boost efficiency and profitability, consumers are often cautious about embracing AI-driven products or services. So, what are the major hurdles businesses and individuals face in this AI/ML journey?
Key Challenges
Skill Gap and Lack of Expertise One of the primary challenges for businesses looking to implement AI/ML is the lack of skilled professionals. For AI projects to succeed, organizations need data scientists, machine learning engineers, and AI specialists, who are currently in short supply. For consumers, particularly those interested in learning and applying AI, understanding the technical aspects can be daunting.
High Costs of Implementation and Training Adopting AI requires a significant investment in infrastructure, software, and talent. Businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), often struggle with the costs of integrating AI into their operations. Consumers interested in acquiring AI skills may find that high AI/ML course fees in Delhi or elsewhere are barriers to entry.
Ethical Concerns and Data Privacy Both businesses and consumers are increasingly concerned about the ethical implications of AI. From biased algorithms to data privacy issues, these concerns can slow down adoption. Consumers are particularly wary of how AI might impact their personal data and daily lives.
Unclear ROI and Misconceptions Many businesses struggle to quantify the return on investment (ROI) when it comes to AI projects. Without clear results, many companies hesitate to invest in full-scale AI deployment. For consumers, the overhype around AI can lead to unrealistic expectations, causing frustration when AI-driven products do not deliver as promised.
Solutions to Overcome These Challenges
Closing the Skill Gap with Targeted Training Addressing the skill gap is key to helping businesses and consumers make the most of AI/ML technologies. For professionals and students in Delhi, enrolling in an AI/ML course in Delhi can help bridge the knowledge gap. Several AI/ML institutes in Delhi offer courses designed to teach AI from the basics to advanced levels, with practical training included.
Making AI Education More Accessible Online learning platforms and institutes are helping make AI/ML education more accessible and affordable. Various AI/ML online training in Delhi programs offer flexibility for working professionals and students alike. Many of these courses provide industry-recognized certifications at competitive prices. Checking the AI/ML certification cost in Delhi is essential for comparing options and selecting the best one.
Addressing Ethical and Privacy Concerns Ethical AI development must be a priority for companies. By adhering to transparent data handling practices and creating fair algorithms, businesses can build consumer trust. Educating consumers about how their data is used can help alleviate fears, enabling smoother AI adoption.
Improving Cost Efficiency for Businesses For businesses, modular AI solutions can help reduce implementation costs. By starting small, companies can experiment with AI applications before scaling up. The same approach can be taken by individuals who want to learn AI—opting for AI/ML classes in Delhi that offer free introductory lessons before committing to paid courses.
Current Landscape and Market Growth
In recent years, AI adoption has surged, with businesses worldwide recognizing its potential to drive growth. According to a 2023 McKinsey report, AI has the potential to contribute an additional $13 trillion to the global economy by 2030. Moreover, in India, AI spending is expected to grow at a CAGR of 30.8%, reflecting the country’s increasing focus on digital transformation.
In cities like Delhi, where technology hubs are thriving, the demand for AI/ML skills is skyrocketing. Many organizations are partnering with AI/ML institutes in Delhi to upskill their workforce. For individual learners, the cost of gaining these skills is decreasing, with the AI/ML course fees in Delhi ranging from INR 20,000 to INR 1,50,000, depending on the institute and course level.
Conclusion
The journey to adopting AI and ML technologies is filled with challenges, but these are not insurmountable. Whether it’s the skill gap, ethical concerns, or the cost of training, businesses and consumers can both take advantage of targeted solutions, such as enrolling in local AI/ML training in Delhi. The key is to start with a clear understanding of the opportunities AI presents and invest in continuous learning and development.

Represent Your University in South Asia
Imagine walking into a bustling student fair in the heart of New Delhi or Colombo. The excitement in the air is palpable, with students eager to explore educational opportunities beyond their borders. As a university representative, you find yourself surrounded by some of the most motivated, career-driven individuals you’ve ever met. It’s no secret — South Asia is fast becoming a critical hub for international student recruitment.
From India to Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, the region is home to a rapidly growing middle class, a youth population that is actively seeking global education, and governments that are increasingly investing in scholarships for international study. But how can universities effectively tap into this high-potential market?
This blog explores why universities should prioritize Represent Your University in South Asia, the unique benefits of the region, and actionable strategies to attract top talent.
Why South Asia? An Emerging Hub for International Education
A Rapidly Growing Student Population
South Asia is one of the largest sources of international students globally. As of 2024, the region has contributed over 1.5 million students to global higher education, with countries like India and Bangladesh leading the charge driven by rising middle-class incomes, the region’s deep-rooted cultural emphasis on education, and increasing access to government scholarships and financial aid.
