So I know we're all star struck by the fact gruvia and nalu had babies in the past 10 years or so, but something that I think deserves just as much attention as one of the big ships and isn't getting nearly enough

I feel like the Earthland Nasha might actually have Natsu’s personality and be more hyperactive and Earthland Greige might end up being similar to Gray in terms of personality but have Juvia’s outwardly forward expression of love

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I think the FT ships don't need to have the same children as their Edolas counterparts? We already saw it with Edo!Jerza having Irene, while official art shows Earthland!Jerza with a son.

Nothing wrong with the Edolas kids ofc, I just think it would be cute if the Earthland pairings had the opposite set of genders (e.g., Nalu with a son, Gruvia with a daughter) and the kids in both dimensions even got to meet or interact somehow? Their parents proudly showing them off to their counterparts, like they did themselves back in the day.

I love them!!!

I love their relationship so much. At first, Gray couldn't stand Juvia but he soon realised how much she cared and how much he cared for her. The whole Juvia vs Gray fight in the finale made me cry, especially when they killed themselves because they didn't want to kill the other QwQ

Gajevy

They're ship is so cute and gradual and I love it.

Yes, Gajeel did hurt her and chain her to a tree when they first met, but he's shown and proven to her how much he's changed. Their love is beautiful and I love them.

LoLu

I have to admit, I did ship them at first, but it's more platonic than romantic now. Still a cute ship tho.

Romeo & Wendy

Another platonic pairing. It's cute but I don't ship them romantically.

Sky Sisters

They have such a cute friendship!

I adore the Sky Sisters friendship and I want to see more of them! I also heard that these two could be cannon, which I'd would love to know if it's true or not. So yeah, ship them platonically and romantically.

I want more of these two!!!

I want to see more of Elfman and Evergreen so badly. The tsundere and the big strong guy is so cute and the scenes in GMG were so cute.

Day 2 - perseverance

Usually, romantic relationships went through stages. In that order, the couple got to know each other, one of them took the first step and asked the other out. Then, a milestone: first date. After that, it took some weeks, months even to go from seeing each other to dating . During the dating stage, some milestones occurred: meeting the parents, first fight, first reconciliation, first time, first ‘I love you’. Then, after a couple of years, moving together and marriage. After some time, boom! Children. Then taking care of the kids, watching them grow, getting old together, grandchildren and then-

Gosh, that was a lot.

There were exceptions to this scheme, though. A lot of couples stayed as friends for a long time before dating. Others broke up, went separate ways, then got back together. Some had children before marrying, some wanted pets instead of kids. Some wanted both, some wanted none. Sometimes, first I love you went after first fight and and first time before getting to know.

Now that Gray started thinking about it, there were a lot of relationships that didn’t follow the pattern everyone talked about. That made him feel better, after all, his relationship with Juvia was very different from any pattern, as he started to recollect.

The getting to know stage came right with a milestone: first fight. Enemies at first, but after a short time he showed her something she had never seen before from another person: empathy. Mercy. And then, she saw the sun for the first time (that counted as first reconciliation, right?)

For years, they stayed in the friends stage, but they had reached the milestone of first ‘I love you’ (from Juvia, not reciprocated).

After seven years stuck in Tenrou and the Grand Magic Games, they got a milestone he saw few couples achieve: first sacrifice. Even if he didn’t actually die in the end, it still counted (he stayed dead for one second, come on). And after that…

First rejection.

However, even when Gray didn’t have the courage to start exploring the feelings he was developing for Juvia and blatantly denied her advances, she persevered. 

Damn, if there was one quality that Juvia had it definitely was perseverance.

After that bitter milestone, a lot of time passed before they got to the next step: meeting the parents. This one was not only crooked in order, but also in significance. Knowing the father of your loved one as a spirit and having to set it free, ending once and for all that existence… that wasn’t exactly a romantic scenario. It meant a lot for him in other ways, though.

Moving together came shortly after. For months, they had a domestic peaceful and endearing life, even if they were just friends.