For example, India alone sends over 750,000 students abroad each year, making it the second-largest source of international students in the world after China. Meanwhile, the country saw a 20% increase in students studying abroad between 2022 and 2023, underscoring its growing demand for international education.
Quality Education
Students from South Asia are not just looking for any educational experience; they are seeking world-class programs that will elevate their career prospects. Fields like STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and Business remain particularly popular, with 67% of South Asian students opting for these programs.
Moreover, students place significant importance on career outcomes. A survey by QS International found that 86% of South Asian students are motivated to study abroad by the prospect of securing better employment opportunities. For universities that can demonstrate career services, internship programs, and robust alumni networks, South Asia offers a fertile recruiting ground.
Untapped Potential: Emerging Markets in South Asia
While India is often seen as the focal point for international recruitment, it’s important not to overlook smaller, but rapidly growing markets in Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh: A Rising Star
Bangladesh is increasingly becoming a key player in the international student market. The country saw a 40% increase in students studying abroad between 2018 and 2023. With a young, tech-savvy population and a middle class, Bangladesh is poised to send even more students abroad in the coming years. Universities that can offer affordable education and financial aid packages will find a receptive audience.
Nepal: Strong Growth in Student Mobility
Nepal is often overshadowed by its larger neighbours, but it sent over 63,000 students abroad in 2023 alone . With the country’s increasing investment in the increasing number of students interested in international degrees, Nepal represents a key growth market for universities. In particular, students are drawn to countries like Australia and Canada due to favourable visa policies and post-study work options.
Key Strategies for Representing Your University in South Asia
1. Tailored Digital Marketing
Digital marketing is the cornerstone of any effective recruitment strategy in South Asia. With millions of young people active on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, universities can directly engage with prospective students through targeted online campaigns.
Consider the power of localized content. Research shows that students are more likely to engage with content that is personalized to their region. By creating region-specific landing pages, blogs, and videos that address the unique concerns of South Asian students — such as visa processes, scholarship opportunities, and career outcomes — universities can significantly boost engagement rates.
2. In-Person Recruitment and Education Fairs
Despite the rise of digital marketing, face-to-face engagement remains highly effective in South Asia. Many students and families in this region value direct interaction with university representatives. By attending education fairs and student recruitment events in major cities like New Delhi, Colombo, and Dhaka, universities can build trust and offer personalized guidance to students.
Statistics show that universities that actively participate in in-person events in South Asia see up to a 30% increase in applications from the region compared to those relying solely on digital efforts .

Offering tailored scholarships for students from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, andcan make a substantial difference in your recruitment efforts.
Universities can also explore partnerships with local governments or organizations that offer co-funded scholarships, ensuring that financial barriers don’t prevent talented students from accessing education.
Understanding the Future of South Asian Student Recruitment
1. The Role of Technology in Recruitment
As technology continues to evolve, so do the ways in which universities can reach South Asian students. Virtual campus tours, online info sessions, and AI-powered chatbots that provide real-time assistance to prospective students are becoming more prevalent. By adopting these technologies, universities can offer a more immersive and accessible recruitment experience, even for students in remote areas.
2. Visa and Immigration Support
Visa policies are a critical factor in the decision-making process for South Asian students. Universities that provide dedicated visa and immigration support will have a competitive edge. Promotional Products Procurement Intelligence 2024-2030: What You Need to Know
Procurement of promotional products enables a business with enhanced customer loyalty, better exposure, faster brand recognition, and effective and optimized marketing. The global market size was valued at USD 90.5 billion in 2023. A large-scale, multi-media, comprehensive advertising strategy is crucial for businesses, but it can be expensive for small-scale businesses. However, they can still use a low-cost promotional goods campaign to meet their marketing objectives. Start-ups can find numerous inexpensive promotional things available. For large-scale distribution, the majority of promotional product producers maintain extremely economical/low prices. The impact on the receivers is great despite the inexpensive cost of the items. In addition, offering clients promotional goods makes it easier for them to remember and recognize the company. Also, the products can serve as a business card for any enterprise as they typicallly carry the image, logo, and business’s slogan depicting their goal.
Apart from technology and personalization, sustainability plays a major role during the procurement of these products. Customers are becoming more aware of how their purchases affect the environment, and the promotional products sector has been affected by this trend. Sustainable materials like bamboo, organic cotton, and recycled plastics are becoming more and more well-liked. As per a recent report by the U.S.-based promotional products community, business enterprises are substituting traditional industry products with eco-friendly alternatives, aligning their brand with sustainability practices.
Sustainability is no longer just a trend but a fundamental consideration for marketing campaigns; rather, it covers everything from offering biodegradable pens to recyclable bags. Furthermore, the need for promotional goods that work well with virtual and hybrid event formats is rising. Businesses are modifying their tactics to fit the digital environment, from branded items shown in online event platforms to virtual event swag boxes sent to attendees' doorsteps.
Order your copy of the Promotional Products Procurement Intelligence Report, 2024 - 2030, published by Grand View Research, to get more details regarding day one, quick wins, portfolio analysis, key negotiation strategies of key suppliers, and low-cost/best-cost sourcing analysis
Real estate, education, and the financial sectors are among the leading end-users of the products offered in the industry. Professionals in real estate use the procurement of branded merchandise as part of their marketing campaigns. People in the community get to know them by attending events and giving away these entertaining things, and they can be taken into consideration for future real estate needs. In conjunction with social media, it's an ideal approach to building connections.
In the field of education, especially in higher education, promotional products are useful. These things make schools stand out when they attend college fairs, college expos, conferences, seminars, open houses, and other similar activities. Additionally, banks employ branded goods as awards and incentives for events like customer appreciation days and new account openings. Travel mugs, fidget spinners, stress balls, and plastic piggy banks are among the commonly used products.
The global market is dominated by North America, with Asia Pacific and Europe standing in the second and third places, respectively. In the Asia Pacific promotional products procurement arena, it is anticipated that the expenses incurred on marketing and advertising campaigns, such as promotional products, will witness growth of over 5.3% till 2025. Key economies in the region responsible for such growth include India, Japan, South Korea, and China. Notable examples of continuously developing Asian economies are Indonesia and the Philippines (and, to a lesser extent, Burma and Vietnam, where there is a substantial population and great potential for economic advancement). Some products in the Asian promotional product market are more sought after than others, such as personalized tote bags, trucker hats, work-from-home accessories and phone cases. Tote bags have a real hipster vibe because they are simple, practical, and incredibly fashionable. Tote bags are a significantly less expensive way to hold stuff than typical bags, whether a person is traveling to the food market, shopping with friends, or even just going out to a bar.
Promotional Products Sourcing Intelligence Highlights
• The global promotional products market is highly competitive, exhibiting a fragmented landscape with the presence of a large number of regional and global players operating in the industry.
• Suppliers in the industry possess a low capability to negotiate with buyers as the latter have an edge to choose the supplier of their choice due to the availability of a large supply base and low switching cost. Therefore, the suppliers are bound to stay soft in terms of pricing and product range.
• China is the preferred best-cost country for sourcing promotional products. The nation currently produces more manufactured goods than South Korea, Japan, Germany, and the U.S. combined, accounting for one-third of global production.
• Printing and engraving equipment, software tools, cost of the product, labor, marketing, rent and utilities, and others are the key cost components for promotional products. Other costs include storage and transportation, printing ink and toner, maintenance and repair, administrative fees, and tax.

The global clean label ingredients market is on a trajectory of significant expansion, with an estimated value projected to reach USD 69.3 billion by 2029 from the 2024 valuation of USD 50.2 billion, displaying a promising Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6.7%. The demand for clean label ingredient demand is rising sharply due to a confluence of factors that span consumer preferences, regulatory pressures, and advancements in food technology. This trend is significantly transforming the landscape of food production and marketing, driven by an increasingly health-conscious and informed consumer base.
Consumers are becoming more educated about the potential health risks associated with artificial additives, preservatives, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This increased awareness is propelling them to seek out products that contain natural, minimally processed ingredients. For instance, according to a 2021 survey by the International Food Information Council (IFIC), 63% of consumers are paying more attention to ingredient lists. The desire for transparency in food labelling has led companies to adopt clean label practices, ensuring their products meet consumer expectations for simplicity and wholesomeness.

Drivers: Rise in clean label product launches fueled by consumer demand
The clean label ingredients market is driven primarily by evolving consumer preferences for healthier and more transparent food options. As people become increasingly health-conscious and concerned about the ingredients in their food, there has been a surge in the demand for products with clean labels. These labels typically signify that the product is made with simple, recognizable ingredients, free from artificial additives, preservatives, and other undesirable substances.
Consumers are actively seeking out products that align with their values of health, sustainability, and transparency. They are scrutinizing ingredient lists more closely, preferring natural and minimally processed options over synthetic alternatives. This growing demand for clean label products has prompted food manufacturers to respond by reformulating their products or launching new offerings that meet these criteria. For instance, in March 2023, Ingredion (US) introduced a new range of texturizers to its US portfolio of clean label ingredient solutions. These innovative texturizers, known as Fibertex CF citrus fibers, are derived from the peels of citrus fruits such as lemons and limes. By harnessing the natural properties of citrus peels, Ingredion aims to assist manufacturers in addressing clean label challenges while meeting evolving consumer preferences.