Then, he abandoned her and had her trust in him tested for the first time. She persevered, though, and they overcame it. During the battle of Alvarez, they reached once again a rare milestone: double sacrifice.

The longer he thought about it, the more he was certain their path was unique (not necessarily in a good way).

It was only after the first time he really thought he lost her that their story got into the rails. After the one hundred years quest (in which he saw that his edolas self had gone on a straighter line than him and already had a son with edo-Juvia) he finally gathered courage to do the hardest thing:

Step one, ask out.

And now, looking at his bride, walking to him as beautiful as ever, he couldn’t be more grateful for everything they went through if it meant having her in his arms for all his life.

They had persevered.

Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 202

See? the whole thing about Lisanna wanting to be a bride when she grows up is good here. I'm talking in the context of Juvia!

Juvia found the joy of friendship with Lucy. She then found the joy of family with Cana. Now, she's going to discover love with Lisanna.

I'm not saying this as in she's going to fall in love with Lisanna (though Jusanna seems like it'd be a cute rarepair...), I mean that Lisanna has always been a love-centric, 'raise a family with warmth and motherly love' sort of nurturing character. (She did, after all, roost Happy with Natsu and taught him how to care for and warm something gently. She would be teaching that exaact same lesson to Juvia, who has only known strength-based expressions in her life.)

Juvia knows she loves Gray, but she doesn't know how to express it, or how to handle it at all (the whole regressing to Phantom Juvia thing once she learned about Edolas). Lisanna is here to fix that! She sees a girl in love and wants to meddle!

Juvia's character arc is dependent on the fact that she is already strong, and thus, her journey in Fairy Tail is the journey to find emotions, and the many forms of love she can now experience. She never got any of it when she was a child, and that's why all her new arcs with the girls in Fairy Tail is so important.

Alas, the one with Lisanna that was clearly set up here? it didn't go anywhere. Instead, Juvia found another arc with Meredy. It was also an arc about motherly love! It was also powerful, but it offset everything, and I think Mashima lost sight of it all afterward, because Juvia ended up just focusing on Gray henceforth.

I do wish we saw this. Of course, don't take out the Meredy story--- this should've been a character arc that starts from Juvia getting to know Lisanna and what she experiences in love-- and then applying it when she encounters Meredy. I think it would've still made sense without taking anything away from her fight with Meredy and the whole protecting Gray situation happening then. It'll actually enrich Juvia as a character, add another layer to Gruvia even, and Juvia's care for Meredy should've been built upon further after the arc ended to become the next Juvia-discovering- emotions saga. Alas.

im honestly looking forward to see what mashima has in plan for nalu. the story so far hasn’t been nalu-focused since other aspects have been dealt with (gruvia, progression of story etc) so i feel like the future has a lot in store.

i don’t think mashima is going to write the nalu endgame poorly. like, sure, these past arcs haven’t been great on the writing of nalu - fan service and barely any relationship building - but let’s be real, even if it’s mostly fan service in order to keep the nalu readers, the story haven’t given much for Natsu and Lucy to work with. They’re on a job that calls for 99% of their attention - not even a child in edolas is a good enough excuse for any of them to lose focus on the job.

i think many aspects of what’s been brought up so far will come back when they’re in crisis. talking calmly about things has never been Natsu and Lucy’s thing, they go with the flow and learn how to deal with things in the moment, so it doesn’t make sense for them to go through what gruvia has been going through (in comparison) (which i shouldn’t try to compare cuz Gray is in a completely other mental state than Lucy and Natsu, and his love story with Juvia has been about finally admitting to himself that he loves her. Natsu and Lucy don’t stand for the same time pressure - Gray had to come with an answer because he understood that Juvia couldn’t wait forever. Natsu and Lucy are completely willing to wait forever for the other one - and since they don’t have anything to make them realise that their time and possibilities are limited, they won’t make any moves on each other.)

this became longer than i meant it to be lmao, anyways i trust mashima with fairy tail. he’ll probably possibly maybe want to give his fans a story we all can love while also staying true to the fairy tail agenda