Dry Form Accounted For A Higher Market Share Among Form Segment In 2023.
The convenience factor plays a crucial role. Powdered or dry products offer ease of storage, transportation, and handling compared to other forms like liquid or solid. For instance, dry supplements and food additives are lightweight and compact, making them convenient for both manufacturers and consumers. This convenience translates into cost savings throughout the supply chain, from production to distribution.
Moreover, the versatility of dry form allows for a wide range of applications across industries. Brands can cater to diverse consumer preferences by offering a variety of formulations in dry form, enhancing their market appeal.
In September 2020, the Symrise (India) Division Diana Food introduced its first-ever clean label, organic, and Fair Trade-certified acerola powder. This marks a significant milestone, positioning Diana Food as an industry leader in catering to consumers seeking natural and health-focused solutions. Moreover, the versatility of the acerola powder opens up opportunities across various product categories, from nutritional supplements to functional foods and beverages. Its clean label and organic attributes cater to consumers seeking products with minimal additives and synthetic ingredients, further enhancing its market potential.

Asia Pacific is The Fastest-Growing Market for Clean Label Ingredients Among the Regions.
Asia Pacific is emerging as the fastest-growing market for clean label ingredients, driven by one of the primary drivers, which is the region's rapidly expanding middle class, which is increasingly health-conscious and willing to spend on premium food products. This demographic shift is accompanied by a rising awareness of food safety and nutrition, prompting consumers to seek products with natural and easily recognizable ingredients.
Local food manufacturers in the Asia Pacific are responding to this demand by innovating and reformulating products to include fewer artificial additives and more natural ingredients. This shift is supported by advancements in food technology, which facilitate the development of clean label alternatives that do not compromise on taste or quality. Moreover, the agricultural abundance in many Asia Pacific countries provides a rich source of natural ingredients, enabling the production of a diverse range of clean label products.

Why to Invest in Bhubaneswar?
While past trends can provide insights, they don't guarantee future performance, and all investments come with some level of risk, here I have compiled few pointers regarding why to invest in real estate market in Bhubaneswar:
Affordability: Eastern India, including states like West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha, generally offers a more affordable cost of living compared to some other regions in India. For instance, the average property prices, transportation prices in cities like Kolkata and Bhubaneswar are lower compared to major metropolitan areas like Mumbai and Delhi.
Potential for Appreciation: Bhubaneswar has witnessed steady growth in land and house prices over the past few years. Increase in finished product like housing has seen a significant growth as compared to the land prices. In the near future there might be a market correction that will happen to the housing property but land properties will appreciate as usual.
Rental Income: Rental income is one of the areas where Bhubaneswar has not performed well as compared to its peers due to multiple reasons like Covid, but there has been a resurgence from 2023 onwards. Low rent is one of the major reasons, which makes Bhubaneswar an attractive destination for students, professionals.
Infrastructure Development: Significant infrastructure projects are underway in Bhubaneswar. For instance, has seen the initiation of the metro rail system and road improvements, which have improved connectivity and enhanced property values. At the same time, new airspace routes to global destinations like dubai, will enhance its position in global connectivity designing commercial buildings bhubaneswar.
Quality of Life: Eastern India offers a better quality of life compared to some other metropolitan areas. Bhubaneswar to be specific, offers the presence of green spaces like the nandankanan national zoo and chandaka forest area which acts as the lungs of the city. Cultural attractions in terms of its rich craftsmanship and folk songs/dances adds to the appeal of living in this region. A well-planned road network needs to be praised for minimal traffic congestion in the city. Apart from that, the presence of all kinds of brands from different sectors with all products from affordable to luxury ranges ensures the consumer's requirement.
Education/Healthcare and Employment Hubs: Bhubaneswar has renowned educational institutions like IIT, AIIMs, NISER, KIIT, NIFT etc. Which caters students with different specializations. So, it is fair enough to say Bhubaneswar is one of the education hubs in the country. Presence of private hospitals like Apollo, AMRI etc and government institutions like AIIMs takes care of the health of the state and nearby states. At the same time, the presence of new footprints from various MNCs like deloitte enhanced its possibility to be the next hub in the country interior designers in bhubaneswar. This ensures a consistent demand for housing.
Lower Competition: The competition in the real estate market in the city is generally lower compared to major cities like Mumbai and Delhi. This is providing more options and better deals to the consumers and investors currently. Although implementation of various rules and regulations by the authorities has started creating an entry barrier in the market.
So, considering all the points I personally feel, this is the best time to invest in Bhubaneswar real estate market, land and under construction properties being the most attractive ones.
